00:00:00.880 --> 00:00:05.120
Hey everybody, this is OnlyDask Podcast recording on a Sunday, October 11th.
00:00:05.280 --> 00:00:06.799
Want to thank you for joining joining us today.
00:00:06.959 --> 00:00:07.759
We have a great show for you.
00:00:07.919 --> 00:00:09.039
We're going to cover a few topics.
00:00:09.119 --> 00:00:13.039
We're going to begin with the Cornell 5, formerly known as the Cornell 7.
00:00:13.119 --> 00:00:18.079
Then we're going to transition into the botched execution of Krista Pike.
00:00:18.239 --> 00:00:20.800
And then we're going to end with some early voting.
00:00:21.359 --> 00:00:29.519
Without any rhyme or reason, I guess you know we'll kind of go with the most, I think, click topic of the day, and that's the Cornell 5.
00:00:29.600 --> 00:00:41.840
And this phrase refers to the five male students out of seven accused in a 2024 sexual assault case at Cornell University who received lesser disciplinary sanctions rather than expulsion.
00:00:42.000 --> 00:00:54.479
And the Cornell 7 uh media reports and public discussions coined the group the Cornell 7, and it gives the names, and we'll put those names up on our on our website so that you guys can you know see for yourself.
00:00:54.719 --> 00:01:07.439
But following the university investigation, two of the accused students were expelled, while the remaining five received lesser punishments, such as disciplinary probation or requirements to mitigate their comment, their conduct.
00:01:07.519 --> 00:01:09.200
That's according to the New York Times.
00:01:09.439 --> 00:01:17.519
So uh I think you know we wanted to dive into this discussion because you talk about consent, and when is it no longer become consent?
00:01:17.680 --> 00:01:33.439
Because my understanding is when this uh Jane Doe approached the university and the DA, I think at first it was billed as consensual, or maybe it started off as consensual and it changed into something different, and then they didn't want to pursue charges.
00:01:33.519 --> 00:01:47.439
Now there's been a huge backlash, and Dane Doe sued the university, and because she sued the university, these names came out, and we were able to figure out who exactly uh was accused in this lawsuit.
00:01:47.680 --> 00:02:02.079
So I I think it's a good topic because you know, when does I think because just in terms of you know just in consent in general, you know, I that's some that's a big thing that you know uh dating, you don't want to cross a line.
00:02:02.319 --> 00:02:15.759
And I think there was some type of uh I think ketamine was involved, and I think when you you no longer can give consent if they're under the influence, and then that's that's a tricky soap as well, because you don't want to put yourself in a position, you know, where that's a thing.
00:02:15.919 --> 00:02:30.080
And uh just you know in general, you know, you know, I'm glad that you know I I don't drink anymore, and it's been you know years, and the same for you, Ricky, and that's just you know a good rule you know to live by because you know if you're not drinking, you you know, you're not really in the influence.
00:02:30.159 --> 00:02:32.479
But uh, Ricky Khan, what are your thoughts on this case?
00:02:32.800 --> 00:02:33.759
It's crazy, man.
00:02:33.840 --> 00:02:35.680
So there's lots of things going on.
00:02:35.840 --> 00:02:45.759
Uh, I think the specifics of it, whether or not she consented, I don't think anybody in the internet or anybody outside of her truly knows what happened.
00:02:45.919 --> 00:02:50.479
So people, I'm sure there's lots of TikTok fucking investigators saying like this, saying that.
00:02:50.639 --> 00:02:52.879
I don't think anybody's in a position to do that.
00:02:53.199 --> 00:02:56.080
With that being said, all the conduct is horrible.
00:02:56.319 --> 00:03:00.719
Um, for those of you that don't know, there was a frat house at Cornell.
00:03:01.199 --> 00:03:10.639
Um, and this girl, this Jane Doe, messaged uh her, you know, these guys saying, like, hey, I'm gonna come over, we're gonna, you know, do some drugs, get drunk, or whatever.
00:03:10.800 --> 00:03:12.080
And then one thing led to another.
00:03:12.159 --> 00:03:13.520
I mean, you're in college, things get crazy.
00:03:13.599 --> 00:03:20.240
They started, they started messing around, and then it became essentially like uh an orgy, right?
00:03:20.400 --> 00:03:22.960
Which, like, hey man, it's college, shit gets weird.
00:03:23.039 --> 00:03:24.560
I get it, I understand.
00:03:24.719 --> 00:03:42.000
Um, but then the issue comes in, I think, for me personally as a father, when a couple of these guys text the frat brothers, the basically the entire fraternity, and said, Hey, there's free expletive over here, you know, come whip it out and come come get you some.
00:03:42.240 --> 00:03:43.199
That's horrible.
00:03:43.360 --> 00:03:45.280
Uh, even with consent, that's horrible.
00:03:45.360 --> 00:03:56.080
Like, let's just assume she consented for every single individual person, which I don't know how, you know, it's very complicated, but um just that conic of itself.
00:03:56.159 --> 00:04:01.039
It's gross, it's you know, it's dehumanizing, it's it's horrible.
00:04:01.360 --> 00:04:02.879
But you bring up a good point, right?
00:04:03.039 --> 00:04:06.080
Alcohol, drugs are involved, you're not really in your right state of mind.
00:04:06.240 --> 00:04:08.879
Uh, so it's kind of difficult to make that judgment.
00:04:08.960 --> 00:04:10.719
Call literally alcohol impairs your judgment.
00:04:10.800 --> 00:04:14.719
So it's kind of almost impossible by definition to make the correct judgment.
00:04:14.960 --> 00:04:22.079
Uh now, for her part, you know, she did acknowledge that it was like a you know an orgy kind of thing.
00:04:22.399 --> 00:04:32.560
She messaged the individuals afterwards and saying, like, hey, you know, all the sorority girls are giving me a bunch of shit that are, you know, just talking shit about me, this and that.
00:04:32.720 --> 00:04:36.079
Uh, we were all just way too fucked up, like, no big deal.
00:04:36.240 --> 00:04:42.319
And I I don't know, I don't want to, I don't know if the exact words were no big deal, but she's like, Yeah, don't worry about it to the two guys, to some of the individuals.
00:04:42.560 --> 00:04:45.439
Now, that doesn't mean she consented at then and there, right?
00:04:45.519 --> 00:04:50.240
She could have just been in shock and talked to them, trying to like downplay it because she was nervous or whatever.
00:04:50.480 --> 00:04:56.560
So I say all that to say consent is very difficult, especially when you're already doing things that are kind of fucked up.
00:04:56.720 --> 00:05:03.360
Okay, if it was just between two people and it's a lot easier to understand, okay, well, then this consent.
00:05:03.920 --> 00:05:14.160
But if you're you're a woman or guy and you know you're having multiple partners in the same session, uh you literally like you could say, you know what, I'm no longer okay with this.
00:05:14.240 --> 00:05:16.319
From here on out, it's uh it's not consensual.
00:05:16.480 --> 00:05:18.879
How does the other person acknowledge that or understand that?
00:05:18.959 --> 00:05:19.920
It's very difficult.
00:05:20.079 --> 00:05:22.800
Uh, so to be put in that situation is all fucked up.
00:05:22.959 --> 00:05:27.759
Um, but I think it gives rise to larger conversations of what exactly is consent.
00:05:27.920 --> 00:05:35.680
And I think a lot of people are struggling with that because society hasn't really talked about it enough in a in a good way.
00:05:36.000 --> 00:05:39.920
I think a lot of young men are hearing as long as she consents.
00:05:40.720 --> 00:05:44.879
Um, like it's like that metaphor with the tea, right?
00:05:44.959 --> 00:05:46.319
You've heard of this one, right?
00:05:46.480 --> 00:05:46.720
Yeah.
00:05:46.879 --> 00:05:50.399
Where it's like you can offer somebody tea, they say yes, okay, cool, they drink the tea.
00:05:50.480 --> 00:05:54.480
And if they don't want any more tea, then like you can't keep on giving them tea.
00:05:54.720 --> 00:05:58.319
Um or like maybe they wanted tea then, but they don't want it now.
00:05:58.480 --> 00:06:00.560
Like, consent's fluid, it goes up and down.
00:06:00.639 --> 00:06:03.360
It's not like a carte blanche to do whatever the fuck you want.
00:06:03.519 --> 00:06:06.560
And if you're a guy listening and you're just like, that's bullshit, okay.
00:06:06.720 --> 00:06:07.759
I'm gonna give you something, okay?
00:06:07.920 --> 00:06:10.240
And if you're a child, don't stop listening, okay?
00:06:10.399 --> 00:06:12.720
Because let's say you consent to getting a blowjob, right?
00:06:12.800 --> 00:06:16.399
There's a girl that's going down on you, you love it, and she says, I want to shove my finger up your ass.
00:06:16.480 --> 00:06:18.000
And you say, No, that's not okay, I don't like that.
00:06:18.079 --> 00:06:18.879
And she does it anyway.
00:06:19.040 --> 00:06:20.319
How the fuck would you feel?
00:06:20.480 --> 00:06:24.240
You've been violated, you know, you don't want, but well, hold on, you know, you consented.
00:06:24.399 --> 00:06:26.560
Like, no, that's not the same thing.
00:06:26.639 --> 00:06:34.480
And so consent even gets really complicated when it comes down to the specific action, and then you think about multiple people, so it's a fucking mess.
00:06:34.800 --> 00:06:37.920
All that being said, the school fucked up, right?
00:06:38.000 --> 00:06:40.160
Yeah, yes, I think we can all agree on that.
00:06:40.240 --> 00:06:43.600
So, Ralph, you you you want to hear a little bit more about the school aspect of it?
00:06:43.920 --> 00:07:04.639
Yeah, so you know, usually when subs like this happens, you know, the I think it's important when Jane Doe brings it to the attention of people in authority, she follows the rules, she goes through the process, and then the authorities investigate and they drop the ball, then I think it's a different thing.
00:07:04.800 --> 00:07:19.839
I think it's a failure on our systems because she did the right thing and reported it, and the universities looked into the matter, and you talk about these Title X investigations, it it needs a complete revamp and an overhaul.
00:07:19.920 --> 00:07:31.040
And I thought that since the Me Too movement, uh post-Me Too movement, these Title X investigations have gotten a lot more, you know, a lot more meat on the bone, so they can do certain things.
00:07:31.199 --> 00:07:35.040
And this is not just any university, this is a world-class institution.
00:07:35.360 --> 00:07:41.519
And they only expelled two of the seven and gave the other five lesser punishments.
