Steelers–Browns TNF Picks | Week 4 Best Bets & Porter to Dallas — Coach and Company Thursday 10/1/26

News of the day opens on the MLB Wild Card sweeps: the White Sox in Houston, the Yankees over the Red Sox and the Padres over the Cubs, with Phillies–Braves headed to a Game 3 that night (FOX Sports). San Diego State's football team has a mumps outbreak days before its first-ever Pac-12 game, against Texas State (CBS Sports). Peyton Lodge is up early for every MLB playoff pitch and thinks either the Phillies or the Braves can beat the Dodgers. Mikey P, a Red Sox fan, switches to football: he says Jerry Jones is "getting smarter as he gets older" after Dallas traded for cornerback Joey Porter Jr. from the Steelers (NFL.com), and Coach admits he can't tell when Mikey is being sarcastic.

Then the Week 4 best bets. Mikey P takes the Cardinals on the road against the Giants, the Cowboys getting points in Houston and the Rams' team total in Philadelphia. Coach calls the Cowboys number the most mispriced line of the week. Peyton Lodge likes the Bears at home against the Jets after Case Keenum's Monday-night win over the Eagles (PFT), the Rams to cover in Philly (he calls the Eagles the NFL's most overrated team) and the Jaguars getting points in Cincinnati. In Inside Info, Raphael Esparza shares a Jaguars totals trend, a Browns team-total over and a Rodgers completions under for TNF, and the Chargers getting a touchdown in Seattle (SI). All picks and trends are the hosts' opinions, and lines move.

Gridiron Time goes to Steelers at Browns (CBS Sports). Mikey P likes the Steelers' team total and DK Metcalf's receiving yards, and Coach points out that the brand's two team-total overs leave Peyton alone on the under. Coach brings two trends: the Browns have won seven straight on Thursday Night Football, and the Steelers are 0-9 in divisional road Thursday games under Mike Tomlin (Steelers.com). Then the big debate: Coach says Deshaun Watson's turnaround with Browns fans is the quickest comeback story he has seen, and says sports is the great equalizer. Mikey P says Cleveland will boo if Watson struggles, and Coach runs him through a yes-or-no cross-examination. Peyton calls it the most upside-down story in the NFL.
