All right, bro, We appreciate you taking the time, man, because today was day one a rookie mini camp.
00:00:20
Speaker 2: For this. That's a big deal, man, a dream accomplished.
00:00:22
Speaker 3: Man.
00:00:23
Speaker 4: How you feeling. I feel great. I'm very just grateful, Like I got so much gratitude because like just to God, because I'm in this position, you feel me.
00:00:31
Speaker 1: So I'm just so grateful. God is good. Man, got it, yes, sir, all the time. And you earned this. You earned it by putting in a lot of work.
00:00:38
Speaker 4: Man.
00:00:39
Speaker 1: So let's go back to that draft night, because that's when it starts. That's when that dream gets going.
00:00:44
Speaker 4: Man.
00:00:45
Speaker 2: Why you saw what I asked.
00:00:46
Speaker 4: About the draft somebody else asking you about this earlier, like just the whole draft night process.
00:00:52
Speaker 3: But what about it? What about the draft night?
00:00:54
Speaker 1: More about the process of what it was like for you, man, because that's a big deal.
00:00:57
Speaker 2: Man. So much is going on, man.
00:00:58
Speaker 1: You surrounded by family, people are telling you are you're gonna go here, You're gonna go there. Man, there's a lot to deal with for a young man.
00:01:04
Speaker 3: Man.
00:01:04
Speaker 2: How are you feeling now that you're on the back end of it.
00:01:08
Speaker 3: Again?
00:01:09
Speaker 4: Just grateful, but like I'm not sure. I've never been over and I don't want to say over enthusiastic because I just don't.
00:01:20
Speaker 3: When you get too high. Yeah, you know what I'm saying.
00:01:23
Speaker 4: Like, it's just like, I'm very blessed to have this life that I live and it's just the next step in my life.
00:01:29
Speaker 1: So during this process, you never know what people are going to pick up. And during your draft video, everybody's going crazy. Bro, you are stone faced, you are locked in now. People will perceive that in a bunch of ways, But to me, I find it interesting this your first time as an NFL.
00:01:45
Speaker 2: Player, seeing house.
00:01:46
Speaker 1: The littlest thing can change perception and make storylines and all that.
00:01:50
Speaker 2: And what was that like dealing with that?
00:01:52
Speaker 3: I mean it was crazy.
00:01:54
Speaker 4: Still, I had to tell my siblings, like really, not even my siblings, my brother's knew what was up.
00:01:59
Speaker 3: Like I'm really cool. I feel good like they knew.
00:02:03
Speaker 4: That's just me. My sisters, like my whole family know that's just me. But my sisters was overly trying to defend me online and I had to tell them just stop letting people talk. I don't care. And my brothers already knew what it was like, I don't care. So it was just like me just in that moment, Like again, I was extremely grateful, and I know it's a blessing to even have my name being thought of being called.
00:02:28
Speaker 3: You get what I'm saying.
00:02:29
Speaker 4: So to have that call, like truly, I say, like, it was just amazing and it's crazy. I was trying to while I was on the phone with the team. I was trying to keep it like away from my family, like who was drafting me? Because like while I was on the phone, everybody started surrounding me, recording and stuff.
00:02:47
Speaker 3: And when I got off the phone, they're like, yo, who was it? Who was it wasn't? I go see just wait, I go see I see just wait. So mind you.
00:02:54
Speaker 4: I was eating some soup at the time, some managed waters go soup. I was eating some soup at the time, and then I got the call and I still haven't finished my suit because the soup was hot and So while I was on the couch sitting and my name got called and my cousin was recording, I'm still trying to eat my soup. I had some food in my mouth and the food hot. Don't just try to keep it pee. I'm trying to just chill, like you know what I'm saying. And then again, like I said, like just seeing it, I know I'm blessed to be in this position, and I know I know it's an amazing thing, amazing feet.
00:03:29
Speaker 3: I just got like it's always something to prove, yeah, for sure.
00:03:36
Speaker 1: So it was a mixture of that, saying, Okay, now they got me to call, I'm gonna make everybody else that missed me these last few rounds feel where I'm coming from.
00:03:44
Speaker 2: Is that kind of where you was at?
00:03:45
Speaker 3: What kind of somewhat like that?
00:03:47
Speaker 4: Again, gratitude all praise to the most high still, but it was definitely like, yeah, like it's some pain for these other teams, you know what I'm saying.
00:03:57
Speaker 3: Yeah, it's just like that. It's just how it is.
00:04:00
Speaker 2: And I think that that's fine too.
00:04:01
Speaker 1: Right Like, as you grow as a young man, right like being locked in being hungry for more doesn't make you any less grateful, right, And I think that that's why I love these kinds of conversations because you can put that.
00:04:11
Speaker 2: Into words that Yo, listen, I'm hungry, bro, I'm trying to get this.
00:04:14
Speaker 1: I love it and I'm grateful what I have, but there's nothing wrong with wanting more. And that's what gets you to this point, you know what I'm saying. So I appreciate you sharing that. Hope I didn't put you on the spot.
