OVER DEZE AFLEVERING
In episode 76 of Global Majority for Peace, Ileana Chan is joined by Dr. Jeyakumar Devaraj, a Malaysian physician, chairperson of the Socialist Party of Malaysia (PSM), and a lifelong advocate for workers' rights and healthcare equity.
Dr. Kumar co-founded Malaysia's only registered socialist party despite a decade of state obstruction and served two terms in parliament. They discuss how liberal Christianity shaped his socialist worldview, the lost spirit of the Non-Aligned Movement, what true sovereignty means, why free trade agreements trap Malaysia from raising wages or protecting local farmers, how ASEAN's 680 million people could become a self-sufficient bloc, and lessons from China, Cuba-Venezuela, and the history of neocolonial coups.
