I want to introduce you all to Jacob JK47. How are you, brother?
JK47:
1:19 Yeah good, my bro.
Joseph Brown:
1:20 Yeah, good, good, good, how you doing man, Good man Yourself. Yeah, yeah bro, yeah, good, good, good how you doing man good man yourself, yeah, yeah, no, I'm doing well, bro, you know like, yeah, yeah how's the cruise down here? How's?
JK47:
1:30 that traffic. Yeah, no, it was all right, man. You know like everything went well, bro. You know I went and seen my brother this morning. Um had a yarn there by the beach at hastings um, that's a nice area. Yeah, yeah, yeah, bro, I got a coffee and just like, yeah, it was just um encouraging each other. You know, yeah, um just before the day you know and the lord and that like um and yeah, just um, made my way up struggling to find a park there for a bit, bro you know um.
Joseph Brown:
1:58 It's a good opportunity to find patience.
JK47:
2:00 Yeah, that's right, no yeah, like you know, it was just. That's exactly right. You know it was oxen, oxen, god, there, just you know you're right. Just give me a park there, lord, and one opened up right under the shade there too.
Joseph Brown:
2:10 You know, it's just how it works when you you know yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah so it was good, you know, just walked here, bro, you know yeah, nice one yeah well, welcome, welcome on the on the show here, man and um, you know, real honor and a pleasure to have you aboard and for us to be able to talk. Um, you know, music's been such a big part of my life, um, in so many ways, and you know, I think it all starts off at quite a young age before you sort of understand the power of music. Um, there's a power in essence, the music that has been abused for many years, and you know, I listen to some of your lyrics and some of your content and what you speak about. That's exactly what needs to be brought back into the industry. You know, and, as always, I like to start off where it all began.
Joseph Brown:
2:56 So tell me about your story, man. Tell me about Jacob. Everyone knows JK47. Tell me about Jacob, man. Where did it all begin? Where was your early influences? How did it all begin? Where was your early influences? How did it all start? How did your journey start, brother?
JK47:
3:11 Well, it started. When you think about where it truly started, you know so. It started with me being born, bro. You know, god brought us into this.
Dialogue:
3:26 Truly started, you know, so I started me being born brah, you know I brought us into this world.
JK47:
3:29 You know, I got nine brothers and sisters, as ten of us, you know, born in South Australia, you know, and then brought but my dad, my dad and my dad's family from Fingal heads. Fingal, yeah, yeah, yeah. So that's Goodenborough country there, bundjalung country yeah and yeah, so that was.
JK47:
3:53 This was always home, like the Tweed area you know yeah going back and forth from Nans to to Tweed, like Cabo de Tweed yeah, that's where the foundations were, were made, you know with family bro. You know um had big family but you know like a lot of the times it felt like it was just us, like nothing thing, it's just everybody dealing with their own stuff. You know um, but yeah, um, yeah, just just grew up around family and that and, like my older brother with the music, you know got to be in teenagers, like well before teenagers growing up in primary school, like copping his hand-me-downs you know like just everything, bro.
JK47:
4:39 You know how it is. Like just, it goes like that with the music too. So he was showing me all the music, you know. He put me on to Soulja when he came out, like you know, but even put me on to biggie smalls and and tupac and 50 cent in the game, like that's when I was just like you know, oh, yeah, like, uh, really, it was really just that brotherly love. I just wanted to be like, yeah, like my big brother, you know, like, and just be cruising, rolling.
Joseph Brown:
5:06 What was your age difference?
JK47:
5:08 He's only one year, like older than me, one year and like two months. Yeah, yeah, so you know close, and we all like that, my brothers and sisters. We all got two, like I said I got nine, Like, so we roll in, you know rolling twos, um sort of thing, but uh, except for um, two sisters there had us and tiffany. You know they're off doing their own thing, um, and they're just, you know, yeah, just they're good like just out there.
JK47:
5:36 You know, married up, um, yeah, um, now, but, uh, yeah, like, um, just uh, had each other growing up, um, and yeah, just sticking with the music, doing the music. Um, my two little brothers do music now as well you know, uh will and uh nate, they, they do music too.
JK47:
5:59 and um, yeah, like 14, 15, I uh went and followed just my brother who was going over to my cousin Ben's house. So Ben he's, um, he's my first cousin there, my dad's brother yeah, uncle blue, that's his son, and yeah, he was just going over there like making beats. Ben was making beats or making music, and I was like, you know, give me some of that. You know, like I want to have some of that and I want to have a go and have a crack. And, yep, I had a crack. Just wanted to like just wanting to follow in the footsteps but finding my own footing. You know, yeah, yeah, for sure, for sure.
JK47:
6:49 Yeah, from my own footing, you know like and for sure, yeah, from there, just like rapping, you know just doing, doing our thing, hanging out with the lads, um, you know, our dad, our father, um, you know, supported it and gave, gave all us brothers like the name, uh, east coast brotherhood, ecb, ecb, yeah, ecb, you know just the brotherhood, like the way that we like just roll together and and got each other and that, yeah, um, just the boys, like you know, um, so that was cool and since then, man just been, like, you know, sticking together as much, I mean like since jk 47, like you know, since I did my thing in 2019, 2020, with like nerve, you know, hooking up with nerve, like shout out nerve, um, just, uh, yeah, he was one of the one of the first people that really like believed that I could take it like like bro, you're gonna be something like.
JK47:
7:41 He would tell me all the time like bro, like you know, you're gonna, you're gonna like blow up man, you're gonna like, like, do well yeah and so yeah, and it's good having these like people, yeah that fan your fire yeah, bro, big love to know. You know, I'm getting like emotional just thinking about it because, um, I haven't seen him in a long time, you know like and. I'm like yeah, like but like you, just yeah, like he's been like killing it, like yeah you know, like doing uni, like just pumping it out, bro, like as long as I've known him he's just been like a worker bro yeah, like what's he so?
Joseph Brown:
8:19 does he do stuff in the music?
JK47:
8:21 yeah, like he's an engineer, he's like yeah just on his, on his shit like proper and like um taking care of businessmen.
JK47:
8:31 As long as I've known him, and just feeding into to everybody else, like watering everybody else's, like garden and and keep it like doing his shit last. But, like you know, it's good to see that he's actually putting himself first, like you know, like out there, because I've been watching him and, like you, you know it's good to see that he's actually putting himself first, like you know, like out there, cause I've been watching him and, like you know he's he's finishing his degree and and, like you know, like doing like big things, like you know, going overseas and that working with, like you know, one of his idols bro there in the uk and just linking up.
JK47:
9:06 Like you know, like it's mad inspiration and like he's one of the key, like he's one of your day ones. Yeah, bro, like you know, like never change, like you know like it'll you could spend the longest time apart, but you know what it is and you know how it goes and you're just happy to see, you're just happy to, to know that they're doing well. You know, and you hope that they're doing well and like, when you're back together again, it's like you never left. You know, and you hope that they're doing well and like, when you're back together again, it's like you never left. You know, like it's like that. And I got a couple people where it's like that, you know, it's just understood. And yeah, so shout out Nerve, you know, shout out Smack and the whole Brizzy crew, noah Network crew.
JK47:
9:38 That just really fed into everything that I was doing back in 2020 and 2019, 2018. To everything that I was doing back in 2020 and 2019, 2018. That was the foundation, you know, like to keep it real. You know, faith is always the foundation, you know, and my like belief, like you know, foundation, like when you say like let's take it back to the beginning, I think that's like okay, let's strip everything away. You know, you know, even though that's what I've been going through now it's just like that's your mortal beginning.
JK47:
10:11 Yeah, that's the beginning. You know what I mean. Like that's the beginning and the end in the same thing, you know? What I mean. For sure, for sure.
JK47:
10:27 But yeah, like, as far as the music goes, like, yeah, like always knew that this was a gift from god to you know to speak and tell my story. Yeah, because it's all stories you know through the bible. It's all stories you know like you learn through these stories and, most importantly, you got to be telling, you got to be attentive to your own story. You know like yeah like. This is what we're doing here, like getting get into the like you. We're telling our story on here and we're telling a story you know.
Joseph Brown:
10:50 That's the beauty thing of it. Man is like that's what it is. You're right, it's stories. It's your story, that you can connect with someone else who's going through that story and through your experiences you've gained a certain insight about what it means to be on this earth you know and through the Bible, like you said and like we know, like that's other people's stories, of this just amazing story, right? Yeah.
Joseph Brown:
11:19 And then here you are, you get to share your story. That helps people because you know I don't know if you've always been um a christian or in the bible or follower of christ, but I think a lot of people who I know, my brother's one of them and even myself you go through this period where you think it's just you. You feel like you're all alone in the world and you don't have that insight.
Joseph Brown:
11:41 Yet yeah and then that's those times you think it's just like tupac says me against the world. You know, yeah, says on the back here my mate just shout out to bro, my bought this back from the states a couple weeks ago and I was like oh, I know exactly when I want to wear this, but, um, you know you think it's you against the world yeah but.
Joseph Brown:
11:59 But it's through people like yourself, who've been through that experience, who get to share that insight that actually it was never just you against the world. You know it's a whole.
Joseph Brown:
12:10 The story is like interwined through generations and through history and there's like a lost generation there, you know, and a few of them. So I feel you on that, bro, and that's a whole part of what this podcast is about. It's the other side of music. It's like you know, music might be the vessel for a lot of people to speak their story, but this shows this is about the other half of music, you know. This is about the story that that music comes from you know.
JK47:
12:41 So, yeah, I feel you on that brim, yeah, yeah, no man, there's, there's no um. You know, if you don't got foundation like, this is what lays the foundation. You know, like you think you are, like, you think you're deadly, you think you're mad, but who would you be without? You know all these things. You know um culture, your family like these things. You know culture, your family like these things make us who we are, or rather we think they do. You know like we think they do. But, like bro, it's been a long journey.
JK47:
13:19 Like you know, I'm so grateful for family and I'm so grateful for my culture. You know, I'm so grateful for family and I'm so grateful for my culture. Like you know, I'm so thankful to live in this country, on my, in my country. You know what I mean. Like where, like you know, I don't have to escape. Like it feels like I have to escape, but I'm actually on my country. You know what I mean. Like this is like it's been a journey, but god never left us and we're here where we should be. You know, everyone's where they should be right now, whether you know it or not. Like, yeah, and I'm grateful for everything that happened. You know um coming up, you know, and you said like you know, I'm not sure if, um, you've been a christian all your life and and I have been bro, but it's been right we've been trying to break out of that religious spirit.
JK47:
14:12 Man, like that religious spirit, you know, and if you know what I'm talking about. You know what I'm talking about, like you know, um, because we're not under the law anymore. We're under grace Ever since Jesus come. We're under grace, bro, and like this was like that was the start of something when Jesus took that on the cross, bro, that was the start and the end. You know, weirdly, you know what I mean I do bro.
JK47:
14:41 It started and finished right there you know what I mean Like when he was, you know, crucified and three days later rose again. Like you know that story there, like we were saying stories, bro, like you can get so deep into that. You know, like God will teach you mercy, god will teach you grace through that. But you have to understand like what that is Like. We're flat out trying to show it to each other and I don't.
JK47:
15:08 I think it's because you don't even fathom what god, you know, has done for us yeah you know and once you can fathom that, once you realize that everything has been brought to you and everything is done and finished in in christ, like yeah you have everything you need right now, in this moment, you know, like there is no past and there is no future.
JK47:
15:27 You can cut that, those things off Cause right now, as we're talking, right now, in this present moment, as we're bringing things from the unfinished, from the finished, into the present, like right now we're laying our foundation, you know, right now we're speaking forward these things Like it's not um, it's not coincidence, you know, and it's not just words. They say action speak louder than words, and sometimes they do, but like the word and the words, like I'm listening, you know, like and the words in the songs, the words in my songs, and the words that go through my ear gate and eye gate, it's like shaping me, I feel the words shaping me. So, while actions speak louder than words, words are so important, especially the word of God, that's living water, that's living, that's alive. That text is alive.
