[00:00:16] Hunter Hill: a little bit, but um, I landed on the Duke of Danger,
[00:00:24] Daniel Matthews: so funny enough, I tried to work some things with Duke as well. Yeah. It just wasn't, it wasn't working. There's no, the half blueprints is a sick man. Yeah. That's awesome. None of mine are cool. Uh, I put, I put Dirty Dan, you like walk
[00:00:42] Hunter Hill: in. They're like, oh, dirty dancer. Oh, dirty. I
[00:00:43] Daniel Matthews: mean, I'm like, what kind of wizard do I want people to like,
[00:00:47] Hunter Hill: oh yeah,
[00:00:47] Daniel Matthews: know me by.
You're obviously a dangerous, are you an order? Oh, are you a death eater? Of course. No, I'm definitely an order.
[00:00:55] Hunter Hill: Come on.
[00:00:56] Daniel Matthews: Are you right? Come on. The other one is even worse. You want me to [00:01:00] share it? Yeah. The illusionist. I don't Okay. What's that even mean? Okay. I don't even know if I spelled it right. I no idea.
We think he's here. Is he actually here? Well, honestly, my logic was what's the spell you wanna be known for? Ooh. Like would that, could that somehow, like how would you organically get your nickname? Mm-hmm. Half Blood Prince was Self given. Yeah. And honestly Snap's kind of the creative type. He came up with spells, he came up with a really sick name.
He's willing to To bend the rules. Yeah. From the book, dude, kind of, I mean, you hate him in this film. I mean, you love him overall. Come on. No, I mean, spoilers, you love him at the end, but you're like, the peak hate might be right now. Oh, totally. Dude. You're just like,
[00:01:46] Hunter Hill: totally. My wife doesn't like, she didn't read, she read, she's read like the first book.
She's watching him with me and like at the beginning she's like, he's good, right? And I'm like, I, [00:02:00] I, I just, you like watch, tell you. Yeah. Yeah. And then we finished it and she's like, okay, so he's bad, right? I'm like, I just, what, what do you want me to say? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Do you just want me to tell you? Yeah.
Like, 'cause I, I don't, I don't wanna do that. And what did you do? She, you said she doesn't like, she doesn't like spoilers. Um, or excuse me. She doesn't like, surprise, surprise. Yeah. Okay. Surprises. Like, she enjoys just knowing and then like, it, it just allows her to enjoy the movie more. Which is, it is what it is.
[00:02:33] Daniel Matthews: It's like, well, actually, you could argue that you'll enjoy it more if you Yeah.
[00:02:36] Hunter Hill: But, but
[00:02:37] Daniel Matthews: hey, it's what it is. Sarah. You can do whatever you want. Okay. I'm not,
[00:02:39] Hunter Hill: yeah,
[00:02:40] Daniel Matthews: yeah. If that's how she wants to
[00:02:41] Hunter Hill: consume it, she can do whatever she wants. Hey, hey. So I, uh, I, I didn't tell her. I also don't remember what I told her, so I'm sure it was just so neutral.
The Duke of danger. Duke of danger. Yeah. Dude, you're, you're, you're, you're living on the edge. That nickname dude, man, living on the [00:03:00] edge. Not telling her it's
[00:03:01] Daniel Matthews: crazy. It's pretty tight. Okay. Well, we had a plan about an hour and a half ago to have another guest with us. Mm. He got sick. Mm-hmm. Sick air quotes.
He
[00:03:10] Hunter Hill: had some, uh, puking. Puking pastels. Yeah, he, yeah, he
[00:03:13] Daniel Matthews: had some of the weasley, whatever. Yeah. And I get it. But we were gonna play a little this or that with him.
[00:03:18] Hunter Hill: Mm-hmm.
[00:03:18] Daniel Matthews: Which you've been playing. I played
[00:03:20] Hunter Hill: a
[00:03:20] Daniel Matthews: little bit too. I think this one still plays ball.
[00:03:23] Hunter Hill: Okay.
[00:03:23] Daniel Matthews: Let's, so we're gonna go through this or that?
I'll play as well. All right. Okay. I'll get it. You ready? Yeah. Alright. This or that? And this is rapid fire. This is rapid fire? Yeah. Okay. Felix Felicis or Sorcerer Stone? Felix. I'll go Felix as well. Spider or basals? I mean spider. I'll go basals. He doesn't know the, there's no context. Is this what you're scared of?
This what I mean, we dunno. Lupin or serious? Lupin. Luin as well, dude. Yeah, you're right, right. Uh, derm string or Bob Batten. Wow. Uh, [00:04:00] well, yeah. Bob button. Did I say it right?
[00:04:02] Hunter Hill: Bob Batten.
[00:04:03] Daniel Matthews: Bob button. Bo Batten Probably. Yeah. Them them. Okay. Derm stringing Wewe. Just French. I have French in me, but I just, I mean,
[00:04:11] Hunter Hill: derm string are also bad guys.
[00:04:14] Daniel Matthews: Exactly. You know me. They're a bad guy. Dude. Dude. Dirty. Dan, I'm dirty. Dan, I'm Dering. Dan, you're the Duke of Bob Badden.
[00:04:24] Hunter Hill: They actually probably do have Dukes at that
[00:04:26] Daniel Matthews: school. They probably do. Okay. Order of the Phoenix. Oh, I've already asked you this. Order of the Phoenix or Fellowship of the Ring. I mean, you already said order.
I think it's, this was supposed to be for ad. Oh, okay. Okay. So, okay. Some of these are repeat. Do you change? Are you changing your answer? Uh,
[00:04:41] Hunter Hill: I think I said Order of the Phoenix, didn't I?
[00:04:42] Daniel Matthews: Yeah. You also chose 'em over the 96 Bulls, I'm pretty sure. Well, I'm, oh yeah. That's, that's tough, dude. That, that goes against a lot.
Yeah. What about the 25 Thunder? Oh, you gotta go. Congratulations. Yeah, man, we're out here. Congratulations. Hey, we're out here. I don't like 'em, but congratulations. Hey, it's good. But it's nothing personal. It's just
[00:04:59] Hunter Hill: worked [00:05:00] out.
[00:05:00] Daniel Matthews: It did work out okay.
[00:05:01] Hunter Hill: It worked out the way it should.
[00:05:01] Daniel Matthews: Child Tom Riddle or teenager?
Tom Riddle.
[00:05:05] Hunter Hill: I mean, they're both terrifying, to be honest. They're, uh, I guess, I guess, um, child. Mm,
[00:05:12] Daniel Matthews: see child actually seems more terrifying 'cause he can't control it, I guess that's true. He's like a little, he's a little angsty little kid.
[00:05:19] Hunter Hill: Yeah, that's very true. But
[00:05:20] Daniel Matthews: dude, this kid is, would not be a fun hang.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. He doesn't, you know. Yeah.
[00:05:24] Hunter Hill: He just gets upset and then he knows that he can dude the other person suffer. Yeah.
[00:05:29] Daniel Matthews: Okay. Few more. Slug Club or Quiddage team? Oh, Quidditch team. Same actually.
[00:05:40] Hunter Hill: Slug club. I'm changing. It seems fun on the surface.
[00:05:43] Daniel Matthews: It, here's the thing, I, I think that if this age, if I, if this was me answering for when I was in high school Quiddage team, no doubt.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Right now I'm like, yeah, SL Club sounds kind of tight actually. Club free food good. Hangs well, it might not be good. Hangs 'cause great networking. [00:06:00] Yeah, networking event. Kind of free ice cream.
[00:06:03] Hunter Hill: Free ice cream
[00:06:04] Daniel Matthews: kind down. Dude, they all had like eight scoops. Yeah. There's no way they're gonna eat all that.
Yeah. It was wild. Except
[00:06:10] Hunter Hill: for that one kid who was just housing one of my favorite lines. He's
[00:06:13] Daniel Matthews: like, he's like, we have, we kept some ice cream for you. Unless whatever his name, he left you any unless left you anyway. Yeah. Okay. Butter beer or, oh wait, this one's great. I, oh man. I have to really get this one out.
I think there's only one right answer for you actually. Butter Beer or Snogging Jenny.
[00:06:34] Hunter Hill: I was literally like, what other drinks are there? Uh, I'm gonna go butter beer.
[00:06:39] Daniel Matthews: Yeah. Yeah. I'm gonna go butter beer as well. But these are things that happen in the three broomsticks, so That's
[00:06:44] Hunter Hill: true. That's true. And then this one,
[00:06:45] Daniel Matthews: this one takes,
[00:06:45] Hunter Hill: that's funny.
[00:06:46] Daniel Matthews: This one We live in a real world. That's all I'm saying.
Okay. Okay. So you answer however you want. The Daily Prophet or CNN and Fox
[00:06:57] Hunter Hill: or CNN. And CNN
[00:06:58] Daniel Matthews: and Fox. That's [00:07:00] one. Oh, okay. Or the Daily Prophet.
[00:07:02] Hunter Hill: I mean,
I feel like at times they all three put out some pretty low quality work. Um, I mean, gimme the Daily Profit just because it, it, it moves. Mm-hmm. It's interactive. Mm-hmm. And it's still a paper Yeah. That you can hold. Yeah. Which is I think is awesome.
[00:07:25] Daniel Matthews: I'm gonna go with the profit as well, because. I think the profit can put out stuff that's like not, uh, d uh, what's the word?
Divis? Divisive. Yeah. What's the word? I don't, I'm not sure. Any of c Nnn or Fox can be like categorized as either of those. Yeah. So they're both pretty Plus they don't move. Yeah.
[00:07:49] Hunter Hill: Move. Unless you say they're
[00:07:49] Daniel Matthews: YouTube videos. But like
[00:07:50] Hunter Hill: I'm talking about a, I want a paper man. I want, I want a paper that that has a a, a video on it.
Exactly. Where's the technology for this? Not an embedded video on a website. No, no, no. [00:08:00] I want a paper. A paper video. A paper video. That's what i's got. Tie
[00:08:04] Daniel Matthews: dude. Be kind tight. Okay, let's dive in. Hunter, let's
[00:08:07] Hunter Hill: get into it.
[00:08:08] Daniel Matthews: Release date. July 15th, 2009. Runtime two and a half hours, 33 minutes. Specifically, rotten Tomato score is 84% critics, 78% audience, which I think is one of the lowest we've had so far.
Hmm. Budget, 250 million. Earnings, 302 million domestically, which isn't that much, but dome, uh, yeah. No. But then worldwide, 930 four's gracious. So they're like, yeah, you know what? We're gonna spend two 50 and domestically.
[00:08:40] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[00:08:41] Daniel Matthews: It's not really gonna play ball, but
[00:08:42] Hunter Hill: we'll, we'll, we'll pay the bills domestically, but worldwide.
[00:08:45] Daniel Matthews: Let's go baby. That's crazy, dude. That is wild. All right, hunter, please read the summary for us.
[00:08:51] Hunter Hill: Here we go. Harry Potter And the Half-Blood Print blends teen drama with creeping dread. Whoa. As Voldemort's [00:09:00] influence spreads across both the wizarding and Muggle world as Hogwarts adjust to this darker reality, Harry stumbles upon a mysterious potions book, marked Property of the Half Blood Prints.
But Dumbledore is his mentor. Harry digs into Voldemort's past to uncover the secret of Rexes, but between quidditch, trouts, love, potions, mishaps, and an astronomy tower tragedy, this film reminds us all that growing up magical is still just as difficult as growing up
[00:09:30] Daniel Matthews: regular. Whoa. Wow. Just as difficult.
You might be able to, you know, repair something you broke, but
[00:09:36] Hunter Hill: yeah.
[00:09:37] Daniel Matthews: Your life's still in shambles. Yeah. Wow, wow, wow. Deep dude. Deep. Before we
[00:09:42] Hunter Hill: get into it, yeah. Come on.
Well, before we get into the questions, before we get into Yeah. A question. Yeah. Was it, was it like ordained that Harry would get that book? Mm. [00:10:00] See because the movie makes it seem like, oh, he just stumbles upon this book, which I'm like, okay. He's main character, so
[00:10:05] Daniel Matthews: I get it. Yeah. But
[00:10:07] Hunter Hill: like did Snape. Make it to where Harry would find the book.
[00:10:11] Daniel Matthews: So, uh, I think not. Okay. Because in the book, whenever Snape, whenever Harry does Secum Sempra on Draco, Snape is like the one who's there to heal him or whatever. Yeah. Yeah. And he's like, ah, bring me your book bag. Oh, okay. And so Harry Oh yeah. Ends up replacing it with Ron's book and brings it back. But Snape, uh, he's like, what the heck?
So I don't think he ordained it. Yeah, yeah. Unless, dude, what if it was ordained for Drake? I mean, I don't know. Yeah. But Snake seems like a wise enough guy to not leave that book there. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. His personal, like journal, I mean, yeah, it's a little bit of a stretch, but he is the main character, so like
[00:10:57] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
I mean, I get it. I get [00:11:00] that it's supposed to have it, it just feel, feels a little too convenient.
[00:11:04] Daniel Matthews: It, it is, it does feel that way. Very much. Very much so. Okay. Bye. No one's super new except for Jim Broadbent. One of your favorite actors who plays Horace Slughorn.
[00:11:15] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[00:11:16] Daniel Matthews: Who is much better in the movie than the book.
[00:11:18] Hunter Hill: Yep.
[00:11:19] Daniel Matthews: Kind of sucks in the book, in the movie. Eh? He's great. I mean, the guy does a great job portraying him. Mm-hmm. He's a more lively slughorn in the movie. The book, just whatever. It's, I was really, because I watched it first, then read. I was so confused. Oh, really? Reading about shorn. I was like, interesting.
I'm like, dude, the movie did so much better. He's like, interesting. He's like short and really fat. Okay. It has like a walrus mustache in the book. Okay. That's just not what I picture. Very interesting. I picture him as, as the guy in the movie, that guy. Guy man. He just, he's really good. Okay.
[00:11:52] Hunter Hill: Interesting.
[00:11:53] Daniel Matthews: So, um, alright, we're diving straight in.
We have, you know, what would your wizarding nickname be? We moved that to the front 'cause it's such an [00:12:00] important question. Big Hunter. Better title for this film. So I got two.
[00:12:07] Hunter Hill: First one is Harry Potter in the splitting of souls. Whoa. Okay. Okay. Just because I feel like the horror crux is like fully introduced.
[00:12:20] Daniel Matthews: Mm.
[00:12:21] Hunter Hill: Here, like you learn about it. Um, and obviously it's gonna set the tone for the rest of the, the rest of the series. Um, and so you get out of it like, Hey, that's actually, it feels like it sets the direction of where things are going.
[00:12:39] Daniel Matthews: Yeah.
[00:12:40] Hunter Hill: Um, but so there's that one.
[00:12:43] Daniel Matthews: Wait, let's, let's go back and forth.
'cause I, I actually wanna riff on that one. That's good.
[00:12:46] Hunter Hill: That's good
[00:12:47] Daniel Matthews: because I had a lot of difficulty coming with titles for this one because this one's a really good, it's titled pretty well. Yeah. It's What about. Off of your, you said the splitting, um, souls. Yeah. Harry Potter and the splitting memories.[00:13:00]
Oh. Because it's like, not only is he trying to get a memory, he's going back to get memories. Those memories themselves are splitting. That's crazy. And splitting wars as well. Ever think about that? That's wild. What do you think about that?
[00:13:16] Hunter Hill: Uh, I think the fact that you can taint a memory, which, which I guess that's real.
Like you can, yeah. I mean, yeah. The human brain, you can just think that a thing happened so much that you actually believe that it did,
[00:13:27] Daniel Matthews: but he did it so intentionally.
[00:13:29] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[00:13:29] Daniel Matthews: So he purposely hid that.
[00:13:31] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[00:13:32] Daniel Matthews: That's kind of crazy.
[00:13:33] Hunter Hill: I wonder if that's J K's take on like
[00:13:37] Daniel Matthews: trauma
[00:13:38] Hunter Hill: Yeah. Or people choosing to believe something just to like
[00:13:42] Daniel Matthews: bury it, dude, potentially.
I don't know.
[00:13:45] Hunter Hill: I mean, I don't know. I just feel like there's so many themes that I would love to ask her about and be like, did you, was this like. Were you trying to like include this part of
[00:13:56] Daniel Matthews: Yeah.
[00:13:56] Hunter Hill: Humanity.
[00:13:57] Daniel Matthews: She doesn't have a ton of interviews out there. Yeah, I mean [00:14:00] she does, but it's like kinda want more now that it's like settled.
