00:00:10.640 --> 00:00:12.240
Hey, welcome back to the program.
00:00:12.400 --> 00:00:13.599
It's a pleasure to be with you.
00:00:13.679 --> 00:00:15.839
I'm glad to get to your phone calls and emails.
00:00:16.079 --> 00:00:25.359
About a dozen hours ago, there was a raid carried out at the home of member of Congress, Ilhan Omar, also a member of the uh Democrat Party.
00:00:25.519 --> 00:00:37.039
Uh, Ilhan Omar is not my favorite member of the United States Congress, although for talk shows like mine, she provides us uh, well, good material on a daily basis, to put it politely.
00:00:37.280 --> 00:00:43.840
Federal agents have raided Congresswoman Ilan Omar's home, but it may come down to her dad's old paperwork.
00:00:44.079 --> 00:00:47.200
Could she lose her American citizenship over that?
00:00:47.359 --> 00:00:55.200
Darren Smallcomb joins me now, who's an immigration attorney and author of Securing America's Future and the founder of Modern Law Group.
00:00:55.280 --> 00:00:55.439
Ms.
00:00:55.600 --> 00:00:57.039
Smallcomb, welcome to the program.
00:00:57.119 --> 00:00:57.840
How are you?
00:00:58.479 --> 00:00:59.600
I'm glad to be back, Lars.
00:00:59.759 --> 00:01:00.240
I'm doing well.
00:01:00.320 --> 00:01:00.560
Thanks.
00:01:00.799 --> 00:01:13.920
So give me your initial impression of the idea that they carried out this raid at Ilhan Omar's house because a lot of us have had uh concerns about the status and the legitimacy of her American citizenship.
00:01:14.799 --> 00:01:22.959
Yeah, that's been a topic of conversation for many years now between uh alleged marriage to the brother, all the way back to her naturalization.
00:01:23.200 --> 00:01:31.120
And it seems to me that a lot of uh time and um effort was put into uh today's happening.
00:01:31.200 --> 00:01:34.719
So they actually did go out and get a warrant from a judge before this happened.
00:01:34.799 --> 00:01:44.000
And to get a warrant from a judge for this type of search, you have to have pretty solid evidence that you're gonna find something specific that's going towards a crime.
00:01:44.239 --> 00:01:46.879
And they did carry out that raid this morning.
00:01:47.040 --> 00:01:59.680
Um, it does seem that they left the um premises with uh boxes of evidence, and it seems that they're hinting at more than anything something to do with denaturalization.
00:02:00.000 --> 00:02:00.640
Yep.
00:02:01.040 --> 00:02:04.879
Well, and in fact, so let me ask you about denaturalization.
00:02:05.120 --> 00:02:17.759
Since she was a naturalized American, most I mean, the the worst crime that an American citizen born here in this country could commit, they still could not have their citizenship removed.
00:02:17.919 --> 00:02:21.759
But somebody naturalized can have their citizenship removed?
00:02:22.719 --> 00:02:23.439
They can.
00:02:23.599 --> 00:02:24.879
Um there's a couple ways.
00:02:25.039 --> 00:02:32.319
Very, very serious crimes um could result in you getting stripped of your citizenship depending on the timing of certain crimes.
00:02:32.479 --> 00:02:43.919
Um, but the one that they would be looking at here, in my estimation, is denaturalization based on fraudulent obtention of the actual citizenship itself.
00:02:44.240 --> 00:03:06.400
And so if somebody were to lie on an application and the end result of that lie or that fraud uh that they're perpetuating results in them getting citizenship, then the government can go back and look at that and say, hey, look, we would have never actually given you citizenship in the first place if we had known or if you had been honest with us.
00:03:06.560 --> 00:03:09.759
And because of that, then they could denaturalize you.
00:03:09.840 --> 00:03:10.960
And that's the most common way.
00:03:11.280 --> 00:03:16.000
I'm talking to Darren Smallcomb, who's an immigration attorney and author of Securing America's Future.
00:03:16.080 --> 00:03:17.199
So let me ask you this.
00:03:17.439 --> 00:03:20.159
Um, that's the thing that had me ask.
00:03:20.319 --> 00:03:37.919
I mean, as much as I don't really care for uh member of Congress, uh Ilhan Omar, uh, I wondered about the raid, because I thought they would have had to go to a judge with something that amounted to probable cause, saying, we expect that there is evidence of this crime in her home there in Washington, D.C.
00:03:38.319 --> 00:03:51.039
What in the world would that be that that she that they might be able to put their hands on that would put a lie to the application that was put in, what, 30 plus years ago to turn her into an American citizen back then?