00:07:41.600 --> 00:07:55.439
You know, it makes it makes me think of, you know, when you're an attached to a crime, if you're the driver and you go and rob a grocery store and you kill the the owner, that driver is an accessory after the fact.
00:07:55.519 --> 00:07:57.040
You're you're gonna be wanted for murder.
00:07:57.120 --> 00:07:58.560
You're gonna get charged with murder.
00:07:58.800 --> 00:08:04.240
So there has to be some continuity in the charges and why only two.
00:08:04.560 --> 00:08:19.680
And I, you know, I think it it flies in the face of accountability, uh, because you know, and we'll who we'll know how this plays out because right now the DA is looking at it and through fresh eyes and see if they're present the evidence before a grand jury.
00:08:19.759 --> 00:08:23.759
So this case isn't over yet, the story hasn't been written total completely yet.
00:08:24.000 --> 00:08:30.480
So we're gonna keep you guys updated, but it made me think of two uh two jokes, and it's really the same joke.
00:08:30.720 --> 00:08:37.200
And Amy Schumer in her 2015 HBO special, she talked this as the Houdini.
00:08:37.600 --> 00:08:48.000
And this is a guy having sex with a woman from behind, slipping out so his friend can take over, unbeknownst to her, and then running outside to wave her through the window, and which is just rape.
00:08:48.080 --> 00:08:48.639
That's just rape.
00:08:48.720 --> 00:08:49.919
It's not fair to Houdini.
00:08:50.240 --> 00:09:02.960
This was, I think she wasn't credited, she she got lambasted because this came from Patrice O'Neal's the poulter guys, which was the exact same sequence: slipping out, letting a friend sub in and running outside to wave through the window.
00:09:03.120 --> 00:09:05.440
But uh, you know, rest peace to Patrice O'Neill.
00:09:05.919 --> 00:09:15.519
And that's I think it's a joke, but it it brings up a good point of you know, you have consenting two consenting adults, and then you you go out, and it's no longer consenting.
00:09:15.600 --> 00:09:17.120
You letting your friend sub in.
00:09:17.360 --> 00:09:21.200
She didn't uh consent to have sex with that that that person, and that that is rape.
00:09:21.440 --> 00:09:23.200
So consent is everything.
00:09:23.440 --> 00:09:26.639
I hope that anybody listening that you know you check in.
00:09:26.720 --> 00:09:31.039
If it's something feels off, you just say, hey, hey, just you know, in the middle, it can be in even in the middle of sex.
00:09:31.120 --> 00:09:32.480
If something changed, hey, is everything good?
00:09:32.639 --> 00:09:33.039
Are you good?
00:09:33.120 --> 00:09:34.559
You know, are we great?
00:09:34.799 --> 00:09:36.159
And then move on.
00:09:36.399 --> 00:09:43.679
Uh, I think uh we can't, I don't ever want to downplay consent because uh you need that, and no matter what.
00:09:43.840 --> 00:09:47.679
And I'm always gonna be pro-consent, and you have to check in, you have to talk in.
00:09:47.759 --> 00:09:50.320
Before we switch over to our next topic, do you want to end on anything?
00:09:50.639 --> 00:09:59.919
Yeah, I think the school, you know, they the uneven-handedness of the of the punishments to me raises a huge red flag.
00:10:00.159 --> 00:10:02.240
Why these two, why not the other ones?
00:10:02.399 --> 00:10:05.360
Because the school would conduct an investigation, I guess.
00:10:05.679 --> 00:10:15.360
But you know, I wonder, I I would rather I'd feel more comfortable if I knew more about like why the school decided to pursue one punishment, because this was only two years ago.
00:10:15.600 --> 00:10:18.000
This wasn't like actually, it might have not even been two years ago.
00:10:18.080 --> 00:10:22.159
I think it might have been a year and a half ago, but um yeah, it was a year and a half ago.
00:10:22.399 --> 00:10:27.120
At least it's summon out now it's because she sued the university, exactly, and it's her right, you know.
00:10:27.279 --> 00:10:33.519
Um, I think that I think the civil court system is probably gonna have a you know good like a heyday on this, right?
00:10:33.600 --> 00:10:36.960
I think we should all be paying attention a little bit because it has large implications.
00:10:37.039 --> 00:10:48.080
But on the criminal side, DAs, you know, and this is just my short experience, DAs have so much power to pursue.
00:10:48.240 --> 00:10:59.360
And the fact that it they didn't was kind of interesting to me because I've seen cases, and we've all heard of cases, and I'll give you an example, you know, the fucking uh the Central Park 5, right?
00:10:59.440 --> 00:11:01.759
If y'all I was gonna mention that, I'm glad you did.
00:11:01.919 --> 00:11:03.919
So if y'all don't remember that, look into it.
00:11:04.080 --> 00:11:10.240
Uh, a small group of uh African Americans were were wandering the park and they were just kind of playing around.
00:11:10.399 --> 00:11:13.200
Uh maybe they were being hooligans, maybe they weren't.
00:11:13.600 --> 00:11:15.840
At the same time, a woman was raped.
00:11:16.159 --> 00:11:24.480
She claims that it was these individuals with no DNA evidence, they all went to jail, they all served various amounts of time in jail, and that was a long time ago.
00:11:24.720 --> 00:11:28.639
But shit like that reminds you is how much power these DAs have.
00:11:28.720 --> 00:11:34.399
So if you're telling me that these fraternities, if they were an all-black fraternity, you think they wouldn't have been prosecuted?
00:11:34.639 --> 00:11:36.159
Absolutely fucking not.
00:11:36.639 --> 00:11:39.600
Um, so it just there's so much there.
00:11:39.919 --> 00:11:43.759
Uh, and I think this particular case is bringing up a lot of issues about America.
00:11:43.919 --> 00:11:46.159
You know, we're talking about elitism, right?
00:11:46.240 --> 00:11:47.840
Because they're in Cornell, right?
00:11:48.000 --> 00:11:49.120
They're in a frat.
00:11:49.200 --> 00:11:51.200
And so that's already another issue, right?
00:11:51.360 --> 00:11:54.559
You got people in closed-knit community with no repercussions.
00:11:54.720 --> 00:11:56.159
Does that sound fucking familiar?
00:11:56.320 --> 00:11:59.120
You know, of course, that's that that happens all over the place.
00:11:59.200 --> 00:12:08.399
And so I think this is gonna be one of those uh cases that exposes a lot about America, and it's recent, it's not 20, 30 years ago.
00:12:08.480 --> 00:12:10.240
This was fucking basically yesterday.
00:12:10.399 --> 00:12:13.039
So we'll we'll keep and of course we'll keep you outdated here.
00:12:13.200 --> 00:12:26.080
Uh, I will say just because people are allowed, you know, their opinions, I would say try not to you could be upset about the cultural conversation without making judgments on this particular individual, I would say.
00:12:26.159 --> 00:12:27.360
So we don't know what happened yet.
00:12:27.519 --> 00:12:34.000
I would say let's reserve judgment, but at the same time, we can acknowledge that there is a deficiency in our understanding of consent.
00:12:34.159 --> 00:12:35.360
And I think that's fair to say.
00:12:35.440 --> 00:12:37.200
So that's all I gotta say about that for now.
00:12:37.440 --> 00:12:48.480
And I just want to say the Central Park five were exonerated after botch testimony was proved to be course, and these Cornell seven or five have not been exonerated.
00:12:48.639 --> 00:12:50.000
All right, next topic, guys.
00:12:50.080 --> 00:13:02.559
Um according to the BBC, Tennessee death row inmate Krista Pike survived a botch execution by lethal injection on September 30th, 2026, and was discharged back to prison 10 days later.
00:13:02.879 --> 00:13:13.120
This uh was a woman in her 50s who was on death row, who was administered two doses of the lethal uh drug poor pintobarbitol.
00:13:13.919 --> 00:13:25.120
And we had talked about this in our last episode because you know the state finds you guilty, and that state has execution still on the books, then okay, you went through the process.
00:13:25.279 --> 00:13:29.919
Whether you agree with the dependent or not, she was found guilty, she's gonna be executed.
00:13:30.080 --> 00:13:48.559
Okay, the state can execute you, but I think you deserve to be uh you have you deserve to have a a modicum of respect in the sense that there has to be professionalism, it has to be, you know, because you have certain unalienable rights, you know, cruel and unusual punishment.
00:13:48.639 --> 00:13:51.200
You you're protected against cruel and unusual punishment.
00:13:51.279 --> 00:13:53.440
And at what point does it become cruel and unusual?
00:13:53.600 --> 00:14:04.320
And I think we we we talked about this because the IV line failed to properly enter her bloodstream, causing the toxic fluid to leak into her surrounding arm tissue, then working as intended.
00:14:04.480 --> 00:14:14.480
And she experienced severe burning sensations, lost consciousness, and was rushed to a hospital in critical condition where she spent time on a ventilator and was briefly declared brain dead.
00:14:14.639 --> 00:14:16.320
And they were gonna pull the plug.
00:14:16.480 --> 00:14:26.879
But then miraculously, she regained consciousness, began speaking and walking with assistants, and was discharged from the hospital on October 10, 2026 to continue receiving medical care at the prison.
00:14:27.120 --> 00:14:38.399
And this is in response to this in the aftermath, Governor Bill Lee paused the state's only other scheduled execution for the year in order to review the protocols.
00:14:38.639 --> 00:14:58.159
And I think this is a wild conversation that we're having because one, I've I've read about another case where this happened, and the the gentleman try to say, Hey, um, I served my life sentence, I got executed, you guys messed up, then you know I should be able to go free.
00:14:58.399 --> 00:15:01.200
Supreme Court said no, you you're still gonna be there.
00:15:01.360 --> 00:15:06.639
Uh, but this does bring up a conversation about the drug.
00:15:07.279 --> 00:15:09.440
Is this the most humane way to do it?
00:15:09.759 --> 00:15:14.639
If we can't give a humane way to do it, then maybe we shouldn't be doing it at all.
00:15:14.879 --> 00:15:18.159
I think each person deserves some respect.
00:15:18.399 --> 00:15:21.519
And if they're found guilty, all right, fine, we can move forward with it.
00:15:21.600 --> 00:15:30.720
But it has to be in a way that, you know, it does the job, but it also reserves the person's dignity because justice is being served, you know, they will be dying.
00:15:30.879 --> 00:15:42.320
But uh this just just, you know, for me, it just seems that there's a duty of care that the state has to give each inmate, and especially those on death row.
00:15:42.559 --> 00:15:47.679
And I don't think it's asking for much and that just don't botch it, you know.
00:15:47.759 --> 00:15:49.840
I I I think that's just I think the bare minimum.
00:15:50.000 --> 00:15:51.279
Kyrie, what are your thoughts?
