Now it's time to be dangerous. Now it's time to get risky. Now it's time to truly find out what you're made of and what you could achieve. Now it's time to truly find out how many lives you can impact. Now it's time to find out what you were destined to become.
Speaker 2:
0:15
What up everybody. Welcome back to episode. This is 30, man. We had a check to Raw Minds. I am your host, Eric, and I'm your host, Anthony, and we're a podcast on men's mental health. Yeah, man. Yeah, buddy, it was nice to see Joey last time on our last episode. You know it's bringing back some old memories, definitely so shout out to him.
Speaker 2:
0:36
Yeah man, and just shout out to everybody that's been following us and, you know, just showing us love man, we really appreciate that and we're just amazed of. We're global man, we're around the world, man, and it's amazing. Ukraine, you know, we see you guys watching, you know in our analytics. We appreciate you guys. So thank you for tuning in and being a part of this yeah, yeah, we definitely appreciate it.
Speaker 1:
1:00
Do we want to get right into what we got going on, or what?
Speaker 2:
1:02
fuck.
Speaker 1:
1:03
Yeah, let's do it yeah, so we are collaborating with a company called mad apparel to make a difference apparel. They are working on putting together a sweater for us, a custom like one-off sweater that we're going to be giving away live. When we have more details the sweater is like in the works right now. Once we have more details, we'll let you guys know, definitely, and we'll probably run the giveaway for a couple of weeks, maybe a month. You will have to be in attendance for the episode that we are giving it away on. We also have one of the co-founders, mark, who will be coming on this week. Yes, monday this week. Yeah, he'll be here this week and he's going to come on and tell a little bit of his story and how he kind of got to where he is now. He's actually a really good friend of mine, so I'm excited to have him on and have him tell his story.
Speaker 1:
1:50
We also are really putting in a lot of work in the background in terms of looking at turning this into a non-profit. We want to give back, we want to help in any way possible. Part of the collaboration with Matt Apparel, we're going to be doing our own brand, our own clothing brand, and we're going to give a percentage back to them because their 10-year goal is to build a treatment facility for addicts and alcoholics. So we're going to give a percentage of our sales back to them and 100% of their profit goes towards funding the construction of that treatment center. That's amazing, man, right? Yeah, man, this isn't about making money. It's not about making a profit, right. It's just about giving back to the community and and helping and standing behind what we say, we believe in and what we do.
Speaker 1:
2:36
And we genuinely do care about not just men, like women as well. We care about everyone who struggles with mental health. And we're just kind of here to to share our stories and make you guys understand like it's okay to talk. You know, like we we've all been through shit. You don't have to do it alone and that's that's why we're here. So we're looking at also building a non-profit to be able to donate to some charities and kind of fund this, because a lot of people most people may not realize, like how much work actually goes in to the background of this thing. Like, fuck man, it's thursday, we, we didn't film this week, our, our guest was sick and that's okay. We just kind of roll with the punches. We had to do interviews on wednesday, two interviews and then it's thursday. We're filming an episode and I know you're gonna be up fucking late exporting the episode to make sure it can come out tomorrow.
Speaker 2:
3:26
Yeah, yeah, that's what we do, though.
Speaker 1:
3:29
Yeah, so, like a lot of people, and that's just the putting the work in, like financially, financially, like it takes a fair bit of money to run this thing too, and we just do this shit straight out of pocket. And this isn't us complaining by any means, it's just like it takes some funds right and we work very hard. But, yeah, there's a lot of time and finances that go into this thing. So if we could just build a nonprofit, help out people and fund this journey to be able to continue to put out the quality content that we do, that's all we want to do.
Speaker 2:
4:00
We're trying to build a legacy here, you know, and just help people.
Speaker 1:
4:04
That's what, like you said, man, give them back, right, yeah, forward, yeah. So, with that being said, we are totally okay asking for help. So if there's anybody out there who has experience with operating or building a nonprofit, we would love some insight. So, if you want to hit us up on our email, hit us up at rawmindspodcast at gmailcom. And also, if you want to be a guest on our show, hit us up on our email. Hit us up at rawmindspodcast at gmailcom. And also, if you want to be a guest on our show, hit us up at rawmindspodcast at gmailcom.
