ABOUT THIS EPISODE
You can’t rebuild what you won’t face, and the hardest part of a comeback is admitting you’re hungry in the far country. We open Luke 15 and walk through the prodigal son’s turning point, the moment Scripture says he “came to himself.” That single phrase becomes our map for spiritual renewal, because real change starts when we stop blaming, stop forcing the wrong life to work, and finally tell the truth about where we are.
From there, we get practical about what a Christian comeback looks like right now. We talk about taking a spiritual inventory, renewing your mind (Romans 12:2), and why “just knowing” isn’t enough if your feet never move. We challenge you to build a plan of action, not just a plan in your head, and to find your why so temporary pleasure stops stealing your peace. If you’ve felt stuck, tired, or ashamed, this message brings clarity and traction.
The heart of the story is the Father’s response. God is not waiting to scold you at the door; He runs with compassion. We unpack why guilt is a roadblock and how confession and repentance break its power, reminding us that God’s plans are better than ours and restoration is worth the walk home. If this encouraged you, subscribe to Beyond Sunday, share it with someone who needs a comeback, and leave a review so more people can find hope.

00:00:04.240 --> 00:00:06.000
What's going on, everybody?
00:00:06.160 --> 00:00:11.759
Welcome, welcome, welcome to another episode of Beyond Sunday.
00:00:11.839 --> 00:00:16.239
I am your host, Lee Day, and I pastor Christ Family Outreach Church.
00:00:16.399 --> 00:00:18.719
Located, say it with me if you know it.
00:00:18.960 --> 00:00:21.679
Located in Amelia Courthouse, Virginia.
00:00:21.839 --> 00:00:29.199
And I want to say thank you so much for tuning in to this episode of Beyond Sunday, the podcast.
00:00:29.440 --> 00:00:37.200
So I want to talk to you on this particular episode about the comeback, your comeback, my comeback.
00:00:37.520 --> 00:00:44.560
Because the truth is, every one of us in life, one point or another, many, hey, let's just be real.
00:00:44.719 --> 00:00:45.439
Let's be honest.
00:00:45.679 --> 00:00:47.119
Many points in life.
00:00:47.359 --> 00:00:51.520
We're going to find ourselves needing a comeback.
00:00:51.679 --> 00:00:55.759
Now, if you got your Bibles, I want you to go ahead and get them open to Luke chapter 15.
00:00:55.840 --> 00:00:57.439
We're going to begin with the 11th verse.
00:00:57.520 --> 00:01:00.320
And I'm going to read seven or eight verses or so.
00:01:00.719 --> 00:01:03.280
So I want you to hang on tight.
00:01:03.439 --> 00:01:03.920
Hold on.
00:01:04.079 --> 00:01:05.040
Hang in there.
00:01:05.280 --> 00:01:08.799
When I'm done reading, we're going to swing back around and we're going to talk about it.
00:01:08.879 --> 00:01:14.480
And we're going to see how we can apply it, this scripture, this passage of the text to our lives right now.
00:01:14.640 --> 00:01:15.519
Many of you know this.
00:01:15.599 --> 00:01:18.239
It's the parable of the prodigal son.
00:01:18.719 --> 00:01:24.319
But in Luke 15, beginning with the 11th verse, this is what the word of the Lord says.
00:01:24.719 --> 00:01:33.439
And he said, There was a man who had two sons, and the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the share of property that is coming to me.
00:01:33.599 --> 00:01:35.840
And he divided his property between them.
00:01:36.079 --> 00:01:45.120
Not many days later the younger son gathered all that he had and took a journey into the far country, and there he squandered his property in reckless living.
00:01:45.359 --> 00:01:51.280
And when he had spent everything, a severe famine arose in that country, and he began to be in need.
00:01:51.599 --> 00:01:58.959
So he went and hired himself out to one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed pigs.
00:01:59.280 --> 00:02:07.760
And as he was longing and he was longing to be fed with the pods that the pigs ate, and no one gave him anything.
00:02:08.000 --> 00:02:13.919
But when he came to himself, he said, How many of my father's hired servants have more than enough bread?
00:02:14.240 --> 00:02:17.039
But I perish here with hunger.
00:02:17.280 --> 00:02:24.159
I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you.
00:02:24.400 --> 00:02:27.199
I am no longer worthy to be called your son.