00:15:51.519 --> 00:15:52.559
No, yeah, absolutely, man.
00:15:52.639 --> 00:15:54.799
You hit you hit you the nail on the head.
00:15:55.120 --> 00:15:58.399
The duty that they owe is just to not fuck it up, right?
00:15:58.879 --> 00:16:01.200
And like, you know, it's smart on the governor.
00:16:01.279 --> 00:16:02.399
I I can't remember what state it was.
00:16:02.480 --> 00:16:03.919
Do you remember off the top of your head what state it is?
00:16:04.000 --> 00:16:04.879
Is it Louisiana?
00:16:05.519 --> 00:16:06.000
Tennessee.
00:16:06.159 --> 00:16:06.639
Tennessee.
00:16:06.799 --> 00:16:07.120
Okay.
00:16:07.519 --> 00:16:17.519
So good on them for sobbing it and saying, like, let's review it, because maybe there is another way, maybe intermuscularly, you know, like a like a shot in the muscle, a shot in the butt or something, right?
00:16:17.759 --> 00:16:32.320
Um, the vein, you know, the the only reason that you know, and as a medical expert, not expert, but as a medical uh combat medic in the in the in my past, we would be told to give certain medications IM versus IV.
00:16:32.720 --> 00:16:37.120
And the logic behind it is well, if it's IV, it's faster.
00:16:37.440 --> 00:16:44.480
Um that's the only maybe, yeah, that's the only reason why we would be told that.
00:16:45.440 --> 00:16:47.840
But I mean, if it's an IM, how much longer is it gonna take?
00:16:47.919 --> 00:16:49.840
And is that really what you're trying to preserve?
00:16:50.000 --> 00:16:50.720
Is time?
00:16:51.279 --> 00:16:58.480
I mean, I I you know, I'm sure there are some medicines out there that you know you can only do I am, but I can't imagine.
00:17:00.639 --> 00:17:01.679
Yeah, anyway.
00:17:01.919 --> 00:17:07.839
So I'm sure there's some drug out there that you could push IM because usually that's where it comes into fault is the veins.
00:17:07.920 --> 00:17:22.480
There was another individual that uh he was on a food strike or hunger strike before going to execution, and because of that, he was malnourished, uh, he was dehydrated, and his veins weren't properly um, so you know, they weren't fucking there to be to be punctured anyway.
00:17:22.720 --> 00:17:28.000
Speaking of execution, the the one I wanted to hit on as well was the uh the Fort Hood terrorist.
00:17:28.160 --> 00:17:28.960
Did you hear about this?
00:17:29.200 --> 00:17:34.319
Yes, so I did hear about this, and Fort Hood soldier execution will be public and stream live.
00:17:34.400 --> 00:17:40.960
The Pentacon says, and this is of Major Nadal Malik Hassan by firing squad.
00:17:41.119 --> 00:17:45.759
Yes, and I'm glad that you brought this up because uh I'll let you go first.
00:17:45.920 --> 00:17:51.440
Yeah, so for those of you that don't remember, Fort Hood a long time ago, I can't remember what year, but he opened fire.
00:17:51.519 --> 00:17:56.720
I want to say either in a hospital or just like um let's see here, Major.
00:18:00.799 --> 00:18:03.039
I can't remember where he did it.
00:18:03.200 --> 00:18:13.200
Okay, so that was so he killed 14 people injuring 32 2009.
00:18:13.920 --> 00:18:24.319
So you know, obviously, this is a lot, this is a lot of people, and yeah, okay, so he was an intern at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
00:18:24.400 --> 00:18:37.839
So for those of you that are underwear, an intern, at least in the medical context, is someone who's been through medical school and someone who is not yet an army doctor, but he's about to be, and he needs to do three years of residency.
00:18:38.079 --> 00:18:43.359
And there's certain hospitals where they can do their residency, one of them being Fort Hood, and that's where he did it.
00:18:43.599 --> 00:18:49.680
So it makes sense that that's where he did his uh the the shooting was there at the hospital.
00:18:49.920 --> 00:18:57.440
Um, sorry, he did his medical residency at Walter Reed, and then he got stationed in that in uh Fort Hood.
00:18:57.759 --> 00:19:08.000
So he was radicalized, decided to kill, you know, mass shooting, um arrested, convicted, sentenced to death.
00:19:09.119 --> 00:19:13.759
I don't I think maybe they get a choice of what type of death they want to do.
00:19:14.160 --> 00:19:18.240
Um I think that is the thing, but he chose firing squad, or maybe it was pushed on him.
00:19:18.480 --> 00:19:26.000
But the anyway, all that being said, the Secretary of War Pete Hexev said it's gonna be live streamed, which is fucking insane.
00:19:26.400 --> 00:19:45.440
You're literally talking about a live execution, public execution, and it's so weird to me because we, you know, we got this this girl, Christy Pike, um box execution, everybody's talking about horror, it's sparking conversations about the the death uh punishment in general.
00:19:45.599 --> 00:19:53.920
Then you got this firing squad, which is arguably one of the more uh brutal ways to go, at least currently, and that the state can do.
00:19:54.000 --> 00:19:57.200
Obviously, there's worse ways to die, but the ones that the state can do, that's pretty bad.
00:19:57.359 --> 00:19:59.359
Um, and then it's gonna be fucking live.
00:19:59.440 --> 00:20:00.240
I just can't.
00:20:00.400 --> 00:20:03.279
No one was talking, no one wanted this, is what I'm trying to get at.
00:20:03.359 --> 00:20:06.000
Like, what the it came out of fucking left field.
00:20:06.240 --> 00:20:26.960
The only thing I can think of is that Pete Hegsev is making a play for president and he wants to give the country more reason to pick sides because he knows if he throws this out there, this circus, people are gonna have to say, not have to, but people are gonna start saying, I support it, I don't support it.
00:20:27.119 --> 00:20:29.519
And if you don't support it, well then you love terrorists.
00:20:29.599 --> 00:20:40.880
Like that's the false dichotomy is gonna be the uh the you know, the false dichotomies when you have multiple solutions, but only two of them are given to you as that's your only options, but it's false.
00:20:40.960 --> 00:20:47.119
There's multiple options, but that's the only thing I can say, and it kind of like stirs up his culture war that he seems to be a fan of.
00:20:47.279 --> 00:20:50.559
So I think that's why he's doing it, but that's that's besides the point.
00:20:51.200 --> 00:21:01.519
So I'll say this there's a risk of martyrdom and propaganda because you know, this gives them a platform, attention, and martyr status by killing them online.
00:21:01.839 --> 00:21:20.319
I think you know, there's human rights violations and international law concerns because you have that if this is being live streamed, then the execution turns into a public spectacle, amounting to cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment that violates international human rights standards, such as the convention against torture.
00:21:20.559 --> 00:21:35.759
So, you know, these are these kind of things are are you talking about in uh in communist states like Korea, North Korea, you know, these public educations, not in the flag Bedek Liberty of America.
00:21:36.160 --> 00:21:46.400
And I think it's that's it's an it's something that I don't think we should be taken lightly because you know we have a chance there's also that you know kids can come and look.
00:21:46.480 --> 00:21:48.720
You know, do you want your kids to see this?
00:21:48.960 --> 00:21:53.119
And maybe some of you don't do, but I sure as hell don't.
00:21:53.359 --> 00:21:57.920
Cause that just the the nature of it's very graphic and violent and it desensitized you.
00:21:58.000 --> 00:21:59.759
Cause I know we talked about this before in the podcast.
00:22:00.240 --> 00:22:02.799
You know, looking at all these videos that are on the internet.
00:22:03.039 --> 00:22:03.359
Yeah.
00:22:03.599 --> 00:22:08.480
But, you know, um according to you know Reuters, you know, the U.S.
00:22:08.559 --> 00:22:16.079
Supreme Court said in a unanimous 1879 decision that execution by firing squad is not cruel and unusual punishment prohibited by the Constitution.
00:22:16.480 --> 00:22:22.960
But the Uniform Code of Military Justice, the president is the only person who can approve a death sentence for a member of the U.S.
00:22:23.039 --> 00:22:34.079
Armed Services and President Donald Trump on October 5th signed off on the Pentagon's Pentagon's plan to execute the Fort Hood gunman Nagal, Nadal Hassan, a former armor psychiatrist.
00:22:34.319 --> 00:22:38.960
Um so I'm not gonna be tuning in if this goes through.
00:22:39.039 --> 00:22:42.960
And it because I'm sure there's gonna be some uh lawsuits.
00:22:43.119 --> 00:22:48.240
They're sure there's gonna be some, there may be a stay at a federal court, then it's gonna make its way to the Supreme Court.
00:22:48.640 --> 00:23:01.119
And then my my gut feeling is it's gonna be it's gonna happen because the court supermajority conservatives justice, it's gonna be approved, and it's gonna be approved by unwritten order.
00:23:01.599 --> 00:23:10.640
And yep, I think that's I I don't think that's good because if you're gonna approve it, fine, approve it, but justify it, you know.
00:23:10.799 --> 00:23:13.759
Let's have that conversation because this is here.
00:23:13.920 --> 00:23:15.440
This is not there's not the next one.
00:23:15.519 --> 00:23:20.640
We're here now, we're facing this is the the impossible, and it's right now for everybody to see.
00:23:20.720 --> 00:23:24.400
So I hope the Supreme Court justices do issue an opinion.
00:23:24.480 --> 00:23:29.839
I don't think they will, and I think that being that, you know, elections matter, and that's our final topic, guys.
00:23:30.000 --> 00:23:32.960
Is you know, uh, we're gonna be talking about early vote.
00:23:33.039 --> 00:23:38.160
Early vote starts next week, October 19th, Monday, October 19th, and elections do matter.
00:23:38.319 --> 00:23:44.640
And I hope that you guys are registered because it's too late because it ended on October 5th here in Texas.
00:23:44.960 --> 00:23:53.200
But uh do your research on the different candidates, and I think the balance of power whole is in is in Texas.
00:23:53.359 --> 00:24:10.319
I went to a bunch of events, uh, Greg Abbott event, um, and I was listening and they were saying that they were that the turnout for Republicans in the primary in March was the lowest it's been in many years.
00:24:10.559 --> 00:24:16.720
And then you think of a campaign rally, you think about they're gonna be talking about substantive issues, and they weren't.
00:24:16.880 --> 00:24:25.759
They were just literally just it was just a fear-mongering event, talking about transgender athletes and boys and girls and you know, girl Russians.
00:24:25.920 --> 00:24:28.160
I'm thinking, bro, that's not even a thing.
