OVER DEZE AFLEVERING
Bryce Young is entering Year 4 with his ceiling still officially "unknown" — and both Dave Canales and Brandt Tillis made that clear in back-to-back pressers at training camp. Canales broke down exactly why Bryce is playing faster this camp: eliminating reads before the snap, throwing with real anticipation, and building the kind of chemistry with Tommy Tremble that's produced explosive plays on vertical concepts multiple practices in a row. Then Tillis stepped up and doubled down — "he ascended last year, and there's still room for him to ascend" — while shutting down any real details on where extension talks stand, saying those conversations stay internal between the organization and Bryce's camp. That wasn't the only storyline from camp. Canales gave the clearest injury update yet, confirming Mitchell Evans, Tommy Tremble, Bobby Brown, and Robert Hunt are all back on the field, and laid out the plan for Thursday's preseason opener — no starters, including Monroe Freeling, with Kenny Pickett getting the start. Tillis also opened up about how analytics shape roster construction, why Carolina's roster skews so young, and where things stand with Jaycee Horn and Mike Jackson heading into contract-relevant seasons.Rounding it out, Princely Umanmielen delivered one of the most personal interviews of camp — crediting a renewed faith and full lifestyle overhaul for his growth, explaining why he's logged off social media until he makes a Pro Bowl, and sharing how he comforted Nic Scourton in the moment his teammate went down with a season-ending injury. We're covering every angle of Panthers training camp all summer — practice reports, injury tracking, roster battles, and the road to Thursday's opener.
