OVER DEZE AFLEVERING
How does your work fit into God's calling for your life? And how can we better recognize and develop the gifts God has given the people around us? Joanna Meyer of the Denver Institute for Faith & Work joins Jim and Martha to explore these questions through the lens of her book, Women, Work & Calling, and the growing movement helping Christian women thrive in their faith, work, and leadership.
Although the conversation focuses on the experiences of working women, its lessons reach far beyond gender. Joanna challenges us to reconsider how we view work, why rest matters, and how our understanding of success can shape our spiritual lives. She also encourages men to become more curious about women's experiences in the workplace and church, recognizing how easily valuable gifts and leadership abilities can be overlooked.
In this episode, you’ll also hear:
Why a biblical understanding of work matters to how we live out our faith
How women throughout Scripture used their work to advance God's purposes
Why work and rest belong together rather than competing for our time and attention
How overwork, performance, status, and even good things like family can become misplaced priorities
How listening to others' experiences can reveal blind spots and open doors for better collaboration
Why developing the gifts and abilities of others is essential to helping people fulfill their God-given calling
