Crossing Continents - One Step at a Time - David Green

𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸𝘀 𝗦𝟭𝟲𝗘𝟭 𝗶𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲.

I’m genuinely excited to share this one with you. My guest is David Green, a retired entrepreneur, ultrarunner, author, and one of the most quietly determined adventurers I’ve met.

David has run across continents the hard way, on foot, day after day, for months at a time.

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗮 𝗴𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗽𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗲’𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲:

  • In 2018, while running the Caminho da Fé in Brazil, a sickly stray dog chose to follow him for 140 miles. That dog became Lucky, his canine soulmate.

  • He brought Lucky home to Florida, and in 2021 the two set out to run across America, 3,400 miles from Jacksonville Beach on the Atlantic to Muir Beach on the Pacific.

  • Lucky ran with him until cancer forced him to stop in Wyoming. David finished the crossing.

  • He has set multiple Fastest Known Times on different sections of Brazil’s Caminho da Fé.

  • In 2025, he completed a supported run across Europe: 2,859 miles through 12 countries in 99 days, from Porto on the Atlantic to Istanbul on the Bosphorus, officially recognised as a Fastest Known Time.

  • Along the way, David and his wife, Mônica, founded Friends of Lucky Caminho, a nonprofit that supports stray dogs along the trail where Lucky first found him.

  • Proceeds from his book Lucky: A True Story go to the charity.

𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘂𝗽?

A solo run across China along the ancient Silk Road, over 5,200 km from Shanghai to the Kazakhstan border, planned for 2027.

This conversation is about the courage it takes to keep moving when the road is long, when plans break, when loss comes, and when the only thing left is the next step.

It’s about slowing down enough to actually see the world, about the unexpected bonds that change everything, and about choosing a life of purposeful adventure.
