OVER DEZE AFLEVERING
How can a comedian’s approach to writing jokes help build a technology business? In this episode of Comedy 101, Daniel Lucas speaks with Leanne Linsky, comedian, entrepreneur, and founder and CEO of Plauzzable, a live online comedy platform connecting performers with fans.
Leanne traces her journey from taking her first comedy writing and improv classes in 2001 to moving to New York to pursue comedy. After relocating to California, she found herself spending more time in traffic and less time onstage. That challenge led her to explore online performance, launch an online open mic in 2019, and consider how digital events could help comedians connect with audiences between in-person shows.
Leanne explains how Plauzzable grew from the desire to create more opportunities for comedians and fans to meet online. She discusses how building a business resembles writing and testing a joke: share an idea, listen to the response, make changes, and keep improving the experience for the audience or customer.
The conversation also explores customer feedback, comedy’s evolving nature, and the difference between revising a joke and revising code. Leanne reflects on why entrepreneurship takes patience, experimentation, and a willingness to treat growth as an ongoing process.