00:24:28.480 --> 00:24:33.200
And some of the candidates who are you know talking about these things doesn't even have anything to do with it.
00:24:33.279 --> 00:24:37.839
This is more like federal, and you're talking about county commissioners candidates talking about it.
00:24:37.920 --> 00:24:40.319
And it's just I'm like, what are you talking about, man?
00:24:40.400 --> 00:24:42.240
What do you what do you have nothing to do with that?
00:24:42.480 --> 00:24:59.920
And it's and it's sad because our election are being hijacked by you know rhetoric and that mentality of tribalism, and how you know we all got to be together, or you're you know, you're either not you're not with me, you're against me.
00:25:00.079 --> 00:25:09.359
And so, you know, what we're looking at right now, the topics that we're talking about are a direct consequence of elections, and things changed, you know.
00:25:09.440 --> 00:25:11.599
That's why every vote counts, every vote matters.
00:25:11.759 --> 00:25:22.960
Let's say had it had a different administration, one, there would have been different Supreme Court justices on the court, and then maybe there'd been a different opinion.
00:25:23.119 --> 00:25:34.640
And but we have to live with with the vote, and we're living that we're in a world right now where that vote is playing out and it and it's resulting in public executions, regulated votes.
00:25:34.960 --> 00:25:39.440
No, you said literally like look around what's happening.
00:25:40.000 --> 00:25:43.039
The Epstein list was a fucking farce.
00:25:43.920 --> 00:25:48.640
People are losing their jobs at these high levels of cabinet because they literally cannot do their job.
00:25:48.799 --> 00:25:59.599
Tulsi Gabbard, fucking Christy Gnome, um uh fucking Pam Bondi, people that are just not doing the correct work at these high positions.
00:25:59.839 --> 00:26:03.359
You talk about, you know, think about someone that you work with, and you're like, man, this person sucks.
00:26:03.599 --> 00:26:11.359
But that type of person at the highest level of government, the ambassador to Greece was caught up in a fucking bribery scheme, right?
00:26:11.440 --> 00:26:15.039
And she even messed that's a different topic, but you know, bribery is everywhere.
00:26:15.119 --> 00:26:16.319
So, okay, fuck it, whatever.
00:26:16.480 --> 00:26:18.079
People suck, okay, fine.
00:26:18.400 --> 00:26:20.079
But how does it affect your life?
00:26:20.160 --> 00:26:25.039
It affects your life because these people are the ones that are pulling the strings of other things that affect your life.
00:26:25.200 --> 00:26:26.480
For example, the war.
00:26:27.119 --> 00:26:31.519
You do you think this war would have happened if Trump had a better cabin around him?
00:26:31.680 --> 00:26:32.640
Maybe, maybe not.
00:26:32.880 --> 00:26:37.359
Would it have happened if he had somebody in office that wasn't beholden to Israel?
00:26:37.519 --> 00:26:42.319
Um, you know, somebody that would stand up to Israel and say, like, no, we're not gonna do whatever the fuck you want.
00:26:42.400 --> 00:26:48.480
You know, we're our own independent nation and we're not gonna listen to uh the whims of of our so-called ally.
00:26:48.559 --> 00:26:51.759
And maybe they are our ally, but why are they dragging us into this war?
00:26:52.319 --> 00:26:54.960
And so all these things, it matters.
00:26:55.039 --> 00:26:58.640
And so if you are a Republican or if you're a conservative, awesome, dude.
00:26:58.880 --> 00:26:59.359
Be that.
00:26:59.519 --> 00:27:00.079
That's awesome.
00:27:00.160 --> 00:27:22.480
You you deserve to have your own opinion, but I would challenge you and say, are you really a conservative Republican or are you a uh culture war um you know Facebook Republican, you know, the person that's gonna post a meme and say, like, yeah, this one makes me feel good, therefore I'm gonna vote for this party.
00:27:22.559 --> 00:27:26.160
Because the more you do that, the less they're gonna try to get your vote.
00:27:26.400 --> 00:27:33.359
The more they can convince you that there is a fake problem out there that they're solving, the less they have to actually work to solve the world problem.
00:27:33.839 --> 00:27:38.240
Uh and I think the transgender issue is the perfect one because they just keep bringing it up.
00:27:38.400 --> 00:27:41.440
Even James Salarico was like, Yeah, they keep talking about this.
00:27:41.519 --> 00:27:43.200
They passed a law that that solved it.
00:27:43.279 --> 00:27:43.680
Why are they?
00:27:43.839 --> 00:27:48.000
It's not even an issue, but they keep doing it because their policies aren't good.
00:27:48.400 --> 00:27:54.880
Um and so, you know, I think it's un-American to vote for somebody just because they wear your favorite color.
00:27:55.119 --> 00:27:56.880
I think you need to start challenging.
00:27:57.119 --> 00:28:01.839
We all need to start challenging ourselves and say, well, what policies do I actually agree with?
00:28:01.920 --> 00:28:03.279
And let's go from there.
00:28:04.079 --> 00:28:13.039
And I and I think that, you know, here in Texas in general, like it's a good case study because the Republicans have held control for the past 30 years.
00:28:13.200 --> 00:28:16.480
There's been no blue, no, it's straight been red.
00:28:16.880 --> 00:28:24.720
Republicans control the government and the state of Texas, from the state, the local, all across the board.
00:28:24.960 --> 00:28:32.160
And it's funny to hear them running on things that will help fix the problems that they created.
00:28:32.240 --> 00:28:32.400
Yeah.
00:28:32.559 --> 00:28:36.319
And just going and, you know, back in the way back machine, so to speak.
00:28:36.400 --> 00:28:57.599
You know, we had COVID and then we had SNOVID, which was that once in the century storm that came through Texas, a bunch of people died, and the grid was nowhere to be found uh because it wasn't winterized, and because of that, you know, people lost their lives, and people were charged an arm and a leg for electricity.
00:28:58.000 --> 00:29:11.440
And that was, you know, it was honest, it kind of made me sick because in during times of crisis, if you're going to raise rates, you know, it's laws against that, and you can't you can't do that.
00:29:11.680 --> 00:29:17.279
But these electric providers were able to and charge the counties and cities a lot of money.
00:29:17.519 --> 00:29:21.039
You know, thank goodness be to you here in Brian.
00:29:21.119 --> 00:29:24.240
We did renderize our freaking grid.
00:29:24.480 --> 00:29:29.519
We did renderize our generators, and we were able to provide other parts of the state with electricity.
00:29:29.599 --> 00:29:31.359
And but that just goes for leadership.
00:29:31.440 --> 00:29:34.480
You know, that was, you know, it takes people who care.
00:29:34.799 --> 00:29:45.359
And that's who you should be electing, people who care, people who are gonna change and you know, make sure that we're ready for the next storm and not people who are just crying about you know culture war.
00:29:45.599 --> 00:29:50.720
And I want someone who's actually gonna fix the issues that are, you know, I'm caring about because you look at the price of gasoline.
00:29:50.880 --> 00:29:54.960
I mean, my goodness, I can't imagine what it's like to pay for a ton of money for gas.
00:29:55.039 --> 00:29:57.279
And that's not even including diesel, which is way more expensive.
00:29:57.359 --> 00:30:01.680
And if you drive a more expensive car, premium gas is way expensive.
00:30:02.000 --> 00:30:07.039
And I'm you know, I'm happy, I'm lucky that I drive an electric vehicle.
00:30:07.279 --> 00:30:17.039
Uh, and for all those people who, you know, who say certain things about electric vehicles, you know, I had to pay a$200 fee just for having an electric vehicle because they say I don't pay the gas tax.
00:30:17.200 --> 00:30:23.920
And so my that no one, the gas vehicles, ice vehicles, they don't have to pay that$200 fee when they renew the registration, but I did.
00:30:24.079 --> 00:30:26.079
And so I paid my fair share.
00:30:26.400 --> 00:30:30.720
And I'm just saying that, you know, these these issues matter.
00:30:30.799 --> 00:30:37.839
And you have to look at what it your bottom line, you know, what's does your do you put food on the table or do you put gas to get you to work for the week?
00:30:38.000 --> 00:30:42.000
What you know, what these are real issues that affect Americans every day.
00:30:42.319 --> 00:31:00.000
And I want to go with the candidate to who's gonna fix and lower my taxes because you look at the voucher system, which was basically a a thing so that rich people could get money back for sending their kids to private school, which they're already gonna send their kids to private school.
00:31:00.079 --> 00:31:00.720
They just want money back.
00:31:00.799 --> 00:31:11.039
And so that was the you know, you I was I would say I would argue that people should look into James Telarico because he says that you know that that's a subsidy for rich people.
00:31:11.200 --> 00:31:12.319
Like, should they be getting that?
00:31:12.400 --> 00:31:15.039
You know, should it be for the people who need it?
00:31:15.279 --> 00:31:26.880
And we can go all day and all this, but I would just say that in Texas, the Republicans controlled this state for the past 30 years, and there's a real opportunity for it to change this November.
00:31:27.039 --> 00:31:29.440
And I and I'm encouraging everybody to go out and vote.
00:31:29.519 --> 00:31:31.519
You know, vote your conscience, vote how you feel.
00:31:31.599 --> 00:31:35.039
And if you feel like the Republicans are doing a great job, then hey, vote for them.
00:31:35.119 --> 00:31:36.720
You know, there's no nothing wrong with it.
00:31:36.880 --> 00:31:48.720
I just just know that for the issues that you know affect me and they're my kitchen table, you know, the price of gas has gone up, the price of cost of food has gone up, uh, everything's more expensive than it used to be.
00:31:48.799 --> 00:31:51.759
And I have less money at the end of the day to go towards different things.
00:31:52.000 --> 00:31:55.839
And I think that's a direct reflection of the leadership that we have in our state.
00:31:56.000 --> 00:31:57.759
But guys, this is the OnlyDas Podcast.
00:31:57.920 --> 00:32:01.920
You have any tips, comments, or suggestions, please reach out to us at only datspodcast at gmo.com.
00:32:02.000 --> 00:32:03.279
Ricky, you got the last word.
00:32:03.519 --> 00:32:09.440
Uh, don't be afraid to vote non-partisan throughout your ballot.
00:32:09.680 --> 00:32:13.920
What I mean by that is if you think the governor should be Republican, vote Republican governor.
00:32:14.000 --> 00:32:16.400
If you think the Senate should be Democrat, vote that.
00:32:16.880 --> 00:32:17.440
Do that.
00:32:17.599 --> 00:32:26.640
That is better than just going straight straight party ticket because you're basically giving them a blank check and they're not gonna they're not gonna pay you back.
