OVER DEZE AFLEVERING
The show discussed the Walk to End Alzheimer's with Mallory Thompson, the walk manager for Tifton, Valdosta, Bainbridge, and Albany. Alzheimer's disease, the most common type of dementia, was explained as a progressive brain disorder affecting memory and thinking skills. Raising awareness is crucial for early detection and better management. The walk is a year-long fundraising campaign, with 70% of funds going to research and less than 5% to administration. Dougherty County has a high prevalence of Alzheimer's, with 15% of the elderly population affected. The Valdosta walk is on October 18 at Valdosta Middle School, with registration starting at 9 am.