I'm like surface level interviews. Tell me, tell me, tell me all these questions I have. Yeah, let's get
[00:14:07] Hunter Hill: into
[00:14:07] Daniel Matthews: the
[00:14:08] Hunter Hill: deep.
[00:14:08] Daniel Matthews: Yeah. Deep cut. All right. Here's one of mine and we'll, you probably have a couple more. You're better at these, this section than I'm got
[00:14:14] Hunter Hill: one more.
[00:14:15] Daniel Matthews: This one's I think funny.
[00:14:16] Hunter Hill: Okay.
[00:14:17] Daniel Matthews: There's a lot of levels on this Harry Potter and the astronomical downfall.
Wow. Think about it. Astronomy tower.
[00:14:26] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[00:14:27] Daniel Matthews: Downfall. Literally double door literally falls off astronomy tower literally. And everything starts going south.
[00:14:34] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[00:14:35] Daniel Matthews: So there's not actually that many levels.
[00:14:38] Hunter Hill: I mean, it's very literal.
[00:14:43] Daniel Matthews: I've always been accused of being very low. Dang it. Okay. Not bad. All right. I mean, it's not good. It's not good.
[00:14:49] Hunter Hill: What
[00:14:49] Daniel Matthews: you got?
[00:14:50] Hunter Hill: Um, this is kind of vague. Harry Potter in the beginning of the end.
[00:14:58] Daniel Matthews: That's like the most like [00:15:00] cliche title.
[00:15:01] Hunter Hill: It's like the beginning
[00:15:01] Daniel Matthews: of the end, dude. It's
[00:15:02] Hunter Hill: like, okay, so it's about to be, mm-hmm. The reason I said that was again, because of the hor crx is like, this is where the hor crux is. Really? Yeah. It's where, it's the movie where the Horcrux is then take center stage.
[00:15:12] Daniel Matthews: Agree. Yeah. So I had a Harry Potter. I have some funny ones in here. They're actually not that funny. I'm reading 'em 'cause I think they're funny, but they're not. This one's not. This one's super serious, dude. Okay. Harry Potter and the Dark Lord's secrets. Wow. That's pretty good. That's not bad.
[00:15:29] Hunter Hill: That's not horrible.
I feel like there's a way you could dress that title up. Oh, you,
[00:15:33] Daniel Matthews: it's the most plain Jane. Just vanilla ice cream. Yeah. I love vanilla ice creams. So good. Don't get me wrong. So good. You gotta put something you beside. Alright, you got another one?
[00:15:43] Hunter Hill: Yeah. Um, Hogwarts really isn't that safe? Part six? There it is.
There it is. I, which I was pleased and, and I guess I'm reminded, but I was glad, like the whole movie takes place at Hogwarts except for when [00:16:00] they go to get the horse crux.
[00:16:01] Daniel Matthews: Mm-hmm.
[00:16:02] Hunter Hill: And then like the borough and diagonally before they Nice. Go to Hog Hogwarts. So, uh, Bian Burkes. Bian Burke. Like, I, I don't think I, I think in order the Phoenix, I was like, yeah, this is where it.
This is where the series stops. Mm-hmm. Being at Hogwarts as like the main setting and then it moves like out into the world. And it was just a fun reminder that like, actually this whole movie takes place at Hogwarts
[00:16:29] Daniel Matthews: and it's the last time they're really there. Yeah. Until the final. Yeah. Yeah. It's awesome.
So I, that was, I, I really enjoyed that there was Okay. In, in, um, chamber of Secrets. I think they do a really good job of keeping you kind of like, guessing, like there's potential options. There's several options for, uh, the Air of Slytherin. Mm-hmm. This one, it almost feels not like you can't even grasp it.
It almost feels like it's actually not important who that is,
[00:16:59] Hunter Hill: who the half Blood [00:17:00] Friends is. Yeah. But I'm
[00:17:00] Daniel Matthews: like, I think you could have spun it. I don't know how, like you could have made it hinting more at Snape or hinting more like Draco. 'cause he's has a lot of like secret scenes in here or. Maybe it was another name for Baltimore.
I don't know. Yeah. You know, you could have, um,
[00:17:19] Hunter Hill: I don't know. So this is, well, we, we will talk about it in the, in the, in the pet peeves and the nitpicks. Okay. Uh, so we, we, we, we can keep rolling. Okay. I have one more. Yeah, go ahead.
[00:17:30] Daniel Matthews: Harry Potter and another secret book. Oh, wow. Wow, wow.
[00:17:36] Hunter Hill: I mean, I guess they're part of the
[00:17:37] Daniel Matthews: Chamber of Secrets part too.
[00:17:39] Hunter Hill: In the Chamber of Secrets. I mean,
[00:17:41] Daniel Matthews: secret cabinet.
[00:17:43] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[00:17:44] Daniel Matthews: I tried to come up with something with cabinet and it never really, or the vanishing
[00:17:48] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[00:17:49] Daniel Matthews: Cabinet. Yeah. It's lame.
[00:17:50] Hunter Hill: Yeah. What's also crazy is that you don't see bold and war at all in this movie. Dude. He's never in these movies. He's, he like, [00:18:00] I think it's actually very skillful that he's not.
[00:18:03] Daniel Matthews: Mm-hmm.
[00:18:05] Hunter Hill: Like it's, it's all about, it's like jaws. Yeah.
[00:18:09] Daniel Matthews: You never really, you don't see a lot of the shark. You see. Moving, like something moving through the water uhhuh, but you don't see a lot of the shark.
[00:18:16] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[00:18:17] Daniel Matthews: And so you actually get more scared. So you're,
[00:18:19] Hunter Hill: you're like, oh shoot. Like where is he? Because you see what he's doing to Draco.
Mm-hmm. And you see what he is doing, like the death eaters and how they're Yeah. Running rampant. And you're like, oh man. Like this is crazy. He's obviously not idle. He's doing something. Yeah. He's working. But yeah, I think it's very, very, very interesting. And, and imagine like back when it came out, 'cause I mean, what, what year did this one come out again?
2009. Nine. Okay. So, you know, by the time 2009 rolled around, I mean, people are in the thick of the series. Right. And, um, [00:19:00] they probably waited at least a year since order of the Phoenix. And then it's gonna be another year at least for,
[00:19:10] Daniel Matthews: uh, part
[00:19:10] Hunter Hill: one. Of Deathly Hallows. And so it's like people actually went three years, at least two or three years without seeing Voldemort.
[00:19:19] Daniel Matthews: Yeah. And like that's kind of crazy flashbacks.
[00:19:20] Hunter Hill: Yeah. Maybe they couldn't afford Raf Raffe fine. Yeah. We can't afford this guy. Which, which I guess you see Riddle and so you see Vold Mart, but, but I know what you mean. Don't see both more himself.
[00:19:32] Daniel Matthews: It's for someone being one of considered one of the greatest villains.
Mm-hmm. He doesn't have a lot of screen time. Yeah, yeah. Like even in the final one, he, it's mainly on hair. I, it's mainly on Harry. Yeah. It's interesting. I wonder if it keeps his aura. I think it does. I think he's also kind of a coward. Like he works, he operates in the dark. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He does not really ever come out and like, you know, in the, in [00:20:00] the, in the seventh, the book, it talks about how like, he essentially is the minister of magic, but he, why would he, he doesn't need to declare himself.
He, he has people doing that for him. He can already doing it. Yeah. He's already doing it anyway. It doesn't matter. It's like Oh. Kind of, kind of smart actually. Yeah. Do I do it? Okay. All right. Segments. We're getting into it.
[00:20:19] Hunter Hill: Let's get into
[00:20:20] Daniel Matthews: it. Collectible memorabilia.
[00:20:23] Hunter Hill: I can't remember what it's called, but gimme the, the flash bang thing from, from the flashback.
Oh, the, from Weasley that, uh, the Peru Black. Peruvian Black, yeah. Yeah. Darkness powder. Dude, that Harry used the tank car. Powerful. Pretty cool. What would you use it for? I don't know. I don't even know. I don't even know, but it'd be Did you scare people? Just, yeah. He's just like, let's shake things up. I'm the duke of danger, so it's like,
[00:20:51] Daniel Matthews: honestly, you can do whatever you want.
Yeah.
[00:20:52] Hunter Hill: I'll be like, just see, see, see how we're feeling. Yeah. Would you just have one? I dunno. Well, that gets into, that [00:21:00] gets into a later segment.
[00:21:01] Daniel Matthews: Oh.
[00:21:03] Hunter Hill: We can table.
[00:21:05] Daniel Matthews: Okay. Okay. Okay. So
[00:21:06] Hunter Hill: we can table it there.
[00:21:08] Daniel Matthews: So what about you? Not as much, um, memorabilia on this one.
[00:21:16] Hunter Hill: Yeah,
[00:21:16] Daniel Matthews: I think,
[00:21:17] Hunter Hill: yeah.
[00:21:18] Daniel Matthews: Or maybe I just wasn't paying attention.
I'm not sure.
[00:21:20] Hunter Hill: I mean, it doesn't feel like there's tons.
[00:21:22] Daniel Matthews: I'm gonna go with, gosh, I'm between two glasses. Oh. Either Luna's quibbler glasses or slug horns hourglass. Oh, okay. That's a pretty, yeah, I think I'm gonna go with that one. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Even if it doesn't work magically, I'm like, yeah, it looked pretty
[00:21:39] Hunter Hill: cool.
It's pretty sick. Idea. Idea of the concept of it too. Is, is really cool. Yeah. It's so cool. What is it? If it's still moving, if it, it slows
[00:21:48] Daniel Matthews: down, the conversation is really good.
[00:21:51] Hunter Hill: Okay. Or if vice, I don't, yeah. But basically it's a measure of the quality of conversation. Mm-hmm. Which is cool. I wonder if you could get that.[00:22:00]
[00:22:00] Daniel Matthews: Like in the real world? Is there like, could you, could AI be like an alarm clock on the wall? That's like listening? They're always listening, you know, but like, it's measuring the conversation. It's like weak, weak. Get outta here. Leave, get outta here. Maybe. I mean, you never know. Yeah. Um, okay. Most YouTube able scene, so I got two of them.
[00:22:28] Hunter Hill: I think the first one is just doomo door setting. The cave on fire. So good. Like, you come up and he is just like, like the whole cavern is in flames. That underwater
[00:22:44] Daniel Matthews: shot is tight. Oh man. With the fire going through. Yeah.
[00:22:46] Hunter Hill: How'd they even, you literally look at Harry and you're like, this is, this is how it ends.
Like there's no way. You're like, he can't, it just feels pretty hopeless. And then. Um, [00:23:00] Dumble door, I guess reaches his wand, dude, and is able to put it on fire. And you're like, wow. Okay. So this is, this is what happens when a wizard
[00:23:11] Daniel Matthews: is in his bag. Is is gets in his bag. This is, this is 90, what'd they say? Is it 94 or 95?
Jordan is the prime Jordan. Oh, yeah. Yeah. This is, this is prime double door. Even this is flu game, Jordan. He's like, I'm still putting up 40. Yeah, he's,
[00:23:26] Hunter Hill: I'm still doing enough to get the job done. I'm getting the
[00:23:29] Daniel Matthews: job. He's literally like, har can't he move, gimme water.
[00:23:33] Hunter Hill: And then he is like, all right, all right, fine.
Which, what he's done is what I wanna do to my rankings. Just set him on fire.
[00:23:44] Daniel Matthews: Hey, we're gonna get to that. Any who we're, we're definitely gonna get to that. Okay. What do you got? I have a dude. I love the nice skin one. They're in the, we're they're in bed and it's like, oh yeah, what do you even Ds and Jenny's like, I don't know.
He's got nice skin. I don't know. [00:24:00] She's
[00:24:00] Hunter Hill: smart.
[00:24:01] Daniel Matthews: It's like a pause and Ron's like, Armani's got nice skin. Her's got nice
[00:24:04] Hunter Hill: skin.
[00:24:05] Daniel Matthews: I mean, yeah, as skin goes, you know, as skin goes. Yeah. This, this one's actually, that's actually really
[00:24:11] Hunter Hill: funny. There's some really good fun moments of like, okay, these are, these are people, whoever, these are
[00:24:17] Daniel Matthews: teenagers.
I think this is the same writer. I think he's the writer for all of them, but he really like, those moments aren't as much in the book. No, he, because maybe it's so dark. He really like, dude, I was like really laughing. Yeah.
[00:24:31] Hunter Hill: He did a good job of like, okay, where's some humor in this?
[00:24:35] Daniel Matthews: Like, even Argo's funeral, my gosh is hilarious.
That whole seed is just like,
[00:24:41] Hunter Hill: and it was, uh, and, and that one. And then, uh, uh, slowhorn is like. Would you like me to say a few words? Og? Yeah. Well
it just like, he's just like, I just got, I just have like a, a funeral [00:25:00] speech in my back pocket. Seems like a guy who would though. Oh, he totally would. Yeah. Do you have another one? Um, yeah, I think Ron Dominating and Quidditch is awesome. I think the, it's funny, I forgot about that. That uh, that part where like Harry just very obviously mm-hmm.
Makes him think that he gave him Felix placebo. Yeah. And it's just like, he's like, all right dude.
[00:25:25] Daniel Matthews: Yeah. Here we go.
[00:25:26] Hunter Hill: It's, it is just like,
[00:25:28] Daniel Matthews: this is awesome, dude. Yeah. That is such a cool scene. And I like
[00:25:31] Hunter Hill: the scene with him and Hermione, he's like, her's, like getting onto him for. Making him think that he used the Felix.
He's like, well, I could have just used a conus char, the fun charm.
[00:25:41] Daniel Matthews: He's like, well, yeah. Gotcha.
[00:25:45] Hunter Hill: That was a fun scene.
[00:25:46] Daniel Matthews: Yeah, it was a fun scene. I like that whole sequence. Even even the after where it gets a little sad 'cause him and Lavender. Oh. But it's still just a cool, it's a fun scene. It's, its a, it's
[00:25:54] Hunter Hill: a very good development scene.
Yeah.
[00:25:56] Daniel Matthews: It needed to happen for them to get together eventually. Right. Had had
[00:25:59] Hunter Hill: to,
[00:25:59] Daniel Matthews: I [00:26:00] love the first, uh, potions class. That is a fun one. And you're kind of figuring out what is this book? And Yeah. Even him and Ron fighting for the book is hilarious. Oh yeah. Like that whole, everything about that's kind of whimsical.
Yeah, yeah,
[00:26:13] Hunter Hill: yeah.
[00:26:13] Daniel Matthews: But it's, it builds a lot of character. Oh, from the mo, like the book is a character almost.
[00:26:18] Hunter Hill: Yeah. Truly.
[00:26:19] Daniel Matthews: Felix is a character and then like Leghorn rah. Mm-hmm. I mean, the whole thing is just, yeah. Because that's when Hermione iss like guessing all the different potions. Yep. Yep. And, uh, I, yeah, I love that scene.
Dude.
[00:26:30] Hunter Hill: There's some deep lore about that scene.
[00:26:32] Daniel Matthews: Like, about who she's attracted to.
[00:26:34] Hunter Hill: Well, about or what do you mean? Yeah. 'cause that love potion it like, makes you smell
[00:26:39] Daniel Matthews: Yeah. What you're attracted to. She names all, all the things that Ron would.
[00:26:41] Hunter Hill: Yeah. And, and I think I read something that was, she says like, experiment toothpaste or something.
'cause her parents are Dennis, I guess. I don't know, but like, this is what I read. So I wasn't paying close enough. A i, this keep this be completely false, but it was like orange. The, the, the [00:27:00] potion was orange when she was smelling it. And so it made her think of Ron, but she said spearmint toothpaste. 'cause she didn't want to say something that was, uh, that was, that was related to Ron.
That would, because what did she say? Freshly mowan grass parchment fresh parchment and experiment toothpaste tooth. So what, what they were saying is basically she said toothpaste because. She was thinking of Ron, but she didn't want Ronda think that she was thinking of him.
[00:27:29] Daniel Matthews: Interesting. I mean, I don't know.
I don't know. Well, she's on the spot man. They, because I was like, oh, it's 'cause she's a dentist. Yeah. But I thought of the same thought. I was like, these are the opposite of Ron. Yeah. That dude ain't cutting no grass. Yeah. He doesn't even like parchment. No. And come on. No hand brushing his teeth. Yeah. I don't how much he brushing his teeth.
Interesting. Yeah. I love that scene. That was good. Scene. Okay. Fun scene. Favorite line? Lots of good lines.