Speaker 1:
4:30
Make sure you're following our social media as well. We're Raw Minds Podcast and our biggest platform that we're trying to push right now is YouTube. So if you can just go over there and give us a simple click of the button, you don't even have to turn the notifications on, just follow, just hit the subscribe button it means the world to us, and that that in and of itself is, uh, a big help. So we would appreciate that as well. Fuck, did I forget anything, bro? I feel like I just went on a rant for like three minutes there and right, so you did dude yeah, man it was a good one though perfect.
Speaker 2:
4:57
I think I covered everything you, did you want to talk a little bit about this? This hoodie, though, like, should we give a little bit of a way of like?
Speaker 1:
5:04
you know, yeah, we can do that?
Speaker 2:
5:07
Well, this is your baby man.
Speaker 1:
5:09
You go for it. You know just as much as I do.
Speaker 2:
5:11
Alright. Well, so this hoodie, it's got some special material. It's going to be our brand on it. What's?
Speaker 1:
5:18
it Network.
Speaker 2:
5:19
I think it was like three bills or something like that.
Speaker 1:
5:22
Yeah, like, was it like three bills or something like that? Yeah, but we're giving, yeah, three $350 sweater yeah.
Speaker 2:
5:26
But we are giving it away for free. It's, I think, the same same material that OBO is. Am I correct?
Speaker 1:
5:33
Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's, it's. I think it comes from the same factory as OBO apparel.
Speaker 2:
5:38
So it's, it's a way of saying thank you. Yeah, look out for that.
Speaker 1:
5:50
Other than that man, how you been well, you know, I've been good, I've been good life can I just say this is our first fucking episode together yeah, without a guest man, since like everything that's changed. Yeah, yeah, right that's how crazy busy we've been with with funneling people on to the the show and it was a fluke too.
Speaker 1:
6:13
Yeah, yeah, and just not like. You guys need to understand. Like we're doing two interviews a week on average for guests. We are completely booked through april now and we continue to get emails, like we did two interviews last night and then we got another email this morning for somebody else. Yeah, and there's still some guests that we have to reconnect with who kind of we had to push back a little bit, but yeah and we have one on sunday too.
Speaker 1:
6:40
This, yeah, and one on sunday. Yeah, that's right. Yeah, yeah, so that's a one-off yeah yeah, man, so it's.
Speaker 2:
6:47
It's wild man, when we like this, this is more or less like appreciation. You know a little episode freestyle you know, like I said, it's thursday. We're just, we're just winging it like we usually do, man, but it's just me and you this time. So I appreciate that and it's actually kind of nice to end this. It's a little bit of a little bit of a nice change well, fuck, now we have to carry the conversation.
Speaker 1:
7:07
We don't have someone to do it for us ah, whatever, man we fucked, we've.
Speaker 2:
7:10
I've been doing this for almost two years now, man, it's, it's, it is what it is.
Speaker 1:
7:14
We're good man yeah, that's true, that's true. Oh shit there isn't yeah crazy?
Speaker 2:
7:20
well, I will fix that. And why?
Speaker 1:
7:23
yeah, so I I guess I could just touch on some stuff. So like we are just as human as everybody else and we know we have a lot of guests who come on and they share their stories and they're extremely vulnerable and they talk about how they work through some pretty tough stuff in their life. We are not immune to these type of experiences as well, guys. I got laid off from work a week ago and you know that could have gone one of two ways.
Speaker 1:
7:47
That could have been devastating news or that could have been positive in how I approach it right and for me, you know, it gives me an opportunity to focus on this, focus on the brand that we're trying to build, the nonprofit, and it also gives me lots of time with my kids. Like my kids start March break tomorrow.
Speaker 1:
8:04
They're in bed. They get to spend the whole week with me next week. You know like that's quality time. One thing that I do pride myself on is spending a lot of time with my kids. You know like there's one thing that I've learned over the past few years of my own journey, and that is how much I value the time that I have with my kids. They mean the fucking world to me and they are my light man. Like I fucking love these kids to death. You know, I get to experience a lot of things that I missed out on when I was in active addiction. I get to experience them now and it's great to be a part of that.
