BSVCCL Present: Bede & Steve Vs. Leatherface Episode 6 - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006)... "Witness The Birth Of Fear"

Welcome to episode 6 of Bede & Steve Vs. Leatherface, where your hosts Bede Jermyn & Steven T. Boltz explore the films of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise.

After the box-office success and postitive fan reception of their 2003 remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Michael Bay and his producing partners at Platinum Dunes started to get the ball rolling and make a follow-up to it. However, instead of taking the sequel route, they decided to go make a prequel that would explain how Leatherface and his family became the way they are. The resulting film was released in 2006 as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, which was directed by Jonathan Liebesman (Darkness Falls, Battle Los Angelis) and written by Sheldon Turner (The Longest Yard '05, Up In The Air) from a story co-wrote by David J. Schow (Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3, The Crow '94)

Joining the hosts Bede & Steve to discuss this prequel is first-time guest writer/author John Harrison (Sin Street Sleaze, Creatures Of the Screen - The Uncensored (And Unofficial) History of Kissploitation On Film, Television & Home Video). Highlights include John's story of seeing The Texas Chainsaw Massacre for the first time, the mixed feelings on this prequel, wondering whether we needed to know the origins of the Hewitt family, what Jonathan Liebesman brings to the film as the director, how everyone felt about the film's mean spirited violence, debating whether they should stop making TCM films and so much more.
