OVER DEZE AFLEVERING
CHECKED is HonestReporting's new weekly live show. Every Wednesday, Ben Chertoff and Joe Truzman take apart the week's coverage of Israel. They look at what got reported, what got left out, and who decided.
Episode 1:
Front Page: NPR gave the head of the World Food Programme six uninterrupted minutes on Gaza aid cuts. We count five things that never came up: who stopped paying, who stole the food, what happened to the famine declaration, who else is starving (Sudan, 25 million people), and who else is delivering aid on the ground.
The Feed: NYC Comptroller Brad Lander goes to the West Bank olive harvest, calls it "ethnic cleansing," gets detained in a closed military zone, and posts about it from the bus. We compare that with what the IDF actually said. And we bring in Matti Friedman's question: why does an olive harvest draw more cameras than entire countries?
Open Cases: Michael Starr, head of HonestReporting's investigative team, walks through our investigation into Palestine Action U.S. That covers the network behind it, the outlets that amplify it, and how designated groups rebrand to stay a step ahead.
Honest Mistake, or On Purpose? Two cases, one ruling each, no hedging. Al Jazeera's "open-air prison" framing, and a Washington Post parenthetical that gave the game away.
Live every Wednesday at 12:30 ET on YouTube, Instagram and X. Follow CHECKED on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
