Speaker 1: Thank you for listening to Your Daily Prayer, where we help you find the words you need to connect to your Father in Heaven. No matter what's happening in your life today, you can trust that God wants to hear from you. Right after this short word from our sponsors, we'll pray through today's prayer. for Transformation from the Inside Out. A Prayer for Transformation from the Inside Out Written by Emily Rose Massey Read by Leah Girard May God Himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful, and He will do it. 1 Thessalonians 5, 23-24 I am a mama of four precious boys, and each one is special to me. My oldest son recently turned eleven. And one of my favorite things to do leading up to my son's birthdays is to look through old photos of them and the memories we've shared. My heart swells when I see sweet memories pop up on Facebook on the day each one was born. As I reflect on these last 11 years, not only have I watched my boys grow up, but I can't help but see how much the Lord has changed and grown me in the midst of motherhood too. According to the Bible, this process of change and Growth in the Lord is called sanctification. According to the website gotquestions.org, the word sanctification is related to the word saint. Both words have to do with holiness. To sanctify something is to set it apart for special use. To sanctify a person is to make him holy. Knowing how many times I have failed as a mother, losing my patience and temper with my children countless times, I am thankful that just as our regeneration when the Lord makes us born again, sanctification is a work of the Spirit in our hearts and lives. We partner with the Holy Spirit in the process of our sanctification, but God is the faithful one who does the deep work of transformation. Paul's final exhortation in his first letter to the church in Thessalonica reveals that this beautiful truth to us as he proclaims, May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it. 1 Thessalonians 5 23-24 God will sanctify us because he wants to see us conformed to the image of Christ. When we're saved, We're given Christ's righteousness, and that will never change, no matter what. Our position in Christ is forever fixed. Nothing can snatch us from His hand. We will never be perfect this side of heaven, which is why we rest in the finished work of the cross of Christ. But we should be walking in holiness little by little each passing day. One way this occurs in our lives is is through studying the scriptures and other spiritual disciplines such as prayer, serving others, and consistent discipleship and evangelism. The Spirit of God guides us into all truth and convicts our hearts of sin. The more we study the Bible and exercise spiritual discipline, the more the Holy Spirit renews our minds. This renewal of the mind helps us to think on eternal matters, and soon, worldly thinking and fleshly desires become less of a temptation for us, the longer we walk with the Lord. Our behavior and attitude begin to change, and God gives us a desire to love, obey, and serve Him with fervor. This transformation is something I am so grateful to have experienced these last 11 years. I cannot wait to see what the next 11 years and beyond, Lord willing, have in store for me. May the God of peace continue to sanctify us through and through. Let's pray. Father God, I long for my life to reflect you so that others see how excellent and perfect your ways are compared to the ways of this world that has fallen corrupt and void of your perfect love and truth. I often fail and give in to fleshly temptation, and I thank you that I've been justified and have been made righteous in your sight because of your Son, Jesus Christ. You still desire for me to mature and grow in my walk despite my shortcomings and You are a God who transforms and purifies, so I ask that you would help me renew my mind with your word so that I can know the good, acceptable, and perfect will of yours and see my life conformed to the image of your Son. You are faithful to do this work of sanctification in my life, so thank you for strengthening me in my spiritual disciplines. May I have a testimony of great transformation today. to give you all the glory. In Jesus' name, amen. Your Daily Prayer is a production of Life Audio and Salem Media. O TYM ODCINKU
Sanctification — being set apart, made holy, conformed to the image of Christ — is not a self-improvement project. It is the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit in the life of every believer, and 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 makes the most encouraging promise imaginable: the One who calls you is faithful, and He will do it. Emily reminds us that our position in Christ is forever fixed — nothing can snatch us from His hand. But while we rest in the finished work of the cross, we are also called to partner with the Spirit through Scripture, prayer, service, and discipleship, allowing Him to renew our minds and gradually loosen the grip of worldly thinking and fleshly desire. The goal is not perfection this side of heaven — it is a life that, day by day and year by year, looks a little more like Jesus.
Today's Bible Verse
"May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it." — 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24, NIV
Ponder Today
- Sanctification is God's work, not yours alone. You partner with the Holy Spirit in the process — but the deep, transforming work of making you holy belongs to the faithful God who called you. Rest in that.
- Your position in Christ is forever fixed. No failure, no stumble, and no season of spiritual dryness can change what Christ has already secured for you. Sanctification flows from that settled foundation — it does not establish it.
- Holiness grows gradually, not overnight. The goal is not perfection this side of heaven but a life that, day by day, looks increasingly like Jesus. Small, steady steps of obedience matter more than dramatic overnight transformations.
- Spiritual disciplines are how we partner with the Spirit. Bible study, prayer, serving others, discipleship, and evangelism are not how we earn God's favor — they are how we open ourselves to the mind-renewing, desire-transforming work of the Holy Spirit.
- The longer you walk with God, the less the world's pull satisfies. As your mind is renewed through His Word, worldly thinking and fleshly desires gradually lose their grip. That shift in desire is itself evidence of God's sanctifying work in you.
A Prayer for You Today
Father God, thank You for saving me, setting me free, and continually sanctifying me. I know that I fail every day, but I lean into Your grace all the more. Your grace is sufficient for each day and is such a gift in my life. You are a God who transforms and purifies — so help me renew my mind with Your Word, that I may know Your good, acceptable, and perfect will and see my life conformed more and more to the image of Your Son. In Jesus' name, Amen.