JK47:
16:22 People don't know that, yeah, I know. And it's just like, yeah, I know, bro, it's alive, like that text is alive. People don't know that. Yeah, no, and it's just like, yeah, I know, bro, like it's so living, like as much as other things can be like real, like fantasy, books, this and that, whatever movies, like you know, like I was just thinking about it the other night man, like you watch a movie and it looks real, but then you read a book and you have to make it real in your mind and it's the realest thing ever. Like people get caught in those fantasy things.
JK47:
16:49 It's like real so real to them because they've made it real in their mind. But, like I was saying, all these stories and all these things, they stem from the one true text, you know, the oldest living text, the oldest stories, like you, like, you know, like, and yeah, these, these lessons bro, like, yeah, like you said before the cameras started rolling yeah build my house on the rock.
Joseph Brown:
17:16 Say that, bro, say this, sing that song for me if you can yeah, bro, so like.
JK47:
17:21 So the wise man built his house upon the rock. The wise man built his house upon the rock. The wise man built his house upon the rock. The wise man built his house upon the rock and the rain came tumbling down. The rain came down, the floods came up. The rain came down and the floods came up. Rain came down, floods came up and the house on the rock stood firm. And it was just about that parable about building your house upon the rock. No-transcript. Blown this way and that way, it's not firm.
Joseph Brown:
18:13 It's not like things change, it's like your emotions or your understanding like they just shift, teachings change and yeah, like you get that modern day spirit spiritualism, you see, like a lot. Like you know you can't judge people because people are on that journey themselves, but you know they get attached to all of these modern day spiritualism, all these shallow words, and they're great, don't get me wrong, but it's like the wish version, you know.
Joseph Brown:
18:43 It's like the watered down sort of thing because, like you said, when you have that firm foundation that's what I want to talk on is that firm foundation, because everything you do, when you speak your words and you share your poetry and you share your music, it's on that foundation and it's the reason why you could stand so strong. I remember back at the Gold Coast Awards I was there, obviously, that's where we linked up the first time and you weren't shaken and you were there with that purpose, really solid in there, and I remember you were talking about Jesus and the room was vibing with it. And that's when you start going. Like you know, everyone keeps these thoughts in their head because the devil's done a good job at making Jesus, this crazy thing, right and they've made the devil look really cool through music and everything which is funny, which is cool.
Joseph Brown:
19:35 You know that's how people want to believe. They can believe that. But when you get someone like yourself come through so strong on that rock, so not filled with fear from people, but you're filled with your, your um, what's the word? Conviction in your foundation, when you said the storms come and the house didn't break, you know it didn't come down, you could see that man, you could see that if you have that firm foundation like you do and if people can have that firm foundation like they should, then if people can have that firm foundation like they should, then they can live a beautiful life, through how much pain and agony we go through on earth you know oh man.
JK47:
20:21 Yeah, man, yeah man, like I was telling you before how god makes sense of these things, you know, just waiting on him even now, like I wanted to come here and just wait on him, like before saying the first thing that comes to my head every time you, every time we go to talk about something, I just want to wait and wait on him to, like you know, lead the conversation. You know, and even though those other stories and that other stuff might not be like, you know, it might be substantial, know for the time being. And that's God's grace, man, like you know, it abounds, like it's here, like you know, where sin abounds, grace much more abounds, and it feels like people don't know, but God's mercy is surrounding them, like there's miracles happening all the time. You couldn't fathom how God does what he does or what he's doing right now through everything you know. So don't try, don't try and figure it out.
JK47:
21:29 You know, I think we're all trying to figure it out, but you know it's just, oh man, stress and anxiety and worry, and it's like the world's moving so fast, brother, like it's not the way that it used to be, like we need to be aware of what's happening in our own lives, like we're so connected to that thing over there, that phone. I feel like every time I touch it I'm connected to everything and everything that's going on and everyone that's going on out there. If I've got it in my hand, I'm connected to it. And you know what my brother said he's like that apple. Do you realize that it's the apple?
Joseph Brown:
22:12 I was like no, because it's got the one right out of it. Yeah, yeah, but did you know the first ever apple mac ever sold was, um. Do you know what the price was? What 666? Do you know that? Wow, this is the thing, man, like it's. People want to deny all these things, but that was a defeated photo.
JK47:
22:33 He's a defeated foe, like don't let him fool you, you know, because he's just trying to deceive you. Like for real, for real, like, you know, like, and he got hands. My dad used to say he got his hands on. He used to say that Devin got his hands on a tweed, like this, but he really mean the world, you know. And when you talk about the industry, I think about the industry, like that too, you know. But that doesn't change us. We're not. Yeah, though I'll walk through the valley of the shadow of death, you know, I'll fear no evil. Yeah, because he's with me. And that's like.
JK47:
23:07 Like I said, you could take a, you could take a verse from the bible and you can compare it. You can go compare it. Versions, like you know, sink deep into the meaning, like, of what it's really about, and then you can go back into the hebrew, greek text and really talk about what's really going down. But the ultimate thing is is like that word is like it's living water you know what I mean and like it's it's truth and it's promises, and it's it's promises to stand on. That's what the rock is, you know. Promises, those, those promises in the word, are the is the rock to stand on yeah when everything's like, you know.
JK47:
23:44 When the rain comes, you know. And when everything's like, you know. When the rain comes, you know. And when the when the weather comes, when the wind blows, you know, um, you know, set our foot upon the rock, you know, and and we're we're not phased, you know, in the just staying grounded too Like. I feel like the when we talk about the foundations and the roots going in from the plant you know what? I mean like, um, like these things here, you know like without those roots.
JK47:
24:32 You know and you can see some trees, you know they.
Joseph Brown:
24:34 They have shallow roots and they're the ones that the storms blow over you know those those what is an oak tree, I think, spun in the may they have.
Joseph Brown:
24:41 They're big as, but their roots are shallow. And then you get some trees. Their roots are shallow, and then you get some trees, their roots go, they go deep. You know, and that's the other important part I think that people need to understand is that you need to have deep, deep roots. You know, and that's another part of it is, um making sure when you do put your roots down, like you say, when you, when you're rooted in, in truth make sure it's really deep in there, because that some storms are big, you know, it's all. It's all great in theory.
JK47:
25:10 It's like that iceberg too, hey like yeah, you know, oh, yeah but the but, the 90 of it, you know, is underwater and you don't see that like the extra, extra stuff. Like that is where the real stuff is. I think that's what the underlying thing is there, like it's not about you, like we think it's all about us, but it's what we're standing on. That's significant, that's sufficient, that's supporting us.
JK47:
25:38 That's like well, because if it's not there, we crumble, we fall down, and that will happen. If you're not standing on the rock, if you're not in on that foundation, that's going to keep you good and the grace abounds to the point where you can stand on a lot of things and be okay. But don't be deceived because, hey, I tell you there's power in the name of Jesus and, like you know, that's the. I can feel it Like I went through the worst year ever this year. But I look the best I've ever been, you know and I feel the best I've ever been. It is the best I've ever been, but it's. But God's been had to strip it all away.
JK47:
26:25 to strip it all away. He had to strip it all away, you know and like for good reason too.
JK47:
26:32 You know you, you don't worry about. Like you know I keep going back to to Job. You know you don't even have to be doing anything wrong. You know like things will come because he's readying you for the next level, cause the next level don't you need to be ready for that? You know. Like you don't know what's happening next. Like you know, so you just take joy that he's molding you the way that you need to be molded for what's coming next, because you don't know what's coming next, like, but it's going to be, but trust that it's going to be breakthrough, trust that it's like it's going to be better. Like you know it's god's going to build you up two times, like what you had. You know, like job, like trust, that it's just going to be more and yeah and more, and that's what I've had to do and that's what I've had to do.
JK47:
27:30 Until what was inside, you know it was just flowing out from my cup like over me onto other people in my life. You know, like, even when they couldn't show me the same thing, nothing could stop my flow that just it's just spilling everywhere, it's spilling over onto everyone and everything I do. Like, yeah, that's what you want. And I had to tell my, my new manager, nat you know, shout out Nat. Like, cause she was like telling me, like I'm going on tour soon. Um, telling me like, oh, like you know, like you know, and she's christian too, so she's like you know, like you know, I know this and that, and I just had to like we've got to remind ourselves, like you know, and and inspire and encourage each other in god, and so I had to just tell her. Look, you know, for the past week I've just been getting back in like I've been emptying my cup for God to fill it and overflow it onto everything else that I do, but I can't do that until I empty it first. So I've been emptying it. I've been like pouring everything all my cares, all my worries, everything that's in my cup. I pour out onto God, not onto everybody else, because what are they going to do with it? And so many people do that with the music. They pour their cup onto everything else and like there's nothing do with it. Yeah, and so many people do that with the music. They pour their cup on their everything else and like there's nothing wrong with it. In other people's eyes. It's just, and that's like, if that's what you do, like and that's your art and that's what you, you know that's how you do it, that's how you do it.
JK47:
28:56 But you know, for me I just can't be of use in that way. Now, you know, I'm trying to be like, I'm trying to let God use me for my intended purposes. Like you know, I like I wanted, I knew what I wanted to do, and then I had to let that go. You know I want to be a husband and yeah, it's. You know, is there? Yeah, um, you want some tissue or something.
Joseph Brown:
29:27 Oh, no, it's all right. No, you're good. No, that's all right.
JK47:
29:29 No, that's all good um so what I wanted in life most of all was to be a father and a husband, because I just wanted to do it right, you know, and at the time I couldn't see anything wrong with that. You know, like if I could do it right, then I could be like, you know, I could fix everything that you know, I could do everything. That dad didn't do this and that I could fix it all like by myself, I could heal myself, unlearn traumas, all that you know. But that's just not the way that it worked out. Man like I, just like I feel like.
JK47:
30:13 Now, looking back, you know it's like it's like god was just like you want to put these things at number one, but I have to be there, jacob, first. You know I have you have to put me first and then everything else will follow. You know you can be a man, man of god, not just a man, a man of god, like a godly man, which is like so hard to be out here, you know, with distractions and everything like be out here.
JK47:
30:48 You know, with distractions and everything like temptations, it's so hard to to I'll put it this way it's so hard to do it out of your own strength yeah it's so hard that you, just, like I said, you need to constantly be empty in your cup, letting go of everything that you think you know, because it never was how you thought it was. Yeah, you know, it's always like this. You know, like new creation, new creation, new creation, new beginnings, new, new, new, always made a new, always renewing your mind. Never anything old coming in, like you know, and never it's just Like you know and never it's just unhindered, you know, by all that, like it's just life and just rejuvenation and just that new beginning, like, but yeah, thank you, lord, you know what I mean Like I don't know.
JK47:
31:44 I guess I was just going on. So what I say is I said so it's never what I thought it was, you know, and it's never what we thought it was, otherwise, it's just standing on that old understanding. You know, like people that are racist and arrogant and this, and that they're just standing on old understanding, they're not letting it go to pick up this new stuff. Yeah, you know, and God's always got that in the Word, you know, it's always there. Those who know the Word know what I'm talking about you know, and it wouldn't hurt you to read the Word.
JK47:
32:18 I don't read any other books in that, as far as I'm concerned, they all stem from the Word. As far as I'm concerned, they all stem from the word and I haven't read the word much enough, you know. So I'm getting back into the word. Really, like you know, there's so much there, like you know, and I'm really breaking it down for myself. I don't claim to know at all Like, but look how I can look how the just like spirit gets brought, brought like to like through me and overflow like through me and overflow like. I gotta just like. Sometimes I gotta just stop for a minute because my words, it doesn't even equate to what I feel you know like it doesn't even equate to that like. I just need to know what I got myself you know?
Joseph Brown:
33:01 yeah, I want to ask you because this, this journey of life, it's, it's an ever evolving experience, right, like when, you know, when you're younger, sometimes you just think about you know, I've got three kids, bro, and one one of you know he just sees what's in front of him. He has no concept of anything outside of his innocent little mind, you know, and that's cool. And then, as we go through it, through this thing called life, we go through the ebbs and flows and all these sort of like different teachings and everything. I have a question for you, bro, like, on your journey, the music, the music industry, is such a such an industry, right? Um, how's it been navigating this industry while being, you know, on, so on, that rock of God? How's it been like for you to navigate, to, like, take opportunities? Do you pray through every opportunity? Are you, you know? Would you like? Do you know who I'm coming from here, bro? Like, how do you navigate this thing as the person, like everything we've been talking about, with putting God first and everything, because you have to do that.