00:32:26.799 --> 00:32:28.880
So that's all I say about that.
00:32:29.519 --> 00:32:30.799
Only Dad's podcast.
00:00:00.880 --> 00:00:05.120
Hey everybody, this is OnlyDask Podcast recording on a Sunday, October 11th.
00:00:05.280 --> 00:00:06.799
Want to thank you for joining joining us today.
00:00:06.959 --> 00:00:07.759
We have a great show for you.
00:00:07.919 --> 00:00:09.039
We're going to cover a few topics.
00:00:09.119 --> 00:00:13.039
We're going to begin with the Cornell 5, formerly known as the Cornell 7.
00:00:13.119 --> 00:00:18.079
Then we're going to transition into the botched execution of Krista Pike.
00:00:18.239 --> 00:00:20.800
And then we're going to end with some early voting.
00:00:21.359 --> 00:00:29.519
Without any rhyme or reason, I guess you know we'll kind of go with the most, I think, click topic of the day, and that's the Cornell 5.
00:00:29.600 --> 00:00:41.840
And this phrase refers to the five male students out of seven accused in a 2024 sexual assault case at Cornell University who received lesser disciplinary sanctions rather than expulsion.
00:00:42.000 --> 00:00:54.479
And the Cornell 7 uh media reports and public discussions coined the group the Cornell 7, and it gives the names, and we'll put those names up on our on our website so that you guys can you know see for yourself.
00:00:54.719 --> 00:01:07.439
But following the university investigation, two of the accused students were expelled, while the remaining five received lesser punishments, such as disciplinary probation or requirements to mitigate their comment, their conduct.
00:01:07.519 --> 00:01:09.200
That's according to the New York Times.
00:01:09.439 --> 00:01:17.519
So uh I think you know we wanted to dive into this discussion because you talk about consent, and when is it no longer become consent?
00:01:17.680 --> 00:01:33.439
Because my understanding is when this uh Jane Doe approached the university and the DA, I think at first it was billed as consensual, or maybe it started off as consensual and it changed into something different, and then they didn't want to pursue charges.
00:01:33.519 --> 00:01:47.439
Now there's been a huge backlash, and Dane Doe sued the university, and because she sued the university, these names came out, and we were able to figure out who exactly uh was accused in this lawsuit.
00:01:47.680 --> 00:02:02.079
So I I think it's a good topic because you know, when does I think because just in terms of you know just in consent in general, you know, I that's some that's a big thing that you know uh dating, you don't want to cross a line.
00:02:02.319 --> 00:02:15.759
And I think there was some type of uh I think ketamine was involved, and I think when you you no longer can give consent if they're under the influence, and then that's that's a tricky soap as well, because you don't want to put yourself in a position, you know, where that's a thing.
00:02:15.919 --> 00:02:30.080
And uh just you know in general, you know, you know, I'm glad that you know I I don't drink anymore, and it's been you know years, and the same for you, Ricky, and that's just you know a good rule you know to live by because you know if you're not drinking, you you know, you're not really in the influence.
00:02:30.159 --> 00:02:32.479
But uh, Ricky Khan, what are your thoughts on this case?
00:02:32.800 --> 00:02:33.759
It's crazy, man.
00:02:33.840 --> 00:02:35.680
So there's lots of things going on.
00:02:35.840 --> 00:02:45.759
Uh, I think the specifics of it, whether or not she consented, I don't think anybody in the internet or anybody outside of her truly knows what happened.
00:02:45.919 --> 00:02:50.479
So people, I'm sure there's lots of TikTok fucking investigators saying like this, saying that.
00:02:50.639 --> 00:02:52.879
I don't think anybody's in a position to do that.
00:02:53.199 --> 00:02:56.080
With that being said, all the conduct is horrible.
00:02:56.319 --> 00:03:00.719
Um, for those of you that don't know, there was a frat house at Cornell.
00:03:01.199 --> 00:03:10.639
Um, and this girl, this Jane Doe, messaged uh her, you know, these guys saying, like, hey, I'm gonna come over, we're gonna, you know, do some drugs, get drunk, or whatever.
00:03:10.800 --> 00:03:12.080
And then one thing led to another.
00:03:12.159 --> 00:03:13.520
I mean, you're in college, things get crazy.
00:03:13.599 --> 00:03:20.240
They started, they started messing around, and then it became essentially like uh an orgy, right?
00:03:20.400 --> 00:03:22.960
Which, like, hey man, it's college, shit gets weird.
00:03:23.039 --> 00:03:24.560
I get it, I understand.
00:03:24.719 --> 00:03:42.000
Um, but then the issue comes in, I think, for me personally as a father, when a couple of these guys text the frat brothers, the basically the entire fraternity, and said, Hey, there's free expletive over here, you know, come whip it out and come come get you some.
00:03:42.240 --> 00:03:43.199
That's horrible.
00:03:43.360 --> 00:03:45.280
Uh, even with consent, that's horrible.
00:03:45.360 --> 00:03:56.080
Like, let's just assume she consented for every single individual person, which I don't know how, you know, it's very complicated, but um just that conic of itself.
00:03:56.159 --> 00:04:01.039
It's gross, it's you know, it's dehumanizing, it's it's horrible.
00:04:01.360 --> 00:04:02.879
But you bring up a good point, right?
00:04:03.039 --> 00:04:06.080
Alcohol, drugs are involved, you're not really in your right state of mind.
00:04:06.240 --> 00:04:08.879
Uh, so it's kind of difficult to make that judgment.
00:04:08.960 --> 00:04:10.719
Call literally alcohol impairs your judgment.
00:04:10.800 --> 00:04:14.719
So it's kind of almost impossible by definition to make the correct judgment.
00:04:14.960 --> 00:04:22.079
Uh now, for her part, you know, she did acknowledge that it was like a you know an orgy kind of thing.
00:04:22.399 --> 00:04:32.560
She messaged the individuals afterwards and saying, like, hey, you know, all the sorority girls are giving me a bunch of shit that are, you know, just talking shit about me, this and that.
00:04:32.720 --> 00:04:36.079
Uh, we were all just way too fucked up, like, no big deal.
00:04:36.240 --> 00:04:42.319
And I I don't know, I don't want to, I don't know if the exact words were no big deal, but she's like, Yeah, don't worry about it to the two guys, to some of the individuals.
00:04:42.560 --> 00:04:45.439
Now, that doesn't mean she consented at then and there, right?
00:04:45.519 --> 00:04:50.240
She could have just been in shock and talked to them, trying to like downplay it because she was nervous or whatever.
00:04:50.480 --> 00:04:56.560
So I say all that to say consent is very difficult, especially when you're already doing things that are kind of fucked up.
00:04:56.720 --> 00:05:03.360
Okay, if it was just between two people and it's a lot easier to understand, okay, well, then this consent.
00:05:03.920 --> 00:05:14.160
But if you're you're a woman or guy and you know you're having multiple partners in the same session, uh you literally like you could say, you know what, I'm no longer okay with this.
00:05:14.240 --> 00:05:16.319
From here on out, it's uh it's not consensual.
00:05:16.480 --> 00:05:18.879
How does the other person acknowledge that or understand that?
00:05:18.959 --> 00:05:19.920
It's very difficult.
00:05:20.079 --> 00:05:22.800
Uh, so to be put in that situation is all fucked up.
00:05:22.959 --> 00:05:27.759
Um, but I think it gives rise to larger conversations of what exactly is consent.
00:05:27.920 --> 00:05:35.680
And I think a lot of people are struggling with that because society hasn't really talked about it enough in a in a good way.
00:05:36.000 --> 00:05:39.920
I think a lot of young men are hearing as long as she consents.
00:05:40.720 --> 00:05:44.879
Um, like it's like that metaphor with the tea, right?
00:05:44.959 --> 00:05:46.319
You've heard of this one, right?
00:05:46.480 --> 00:05:46.720
Yeah.
00:05:46.879 --> 00:05:50.399
Where it's like you can offer somebody tea, they say yes, okay, cool, they drink the tea.
00:05:50.480 --> 00:05:54.480
And if they don't want any more tea, then like you can't keep on giving them tea.
00:05:54.720 --> 00:05:58.319
Um or like maybe they wanted tea then, but they don't want it now.
00:05:58.480 --> 00:06:00.560
Like, consent's fluid, it goes up and down.
00:06:00.639 --> 00:06:03.360
It's not like a carte blanche to do whatever the fuck you want.
00:06:03.519 --> 00:06:06.560
And if you're a guy listening and you're just like, that's bullshit, okay.
00:06:06.720 --> 00:06:07.759
I'm gonna give you something, okay?
00:06:07.920 --> 00:06:10.240
And if you're a child, don't stop listening, okay?
00:06:10.399 --> 00:06:12.720
Because let's say you consent to getting a blowjob, right?
00:06:12.800 --> 00:06:16.399
There's a girl that's going down on you, you love it, and she says, I want to shove my finger up your ass.
00:06:16.480 --> 00:06:18.000
And you say, No, that's not okay, I don't like that.
00:06:18.079 --> 00:06:18.879
And she does it anyway.
00:06:19.040 --> 00:06:20.319
How the fuck would you feel?
00:06:20.480 --> 00:06:24.240
You've been violated, you know, you don't want, but well, hold on, you know, you consented.
00:06:24.399 --> 00:06:26.560
Like, no, that's not the same thing.
00:06:26.639 --> 00:06:34.480
And so consent even gets really complicated when it comes down to the specific action, and then you think about multiple people, so it's a fucking mess.
00:06:34.800 --> 00:06:37.920
All that being said, the school fucked up, right?
00:06:38.000 --> 00:06:40.160
Yeah, yes, I think we can all agree on that.
00:06:40.240 --> 00:06:43.600
So, Ralph, you you you want to hear a little bit more about the school aspect of it?
00:06:43.920 --> 00:07:04.639
Yeah, so you know, usually when subs like this happens, you know, the I think it's important when Jane Doe brings it to the attention of people in authority, she follows the rules, she goes through the process, and then the authorities investigate and they drop the ball, then I think it's a different thing.
00:07:04.800 --> 00:07:19.839
I think it's a failure on our systems because she did the right thing and reported it, and the universities looked into the matter, and you talk about these Title X investigations, it it needs a complete revamp and an overhaul.
00:07:19.920 --> 00:07:31.040
And I thought that since the Me Too movement, uh post-Me Too movement, these Title X investigations have gotten a lot more, you know, a lot more meat on the bone, so they can do certain things.
00:07:31.199 --> 00:07:35.040
And this is not just any university, this is a world-class institution.
00:07:35.360 --> 00:07:41.519
And they only expelled two of the seven and gave the other five lesser punishments.
