Bullet Time Bites: First Steps Forward - The Superhero Boom and Did Marvel Finally Crack the Fantastic Four Code?

Welcome to another episode of Bullet Time Bites where we break down the greatest moments and movements in nerd culture. I'm your host and your forever guardian, Dynamo, and alongside me is the return of the fan favourite Hart of Harts, Alex Hart, and today we're looking at Part Two of our Fantastic Four deep dive.

Last episode, we revisited the 2000s films, particularly Rise of the Silver Surfer, examining what they got right, what they got wrong, and how they influenced superhero cinema. Today, we're analysing The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which hit theatres July earlier this year. This episode we've got a lot to unpack. Because here's the thing—after multiple failed attempts to bring Marvel's First Family to screen, First Steps is getting reactions that previous versions could only dream of. Critics are calling it "Marvel firing on all cylinders" with praise for the cast chemistry, retro-futuristic aesthetic, and that instantly iconic score.

But the question remains: Did the MCU finally solve the Fantastic Four puzzle, or are we just experiencing another honeymoon phase before the cracks show?

Let's find out.
