ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Keith Kralik very much appreciates and is grateful to work alongside nature for his creative outlet and profession. From amending soil, to planting seeds and watering, to pruning and keeping harmful insects off the plants, growing flowers to use in your artwork is truly a life cycle that he can get down with. Keith presses flowers, foliage, vegetables, fruits, fungi, and collects other biological life forms such as insects, butterflies, and nests, all to be used in his creative endeavors. While it would be amazing to grow every form of flower there is, that is just not practical, so Keith and his wife Rachel will source many flowers from small, local and not-so-local herb, flower, and vegetable farms, which continues to educate them on how important small-scale farming really is for communities and the environment. Pressing flowers and other organic matter provides a pure satisfaction and awe at how nature and farming work alongside each other, and allows Keith to showcase these specimens on paper in a vivid and organic manner.