Speaker 2:
8:36
And you get to live through their eyes too and you get to do cool things. It makes you a kid. Yeah, that's right makes you a kid. Yeah, that's right, that's right. So young man, to a certain extent like we bought a train and then old makes you old too.
Speaker 1:
8:50
Yeah, yeah, like I remember when we bought them a trampoline I was still with my kid's mom at this point and we bought them a trampoline. I went on there for two fucking minutes, bro and I'm like this does not feel like it used to feel. You know, I'm fucking done after like three jumps, like count them on one hand that's how many I can do and I'm done fuck.
Speaker 2:
9:07
I used to be wicked on a trampoline. I can still do flips. I used to do flips. I used to do knee flips oh yeah, I used to do a bunch of all these crazy shit I used to, like I grow up, I used to have the old orange trampoline and then I had like the big square orange one, and then I had a black one to the circle.
Speaker 2:
9:23
Black one yeah and uh. I had a tree house. This thing was fucking crazy. This tree house had a zip line from the top. It was a four level tree house and at the top it had a zip line from one tree to the other and then it had a rappel all the way down on the the tree house and I used to jump off the fucking thing onto the trampoline man all the time, just being stupid imagine if you did that now.
Speaker 2:
9:44
You'd blow your fucking knees out fuck, I'd blow everything out, man yeah, we're not young, no more bro no, I do I can with my kids, but fuck well, I, I actually, um, about a couple months back, some of the guys were going to go play soccer at the park by my house. I mean, I'm by my house, by my work site, and I go there and these guys are all a lot younger and they're all playing soccer. And then, fuck buddy, I couldn't run, worth shit, man. I was like fucking huffing, puffing. Finally they gave me the ball.
Speaker 2:
10:13
I used to be really good at soccer. They give me the ball and I start running. I slip, hit the ground. I was like holy fuck, I'm too old for this shit. So I had to go sit down. I said, fuck this. Did you play any sports growing up? Hell yeah, man, I was fucking wicked at soccer. I got chosen to go to a farm team in England and two weeks before I was supposed to go I dove, hit the goalpost and dislocated my shoulder. Oof, that sucks Ruined my whole fucking career, man.
Speaker 1:
10:43
No, no, football and hockey were my things. I've been playing hockey since I was three years old.
Speaker 2:
10:48
Man Like ball hockey and ice hockey, just ice hockey, ice hockey okay.
Speaker 1:
10:53
But I still have all my gear. I'm a goalie but I've semi-retired. I semi-retired like two years ago Because every time I fucking play dude, my ankles I can't walk for like three days afterwards, like my ankles are so fucked. I don't know if it's my skates or what it is, but my body just doesn't move like it used to Like. When I'm playing net like dude, I used to be able to do the splits, slide across the ice like fucking glove save, like all this stuff. So my brain knows what my body used to be able to do, so it tries to get my body to do the same shit that it used to. But physically I can't do it anymore.
Speaker 2:
11:29
So I'm all. You're mentally there, but your body's like fuck this shit.
Speaker 1:
11:33
Wake up.
Speaker 2:
11:35
You're not that young anymore. Yeah, yeah, exactly, Definitely man, so let's talk about some shit here.
Speaker 1:
11:41
Let's get into it, buddy.
Speaker 2:
11:51
Let's get in the down and dirty man I would say stress, stress is fucking huge right now that I'm going through.
Speaker 1:
11:53
You know I had that like silent heart attack. Fucking, what last monday was it last monday or two mondays ago? No, I think it was last monday last monday, it was just before joey came on.
Speaker 2:
12:00
Yeah, it was yeah, that's right, yeah, so that that's crazy, it's scary shit man fucking right.
Speaker 2:
12:07
It is man, you know, especially having like a child, you know, and then like, okay, so this really broke me down and then this kind of made me think, after having this, this stress, or this silent heart attack, a buddy of mine I grew up with, he went to school, he passed away. I don't really want it's, I don't, I want to respect him, right. So I won't say how or whatever, but he passed away and he had a young daughter and when I heard this, but he, I just like broke down in tears, you know, because it made me think, you know, friends of mine going up and have to tell my daughter, you know, that her dad will never be here again, you know, and it puts life into perspective, like it's a terrible way to fucking have to find, like, have that realization.
