OVER DEZE AFLEVERING
Welcome to Public Cloud for Public Good, a bi-weekly newsletter and podcast focused on making the world a better place. Whether that’s making peoples lives better, building services in the public & third sectors or thinking about coding more sustainably. This podcast is hosted by Aaron Booth, a Cloud Sustainability Consultant based in the UK.
This week Aaron is joined by Matthew Todd, multi-award-winning writer, broadcaster and sometime performer who edited the UK’s best-selling gay magazine, Attitude, for eight years and is best known for his book ‘Straight Jacket: Overcoming Societies Legacy of Gay Shame’. The focus of today’s conversation is climate change and why nobody really seems to care about the end of the world! Matthew is able to provide us with some interesting insights into the world of media, exposing the fact that we are all told what we should (and shouldn’t) be caring about.

Matthew’s chosen organisation for our £500 donation is Extinction Rebellion, a global environmental movement with the stated aim of using nonviolent civil disobedience to compel government action to avoid tipping points in the climate system, biodiversity loss, and the risk of social and ecological collapse. This podcast is brought to you by Embue, a consultancy company helping businesses get a handle on their cloud spending and even reduce their environmental impact on the world at the same time: https://embue.co.uk
