► Tell us about you and your podcast
Hi! I'm Liz and I co-host Tales From the Creeped with Jeni Palmer. We are best friends who love the paranormal, unexplained and the downright creepy, so we started this podcast to tell those stories. Our podcast contains listener-submitted stories about their own true scary encounter with the unexplained and unknown, narrated by us. Our listeners are anybody who finds themselves fascinated with the paranormal, the unexplained or the downright creepy!
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
Jeni and I have that gift of gab so we love to chat about this subject and found out that a lot of people want more of this kind of content. We both love podcasts in general and support the community, listening to various shows on a daily basis. Our initial goals when creating the podcast was to connect and build a community of people who love the unexplained as much as we do! We started the podcast in January of 2021. Our first episode was released on Feb 15 2021 and we release weekly episodes every Monday. We had this concept for ages and finally decided to move forward with it!

► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
We release a new Tales From the Creeped episode every Monday. We usually take about 45 minutes to record them and our editor will edit it into about 25-30 minutes each. We find the time to record on the weekends, we have a set time each Sunday so we can make sure to stay on track. For the podcast itself, we spend probably roughly $100-$150 a month on software, advertising, etc.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
Since we are new we haven't gained sponsorship yet, but for a podcast so new we found ourselves gaining a great amount of attention off the bat, so we find this really exciting! Right now we have 10 different countries listening to our stories and that feels great! We plan to find sponsors by continuing to produce quality content and approaching people/companies that are aligned with what our podcast is about. Our podacst benefits us by allowing us to have some quality time to chat (we always spend about an hour before each recording just catching up).
► How does your podcasting process look like?
For editing, our editor uses descript to edit our podcasts. We have not found many guests for the episodes as yet but we are working on that! Jeni does outreach each week in reddit to gain stories and to work on cultivating a larger following. When we record, we use squadcast. It is great because we can both see each other when we are telling these stories and we find it makes it a more natural recording experience.
► How do you market your show?
Right now, our listener breakdown is 51% from spotify, 23% from apple podcasts, 4% from Anchor, 2% from iheartradio and 20% from "other"
We find the best way to market is through our Facebook community as well as Twitter and Reddit

► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
I would say that the biggest barrier we found for podcasting is making sure the audio quality is top notch. We invested a lot in sound proofing, good mics, etc. Once you have the sound down, it seems like the rest falls into place. I also love listening to other podcasts in our genre and supporting them. I find that the best resource is getting a really good audio engineer to help with your home set up. They have a great ear for what is going to work so your sound can be seamless.