[00:27:54] Hunter Hill: I got two of them. Okay. I think it's funny when, uh, Ron is, um, [00:28:00] in the infirmary, the hospital and lavender comes and like her character obviously is just over the top. Over the top. But she's supposed to be.
Yeah. Um, and when she runs out and she's all sad and it's just like a bunch of like, okay, so you have, you have Harry Jenny. Hermione. And then Ron is obviously knocked out. Yeah. Madame Poey. Slughorn Snape and Dumbledore.
[00:28:30] Daniel Matthews: A McGonigle, I'm pretty sure.
[00:28:32] Hunter Hill: Was she in there? Isn't she in there, or, no, it's
[00:28:33] Daniel Matthews: Poey.
[00:28:34] Hunter Hill: You're right. And so it's like, yeah, I like the four adults in the room. There's no mention of a spouse. I don't think they, I mean, yeah, we've talked about this and so there's like, there's just like this weird, awkward and Dumbledore. Yeah. It's just like, oh, to the young and feel love's King Sting. And you're just like, like what?
Just [00:29:00] one liners St. Yeah. Just this movie was full of one-liners. Yeah. I thought that was funny because like. I think it did a, the juxta, the juxtaposition was really good. Yeah. Because to lavender especially, but to the, the teenagers, it's like a big deal. And Dumble door, like the way he says that is just like, we've all been through it.
This is not a big, like, okay, it is, this is what happens when you're a teenager. Oh, to be young. Yeah.
[00:29:24] Daniel Matthews: Yeah. And then they have like the poison bottle. It's like such a different Yeah, yeah, yeah. And snap's just like, snap doesn't even react. He's just like, this is what Double Door says. Yeah. He's just an idiot.
Whatever. I love that line. That one's a good ones. Uh, I put, I like the, there's a lot of, uh, short, like really good lines. Yep, yep. I have two, but I'll, I'll share one. And if you have another one, you can go, um, nice Face Potter. Yeah.
[00:29:51] Hunter Hill: That, that scene is, is I think kind of makes Malfoy, it's like, okay, Malfoy is like playing ball now.
[00:30:00] He's a bad dude. He's not just a little. Ws that's running home to his father. Now
[00:30:04] Daniel Matthews: I have a nitpick about this scene though. We'll get into it later. Okay. I like, okay. To me it's a huge pothole.
[00:30:11] Hunter Hill: Like, okay,
[00:30:13] Daniel Matthews: massive pothole.
[00:30:14] Hunter Hill: Okay. Anyways, we talk about it anyways about it when
[00:30:15] Daniel Matthews: we
[00:30:15] Hunter Hill: get to it. You got another one?
Uh, it's less of a line and more of a moment right after Harry takes Felix and he's like, I just really feel like Haggard's is the place to be. And he turns around and he walks out and there's two people coming in and he is just like, hi. Yeah. He says it. So like animated. Yeah. And you're like, okay. I, I feel like, and then he, well, at the AOGs funeral, where did, uh.
Was it Haggard? That was that said, oh, it's the eyes that get people, I reckon. Or was that Slowhorn? I can't remember. Yeah. And then here he goes that in the, in the pincers. Yeah. Dude, he is
[00:30:53] Daniel Matthews: on one, on this one
[00:30:54] Hunter Hill: that like, I, I was watching it, I was like, I wonder if Daniel Radcliffe like really enjoyed [00:31:00] filming that scene because he was able to just kind of like be a different person.
[00:31:06] Daniel Matthews: Yeah, dude.
[00:31:07] Hunter Hill: Because from here on like, Harry has to be this like moody, intense, like, we gotta get the job done. Yeah. Like the fate of the world. Like kinda like a little bit like Frodo not, not a hundred percent parallel, but in that sense of like, this is my task now. Yep. Is this the goofiest film? Like I think it is.
It might be like that scene alone. It might be because the earlier like. Movies one and two.
[00:31:33] Daniel Matthews: They're not good enough actors to be goofy.
[00:31:34] Hunter Hill: Yeah, they're not. And they're young and so it's like, oh, they're just young. Yeah,
[00:31:38] Daniel Matthews: yeah. You
[00:31:38] Hunter Hill: know, they're, yeah, you're right. They're not good enough to be like, witty way.
God, blood fire is not
[00:31:43] Daniel Matthews: goofy. No prisoners', not goofy order's. Not goofy. No. This one's like, I think, I think think you're right's funny,
[00:31:49] Hunter Hill: like nice
[00:31:50] Daniel Matthews: skin.
[00:31:51] Hunter Hill: Yeah. And as far as skin goes and the pinch it, yeah. Like there's, there really is a lot of one-liners that you could, you could just like in [00:32:00] conversation use.
That would be pretty funny.
[00:32:01] Daniel Matthews: So I, I have my next one now that we're talking about funny lines. It's, uh, in the three Broom sticks with Slughorn. He's like, invites Ron and her herm or uh, Harry in herm mind, just like he looks at Ron and goes, nice to see you. Wallaby wall. Good to see you. Wallaby
[00:32:16] Hunter Hill: never, never knows Ron's name, but he
[00:32:19] Daniel Matthews: knows Ginny's last name.
That's funny. Like he's like, Mrs. Weasley. 'cause that's when he is like, just in time for dessert. That is in Be's left jury. Yeah. Yeah. Like has that little smirk on his face. That's so funny. Oh man. You got any other lines or, I mean, you gave two. Yeah, that was it. That's what I got. Okay. All right. You maybe you hinted at this segment earlier.
I don't, I'm not sure. Okay. Are useful and we're horrible at this. But a non-useful spell. We'll try it for this film.
[00:32:46] Hunter Hill: We'll try it. Um, the non-US useful one, I'll start off since I already alluded to it. This is probably my best non useful one. It's called Shenanigans Douglas. [00:33:00] And it allows you to duplicate any item from Wesley's Wizard Wheezes.
That's it. It's just the joke shop. Yeah. It's like you buy one, it's basically a buy one get one free. You get one. It's a bogo. Yeah, it's a bogo. Okay. Um, not that and which is why if you get the, what they call it, Peruvian darkness powder, whatever. Yeah. You buy one, you get two.
[00:33:22] Daniel Matthews: Can you perform the spell real quick?
How you would, you know, with the wand?
[00:33:27] Hunter Hill: Well, it would be,
[00:33:27] Daniel Matthews: can you give a visual right here please? It would have to
[00:33:29] Hunter Hill: be discreet, that's the thing. Is it
[00:33:31] Daniel Matthews: by your waist? You're just like the wrist. Yeah. It would
[00:33:33] Hunter Hill: be a very discreet,
[00:33:34] Daniel Matthews: interesting.
[00:33:35] Hunter Hill: So, well, I guess you buy it. I guess it doesn't have to be. 'cause you could buy it and leave.
Yeah. And then boom, you, can you double that actually make the most sense. Can I, if you get two, you be like, I get that far.
[00:33:50] Daniel Matthews: Four, eight. So you never run out or just like, you're just, you get on double. I was thinking it
[00:33:55] Hunter Hill: was just like, it just stops at bogo, but I don't, I, I [00:34:00] truthfully didn't get that far. Hey, fair,
[00:34:03] Daniel Matthews: fair.
Dude, that's actually, I think that's what's funny about the magic world. It's like they only go like one step.
[00:34:08] Hunter Hill: Yeah. It's like,
[00:34:09] Daniel Matthews: but there's a lot of like really basic things like what do you, what about this? Yeah. Like what, what? Okay. Yeah. Anyways. All right. I like that one. Mm-hmm. That's your non-US useful, non-US.
Useful. I'll, I'll give my non useful as well. That's good. It's called giggles. Giggles. Okay. Giggles. And it puts a person in a, he he laugh, laughing mood. And you know what that is? He, he like a little kid that he, and, and no matter who it is, you just, it's only for like 10 seconds. Yeah, yeah. But you just say giggles and like Snape could be in like a, he,
[00:34:41] Hunter Hill: he just turns into it would be, it would be a really big, that's kind funny.
Disarming one, like
[00:34:45] Daniel Matthews: you're in dual with like Baltimore and you're like giggles. He's like, what? His laugh would be like, well, I guess he has that really weird laugh in the seventh film. Yeah. I forgot about that. Yeah, I forgot. Yeah. I just think that there's [00:35:00] a lot of funny stuff in this film and Yeah. I'd want, I honestly might do it to myself.
Yeah. I wanna be in a he he laugh man. You're just like,
[00:35:06] Hunter Hill: man, I'm just kind of having a tough day.
[00:35:08] Daniel Matthews: He,
[00:35:08] Hunter Hill: he, he,
[00:35:09] Daniel Matthews: yeah. You just start laughing. Yeah. Alright. You useful?
[00:35:12] Hunter Hill: Useful. Okay. One of your spells from the first or second. You stealing it? I didn't steal it. It just, I just, I just modified it. It's called Alito sle.
[00:35:27] Daniel Matthews: Alito
[00:35:27] Hunter Hill: sle. It forces everyone's sleeves to roll up. I like it. And it'd be good because with Malfoy you could tell dude's a death theater just walking around Hogwarts. Yep. But if you, if you, he's always in long sleeves. If you hit it in the, in the great hall, boom. Okay. Now we know at the beginning of the film, he's a death eat.
It's
[00:35:43] Daniel Matthews: a great dude. I'm telling you. Why don't they have these? Well, I don't, the first one I know that it lifted off any, any item that was on someone's head. Yeah. Yeah. Even their
[00:35:51] Hunter Hill: hair. That's literally what I thought about.
[00:35:53] Daniel Matthews: And it's like, oh, okay. This one feels more realistic.
[00:35:56] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[00:35:57] Daniel Matthews: And you could like be, it goes really quick, but like you could maybe [00:36:00] hide it.
Like if someone did it, he could be like,
[00:36:01] Hunter Hill: yeah.
[00:36:02] Daniel Matthews: You know, but you start doing it all the time.
[00:36:05] Hunter Hill: Well, 'cause Harry running her mind name. Harry's like Malfoy Iss a death eater.
[00:36:09] Daniel Matthews: Yeah.
[00:36:09] Hunter Hill: And Ron's like, no, there's no way.
[00:36:13] Daniel Matthews: Yeah. Okay. Here's what's wild. Harry has some wild, like crazy takes. Mm-hmm Throughout the films.
He always has these like theories, you know, he's spot on and they're like, and it doesn't even seem that far off from his other ones. Yeah. And they're like, you're an idiot. That's a wrong. Yeah. I'm like, that's not farfetched shit. I dunno. Say the Draco kind of makes sense. A death eater kind of makes sense that he would be that.
Yeah. Here's the chosen one.
[00:36:40] Hunter Hill: Yeah. Why would you not trust him? Come on. Which reminds me when they're in the library, but I am the chip. Yeah. And her mind is like, look, that girl over there is making a love potion for you. She's only doing it 'cause she thinks you're the chosen one. I'm Oh, I'm the chosen one.
Yeah,
[00:36:56] Daniel Matthews: she's right. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, not wrong. That's a great scene. Okay. [00:37:00] Uh, my useful one, soul, I ident. Wow. You put it on an item. Okay. You tap it and you say it and it identifies the owner. Oh. It just writes who owned it, or the last person to own it. Interesting. I mean, interesting. How is that not a spell?
You know, if you have a spell that turns a map on, shouldn't you have a spell that?
[00:37:24] Hunter Hill: Yeah, yeah. Come on. It seems pretty basic. It's super easy though to fall into the, the mindset of like, this is magic. Anything can happen. So why wouldn't they have this? Should Hunter, that's how it should be.
[00:37:37] Daniel Matthews: I mean, come on, hunter.
What are we doing?
[00:37:40] Hunter Hill: I don't know.
[00:37:42] Daniel Matthews: Whatever. Okay. Our next, uh, next segment, seamless product placement. The Converses have been on, by the way. He's wearing Converses. Yeah. They even had some closeups of Converse in this one. Converse is
[00:37:56] Hunter Hill: solid.
[00:37:56] Daniel Matthews: Uh, so if you got another one, hit me with it. [00:38:00]
[00:38:00] Hunter Hill: This is more, I don't know.
This is not seamless, but Okay.
[00:38:03] Daniel Matthews: I
[00:38:03] Hunter Hill: love it.
[00:38:04] Daniel Matthews: I love it already.
[00:38:06] Hunter Hill: I feel like with the amount of Snogging, there needs to be some like Tic-Tacs, chapstick. Probably some, some, I mean, this is a pg, pg 13, but probably needs to be some, some contraceptive products with the vibe that Which one? Which one you putting in there?
I mean, I don't know, but I'm just saying like, it just feels like the hookup culture is, is real, is just, I mean,
[00:38:31] Daniel Matthews: Harry almost hooks up with a random cafe waitress. That's true at the beginning. That's
[00:38:35] Hunter Hill: true. She's like, you can tell me about that Dodger Harry Potter. Yeah. Tell me about that. Tossa, Harry Potter Tossa.
That's what it is. Yeah. It's just like, okay. Like it, I think because they're teenagers and they're like fully teen, like what are they 16 now? Yeah. It's like, okay, everything's on the table, but it's still PG 13, so like everything's not on the table. Yeah, yeah. [00:39:00] But it does feel like, like the scene, another funny scene where they're on the train and, uh, Ron's like, my lips are, look at my lips are so cha because of her look and here's like, I, I take the word, I'll take your word for man.
Yeah, yeah. That scene was really, really funny. So, um, I mean, TAC would not be seamless. I'm trying to think of like, no, no, that's
[00:39:24] Daniel Matthews: actually a, I think a, like a, a little Bowl of Lifes, what's a really famous Chapstick, not birch bees, but like, the one it's like aor iconic. Yeah. If he, if Ron just had that on him.
Oh yeah. He is just, and at like, even at like, uh, you know, breakfast. Yeah. It's just putting it on. Seamless. Oh
[00:39:41] Hunter Hill: yeah,
[00:39:41] Daniel Matthews: for sure. Seamless. Yeah. Okay. I think I've said this sponsor four outta the five already?
[00:39:47] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[00:39:47] Daniel Matthews: I'm gonna make it five for six. Wow. Because it's, it's, it's actually getting more pronounced.
[00:39:52] Hunter Hill: Okay.
[00:39:53] Daniel Matthews: On the Gryffindor quidditch tryout jerseys, there's three stripes. There used to only be two, [00:40:00] there's three Maybe. That's just put a, a little adida dude, come on. Like, you put a little Adidas thing right there. No, no one's blinking an eye. No. You're like, yeah. They, they even look like Adidas jerseys. Yeah,
[00:40:13] Hunter Hill: they do.
[00:40:14] Daniel Matthews: Also,
[00:40:14] Hunter Hill: I forgot, I forget. Jenny was on the Quidditch team and she's like, nice. Right
[00:40:19] Daniel Matthews: dude. She's like filthy.
[00:40:20] Hunter Hill: What does she, what is her position again?
[00:40:22] Daniel Matthews: Well, she was a seeker when Harry got, 'cause they don't talk about this, this in the film. That's right. Or, yeah. But in the book, he gets like suspended for like half the season.
'cause of Umbridge? No, for um, because of Snape or something. Oh, really? Something weird happens where he is not allowed to perform or something. He has detention. Ah,
[00:40:43] Hunter Hill: okay.
[00:40:43] Daniel Matthews: Something. Oh, it was for I think, accusing Draco. And they were like, that's pretty wild for you to say that. I'm like, that's not wild.
[00:40:52] Hunter Hill: But Draco can just run around.
Yeah. Calling people mud bloods. Yeah. And it's like, oh dude, it's whatever.
[00:40:56] Daniel Matthews: Come on. It's wild. Gosh. But yeah, he's so, so, [00:41:00] uh, Jenny becomes the seeker. Maybe it is in the book. Fifth book. It's in one of those. There's, there's, you know, Ron's on the team in both of those books, so yeah, she's nice. Then she's like the equivalent of like the forward person who chaser striker or something.
Is it a chaser? Chaser? That's probably better. Yeah. She's, she's the best. She's awesome. Kind of a beast. Kind of a beast. Yeah. Okay. I have another one. Okay. Whenever, uh, Dumbledore shows up, you could have put a real fragrant. I think the divine magic fragrant, you know, in the subway. I think that's obviously, I think that's fake.
Yeah. You
[00:41:37] Hunter Hill: could have definitely put something real
[00:41:38] Daniel Matthews: you could have sold. That would've been, that would've been pretty iconic. Pretty easy. You could even have it say Divine magic, fragrant. And then at the bottom it's like, I don't know any fragrances. So
[00:41:48] Hunter Hill: yeah.