Joseph Brown:
34:27 But for musicians out there that might be on this journey and they're starting to get this revelation and they don't know what to do, they get an opportunity and that opportunity might be the biggest opportunity of their life. But it's counter to, yeah, to what that? To what the bible teaches them. You know, like so for you. How. How do you do that, bro? How do you navigate this? Because the industry is pretty. It's full of a lot of things, you know. It's sort of temptation, full of a lot of, obviously, girls and alcohol and drugs and and all these sort of things here. You know, I just wanted to ask that.
JK47:
35:04 Oh yeah, like I see the industry as like it's not even relevant anymore. Bro, you know what I mean. If that's the way you want to go, go that way. But like, you know, like things are changing and you've got to be aware. Like, hit social media, look at social media. Like the industry isn't just mainstream. Like God is moving. God is moving, like it's gone now. Yeah, exactly this is what I, this is what I'm talking about. You know, like, and even then, if you go in there, like you know, if you cause, I know like this is what I'm realizing now. So I went through at a couple managers this year. You know one was long term. You know I've been with my manager for a long time and he was the one where we broke through together. You know, eight, eight artists, management there, you, and it's all love.
Joseph Brown:
36:08 You know, as we move forward and yeah, like, and was that prayed on bro?
JK47:
36:14 Nah, nah, Like I mean, I was praying all the time yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah but like.
Joseph Brown:
36:18 Was it a mutual call?
JK47:
36:20 I feel like they knew I was moving with God. Ah, but it's like what I mean, bro. Like, I'll put it this way, this is the scenario I'm pushing the car and it's the JK47 car.
Joseph Brown:
36:32 Yeah.
JK47:
36:32 And I'm, you know, and I'm pushing it this way, you know, and I intend it for this stuff here. And if you're not, if we're not pushing it together in the right direction and you want to go this way and that way, then it's just like we're going to run into problems there. It's just not aligned. Everyone's got their own understanding of how to do it. I'm on this podcast. I'll give you mine. You know what? I mean.
JK47:
37:04 In my opinion, I think you need like a team around you. That's like you know, like, like that's family, that's like like I need not, like I'm with, not now and she, like, all she need to do is be herself. You know, like, and we can inspire each other, like in god, we can strengthen each other and fill each other up, like you know, and we're not like I don't have to, um, we're a unit sort of thing. You know what I mean. Like, because this is war, bro, like you know it's war and like, and the goal is to be aware. And you know, like, um pretty sure, like you know, the real meaning of goal is to be aware. And you know, like, I'm pretty sure, like you know, the real meaning of aware means to be at war. You know, I think it means that, like in Greek or something you know, but yeah, like, that's like got to be, like it's a spiritual war.
JK47:
37:58 Yeah, you got to be right out there, you know, otherwise it can break you down Like things and people and stuff, how it goes Like in this, like you know, industry. But I said it to you before, you know, yeah, they'll walk through the valley of the shadow of death. I'll fear no evil for thou art with me and it's evil out there, bro, like it is Like. But we are put here, you know, we have, like I said, the overflow is out of my cup and it goes out onto everything and everyone that I meet, everything I do. You know, like I'm not gonna shut that valve off for nobody no I'm not gonna.
JK47:
38:41 Everybody can get this know, and if you've got a problem, that's your problem, it's not mine. Like you know, like it's like I got no problem and that's what I'm trying to kind of share, you know what I mean. Like there isn't, like it's all, like we have the victory, the victory obtained, we just have to maintain it out here, you know, and you know, like that's it, maintaining it, maintaining your stance, like yeah, I get the state, but what's the stance?
JK47:
39:11 yeah, yeah, I'm no, I know the state of the thing, but what's the stance? Because you can't. You got to know the two yeah, and it's you got to, like you know, set your thermometer so um, so you don't set to the temperature of the room because if I don't look, if I'm not respected and appreciated and I feel god's not felt in the room, I'll walk out yeah because I'm independent.
JK47:
39:30 I don't, you know, I don't have to do what you want me to do. Like, I follow god and those people who follow me follow me. I'm following god. If you don't want to follow me, that's fine, like, but I'm following god. Whoever want to follow me, follow me. Like we can follow. You know, we can all be spirit led and when we get together for a show, it's just, you know, righteousness, peace and joy and the Holy Ghost, that's, that's the kingdom of God. Like that's. You know, that's what I want, that's what I want to see, that's what I want to do, you know man, that's, mmm, it's.
Joseph Brown:
40:03 You know, I've always wondered how people navigate everyone that we've had here. You know, everyone's got their different, their different foundations, you know, and it's yeah, man, it's god's for us.
JK47:
40:19 Man who could be against?
Joseph Brown:
40:20 us. Yeah, that's right, man, like it's good to that's our father.
JK47:
40:31 Man, yeah, that's our dad. Like we all got daddy issues, you know, we all, we all trying to get back to the father, we all trying to figure out what he's put us here for. You know what's my purpose, what you put me in for. Why'd you take me that way? You know what. You know why. Why would you know?
Joseph Brown:
40:51 why? Why, you know. But like you know, like, thank you, lord man, you gotta tell me about how your writings come, come about over the last few years. Like, are you writing a lot of new music at the moment?
JK47:
41:02 oh, I can feel it yeah, I can feel the breakthrough of the next thing coming, like now, and it's going to be, you know, that light. You know um to shine. That's why, like I think that's why people look like to me, you know, because I'm like and every and and people are like like me that just want to share the light, like we're going from the sun catching that ray and just shining it. You know that one ray, like you know, like this little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine, like you know, what I mean, like, like one ray from the sun can just shine so much brighter.
JK47:
41:40 You know, shine, shine so much more, and what? Like we can just be a reflection, yeah, um, of that light and um, yeah, like I can feel it being brought more and more. Um, that's all I want to do. But you can't have the light without the darkness.
JK47:
41:58 It just doesn't work you know, you just can't have the like you were it before, where we are human and without being human, you wouldn't realize that your spirit, you know, like you need both. You need to contrast, like you know, because you realize that you're like, you are spirit, because you bring in stuff from this, from the finished realm, spirit realm, into into, like you know, physical realm yeah here, like, whether you know it or not, that's what you're doing by fear or faith, which, but they both, both mechanisms, operate by faith.
JK47:
42:35 You believe that's gonna go right or wrong. Yeah, without even knowing.
JK47:
42:40 Yeah you know, they both work like that, you know, and like shout out to Creflo Dollar. You know World Changers, you know ministry there, because this is where I get fed. You know All this stuff that I'm talking about. He said you know he's been digging and, like you know, renewing his mind.
JK47:
43:02 Yeah, and understanding it's his mind and understanding it's not even his understanding, it's God's understanding that he's given him every time and it's just like I've been copying this. So, like you know, even the prayer that I said before we started this, I got from him as well. That's what he says before he does his thing. You know, so that it's just all is well. So I just wanted to say that, because here I am saying the same things and it might be like you know, it might be like, oh, wow, he's so this and that, but you shouldn't be looking at me. It's, you know, like it's the content, it's a substance, it's the thing that's been passed through me and passed down. Since you know the disciples, since first, you know, since the first ones that got it from you know for sure been passed down, passed down, passed down, you know, like all the stories in that.
JK47:
43:56 But, um, you know, so I can't claim it. I can't claim anything like any ego-driven, braggadocious things like I can claim that. But that's just ego. That's just me talking about me like anything that's bigger than me. I can't claim that that's bigger than me. That's bigger, that's not even of me. That's passed down.
JK47:
44:15 When I talk about my people, when I talk about things that just like are bigger, that's god, because god is everything, everyone. It's just like he's. You know, it's the bigger. It's the bigger outside yourself, like, and I think things get complicated when we just can't see anybody but ourself and we can't see anything about our problems and this and that, like you know, especially when you're older, like if you're young and that like it's all good, like you sort you're figuring it out, but when you're older, like it just can't be about you anymore. You know you're too old. Now there's babies around, like there's babies here, like your babies. If you don't got babies, there's other babies there, you know, like babies without mothers and fathers, like there's our kids out here and they need guidance, you know, because our elders are passing away these.
JK47:
45:04 These are facts like.
Joseph Brown:
45:06 You know how does our person bro like? It's even back where I'm from, new zealand, most, most of the elders have gone already, you know, and when the elders pass, then that means that people like myself, and probably like yourself we're stepping into that emerging.
JK47:
45:23 That's right.
Joseph Brown:
45:25 No longer the nephews. You know how old are you, bro, mind if I ask 27. 27, yeah, you're stepping into that Now. You're the uncle, you know. That's right, and now you've got to inspire those next people.
Joseph Brown:
45:38 And this is a great way to do it is by showing and leading through you. A great way to do it is by showing and leading through you, standing firm on your foundation while still being able to sustain a music career. That's what people wonder in their head how, how, how can I do this? How can I be this and this? And it's through example, bro, you can be both things. You know, because some people think you know that's one of the questions I've always asked is how do you provide for the kingdom and provide for your family at the same time? You know when one's like you've got to give, give, give, and it's like well, how do I give when I've got to pay bills and I've got to obtain these things. So it's like through example, like this, brother, you can actually do both. You can actually some things you have to do.
Joseph Brown:
46:32 When you talk about the Bible, you talk about Adam and Eve. They still had to work. They still had to tend to the garden. That was still a part of it. You still have to work. You still have to do these things. You still have to, you know, do these um, mortal life. You know what I mean, that you still have to like. Still, jesus still went to dinner, still had the last supper, still went out and lived the.
Joseph Brown:
47:00 You know it wasn't just all one-sided, you know there was always another, there was two sides which you still have to live life. You know, end of the day, it's like we're here to live life as well and enjoy the things of life, enjoy swimming in the ocean and giving thanks. And you know, when you're up on that stage and you're, you're um sharing these, these words of wisdom and everything, you still have to connect with someone because, at the end of the day, like you said, overflow. At the end of the day, everyone in that audience is going through their own individual battles. And when you said, we're in a spiritual war, when we're in a war, you've been anointed this gift of words and of storytelling that you get to take out those enemies in their minds. Because, like you said, you know, when you talk about the Bible, it's like the battle is not against flesh and blood, it's against principalities, you know, and it's against. That's what it's about, man, like it's about all of that stuff.
Joseph Brown:
47:59 So it's inspirational, man, that you're able to stand so firm on your rock and at the same time, still maneuver within an industry that is quite difficult to maneuver when you're putting Jesus first because, it's sort of like being built a certain way for so many years that, like you know, if you hear it like, oh, this person talks about Jesus, I'm not giving them opportunities or I'm not doing this, you know, and they get all weird about it. But here you are, bro, still rocking it, you know, and still doing epic shows, still holding it down, like you've got this tour coming up. Like you know, you're still still taking my time, Still got love for the streets? No, but you know, you're doing it, man, and it's like, while I enjoy the, we talk about the bigger picture, you got to. But most people in this world and where a lot of people are in, their mindset is day-to-day things, is minuscule things working, and they're in that cycle and they're in that cycle and they're in that cycle and it's like you've got to break out of that cycle.
Joseph Brown:
49:11 You know, and that's why I think it's important to talk about as well, man, is that you know, not everyone understands the bigger picture and sometimes you've got to feed, like you can't give a big steak to someone who's had anemia, you know, can't even hold down a grape. And that's the parable, right? The parable is all the spiritual goodness that we're trying to share here. Maybe someone's not ready to eat all of that goodness yet and we've got to like, let's just, you know, give some little crumbs off and that sort of stuff which I, you know. It's cool that we that's what I'm really like vibing on is how you can still do that, such great things, man, but connect with individual people's stories. You know and I think we do that through people understanding what you go through on a day-to-day, you know, and what you go through in your life you know, not just you, but everyone. You know what I mean, man.