00:03:51.759 --> 00:03:53.120
Yeah, that's the speculation.
00:03:53.280 --> 00:03:59.759
I mean, what type, you know, what type of evidence would she be carrying around that would uh incriminate her in some sort of a crime?
00:03:59.919 --> 00:04:09.520
And that makes me think that if I were guessing and speculating, I think denaturalization is one of the prongs in which they're uh investigating.
00:04:09.680 --> 00:04:21.759
If I were to guess it to a second, it would be something having to do with fraud um in Minnesota that's been happening over these past years, and that somehow there's some evidence that she would be involved in that.
00:04:21.920 --> 00:04:24.000
That's more current, more likely.
00:04:24.160 --> 00:04:27.839
It could uh amount to financial records or something of this nature.
00:04:28.000 --> 00:04:35.759
And again, I'm speculating, but that seems more likely to me than finding something that was on her father's paperwork 30 plus years ago.
00:04:36.079 --> 00:04:37.600
Okay, and so I'm also curious.
00:04:37.759 --> 00:04:40.720
I mean, you mentioned it because we've talked about it on the show before.
00:04:40.959 --> 00:04:42.240
Did she marry her brother?
00:04:42.399 --> 00:04:44.800
Did she commit immigration fraud?
00:04:46.000 --> 00:04:49.199
Well, there's certainly a lot of evidence to suggest that she did.
00:04:49.279 --> 00:04:51.680
Um, I don't think there's anything that's conclusive.
00:04:51.759 --> 00:04:53.680
It certainly hasn't been proven in court.
00:04:53.839 --> 00:04:58.399
And but here's the thing is as that was the first thing I thought of when I saw the news this morning.
00:04:58.560 --> 00:05:00.560
But when you look at me both.
00:05:01.120 --> 00:05:02.720
Straight minds thinking, Darren.
00:05:04.720 --> 00:05:07.600
But there's a statute of limitations on that crime.
00:05:07.680 --> 00:05:08.959
Uh if there was a crime, you can't do that.
00:05:09.120 --> 00:05:19.759
There is what there is, and it only goes about five years on something like that, unless there was something to perpetuate the crime, like a conspiracy that was ongoing.
00:05:20.160 --> 00:05:29.040
So that happened in 2009, which means the statute of limitations would have run to about 2014, absent anything beyond.
00:05:29.759 --> 00:05:44.000
Hold on, but I and I understand if you could show that it's an ongoing criminal enterprise, hasn't she taken steps since she got into the United States Congress to try to conceal uh uh whether or not she ever was married to her brother or not?
00:05:44.160 --> 00:05:48.399
And could that be enough to consider it an ongoing criminal enterprise?
00:05:49.279 --> 00:05:53.600
I mean, I think it's enough to consider it and bring it to a discussion point.
00:05:53.839 --> 00:06:09.759
But unless she was saying something under oath or in furtherance of her position, for example, uh, I think that would be hard to prove if she was giving like interviews, for example, to the media, saying, ah, this is all a bunch of baloney, for example.
00:06:10.000 --> 00:06:15.120
That probably wouldn't rise to the level of perpetuating an ongoing criminal enterprise.
00:06:15.279 --> 00:06:21.600
Um, but it doesn't mean that it won't be discussed, because certainly, like we already mentioned, it was the first thing that both you and I thought about.
00:06:21.920 --> 00:06:39.519
And of course, now, does it amaze you that there were all these people who had no problem with raids on Mar-a-Lago, raids on the president, raids on uh his attorneys, raids on Rudy Giuliani, raids on all these people, but the minute they raid Ilhan Omar, it's an outrage and the end of civilization.
00:06:40.240 --> 00:06:42.000
Yeah, I read a great quote.
00:06:42.079 --> 00:06:45.439
Um democracy rests on the rule of law.
00:06:45.519 --> 00:06:54.560
And when someone, no matter how powerful they are, is suspected of a criminal act, our justice system investigates charges and convicts them in accordance with due process.
00:06:54.800 --> 00:07:01.519
Now it's up to all of us as citizens and elected leaders to support accountability and follow the facts where they lead.
00:07:01.759 --> 00:07:03.360
No one is above the law.
00:07:03.600 --> 00:07:06.639
And that quote comes from Ilhan Omar.
00:07:07.199 --> 00:07:13.439
And um I think it's a bit ironic that um now the tables have turned a little bit.
00:07:13.680 --> 00:07:22.959
And uh the great thing, though, about this country, uh, Lars, is that generally when it does come to the courts, you do see fairness for the most part.