00:04:22
Speaker 3: Too now, sorry, it's no problem.
00:04:24
Speaker 2: I mean, man's even came in trying to interact with the vacuum. This was a wild secret of these last few minutes.
00:04:30
Speaker 3: Brothers.
00:04:31
Speaker 1: I just want to say that to you, that it is okay to be hungry more and more you could be grateful and love where you at.
00:04:37
Speaker 2: They still be like, yo, y'all missed out on me.
00:04:39
Speaker 4: Yeah, And that's just how it is. It means life. That's life, brother.
00:04:42
Speaker 1: So I appreciate you being able to share that because you see how things can unravel, how things can go just off the rail so much. And you mentioned your sisters running to have your back, right, And I think that that's beautiful to have a support system because when you're drafted. When you're in that moment, Yes, your life is changing, but you just changed everybody's life that's in that room right now. Man, how has that been Being able to look at your family and say I got us. Now, being able to show your family that you accomplish this goal that you probably set out to accomlish since.
00:05:10
Speaker 3: She was a little kid. Like I said, Bro, what's crazy?
00:05:13
Speaker 4: This goal wasn't like I definitely when I was a kid, one is said I was going to be an NFL player, probably wrote it on a paper in school or something like that.
00:05:21
Speaker 3: But like again, it wasn't really like.
00:05:25
Speaker 4: In my brain that I could really make it to this stage until really like my first year after college, my first year in college, you know what I'm saying, Like I knew like after I got my first offers, Oh I could go to college.
00:05:41
Speaker 3: Oh after my.
00:05:42
Speaker 4: First year in college I did decent and people just getting in my ear telling me, oh, yeah, you can make you do whatever. So then it's starting the process in my brain like oh I can't get to the next level. But again it's always to myself, like I feel like I always got something to prove.
00:05:59
Speaker 3: My closest friend, Malacho Singleton.
00:06:02
Speaker 4: He has this thing since he was a kid as two P something to prove, and he always ran by it and I kind of adopted it just because we always got something to prove, like regardless of whatever. Like let's just say Lebron, like what everybody knows it's Lebron, but Lebron at the age he is, Oh, people going to discredit him if he continuously lose. If he if he loses to this series to Oklahoma, they're going to discredit him. Even though he got nothing to prove, he himself probably still thinks he got something to prove for sure. So it's just always having that mindset no matter what, no matter what feat you accomplished, just you always got something to prove. You always got to be hungry, You always got to clout there. You always gotta achieve what's out there to be achieved, you know what I'm saying?
00:06:52
Speaker 2: For sure?
00:06:52
Speaker 1: Man, Yeah, something to prove as tps. What is just two P as two P that's two piece to prove? So what does Joshua Joseph's have to prove that?
00:07:08
Speaker 3: Man?
00:07:10
Speaker 4: I don't even know if I want to disclose that information.
00:07:12
Speaker 3: Really, Yeah, And it's okay to keep that close to the best.
00:07:16
Speaker 2: Man.
00:07:16
Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna just keep that. I don't even want to disclose that information.
00:07:19
Speaker 2: That's all good. We'll see it on the field.
00:07:21
Speaker 3: Man.
00:07:21
Speaker 1: So my last question for you, because you have your own expectations, but so does this coaching staff. So does a defensive coordinate a defensive lines coach. How have they talked to you about how they see you fitting in this defense and how they plan to use you this shit?
00:07:33
Speaker 4: Excuse me, I mean right now, just the sam excuse me, because they know I'm an athlete. I have the ability to coverage. I've been doing it in college, I was doing in high school. I've been doing this like just thing there my whole life. I've been able to cover in space. You get know what I'm saying. So they've been playing me at the seem right now. They also know about my pass rushing ability, my pass rushing bag, and I feel like I got.
00:08:00
Speaker 3: A good bag.
00:08:01
Speaker 4: I feel like they think I got a good bag. So I just got I feel like I got to show like I'm a dominant past rusher and I'm able to cover good in space.
00:08:10
Speaker 2: That's Joshua, Man.
00:08:12
Speaker 1: We can't wait to see that bro, I can tell you a man if you words, so, I ain't gonna keep hitting you with questions.
00:08:16
Speaker 2: Brother, You've been in practice, but this was day one for you. Man. We really appreciate your time and congrats. Congrats on making it this far.
00:08:23
Speaker 3: Man.
00:08:23
Speaker 1: I know you feel like you still got more to prove, but brother, this is an amazing fee and you did that.
00:08:27
Speaker 2: Man, So congratulations.
00:08:28
Speaker 3: Yeah, Man, appreciate you. Man. God bless you, Brad, bless you brother. Man.
00:08:30
Speaker 2: God is good man, and we'll be here for you throughout.
00:08:32
Speaker 3: The whole way. Brother, no doubt, Thank you. Brother.
00:08:34
Speaker 2: That's her commander's family.
00:08:35
Speaker 1: This is Raise Hell with the Rookies Joshua Joseph's end up building. Man, this has got to be one of my favorite interviews since I've been waiting for the commanders.
00:08:42