JK47:
50:16 Yeah, bro, I just you know, I do know what you mean, bro. You know what you mean, bro, you know um, like that fight, you know that fight, that stuff that you do, it's, it's that balance, that's like completely that way, but completely that way as well like it's a labor to rest. Yeah, you know, it's like a like you know, the fight is like you know. The fight is, like you know, um, it's the state versus the stance. You know, um and like sorry man.
Joseph Brown:
50:55 I thought I thought um no, it's okay, man, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, nah cool.
JK47:
51:03 Um, yeah, yeah, yeah, nah, cool, um, yeah, I labor to rest, bro, like. And that fight, bro, I know. I know well, like, what you're talking about, because out of my own effort to keep my family together, I ended up pushing them away. And that's what happens when you speak. You know when I would speak, you know, about God to my ex-partner. She would just see that religious spirit and I was under it too, because I was trying to do it out of my own effort instead of be like Jesus was. And Jesus embodied everything.
JK47:
51:57 If you go and read and learn about what he went through, he didn't take the easy road. He always took the harder road. Who's going to go and die for their enemies, bro? Who want to go and die for, you know, like their enemy, their oppressor, their, who want to do that, who want to go out there and die for donald trump right now? You know who want to die for hitler, who want to die for those people, because that's what christ did, you know, and we couldn't do that.
JK47:
52:24 We're human. He wasn't like, he was god, like, come down here, but he wasn't he, he was god. They're all free, connected together, like. That's what I had to realize too, like, oh man, like revelation, knowledge coming down on me, like I'm realizing stuff, like that religious spirit, what we thought it was it. It is not what we thought it was, and you had to stay down to realize that you had to. Like we're reaping fruits from trees that weren't, from seeds that weren't sown by us, our elders. They didn't get to see these fruits, but they didn't care, and that's what made them true elders. That's what made them like true, because they didn't they, and that's what made them true elders. That's what made them like true, cause they didn't, they weren't trying to get their flowers. You know you don't get your flowers until you go, right, so don't wait around for them, right? You know when you pass away and when you're missing, that's when people will be like oh, look what's missing, when know what they got, till it's gone. That's just we know how that goes, like you know.
JK47:
53:22 So don't worry about people crediting you. Give the credit to god, give the credit to jesus. He deserves it. He deserves it. You know, want to talk about what we deserve, want to talk about what, what we should have and what we should. You know how slow, how life should be for us, you know, you know, I think about it now. You know, like and like. I'm thinking god must have just been like, because I just read the book. You know, I just listened to the story of Job again, you know, and he had to take Job. Like, do you understand what I'm doing out here? Like, do you know what I do out here? Have you ever been there when I do this, when I make this happen, when I do like, no, like you don't know what I'm doing through these things? You know. So it's just like you know, you don't, you couldn't even fathom it, you know. So don't try and figure it out, because you're gonna drive yourself crazy that's, that's the part man like.
Joseph Brown:
54:16 That's the part that we've got to always remind ourselves on this journey is that when we're not, we are. We are the humans. We are not the gods of the story or the angels. Well, the humans of the story?
JK47:
54:30 well, here's the thing man, like we are put here like in the image. But, yeah, we're putting here in the image, but like, if god's not here through us, then where is he? Yeah, he's here around, like he created everything, but he created man. Man was the top one. Why? Because we, what we do, like you know, our purpose here is to, like, serve one another. Yeah, what you got to worry about if I'm looking after you, what you got to worry about this is how our people work. We knew to go. You know, we knew this like we were close to god and and things happen bro to both our people, first nations, people across the world. You know, and, like you know, I know what you're talking about. I know, I know what you're thinking, rather, and talking about. I know, like you know, christianity, black fella, missions you know all that.
JK47:
55:22 You know what I mean, but like yeah this is it like oh, thank you, lord, like it's all been to bring us here to the front lines, like the last is first now, the first will be last and the last will be first. We're the ones at the front now, like you know, but what we're for? To show mercy and show grace, because we can, you know yeah they can't, I can you know yeah, I don't really care what you, you know, like what.
JK47:
55:53 What people can and can't do is just that's their belief. Yeah, that's the power of their you know beliefs. Yeah, that's, that's their thing right there. There wouldn't be no belief without God.
Joseph Brown:
56:03 I saw a meme this morning, funnily enough, on that belief, you know. And there's this little girl talking to the dad and says hey, dad, where did we come from? And he said, oh, we come from Adam and Eve and from God, and you know. And then the daughter goes oh, okay, cool. And goes to mom hey, mom, where do we come from? And the mom goes we evolved from apes. And then she goes dad, you lied. And he goes no, that's her family. My family comes from here and it's like what you said.
Joseph Brown:
56:35 That's the belief system, like whatever you want to believe. If you want to live your life believing that you come and evolve from, then you can live that, you know. If you want to believe your life that drinking alcohol every single night for your life is the way to live, then you can believe that. If you want to believe that you can have a healthier relationship with going out, then you can believe that. But at the end of the day it's just a belief, you know, at the end of the day, and people believe their beliefs a bit too much, because there's a big difference between belief and between knowing, bro.
JK47:
57:09 I think it's a lack of belief, bro, you know, I think it's like. You know, like, because it's like, if it's like, because I don't think you know to believe in something, that's like faith and to have faith in something it's like you don't even know, yeah, you know, like, to be honest, bro, like I see a lot of fear around and people don't even know it. When covid hit, bro, I seen fear yeah that's all I've seen.
JK47:
57:34 That's all I've seen the mass, everything like that. I felt it too. But there's no courage without fear. There's no being brave without fear. There's no courage without fear. There's no being brave without fear. There is no light without darkness. It's just, it's not like that. You know, there is no like. You know, our experience isn't here, we're not here without our spirit. Our spirit, like, do you even know that you're a spirit?
JK47:
57:59 No, no, they can't even believe yet yeah in anything, you know, like you're struggling to believe in anything because you fear everything that is yet to happen.
Joseph Brown:
58:12 That's it, man, you know you don't have to fear things, man like you know you can still.
Joseph Brown:
58:17 you know when I talk about noah, like noah, noah still had a few beers, you know what? What I mean? It didn't rock him, and that's the thing is that you don't have to fear these things. You can still live your life. If you fear God or you fear, that's the only thing, right, because everything is a byproduct of that anyway. So you don't have to live in fear. But people need that fearless love. They need that love, you know, and that's, I think, what's missing in the world today yeah, I don't think they know what the like this is it like the love man?
JK47:
58:50 like, oh like, I didn't know how to love myself, yeah, before I loved God. Yeah, do you know, man, like, do you not like? I'm sure you can understand what I mean when I say that God teach you how to love yourself in a way that you don't know. You wouldn't know without it, and in that sense, we're made in his image, we're just like him in Christ. There's no lines, there's no male or female, no black or white. It's just one oneness, and that's why the identity has got to, that's why the you know, I'm not saying how it has to be for everybody else.
JK47:
59:31 This is how it has to be for me every day, every morning, when I wake up, and it's just like. It's why you got me on here, bro, to give that perspective, you know, and to share this light, because it is light to shine on darkness. Like you know, like it's like I've been through some dark spots and if you ain't been in them dark spots like you know, like it's just you wouldn't know how it feels. And so I'm grateful for everything. Like you know, I'm grateful, man, this is.
Joseph Brown:
1:00:02 You're right, brother, you're right. There's exactly a reason why you're here. It's obviously. There's always, there's an orchestrator that's orchestrated this moment, which we know. That's right, and and there's there's no accidents.
Joseph Brown:
1:00:13 You know, you're here, you're here for a reason right yeah and I believe that part of that reason is not just one reason. I believe one of those reasons is to show people to be authentic in themselves, no matter what. It is right, like for you that you can be a jk 47, dropping hot bars on triple j, on red bull, on all of these shows that you would never imagine and still be a person of christ. You don't have to compromise yourself and your beliefs for the world. You don't have to be off the world in order to be in the world. Right, and that's the one thing that you've shown continuously that you can be up there at the gold coast music awards again and still be jk 47, but still be a man of christ. And that's, I think that's what people need to hear. They need to hear.
Joseph Brown:
1:01:17 Don't compromise your beliefs and your your what matters to you for fame. Don't compromise these things, man, that's where people go. That's when they say they sold their soul to the devil. Right, that's selling your soul. Is you're going? Oh, I don't care, I'll do anything for fame. And you hear in all these lyrics, right where you hear, like Mac Miller's one of them before he committed suicide, one of his lyrics that he shared in one of his songs, I think it was. I forget the song, but I'll say the lyric. It's even though I had demons that was as big as my house, you know. And that was him saying to the world my demons in my life are as big as my house because I got my house from those demons, you know wish I took a simpler route.
Joseph Brown:
1:02:08 Yeah, that's it, that's as big as my house, right, yeah, that's what he's talking about. And he goes now, what you know? And and what does he say? He says there, he wish he went to god instead of the devil, right? What's the word? What's the lyric there? Um, anyway, man, I just can't think of it.
Joseph Brown:
1:02:25 But people talk about this. You know they want to play it down and water it down, but we're on the real talk here, man, because in every single conversation in the music industry that we live in and every single artist that people love, they speak about this blatantly to your face. They'll, they'll say it in their lyrics. You'll listen to their lyrics and you'll go. He's literally telling you right there, um, there's another artist I forget his name again, man, but but the video clips him. You'd know him. He used to, he used to be. He's the rap about god all the time. And then he had a video clip where there was this angel of him and the devil of him and he was fighting between these two. It's a big artist, bro, like. He's a big, huge, massive, massive artist, right, and at the end of it, the devil him wins, right, and the album after that was all.
Joseph Brown:
1:03:20 That's when he went through the roof right, and why I'm saying this is that this is real, like this talk that you're talking. It's a real part of it, bro. It really affects people, man and and and again. I don't want to give too much power to to that other side there, but at the same time I I want people to acknowledge that that's where we're at right now. We're in this time of a lot happening on a human level, a lot of people selling their souls to get everything they want in life. And then who are you at the end of this? You look in the mirror and you go where's that person? You need to maintain yourself on that journey.
JK47:
1:04:05 Yeah, some people are chosen you know what I mean. Like some people are just sheep. They're waiting there to follow, and that's why people like us got to be ready to lead yeah not everyone's called to lead like you got to know who you are and know where you go like know where you go yeah I know that I don't follow a follower. I am destined to lead. I know because of everything that's been placed on my plate. I know that because of everything that I've gone through.
JK47:
1:04:32 It's been molding me and shaping me to lead. I have everything that I need right now, never mind about money or followers or this or that. I needed something substantial, more substantial to to be who I need to be. Yeah, in the future. I'm 27 by the time I'm 30 I want to be ready yeah and this is why it's not really okay to be falling down for me anymore. I don't want to fall, I want to stay on to it. Why?
JK47:
1:05:01 because, like that's my call, like now, now that I'm on my ball, I don't want to come off it yeah so that's why you don't go back to using drugs again, you know, that's why you don't come off it like, oh yeah, it's okay not to be, okay, not for me, not for me right now. I'm gonna stay on, point, you over there with that. Like you let go this and that until one day you wake up. You know, and that's all good, like it needs to happen, like that's one thing that I've learned there's no stopping.
JK47:
1:05:31 You can't go too far, that you can't turn back, bro, like you know, like, yeah, oh, man, I've been, I've been focusing on a couple of stories, bro, you know, um, you know from the bible there, like, bro, I've, I've made mistakes, man, I've made mistakes, like by trying to be perfect too. You know, that's the thing you can make biggest mistake by trying not to make mistakes. You know, having good intentions. Like you know, road to hell was paved with those with good intentions yeah, bro it's true, man. Yeah, that's right that's right.
JK47:
1:06:08 So you need to be, oh, like you. You need to be onto it. But how much can you be onto it with your own understanding? Has anything changed up here? Have you grown like, or have you just stayed a baby like you know? You stayed immature, just you can see it in people like you know, you don't got to say much, but when they open their mouth I'm like that's a baby that's a baby right there. That's a little child.
