OVER DEZE AFLEVERING
Tampa Bay’s magic number for a postseason berth is still 9.
The Rays began a four game series with the Rangers last night and have now lost 10 straight games at Globe Life Field, dating back to the 2022 season. Tampa Bay lost 6-0, shutout for the eighth time this season.
On the schedule tonight (at the time of the recording and release of this episode) for Texas was right handed pitcher Kumar Rocker (5-10) and scheduled to take the mound at Globe Life Field for the first time is former Rangers draft pick and pitcher for his first four seasons in the show, Nick Martinez (13-4). Trevor Williams, a reliever signed in late August after he was released by Washington, will make his second appearance with the Rangers, first start of the season, and likely give way to Rocker, who will most likely play the role of “long reliever” after getting bumped from the start.
Tampa Bay (83-57, .593, 1st AL East, 1st AL, T-2nd MLB) is tied with Atlanta and Los Angeles (NL) for second best win percentage in MLB and facing Texas (70-71, .496, 2nd AL West, ½ games out of final wild card spot) who is still 2 games behind Houston for the American League West lead.
First pitch in game 141 is at 8:05 PM EDT in Arlington, Texas at Globe Life Field on September 4th, 2026.
