S2S Author Interview: "The False Equation" by Ryan Roth

Does secularism truly deserve credit for rationality, scientific progress, and tolerance?

In this S2S Books interview, author Ryan Roth discusses his new book, *The False Equation: Challenging the Claim that Secularism Equals Rationality and Tolerance*.

Ryan examines the historical narrative that equates secularism with reason and progress. The conversation explores objective truth, the relationship between faith and reason, historical revisionism, the scientific revolution, authoritarianism, and what Ryan calls the “moral liberty principle.”

Topics include:

• The meaning behind the false equation “2 + 2 = 5”

• Whether secularism produced modern science and rational thought

• The religious convictions of influential Greek philosophers

• The Reformation’s relationship to literacy and scientific discovery

• The contrast between the American and French Revolutions

• Why authoritarianism—not religious faith—is the true enemy of liberty

• How Christians can confidently contend for truth today

Merle Burkholder, who wrote the book’s foreword, joins the conversation and helps explore the book’s central arguments.
