OVER DEZE AFLEVERING
After ten days in court, the murder trial of David Prevatte has ended in a mistrial, and the circumstances surrounding that decision raise serious questions about jury misconduct and the responsibilities of ordinary citizens entrusted with deciding someone's guilt or innocence. Prevаtte was being tried for the 2017 death of his five-year-old niece, Paitin Fields. What began as an investigation into one juror's comments about the defendant expanded into allegations that other jurors were discussing information never introduced as evidence. Let’s look at how the prosecution and defense responded, why the judge ultimately declared a mistrial, and what this means for Paitin's family. We'll also talk about the importance of jury integrity and why a fair trial depends on jurors following the rules.