00:02:27.520 --> 00:02:31.039
Treat me as one of your hired servants.
00:02:31.280 --> 00:02:32.879
Let's stop right there for a moment.
00:02:33.199 --> 00:02:42.639
Every person has been there before when for whatever reason we've ended up on a path that God had never called us to be on.
00:02:42.800 --> 00:02:43.759
That's true, isn't it?
00:02:43.840 --> 00:02:44.560
That's true.
00:02:44.800 --> 00:02:56.479
We've all come to a moment where we have realized we are walking down a road that God has never, one, God has never called us to walk down, but two, God doesn't even want us on it.
00:02:56.879 --> 00:03:00.639
And for some people, anger took them down that road.
00:03:00.879 --> 00:03:08.479
Others may have been deceived and didn't even realize what they were getting into to somewhat of a degree, anyway.
00:03:08.800 --> 00:03:18.639
And some may have even purposefully chosen out of rebellion and disobedience to walk down the road of sin just simply for pleasure.
00:03:18.879 --> 00:03:26.560
Some may have given in and given up simply because they've grown tired and weary of trying to do the right thing.
00:03:27.039 --> 00:03:30.479
They become tired of trying to fight the good fight of the faith.
00:03:30.719 --> 00:03:34.319
They have become tired of trying to go from faith to faith.
00:03:34.560 --> 00:03:34.879
Okay.
00:03:35.199 --> 00:03:43.439
And so there's many different reasons that cause us to go down the wrong road or that lure us or tempt us to go down the wrong road.
00:03:43.680 --> 00:03:51.520
But no matter what the reason for heading down the wrong path is, one truth, one truth remains the same.
00:03:51.840 --> 00:03:58.960
There must, and I mean capital letters must, there must be a comeback moment.
00:03:59.039 --> 00:04:00.240
It's critical.
00:04:00.560 --> 00:04:03.599
The prodigal son had his comeback moment.
00:04:03.840 --> 00:04:05.840
And it's found in the 17th verse.
00:04:05.919 --> 00:04:08.960
And I just want to read this one verse to you, Luke chapter 15, verse 17.
00:04:09.120 --> 00:04:14.879
I read it to you a moment ago, but I just want to refresh, um, I want to refresh your mind of this, your memory of this.
00:04:15.199 --> 00:04:21.839
But when he came to himself, he said, How many of my father's hired servants have more than enough bread?
00:04:22.160 --> 00:04:25.600
But I perish here with hunger.
00:04:26.240 --> 00:04:27.920
He came to himself.
00:04:28.319 --> 00:04:31.199
The 17th verse literally tells us that.
00:04:31.439 --> 00:04:36.480
But when he came to himself, in other words, let me break this down.
00:04:36.800 --> 00:04:47.199
The prodigal son, he took responsibility, and I think that's a that is a thing that a lot of people, even within the church houses today, lack.
00:04:47.759 --> 00:04:56.560
He took responsibility and stopped trying to force the situation that he so desperately wanted to take place.
00:04:56.959 --> 00:04:59.199
He wanted to be out in that far country.
00:04:59.279 --> 00:05:01.040
He wanted to be doing it on his own.
00:05:01.199 --> 00:05:03.680
He wanted to be living in that sinful living.
00:05:03.839 --> 00:05:10.319
He wanted to be living that lifestyle where he could just please his flesh whenever and however and as often ever as he wanted.
00:05:10.480 --> 00:05:11.680
He knew.
00:05:12.079 --> 00:05:19.199
He knew that his way, the path that he chose to take, was coming to an end.
00:05:19.519 --> 00:05:21.759
Now, if you're taking notes, I want you to write this down.
00:05:22.000 --> 00:05:25.839
The prodigal son came to himself.
00:05:26.800 --> 00:05:28.560
He took responsibility.
00:05:28.879 --> 00:05:32.319
He understood how low he had fallen.
00:05:32.480 --> 00:05:35.839
And in Romans 12.2, you could jot that down as a reference, my good friends.
00:05:36.000 --> 00:05:44.720
In Romans 12.2, it says this do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind.
00:05:45.360 --> 00:05:48.399
Now, some people simply need a new mindset.