[00:41:48] Daniel Matthews: Old Jacob Bonna. Is that something?
[00:41:50] Hunter Hill: Um, sounds right.
[00:41:51] Daniel Matthews: Eve Saint Lauren LeBron. I know that's, should I keep going? Gucci? Polo. Polo. Nike, dude. [00:42:00] I dunno. You could have done that. Yeah. You could've gone away with it for sure. He probably could've. Yeah. Anymore. Uh, no, that's not good. Okay. We're moving into some, uh, recasting and man, some heavy hairs. We're really stepping them up.
Yeah,
[00:42:13] Hunter Hill: we really are,
[00:42:13] Daniel Matthews: because we've, we said it, I think this one we're recasting, obviously. Slughorn, he's a new character, but then Alan Rickman and Michael Gambon. So, Snape and Dumbledore. The next film we're recasting, uh, Rupert Gr Uhhuh and Emma Watson. It's gonna be wild. And the final one we're Recasting Voldemort and Harry.
Yeah. Which is Raffe Fines and yeah, Daniel Radcliffe. Wow. So, wow. Only heavy hitters from here. I mean, Slughorn kind of a, he's the smallest one here, but I think he has potential for a really good recast. There's a lot of, I think there's some good ones, but I
[00:42:49] Hunter Hill: have one that
[00:42:50] Daniel Matthews: I hope we have the same
[00:42:51] Hunter Hill: hit and it was immediate and I was like, well, I'm not thinking of anyone else.
Okay. Hit. I hit This Could Work. Hit Bill Murray. Dude, same. Yes. Is it not? Dude, I looks like it. [00:43:00] Exact same. Yeah, a hundred percent. Did you ever see a City of Ember? No. City of Ember? No. Did you ever read the book? Nope. I haven't even heard of that. It's, you probably would recognize the cover if you saw it.
Okay. I bet you would. Uh, but it's like a young adult, like dystopian, they like go under the world. There's like some nuclear, is it underwater? It's under underground. Like it's underground, like hundreds of feet. Okay. And they live in, you talking about
[00:43:27] Daniel Matthews: the Hunger
[00:43:27] Hunter Hill: Games? No, no, no. They live in this, the underground city and it's like held, uh, it's powered by this generator that's like about to fall apart.
'cause it was only supposed to, they're only supposed to be under there for like 25 years, but they've been under there for like a hundred years. I, I don't, I'm probably butchering the plot, but anyways, he's the mayor of the Yeah, he is the city underground. And he's just like this like, just kind of just like aloof guy that you're like really like that's the guy.
And [00:44:00] it kind of matches a little bit with Yeah.
[00:44:02] Daniel Matthews: Smores.
[00:44:03] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[00:44:03] Daniel Matthews: I think the funeral scene specifically, my gosh, with Bill in it would be really, it would be gold. Oh, it would
[00:44:09] Hunter Hill: be so funny.
[00:44:11] Daniel Matthews: It's funny. We have the exact, so funny. That's because
[00:44:13] Hunter Hill: it's perfect.
[00:44:13] Daniel Matthews: It is actually, I, I think all my people are American though.
It's all good. Which they were very keen on only recasting British people, but that's all good. That's not my problem. Problem. I'm American problem. No, we're we're, and we've already said that you've already been trashing on England. That was one episode,
[00:44:29] Hunter Hill: you were really online. I wanna, I wanna, I wanna say something to our English listeners real quick.
Um,
sometimes, sometimes you just get going and you don't realize what you're saying. So I just wanna say you're, you're with your friends, you're just Yeah. With your friends. I wanna say I appreciate all of our English listeners here. Um, I love, uh, uh, most shows that are set in England. Okay. Okay. I love most literature that I read, music that is sent in England.
Love music. You like Mumford, you like ed [00:45:00] music? Yeah, like both of them. So what I'm trying to say is that there's much about England that I appreciate. I've been one time. It was great. Would love to go again. Yeah. Um, yeah, so if you're, if you're. If you're upset, they've already clicked off.
[00:45:17] Daniel Matthews: They've, they were gone last episode.
They're not
[00:45:18] Hunter Hill: here, but for, for the few English that are here. Yeah. We appreciate you. We
[00:45:22] Daniel Matthews: do appreciate you. Yeah. Yeah. I, I, yeah. On behalf of the pod, he apologized and I'm very, very thankful. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Alan Rickman, this is a tough recasting 'cause he seems so singular in this role. Yeah. I have one that I think plays ball.
If we have the same one, I'm gonna be be, huh? Well, yeah, that'll be crazy
[00:45:41] Hunter Hill: because of the tone of the voice. No, no, no. Well, yes, because of me watching English shows. All right. His name is Jim Carter. Jim Carter. He's in Down Abbey. Okay. And he plays Carson the Butler. I like it. And he's, [00:46:00] um, the, the, the character in Down Abbey, he eventually turns into this like, you know, the, like the lovable teacher who's always just like.
Kind of, kind of a hard a but Yeah. Is actually, but actually
[00:46:12] Daniel Matthews: loves you, is on your side. Yeah. You can tell he
[00:46:14] Hunter Hill: actually like, just fiercely loves you. Yeah. That's, that's his character. And so he's got a very deep, slow voice. Yeah. That is like, just like Rickman also, I mean, Rickman is just incredible, dude.
He's so good. Like, the way he, it's not even that he talks slow, it's that every single word that he says just hits feels so intentional. Oh man. Yeah. To be the chosen mom. Like, it's just so, yes. I'm the half blood pro. It just hits every, every, every sentence he says. Even when he is talking fast, it's like he's not really
[00:46:53] Daniel Matthews: no.
Like the scene where, you know, Harry's like Draco. This did, did it in the necklace. Mm-hmm. Dude, [00:47:00] he, he just rails off like so many good lines that he just like, doesn't miss a beat. Yeah. He is severe snake.
[00:47:06] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[00:47:06] Daniel Matthews: Oh man. He's him, dude. Yeah. He's so good. So, um, I think, you know, this person in name I, you know, this guy looks like, I don't love it because I think this guy is not, I don't wanna say he's not serious enough.
He's maybe not grace gracious enough, like graceful.
[00:47:23] Hunter Hill: Okay.
[00:47:24] Daniel Matthews: John Malkovich,
[00:47:26] Hunter Hill: uh, yeah.
[00:47:27] Daniel Matthews: What is he in? He's, he's in a lot of films, but, um, oh, yes. You've seen his face? Yes. He has like a kind of like, he almost always talks like he has a cold.
[00:47:39] Hunter Hill: Yeah. What is, what is an example of a film he is in? Because
[00:47:43] Daniel Matthews: now I'm blanking.
Uh, but I've seen a lot of films with him. He's, yeah, he's really good. I know, I know who you're
[00:47:48] Hunter Hill: talking about.
[00:47:49] Daniel Matthews: I just wanna, but he has the same octave. I
[00:47:50] Hunter Hill: just wanna
[00:47:51] Daniel Matthews: land. Yeah, you're right. He's like, he's kind of nasally and mean. Yeah. You're like, I don't know. This guy's [00:48:00] motivations. There's something off.
He's good. He, he, I think he could play him.
[00:48:03] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[00:48:03] Daniel Matthews: That's, that's a really good, he might be a little too animated though. Like Alan Rman can be like in a full scene and like barely move. Yeah. Like the hospital scene. Yeah. He doesn't really do much. He's really good. Let's see. I think Malkovich. Yeah, there's, I wanna What are some films with him?
I've seen him in so many, I just can't think of one.
[00:48:24] Hunter Hill: Let's see. He's in Billions, the TV show. Okay. Um, he's in a lot of things. I'm trying to think of one that is, he was in Space Force. Yeah, he was, he was in the movie Arkansas.
[00:48:41] Daniel Matthews: Interesting. Didn't see that.
[00:48:43] Hunter Hill: Um, bird Box. Okay. I dunno if you remember that one any more,
[00:48:47] Daniel Matthews: any further back, because I, yeah, there are,
[00:48:49] Hunter Hill: I, I'm trying to, there's gonna be one that's gonna hit and I'm gonna be like, yes.
Uh, he was in Deep Water Horizon. Mm-hmm.[00:49:00]
What is the one I feel like
[00:49:02] Daniel Matthews: no, he wasn't in that one. He was in Transformers. Okay. He was, yes, I knew it. That's what I was about. Say, I'm pretty sure he is in Transformers. Yeah,
[00:49:10] Hunter Hill: he's in Secretariat.
[00:49:11] Daniel Matthews: Yep.
[00:49:12] Hunter Hill: Um, Aragon.
[00:49:15] Daniel Matthews: Oh yeah, he's in Bing. John Malkovich the film. Yeah. So pretty awesome. Yeah. That's
[00:49:22] Hunter Hill: pretty sick.
Uh, yeah. He's good. In Miz or he was in a TV version of Miz. Yeah. Anyways. Okay.
[00:49:31] Daniel Matthews: Yeah. Malcolm. Good Mag. Okay. Al Dumbo. I have two.
[00:49:38] Hunter Hill: You go first. I'm gonna be honest, man. I took the easy way out on this one.
[00:49:42] Daniel Matthews: Oh, wait, wait, wait. What do you mean? Did you pick the guy who just got recast? I soon, no, I picked, uh, no, stop.
What do you think I picked? I think you picked Gary Oldman. No, I didn't. David Thula? No. You picked an existing, uh, [00:50:00] you picked, uh, Gandalf, didn't you? I did. Yeah. Yeah. That's, you can't, you can't even McKellan.
[00:50:06] Hunter Hill: I mean, wasn't he asked, wasn't he asked to be a Dior? Probably was. Isn't there interviews of him talking about turning into
[00:50:16] Daniel Matthews: I actually can't see.
I I, obviously you can, I can't see him playing that though. Like, yeah, he would be great, but I just, I can only see him as Gandalf.
[00:50:26] Hunter Hill: I, I understand that. I, I I hate you now. I'm, I hate you right now. I mean, I can't believe you said that it's a different world, but he's already used to being the most powerful wizard in a world.
I hate. I hate you right now. I just, I
[00:50:42] Daniel Matthews: am mad that you did
[00:50:43] Hunter Hill: that. I, it is what it is.
[00:50:46] Daniel Matthews: Whatever dude,
[00:50:46] Hunter Hill: we are where we are because we did what we
[00:50:47] Daniel Matthews: did. Okay. So I'm gonna, I'm gonna give two options, okay? Okay. Okay. And I've actually said one of these guys before.
[00:50:54] Hunter Hill: Okay.
[00:50:55] Daniel Matthews: As a re, I think I recast them as Hagrid. Oh, okay.
So I have to give an asterisk.
[00:50:59] Hunter Hill: [00:51:00] Okay. Because
[00:51:00] Daniel Matthews: I think he's a pretty flexible actor.
[00:51:02] Hunter Hill: Okay.
[00:51:03] Daniel Matthews: So the Michael Gamon gets recast in the third film.
[00:51:07] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[00:51:08] Daniel Matthews: Which is the weirdest film. It's Alfonso Kiran is the director. Yeah. And it feels different. Yeah. Right. Yeah.
[00:51:13] Hunter Hill: Definitely darker.
[00:51:14] Daniel Matthews: It's definitely darker. I think he's, I think he's from Spain, Alfonso, Kira, I think.
Okay. I think this actor is also Spanish. Alfred Molina doc in Spider-Man two.
[00:51:28] Hunter Hill: Okay.
[00:51:29] Daniel Matthews: I think he'd play a good double door. Interesting. If he was recast. If they're recasting that film.
[00:51:32] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[00:51:33] Daniel Matthews: He's a little bit chubbier. He would have to be aged up a little bit. Okay. And giving gray hair. But I think he could kind of have the whimsy
[00:51:41] Hunter Hill: Okay.
[00:51:41] Daniel Matthews: That, uh, Dumbledore has. And then my American version would maybe be a little too loopy. Okay. And it'd be tough to maybe see him as like, no, that's not true. I'll just say it. Jeff Bridges.
[00:51:57] Hunter Hill: Okay. I like Jeff Bridges. I like
[00:51:59] Daniel Matthews: Jeff [00:52:00] Bridges. Yeah. He's funny. But he could also be like, don't mess with this dude.
Yeah. Like an Iron Man. He's the villain. Yeah. I think he would sound too much like the dude though. He'd be like, Hey man. Like, he'd just be a little too. Yeah, he's,
[00:52:11] Hunter Hill: he's definitely a country guy.
[00:52:14] Daniel Matthews: Yeah. He doesn't feel British at all. No, no, no, no, no. It's the opposite of British, so. Yeah. It's the American remake.
Yeah. He'd be, he'd be good though. I, I like drift bridges. That's not bad. Yeah.
[00:52:24] Hunter Hill: Uh, fun fact. I dunno. You've seen Fantastic Mr. Fox.
[00:52:28] Daniel Matthews: Yes.
[00:52:29] Hunter Hill: Michael Gambon is Bean. Really the farmer, uh, the Apple Farmer Fox. Love it. It's because I was like, you're like, this sounds familiar. Yeah. He's like, so Fox problems and you're like, oh my gosh.
It all makes sense. I watched a movie probably, I don't know, a month or two ago. Yeah. And it's just a goofy time.
[00:52:53] Daniel Matthews: He's like, it, it's easy for me to forget that all the actors in her in here were really [00:53:00] accomplished actors before this. Yeah. Yeah. Like none of the main ones got like their recognition from this film.
Yeah. They're obviously great in this film. Yeah. But they were already like elite. They're already in, I mean in Allen Rickman was awesome. Yeah. Maggie Smith was awesome. Oh my gosh. Yeah. The kids, that's different. But like Robbie Coltrane, he was already like elite. Yeah. It's like, okay. They were already doing, they were already doing their thing.
Yeah. Yeah. Totally. But I remember him for this. Oh, a hundred whatever percent. Okay. What does the first day. After this movie looked like,
[00:53:31] Hunter Hill: okay, I'm gonna say this is the most depressing first day after the movie. So far. Interesting. Because like gone Depends on the perspective. I mean, yes, but like in the like immediate what's right in front of 'em.
One, they're up at the astronomy tower, which I was like, man, don't go back there. First off, what the heck? Don't do that. Second off, Dumbledore is gone. Like, I feel like there's always been this like underlying trust that like, hey, we're not actually the [00:54:00] main player in this fight. Like Dumbledore is, is still, is still like the top guy.
[00:54:06] Daniel Matthews: He's the general Yeah. He's
[00:54:07] Hunter Hill: out
[00:54:07] Daniel Matthews: there
[00:54:07] Hunter Hill: and now he is gone. Yeah. And so like they're talking up there on the, on the tower, like, we're not coming back here. Like, we're going out and we're hunting horse cruxes and that's what we're gonna do.
[00:54:19] Daniel Matthews: Yeah.
[00:54:20] Hunter Hill: And so it's the most depressing because they're at Hogwarts and they're thinking we're not coming back.
[00:54:26] Daniel Matthews: Mm.
[00:54:28] Hunter Hill: You know,
[00:54:29] Daniel Matthews: it is the saddest thing. So it's
[00:54:30] Hunter Hill: like there's a, there's some finality in the sense that like, dumble door's gone, but also finality of like, we're not coming back.
[00:54:35] Daniel Matthews: That's gotta be the saddest train ride home. Oh my
[00:54:38] Hunter Hill: goodness.
[00:54:38] Daniel Matthews: Can you imagine? I, I mean, no, it would be probably a good reason they didn't show it.
It'd just be them like in the train car, just like,
[00:54:46] Hunter Hill: yeah, you're like, and they, they had to like leave it on a note of, oh, there's still some hope have to. Which I mean there is, but this feels the most hopeless in my opinion. Yeah. I dunno. So[00:55:00]
[00:55:02] Daniel Matthews: you said it's the most depressing? Yeah. Depends on the perspective. Okay.
[00:55:05] Hunter Hill: What's your perspective? I
[00:55:06] Daniel Matthews: just, this is what I wrote. Okay. Baltimore is, is throwing a rager. He's so happy about Snape and I don't think, I don't think Voldemort parties, but I think he's partying. I think he's like so happy and, yeah.
Like, you know, Harry's getting scars just like on fire. Yeah. And they might be, I don't, I mean, throwing it down. They're throwing it down. Yeah. At the Malfoy Mansion, bro. Oh. They're having a freaking party. Death theaters are coming over. Like Yeah. Double door's dead. Like the main dude that, yeah. No one would admit it.