00:07:41.600 --> 00:07:55.439
You know, it makes it makes me think of, you know, when you're an attached to a crime, if you're the driver and you go and rob a grocery store and you kill the the owner, that driver is an accessory after the fact.
00:07:55.519 --> 00:07:57.040
You're you're gonna be wanted for murder.
00:07:57.120 --> 00:07:58.560
You're gonna get charged with murder.
00:07:58.800 --> 00:08:04.240
So there has to be some continuity in the charges and why only two.
00:08:04.560 --> 00:08:19.680
And I, you know, I think it it flies in the face of accountability, uh, because you know, and we'll who we'll know how this plays out because right now the DA is looking at it and through fresh eyes and see if they're present the evidence before a grand jury.
00:08:19.759 --> 00:08:23.759
So this case isn't over yet, the story hasn't been written total completely yet.
00:08:24.000 --> 00:08:30.480
So we're gonna keep you guys updated, but it made me think of two uh two jokes, and it's really the same joke.
00:08:30.720 --> 00:08:37.200
And Amy Schumer in her 2015 HBO special, she talked this as the Houdini.
00:08:37.600 --> 00:08:48.000
And this is a guy having sex with a woman from behind, slipping out so his friend can take over, unbeknownst to her, and then running outside to wave her through the window, and which is just rape.
00:08:48.080 --> 00:08:48.639
That's just rape.
00:08:48.720 --> 00:08:49.919
It's not fair to Houdini.
00:08:50.240 --> 00:09:02.960
This was, I think she wasn't credited, she she got lambasted because this came from Patrice O'Neal's the poulter guys, which was the exact same sequence: slipping out, letting a friend sub in and running outside to wave through the window.
00:09:03.120 --> 00:09:05.440
But uh, you know, rest peace to Patrice O'Neill.
00:09:05.919 --> 00:09:15.519
And that's I think it's a joke, but it it brings up a good point of you know, you have consenting two consenting adults, and then you you go out, and it's no longer consenting.
00:09:15.600 --> 00:09:17.120
You letting your friend sub in.
00:09:17.360 --> 00:09:21.200
She didn't uh consent to have sex with that that that person, and that that is rape.
00:09:21.440 --> 00:09:23.200
So consent is everything.
00:09:23.440 --> 00:09:26.639
I hope that anybody listening that you know you check in.
00:09:26.720 --> 00:09:31.039
If it's something feels off, you just say, hey, hey, just you know, in the middle, it can be in even in the middle of sex.
00:09:31.120 --> 00:09:32.480
If something changed, hey, is everything good?
00:09:32.639 --> 00:09:33.039
Are you good?
00:09:33.120 --> 00:09:34.559
You know, are we great?
00:09:34.799 --> 00:09:36.159
And then move on.
00:09:36.399 --> 00:09:43.679
Uh, I think uh we can't, I don't ever want to downplay consent because uh you need that, and no matter what.
00:09:43.840 --> 00:09:47.679
And I'm always gonna be pro-consent, and you have to check in, you have to talk in.
00:09:47.759 --> 00:09:50.320
Before we switch over to our next topic, do you want to end on anything?
00:09:50.639 --> 00:09:59.919
Yeah, I think the school, you know, they the uneven-handedness of the of the punishments to me raises a huge red flag.
00:10:00.159 --> 00:10:02.240
Why these two, why not the other ones?
00:10:02.399 --> 00:10:05.360
Because the school would conduct an investigation, I guess.
00:10:05.679 --> 00:10:15.360
But you know, I wonder, I I would rather I'd feel more comfortable if I knew more about like why the school decided to pursue one punishment, because this was only two years ago.
00:10:15.600 --> 00:10:18.000
This wasn't like actually, it might have not even been two years ago.
00:10:18.080 --> 00:10:22.159
I think it might have been a year and a half ago, but um yeah, it was a year and a half ago.
00:10:22.399 --> 00:10:27.120
At least it's summon out now it's because she sued the university, exactly, and it's her right, you know.
00:10:27.279 --> 00:10:33.519
Um, I think that I think the civil court system is probably gonna have a you know good like a heyday on this, right?
00:10:33.600 --> 00:10:36.960
I think we should all be paying attention a little bit because it has large implications.
00:10:37.039 --> 00:10:48.080
But on the criminal side, DAs, you know, and this is just my short experience, DAs have so much power to pursue.
00:10:48.240 --> 00:10:59.360
And the fact that it they didn't was kind of interesting to me because I've seen cases, and we've all heard of cases, and I'll give you an example, you know, the fucking uh the Central Park 5, right?
00:10:59.440 --> 00:11:01.759
If y'all I was gonna mention that, I'm glad you did.
00:11:01.919 --> 00:11:03.919
So if y'all don't remember that, look into it.
00:11:04.080 --> 00:11:10.240
Uh, a small group of uh African Americans were were wandering the park and they were just kind of playing around.
00:11:10.399 --> 00:11:13.200
Uh maybe they were being hooligans, maybe they weren't.
00:11:13.600 --> 00:11:15.840
At the same time, a woman was raped.
00:11:16.159 --> 00:11:24.480
She claims that it was these individuals with no DNA evidence, they all went to jail, they all served various amounts of time in jail, and that was a long time ago.
00:11:24.720 --> 00:11:28.639
But shit like that reminds you is how much power these DAs have.
00:11:28.720 --> 00:11:34.399
So if you're telling me that these fraternities, if they were an all-black fraternity, you think they wouldn't have been prosecuted?
00:11:34.639 --> 00:11:36.159
Absolutely fucking not.
00:11:36.639 --> 00:11:39.600
Um, so it just there's so much there.
00:11:39.919 --> 00:11:43.759
Uh, and I think this particular case is bringing up a lot of issues about America.
00:11:43.919 --> 00:11:46.159
You know, we're talking about elitism, right?
00:11:46.240 --> 00:11:47.840
Because they're in Cornell, right?
00:11:48.000 --> 00:11:49.120
They're in a frat.
00:11:49.200 --> 00:11:51.200
And so that's already another issue, right?
00:11:51.360 --> 00:11:54.559
You got people in closed-knit community with no repercussions.
00:11:54.720 --> 00:11:56.159
Does that sound fucking familiar?
00:11:56.320 --> 00:11:59.120
You know, of course, that's that that happens all over the place.
00:11:59.200 --> 00:12:08.399
And so I think this is gonna be one of those uh cases that exposes a lot about America, and it's recent, it's not 20, 30 years ago.
00:12:08.480 --> 00:12:10.240
This was fucking basically yesterday.
00:12:10.399 --> 00:12:13.039
So we'll we'll keep and of course we'll keep you outdated here.
00:12:13.200 --> 00:12:26.080
Uh, I will say just because people are allowed, you know, their opinions, I would say try not to you could be upset about the cultural conversation without making judgments on this particular individual, I would say.
00:12:26.159 --> 00:12:27.360
So we don't know what happened yet.
00:12:27.519 --> 00:12:34.000
I would say let's reserve judgment, but at the same time, we can acknowledge that there is a deficiency in our understanding of consent.
00:12:34.159 --> 00:12:35.360
And I think that's fair to say.
00:12:35.440 --> 00:12:37.200
So that's all I gotta say about that for now.
00:12:37.440 --> 00:12:48.480
And I just want to say the Central Park five were exonerated after botch testimony was proved to be course, and these Cornell seven or five have not been exonerated.
00:12:48.639 --> 00:12:50.000
All right, next topic, guys.
00:12:50.080 --> 00:13:02.559
Um according to the BBC, Tennessee death row inmate Krista Pike survived a botch execution by lethal injection on September 30th, 2026, and was discharged back to prison 10 days later.
00:13:02.879 --> 00:13:13.120
This uh was a woman in her 50s who was on death row, who was administered two doses of the lethal uh drug poor pintobarbitol.
00:13:13.919 --> 00:13:25.120
And we had talked about this in our last episode because you know the state finds you guilty, and that state has execution still on the books, then okay, you went through the process.
00:13:25.279 --> 00:13:29.919
Whether you agree with the dependent or not, she was found guilty, she's gonna be executed.
00:13:30.080 --> 00:13:48.559
Okay, the state can execute you, but I think you deserve to be uh you have you deserve to have a a modicum of respect in the sense that there has to be professionalism, it has to be, you know, because you have certain unalienable rights, you know, cruel and unusual punishment.
00:13:48.639 --> 00:13:51.200
You you're protected against cruel and unusual punishment.
00:13:51.279 --> 00:13:53.440
And at what point does it become cruel and unusual?
00:13:53.600 --> 00:14:04.320
And I think we we we talked about this because the IV line failed to properly enter her bloodstream, causing the toxic fluid to leak into her surrounding arm tissue, then working as intended.
00:14:04.480 --> 00:14:14.480
And she experienced severe burning sensations, lost consciousness, and was rushed to a hospital in critical condition where she spent time on a ventilator and was briefly declared brain dead.
00:14:14.639 --> 00:14:16.320
And they were gonna pull the plug.
00:14:16.480 --> 00:14:26.879
But then miraculously, she regained consciousness, began speaking and walking with assistants, and was discharged from the hospital on October 10, 2026 to continue receiving medical care at the prison.
00:14:27.120 --> 00:14:38.399
And this is in response to this in the aftermath, Governor Bill Lee paused the state's only other scheduled execution for the year in order to review the protocols.
00:14:38.639 --> 00:14:58.159
And I think this is a wild conversation that we're having because one, I've I've read about another case where this happened, and the the gentleman try to say, Hey, um, I served my life sentence, I got executed, you guys messed up, then you know I should be able to go free.
00:14:58.399 --> 00:15:01.200
Supreme Court said no, you you're still gonna be there.
00:15:01.360 --> 00:15:06.639
Uh, but this does bring up a conversation about the drug.
00:15:07.279 --> 00:15:09.440
Is this the most humane way to do it?
00:15:09.759 --> 00:15:14.639
If we can't give a humane way to do it, then maybe we shouldn't be doing it at all.
00:15:14.879 --> 00:15:18.159
I think each person deserves some respect.
00:15:18.399 --> 00:15:21.519
And if they're found guilty, all right, fine, we can move forward with it.
00:15:21.600 --> 00:15:30.720
But it has to be in a way that, you know, it does the job, but it also reserves the person's dignity because justice is being served, you know, they will be dying.
00:15:30.879 --> 00:15:42.320
But uh this just just, you know, for me, it just seems that there's a duty of care that the state has to give each inmate, and especially those on death row.
00:15:42.559 --> 00:15:47.679
And I don't think it's asking for much and that just don't botch it, you know.