00:05:48.480 --> 00:05:57.040
They need to hit the reset button simply because, and we've all been here before, they've fallen into what I say is stinking thanking.
00:05:57.519 --> 00:06:06.879
In other words, their mind needs to be renewed because they've fallen and begun to look like the world again in certain areas of their lives.
00:06:06.959 --> 00:06:08.160
Now, I'm gonna give you a couple steps here.
00:06:08.240 --> 00:06:10.560
I'm gonna start out obviously with step number one.
00:06:11.120 --> 00:06:14.639
Step number one of the comeback is realizing where you're at.
00:06:14.879 --> 00:06:16.480
We see that with the prodigal son.
00:06:16.639 --> 00:06:17.759
He came to himself.
00:06:18.000 --> 00:06:20.319
Luke chapter 15, 17th verse.
00:06:20.560 --> 00:06:24.319
So step number one of the comeback is realizing where you're at.
00:06:24.560 --> 00:06:31.680
You cannot realize the direction you need to go until you're first realizing where you've ended up.
00:06:32.079 --> 00:06:33.439
Where you've ended up.
00:06:33.680 --> 00:06:39.279
Now, I'm gonna read four verses or so, Luke 15, beginning with the 14th verse.
00:06:39.360 --> 00:06:40.879
Pay close attention.
00:06:41.759 --> 00:06:47.519
And when he had spent everything, a severe famine arose in that country, and he began to be in need.
00:06:47.839 --> 00:07:00.560
So he went and hired himself out to one of the citizens of that country who sent him into his fields to feed pigs, and he was longing to be fed with the pods that the pigs ate, and no one gave him anything.
00:07:00.800 --> 00:07:07.439
But when he had came to himself, he said, How many of my father's hired servants have more than enough bread?
00:07:07.680 --> 00:07:10.399
But I perish here with hunger.
00:07:10.639 --> 00:07:15.120
Again, I say the first step to the comeback is realizing where you're at in life.
00:07:15.360 --> 00:07:18.160
The prodigal son assessed his situation.
00:07:18.319 --> 00:07:19.759
Write that down if you're taking notes.
00:07:19.920 --> 00:07:22.160
The prodigal son assessed the situation.
00:07:22.240 --> 00:07:23.680
And maybe that's what you need to do today.
00:07:23.839 --> 00:07:29.279
Can I just say there's nothing wrong with daily taking a spiritual inventory of your life?
00:07:29.519 --> 00:07:32.319
But the prodigal son assessed the situation.
00:07:32.560 --> 00:07:37.120
And after realizing what he had done, he knew he needed to take action.
00:07:37.360 --> 00:07:39.839
Step number two in the comeback, here it is.
00:07:40.160 --> 00:07:41.519
Do something about it.
00:07:41.759 --> 00:07:47.439
How many times in life have we thought about what needs to be done, but we don't go do what needs to be done?
00:07:47.680 --> 00:07:50.560
We know, we know what needs to be done.
00:07:50.720 --> 00:07:52.879
We just don't go out there and get it done.
00:07:53.040 --> 00:07:56.399
So step number two in the comeback is do something about it.
00:07:56.560 --> 00:08:00.560
If you know you got to get back into church, hey, go to church.
00:08:00.800 --> 00:08:09.360
If you know you got to start listening to praise and worship music again because it's edifying and the worldly stuff is tearing you down, change the station.
00:08:09.600 --> 00:08:10.639
Change the station.
00:08:10.879 --> 00:08:12.079
Do something about it.
00:08:12.240 --> 00:08:16.560
If you know the people that you're hanging out with are no good for you, do something about it.
00:08:16.800 --> 00:08:17.600
Do something about it.
00:08:18.079 --> 00:08:20.800
Just knowing it is half the battle.
00:08:21.120 --> 00:08:24.480
But if you want to win, if you want to be victorious, you got to complete the battle.
00:08:24.560 --> 00:08:25.360
You got to write this down.
00:08:25.439 --> 00:08:26.480
You got to finish well.
00:08:26.639 --> 00:08:30.399
And if you're out there and you're willing to participate, just say that out loud right now.
00:08:30.480 --> 00:08:32.639
In the count of three, we're going to say together, finish well.
00:08:32.799 --> 00:08:33.279
Finish well.
00:08:33.440 --> 00:08:33.840
Ready?