Speaker 1:
12:49
but it definitely does, definitely, regardless of the circumstance. Like it's not, it's a fucking heavy duty thing, no matter what way you skin it man, yeah, yeah definitely.
Speaker 2:
13:03
But so, and then, after having my silent heart attack, you know it's, it's definitely a wake-up call to you know, have some self-love, do some stuff and fix your shit right. And I'm excited because this saturday I'm gonna go have a fucking spa day, buddy, I'm gonna go relax better because I need that shit right I don't think you realize how much you need it.
Speaker 2:
13:25
I know man you might not come back yeah, there's some shit in the background for all you guys listening. I just can't talk about it at this time and moment. But yeah, there's some heavy shit going on and it's just a lot of stress on my plate right now. Yeah, you got a lot going on, it's all good yeah.
Speaker 1:
13:42
And listen, guys. We respect people's privacy too. We want you guys to realize when we have people come on, we allow them to tell their story the way that they want to tell it. We respect their privacy. We don't push for any type of information that they're not comfortable sharing. Raw minds is a fucking safe place, so if you are comfortable sharing your story, feel free to reach out to us at rawmindspodcastgmailcom and come on and tell your story. You like that. That was good. Eh, slid that right in there, that was fucking perfect bro, but don't get me wrong.
Speaker 2:
14:15
Eventually I'm gonna be talking about this shit, but at the moment, right now, to respect of other people, it's just not the right time. We talk about it. You and I talk about it, but it's definitely personal, not for the world right now.
Speaker 1:
14:27
Yeah, Some stuff stays personal yeah definitely. That's totally acceptable. It doesn't mean that he's doing it alone, it just it's not public ready information yet to everybody to everybody.
Speaker 2:
14:39
That's right. But yeah, man, it's so. It's like you know I gotta, I definitely. I see that lacking in mine is, um, having you know, self doing some stuff for myself. What's that called again?
Speaker 1:
14:51
self-care self-care. There it is let me, let me ask you what? What do you do for self-care, like as of right now? Like what would you qualify as self-care that you do smoke a joint before the show?
Speaker 2:
15:04
fucking right.
Speaker 2:
15:05
That would be self-care no I would probably say I like, I love my audiobooks, man, you know, and it's just like being in my own little space and and most of them are like great books, like like how to Unfuck Yourself. I've read that so many fucking times or listened to that book so many times. Or the great, or was it the shit? Fuck, I don't know. There's so many I've listened to and that's probably one of my. Definitely this podcast is self-care for me. You know what I mean. Like I love it. This is what I do. It makes me happy, I get to dive in and it fills my bucket.
Speaker 1:
15:39
I agree. And getting to talk to people and just bounce life off of each other man.
Speaker 1:
15:51
Yeah, but I definitely need to do more shit, Definitely Just for myself. I'm very lacking in that, yeah. So the reason I asked is because I remember when my therapist asked me like what do you do for self-care? So like like I do recovery stuff, and she just goes like this Nope, that's not for you, that's for other people, that's not self-care. I'm like okay, well, I spend time with my kids. Nope, that's not self-care either. I get tattoos, that's self-care. I'm like it's also fucking expensive. She's like something that's a little bit cheaper that's self-care so.
Speaker 1:
16:25
I've been slowly getting back into the gym, something. Not that I dealt with personally, but my brother was just diagnosed. I don't even know if I told you this yet. My brother was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes last week. So my brother owns a construction company and in the winter he does plowing. And he was out somewhere plowing driveways with his truck and someone fucking hit his truck and my dad actually told me how much damage was done to his truck. Today it was like forty thousand dollars, oh wow, damage to his truck, but like ten thousand of that's the plow alone.