Baltimore wouldn't admit it, but he was scared. He was scared to dumb door. Oh yeah.
[00:55:48] Hunter Hill: He didn't, he didn't like him.
[00:55:48] Daniel Matthews: Now it's like, dude,
[00:55:50] Hunter Hill: yeah,
[00:55:51] Daniel Matthews: we're like going. And
[00:55:52] Hunter Hill: he thinks that Snape is on his side now. Yeah. And it doesn't, the bug do a really good job of like [00:56:00] showing dialogue between Snape and Dumble Door to where, or maybe this is later.
[00:56:05] Daniel Matthews: It's later. Okay. The flash. It's in the flashback. Oh, okay, okay. Because you don't know at this point. You're like, yeah. Snap's the worst. Yeah.
[00:56:11] Hunter Hill: Okay. Yeah. Um, and you can feel that when they're up in the tower. Oh yeah. It's like,
[00:56:16] Daniel Matthews: it was always
[00:56:16] Hunter Hill: Snape. It's always Snape in the end it was Snape. It was always gonna be him.
It was always snape
[00:56:20] Daniel Matthews: it. The, the rage though. Reminds me of the sacrifice scene in Lion Witch in the wardrobe. Oh yeah. There's no, there's no ads land. No. I mean, donor's already dead. They don't have his body. No, no, but that's what that rager looks like. Yeah. It's like weird. It's always dark and there's random fires lit and yeah.
Not a fun party.
[00:56:40] Hunter Hill: No, no. Kind of a rage, right, though, Ray
[00:56:42] Daniel Matthews: atmosphere. Yeah.
[00:56:44] Hunter Hill: I think you're right. Everyone's
[00:56:44] Daniel Matthews: shooting like killing curses everywhere. Like, ha ha. You know? You just firing 'em off. Yeah, I, yeah, that's what I think. Yeah, I
[00:56:50] Hunter Hill: think, I think, I think there's something to there, and Drake was kind of
[00:56:52] Daniel Matthews: in the corner like, didn't really accomplish my mission.
I'm, but I'm
[00:56:55] Hunter Hill: not dead. I'm not dead. But I didn't do it, so [00:57:00] therefore I should be dead. I should be dead. But I'm at this rager also.
[00:57:03] Daniel Matthews: It's weird. I disarmed him. I wonder if that'll come back around.
[00:57:07] Hunter Hill: Yeah,
[00:57:08] Daniel Matthews: it is wild. The, I get it. It's the main character. But like Harry Disarming or Draco disarming. Dumbledore made the elder one loyal to Draco.
Harry Disarming Draco Uhhuh made the elder wand loyal to Harry. Did you know that?
[00:57:31] Hunter Hill: That sounds familiar.
[00:57:32] Daniel Matthews: I They talk about it in the last film.
[00:57:34] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[00:57:35] Daniel Matthews: And so it's like funny 'cause Voldemort's trying to kill Harry Uhhuh, but it's, it, he can't, it's loyal. The wand is literally loyal to him, and I don't think you can kill a wizard with their own wand.
[00:57:47] Hunter Hill: Wow. Okay. I think that makes sense. I thought it wasn't disarming, I thought it was killing. No. 'cause like I, no, 'cause Snape doesn't, the, the wand belongs to Snape now.
[00:57:59] Daniel Matthews: No, no, no. [00:58:00] See, that's what Voldemort thinks. That's why he kills Snape. Oh.
[00:58:03] Hunter Hill: But it doesn't, it never actually belonged to Snake. But
[00:58:05] Daniel Matthews: he didn't disarm him.
Oh, Draco. It's so small. You're right. Draco disarmed him. You're right on the astronomy tower. But Vmo probably just assumed like, oh yeah. Snake disarmed him.
[00:58:16] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[00:58:16] Daniel Matthews: When he killed him. Yeah.
[00:58:18] Hunter Hill: He didn't,
[00:58:18] Daniel Matthews: small detail. Wow. Huge implications,
[00:58:20] Hunter Hill: which. Do you think Dumbledore knew that?
[00:58:23] Daniel Matthews: He probably was like, that's a happy accident.
[00:58:25] Hunter Hill: I mean, well, he's probably like, oh, that's go in the movie. Like it looks like he wants him to do it almost.
[00:58:31] Daniel Matthews: It really does, actually. So, I mean, Dumbo is brilliant. I mean, yeah, he probably knows.
[00:58:35] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[00:58:35] Daniel Matthews: But it, it's crazy 'cause the whole sixth film, or sixth seventh book so far is like, Voldemort is going and trying to find the wand and Harry's having these visions of him.
Yep. And you're like, dude, it's actually pointless. Harry knows that. No, no, no. But in hindsight it's like, oh yeah, yeah. It doesn't matter if you find it, it Yeah. Like it's gonna belong to Harry. That's wild. It's crazy. He hadn't disarmed Draco yet. [00:59:00] Draco
[00:59:00] Hunter Hill: with the
[00:59:01] Daniel Matthews: wand in the seventh of where I'm reading right now.
So he disarms him in the, at the end of the first part
[00:59:06] Hunter Hill: with when Draco has the wand or just when Draco, I think
[00:59:09] Daniel Matthews: he just disarms him. Okay. Just in general. And, and they're kind of vague about it, but like Yeah. Just by disarming him. He gets allegiance. I do. You know what? We're fans, not experts. Hey, we're fans, not experts.
This is what they explain. We'll
[00:59:21] Hunter Hill: talk about it
[00:59:22] Daniel Matthews: here. Explains it At the end of the eighth movie.
[00:59:24] Hunter Hill: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:59:25] Daniel Matthews: And that's what it sounds like is Yeah. He disarmed Draco. Who? Disarmed Dumbledore. Yeah. So the won was always his crazy. It is crazy. Crazy. It is crazy. Okay. Um, is that all the, did you, you didn't say, oh no, you, Ian McKellen you.
It is what it is. We already did that. We already passed that one. Okay. What's the biggest life lesson you take from this film?
[00:59:47] Hunter Hill: Okay. Uh, I have three Friendship and bravery, obviously. Yeah,
[00:59:51] Daniel Matthews: yeah,
[00:59:52] Hunter Hill: yeah. Um, serious one. This is a country music lyric. You're not, this is your serious
[00:59:57] Daniel Matthews: one. Yeah.
[00:59:58] Hunter Hill: You're not living unless you're willing [01:00:00] to do some dying along the way.
Whoa. Hey, looking at double door, he was willing to risk it all for the good for probably
[01:00:08] Daniel Matthews: knew he was gonna die in the end.
[01:00:09] Hunter Hill: Yeah. Um, yeah. And then sometimes you need to get your lips cha by lavender to learn. You need a Hermione instead.
Oh my God. Am I right? I'm,
[01:00:23] Daniel Matthews: uh, here's the thing. That's the greatest lesson taken from this series so far, I feel, and that can be applied across a lot of things. Oh yes. You need your lips chapped by a lavender sometimes
[01:00:33] Hunter Hill: to find, sometimes lavender needs to chop your lips. Real good.
[01:00:36] Daniel Matthews: Oh my gosh.
[01:00:37] Hunter Hill: Real good.
Okay. To realize that I actually think I need Hermione instead. And she was there all along right in front of you. That's
[01:00:48] Daniel Matthews: really good. That's very good.
[01:00:49] Hunter Hill: Just saying.
[01:00:50] Daniel Matthews: Okay. You a third, you have
[01:00:53] Hunter Hill: friendship in bravery.
[01:00:54] Daniel Matthews: Oh, that was your, okay. Okay. Fair enough. Yeah, those are both really good. I didn't do, do a non-serious.
[01:00:59] Hunter Hill: Okay. [01:01:00]
[01:01:00] Daniel Matthews: And maybe this one is non-serious. I'm not sure.
[01:01:02] Hunter Hill: Okay.
[01:01:02] Daniel Matthews: You'll never regret going to a funeral of someone or something you once knew.
[01:01:08] Hunter Hill: Hmm. You're, you're bound to learn. And I
[01:01:10] Daniel Matthews: think, here's the thing. I think my first thought is, well, no, there's some funerals I would regret going to. It's like, no, you're sad that they're not with you.
[01:01:18] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[01:01:18] Daniel Matthews: But you would not, you would personally
[01:01:22] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[01:01:22] Daniel Matthews: I'd be upset if I didn't go to the funeral. Okay. I want some closure because I have actually, yeah. Whenever I was younger, my mom's mother died, and it was during the school year. Okay. And my mom, we, I mean, we were pretty, I was probably in like second grade.
Mm-hmm. But she didn't, uh, she didn't want us to go to the funeral or like, we didn't, we just didn't go. None of the kids went. Mm-hmm. Her and my dad went. Mm-hmm. And she regrets it. And now in hindsight, I'm like, yeah, I do regret. Yeah.
[01:01:53] Hunter Hill: That would've been like,
[01:01:54] Daniel Matthews: that would've been, that's my grandma.
[01:01:55] Hunter Hill: It would've been a lot as a second grader was, would've been, I travel, travel to New Orleans,
[01:01:58] Daniel Matthews: but like during school and [01:02:00] missed some school.
Who, guy who cares. That would've been awesome. Like, so it would've been awesome, you know, but you know what I mean? It would've been
[01:02:05] Hunter Hill: an experience.
[01:02:06] Daniel Matthews: It would. Yeah. So I'm like, I regret that. Yeah. But I wouldn't have regret it if I would've gone.
[01:02:10] Hunter Hill: Yeah, totally. That's not bad. That's not bad. It's
[01:02:14] Daniel Matthews: something Or someone you once knew.
It's not just random funerals. Yeah. That's random funeral. Yeah. But someone that you brush shoulders with on this earth Yeah. It it, you're not gonna regret going to their funeral.
[01:02:22] Hunter Hill: That's a good, that's a, that's a good take. That's a great take actually. Yeah. Okay. Okay.
[01:02:27] Daniel Matthews: Award section Hunter. Seventh inning, baby.
We're coming down to the ninth. All right. Nitpicks pet peeves. We've hinted at it what you got.
[01:02:36] Hunter Hill: So this is where I feel like being a fan and not an expert is really gonna show. Okay. Okay. And I'm just, I'm just gonna say it. I don't feel like the significance of snake being the half-blood prints that subplot is explained enough.
[01:02:52] Daniel Matthews: I also think it's not that significant.
[01:02:53] Hunter Hill: Okay. So like, I was almost a little bit afraid to say that because it's like, why does it matter?
[01:02:59] Daniel Matthews: It doesn't, [01:03:00] he could have just betrayed them and not been the half-blood princes.
[01:03:06] Hunter Hill: Yeah. So like why? Yeah. Is it, is it, is it only just to add like some complexity?
[01:03:12] Daniel Matthews: I think everyone, every single film has to have like this, um, mystery.
[01:03:18] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[01:03:18] Daniel Matthews: Mysterious something.
[01:03:19] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[01:03:20] Daniel Matthews: And they, she didn't have one. She's like, well, Snap's gonna kill Dumbo in the end. Yeah. What if I made a, a part of Snake Mysterious? But they don't know it's him.
[01:03:29] Hunter Hill: Yeah,
[01:03:30] Daniel Matthews: yeah. You're right though.
[01:03:32] Hunter Hill: But I mean, and, but here I get it in the sense that you need the, the potions book in order.
Do you need it in order to get Felix Ah, yeah. In order to get the memory from Slughorn where they learn about hor cruxes,
[01:03:46] Daniel Matthews: which apparently Dumble already knew a lot about it, but
[01:03:50] Hunter Hill: he
[01:03:50] Daniel Matthews: made it seem like he didn't, he needed to know that he split it into seven. Okay. Yeah. Which I'm like, he's brilliant. He could've probably guessed.
Yeah. It just [01:04:00] didn't, honestly, the getting the Slughorn dream. Didn't seem that relevant to me. He's like, this is the most important dream ever. I'm like, well, you already know what hor like. Yeah. Her, I mean, Hermione finds a book later. Yeah. About hor Cruxes. You tell me Dumbledore didn't know about it.
[01:04:16] Hunter Hill: Well, and maybe we're wrong in that.
Maybe we think Dumbledore knew too much. What do you
[01:04:23] Daniel Matthews: mean?
[01:04:23] Hunter Hill: Like maybe he didn't know as much about Hor Cruxes. Like he knew what they were, but he didn't know.
[01:04:29] Daniel Matthews: Oh, we think he know. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, we're giving him a little too much credit in that area. Yeah. He's like, I actually don't know,
[01:04:34] Hunter Hill: because after, after they watched that memory, he looks like genuinely taken aback.
Yeah. But, but, but okay. But at the same time, Harry is like, this is where you've been going, isn't it? You've been hunting Crues. So he already knew. He does. But he needed to know. Already knew the number,
[01:04:51] Daniel Matthews: but okay. What if it like, so I think you're right, the number If he had suspicions. Yeah. But this confirmed, he was like, yeah, I bet that's right.
Okay. Confirmed. I bet that's right. That [01:05:00] makes. That makes more sense. Yeah. But still the half blueprints thing is, it feels a little bit not significant,
[01:05:08] Hunter Hill: but maybe again, I go back, maybe JK is just really freaking good at this, in that it's a, it's almost a little bit, it's, it's important, but it's almost a little bit of a red herring and that it keeps you engaged.
Yep. Until like she needed something to get from the ministry of ma, the battle at the Ministry of Magic to the seventh. To the seventh where their hunting horcrux is
[01:05:36] Daniel Matthews: and dumb door has to die. Yeah. Who's gonna do it?
[01:05:39] Hunter Hill: Yeah. How are we gonna,
[01:05:40] Daniel Matthews: you have to build up the character. He's gonna do it without saying like, it's snape.
[01:05:44] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[01:05:46] Daniel Matthews: Maybe
[01:05:46] Hunter Hill: it does. Like, I mean, I'm not saying it's not important. Don't get me
[01:05:49] Daniel Matthews: wrong. It's cool concept.
[01:05:50] Hunter Hill: Yeah. Like the name is sick. I'm not saying it doesn't need to be in there.
[01:05:54] Daniel Matthews: Yeah.
[01:05:54] Hunter Hill: It just feels like a little bit. Like taking the scenic root a [01:06:00] little bit. Agreed. Instead of just, it definitely felt,
[01:06:02] Daniel Matthews: which I think a lot of people have said that this feels like a filler movie.
Yeah. That like, almost like a filler episode. I that, and I'm like, the thing is, I really like it though. It's so good. Yeah. It's really, it's so good. It fits a filler dude. They should have more fillers. Yeah.
[01:06:17] Hunter Hill: Like this. But like, I felt that way about the third one.
[01:06:20] Daniel Matthews: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And, and well, hey, we talked about it.
She's working in like couples. Yeah, yeah,
[01:06:26] Hunter Hill: yeah.
[01:06:27] Daniel Matthews: So this would be the equivalent of the third one. Yeah. Which kind of makes like
[01:06:31] Hunter Hill: Yeah,
[01:06:32] Daniel Matthews: makes sense. You're preparing for the big reveal, the big number seven. And by filler, it's like you still get a lot of
[01:06:38] Hunter Hill: plot development, but it's not like this big climactic.
Yeah. Like, I mean, snake killing double doors is a cli, but I know what you mean. But it's not like this battle of good and evil. Mm-hmm. At the end of the movie situation, it's this just. In this case, it's just this bad thing. Yeah. That happens. Yeah. Interesting.
[01:06:59] Daniel Matthews: I [01:07:00] would, uh, yeah, that's a very real nitpick. I put, dude, Drake was on a secret mission from Lord Baltimore.
[01:07:09] Hunter Hill: Okay.
[01:07:09] Daniel Matthews: He has to be secret.
[01:07:11] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[01:07:12] Daniel Matthews: You're telling me he doesn't take the invisibility cloak. Get outta here. Yeah,
[01:07:17] Hunter Hill: yeah, yeah.
[01:07:17] Daniel Matthews: He knows the significance of those. Those are, those are rare. He knows Harry has one. Yeah. He obviously detects is like, oh, that's Harry. Like, you know, you're telling me he's not keeping that thing for a mission.
And also Harry doesn't even use it the rest of the movie. Yeah. Next time he uses it is, uh, and it's not even in the movie. He takes it in the cave with Dumbledore.
[01:07:39] Hunter Hill: Oh really?
[01:07:40] Daniel Matthews: And then he has it on the astronomy tower in the mo in the book. Oh, okay. This in the book. Yeah, sorry. Like he's hidden and he's, you know, in the invisibility cloak in the book.