00:08:34.000 --> 00:08:35.600
One, two, three.
00:08:35.840 --> 00:08:36.799
Finish well.
00:08:37.200 --> 00:08:38.240
That's what we got to do.
00:08:38.320 --> 00:08:39.679
We got to finish well.
00:08:40.080 --> 00:08:42.480
We've got to do more than just want to finish well.
00:08:42.639 --> 00:08:45.360
We actually have to cross the finish line.
00:08:45.519 --> 00:08:48.320
And we can do it together in the family of Christ.
00:08:48.399 --> 00:08:50.320
Can somebody out there say amen to that?
00:08:50.480 --> 00:08:51.120
Glory to God.
00:08:51.200 --> 00:08:52.159
Hallelujah.
00:08:52.480 --> 00:09:00.159
He is the almighty God, my friends, and he will walk us through every single step of the way.
00:09:00.320 --> 00:09:02.639
Now, Luke 15, look at the 18th verse.
00:09:02.720 --> 00:09:03.919
I'm going to read three verses or so.
00:09:04.080 --> 00:09:04.879
This is what it says.
00:09:05.039 --> 00:09:06.879
We're moving on in the text.
00:09:08.000 --> 00:09:13.519
I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you.
00:09:13.759 --> 00:09:15.600
I'm no longer worthy to be called your son.
00:09:15.759 --> 00:09:16.480
So this is his plan.
00:09:16.559 --> 00:09:17.919
He's going back to his daddy.
00:09:18.159 --> 00:09:20.559
I'm no longer, I'm no longer worthy to be called your son.
00:09:20.720 --> 00:09:22.720
Treat me as one of your hired servants.
00:09:23.039 --> 00:09:24.159
Verse 20.
00:09:24.399 --> 00:09:29.200
And he arose and he came to his father.
00:09:29.440 --> 00:09:37.200
But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion and ran and embraced him and kissed him.
00:09:37.440 --> 00:09:42.960
Now many people will simply talk about their comeback because that's the easy thing to do.
00:09:43.360 --> 00:09:45.120
Just talking about the comeback.
00:09:46.159 --> 00:09:51.120
But the act of planning, planning itself, okay.
00:09:51.440 --> 00:09:56.960
The act of planning is a waste of time if all you're gonna do is talk about your comeback.
00:09:57.360 --> 00:09:57.759
That's it.
00:09:58.080 --> 00:09:59.120
Just a waste of time.
00:09:59.679 --> 00:10:08.480
If you don't take what you've talked about, if you don't take your plan and put it into action, it's just a waste of time.
00:10:08.799 --> 00:10:10.320
So write this down, my friends.
00:10:10.639 --> 00:10:12.320
Plan of action.
00:10:13.519 --> 00:10:15.600
I want a plan of action.
00:10:15.840 --> 00:10:18.000
I don't want it to just be a plan in my head.
00:10:18.080 --> 00:10:20.240
I don't want it to just be a plan in my heart.
00:10:20.399 --> 00:10:23.519
I don't even want it to just be a plan in my mouth.
00:10:24.000 --> 00:10:26.799
I want it to be a plan of action.
00:10:27.200 --> 00:10:33.600
I want my head, my heart, my mouth, my spirit, my hands, my feet.
00:10:33.840 --> 00:10:35.519
I want everything to be all about it.
00:10:35.679 --> 00:10:42.559
I want it to be, my brothers and sisters, I want it to be a plan of action.
00:10:43.120 --> 00:10:46.240
Now in Jeremiah 8.4, jot that down as a reference.
00:10:46.480 --> 00:10:55.120
In Jeremiah 8.4, God was speaking to his people and he said, Thus says the Lord, when men fall, do they not rise again?
00:10:55.360 --> 00:10:58.240
If one turns away, does he not return?
00:10:58.720 --> 00:10:59.600
Yes, so good.
00:10:59.759 --> 00:11:07.039
Now, unfortunately, at the time, God was speaking to a people that hadn't yet come to themselves, as the prodigal son had done.
00:11:07.279 --> 00:11:09.759
They were choosing not to return.
00:11:10.000 --> 00:11:12.080
But this brings me to another point.
00:11:12.320 --> 00:11:16.240
You must understand the why in your comeback.
00:11:16.480 --> 00:11:18.720
You've got to have your reason.
