OVER DEZE AFLEVERING
The Tennessee Titans are 0-4 after losing 24-18 to Derrick Henry and the Baltimore Ravens, but this defeat was not simply about being outmatched by a better football team. Tony Pollard could not secure a Cam Ward pass that became an interception and set up a short Derrick Henry touchdown. Brian Daboll called a Wildcat direct snap to Pollard on fourth-and-goal from the 2-yard line, removing Ward from the play before Baltimore answered with a 98-yard touchdown drive. Carnell Tate fumbled after a 33-yard reception, allowing the Ravens to add a 64-yard field goal before halftime. Then Tennessee’s offense produced three consecutive three-and-outs during a second half in which the Ravens failed to score. Austin Stanley and JT Runkie debate which Titans mistake was the most damaging and what it says about Robert Saleh, Brian Daboll, Cam Ward and a team that keeps finding new ways to lose close games. Ward finished 20-of-31 for 222 yards and led a late rally with a fourth-down completion to Tate, a touchdown pass to Wan’Dale Robinson and a successful two-point conversion to Gunnar Helm. Tate delivered the first major breakout game of his NFL career with nine catches for 145 yards, but his costly fumble helped flip the final minute of the first half. The show also examines Saleh’s response to Daboll’s fourth-and-goal Wildcat call. Was the decision itself correct? Why take the football out of Ward’s hands in the most important situation of the game? And why did Tennessee use Pollard on every offensive snap from inside Baltimore’s 10-yard line during its first two scoring opportunities? Finally, Austin and JT address the viral clip of Ward waiting at his postgame press conference before briefly walking away from the podium. What actually happened, why has the clip attracted so much attention, and are people attempting to manufacture another controversy around the Titans quarterback?