JK47:
1:06:31 Like you know, like eventually you're gonna have to grow up and like, because this is it when, if you go to having, if you get to one and you get your own baby, you know like you won't be able to raise that baby Because that baby needs a. You know, like it's why I'm not with my son right now, because when he's older, he needs me to be a man, a man of God, to show him how to be a man of God. You know and I don't have my father right now, so I'm getting all my wisdom off that you know of god, because that is it, I think, the real ones. You know, if you got no, you got no one showing you. If you got no perfect role model, if you got no from out there, look to god and look jesus, because he'll show you how to be out here. He'll show you how to be humble, he'll show you how to be.
JK47:
1:07:23 How do you do that? How do you go? And like you know like, how do you be? Like humble but radical at the same time? How do you go from healing to flipping tables? You just, you know what I mean. Like it's just, it's okay, it happens. You know what I mean, like you know. Like it's just, it's the maddest story, bro, like you know, madder than anyone that I've known, because it keeps getting bigger and bigger and broader and broader. Like because it's it's relating to my life, you know that's where people need to see it, bro.
Joseph Brown:
1:07:54 They need to see that. That's the evidence.
JK47:
1:07:56 I know that go see how it relates to your life, like go see it because it'll, it'll, it'll coincide and coexist. Yeah, like realer than anything, like it'll, like there's truth in it, just like there's truth in every other fairy tale and and this and that story out there. The difference is is like they all trace back to the living truth. They all trace back to the living waters, the living, the promises, the rock. Yeah, you know it's, but.
Joseph Brown:
1:08:22 But on that note, brother um on that note it's funny because the the big, you know it's the big topic at the moment, right like music's the big topic. But then the other big topic is there's all these different belief systems are starting to bubble up and all that sort of stuff's going on. But when you see, you know, you talk about all these different stories and this, you know fairy tales, but I have seen firsthand what God has done to people around me. There's, you can't deny it. And when you go like, oh, like my, my brothers, brother two, two brothers, right one, one many years in jail and he's still in, in and out of jail and um, you know, here and there, and I've got another brother who's been through some of the most heaviest trials and it brings tears to my eyes every time because of what they've been through, bro, and it's you know, my brother gives me a call up and he's I found Jesus, I found God and all of those. You know, I've known my brother his whole life, right, like he's my brother. All of those reoccurring curses that kept coming up in his life, they stopped and now he's living the most beautiful life and he's, he's grounded and he doesn't lie anymore, because this is one thing he's to say he goes. I used to lie all the time and but he doesn't anymore. He doesn't lie, he doesn't get angry. He used to have big anger problems and that's gone.
Joseph Brown:
1:10:03 And when I see these stories, and even like yourself, bro, that's the evidence. That's where, where god uses testimony as evidence, where it's like how could he's? He's been atheist. That didn't work. He's been this. That didn't work. Went down the muslim. You know that didn't work. Him, you know works for all sorts of people. But then comes, this was what come, and all of that fell off. And now he's calling me up. He wants to come over and do some music and he's way more grounded. He can do music in a better way now because he's no longer got those other things right. So, bro, I love that man. I love that you get to be a testimony and get to be used by god, to be showing people in the world like, look at this man here, first nations brother. Anyone would say, like you mentioned before, anyone would say that, oh, how could this match? But yet it does yeah, man, you know what I mean.
Joseph Brown:
1:10:59 Yet it does like. That's the thing about. It is for real, bro, and how good that you get to be used by God in such a beautiful way, man, that you get to be utilized so much people like you know. I know, man, I know you know I'm a cousin to your people, bro. I'm not your people and I will never speak for your people, but I know what your people has been through, bro.
Joseph Brown:
1:11:25 And that you get to stand here as a leader on on more than tradition, on on god's purpose, bro, that you get to say this with so much conviction for the last hour, that you get to say that to all of these kids out there in the world that's going to listen to this, bro, they're going to go wow. And you get to say that to all of these kids out there in the world that's going to listen to this, bro, they're going to go wow. And you get to lead these people back, bro. What a powerful, powerful responsibility you've got, bro, and you couldn't get much. That's where you've got to be humble and just realize, man, better to be the doorman of God's kingdom than not to be there at all. And you get to guide people into that place, bro, like and that's real powerful stuff, bro, real talk, that's powerful stuff, bro. You've got a big mission ahead of you, bro, and I always feel that. But you've got this as well, bro, like, we've spoken.
JK47:
1:12:21 You're so strong, bro, in yourself man I was, I was my weakest this year, yeah, but look at like, yeah, I look good, I look thing now.
Joseph Brown:
1:12:35 But that's the holy spirit, bro, that's the, that's god did the cuff, like you said that's god coming out.
JK47:
1:12:40 They're like you know, like, and you know so I'll just give all the praise to god man, you know like. Praise, god, bro, you know, because it just it's good that we can encourage each other, because that's what I needed this year. I needed encouragement from, like you know, like relationships. God blessed us with the relationships and he didn't. It's not intended. We're not meant to be alone, but I had to spend a lot of time alone this year too, and that was one of the things I had to work out for myself. Like God, like you know, why don't I have these things? I need people around me. Like, why don't? This is what I need. You know I'm not. This is why everything's not going good. I need people. Something's wrong with this person, you know. Like. This person is not really, you know not, you're not a person of god. He's not a person of god. I'm not this and that, but it doesn't matter. You know what I mean.
Dialogue:
1:13:35 Like well, you gotta go and sports like you know what I mean.
JK47:
1:13:37 Like here's the thing you know, it's just what happened to me this year. Okay, this is what I was doing, this is what I was going through. I thought I needed the people around me, but until I went and found god for myself again again, you know because, it's just on my, you know, on the ground again, like you know nothing again, because this is it.
JK47:
1:14:01 Only when you're empty can you just like, be ready for what, god, okay, you're ready now You're done trying to figure it all out for yourself. You're done trying to do it. All your cup's all empty now, yeah, I got no money, I got nothing, like you know God, and then it's just all right, bang. You know what I mean, but it's not bang right there, it's just okay. Well, now you're going through things to ready you for when it gets good again, because it goes like this, you know what I mean. It's the molding, it's all molding you to come together.
JK47:
1:14:36 And I went without people. I couldn't look to the people, to be honest, man, I seen God moving in people. I couldn't look to the people, like, to be honest man, I seen God moving in people. I couldn't watch them, you know, like I could, but they weren't inspiring me and encouraging me the way that it should, because I needed to get with God, first me myself, like. And then when I got with you know, when I got with him and I seen, like you know, like he got me right, I got content again. I was content with Jesus. You know I was content with what he's given me today, which is Jesus. Like you know, from the day I got saved, I accepted Jesus and I have him today still.
JK47:
1:15:14 You know, getting back in that content again and then I could realize what he's got around for me to be inspired and uplifted. Then he sends people then then, but until you've gone in a way for yourself and really spent that time with him to get to know him, haven't seen you for a bit pull in, have a yarn to, because I'm at a different place now. You know like it's at, it's not like it used to be, it's renew, renew again. You know because we're in a different place now. You know like it's at, it's not like it used to be, it's renew, renew again. You know, because we're in a different day today. Today is not the same as yesterday would we?
Joseph Brown:
1:15:51 would we be on this, this level a year ago? It?
JK47:
1:15:56 wasn't.
Joseph Brown:
1:15:56 You can't go like that where today, where I know I know I don't want to be like exactly, yeah, yeah yeah, you, yeah, you can if you want, but you're just going to confuse yourself. Yeah.
JK47:
1:16:05 For real, For what? Like you know, you need to be aware. And onto what's happening right now. Yeah. Even as we talk in this conversation. Brothers, I'm not trying to get caught up on things that will just go, but yeah, what was I talking about? It's just flowing.
JK47:
1:16:24 Like it's just flowing, like it's it's it's moving forward. Yeah, you know it's, it's it's straight, like you know, like just momentum. You know it's motion, like forward forward. No, looking back, because what's there is there, like you know, like I'll put it this way, I'm moving forward because by the time I'm I'm 30, my son's got to be, you know, seven, you know, and by the time he's seven, I can't still be 27, you know yeah like you know I gotta be 30.
JK47:
1:16:55 Yeah, like I gotta be back. You know I can't stay here in this place. Yeah, like in my feelings, this and that. Oh, she did this, she did that, you know he did whatever. Whatever you know Black, white things like that. I have to grow because my ex is non-Indigenous, so it's not even like about black and white anymore. Like God's given me this whole thing to like break down because there is no division in christ. Christ breaks down all the walls. You wonder why we got so much division. Where's jesus? Because jesus will bring us all together, like you know yeah, because there's been that other side bro.
Joseph Brown:
1:17:35 That's the thing people don't understand is that you, you need to stand on truth and when you talk about this religious spirit before yeah that's the antichrist has been, which you know.
Joseph Brown:
1:17:46 The antichrist, right, they talk about the antichrist is the, the, the image of christ, but is the counterfeit, right, the counterfeit? So when people have that religious spirit, that's, that's the spirit. What? What discredits jesus? Right, that's where people got led astray. Right, and that's what needs to happen is people need to understand that Jesus was never, the church was never, the rules was never, the law was never these things.
Joseph Brown:
1:18:13 Right, when you look at who Jesus, when you speak about Jesus, when you look at who he sat with, he sat with Gentiles and with everyone. Right, he sat with all different people. And that's the one thing I think a lot of people need to understand about. When you talk about this journey, bro, on the journey that we've been on and you've been on, is you've got to sit with all different people. It has to be on your table Everyone. You can't just sit with just Christians. It's just not where it's at right now, because you know, jesus never just spent his time with christians or with people. He spends time with everyone and that's why I think people need to to realize that and come back to that. They need to come back to that. You need to you. We need to live coexisting in this world and using a lot of patience and a lot of forgiveness and a lot of understanding and a lot of you know humbleness and humility and bro, can I just go and get my bible real quick?
Joseph Brown:
1:19:13 yeah, yeah yeah, yeah, how you going over there Dan.
JK47:
1:19:34 Yeah, do it. Yeah, this is it man.
Joseph Brown:
1:19:44 We got the house of MJ in the house. It's rocked up. Come on, shoot a shoot over there, dan. Yeah, we're going to get you, we're going to get you. This is the house of MJ. Mj in the house. Yeah, yeah, where are you there? You are Hello, hello. Yeah, where are y'all there?
JK47:
1:20:07 you are hello no man but um yeah, matthew 25, bro, like the final judgment. You know, like he it said. It says because he's going on. He's going on the final judgment. He said come, you who are blessed by my Father, and inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you fed me. I was thirsty and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger and you invited me into your home. I was naked and you gave me clothing. I was sick and you cared for me. I was in prison and you visited me. Then these righteous ones will reply Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink, or a stranger and show you hospitality, or naked, or give you clothing? When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you? And the king will say I tell you the truth. When you did it to one of the least of these, my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me, you know.
Joseph Brown:
1:21:30 Yeah, like that's it, right there. Right, you know what I mean? That's it.
JK47:
1:21:33 That's why you can't At least, though, to the least of of of views, and that's the people in the world that think the least. People that don't look that good, people that are homeless, people that they don't look appealing, yeah, people that wouldn't, that you wouldn't help those people. First nations, people, this, these people, that people, whoever you're talking about, that the world's just like, oh, even some of the church. The church, oh I used to work out the church no shoes all the time and I get those looks you know, what I mean, yeah, but if you're gonna, you you love those people.
JK47:
1:22:05 Yeah, if you're doing it like you're surely doing it to me, you're doing it for me really.
Joseph Brown:
1:22:11 And if you don't know, like that's how it goes with like real godly people, man, and I thank God for godly people- for the people that just do it because they see themselves in you Like we're all the same, we're all spirit, and you have to learn to see themselves in you, like we're all the same, we're all spirit, and you have to learn to see yourself in another person.
JK47:
1:22:31 If you don't see yourself in that other person, that's just like you don't even care. Yeah, you don't care at all. That's compassion, that's what I say Like no, but it is compassion, but it's so understandable Like we just see ourselves out here, like we're walking around with these mirrors, fine, you know what? I mean looking at us, you know looking at ourselves.