Speaker 1:
16:48
And he went to the hospital just to make sure he was okay. Like the accident was bad, but like it wasn't, like physically, like nobody was maimed, you know what I mean. Like it was, it was, but he went anyways. And he goes to the hospital and then they start asking him questions about his heart and they start checking his blood pressure and I can't remember the numbers, but it was obscenely high. So they started doing some testing on him, found out he had type 2 diabetes and, bro, I know you were smashing sour Skittles or Skittles before the show. I drink a zero sugari every time we film, but like my brother eats like shit, like that dude's on the road all day. He'll just hammer a bag of fucking candy into him. Yeah, and it just kind of like made me realize, like man, we're not at that age anymore where we can't not consider how we're treating ourselves.
Speaker 1:
17:34
You know like I booked a doctor's appointment to go in and get blood work done yeah, and like we were talking to uh maggie last night about checking your testosterone levels as well yeah, I'm, I think I'm gonna do that too.
Speaker 1:
17:45
You know, they say, good thing to do they say after 40, like it's highly recommended to go get your testosterone checked because you can get put on trt, yeah, and like people have this big misconception that it's like, oh, you're doing steroids. It's like, no, like your body like is naturally incapable of producing the adequate levels of testosterone Once you reach 40, it's pretty common. So like that's something to look at. And the reason I want to go look at TRT potentially is not because I'm 40, but that's not a, that's not a fucking shot at you either, buddy, but I'm going to be 41, man, what are you talking about?
Speaker 1:
18:20
Yeah, fuck, I'm coming out. We're getting fucking seniors discounts at breakfast, buddy, fucking right. No, I've always suffered with severe depression and I take medication for it, but I'm kind of at that point where I don't want to take medication anymore. So I've been doing a lot of research on like low testosterone and like kind of what it looks like, like how it physically presents itself and a lot of the symptoms. And this isn't me self-diagnosing. For anybody who wants to be a fucking Nazi if they're listening to this, this isn't me self-diagnosing. But I want to go get my levels checked.
Speaker 1:
18:52
But before considering actually taking TRT, there's a lot of stuff that needs to happen in my life, like I'm working on getting my diet right again. I'm working on getting back into the gym, drinking water, going to quit smoking, cutting out energy drinks. You know it's not like go to the fucking doctor, get put on TRT, slamming fucking energy drinks and smoking cigarettes and hoping that I'm going to feel better. I know that's not how it works, so just, it's always something to consider and that's not how it works, so just, it's always something to consider. And when Maggie comes on, I'm sure she'll touch on that stuff too, because there's a fucking word she used last night for that what it's called, because she said her late husband suffered with it.
Speaker 2:
19:28
And I can't remember the term she used. I know what you're talking about, but I never heard that before.
Speaker 1:
19:31
I've never heard of it either.
Speaker 2:
19:33
Yeah, that's why I said it Like wait, wait, what is that?
Speaker 1:
19:35
fucking yeah, yeah, yeah. So it's definitely something to consider if you're middle-aged I don't want to say old-aged, because I don't want to offend people like you.
Speaker 2:
19:44
Yeah, I know, fuck it, it's all. Good man, you can get me a cane for my birthday.
Speaker 1:
19:48
Yeah. Yeah, I don't have we said that on the show yet, so I'll let you tell it, because it's your birthday weekend, bro.
Speaker 2:
19:57
This guy has booked A week off to come down To Vancouver. We're going to meet for the very first time Of my birthday week, so what a fucking amazing present that is. Raw Minds will finally be together. We're going to record an episode At my place in the little studio here. So this is going to be fucking wicked.
Speaker 1:
20:18
My birthday is Aprilil 4th and mine's the 16th, yeah, so so april's gonna be a good month this year oh yeah, you know what's crazy.
Speaker 2:
20:25
My birthday is 4 4 84. Where's the lucky number in my world?
Speaker 1:
20:29
those are angel numbers, is it?
Speaker 2:
20:31
yeah, well, yeah, when it's like, when it's like three in a row, except for 666.
Speaker 1:
20:34
That's a bad one, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, I think it's gonna be a great time. It's gonna three in a row, except for 666.
Speaker 2:
20:38
That's a bad one, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah, well, I think it's going to be a great time. It's going to be a good time.
Speaker 1:
20:42
It can't not be dude.