He never used it in the movie ever again. I'm like, bro. Yeah.
[01:07:53] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[01:07:55] Daniel Matthews: He doesn't need crab and goyle, like as a watch [01:08:00] out, which is in the book again, give Draco the freaking in visibility cloak, and somehow Harry would get it back. I don't know, like on the astronomy tower, he gets it back.
[01:08:09] Hunter Hill: Yeah. The, the idea that Drake's like, I'm just gonna send you back to London, is like, okay.
I don't,
[01:08:17] Daniel Matthews: he wouldn't do that.
[01:08:18] Hunter Hill: Yeah. Like, I don't know why you wouldn't take Well, but then I don't know if Draco's like, oh, Harry Potter was beat up on the train, but then he would be found out anyways, whether it was here or, and he'd London, he'd be sent back
[01:08:30] Daniel Matthews: to Hogwarts.
[01:08:31] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[01:08:32] Daniel Matthews: He should have taken the cloak.
It doesn't make any sense.
[01:08:34] Hunter Hill: Yeah. It also makes so much sense that Luna is the one that finds him, of course, with her glasses. Yeah. Talking about rack spurts and Yeah. Yeah. Whatnot.
[01:08:43] Daniel Matthews: Um, funny anymore? Nope. I have one more, and now that I, I wrote it down. I realize that maybe it's stupid, but when the burrow gets destroyed, okay.
Can't they just repair it with magic? Or is it like a, it's a certain type of fire that you can't just like repair. It's a [01:09:00] dark magic. Like what? I mean, why are we so mad? You can do repair. Oh, and it, it would or maybe not.
[01:09:08] Hunter Hill: I feel like fire has a different
[01:09:12] Daniel Matthews: feel in the wizarding world. Maybe it's a, it's like a more intense fire or something.
I don't know.
[01:09:18] Hunter Hill: Yeah, because like, I think I even think back to uh, I mean this is the first movie, right? Where a quarrel is jinxy in the broom and Hermione sets snapes cloak on fire. Like all of the adults, like the teachers, the faculty is up there. They're freaking out. They're freaking out and they're not doing, they're not like, they're not doing magic.
They're not doing magic. They're just like stomping.
[01:09:45] Daniel Matthews: Yeah. Maybe they don't have, yeah, that's just, I dunno.
[01:09:47] Hunter Hill: That's actually, that also feels a little bit unanswerable.
[01:09:51] Daniel Matthews: Why does fire have such a control for the wizarding world?
[01:09:55] Hunter Hill: I don't know. I know
[01:09:56] Daniel Matthews: they haven't figured it out. They can travel through it. Yeah.
But they don't know how to stop it. [01:10:00]
[01:10:00] Hunter Hill: Dumbledore can, can light up a cave. I'll tell you what,
[01:10:05] Daniel Matthews: when was the last time you lit up a cave?
[01:10:10] Hunter Hill: It's been a while. I would like to say that I've lit up a lot of rooms. Yeah. But maybe not a lot of cases. I dunno. That's fair. Yeah.
[01:10:17] Daniel Matthews: That's fair. Okay, now we're getting into the awards. Okay. The restriction section award for Deep Lo about this film.
[01:10:25] Hunter Hill: Okay.
[01:10:26] Daniel Matthews: I feel like I
[01:10:27] Hunter Hill: got
[01:10:27] Daniel Matthews: three
[01:10:28] Hunter Hill: pretty good ones. Three killers?
Yeah. Okay. Do you want 'em all at once or should we go back and forth?
[01:10:32] Daniel Matthews: Gimme uh, gimme two. Save your best for last. Gimme your first two and then I'll go and then you can give your best. Okay.
[01:10:38] Hunter Hill: Uh. So I have a, so I have two that are like actor specific. So I'll say those and then I'll do the best one.
[01:10:45] Daniel Matthews: I hope you don't ruin say one so I can get mine in.
Okay. 'cause if you take mine, I'm gonna be mad.
[01:10:50] Hunter Hill: Okay.
[01:10:50] Daniel Matthews: Uh, is about young Tom Riddle?
[01:10:53] Hunter Hill: Yes.
[01:10:53] Daniel Matthews: Okay. Lemme say it. What? What would you say? Lemme say, yeah, you say
[01:10:55] Hunter Hill: it
[01:10:56] Daniel Matthews: so young. Tom Riddle is the nephew of Ray Fines. [01:11:00] Yeah. Who plays Baltimore. Yeah. And it's like, man, look at that.
[01:11:02] Hunter Hill: Look at that
[01:11:03] Daniel Matthews: kind of, it kind of looks, it makes sense why he looks like him.
[01:11:05] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[01:11:06] Daniel Matthews: Makes, I also think that kid is in the weasley place getting the, uh, dragon. The thing that the dragon heats up.
[01:11:15] Hunter Hill: Okay. Okay. Okay. Looks like the exact same kid. Okay, hold on, hold on. I read about that kid. It's a different kid. That kid is actually the kid who ends up being like Harry and Jenny's son in like the epilogue.
That kid is actually dang it, that that kid is Harry and Jenny's, that's a whole
[01:11:32] Daniel Matthews: theory that they already existed.
[01:11:34] Hunter Hill: That's what, wow. Wow.
[01:11:37] Daniel Matthews: What?
[01:11:38] Hunter Hill: That was a good one. Okay. What I, what I saw was like, well, he still had to audition and go through the process and it's like, man, this is, this is England. No, he didn't.
[01:11:47] Daniel Matthews: What does that mean? That mug
[01:11:47] Hunter Hill: didn't audition
again. Again. Yeah. I appreciate our English listeners, but, but come on. You have to Facts. You don't think it, it like, Hey, by the
[01:11:58] Daniel Matthews: way, my, my [01:12:00] uncle is Voldemort. Yeah.
[01:12:02] Hunter Hill: Okay. Interesting. How about I be the character that turns in, into Voldemort? Yeah. Yeah. Uh, anyways, anyways, anyways. Um, this is awesome. Hold on. Uh, Maggie Smith, Dame Maggie Smith, yes.
She had, during filming she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Because of that, she had to go through treatment during the filming process. Yet she battled on and still acted. Showing her true bravery. I'm reading that. I was say you reading that straight? Yeah, I'm reading from something I'm reading. Um, but she managed to beat it.
Mm. So while she is Yeah. Filming half F Princes, she is battling cancer. I don't wanna say it. You can kind of tell something's off. She looks a lot older in this film. She doesn't seem as, like,
[01:12:58] Daniel Matthews: as, as,
[01:12:58] Hunter Hill: as like [01:13:00] rigorous about
[01:13:00] Daniel Matthews: Not at
[01:13:01] Hunter Hill: all.
[01:13:01] Daniel Matthews: But I also, I think although did the scene where she's, they're handing out schedules.
She's hilarious. She's great. Like take Weel with you. He looks far too happy up there.
[01:13:09] Hunter Hill: Yeah, that's a great scene. I think that it was in hindsight, like the directors did that to like she has a minor role in this film. Yeah.
[01:13:18] Daniel Matthews: You kinda had to Yeah, I get it. That's, yeah. You, you want more. But she's legendary.
Yeah. You love her 'cause of Downton, right? Yeah, dude. Downton Avenue. Yeah. She's
[01:13:24] Hunter Hill: so great. She's incredible. Okay. This also
[01:13:27] Daniel Matthews: English people. It's spelled downtown. I don't,
[01:13:31] Hunter Hill: I don't, that's a whole nother thing. I don't even wanna get in. That's an English thing that we probably It is downtown Abbey. Don't understand.
Yeah. Whatever down is the place. It still
[01:13:41] Daniel Matthews: should be downtown.
[01:13:41] Hunter Hill: Okay.
[01:13:42] Daniel Matthews: Well, moving through the city.
[01:13:44] Hunter Hill: Why, why is there so many Farmington's though?
[01:13:48] Daniel Matthews: You know, there's
[01:13:48] Hunter Hill: should be farming town. Why are there so many? Because that's what they are.
[01:13:51] Daniel Matthews: Why are there so many? Uh, that's what they started as. You're right.
[01:13:55] Hunter Hill: Middleton.
[01:13:56] Daniel Matthews: There's a lot of Middletons, Middletown, there's a lot of, uh, like Johnson [01:14:00] County. I feel like Johnson County might be the most common county. Yeah. Probably. Who the heck is whatever. Yeah.
[01:14:05] Hunter Hill: There's a lot of Johnsons. Yeah. Um, okay. So going back to the scene where Dumbledore goes to the orphanage to visit younger Tom Riddle.
Mm-hmm. On his little window sill, there are seven stones. Oh, seven stones. It's a little bit of a tease for how many rexes.
[01:14:28] Daniel Matthews: I know there's obviously the picture of the coast cave.
[01:14:31] Hunter Hill: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[01:14:32] Daniel Matthews: But I never saw the, that's, wow.
[01:14:34] Hunter Hill: Seven Stones and what I was reading said there's a lot of sevens in Harry Potter, like Harry's literally seven years number is number seven.
There's seven years at Hogwarts.
[01:14:45] Daniel Matthews: What's the number of pivot drive for? Dang it.
[01:14:47] Hunter Hill: Yeah, that would've been,
[01:14:48] Daniel Matthews: could've been that've been crazy.
[01:14:49] Hunter Hill: Hey, no Dursleys in this film. Kinda love it.
[01:14:54] Daniel Matthews: Kind of
[01:14:54] Hunter Hill: love it. Yeah, it's, it's good. It's good. Anyways, that's what I had. Uh oh, [01:15:00] there was also, oh, okay. Yeah, we need to talk about this.
Oh, this says, uh, JK almost put the half blood print sub supply in book two in the diary in.
[01:15:12] Daniel Matthews: Well, I don't know how it would, like, they introduced the, the concept of the half blood prints, is that what you're saying? Yeah. That would've been awesome.
[01:15:20] Hunter Hill: Why didn't you do that? But I don't. But how would've, how would that have worked?
You have two books then that are competing. That's probably why she didn't do it. 'cause Chamber Secrets is about the, the diary. You could,
[01:15:30] Daniel Matthews: you could have done. Okay, think about this. Think about this. Let's say that, uh, Lucius doesn't give the diary. You could have something in there like this book belongs to, but it gives the Thompson's book given by, or like kept by the half blood prints.
Yeah. That could have been nice. And then here's the whole, this adds even more to the snap's. Lore Double Door knew about the book. 'cause Snape took it to him. [01:16:00] He's like,
[01:16:00] Hunter Hill: yeah,
[01:16:00] Daniel Matthews: Baltimore wants me to return. Lucius actually handed it to me to return. Yeah. And double door's. Like, all right, now we know about it.
Yeah. But it would just, I don't know. I wonder how she would've
[01:16:11] Hunter Hill: done that. I know it didn't go into like a lot of detail 'cause it, I mean that's like talking about like the era of Slitherin, like can't maybe in the library. But I get why she didn't though. 'cause you can't talk about the era of Slitherin and the Diary and Half blood prints and the potions book in the same without getting too, you can't Yeah.
Complex. Like that would just be too, too much. So it makes sense that she didn't, but I think that also goes to show that this movie is a little bit of a filler because Yeah, because of that. That it's, it is absolutely a subplot. Yeah. Which I would say it's less of a plot obviously, than the chamber of secrets.
Like you learn that, oh for sure. You learn that brittles, the air of Slytherin and he is Voldemort like. So, [01:17:00] yeah, I would've loved to see, you know, with that. I'm so sure
[01:17:02] Daniel Matthews: to see how now, how she would've done that. Yeah. I don't, I don't,
[01:17:04] Hunter Hill: I don't know. It didn't go into it. And then last thing, this, the, the, the scene at the beginning where like they're in London.
Yeah. And there's, they like take out the bridge and the book, the setting, like that bridge wasn't, that bridge was built in like the two thousands. Hmm. So in the book, it's still like the nineties, but in the movie they tried to make it look more modern. Modernized it. Yeah. And so they just took out a bridge that wouldn't have existed when the book was written.
I just thought that was funny.
[01:17:36] Daniel Matthews: Yeah. 'cause the opening of the sixth book is fudge talking to the Prime minister.
[01:17:43] Hunter Hill: Yeah. Okay. Yeah. So
[01:17:44] Daniel Matthews: they still have, I like how they hint. They hinted at that.
[01:17:46] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[01:17:47] Daniel Matthews: They're having more contact with the muggle world. Yeah. Some good muggles in that scene. Tell you what, I'm excited to hear who you pick out for the, that award later.
I'll tell you what. Okay. The Fox, the Phoenix Award for best Memer GIF [01:18:00]
[01:18:00] Hunter Hill: says, uh, the unbreakable vow. The wizard's version of a pinky promise. That's a serious, like you'll die. Yeah. That is, and and it gives, it gives clarity to the rest of the movie. You're like, all right. Snape is about, he's not only bound to Yeah.
He's not about to let anything happen.
[01:18:21] Daniel Matthews: That's why he's so quick to be there when Draco gets Oh, yeah. Worked. Yeah. He's like, it's almost like the does is body tone, like he's in trouble.
[01:18:29] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[01:18:29] Daniel Matthews: I need to go be with him. Golly. Yeah. Okay, so we talked about it off mic. A lot of potential lacking for like, yeah.
There's a lot of potential for the good, good memes from this. Yeah. Especially the Dumbledore drinking potion scene. Come on man. Amen. You could do, I saw a couple, whatever, but I took one from there.
[01:18:52] Hunter Hill: Okay.
[01:18:53] Daniel Matthews: Uh, 'cause I actually, I'm gonna honor Tad Moore. I think Tad Moore would Okay. Appreciate this. 'cause he has kids and you would probably, yeah.
You, you have kid, [01:19:00] it says, uh, it's a picture of Dumbledore, like
[01:19:02] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[01:19:03] Daniel Matthews: You know, and Harry's like putting the shell into his whatever. And it says, my kids at dinner, when I say, take another bite, kill me.
[01:19:13] Hunter Hill: That's true. That's probably true. Gosh.
[01:19:15] Daniel Matthews: Oh man, that seems, that's a pretty drawn out
[01:19:17] Hunter Hill: scene in the book, right?
Yes. Like, yes. The movie kind of makes it move much quicker. Like, I mean, double door's literally yelling, kill me. But I remember in the book it being like, this is hard. He gives so much more
[01:19:31] Daniel Matthews: into his past. He's like saying things about like. His sister, and like, it's, he's confessing a lot of stuff. You're like, this dude is going through it right now.
Wow. He's going through
[01:19:43] Hunter Hill: it. Yeah. Okay. I also saw real quick Yeah. It's like the, the, the classic like guy holding hands with girl, girl walks by and he looks at the girl that walks by. Yeah. I saw. Yeah. And his Hermione was the girl walking by. Yeah. Yeah. La Lavender. Lavender was the girl. Lavender.
[01:19:56] Daniel Matthews: Incredible.
Yeah. Probably the weakest meme [01:20:00] movie. Yeah. I just think culturally this one is the least favorite, but I think if you go deeper down, true France, it might be one of their favorites. That's, I'm gonna say it. Hot. Hot take. Wow. Hot take. If you tell me that your favorite are one or two, you're laman.
[01:20:18] Hunter Hill: Okay.
[01:20:19] Daniel Matthews: Sorry.
[01:20:19] Hunter Hill: I'm with you.
[01:20:20] Daniel Matthews: If you're one or two, you're, you're a casual fan.
[01:20:22] Hunter Hill: I definitely have a higher, much higher respect for. This movie after watching it rewatch. It's hilarious. It's so good. Yeah.
[01:20:30] Daniel Matthews: Yeah, you're right. The plot. There's some potholes. Yeah, it's a filler potentially. Yeah. But it's funny. Oh, it's good.
It's goofy. It's so good. It, it does have a very sad scene. Uh, yeah. Yeah. Okay. Next award. The, anything off the Trolley Deer Award? Best food or drink scene?
[01:20:48] Hunter Hill: Yeah. I put, um, when they're at the borough and Ginny comes up to sit by Harry and looks like they're about to just May 19. Yeah. It looks like they're about to have a moment.
And then [01:21:00] Ron is carrying just like a mass plate of pies. Pies or pastries. The pies
[01:21:04] Daniel Matthews: look good.
[01:21:05] Hunter Hill: Yeah. I would have one of those pies. Yeah. Yeah. But like, there's no way they're eating all those. He is. I mean, he might, I love
[01:21:12] Daniel Matthews: how he sits right in the middle of them.
