OVER DEZE AFLEVERING
In a career spanning five decades, Doug E. Fresh, globally recognized as the Original Human Beatbox, has amassed countless awards for his mesmerizing beatbox abilities, catchy rhymes, signature dance moves, and masterful command of audiences.
The Doug E. Fresh legacy spans generations, as nearly a dozen millennial rappers have written songs in tribute to him, such as the 2009 breakout hit “Teach Me How to Dougie,” which spawned the international “Dougie” dance craze, a nod to moves Fresh created in the 80s.
During this exclusive Conversations With Chad interview, Chad Kiser talks to the iconic Doug E. Fresh about putting together his latest release “This One’s For Chuck Brown”, inventing the beatbox, the enduring legacy of “La Di Da Di”, and the story behind his involvement in Eric B. and Rakim’s Paid In Full album.
He also tells me how the late musical icon Prince was originally going to produce “This One’s For Chuck Brown”, what some of his favorite ways people like Pete Rock and Will Smith have sampled “La Di Da Di”, creating the Get Fresh Crew with Chill Will and Barry B, how he and Slick Rick linked up, and more!