Speaker 2:
20:44
Yeah, and then we're going to have Owen, right, owen's amazing. You guys are going to meet him. We got him booked in here. I don't really want to bring up more about him right now. That rather our story.
Speaker 1:
21:00
I don't want to ruin that episode.
Speaker 2:
21:01
It's going to be a good one. It's going to be a good one.
Speaker 1:
21:02
He's a longtime friend of yours a massive fucking supporter of the show huge.
Speaker 2:
21:06
He does, actually does some stuff in the background for us.
Speaker 1:
21:08
We love him, so shout out to owen yeah, yeah, he's a fucking great dude and I'm stoked to meet him, man, I'm dude, it's going to be a fucking blast. I got a buddy out there right now and I'm debating on connecting you with him while he's out there. I think he's out there for two weeks. I just don't know where he is. I think he's on the island, but I gotta find out. He actually messaged me back, but we're filming, so I'm not gonna check it right now yeah, yeah all good man, but uh yeah man, yeah, it's gonna be exciting, um.
Speaker 2:
21:32
And then I just want to say we are a men's mental health um podcast, but we do have actually two ladies coming on yes, three three. Actually, you're right three. Yes, we have three ladies coming on, you know, and they're gonna tell a little bit of their story. Um, we have jenny coming up. That's gonna do sound baths man, so that's gonna be pretty cool and we're fucking doing one when I'm coming out there, we're gonna.
Speaker 1:
21:59
That's why I'm bringing this up, man.
Speaker 2:
22:00
So we're gonna go do a sound bath and for any of you that don't know what a sound bath is, I'm probably blanched this but it's like these crystal bowls. I guess you would say, right, and you make noise and like, fuck it. She's gonna be so mad if she sees this episode no, you'll be all right but what it is is like you get, you get.
Speaker 2:
22:20
Imagine like you get a cup of water and you put it beside a speaker and it vibrates right, the water well, that's what the sound bath pretty much is doing. So it's vibrating. We're like 90 something percent water our bodies and it's like you meditation and it vibrates your whole insides and you just feel fucking amazing and uh yeah we're really excited to do that.
Speaker 2:
22:41
So we want to do that before we get to have her on the episode. So so we know what it feels like yeah, man so I'm kind of excited about well, actually I'm really excited about that.
Speaker 1:
22:50
I was gonna say have you ever done any like meditation, yoga type stuff before?
Speaker 2:
22:55
yeah, my friend cc. She used to do meditation circles at her house. Yeah, and like she does meditation walks, I used to go there all the time. As soon as I get to the front door, she would fucking just sage the shit out of me. She's like no, you're not even coming in my house until you get sage. She would, oh, yeah, every time the shit out of you. Oh yeah, man, everybody else they can, they can come in, no problem, but I used to get sage the shit out you had had.
Speaker 1:
23:16
Yeah, no, it was awesome man, it was really good. Yeah, so you're not gonna be like I don't know how I'm gonna approach it, like I know it's gonna work, I know it's gonna be good. But there's still this part of me that's super fucking immature and like has a hard time taking things serious. But it's also like my outlook on life too. Like fuck, like we've all been through shit. We get one chance at this. There's no need to take it all so fucking serious.
Speaker 2:
23:42
Have fun while you're doing it, man.
Speaker 1:
23:44
That's the thing right, I'm a child at heart, bro, I'm probably gonna fucking giggle while this thing's going on.
Speaker 2:
23:49
I'm having a great time. Man See More self-care, self-care, self-healing. Yeah man, all that shit, man, I'm excited actually.
Speaker 1:
24:00
Are you doing any therapy or anything right now?
Speaker 2:
24:03
No, that's on hold right now. To be honest with you, yeah, I definitely got to get back into that.
Speaker 1:
24:09
Yeah.
Speaker 2:
24:10
But just because of everything that's going on in the background, I just, yeah, it's a lot. I'm trying to figure out one thing at a time here and then I'll I'm gonna step back into that, which is nice because I get it through my my business right. So she actually emailed me two weeks ago and I said, probably in april, after the 14th, nice, I'm gonna start that back up.
