New Comics Wednesday: Absolute Batman #17 Debuts Poison Ivy

It’s New Comics Wednesday with a stacked week led by Absolute Batman #17, which introduces Poison Ivy in the Absolute Universe and is expected to be a must-buy. The episode also highlights key facsimile releases, including Batman Adventures reprinting “Mad Love,” Detective Comics #575 (the first chapter of Batman: Year Two), and a Civil War facsimile. Looking ahead, the hosts spotlight several books positioned as major reads going into next year, including Image’s new #1 White Sky (a “ghost apocalypse” concept and the store manager John’s pick of the week), Ultimate Spider-Man #24 as the finale of Hickman’s run with the Maker’s return, and DC K.O. Titans as the end of their tie-in focused on evacuating Earth as the world ends. Other upcoming-interest picks include the Vertigo banner’s End of Life #1, It’s Jeff meets Daredevil, a new Iron Fist-related #1, Generation X #1 led by X-23, Wonder Woman during a brief Tom King break, and Chip Zdarsky’s Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon tied to the Armageddon event. The shop also notes restocks of Absolute Batman Vol. 1 trade paperbacks and the Young Avengers Marvel Epic Collection, discussing how the team has been seeded across recent MCU projects and speculating about a potential Disney+ Young Avengers future.