JK47:
1:22:50 Like you know, even when you're going through problems, all you can see is yourself yeah can't you see what god's doing through the open your eyes, like you know like, and to open your eyes is just to be in a state of praise and thanks. And you want to talk about music. Man, like you know, what was the devil in charge of? You know, in heaven, praise and worship. Yeah, of course this is it. This is what music is praise and worship, like you know, like we all worship in, like something yeah and everything needs to give their their praise to.
JK47:
1:23:25 Whether you realize it or not, everything and everyone is giving their praise and giving their worship to something and it all deserves to go to God. It all deserves to go to the Creator, the one who put everything here, who sent his son to die, who did everything. Everything's got to pay homage and give thanks back to God, to the one. Otherwise it's not right. We want to talk about protocol. That's the main protocol. That's the main one, that's the main rule you should follow. And you talk about the. You know, like if Jesus' name isn't being mentioned, then you don't know God, because God sent his son. You know, like that was the one Don't separate the two because that was God in human form, you know, was holy, like wasn't going to break.
JK47:
1:24:08 We break all the time, but we're supposed to look at jesus and be like him, because that's who god sees. We're saved like we. That's who god sees when he looks at us, saved and sanctified, like he sees us, like that. But do you see yourself as that? You know, have you welcomed? Welcomed Jesus into your heart, because he wants to come into your heart to live, to make his home there, to heal you to. You know He'll do it. He's done it. All you've got to do is be ready to receive what's there, like how many people don't receive something because they don't think they deserve it? Or don't think they're worth it.
JK47:
1:24:43 So much people. Yeah, and that's the thing like you don't like. But this is what grace is. It's unmerited favor, yeah, yeah, yeah, like it's like you didn't do anything to merit that. Here it is. It's the ultimate gift, like it is a gift.
JK47:
1:24:59 Grace is a gift, you know, like it's the ultimate gift and a gift many, many people can't fathom. You know, can you fathom the grace? Because if you can like, you know like, if you can like understand it enough that you know you need it. You need grace. Like you know, like you need to forgive yourself and you need to forgive others. You know. But before you can forgive others, you need to be able to forgive yourself, and you can't forgive yourself if you don't know how to love yourself and you don't know how to love yourself because you don't know how to love.
JK47:
1:25:39 You know this is the person that puts you here, like you're going to go back to the source and you're going to realize. You know, like, no, you know you can go back to dad. Dad, I can't understand. You know, I don't know what's going on. You know, and he's going to fix you up. You know you're going to make sure you're right, like, he'll hear you, he'll listen to your cries. You can cry to him. You know Can't cry to many, many people out here, you know.
JK47:
1:26:12 You know like you can't lean on many people, and that's fine, like you know. That's why, like people can lean on me, like that's what I'm out here to do, yeah, and you brother, they can lean on us. Who we're gonna lean on? Yeah?
JK47:
1:26:16 god, you know, I mean, this is it like and so to like to all the people out there that are chosen, to all the people that are there that got people depending on them, maybe that you're your big big brother or sister, you're leading this and that whatever you're doing, you might need God. You do need God in your life. You do because that's the life force, that's the wind in your back, that's how you can just be in it. It's letting the inner flow out, you know, onto your outer life, rather than letting the problems and the circumstances and the state of you affect your stance.
Joseph Brown:
1:26:57 You know, and what better way to navigate this industry than to have that solid foundation on such beautiful things? Man, because you know man, like we know man we've spoken about it a few times. Right, there's temptation, there's desires. Someone's going to wave a carrot in front of you and go I'm going to give you all your dreams. I'm going to do all this. If you don't have any foundation, man, that's how you lose your life and that's how you wake up in the mansion looking in the mirror and going who the hell am I? And it's like you, who you were left five years ago when you chased everything without god, without a foundation. That really matters, man, like it's, like you know, it's what. What better way? Man like I, that's what it's about. Like, this is about everyone.
Joseph Brown:
1:27:44 This, this, this podcast, is going to reach so much different people and I know there's more. There's probably a lot of more. More than likely have. A lot of christians out there, or a lot of spiritual people, or a lot of godly people out there who don't know how to stand firm on their godly faith because of the way the world is and the way the world pushes you down. It's scary out there to stand up and say, oh, you know, you believe in god, it's scary out there for them. So this is going to reach those people, man, and if you're in the industry and you want to be more stronger and you want to bring that faith back into the industry, you want to bring that safety and security back, that safe place for people, it doesn't have to be out there full of these dark energies that you see where they're taking so much energy.
Joseph Brown:
1:28:29 You know, you see fighting, you see anger, you see that resentment. That that's what, man, I busked in surface for many years and the amount of fights I've seen the amount of that. That's what I play in surface every couple weeks. Man, I'll be there at Surfer's Beer Garden this week, right, and you can see the energy. It's like that's what's around, bro, in the chronic amount. There's a lot of people holding on to so much pain and resentment. Until you understand and live through that forgiveness, then you know there's a lot that has to be done, bro. There's a lot that has to be done, bro. There's a lot that has to be done, and people like yourself are stepping into that position, um, more than ever, bro yeah, man, it's finished, it's like it's done, like I said it to you.
JK47:
1:29:21 You know they're um. You know people don't understand what that means, but like you know, like you know people don't understand what that means, but like you know, like, these are the promises, bro, this is the rock, this is the never changing Like, and it's basic instructions before leaving earth. But it gets so deep. It gets so deep, you know, like, and yeah, like, where sin abounds, grace abounds. Much more Like, more like, just simple is that it's a promise, like it's in the word, you know, like it's a promise. It's just how the universe works, man. Nothing can really take you further than you know. Like, everything that you go through, even your mistakes, even things you've done wrong, they just push you further to your purpose. Like, nothing you do can take that stuff away from you Only if you rob yourself.
JK47:
1:30:16 No because you don't think you deserve grace, which is undeserved favor. Yeah, it's pretty simple. It's pretty basic instructions, like it's pretty basic, but people like want to be who they want to be, not who they're made to be. We're made to go through things and we just numb that. We seek to numb it, we seek to look past it, we seek to justify ourselves, we seek intellect, you know, to explain ourselves.
JK47:
1:30:49 you know, I'm done, man, I'm tired of trying to like. As simple as this. I'm just saved by grace, like, and I just want to give the glory and the praise back to god, like, who deserves it, and that's why he's gonna give me more like and more and more and more like. It's all, it's just, it's how it happens. It's the abundance, like you know like, but you know I'm gonna, I'm gonna speak the truth. You know gambling, you know playing pokies. Like you know, um, just those, um, those things there. Like. I did that, man, and I put myself in a median place of lack when I had money to spend. You know, just putting myself in lack because I think I didn't have much you know, I think I didn't have that much.
JK47:
1:31:40 I needed more, but I had, like God bless me with you know what I have right now, like I didn't, but immediately. Like God bless me with you. Know what I have right now, like I didn't, but immediately. Oh, I've got to get more. Trying to think of future, you're trying to think whatever, whatever Parents, you know whatever Boy, like all the fellas, and that they're on the pokies See how I go, you know Might win up big this and that, but like that's how that, you know, reels you in and that, and it was just like just being in a place of lack, you know, instead of resting in the abundance that's already there. I'm not talking about money, I'm not talking about cars, I'm not talking about material things. I'm talking about the abundance who's got nothing left, like who wants to be just filled to the brim and then overflowed. Like everything.
Joseph Brown:
1:32:27 You have everything you need, everything you need.
JK47:
1:32:28 I can come. I can come Whatever, wherever. I got everything that I need. I got these songs on command. I got whatever, it'll just flow out. Yeah, like I can go do workshops, whatever, whatever. This is the and how I get paid, I'll get looked after. I'll get looked after. I'll get looked after. That's how it works. You know Right at the right time payment hits the bank. You know Always, always, right, like, always, like, here you go payment from this and there, if you're creative, that's you know, that's how it works.
JK47:
1:33:11 The payment hits the bank right at the right time, Like you know, shout out APRA.
Dialogue:
1:33:12 You know, whatever you know, shout out apra you know, whatever you know, yeah, that's right, like it's the bank, that's right.
JK47:
1:33:13 Apra 's helped me out, that's right. It just hits the bank. Blessings you. You're doing god's work out there, that's right. You know what I mean like, and it's resting in that like abundance, and that abundance is like a, it's a finished thing, you know. It's not like the sand that's changing. It's not like the stock market. It's not like you know your bank account. It's, it's the promises, you know. It's this right here. It's basic instructions to before leave. Enough. Like. It's pretty basic there and it's like just add it up for yourself, because I went and did this and this is how I got to where I am. You know, and this is why I'm on the podcast, jacob, was that how you get to work, how to happen? You know, and this is why I'm on the podcast, jacob always say how you get to where, how to happen. You know what's motivating you, what's this and that, and I'll tell you right, it's this year. You know, it's the Bible, it's God's word, that's what keeps me. You know, when I'm weak, he's strong and I've been so weak, you know. I week. You know I've been my weakest, you know, but that's my strongest because that's like when you got nothing left out of your own accord. I'm not trying to bring any to the table from myself anymore.
JK47:
1:34:12 I'm trying to let it flow from the, from the supply from the source that's just ever giving you know, ever given, like I don't have to worry about what's what's happening, I don't even have to worry about being in a space that's not for me. I won't be there. No, I won't happen. No, god won't let it happen. He, what you know like, he'll protect me unless I dash my foot against a stone, like you know I want. You won't even let me kick my toe, yeah let me do it like.
JK47:
1:34:42 That's it like, but you have to first thing when you get up in the morning. It's not like a religious thing, because if you do it, but you have to first thing when you get up in the morning, it's not like a religious thing because if you do it first thing, you never was out of it. Do it first thing, so you're never out of it, you're always in it, and that's just connection. I want to talk about the connection. That's the ultimate connection, like you're connected to everything and everyone through the one you know.
Joseph Brown:
1:35:04 Yeah, man, and you need to be connected. You do, you need to be connected. I've always said this you know, like the Bible without God is like a phone without internet. That's, the connection is what brings it alive. If you just read it like a book, if you don't read it with praying and with asking God like, show me the word, then it's just going to be a bunch of words. That, because you know, like what um jesus said in matthew, right, when he said like only my sheep will hear me, they will know when I talk, and if they don't hear me, then they're not mine, right? Yeah?
JK47:
1:35:39 faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of god. Yeah, you know, like this is, there's power in the words, like brothers, I brothers, I wouldn't know. So this is a story time all right, yeah, story time.
JK47:
1:35:48 I grew up in a Christian household. My mum made me worship. I didn't grow up perfect, you know, christian boy Like I was a boy just like the rest of the boys. I just wanted to go play and this and that, but my mum didn't. She made sure that we were singing. She made sure that we were singing. She made sure that we were reading. She made sure that we weren't watching things that, like affected us, you know, because we were getting shaped, we were getting molded. Little did I know. I just wanted to watch the Simpsons. I just wanted to watch. Mum Wouldn't Let Me. You know what I mean, and that's. I'm so grateful to her for doing that, because faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. I didn't know what I was saying. I was just saying it because my mom told me to do it. And this is it, like. This is why you know teaching like God and talking about God and like you know, I don't know who's ready to hear this, but if you're ready, here, it is.
JK47:
1:36:41 You know what I mean Like whoever's not ready, whoever want to turn it off, whoever want to stop watching, stop listening. That's your thing, you know. Like Jesus said, like some seeds will be sown on hard ground. Got hard heart for you know God, got hard heart for Jesus. We won't penetrate Some seeds. Their ground is soft, it's been tended to, it's been broken, it's been through things. It's all like turned over and it's fertile for the seed to come. And then you've got another ground where it's ready. It's for the seed to come, but it's got vines.
JK47:
1:37:17 It's got vines and thorns ready to strangle that word out. You know Such truth. You know, what I mean, like there's such truth there and those vines and thorns to me is they've got anger resentment.
Joseph Brown:
1:37:31 That's vines.
JK47:
1:37:32 That's thorns. They can be people too. They'll strangle it out of you. Yeah, people, yeah, so much things. They'll just be like. You know the word of God, you know like this and that da-da-da.