Speaker 1:
24:33
Yeah, I'm debating on taking another approach to therapy Just because, like when we had Grant on you know, we talked about therapy versus life coaching type stuff. Yeah, and I don't, how can I say this? I feel like I've gotten a lot of information out of my therapist, a lot of quality information, but it's kind of like a relationship, like you know, when it's kind of coming to an end and like can move on to not bigger, better things, but just different things yeah, I think I'm I think I'm at the point where it's like I I want a different perspective or a different approach to to how how I operate, how I'm living my life.
Speaker 1:
25:13
So like that's one thing that I'm gonna look into too. But it's like, fuck bro, like you build up this relationship with this person, you tell them all this stuff and then you got to find someone new. Then you're spending money to tell them all the same stuff that you just told this person. So your first two or three sessions are a fucking wash right out of your pocket because you're not actually getting anywhere. You're just trauma dumping for three hours getting it all out. But I mean, what do you consider too expensive for your own fucking mental well-being?
Speaker 1:
25:42
right like that's in my opinion that's what it is like.
Speaker 2:
25:45
Yeah, it's just money like, if it's gonna, you can always make money man yeah, end of the day yeah, and then people can take money, fuck it yeah all right, the truth, but I mean it's for your well-being, it's for your health, right? Like I'm a huge advocate of therapy I've been therapy in my whole life, right, and I think everybody needs to fucking talk to someone, man, because you gotta fucking get it off your chest you know you hold that shit in and you're just gonna explode and you're gonna either just be grumpy or miserable fuck, or you know you're gonna hurt inside.
Speaker 1:
26:15
Well, you're not gonna have any outlet. And then it it just fucking festers and then it just gets worse and worse. It never gets better. That's one saying that we have in recovery. It always gets worse and never gets better unless you learn how to deal with it and face all of the stuff we deal with in recovery.
Speaker 1:
26:32
We deal with resentments and I think it's the French word I could be fucking wrong, but resentments, and I think it's the French word, I could be fucking wrong, but I think in French resentment means to re-feel old emotions. But what happens is with the resentment, when you feel it and you continue to re-feel it, it gets worse and worse and worse. So by the time you actually sit down to acknowledge the original issue in your mind, it has become 10 times fucking bigger than the original situation ever was. You know, and that's what we do if we don't have an outlet to deal or work through these types of things, by the time you actually get to therapy, recovery, fucking sound bath, whatever it is, the thing that you're facing has turned into this grotesque thing that if it was dealt with immediately, wouldn't have been a fraction of what it currently is. You know what I mean and that's why, like, like, don't get me wrong, we both have personal stuff that we were going through that we don't share on the podcast because it involves other people, and like, we respect people and the privacy of others. Um, but like, that's why we come on here and talk about our stuff, guys, because, like, as much as it is like for you guys listening, it's an outlet for us to to be able to come on and talk about our, our issues and our problems, because we don't want to fucking carry them around. So we give them to you guys, so you guys can fucking carry them around too, but the way you guys perceive it versus the way we perceive it is a lot different. We're offloading it whereas you guys are relating to it. So, essentially, you want to look at it this way. I'll relate it back to recovery again.
Speaker 1:
28:02
One thing I learned in recovery is, like, all of the stuff that I suffered through, those are my fucking best tools that I have today, you know, because I'm comfortable enough to share them. I'm comfortable enough to be vulnerable. So, if I'm comfortable enough to be vulnerable, if enough to be vulnerable, if I'm sitting in a treatment facility with someone who's fresh into, like fresh, trying to get out of addiction and I've said this before, I can get on their level because I can share my experience confidently. But I can also be an example that, like, I've made it through these types of things and it is possible to make it through these experiences, and that's why I feel like you and I work so great together, because we are willing to be that level of vulnerable, not only with our guests, but like when we talk on here right Like that's what makes this thing so great.
Speaker 2:
28:43
Well, I don't give a fuck. I'm an open book. I don't like me too, bro. You know what I mean. I got nothing to hide. What you see is what you get with me, man. Yeah, you don't like it, it's not my problem you know what my favorite saying is?
Speaker 1:
28:55
That sounds like an issue, not an ish. Me Fucking right man.