00:07:23.120 --> 00:07:35.519
Um, and yeah, that's where these things need to take place because these are serious accusations and they need to be put in front of a trier of fact that is unbiased so that the correct decision could be made.
00:07:35.600 --> 00:07:38.800
And that's in all of our interests, no matter what side of the aisle you sit on.
00:07:39.199 --> 00:07:45.680
Well, you know what I'm gonna enjoy watching, Darren, is I know they're gonna be trying to spin this thing like crazy.
00:07:45.839 --> 00:08:08.079
Because whatever it is they may have taken out of her house, and uh, I'm trying to imagine too, if you knew that people were raising the question about the legitimacy of your own citizenship or marriage to your brother or whatever it happened to be, wouldn't you think you would have cleansed your home and all your files and everything else of every single thing that might implicate you in that?
00:08:08.319 --> 00:08:13.040
At least I would think that's what most felonious type people would do.
00:08:13.120 --> 00:08:14.480
That's Darren Smallcomb.
00:08:14.639 --> 00:08:20.959
Darren is an immigration attorney, author of Securing America's Future, and the founder of Modern Law Group.
00:08:21.120 --> 00:08:22.319
Darren, thank you very much.
00:08:22.480 --> 00:08:23.360
I appreciate the time.
00:08:23.600 --> 00:08:26.240
Glad to get your calls at eight six six, hey Lars.
00:08:26.480 --> 00:08:30.079
That's eight six six four three nine five two seven seven.
00:08:30.319 --> 00:08:35.919
Send your emails to talk at Lars Larson.com and you're listening to the Lars Larson show.
00:00:10.640 --> 00:00:12.240
Hey, welcome back to the program.
00:00:12.400 --> 00:00:13.599
It's a pleasure to be with you.
00:00:13.679 --> 00:00:15.839
I'm glad to get to your phone calls and emails.
00:00:16.079 --> 00:00:25.359
About a dozen hours ago, there was a raid carried out at the home of member of Congress, Ilhan Omar, also a member of the uh Democrat Party.
00:00:25.519 --> 00:00:37.039
Uh, Ilhan Omar is not my favorite member of the United States Congress, although for talk shows like mine, she provides us uh, well, good material on a daily basis, to put it politely.
00:00:37.280 --> 00:00:43.840
Federal agents have raided Congresswoman Ilan Omar's home, but it may come down to her dad's old paperwork.
00:00:44.079 --> 00:00:47.200
Could she lose her American citizenship over that?
00:00:47.359 --> 00:00:55.200
Darren Smallcomb joins me now, who's an immigration attorney and author of Securing America's Future and the founder of Modern Law Group.
00:00:55.280 --> 00:00:55.439
Ms.
00:00:55.600 --> 00:00:57.039
Smallcomb, welcome to the program.
00:00:57.119 --> 00:00:57.840
How are you?
00:00:58.479 --> 00:00:59.600
I'm glad to be back, Lars.
00:00:59.759 --> 00:01:00.240
I'm doing well.
00:01:00.320 --> 00:01:00.560
Thanks.
00:01:00.799 --> 00:01:13.920
So give me your initial impression of the idea that they carried out this raid at Ilhan Omar's house because a lot of us have had uh concerns about the status and the legitimacy of her American citizenship.
00:01:14.799 --> 00:01:22.959
Yeah, that's been a topic of conversation for many years now between uh alleged marriage to the brother, all the way back to her naturalization.
00:01:23.200 --> 00:01:31.120
And it seems to me that a lot of uh time and um effort was put into uh today's happening.
00:01:31.200 --> 00:01:34.719
So they actually did go out and get a warrant from a judge before this happened.
00:01:34.799 --> 00:01:44.000
And to get a warrant from a judge for this type of search, you have to have pretty solid evidence that you're gonna find something specific that's going towards a crime.
00:01:44.239 --> 00:01:46.879
And they did carry out that raid this morning.
00:01:47.040 --> 00:01:59.680
Um, it does seem that they left the um premises with uh boxes of evidence, and it seems that they're hinting at more than anything something to do with denaturalization.
00:02:00.000 --> 00:02:00.640
Yep.
00:02:01.040 --> 00:02:04.879
Well, and in fact, so let me ask you about denaturalization.
00:02:05.120 --> 00:02:17.759
Since she was a naturalized American, most I mean, the the worst crime that an American citizen born here in this country could commit, they still could not have their citizenship removed.
00:02:17.919 --> 00:02:21.759
But somebody naturalized can have their citizenship removed?
00:02:22.719 --> 00:02:23.439
They can.