[01:21:14] Hunter Hill: Yeah. And you're like, oh. He's like,
[01:21:17] Daniel Matthews: like looking left and right.
I, I really like that scene. Yeah. The, the food looks really good. That's a
[01:21:22] Hunter Hill: fun scene.
[01:21:22] Daniel Matthews: Uh, there's, there's actually quite a few. Yeah, I guess food in here. I put, um, dude. Okay. We didn't talk about that. I've been crapping on Ron on all these films. Yeah. His best film by far.
[01:21:34] Hunter Hill: Okay.
[01:21:35] Daniel Matthews: He's hilarious. Yeah, he's really good.
He has so many funny moments. He does. Anyways. The ice cream party at Slughorn part or, uh, yeah. Yeah. At slughorn. Yeah. Hilarious. Good one. Very
[01:21:44] Hunter Hill: funny.
[01:21:44] Daniel Matthews: I think I'm gonna have to give it Ron eating jello, though. Oh. Just,
[01:21:48] Hunter Hill: is that the one where her mind is like, did you ever stop eating? Yeah.
[01:21:51] Daniel Matthews: She's like hitting like, your best friend is missing.
Oh yeah.
[01:21:53] Hunter Hill: Will you stop eating it?
[01:21:55] Daniel Matthews: Oh dude. That's okay. I have to say a line from the, I love [01:22:00] again. Ron kills it. Yeah. Harry asked Ron like, did I miss anything from the feast? And Ron says, the, the sorting hat urges all to be brave and strong in these troubled times. Easy for it to say, huh? It's a hat, isn't it?
It's a hat. But the way to delivered me. You're
[01:22:16] Hunter Hill: like, that's hilarious. Oh, also he has a great one where, uh, there in McGonigal's, this was after that girl, uh, Katie Belle got cursed. Yeah. And McGonigal goes, uh, why is it when something happens, it's always you three. And Ron's like, believe me, professor, I've been asking myself that for six years.
[01:22:40] Daniel Matthews: Yeah.
[01:22:41] Hunter Hill: Okay. Someone did so many good lines. Did so
[01:22:43] Daniel Matthews: many good lines. Wow. I think I wrote down the most favorite lines from this film.
[01:22:48] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[01:22:48] Daniel Matthews: But it's overlooked, man. Overlooked. It's overlooked sleeper. Okay. Muggle of the movie award. I mean, I mean, you come out swinging with muggles, there's like 20 muggles all on a road.
What you got? Who you got? I just put the guy who's [01:23:00] sitting this, the T guy, his T down. Yeah. You are the worst. You would, what? What are you gonna say? I put the guy who's. Behind the T guy. He, I put balding guy in suit who turns around. He's at the, he's at the convers table. He turns around and stands up and starts moving.
He goes like almost out of frame behind Thet guy. Yeah. Yeah. He's, he's, he's balding. He's awesome. Yeah. Yeah. Got tie on.
[01:23:23] Hunter Hill: Bunch of investment bankers in there. Just, I just
[01:23:24] Daniel Matthews: think that dude went and got blasted drunk after that. He looked down and saw a bridge clap and he's like, they're like, I'm gonna the pub.
Yeah. Like, honestly,
[01:23:37] Hunter Hill: um, gonna, the pub, this, this deal we were talking about in here, in this meeting was not a good deal, but that's a really bad, bad deal. Yeah.
[01:23:45] Daniel Matthews: He's like, yeah, I'm gonna, I'm gonna, I'm gonna drink this one off guys. He just seems like a drinker. That other guy, he walked home, he drank some tea at home.
Yeah. My guy, my muggle dude, he had, he had a night, had some fish and chips. Oh my
[01:23:59] Hunter Hill: [01:24:00] gosh.
[01:24:00] Daniel Matthews: What? Is
[01:24:01] Hunter Hill: there any other muggle scenes. Oh, oh, Harry, at the train station. The cafe at the train station. Yeah. I mean,
[01:24:08] Daniel Matthews: you, you gotta give, you gotta give it to her. She's, she's good. I don't, you can give it to her if you want.
I don't, I'm not. Can you tell
[01:24:14] Hunter Hill: me about that Toss Harry Potter?
[01:24:16] Daniel Matthews: Yeah. Yeah. That's not how interactions go at cafes, by the way. Maybe if, if I was the chosen one, he is the chosen one. I know, but I'm not, so that no girl's, like, I'm about to ask her a question. She's like, I get off 11. I'm like, all right, I'll probably be at home.
I don't, why are you telling me this? It's weird. You know? That's just not how those are. You would not
[01:24:37] Hunter Hill: in that, in that situation, you'd be like, oh, I'd be waiting for a famous wizard.
[01:24:42] Daniel Matthews: Right,
[01:24:42] Hunter Hill: right. So I wouldn't make plans. Right. Standing in front of the, the
[01:24:46] Daniel Matthews: perfume. Divine magic, the perview magic. Yeah.
Divine magic. Yeah. Okay. Okay. The John Williams of Award. For the best musical moment,
[01:24:55] Hunter Hill: man, I did the wand lights in the courtyard. The what? [01:25:00] Wand lights. Oh yeah. They're holding up the lights after Dumbo. That, that scene just kills
[01:25:06] Daniel Matthews: visually. Really good. Too man's so
[01:25:07] Hunter Hill: good. What'd you put? Isn't it like an angel choir?
It's like, oh. Like what? Isn't it that, or is it, uh, I, I'm gonna be honest, I don't remember what it was. I just remember feeling a lot of feelings during that. Mm. Big feelings. And it definitely
[01:25:23] Daniel Matthews: makes you feel
[01:25:23] Hunter Hill: and being like, this is the music moment.
[01:25:26] Daniel Matthews: Yeah. So, uh, to me there's two, but I'm gonna, I'm gonna go to my first one.
I put Quidditch tryouts because I think it's an Order of the Phoenix theme callback. Hmm. It's like d like that kind of like adventurous theme. Oh. But it's a little more playful. It's a little bit more playful. Yes. And I'm pretty sure that's what. The Double Doors Army was, yes. Okay. And so I'm like, dude, I love that.
That's a good call out. Yeah, that's really good. I love that. That was a cool, yeah. And that music's so to me, I'm [01:26:00] like, oh, that feels like teenage spirit. Totally. Yes. It just feels like,
[01:26:03] Hunter Hill: yes, you're so right. Not the, you're so Right. Not the Nirvana song, but Yeah. Yeah. But that's also a scene where you're like, okay, Hermione likes Ron.
Yo, you like you, you can just, fuck. You can just feel it and you're like, okay, this is McClain. This is what's set. Oh dude. The worst. We didn't call, we didn't talk about Cormac. Dude. Cormac sucks. I'll make sure it sucks. He's probably a better goalie. I'll, I'll say probably a better goalie, but not, not when Ron thinks he has Felix.
Dude, watch out Ron on Felix McLagan was watching that being like, maybe I, maybe he is better.
[01:26:37] Daniel Matthews: Yeah. Like, yeah. What don't you think Jenny would've pulled some goals though for her brother? What do you mean? Like she would've purposely missed. Oh, because she was going tryouts. She's the one who try, she's the one who shoots the end where he turns around and hits it with his head.
Oh. Or goes upside down. And I'm like, I think, I don't know. Or maybe she
[01:26:57] Hunter Hill: wouldn't, I think Jenny might have that dog in her. And she's like, [01:27:00] she definitely has that dog. It's okay. She runs after Harry when he runs out into the, the field. What the heck?
[01:27:08] Daniel Matthews: What the heck? What the heck? I still, Hey, I still think it's weird that, um, Harry or that, uh, Jenny got super personal with a horcrux in book two, and then Mary's a horcrux.
I think I'm just saying. I'm, I'm, yeah. There's something
[01:27:23] Hunter Hill: up. There's something that, there's something there. She just likes bad boys. That's, I mean, maybe it's not much more than that. She's like, well, I can't get Baltimore, so I guess
[01:27:32] Daniel Matthews: I'm
[01:27:33] Hunter Hill: going for
[01:27:33] Daniel Matthews: Harry.
[01:27:34] Hunter Hill: I'll settle for someone who has one seventh of this goal.
[01:27:38] Daniel Matthews: It's just a little weird. Like, I think you could take it a couple ways. The one, the, probably the worst way is to say like. Hair or Jenny might be pretty manipula. Manipulable. Is that a word,
[01:27:50] Hunter Hill: man?
[01:27:51] Daniel Matthews: Easily manipulated.
[01:27:52] Hunter Hill: Yeah,
[01:27:52] Daniel Matthews: that's a better way to say it. Easily
[01:27:54] Hunter Hill: manipulated.
[01:27:54] Daniel Matthews: I think I, that's the worst way you could take that, but maybe, I don't
[01:27:59] Hunter Hill: [01:28:00] know.
[01:28:00] Daniel Matthews: She, but,
[01:28:00] Hunter Hill: but Okay. But, but she's, she's awesome. She's the one that hides the book though, in the room of requirement. That is true. But maybe she wants to be the one to hide the book. She wants to find the book later
[01:28:10] Daniel Matthews: to you by,
[01:28:13] Hunter Hill: I dunno. We could get,
[01:28:16] Daniel Matthews: we may have just, it is just weird to me. It's like no one talks about that, but Yeah.
Hey, I poured my heart out into this diary and it was Tom Riddle. Yeah. That was Lord Baltimore. Yeah. Second best thing. Harry Potter. I mean, come on dude. That's just, that's just, yeah. There's something there. I, I don't wanna de I don't even wanna dive deeper.
[01:28:39] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[01:28:40] Daniel Matthews: But there's something there. There's something there, but we're not, there's
[01:28:44] Hunter Hill: something there.
We're not gonna, but we're not gonna appreciate it. I don't even know what hell, I gonna
[01:28:47] Daniel Matthews: dive deeper, but there's something there. Okay. The Snape Award for the best acting performance, dude, I have like three on here. I don't know who to give it to, but dude, I, I put one person. Alright. Snape. [01:29:00] Fair? Fair enough.
Uh, I didn't have him on my list, but Yeah, you right. I feel like, I feel like he just, but it's, but you're saying Alan Rickman. Alan Rickman, yeah. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. He's good in this. He's very good. He's very good. He's so good. What, who did you have I, I hinted at it earlier. I gotta give it to Rupert Gr. He's good.
Yeah. He steps up. He's so good. So much more than this one. Yeah, he's, he's exactly, I think what Ron should be. He's hilarious. Yeah.
[01:29:31] Hunter Hill: Funny.
[01:29:31] Daniel Matthews: Ron is the guy who, I'm actually shocked that he didn't perpetually have a girlfriend. I think that would've been a better character. Caricature of him is like every year he has a girlfriend.
[01:29:40] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[01:29:41] Daniel Matthews: And he had to have all these different lavenders, as you would say, to get to Hermione. I'm shocked that it's his first girlfriend.
[01:29:47] Hunter Hill: Yeah, that's a good point. It feels like. Yeah, but you can't go back and look at like the first and second year, Ron and Harry and be like, you guys have girlfriends. I mean, do you remember [01:30:00] having a girlfriend when you were 11 years old?
No, but
[01:30:01] Daniel Matthews: year three he should have had a girlfriend for like a hundred percent.
[01:30:05] Hunter Hill: No,
[01:30:06] Daniel Matthews: no. With like prisoner of asking man stuff and gobbled of fire. Especially dude should have a girlfriend. Whew.
[01:30:13] Hunter Hill: Honestly, he's not getting someone from, though, he doesn't have, he doesn't have, what do the kids call the race?
Here's thing. He's trying. He's trying. He has, he has. He's low, low wrist. There's such a funny line.
[01:30:22] Daniel Matthews: She's like, Jenny's like, he was actually like screaming at her. Tried to ask out, uh, trying to ask the Yu ball.
[01:30:30] Hunter Hill: He just started,
[01:30:31] Daniel Matthews: actually
[01:30:31] Hunter Hill: just started yelling at her.
[01:30:33] Daniel Matthews: Yelling at her. And then
[01:30:34] Hunter Hill: she marries his, I'm telling you, older brother telling, there's
[01:30:36] Daniel Matthews: something with the Weasley family.
There's just we're, I mean, don't dive any deeper, but it's a little weird. It is a little weird. It's weird. Why is that weird?
[01:30:46] Hunter Hill: That she's weird? That flu marries No, I, no, I think it's more
[01:30:54] Daniel Matthews: weird that like Ron went after her. Oh, and then she just marries an older version of Ron. [01:31:00]
[01:31:01] Hunter Hill: Sorry. She didn't know what she wanted.
[01:31:03] Daniel Matthews: There's a lot of weird theories about the Weasley. You should look into it.
[01:31:07] Hunter Hill: I don't know if I want to.
[01:31:08] Daniel Matthews: They're fascinating. There's one about the twins. Wild. I look into it. I'm
[01:31:14] Hunter Hill: honestly, I don't know if I look into it. I dunno if I, I dunno.
[01:31:17] Daniel Matthews: It's really fascinating actually, but, okay. Whatever. Okay. I also, real quick, Kathleen Colley, who plays Lavender Brown, is also really good in it.
Okay. I
[01:31:27] Hunter Hill: was gonna ask, is she actually good? Because like, you, you don't like her.
[01:31:31] Daniel Matthews: That's why she's really good.
[01:31:32] Hunter Hill: But, but okay. But if someone is so annoying that you don't like her, is she good? 'cause we talk about, like, Dolores, how Yeah. We hate her because she's, because we, but she's playing her role. She's so good.
Because we hate her so much. Yeah. And I tried to apply that same logic to Lavender, and I was like, I don't know. Like, it feels like she's, it's a, obviously it's a movie and so they need like. And [01:32:00] as little of screen time as possible. Yeah. To show that she's like this like crazy teenage girl who is just like, yeah, all want, all she wants to do is chat Ron's lips.
But here's
[01:32:11] Daniel Matthews: here, what's up here is my counter argument. Okay. To my answer actually, just saying, Ron, I've had Ron for six films, so I can see the progression. Mm-hmm. Lavender, you only get her in this one in the next and she dies in the next spoiler and you feel bad.
[01:32:27] Hunter Hill: I think I forgot that.
[01:32:28] Daniel Matthews: Yeah. You feel bad.
She gets, she gets killed and then she's like getting eaten by uh, the, uh, werewolf dude and her mighty shoots a him off the edge and it shows lavender dead and you're like, shoot, from, from not having any action in the first five films to, to
[01:32:49] Hunter Hill: coming on screen and
[01:32:49] Daniel Matthews: like.
[01:32:50] Hunter Hill: It's pretty good. You're
[01:32:51] Daniel Matthews: sad when she dies in the next film.
Yeah, that's true. Honestly, I'm changing my answer. Sorry, Rupert. Wow. I'm giving it to Kathleen Colley, dude. Wow. She is. [01:33:00] She's great. She's for what she needs to be. She hits do when she's in the Great Hall and she's like, okay. Yeah. With her spoon, and she's looking at Ron. Hilarious. That's not real life though.
It's a movie. I mean, yes, but Hunter, you've never been in love, dude. I guess that's,
[01:33:16] Hunter Hill: you've never false. False. But what I am saying is that you've never
[01:33:21] Daniel Matthews: been in love like that, dude.
[01:33:23] Hunter Hill: What? No. Been. I literally, you've never
[01:33:25] Daniel Matthews: been in love poaching love.
[01:33:27] Hunter Hill: That's true. I've never, that's what, I've never been on drugs.
[01:33:30] Daniel Matthews: It's ob. Yeah. I mean, that's what, that's what it feels like. She's obsessed with him. Yeah. I mean, it's bad. Anyway, I changed, I'm sorry, I changed my answer. Who was the other one? I had Rupert grin. Oh. Uh, I, I think Horace Jim Broadband broadbent As ho as Slug Slughorn. Dude, he's great. He's good. But I'm gonna give it to Kathleen Colley.
Okay. Because, uh, she didn't have a lot of screen time. Yeah. A lot of like, but you get her character
[01:33:56] Hunter Hill: quick.
[01:33:56] Daniel Matthews: Yeah. And that's impressive. Yeah. [01:34:00] That's very impressive. I ate Rupert for five films and I'm just now like, no, he is good.
[01:34:04] Hunter Hill: Yeah,
[01:34:04] Daniel Matthews: it's tough. She didn't have the luxury.
[01:34:07] Hunter Hill: That's true. That's true.
[01:34:09] Daniel Matthews: She's older.
I get it. She's better actor. But
[01:34:11] Hunter Hill: yeah.