00:15:47.759 --> 00:15:49.840
I I I think that's just I think the bare minimum.
00:15:50.000 --> 00:15:51.279
Kyrie, what are your thoughts?
00:15:51.519 --> 00:15:52.559
No, yeah, absolutely, man.
00:15:52.639 --> 00:15:54.799
You hit you hit you the nail on the head.
00:15:55.120 --> 00:15:58.399
The duty that they owe is just to not fuck it up, right?
00:15:58.879 --> 00:16:01.200
And like, you know, it's smart on the governor.
00:16:01.279 --> 00:16:02.399
I I can't remember what state it was.
00:16:02.480 --> 00:16:03.919
Do you remember off the top of your head what state it is?
00:16:04.000 --> 00:16:04.879
Is it Louisiana?
00:16:05.519 --> 00:16:06.000
Tennessee.
00:16:06.159 --> 00:16:06.639
Tennessee.
00:16:06.799 --> 00:16:07.120
Okay.
00:16:07.519 --> 00:16:17.519
So good on them for sobbing it and saying, like, let's review it, because maybe there is another way, maybe intermuscularly, you know, like a like a shot in the muscle, a shot in the butt or something, right?
00:16:17.759 --> 00:16:32.320
Um, the vein, you know, the the only reason that you know, and as a medical expert, not expert, but as a medical uh combat medic in the in the in my past, we would be told to give certain medications IM versus IV.
00:16:32.720 --> 00:16:37.120
And the logic behind it is well, if it's IV, it's faster.
00:16:37.440 --> 00:16:44.480
Um that's the only maybe, yeah, that's the only reason why we would be told that.
00:16:45.440 --> 00:16:47.840
But I mean, if it's an IM, how much longer is it gonna take?
00:16:47.919 --> 00:16:49.840
And is that really what you're trying to preserve?
00:16:50.000 --> 00:16:50.720
Is time?
00:16:51.279 --> 00:16:58.480
I mean, I I you know, I'm sure there are some medicines out there that you know you can only do I am, but I can't imagine.
00:17:00.639 --> 00:17:01.679
Yeah, anyway.
00:17:01.919 --> 00:17:07.839
So I'm sure there's some drug out there that you could push IM because usually that's where it comes into fault is the veins.
00:17:07.920 --> 00:17:22.480
There was another individual that uh he was on a food strike or hunger strike before going to execution, and because of that, he was malnourished, uh, he was dehydrated, and his veins weren't properly um, so you know, they weren't fucking there to be to be punctured anyway.
00:17:22.720 --> 00:17:28.000
Speaking of execution, the the one I wanted to hit on as well was the uh the Fort Hood terrorist.
00:17:28.160 --> 00:17:28.960
Did you hear about this?
00:17:29.200 --> 00:17:34.319
Yes, so I did hear about this, and Fort Hood soldier execution will be public and stream live.
00:17:34.400 --> 00:17:40.960
The Pentacon says, and this is of Major Nadal Malik Hassan by firing squad.
00:17:41.119 --> 00:17:45.759
Yes, and I'm glad that you brought this up because uh I'll let you go first.
00:17:45.920 --> 00:17:51.440
Yeah, so for those of you that don't remember, Fort Hood a long time ago, I can't remember what year, but he opened fire.
00:17:51.519 --> 00:17:56.720
I want to say either in a hospital or just like um let's see here, Major.
00:18:00.799 --> 00:18:03.039
I can't remember where he did it.
00:18:03.200 --> 00:18:13.200
Okay, so that was so he killed 14 people injuring 32 2009.
00:18:13.920 --> 00:18:24.319
So you know, obviously, this is a lot, this is a lot of people, and yeah, okay, so he was an intern at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
00:18:24.400 --> 00:18:37.839
So for those of you that are underwear, an intern, at least in the medical context, is someone who's been through medical school and someone who is not yet an army doctor, but he's about to be, and he needs to do three years of residency.
00:18:38.079 --> 00:18:43.359
And there's certain hospitals where they can do their residency, one of them being Fort Hood, and that's where he did it.
00:18:43.599 --> 00:18:49.680
So it makes sense that that's where he did his uh the the shooting was there at the hospital.
00:18:49.920 --> 00:18:57.440
Um, sorry, he did his medical residency at Walter Reed, and then he got stationed in that in uh Fort Hood.
00:18:57.759 --> 00:19:08.000
So he was radicalized, decided to kill, you know, mass shooting, um arrested, convicted, sentenced to death.
00:19:09.119 --> 00:19:13.759
I don't I think maybe they get a choice of what type of death they want to do.
00:19:14.160 --> 00:19:18.240
Um I think that is the thing, but he chose firing squad, or maybe it was pushed on him.
00:19:18.480 --> 00:19:26.000
But the anyway, all that being said, the Secretary of War Pete Hexev said it's gonna be live streamed, which is fucking insane.
00:19:26.400 --> 00:19:45.440
You're literally talking about a live execution, public execution, and it's so weird to me because we, you know, we got this this girl, Christy Pike, um box execution, everybody's talking about horror, it's sparking conversations about the the death uh punishment in general.
00:19:45.599 --> 00:19:53.920
Then you got this firing squad, which is arguably one of the more uh brutal ways to go, at least currently, and that the state can do.
00:19:54.000 --> 00:19:57.200
Obviously, there's worse ways to die, but the ones that the state can do, that's pretty bad.
00:19:57.359 --> 00:19:59.359
Um, and then it's gonna be fucking live.
00:19:59.440 --> 00:20:00.240
I just can't.
00:20:00.400 --> 00:20:03.279
No one was talking, no one wanted this, is what I'm trying to get at.
00:20:03.359 --> 00:20:06.000
Like, what the it came out of fucking left field.
00:20:06.240 --> 00:20:26.960
The only thing I can think of is that Pete Hegsev is making a play for president and he wants to give the country more reason to pick sides because he knows if he throws this out there, this circus, people are gonna have to say, not have to, but people are gonna start saying, I support it, I don't support it.
00:20:27.119 --> 00:20:29.519
And if you don't support it, well then you love terrorists.
00:20:29.599 --> 00:20:40.880
Like that's the false dichotomy is gonna be the uh the you know, the false dichotomies when you have multiple solutions, but only two of them are given to you as that's your only options, but it's false.
00:20:40.960 --> 00:20:47.119
There's multiple options, but that's the only thing I can say, and it kind of like stirs up his culture war that he seems to be a fan of.
00:20:47.279 --> 00:20:50.559
So I think that's why he's doing it, but that's that's besides the point.
00:20:51.200 --> 00:21:01.519
So I'll say this there's a risk of martyrdom and propaganda because you know, this gives them a platform, attention, and martyr status by killing them online.
00:21:01.839 --> 00:21:20.319
I think you know, there's human rights violations and international law concerns because you have that if this is being live streamed, then the execution turns into a public spectacle, amounting to cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment that violates international human rights standards, such as the convention against torture.
00:21:20.559 --> 00:21:35.759
So, you know, these are these kind of things are are you talking about in uh in communist states like Korea, North Korea, you know, these public educations, not in the flag Bedek Liberty of America.
00:21:36.160 --> 00:21:46.400
And I think it's that's it's an it's something that I don't think we should be taken lightly because you know we have a chance there's also that you know kids can come and look.
00:21:46.480 --> 00:21:48.720
You know, do you want your kids to see this?
00:21:48.960 --> 00:21:53.119
And maybe some of you don't do, but I sure as hell don't.
00:21:53.359 --> 00:21:57.920
Cause that just the the nature of it's very graphic and violent and it desensitized you.
00:21:58.000 --> 00:21:59.759
Cause I know we talked about this before in the podcast.
00:22:00.240 --> 00:22:02.799
You know, looking at all these videos that are on the internet.
00:22:03.039 --> 00:22:03.359
Yeah.
00:22:03.599 --> 00:22:08.480
But, you know, um according to you know Reuters, you know, the U.S.
00:22:08.559 --> 00:22:16.079
Supreme Court said in a unanimous 1879 decision that execution by firing squad is not cruel and unusual punishment prohibited by the Constitution.
00:22:16.480 --> 00:22:22.960
But the Uniform Code of Military Justice, the president is the only person who can approve a death sentence for a member of the U.S.
00:22:23.039 --> 00:22:34.079
Armed Services and President Donald Trump on October 5th signed off on the Pentagon's Pentagon's plan to execute the Fort Hood gunman Nagal, Nadal Hassan, a former armor psychiatrist.
00:22:34.319 --> 00:22:38.960
Um so I'm not gonna be tuning in if this goes through.
00:22:39.039 --> 00:22:42.960
And it because I'm sure there's gonna be some uh lawsuits.
00:22:43.119 --> 00:22:48.240
They're sure there's gonna be some, there may be a stay at a federal court, then it's gonna make its way to the Supreme Court.
00:22:48.640 --> 00:23:01.119
And then my my gut feeling is it's gonna be it's gonna happen because the court supermajority conservatives justice, it's gonna be approved, and it's gonna be approved by unwritten order.
00:23:01.599 --> 00:23:10.640
And yep, I think that's I I don't think that's good because if you're gonna approve it, fine, approve it, but justify it, you know.
00:23:10.799 --> 00:23:13.759
Let's have that conversation because this is here.
00:23:13.920 --> 00:23:15.440
This is not there's not the next one.
00:23:15.519 --> 00:23:20.640
We're here now, we're facing this is the the impossible, and it's right now for everybody to see.
00:23:20.720 --> 00:23:24.400
So I hope the Supreme Court justices do issue an opinion.
00:23:24.480 --> 00:23:29.839
I don't think they will, and I think that being that, you know, elections matter, and that's our final topic, guys.
00:23:30.000 --> 00:23:32.960
Is you know, uh, we're gonna be talking about early vote.
00:23:33.039 --> 00:23:38.160
Early vote starts next week, October 19th, Monday, October 19th, and elections do matter.
00:23:38.319 --> 00:23:44.640
And I hope that you guys are registered because it's too late because it ended on October 5th here in Texas.
00:23:44.960 --> 00:23:53.200
But uh do your research on the different candidates, and I think the balance of power whole is in is in Texas.
00:23:53.359 --> 00:24:10.319
I went to a bunch of events, uh, Greg Abbott event, um, and I was listening and they were saying that they were that the turnout for Republicans in the primary in March was the lowest it's been in many years.
00:24:10.559 --> 00:24:16.720
And then you think of a campaign rally, you think about they're gonna be talking about substantive issues, and they weren't.
00:24:16.880 --> 00:24:25.759
They were just literally just it was just a fear-mongering event, talking about transgender athletes and boys and girls and you know, girl Russians.