00:02:23.599 --> 00:02:24.879
Um there's a couple ways.
00:02:25.039 --> 00:02:32.319
Very, very serious crimes um could result in you getting stripped of your citizenship depending on the timing of certain crimes.
00:02:32.479 --> 00:02:43.919
Um, but the one that they would be looking at here, in my estimation, is denaturalization based on fraudulent obtention of the actual citizenship itself.
00:02:44.240 --> 00:03:06.400

00:03:09.840 --> 00:03:10.960
And that's the most common way.
00:03:11.280 --> 00:03:16.000
I'm talking to Darren Smallcomb, who's an immigration attorney and author of Securing America's Future.
00:03:16.080 --> 00:03:17.199
So let me ask you this.
00:03:17.439 --> 00:03:20.159
Um, that's the thing that had me ask.
00:03:20.319 --> 00:03:37.919
I mean, as much as I don't really care for uh member of Congress, uh Ilhan Omar, uh, I wondered about the raid, because I thought they would have had to go to a judge with something that amounted to probable cause, saying, we expect that there is evidence of this crime in her home there in Washington, D.C.
00:03:38.319 --> 00:03:51.039
What in the world would that be that that she that they might be able to put their hands on that would put a lie to the application that was put in, what, 30 plus years ago to turn her into an American citizen back then?
00:03:51.759 --> 00:03:53.120
Yeah, that's the speculation.
00:03:53.280 --> 00:03:59.759
I mean, what type, you know, what type of evidence would she be carrying around that would uh incriminate her in some sort of a crime?
00:03:59.919 --> 00:04:09.520
And that makes me think that if I were guessing and speculating, I think denaturalization is one of the prongs in which they're uh investigating.
00:04:09.680 --> 00:04:21.759
If I were to guess it to a second, it would be something having to do with fraud um in Minnesota that's been happening over these past years, and that somehow there's some evidence that she would be involved in that.
00:04:21.920 --> 00:04:24.000
That's more current, more likely.
00:04:24.160 --> 00:04:27.839
It could uh amount to financial records or something of this nature.
00:04:28.000 --> 00:04:35.759
And again, I'm speculating, but that seems more likely to me than finding something that was on her father's paperwork 30 plus years ago.
00:04:36.079 --> 00:04:37.600
Okay, and so I'm also curious.
00:04:37.759 --> 00:04:40.720
I mean, you mentioned it because we've talked about it on the show before.
00:04:40.959 --> 00:04:42.240
Did she marry her brother?
00:04:42.399 --> 00:04:44.800
Did she commit immigration fraud?
00:04:46.000 --> 00:04:49.199
Well, there's certainly a lot of evidence to suggest that she did.
00:04:49.279 --> 00:04:51.680

But unless she was saying something under oath or in furtherance of her position, for example, uh, I think that would be hard to prove if she was giving like interviews, for example, to the media, saying, ah, this is all a bunch of baloney, for example.

00:07:01.759 --> 00:07:03.360
No one is above the law.
00:07:03.600 --> 00:07:06.639
And that quote comes from Ilhan Omar.
00:07:07.199 --> 00:07:13.439
And um I think it's a bit ironic that um now the tables have turned a little bit.
00:07:13.680 --> 00:07:22.959
And uh the great thing, though, about this country, uh, Lars, is that generally when it does come to the courts, you do see fairness for the most part.
00:07:23.120 --> 00:07:35.519
Um, and yeah, that's where these things need to take place because these are serious accusations and they need to be put in front of a trier of fact that is unbiased so that the correct decision could be made.
00:07:35.600 --> 00:07:38.800
And that's in all of our interests, no matter what side of the aisle you sit on.
00:07:39.199 --> 00:07:45.680
Well, you know what I'm gonna enjoy watching, Darren, is I know they're gonna be trying to spin this thing like crazy.
00:07:45.839 --> 00:08:08.079
00:08:08.319 --> 00:08:13.040
At least I would think that's what most felonious type people would do.
00:08:13.120 --> 00:08:14.480
That's Darren Smallcomb.
00:08:14.639 --> 00:08:20.959
Darren is an immigration attorney, author of Securing America's Future, and the founder of Modern Law Group.
00:08:21.120 --> 00:08:22.319
Darren, thank you very much.
00:08:22.480 --> 00:08:23.360
I appreciate the time.
00:08:23.600 --> 00:08:26.240
Glad to get your calls at eight six six, hey Lars.
00:08:26.480 --> 00:08:30.079
That's eight six six four three nine five two seven seven.
00:08:30.319 --> 00:08:35.919