00:11:18.879 --> 00:11:26.559
That's what's going to help motivate you along the process of fulfilling the plan of action, which is your comeback.
00:11:26.720 --> 00:11:32.639
Here's the deal: when you're not truly serving God, you don't have real victory.
00:11:32.879 --> 00:11:43.279
And this is why what seems to be joy and pleasure quickly fade and must continue to be found and placed in the life that does not honor God.
00:11:43.600 --> 00:11:47.440
Because the world's victories and pleasures are temporary.
00:11:47.759 --> 00:11:58.399
So if it's not going to be about the real reason and you're just putting in daily, momentary, temporary pleasures, it's going to burn out quick like a candle.
00:11:59.440 --> 00:12:03.519
You've got to make it all about the right reasons.
00:12:03.759 --> 00:12:08.240
Now the 20th verse says this, Luke chapter 15, verse 20.
00:12:08.720 --> 00:12:10.720
And he arose and came to his father.
00:12:10.879 --> 00:12:13.200
So now he's putting his plan into action.
00:12:13.440 --> 00:12:19.279
And he arose and came to his father, but while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion.
00:12:19.519 --> 00:12:20.559
Can we say amen?
00:12:20.720 --> 00:12:24.000
This is a beautiful picture of us and God.
00:12:24.559 --> 00:12:28.320
And he ran and embraced him and kissed him.
00:12:28.720 --> 00:12:32.399
Notice the position the father takes to the son's coming home.
00:12:32.639 --> 00:12:40.159
The father doesn't just wait as to teach his son a lesson, as he has to humble himself and walk all the way to the porch.
00:12:40.320 --> 00:12:48.000
Okay, as he's got to walk all the way to the front entrance of the tent, and the father just stare him down in anger.
00:12:48.720 --> 00:12:50.960
No, the father shows mercy.
00:12:51.279 --> 00:12:52.720
He shows grace.
00:12:53.440 --> 00:12:57.519
He shows such an unlimited level and amount of forgiveness and love.
00:12:57.600 --> 00:13:06.639
And this is what God is showing to us in this parable as a representative of him and us, you and I.
00:13:07.919 --> 00:13:12.080
So again, look at the position that the father takes to the son's coming home.
00:13:12.240 --> 00:13:15.039
The father runs to the son and embraces him.
00:13:15.279 --> 00:13:15.919
Hallelujah.
00:13:16.000 --> 00:13:17.120
Glory to God.
00:13:17.519 --> 00:13:23.200
If we only knew how often God was waiting to do that to us.
00:13:23.600 --> 00:13:37.759
How often was God or has God been waiting for us to come back from the road of despair, from the road of sin, from the road of destruction that we ourselves purposefully had chosen for our lives.
00:13:38.000 --> 00:13:48.879
Now I want you to look at the goodness, the faithfulness, and the love of God on display in the life of the Father, again, which we know represents God.
00:13:49.200 --> 00:13:52.080
The father does not come out and scold his son.
00:13:52.559 --> 00:13:56.559
The father does not come out and remind the son of his failures.
00:13:56.720 --> 00:13:58.399
He doesn't say, Where's all the stuff?
00:13:58.559 --> 00:14:01.679
Where's the inheritance that I work so hard for you to have?
00:14:01.840 --> 00:14:07.759
He doesn't come out and verbally beat him down and give him the I told you so speech.
00:14:08.080 --> 00:14:09.759
Where you been, boy.
00:14:10.080 --> 00:14:12.960
He knows, he knows his son knows where he's been.
00:14:13.440 --> 00:14:22.799
Verse 20 tells us that the father felt compassion for his son, and he went to his son and he embraced him and he kissed him.
00:14:23.279 --> 00:14:24.559
Write this down.
00:14:24.799 --> 00:14:29.759
The father, which is God, the father loves his children.
00:14:30.559 --> 00:14:32.159
Maybe you need to hear that today.
00:14:33.279 --> 00:14:48.399
And if you already knew it, which I hope you did, then I just want you to be encouraged and refreshed and blessed in the reminder that Abba, your father God, Yahweh, the creator of all things good of the heavens and the earth, he loves you.
00:14:49.120 --> 00:14:57.919
No matter where you've been, how far you've fallen, no matter where you come from, no matter who your family lineage has been in, he loves you.