Joseph Brown:
1:37:42 Like you know, when you look at the parable like if you're planting a seed, you know you've got to dig the hole and then put the seed in. You wouldn't just flick a seed on the surface.
JK47:
1:37:54 No, that's the well. That's what it is. You're flicking a seed on the surface, like sometimes it's hard ground.
Joseph Brown:
1:37:59 The seed just sits on top of the soil. It didn't go in. How do the seeds go in? It's?
JK47:
1:38:03 more like a hole, but like it's turned over. It's been through something.
Joseph Brown:
1:38:13 It's been flipped on its frigging head. You know, life does that, man. I'll tell you what You're like, whoa, and life does that. And now it's soft, and then it's like, and then you're like God.
JK47:
1:38:22 And then it's like boop.
JK47:
1:38:23 You know what I mean. Yeah, it's like that. You know what I mean. It's legit man. Yeah, yeah, yeah, and I don't know. We're living in a time where these videos and the music that we hear and see, and content on TikTok it's everywhere. So you don't know, just keep that, just keep speaking the word of God, just keep prophesying and confessing it over your life and over like to people, and people will hear it and it'll like. You know that's how I see the music too. But I was like you know, I don't really want to be around, like or not be around. I don't really want to be performing my music to people that don't know what I'm saying, what I'm doing out here and aren't going to take like.
JK47:
1:39:11 I'll put it this way if they're going to come up to me and go yo, you're amazing, this and that. And then I go, thank god, and they go, no, but you, I don't want to hear you anymore. I don't want to hear you what you know.
Joseph Brown:
1:39:21 You're missing the point yeah you missed it, but you know, it's also what needs to be done, bro.
JK47:
1:39:26 Yeah like, yeah, like, and this, this is it, bro.
Joseph Brown:
1:39:28 Like I'm much rather doctor doesn't go to healthy people. The doctor goes to people with broken arms. Oh no, yeah, for sure, like but you know, like it's this is.
JK47:
1:39:36 This is something that I'm realizing about things. People must be so quick to to tell me that they know what I'm doing. Oh, it's so great what you're doing this and that, this and that and I go, like you know, do you really know what I stand for out here and what I do? That I'm you know, Like you know you listen to all my music, bro. You know you got a picture of, like, oh, this is what I stand for, God, Wow, going through this.
Joseph Brown:
1:40:02 I was there, man. I was there in the. Again back to the awards night. You know, yeah, You're unshaken in that spirit. You were there firm, that's right. There was no, there was none of that. There was like a hey, everyone Like you knew what you were there for and you know what you're here for. So, yeah, for sure, yeah, yeah, Nah yeah, that, nah, yeah, that's right.
JK47:
1:40:24 Man Praise God.
Joseph Brown:
1:40:26 You know, and it's as much as I just feel like I've got to say this to you, bro as much as, of course, all the glory has got to go to God, it also takes a good servant to. You've got to be recognised as well that it's not the glory that goes to you, it's that you've got to be obedient in your mission yeah, yeah.
Joseph Brown:
1:40:46 So at the same time, you know, like you've got to, you have to give yourself some sort of props to keep going. You know, because that's important as well, man. It's self-love and self-care. Not overly indulging in self-love, because then you become a narcissist, but the right amount and self-care, like you know, that needs to be a part of it as well, bro, but that's just it follows.
JK47:
1:41:12 It definitely follows, Like you know, like you're exactly right, man, because I listened to a word, bro, and it was about obeying, you know, but I couldn't be listening to a word about obedience when I was in a state of disobedience. It's not what I want to hear when I'm in that state. So it's a process.
Joseph Brown:
1:41:37 It's a full process, man, as dads, bro, we're both dads here, right? I got kids right.
JK47:
1:41:43 Yeah.
Joseph Brown:
1:41:44 And I tell you what, bro, I've got kids, right. Yeah. And I tell you what, bro, my kid, you know, the other day he picks up this apple and it's rotten and it's on the ground. And I say, put that apple in the bin. And he's like no, that's the state of disobedience, right, but as a dad I know that apple's rotten is going to make him sick. And then he still fights and argues with me, disobedient, disobedient. But little does he know. I'm like I'll get you the most perfect apple straight, fresh, if you just throw that rotten one in the bin.
Joseph Brown:
1:42:19 And sometimes it's that act when you're a kid. You know when you're, when you're a kid, and that's what we are, right, we're all kids, children of god, right, sometimes you're holding on to this dirty, rotten apple and that apple might be a old manager or might be an old project or whatever it is, and you're like, no, but I, but I want that because I just let it go. Let it go, give it to me, we'll put it over here and I'll give you the apple that you need. Right, and that's what obedience is. The reward of obedience is, if you'd listen, that god knows something that you don't know, because at the end of the day, right, we just have our own human perspective.
JK47:
1:42:56 But if you listen and you do those things and you obey, and that's where you need to be given the pat on the back to be like you obeyed even though I didn't even do it on my own accord, though, cause that's what I was trying to say, man, I was in a state of disobedience, and then grace intervened. I can't explain to you how things work, man. It wasn't really like. I can feel it yeah, bro.
JK47:
1:43:17 That's why I got to say praise God, like my mom says all the time. She says thank you, lord, and people get tired you you know, people get tired, they, they say what you're saying to me. You, you, you. Oh man like I'm he deserves praise.
Joseph Brown:
1:43:32 Bra, like you know.
JK47:
1:43:32 For real, it was like I'm at that like, yeah, like I'm at a place where, like you know, um can't tell you how many times I said thank you when people just gave me compliments and I'm this is what I was trying to say to you before. Man, I'm tired of that. Yeah, I want people to realize what I'm doing out here, like I want to come together in a grant. It's beyond that. I want to come together. People come to my shows. They know what I'm there for, they know what I stand for. They're ready. They're ready to hear it and that's what it's like at my shows. They're ready to be uplift and comforted and and grow and like tell you the truth, some people might not be ready, so they hear it and they go like I'm not listening to this because this is bringing up too much stuff I'm not.
JK47:
1:44:13 No, it's that whole and they're not ready for it so, so god tuned like, not god tunes him out, but they tune out because they weren't ready to hear it, so they didn't hear it. Oh, you hear that song that I put? No, no, I didn't hear it. You know, I missed, and it's like, weren't ready to hear it, weren't ready to thing it. But those that are ready, I'm trying to be ready for them. You know, like, and that's it. All I'm doing is making sure that I'm ready.
JK47:
1:44:37 You know, I'm making sure that I'm where you want me at On this podcast with. Brother. Boy, I'm ready.
Joseph Brown:
1:44:43 You know what I mean.
JK47:
1:44:47 You know, boy, all right, I'm ready, you know, I mean, um, you know like, and you are not like. Oh yeah, I'm caught up with my own thing, this and that. Because even if I was, what would you say? Oh yeah, that's all good, bro, you know, we all go through something. Can't do it, yeah, can't do it, not for me, not today.
Joseph Brown:
1:44:59 You know like I felt that too, bro. We, we linked up what we first linked up at the awards I I hooked up with your um, got deets from your last manager. Message him a few times. I'm like you know, I know when it's time. Well, if it doesn't come through there, it'll come through another way. That's right.
JK47:
1:45:19 And then bumped into a burley I was praying that morning as well. Yeah, you know what I?
Joseph Brown:
1:45:24 mean, like you know, me and my wife were like not arguing but like debating about oh, should we go and get a juice, should we go to the you know whatever? And we ended up there and my wife said I'll just get a juice and I said I'm going to get an acai bowl. You know, and that little decision, that acai bowl, was what led us to linking up. Right, because if I'd just got the juice it would have been boom and I would have been in the car and gone. But they said, oh, we're going to be another five minutes on the acai bowl. And in that time I'm like, there you are, and that was our moment. That was our moment to link up. It was God's plan, god's time. That was was okay.
Joseph Brown:
1:46:07 This is the time now that's right, and I just remember, man, the way that you were like well, when do you want to do it? Yeah, give me the calendar. And I'm like still next week, you know. And it was like and here we are, bro, and and, and that shows you. Like that's when people need to hear show me evidence of god. It's like God's evidence is here, it's in time, it's not what you think evidence needs to be.
Joseph Brown:
1:46:34 It's in real life experiences, man, where things like this happen. They don't just coincidence, you know. Coincidence is just the bullshit. You know it's not like that. There's perfect timing and divine timing, then divine timing. That's right Divinity, you know, and I'm so thankful that we got to come to this moment, bro, and I feel what you're saying.
Joseph Brown:
1:46:55 Yeah, I do feel what you're saying before, in the state of disobedience, like that's grace, god's grace happens Sometimes. That disobedience is what he will use for you to get what you need. And like you said when you were saying some people are not ready to hear or they switch off, that's where God's churning the soil and maybe it's going to bring up something. It's going to bring up something that's from the history and you might say something that boom, that's for them. That's him churning the soil. Keep on churning the soil. Keep on churning the soil, and and and, bro, that's obviously and quite clearly what you are as an instrument for god is to churn that soil for a bit for some people, man, you know. And that hard soil, man, if you've ever been in the garden, have you done much gardening?
JK47:
1:47:43 mom, no, no, not lately, but I know like, you know my nan like yeah loves gardening and I can't wait to get a garden, a house, like just a place of my own, just where I can just be, like you know, I think.
Joseph Brown:
1:47:55 I think I'm like doing gardening up here bro, yeah, I mean for for sure, pulling weeds yeah, you know tending to my garden yeah, you know that's what I'm doing, and and but if you've ever, if you've ever gardened on hard soil, you sometimes got to get. You know you're a lot of work, yeah, and you got to break it and and you got to just keep on grinding on that soil. And that's sometimes what god does, bro, is he'll? He'll sometimes got to break you to a thousand pieces and then put water on you and then churn you and then you go to become healthy soil. God can do anything, man. He can turn the hardest soil into healthy soil. It might take a bit more time, depending on how hard the soil is, but it can be done. And you get to play instruments to that, bro, and you get to be utilized through music and through these words that you've got yeah through hip-hop, through through poetry, you get to do these beautiful things, man yeah, can't do it with a hard heart either
JK47:
1:48:59 you know what I mean like it's just, I mean, you can, but you feel that hard heart yeah, and I, I don't know, I don't know about anybody else, but like I don't want my heart to harden because of what I listen to or what I read, or what I, you know, do, that I want, you know, I want God's word to penetrate, to be able to pierce through, because I want to pierce through, you know, like I don't want a hard heart, it has to be like I'm always asking God to soften hearts, soften the heart of this person, that person, my heart towards you, lord God. First, I say towards you, lord God and towards me.
JK47:
1:49:42 Because I just want them to first, first of all, I just want their heart to be softened for you, God, so you can enter their heart because that's what?
Joseph Brown:
1:49:51 Yeah, so if they soften towards God, they're going to soften towards you anyway. Yeah, yeah, that's going to happen anyway.
JK47:
1:49:56 Yeah, and that's, but, like you know, this is for the people in my life. You know what I mean, like praying for those like just around me, because you know the family and that and friend and all that. You know it's not perfect, like yeah, you know, and so you gotta, like you know, pray for them like all the time, like because that's like kind of like the only thing you can do sometimes yeah because you can't really help. Like you know, you think you can yeah and I thought it was like it's us.
JK47:
1:50:25 It's us, we help each other. But like you're right, man, we are only human, because at one point we can't be that perfect love that God is. We can't be that Because sooner or later I'm going to be like sorry, bro, not tonight, not today, it's just and then you're going to have to understand.
JK47:
1:50:43 Oh yeah, it's all right bro like you know, like, and that's just like it's gonna happen, because, like my mom's done all the time, let people in, they're chilling, and then she has to like you're like, all right, god, I've, you know, letting people in, looking after these people, and now I've got to be human and be like come on, now I, I've got to look after my kids.
Joseph Brown:
1:51:07 Like leave you know. That's why you should never like seek perfection.
JK47:
1:51:10 Exactly, it works like that you know.
Joseph Brown:
1:51:13 You can actually do a lot of damage, bro, because a lot of people who are trying to be perfect in this world. We're not able to be perfect, bro. It's not possible.
