OVER DEZE AFLEVERING
Deep Dive into Effectual Calling (Luke 19:5) by Charles Spurgeon
Charles Spurgeon uses the biblical account of Zaccheus to illustrate the doctrine of effectual calling, portraying divine grace as a gracious, personal, hastening, humbling, affectionate, abiding, and necessary pursuit of sinners. The sermon emphasizes that God actively seeks out even the most hardened and unlikely individuals, compelling them to abandon their pride and self-righteousness. Through this transformative encounter, believers are not merely given a temporary invitation, but are permanently changed and motivated to produce tangible fruits of repentance and righteousness. Ultimately, Spurgeon encourages his congregation to respond to Christ's urgent summons by surrendering their hearts and seeking His salvation.