00:14:58.159 --> 00:15:05.840
No matter how much sin you were wrapped up in, right before you started listening to this episode, your Father God, He loves you.
00:15:06.480 --> 00:15:13.600
So do not let the enemy use guilt or shame from where you've been to keep you from going where you need to be.
00:15:13.840 --> 00:15:18.240
Get a plan of action and actually get to stepping.
00:15:18.879 --> 00:15:22.720
Now listen, guilt is a roadblock.
00:15:23.440 --> 00:15:29.440
It is used by the enemy as a roadblock to keep you from coming home to God.
00:15:30.320 --> 00:15:40.080
Guilt is a hazard in the road trying to hinder you, trying to hinder you from your comeback.
00:15:40.399 --> 00:15:42.000
I want you to look at the 21st verse.
00:15:42.080 --> 00:15:42.720
I'm gonna read it to you.
00:15:42.879 --> 00:15:50.000
Luke 15, 21 says this and the son said to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you.
00:15:50.240 --> 00:15:54.320
I am no longer worthy to be called your son.
00:15:54.720 --> 00:15:58.399
And we talked a lot about confession, okay, on this episode.
00:16:00.080 --> 00:16:08.000
About coming to self, about realizing how far he had fallen, okay, about wanting to go back home.
00:16:08.320 --> 00:16:13.279
All these are pieces, if you will, in the process of confession.
00:16:15.360 --> 00:16:30.720
It is so important in our walk and in our relationship with God that we take time and repent and confess of the things that we have done that are sin against our Heavenly Father.
00:16:31.679 --> 00:16:33.679
But I want you to write this down.
00:16:34.000 --> 00:16:37.200
There's power in my confession.
00:16:37.519 --> 00:16:37.919
Why?
00:16:38.159 --> 00:16:49.120
Because it releases us from the burden of guilt that the enemy tries to put on us, and and honestly, that we put on ourselves, to be completely honest, that we put on ourselves.
00:16:49.360 --> 00:16:53.679
When we ask Jesus Christ to forgive us, listen to me, he does.
00:16:53.919 --> 00:16:59.840
And his blood has washed us and we are forgiven and we are clean and we are set free.
00:17:00.159 --> 00:17:14.880
And the son goes home, he asks for forgiveness, hoping to at least have the opportunity to work for his father as a servant in order to make a large enough living to be able to eat and not die.
00:17:15.119 --> 00:17:18.240
But the father, ooh, listen to this.
00:17:18.400 --> 00:17:20.880
But the father had better plans for his son.
00:17:22.079 --> 00:17:28.720
The father had better plans for his son, and the father's got better plans for you, and the father's got better plans for me.
00:17:28.880 --> 00:17:30.000
Now I want you to think about that.
00:17:30.160 --> 00:17:32.640
The son had came to himself, okay?
00:17:32.960 --> 00:17:37.920
And in the 19th verse, he had plans to come home and be one of his father's servants.
00:17:38.240 --> 00:17:42.880
But God, listen, God's plans are better than my plans.
00:17:43.039 --> 00:17:45.519
God's plans are better than your plans.
00:17:45.680 --> 00:17:49.680
God's plans are better than our plans and the prodigal's plans.
00:17:49.920 --> 00:17:53.039
Now I'm going to read you two verses, Luke 15, 22 and 23.
00:17:53.119 --> 00:17:54.079
We're going to move on quickly.
00:17:54.240 --> 00:18:05.359
But the father said to his servants, Bring quickly the best robe and put it on him and put a ring on his hand and shoes on his feet, and bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate.
00:18:05.519 --> 00:18:06.319
Look at this.
00:18:06.640 --> 00:18:07.680
Look at this.
00:18:08.640 --> 00:18:14.640
This father is rejoicing that the one lost in sin has come home.
00:18:14.960 --> 00:18:18.480
He's rejoicing, and the one that run away has come home.
00:18:18.640 --> 00:18:21.279
And he says, Let us eat and celebrate.
00:18:21.680 --> 00:18:22.640
Verse 24.
00:18:22.720 --> 00:18:24.000
I'm gonna go ahead and get into it.
00:18:24.160 --> 00:18:26.960
For this my son was dead and is alive again.
