OVER DEZE AFLEVERING
Tie ye kangaroos down, sport. We've got a doozy lined up for you! Apologies in advance for the sprinklings of our sub-par Australian accents dotted throughout, but this is what you wanted! After a brief mundane aside on escalator best practices (3:49), we finally bring back our Pop Culture Country Tier List by traveling down under (8:00). Where will Australia rank on the pantheon? Will it muster enough resolve to crack the podium and rival Japan for gold? Tune in to find out!
We start by postulating about Australian film & tv contributions (13:50) where we share some takes on their top filmmakers, Cate Blanchett's steady ascension to GOAT status and reveal a dark secret about Russell Crowe. Then we ruminate on Aussie cuisine (or lack thereof, sorry mate) (31:20) before attempting to annotate in the margins of their literature (36:30). Our music section is peppered with controversial postulations about AC/DC, the Beegees and, of course, the Wiggles (40:10). We spend the bulk of our last official category praising and lionizing Australian sport (49:15) before presenting some very strong wildcards (58:40). When everything is tallied up, will Australia have done enough?
It would not be an episode worthy of the land Down Under if we did to pay our respects and dedicate it to the great Steve Irwin (1:03:40). Here's to you Mr. Crocodile Hunter. RIP.