00:24:25.920 --> 00:24:28.160
I'm thinking, bro, that's not even a thing.
00:24:28.480 --> 00:24:33.200
And some of the candidates who are you know talking about these things doesn't even have anything to do with it.
00:24:33.279 --> 00:24:37.839
This is more like federal, and you're talking about county commissioners candidates talking about it.
00:24:37.920 --> 00:24:40.319
And it's just I'm like, what are you talking about, man?
00:24:40.400 --> 00:24:42.240
What do you what do you have nothing to do with that?
00:24:42.480 --> 00:24:59.920
And it's and it's sad because our election are being hijacked by you know rhetoric and that mentality of tribalism, and how you know we all got to be together, or you're you know, you're either not you're not with me, you're against me.
00:25:00.079 --> 00:25:09.359
And so, you know, what we're looking at right now, the topics that we're talking about are a direct consequence of elections, and things changed, you know.
00:25:09.440 --> 00:25:11.599
That's why every vote counts, every vote matters.
00:25:11.759 --> 00:25:22.960
Let's say had it had a different administration, one, there would have been different Supreme Court justices on the court, and then maybe there'd been a different opinion.
00:25:23.119 --> 00:25:34.640
And but we have to live with with the vote, and we're living that we're in a world right now where that vote is playing out and it and it's resulting in public executions, regulated votes.
00:25:34.960 --> 00:25:39.440
No, you said literally like look around what's happening.
00:25:40.000 --> 00:25:43.039
The Epstein list was a fucking farce.
00:25:43.920 --> 00:25:48.640
People are losing their jobs at these high levels of cabinet because they literally cannot do their job.
00:25:48.799 --> 00:25:59.599
Tulsi Gabbard, fucking Christy Gnome, um uh fucking Pam Bondi, people that are just not doing the correct work at these high positions.
00:25:59.839 --> 00:26:03.359
You talk about, you know, think about someone that you work with, and you're like, man, this person sucks.
00:26:03.599 --> 00:26:11.359
But that type of person at the highest level of government, the ambassador to Greece was caught up in a fucking bribery scheme, right?
00:26:11.440 --> 00:26:15.039
And she even messed that's a different topic, but you know, bribery is everywhere.
00:26:15.119 --> 00:26:16.319
So, okay, fuck it, whatever.
00:26:16.480 --> 00:26:18.079
People suck, okay, fine.
00:26:18.400 --> 00:26:20.079
But how does it affect your life?
00:26:20.160 --> 00:26:25.039
It affects your life because these people are the ones that are pulling the strings of other things that affect your life.
00:26:25.200 --> 00:26:26.480
For example, the war.
00:26:27.119 --> 00:26:31.519
You do you think this war would have happened if Trump had a better cabin around him?
00:26:31.680 --> 00:26:32.640
Maybe, maybe not.
00:26:32.880 --> 00:26:37.359
Would it have happened if he had somebody in office that wasn't beholden to Israel?
00:26:37.519 --> 00:26:42.319
Um, you know, somebody that would stand up to Israel and say, like, no, we're not gonna do whatever the fuck you want.
00:26:42.400 --> 00:26:48.480
You know, we're our own independent nation and we're not gonna listen to uh the whims of of our so-called ally.
00:26:48.559 --> 00:26:51.759
And maybe they are our ally, but why are they dragging us into this war?
00:26:52.319 --> 00:26:54.960
And so all these things, it matters.
00:26:55.039 --> 00:26:58.640
And so if you are a Republican or if you're a conservative, awesome, dude.
00:26:58.880 --> 00:26:59.359
Be that.
00:26:59.519 --> 00:27:00.079
That's awesome.
00:27:00.160 --> 00:27:22.480
00:27:22.559 --> 00:27:26.160
Because the more you do that, the less they're gonna try to get your vote.
00:27:26.400 --> 00:27:33.359
The more they can convince you that there is a fake problem out there that they're solving, the less they have to actually work to solve the world problem.
00:27:33.839 --> 00:27:38.240
Uh and I think the transgender issue is the perfect one because they just keep bringing it up.
00:27:38.400 --> 00:27:41.440
Even James Salarico was like, Yeah, they keep talking about this.
00:27:41.519 --> 00:27:43.200
They passed a law that that solved it.
00:27:43.279 --> 00:27:43.680
Why are they?
00:27:43.839 --> 00:27:48.000
It's not even an issue, but they keep doing it because their policies aren't good.
00:27:48.400 --> 00:27:54.880
Um and so, you know, I think it's un-American to vote for somebody just because they wear your favorite color.
00:27:55.119 --> 00:27:56.880
I think you need to start challenging.
00:27:57.119 --> 00:28:01.839
We all need to start challenging ourselves and say, well, what policies do I actually agree with?
00:28:01.920 --> 00:28:03.279
And let's go from there.
00:28:04.079 --> 00:28:13.039
And I and I think that, you know, here in Texas in general, like it's a good case study because the Republicans have held control for the past 30 years.
00:28:13.200 --> 00:28:16.480
There's been no blue, no, it's straight been red.
00:28:16.880 --> 00:28:24.720
Republicans control the government and the state of Texas, from the state, the local, all across the board.
00:28:24.960 --> 00:28:32.160
And it's funny to hear them running on things that will help fix the problems that they created.
00:28:32.240 --> 00:28:32.400
Yeah.
00:28:32.559 --> 00:28:36.319
And just going and, you know, back in the way back machine, so to speak.
00:28:36.400 --> 00:28:57.599
You know, we had COVID and then we had SNOVID, which was that once in the century storm that came through Texas, a bunch of people died, and the grid was nowhere to be found uh because it wasn't winterized, and because of that, you know, people lost their lives, and people were charged an arm and a leg for electricity.
00:28:58.000 --> 00:29:11.440
And that was, you know, it was honest, it kind of made me sick because in during times of crisis, if you're going to raise rates, you know, it's laws against that, and you can't you can't do that.
00:29:11.680 --> 00:29:17.279
But these electric providers were able to and charge the counties and cities a lot of money.
00:29:17.519 --> 00:29:21.039
You know, thank goodness be to you here in Brian.
00:29:21.119 --> 00:29:24.240
We did renderize our freaking grid.
00:29:24.480 --> 00:29:29.519
We did renderize our generators, and we were able to provide other parts of the state with electricity.
00:29:29.599 --> 00:29:31.359
And but that just goes for leadership.
00:29:31.440 --> 00:29:34.480
You know, that was, you know, it takes people who care.
00:29:34.799 --> 00:29:45.359
And that's who you should be electing, people who care, people who are gonna change and you know, make sure that we're ready for the next storm and not people who are just crying about you know culture war.
00:29:45.599 --> 00:29:50.720
And I want someone who's actually gonna fix the issues that are, you know, I'm caring about because you look at the price of gasoline.
00:29:50.880 --> 00:29:54.960
I mean, my goodness, I can't imagine what it's like to pay for a ton of money for gas.
00:29:55.039 --> 00:29:57.279
And that's not even including diesel, which is way more expensive.
00:29:57.359 --> 00:30:01.680
And if you drive a more expensive car, premium gas is way expensive.
00:30:02.000 --> 00:30:07.039
And I'm you know, I'm happy, I'm lucky that I drive an electric vehicle.
00:30:07.279 --> 00:30:17.039
Uh, and for all those people who, you know, who say certain things about electric vehicles, you know, I had to pay a$200 fee just for having an electric vehicle because they say I don't pay the gas tax.
00:30:17.200 --> 00:30:23.920
And so my that no one, the gas vehicles, ice vehicles, they don't have to pay that$200 fee when they renew the registration, but I did.
00:30:24.079 --> 00:30:26.079
And so I paid my fair share.
00:30:26.400 --> 00:30:30.720
And I'm just saying that, you know, these these issues matter.
00:30:30.799 --> 00:30:37.839
And you have to look at what it your bottom line, you know, what's does your do you put food on the table or do you put gas to get you to work for the week?
00:30:38.000 --> 00:30:42.000
What you know, what these are real issues that affect Americans every day.
00:30:42.319 --> 00:31:00.000
And I want to go with the candidate to who's gonna fix and lower my taxes because you look at the voucher system, which was basically a a thing so that rich people could get money back for sending their kids to private school, which they're already gonna send their kids to private school.
00:31:00.079 --> 00:31:00.720
They just want money back.
00:31:00.799 --> 00:31:11.039
And so that was the you know, you I was I would say I would argue that people should look into James Telarico because he says that you know that that's a subsidy for rich people.
00:31:11.200 --> 00:31:12.319
Like, should they be getting that?
00:31:12.400 --> 00:31:15.039
You know, should it be for the people who need it?
00:31:15.279 --> 00:31:26.880
And we can go all day and all this, but I would just say that in Texas, the Republicans controlled this state for the past 30 years, and there's a real opportunity for it to change this November.
00:31:27.039 --> 00:31:29.440
And I and I'm encouraging everybody to go out and vote.
00:31:29.519 --> 00:31:31.519
You know, vote your conscience, vote how you feel.
00:31:31.599 --> 00:31:35.039
And if you feel like the Republicans are doing a great job, then hey, vote for them.
00:31:35.119 --> 00:31:36.720
You know, there's no nothing wrong with it.
00:31:36.880 --> 00:31:48.720
I just just know that for the issues that you know affect me and they're my kitchen table, you know, the price of gas has gone up, the price of cost of food has gone up, uh, everything's more expensive than it used to be.
00:31:48.799 --> 00:31:51.759
And I have less money at the end of the day to go towards different things.
00:31:52.000 --> 00:31:55.839
And I think that's a direct reflection of the leadership that we have in our state.
00:31:56.000 --> 00:31:57.759
But guys, this is the OnlyDas Podcast.
00:31:57.920 --> 00:32:01.920
You have any tips, comments, or suggestions, please reach out to us at only datspodcast at gmo.com.
00:32:02.000 --> 00:32:03.279
Ricky, you got the last word.
00:32:03.519 --> 00:32:09.440
Uh, don't be afraid to vote non-partisan throughout your ballot.
00:32:09.680 --> 00:32:13.920
What I mean by that is if you think the governor should be Republican, vote Republican governor.
00:32:14.000 --> 00:32:16.400
If you think the Senate should be Democrat, vote that.
00:32:16.880 --> 00:32:17.440
Do that.
00:32:17.599 --> 00:32:26.640
That is better than just going straight straight party ticket because you're basically giving them a blank check and they're not gonna they're not gonna pay you back.
00:32:26.799 --> 00:32:28.880
So that's all I say about that.
00:32:29.519 --> 00:32:30.799
Only Dad's podcast.