00:18:27.200 --> 00:18:29.119
He was lost and is found.
00:18:29.279 --> 00:18:35.200
And the scripture says at the end of the 24th, 24th verse, and they began to celebrate.
00:18:35.440 --> 00:18:37.440
Oh, that's so precious.
00:18:37.680 --> 00:18:39.119
It's beautiful.
00:18:39.440 --> 00:18:44.880
The son thought that his past was gonna impact his present.
00:18:45.039 --> 00:18:46.400
I need you to hear that.
00:18:46.640 --> 00:18:54.799
The son thought that because of where he had gone and who he had become was going to impact his present, but it didn't.
00:18:55.119 --> 00:18:56.559
God had better plans.
00:18:56.799 --> 00:18:59.039
Thank God God had better plans.
00:18:59.359 --> 00:19:06.960
Don't ever let your past of falling short of the mark keep you from hitting the mark today.
00:19:07.200 --> 00:19:08.160
Go get it.
00:19:08.559 --> 00:19:09.359
Go get it.
00:19:09.519 --> 00:19:10.880
Go hit the mark.
00:19:11.119 --> 00:19:13.039
Now let me point out something here.
00:19:13.279 --> 00:19:15.119
The son made it home.
00:19:15.920 --> 00:19:17.839
The sun made it home.
00:19:18.160 --> 00:19:23.200
And on his way back, he didn't let his failures turn him around.
00:19:24.000 --> 00:19:29.440
He wasn't concerned about fear of what his father might say to the point to where it would turn him around.
00:19:29.519 --> 00:19:31.200
He did not turn back.
00:19:31.759 --> 00:19:37.440
The fear of being unsuccessful as a servant did not turn him around.
00:19:37.680 --> 00:19:44.480
The unknown of what was about to take place in this family reunion did not turn him around.
00:19:44.880 --> 00:19:48.559
Stop worrying about what's going to happen if I go back to my church?
00:19:48.880 --> 00:19:53.200
What's going to happen if I have to humble self and go back into that church that I left?
00:19:53.440 --> 00:19:54.960
Stop worrying about it.
00:19:55.200 --> 00:19:59.359
If that's where God has you and that's where God's calling you, go back home.
00:19:59.599 --> 00:20:09.359
Go home to that church, wherever it is, in whatever state, in whatever county, wherever it is you live, wherever God has called you to serve, wherever God has called you to grow.
00:20:09.680 --> 00:20:13.119
Get inside the church that God has called you to grow in.
00:20:13.279 --> 00:20:15.920
Not a dead church and a live church.
00:20:16.160 --> 00:20:21.119
I love that the Father celebrates the comeback of his wayward son.
00:20:22.400 --> 00:20:24.319
That's what our God does.
00:20:24.720 --> 00:20:28.480
That's what our God does.
00:20:29.119 --> 00:20:30.720
Let's pray together.
00:20:31.279 --> 00:20:38.079
Father, in the name and in the blood of Jesus, I am just so grateful that your ways are better than our ways.
00:20:38.720 --> 00:20:41.359
Your thoughts are higher than our thoughts, Father God.
00:20:41.599 --> 00:20:43.920
Your plans are better than our plans.
00:20:44.720 --> 00:20:50.160
And Father, I lift up every person that is in need of a comeback right now, Father.
00:20:50.480 --> 00:20:54.319
God, that they would cry out to you and they would just simply ask you for help.
00:20:54.480 --> 00:21:01.440
And that by the way of your Holy Spirit, you would continue, Father, to lead, guide, and direct them back home.
00:21:01.920 --> 00:21:09.440
In the name and the blood of Jesus, I rebuke the enemy from placing any more roadblocks or hazards in the streets.
00:21:10.240 --> 00:21:18.799
Father, and the ones that are there, I pray in the name of the blood of Jesus that they be removed, and that it all be for your glory and in your will.
00:21:19.039 --> 00:21:23.119
In the name of the blood of Jesus Christ, all God's people said.
00:21:23.599 --> 00:21:26.240
Amen, amen, and amen.
00:21:26.480 --> 00:21:28.240
To God be the glory, my friends.
00:21:28.319 --> 00:21:30.799
And until next time, stay in prayer.
00:21:31.039 --> 00:21:36.000
Continue to recognize the presence of God and stay in his word.
