OVER DEZE AFLEVERING
Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren of SB Nation/Buffalo Rumblings for a complete positional breakdown of the Buffalo Bills’ win over the Los Angeles Chargers.
The guys go position-by-position through the Bills roster, handing out grades and discussing what stood out after reviewing the game. Josh Allen had an unusually sloppy performance with three turnovers, but still delivered when Buffalo needed him most. Meanwhile, James Cook powered the offense with 154 rushing yards, Greg Rousseau continued his dominant start to the season, and C.J. Gardner-Johnson delivered one of the biggest defensive plays of the game.
Patrick and Matt also discuss concerns along the offensive line, the continued emergence of Dwayne Carter, Buffalo's rookie contributions, the secondary's performance and whether the Bills are beginning to separate themselves in the AFC East.
Key Takeaways- Josh Allen battled through a rough performance. Allen committed three turnovers and struggled early, but made several critical plays late—including a huge fourth-down completion to Ty Johnson—to help Buffalo escape with the victory.
- James Cook continues to look like a difference-maker. Despite fumbling on the opening play, Cook responded with 154 rushing yards on 24 carries and became the engine of Buffalo's offense.
- Greg Rousseau is playing at an elite level. Rousseau finished with two sacks, four tackles for loss and eight pressures, continuing an outstanding start to the season.
- Buffalo's safeties changed the game. C.J. Gardner-Johnson's interception prevented a potential Chargers touchdown and helped create a massive momentum swing, while Cole Bishop delivered another encouraging performance.
- There are some areas worth monitoring. Alec Anderson struggled in pass protection, Christian Benford left with an injury, and several young Bills—including T.J. Parker—have yet to make the early-season impact some expected.
