OVER DEZE AFLEVERING
Episode 6
Worship leader Jonathan Hazle joins the Conversation with Ministry Leaders show to discuss building authentic worship bands. First, he emphasizes that worship teams should reflect their congregation, not copy other churches. Instead, leaders must focus on the people God has entrusted to them each Sunday. He also talks about using visuals for worship.
Next, Jonathan explores how song selection, arrangement, and production should match the church's context. Moreover, he stresses that worship leaders should be committed church members. He highlights that only pastors and worship teams get to lead the entire congregation.
Then, the conversation shifts to visual media's crucial role in worship. Jonathan explains how the person running ProPresenter is actually one of the most important worship leaders. Furthermore, visuals can either support worship or become major distractions.
Additionally, Jonathan shares practical collaboration tips. He recommends Thursday run-throughs to check every lyric and transition. Also, he suggests asking production teams for input rather than just giving orders. This approach creates true teamwork instead of hierarchy.
Finally, Jonathan discusses detailed communication strategies. He describes using ProPresenter labels to cue camera operators and technical staff. These labels announce upcoming solos or speaking moments three slides in advance. Consequently, the entire team stays synchronized.
Throughout the episode, Jonathan emphasizes that every screen represents an opportunity to lead people into God's presence. Therefore, churches must be faithful stewards of their visual resources, whether they have one TV or massive LED walls. Ultimately, authentic worship happens when teams work together to serve their specific congregation rather than imitating others.
