Section 1
God sometimes allows seasons of brokenness because He is preparing us for something greater. Dr. Dave begins by discussing a conversation with Aunt Deb about the difficult process of being reshaped by the Lord. Like a potter working with clay, God sometimes breaks down what needs changing before rebuilding something useful for His purposes. Dr. Dave recommends A Tale of Three Kings by Gene Edwards as a helpful resource for understanding spiritual brokenness, while emphasizing that no book compares with Scripture. The Christian life involves allowing God to mold our character rather than resisting His correction. What feels uncomfortable today may become part of the preparation necessary for tomorrow's assignment.
Section 2
Reflecting on a conversation with his late brother Billy, Dr. Dave explains the Christian DNA that helps believers remain faithful amid cultural confusion and spiritual challenges. The first principle is to Draw closer to the Lord daily. Whether through a brief prayer or extended fellowship, every day should include intentional connection with God. The second principle is to Never be ashamed of Jesus or His words. Regardless of criticism, believers must remain confident in the truth of Scripture and the salvation found in Christ. The third principle is to Always be ready to serve. Following Jesus means offering ourselves daily for whatever assignment He provides. These three commitments establish a practical foundation for Christian living, reminding us that faith involves an ongoing relationship with God rather than occasional religious activity.
Section 3
Romans 9:20 introduces the devotional titled "The Potter Has the Right," reinforcing the earlier discussion about God's authority over our lives. As the Creator, He possesses the right to shape His creation according to His wisdom. Surrendering to that authority is not weakness but an expression of worship and trust. Dr. Dave then turns attention toward eternity, reflecting on the Transfiguration and the disciples' recognition of Moses and Elijah. He encourages believers to look beyond temporary earthly concerns and embrace the heavenly perspective described in Colossians 3:1. The present world will eventually pass away, but God's kingdom and the joy awaiting His people will endure forever. Christians should therefore live with eternity in view, storing up heavenly treasures and anticipating the glorious future promised through Jesus Christ. When we allow God to shape our lives, draw near to Him daily, and keep our hearts focused on eternity, we discover that surrendering to His purposes prepares us for a joy this world could never provide.
