ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Welcome to Bismarck Community Church! In this fourth sermon of our "RESIST" series, Pastor Jim Ellis dives into Daniel 4 to explore what happens when human pride clashes with divine authority—and why recognizing God as the ultimate Ruler transforms how we live. If you are looking for a Christian church in Bismarck, ND, or seeking practical biblical truth for your daily walk with God, we invite you to watch and grow with us.
Through the story of King Nebuchadnezzar, Jim unpacks the real-life meaning of "pride goes before a fall." Despite receiving a direct warning from God, Nebuchadnezzar refused to humble himself, leading to a period of humbling isolation. But when his heart finally changed in Daniel 4:34, he acknowledged the truth: God is sovereign over all things. In a culture that struggles to yield to authority, we are reminded that God is remarkably patient with us, inviting us to live in reverent awe of Him. Ultimately, Jesus serves as our perfect example of humility—laying down His life so that we might know the true King.
WEEKLY REFLECTION QUESTION: In what area of your life right now is God inviting you to lay down pride and yield to His authority?