[01:34:12] Daniel Matthews: Good for her.
[01:34:13] Hunter Hill: I don't think she's as good
[01:34:15] Daniel Matthews: as actress as Luna though. No one is Luna's. Luna is Luna. That girl who plays her is just Luna.
[01:34:22] Hunter Hill: So maybe Luna should be,
[01:34:24] Daniel Matthews: I don't have her on this one, but I think I put her on the last
[01:34:27] Hunter Hill: one.
[01:34:27] Daniel Matthews: The more that I
[01:34:27] Hunter Hill: think about it. Like I said, Snape because, because the Snape award, because of the Snape Award, and this is like probably his most prominent film.
Like Yeah. Like event wise. Yeah. I guess the last one, but he's
[01:34:42] Daniel Matthews: not in that one very much.
[01:34:44] Hunter Hill: Yeah, I don't, but Luna is just like, so like,
[01:34:48] Daniel Matthews: are you talking yourself into giving it to Luna? I might be.
[01:34:51] Hunter Hill: She's not even like in this film very much. I think. I think Is it the next one where they go to like her house and her dad?
Is there the one Yeah, that one's good. [01:35:00] The way
[01:35:01] Daniel Matthews: hilarious
[01:35:02] Hunter Hill: when she shows up. Um, uh, what, how, what do they say? Like, I'll, I'll bring someone, I'll bring someone cool. He brings l Luna, like Luna's just right there, just wearing something like crazy. He's like,
[01:35:17] Daniel Matthews: I guess Luna is in this film. Yeah. But, but come on, don't change it.
I mean, she's, you can do whatever you want. Want. Kathleen Colley is, plays her character better. I don't, I, as I said it, I'm not, not sure fully. I'm giving it to her though. Think I I am giving it to Lavender Brown. You are my Snape Award for best acting performance. Kathleen Colley. I know you're listening, Kathleen.
Good job. Okay,
[01:35:39] Hunter Hill: I'm gonna say, I'm gonna say this.
[01:35:40] Daniel Matthews: Don't, I'm gonna say it. Don't say it.
[01:35:43] Hunter Hill: There are probably, I know what, at minimum, a hundred thousand girls. No. In, in England. No. That could have done what Lavender Brown did.
[01:35:54] Daniel Matthews: I disagree with that.
[01:35:55] Hunter Hill: Okay. There's probably a thousand girls. No. England. I could have done what?[01:36:00]
Lavender bound? Maybe, maybe 10. There's one girl who could have, who could have played Luna as good as, but you're gonna give
[01:36:06] Daniel Matthews: it to Luna on every film. And this isn't even like her introduction film,
[01:36:10] Hunter Hill: I think I'm just saying like what you're saying about lavender. I just feel like if you apply it to Luna it makes more sense.
But this isn't
[01:36:17] Daniel Matthews: Luna's film. You're right. But Luna's in half the movies.
[01:36:23] Hunter Hill: Okay.
[01:36:23] Daniel Matthews: Our guess. Does she come in five or four? Yeah.
[01:36:27] Hunter Hill: Oh, is it four? I don't remember. No, no, no, no. Because no, no, no. It's five. It's five because still half with the Thess. Like Yeah, she sees so she's in half.
[01:36:39] Daniel Matthews: Like, okay. She has so much more batting opportunities.
She's getting more shots up. I, I, I see what you're saying. Lavender ain't got a lot of shots, but she shoots bro. She plays her. I just, I, it's annoying. She's annoying and that's why like it's get good.
[01:36:54] Hunter Hill: I get it. I get it. I'm just saying, I think you could literally find a thousand girls in England that could, that could do what she wants.
Why don't [01:37:00] you go and find
[01:37:00] Daniel Matthews: them?
[01:37:01] Hunter Hill: I'm not about to do that. Why don't you go and find them? I'm just, Hey, hey, hey. I'm just saying, Hey. I also think Luna's the, the girl who plays Luna, her story of like. How she became Luna is cool.
[01:37:13] Daniel Matthews: She just auditioned. She's like, I am Luna. She's like, I'm, I'm Luna. Anyway, h her.
You can give the award whoever you want to. I'm telling you who I'm giving my award to. That's fine. I'm it. I'm Kathleen Colley. I'm just, I'm just, he's got more call ups on this podcast than any other podcast. Kathleen Colley, lavender Brown Snape Award. Boom.
[01:37:27] Hunter Hill: Okay, there you go.
[01:37:28] Daniel Matthews: I'm giving it to her. I can't take away, I'm giving it to her.
[01:37:30] Hunter Hill: All right.
[01:37:31] Daniel Matthews: Okay. Port Key Award for nostalgia moment that takes you back, transports you back Transports, I should say.
[01:37:38] Hunter Hill: Uh, I put the slug club because Which one? Which scene? Or just, I think just in general, because I think, obviously I've mentioned it like I love Hogwarts just as a setting and it just feels very, it's a news ho of
[01:37:50] Daniel Matthews: Hogwarts news side of Hogwarts too.
Yeah.
[01:37:51] Hunter Hill: And so it's just fun. Um, you get some like teenage drama in there. Yep. That just [01:38:00] like, yeah, there's this like crazy dark war going on, but. Ginny walks in and like, what's most important is that like she was crying and And Harry stands up. Harry stands up in her mind. He is like, oh, what's up? All right.
All right. All all right, Harry. All right, dude. Um, so I think that was, I think that was really fun. Yeah. And I, I mentioned it earlier, it was just fun to be reminded how that this entire movie is really at Hogwarts besides like, what, 10%?
[01:38:31] Daniel Matthews: Yeah.
[01:38:32] Hunter Hill: So 90% of the movie's at Hogwarts, like, that's awesome.
[01:38:34] Daniel Matthews: Yeah. So Slud Club is your Port key award Port Key, and yet you pick Quidditch team over it and the this or that.
Can you explain yourself? You're all over the place. Uh,
[01:38:42] Hunter Hill: you're all over the place. 'cause Quidditch to me, it was a fun scene. Like what I, what would I rather be in, if that's how you took it. I'd rather be on the Quidditch team. But when I saw the Slug Club part of the movie, I was like, oh, this is, this is cool.
Whatever dude. You're going back. I said, what? I said, I mean,
[01:38:58] Daniel Matthews: I changed my last award like [01:39:00] three times. So like. You can do whatever you want. I said what I said. Okay. I put Arag Go's funeral. I, I actually, one of my favorite shots maybe in all of the, um, series is it's like, I think Slug Horn's giving his things.
He's like, the body will game. Yeah. But the spirit, it like zooms and it's like a shot from behind them. Yeah. When you see the castle. Yeah. And I don't know, I love that shot. It's a great shot. It's, it's a really good shot. It's a great shot. And, uh, to me that's like almost the scene I think of when I, when I, uh, think about this movie.
So I really like that. Interesting. Okay. Now we're getting to a, a. A very interesting point because earlier today you text me and you said you wanted to set your list on fire. Yeah. You even set it earlier. Yeah. You wanna do the Dumbledore spell on it? Yeah. I actually am becoming more content with my list.
[01:39:53] Hunter Hill: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[01:39:55] Daniel Matthews: So I'm excited to hear what you have. Let me, let me recap for the folks [01:40:00] before you fill yours in. Yeah. You've got an order of film appearance, sorcerer stone at number four that we're re-ranking these after we watch 'em. Yep. Once it's locked in and the spot's locked in. Yep.
Sorcerer stone at number four, chamber of Secrets of Five Prisoner of asking man an eight. Ooh goblet. A fire at four and Order of the Phoenix six Goblet. A fire at three. My bad. Goblet fire I read. It's the fourth film, goblet of Fire at three. Order the Phoenix number six. So yeah, in order. Third place Goblet.
Fourth place sourcers, fifth place, chamber of Secrets. Sixth place Order. The Phoenix. Nothing for seventh, eighth place prisoner basket band. You have three spots left. So it's
[01:40:43] Hunter Hill: first, second or seventh.
[01:40:44] Daniel Matthews: And I'm, I, I am, I think I know where you're going, but I think it's a horrible choice. Yeah. My go seven. Oh my gosh.
[01:40:54] Hunter Hill: I mean, look man, I will say what I will say, your list is horrible. [01:41:00] I did not remember the, like the, there's so many lines in this movie that like, if I could go back, obviously, would I do things differently? Yes.
[01:41:09] Daniel Matthews: Mm-hmm.
[01:41:10] Hunter Hill: Which we'll do at the, at the very end
[01:41:11] Daniel Matthews: we Whoa, whoa. Yeah.
[01:41:12] Hunter Hill: Um, yeah, I would, I would do things differently if I could, but we are where we are 'cause we knew what we did.
Mm-hmm. So, um, I will say, we have talked about how it's like a filler. Like prisoner ba band. So
[01:41:28] Daniel Matthews: you don't like the, you like the vor higher stakes films seem, I mean, from your ranking seemingly.
[01:41:34] Hunter Hill: I, I think the, the, the dialogue in this one is maybe the best yet. Oh dude, by far. Well, we've like spent the whole podcast.
It's h talking about it's hilarious. Yeah. So that is, that's what's awesome about it. The, I mean, we've talked about how the plot is like, I mean, what it introduces four cruxes, which is a massive deal, but it doesn't feel like it necessarily move. The plot moves a whole lot.
[01:41:55] Daniel Matthews: Yeah.
[01:41:57] Hunter Hill: So I mean, I'm literally choosing between first, [01:42:00] second, and seventh and we've got de Halls part one and two coming up.
It just feels, it just feels like it just is at this point. It's, it's the, the choice that must be made.
[01:42:15] Daniel Matthews: Before I give you my answer, can you tell me which of the films you currently had ranked are you most disappointed about the ranking? Don't tell me where you'd put 'em, but like what are you, what are you most disappointed?
I literally think this one. Okay. That's why you text me. Yeah.
[01:42:31] Hunter Hill: I don't know how much is, how much is recency bias? Like I, this, this, this, the way we're doing it just exposes your recency bias.
[01:42:40] Daniel Matthews: Yours. It does, yeah. For sure.
[01:42:43] Hunter Hill: But
[01:42:43] Daniel Matthews: yours It does. Yeah.
[01:42:44] Hunter Hill: I, uh, and so I, I truly, because I remember after, I mean all of these being like, man, that was so good.
So good, so good. But I feel like with this one, it's like, no, this one like made me laugh. Yeah. Like [01:43:00] the other ones were great because of like the bravery and courage and it's good versus evil and that's awesome. But this one is just funny. Like this one has like a very, like down, it was a lot more down to earth than I remember.
Yeah. Which would, which is why I think it's the most disappointing.
[01:43:19] Daniel Matthews: Yeah, I get that. Okay, so recap for mine. Actually, you wanna recap mine? Yeah. You have it right? Yeah, yeah,
[01:43:27] Hunter Hill: yeah. I got it. Okay. So the spots that are open are first, second, and fourth. Yes. So in the third spot we have goblet of fire.
[01:43:35] Daniel Matthews: This is probably a, definitely the better way to do this than the, what I did.
Oh, I meant, this is great. Yeah. Okay.
[01:43:41] Hunter Hill: Um, so third spot, goblet of fire. Fifth, we have prisoner of Aman, sixth order of the Phoenix, seventh source for stone and eighth chamber of secrets. So again, first, second, or fourth.
[01:43:54] Daniel Matthews: Yeah. So I think it's pretty clear that I, I've set myself up a little bit better than you.[01:44:00]
I, I'll say it 100% and yet this was difficult because in rewatching this one. So, okay, here's what, here's what I'll, before I give mine to me, how do I say this? This isn't, I don't like, I would not enjoy watching this one back to back. Like twice. Oh. But when I rewatch it with space
[01:44:28] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[01:44:29] Daniel Matthews: It is. So like I forget so much about it.
Yeah. And I love it. Probably on the first rewatch of all these, it's been my most enjoyable. Okay. But
[01:44:41] Hunter Hill: I feel that,
[01:44:42] Daniel Matthews: but when, again, I, I've been trying to watch 'em twice. Yeah. Just to get That's what, you know, one of my favorite podcasts do. Yeah. So I was like, let's try it out. Yeah. One you fill out the other one you don't, you just enjoy it.
Yeah. And I didn't enjoy it as much on the second. Okay. I still liked it. Yeah. But [01:45:00] it, I think it, it moved it down to number four for me. Okay. I'm with you. So I think the peak would of, it would be two. Okay. But I'm gi I'm obviously, I'm punching it at four. Yeah.
[01:45:12] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[01:45:13] Daniel Matthews: Which is funny 'cause it leaves both of us.
[01:45:15] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[01:45:16] Daniel Matthews: The last two. Yeah. Which I think at the be beginning, I, I think I was kind of saving it. 'cause in my memory I'm like, I think seven and eight are just better movies. Yeah.
[01:45:25] Hunter Hill: But we will find out.
[01:45:27] Daniel Matthews: Yeah.
[01:45:27] Hunter Hill: I, and what these later films have going, is the sim going for them? Is the cinematography is so much better
[01:45:34] Daniel Matthews: Yes.
To wear and think about all the buildup. Yeah. The foundation is so strong. Yeah. So strong. I mean, yeah. It's, they're on the backs of so many other things. Yeah. So it's just like, yeah.
[01:45:48] Hunter Hill: It, I wonder if, if this is the best way to put it. The, the, the dialogue, the interactions, like the human side of this film is the best [01:46:00] yet.
Mm-hmm. But it's just lacking in like actual plot.
[01:46:04] Daniel Matthews: Yes.
[01:46:05] Hunter Hill: That's a great way to say it. Yeah. And like if the plot was as good as like the dialogue and the, and the interactions, it would be higher. Yeah. I mean, I want mine to be higher than seven, obviously, but like, I'm just trying to think in the overall grand scheme of things.
[01:46:18] Daniel Matthews: Probably one of the weaker, if not the weakest plot. Yeah. Like, although the first one's plot's kind of weak. Uh, yeah. I think it's a, that's just setting the stage of like the wizarding world. I get it. Like, she's like, you know what, it was perfect introduction to the wizarding world. Yeah. But it's just low
[01:46:36] Hunter Hill: stakes,
[01:46:38] Daniel Matthews: but it's not that
[01:46:39] Hunter Hill: low.
[01:46:39] Daniel Matthews: It's the thing. Well,
[01:46:40] Hunter Hill: I mean low compared to like the rest of it. It's low. What if he would've gotten eternal life?
[01:46:47] Daniel Matthews: What if Vold Mark gets it? That would've, that would been, how do you start a series though? Would that
[01:46:50] Hunter Hill: would've been bad? But you don't, like you, you look at Chamber of Secrets and there's a snake.
Yeah. This, it feels a lot more like, you're like,
[01:46:57] Daniel Matthews: oh shoot, dude. It feels a lot [01:47:00] more real, for sure. Yeah, man, I'm excited. So we're gonna have, I mean, I so think I said this last time. Yeah. We're gonna have AD and Chris. Yeah. Who AD again was supposed to be a guest on this one. Chris has been a guest. Yeah. For Goblet A Fire.
We're gonna have them back on for seven and eight.
[01:47:18] Hunter Hill: Yeah.
[01:47:19] Daniel Matthews: And so it's gonna be a crowded house. Wow. I'm excited just to dive back into those. Yeah. Like kind of, I mean, we're coming to the end. We're
[01:47:28] Hunter Hill: coming to the end. We're coming to the end. This is, this is kind of, I'm gonna be legit
[01:47:32] Daniel Matthews: sad when it's over.
Well, you know what we're gonna do on the last episode. Not only are we gonna redraft, which maybe we shouldn't actually do that 'cause like it kind of destroys the purpose, but we've hinted at it. So maybe we will. Yeah. But then we're going to pull out of a hat the next series we watch. And I'm excited because, um, you, you confessed to me that there was a series that you had not seen yet that I was like mm-hmm.
You haven't seen that trilogy. Mm-hmm. And trilogies are a little bit easier. [01:48:00] Yeah. You can go in more depth than seven films. Yeah. I'm kind of hoping that trilogy gets picked. Yeah. And I'm not gonna say it because I don't wanna ruin it. I feel like we've already talked about it though. Did we? I still don't wanna say just in case.
Just in case, you know, new English listeners. I don't wanna ruin it for them, you know? Yeah, yeah. Don't go back and listen. Yeah, don't, don't go listen. Uh, I'm excited though to see what our next one is. Yeah. Next one up. Harry Potter. The Deathly Hallows heart. One part one. It's gonna be good deal. See you folks.