JK47:
1:51:23 That's why Jesus came bro. That's why Jesus came bro.
Joseph Brown:
1:51:25 That's why Jesus came, because it was on that old law that was seeking perfection. Then they realized, oh, we can't, we could never reach that and it was never possible. And that's exactly why they didn't realize it. God knew. Yeah, of course God knew.
JK47:
1:51:37 And he knew it from the start, like he know all, all, all, like you know you couldn't even fathom, he not this god don't look like us. We look like god, like you know. It's like yeah, you're not this old white man like you know, you're not this old frail. No, like you know, like we look like him, but he not, he's ferocious.
JK47:
1:51:59 He like, like you know, like he's telling joe, you've been there when I did this like yeah but he got this like love, you know yeah he got this like ultimate purpose there, like, yeah, you know, for you, like he believe in you, like like no one else, like a father should, yeah, you know, and father, not all fathers do, and so if you ever had a father or had no father, like you know, that just wasn't, you know, ever stuck there, like that. But it's what you need. This is why mother earth and father god, they're so important. She, so she, she nurtures the seed.
JK47:
1:52:36 He is the seed, yeah, which come first, a chicken or that, but it's a seed, you know. Yeah, the seed came, yeah, it's just like, you know, like it's the, the rooster, yeah, yeah, but like it's the, it's a seed that comes first into the ground, you know, and what was in that seed, the whole, you know, like it's, oh, bro, like the way that everything works here. I am talking about it. But if you don't know what I'm talking about, it's just like but I know what I'm talking about, I know and you know too, bro, you, but I know what I'm talking about. I know and you know too, bro, you know, you know, you sit there in agreeance, and this is it, where two or three agree concerning anything touching this earth and us and my father. It shall be done for them. You know what I mean.
Joseph Brown:
1:53:19 But that's the thing is people who might not know.
JK47:
1:53:20 Now they will know and they'll come back and they'll go and we show it through the. It comes out of my like. You see it on my face. I'm not faking this. Like you see it it's. It's coming out like this. That's your error, that's the. I mean, that's your aura, that's your energy. You could tell I'm staying away from that brother. You know what I mean because his energy is off. It's coming out of him. He didn't have to say nothing to me. I can see it and like a gut feeling too, bro, like oh okay, I'm not supposed to be here, I'm gone. You know I'll leave and you just leave and something happens, you know, that night. But you weren't, you were listening to your gut. You know you were listening to your, not even your gut. It's your spirit. Spirit, bro, is your spirit. You want to call it your gut, but it's like spirit proper.
Joseph Brown:
1:54:02 You know it is, bro yeah, so um, and that's that we spoke about it just yesterday, about this higher, this intuition they call it.
JK47:
1:54:11 But yeah, it's your spirit, man this is the furthest god's brought me, bro, like I thought I knew it all. Last year, you know, and the year before, and the year before, see, I had I was. This is what I was gonna say, bro, when you're talking about the moldy apple yeah bros, what does this say in the lord's prayer?
JK47:
1:54:29 give us this day our daily bread. Why? Because I need today's bread. Yeah, yesterday's bread, stale. Yesterday's bread, that's old. Yeah, I can't eat that bread. It's gonna go moldy, it's gonna go oh, it's from yesterday. I need new, fresh, to nourish and replenish Like nutrients. Fresh, you know life, not dead. You know not old, not thing. I need new, fresh stuff and that's every day refreshing, renewing your mind. Every day.
Joseph Brown:
1:55:01 Finish it off from there. Give us a day, our daily bread.
JK47:
1:55:04 Yeah, forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. See, this is the Lord's Prayer, but this is the basic thing of how to pray From there. Take it yourself. How do you pray? Because it has to be from your heart. It can't be straight from the book. No, what's happening in your life? You've got to pray over your things, the people, the issues that are affecting your life. Are you paying attention? You know what's happening with your emotions, because those emotions are there for a reason.
JK47:
1:55:38 I thought emotions were bad. They're not bad. It's just something that I have to go through with God. People won't understand my emotions. They'll get emotions and they'll get emotional themselves. And it's just like. This is confusing. We're getting emotional and it happens when you're drunk. That's so silly. No one can help anything. You just have to go away with yourself and deal with that sort of stuff so you can come to the table prepared and ready. And that's not for everyone, but for everyone who's called to, for everyone who got people leaning on them to be comforted, and to everyone who knows what it feels like to be comforted by the comforter. This is what we are called to do and this is why we're having the yarn.
Joseph Brown:
1:56:25 Man this is going to be. I know more and more people are starting to understand this concept. That's right. More and more people like yourself and I was mentioning this guy, Forrest Frank, and there's a lot of these other people who are starting to come through. This is the sort of conversation that needs to be had to start building courage in those sleeper Christians who need to step into those roles of being bold and strong and going now. This is the. This is the task at hand. The task at hand is this time, it's time. It's time.
JK47:
1:56:57 Time is here oh, it very much. Is time, man, you know like, and it's not time to.
JK47:
1:57:02 It's not time to be like daunted, it's not time to be like scared or scared because I look, I understand why and how you could be like that, but it isn't the time. It's the time to to be strong. You know what I mean? Like, like. But this is the thing this stuff that's going on in the world can make you feel weak. So how do you be strong when you're weak? You go to God and you let him be your strength. You know, like, this is how you do it, because we are at our point, like, I don't know how to choose, but I was at a breaking point and I broke, you know.
Joseph Brown:
1:57:39 Yeah.
JK47:
1:57:40 Like you know, but I didn't break in front of, I couldn't break down in front of everybody. How could I break down? This year, show after show, this workshops, little people, you know, I'm leading the way. I got brothers and sisters, you know like, and no complaining, but I could. You know like I could have been there complaining the whole time, like you know, but no, I had to keep moving, bro. You know like I couldn't. I can't explain it, man.
JK47:
1:58:12 This is God's calling over my life, you know. Do you hear the calling? Are you going to heed the calling? You know, like, are you listening? Are you seeking? Some people aren't even looking for anything.
JK47:
1:58:21 Like you know, I'm searching, like if anybody's searching, like the grace abounds. I'm searching, like if anybody's searching, like the grace abounds, it's there. You know, Like, all you've got to be doing is like seeking, and like my mom had to do it and I had to learn it from my mom. Like you know, she was raised religious and she woke up one day and she had to scream out for Jesus. Like, who are you? I don't even know you. Like you know, I thought I knew you, but I know nothing about you, and she got to know who he was through experience, through falling down. You know, because he was there every time and as she got up, every time he was there, you know he was there. He will always be there. He will never leave you or forsake you.
JK47:
1:59:01 You know, like people will. People will do that to you every time. They will, you know, like, like, and give them, just give them a chance to do it. Like, even if they're there again and again and again, sooner or later they're going to let you down and it's not going to be their fault either. They're going to turn around and be like look, I do this, you know I can't do it anymore. You know, and you're going to be like, I understand, because these are human things, but, like you know, we are spirit first. So, like, when you find it hard to be human out here, remember your spirit and we get like you know, it's not me, but he who is in me, you know, yeah, like you know it's not me, is he that's in me, you know yeah, man like he's greater, he's greater.
JK47:
1:59:42 Like then, then, everything you know, he's it's greater, it's bigger, it's greater, it's greater, it's greater. He is much greater than everything. Like that's out here and so like, yeah, keep your eyes fixed on him and everything that you need will, like you know, yeah, it'll keep you focused on the next thing.
Joseph Brown:
2:00:03 You know, like it'll just be like that and like, yeah, Do you have any pieces of advice for anyone out there that's on this journey to be putting God first in their music? Anything out there that you could share as a human, you know, as a man, as JK47?
JK47:
2:00:26 Yeah, thank you. Just know that God loves you. You know, like, just know, know God's love for you. It'll change your world. You know, people don't know God loves them, people don't know that they're loved. You know, and you know, like don't know, what love is like when you don't know that. You know, like you've got to know God's love for you for yourself, yeah, for yourself, that you know, like you gotta know god's love for you for yourself, yeah, for yourself. Like I can look around at people that are repping god, you know, on on instagram, this and that. But it was like I was saying, until I go and know god for myself, like there's just gonna be that spirit, like I'm just not gonna be connecting, like it's not it's my relationship, it's someone else's relationship.
JK47:
2:01:32 And I heard this story. So Jesus is throwing a party. God and Jesus, they're throwing a party and you heard about it. You want to tell other people about it. That's how you think he's going to let you in. You know what I mean. You're not going to get to know the. You don't know the dude, you don't know him, but you heard about this party. It's gonna be great. You know it's gonna be mad. Everything gonna be lovely, gold streets, everything, you know, all goods. Oh, I'll go and tell people you know about this party, you know this and that, and you see people they got, they know about the party. They're going, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, you know this and that talking about this party, talking about the person that froze the party and this and that what you've heard about him.
JK47:
2:02:11 But you're gonna rock up there when it's time and be like, yeah, I'm ready to come in and he's like, do I know you, do you do I know you like, and do you even know me? Do you know me like? You know what I, who I really am like, were you there, you know, did up, you know like to establish that relationship and then go out there and and feed you know the hungry, go visit them, like I said, they're like. You know, like, like it says in the word, there to go out and do that because you know Jesus, you know, not to get somewhere, to get into heaven. No, no, no, no, no, no, that's not.
JK47:
2:02:52 You know like it's different, like this is like it's on my heart to speak this because I've been realizing, you know, like it's what it's all about. I think it's the misconception. You know, like how we conceptualize this whole thing. We got it the other way around because it was that religious spirit and it's just like, really like I'm just tapping into the love and I just want to like I'm telling you about Jesus, I'm telling you about God, but rather tell you, I'm going to show you, like, with everything that I do, with who I am with, with how I behave with, with how I hold myself as a man, you know, like this is how we show them god's grace and his love by doing it, because the actions speak louder than words, you know, but before the actions it was only the word, you know. So it's just take that, add that up for yourself, you know yeah, bro, brother, it's.
Joseph Brown:
2:03:48 It's been what a pleasure to talk with you, bro, and just yeah, man, I actually I'm actually speechless, bro, like this is what the the. This is how I'm feeling right now me too, um, but I do know that that this, this word that we've been speaking on, is going to reach so many people, and people are thirsting for this. They're going to love this man because there's just something here that's just meant to be. This conversation was meant to be more than ever. I believe that, more than ever, that's right, and thank you, brian.
JK47:
2:04:24 Yeah, thank you, man. You know, like I just can't stop talking about God, like, especially in this space that's designed for this is why I jumped on, because you were like, bro, I'm Christian, you know, I see you standing up for Jesus. I want you to like. This is why I was like, you know, I know that this is what I'm supposed to be doing up here, like I'm repping god, I'm repping jesus, like you know, I'm repping him out here, not just out here, but I did this so I can be strong out there.
JK47:
2:04:55 Yeah, this didn't take from me, it actually built me up. That's the difference. These things don't make me tired. They, they give you strength when you do this. This is why I can go and do the workshops, I can go and do this and I can go into community or do whatever, and nothing is gonna like, it's not gonna affect me, because I got god like with me, like, yeah, he would he with me in the fire, in the times. Like you know, it's gonna get hard, but, like you know, it's gonna be all right. Like you know, that's just god shaping you, getting you ready for the next level, which is going to be even harder, but because you went through that first one. You ready, yeah, you're ready, yeah, you're ready, brother.
Joseph Brown:
2:05:34 Stay ready. Eh, stay ready, we stay ready, yeah bro, Stay sharp.
JK47:
2:05:37 Yeah, that's right, my bro Respect bro.
Joseph Brown:
2:05:40 For sure for. Much love and thank you everyone else for listening in and vibing out and I'm sure you took a lot on from that conversation Looking forward to upcoming and more conversation. I'm looking forward to talking with you more bro. Yeah. And you know, maybe in another year, or maybe in six months or whatever, bro, Like you know, this is going to be ongoing, yeah yeah, we'll come back and share what we've learned.
JK47:
2:06:04 Yeah. That's what it's about, yeah yeah, yeah, peace off and bless up everyone yeah.