Speaker 2:
28:58
And you know what People enjoy this shit and we like it. We like being able to do this, we love the emails, we love the support, we love everything that comes with this. You know us doing this and opening up and being vulnerable like this has opened up avenues of you know, know, support and helping each other and other people it's just it's. It's turning into a beautiful thing at the end of the day and it's the continued support too like yeah fergie, we see you, andrea, we see you like.
Speaker 1:
29:28
Yeah, fergie's a fucking og in here, man, you know like she's been a supporter from very before I was here, you know, and it's a really humbling, it's a really fulfilling feeling when we speak to people who share and see the same vision that we have for this thing Definitely being like listen, like I believe in what you guys are doing and him sharing his perspective of what we do through his eyes and him understanding the importance you know, and like we may not be fucking Joe Rogan, but you and I share the same vision.
Speaker 1:
30:08
And to hear it from him and Many other people. Plenty of people, yeah.
Speaker 2:
30:15
Lee, we get all our comments. You know all that shit.
Speaker 1:
30:17
Yeah, like it's a really fulfilling experience to like hear from you guys, so we genuinely appreciate every single one of you, new and old yeah, I'll show you right here.
Speaker 2:
30:29
There we go, like it's beautiful things. You know what I mean. We appreciate you, thank you yeah, yeah, we see you guys like we genuinely appreciate it, yeah so what's, uh, what's in your, your future here, are you gonna, you're gonna, do this counseling thing that you're talking about?
Speaker 1:
30:45
well, I need to get back to work. You know I'm laid off I'm taking the time. I'm kind of taking this time to like re-center myself yeah, just like dietary wise, and back in the gym, you know like, because, like we said earlier on, like this, there's a lot to this aside from filming, right so yeah so between my full-time job being a single father working construction, so it's 50 plus hours a week, my work, my recovery.
Speaker 1:
31:11
So going to meetings sponsoring men like I met with a guy today, I got to meet with him again tomorrow. You know, being a father doing the podcast, there is very little time doing the podcast.
Speaker 2:
31:20
there is very little time A lot man.
Speaker 1:
31:21
Yeah, there's very little time for myself. So the fact that I'm not working right now and I am collecting EI, it's like okay, like don't be a lazy piece of shit, like go do your things. I was up at seven o'clock this morning, took the kids to school, went right to the gym yeah, but you know what man, this guy, sometimes that's self-care.
Speaker 1:
31:39
Sometimes self-care is just laying in your bed and not doing fuck all for the day and relaxing, you know, and just taking that time yeah, that's what it consisted of prior to getting laid off you know like that's what it was like when I didn't have my kids on a weekend, my self-care was literally I don't know if I said this with joey, but like my self-care was literally existing and rotting on my couch, that's what it was.
Speaker 2:
32:01
It was just like what's that called bed rot.
Speaker 1:
32:03
New thing that these kids do is go oh yeah, sit in their fucking rooms all the whole time, yeah no, I'm like, when I talk about that man, I mean like take a day, you know what?
Speaker 2:
32:12
I mean like just fucking take a day, put your feet up and just relax. Man, fucking watch your netflix shows you know that's rich coming from you, buddy.
Speaker 1:
32:20
Huh, that's rich coming from you. Why? What do you mean? You should take your own advice.
Speaker 2:
32:25
I know you're not once in a while, man, I do yeah yeah, I do. You know we're gonna have that podcast takes a lot of work, man. And like, yeah, even dad talks when we, when we were on their episode two, same thing, right they they say, fuck, yeah, man, it's a lot of background work, especially when it's just you two. Like there's other guys, they have producers, they have whole teams doing their shit, but no, we're just a couple of old boys doing their shit. Man, old boys.
Speaker 1:
32:51
Hell yeah, One day we're just going to block each other's phone numbers and we're not going to talk for the whole day I don't think that's ever going to happen. Yeah, yeah hey man, I miss you, it's like reaching out to your next girlfriend hey, long time, exciting man.
Speaker 2:
33:05
Everything we do here is just it's a great time and it's exciting. You know it's a new adventure and we get to do it together.
Speaker 1:
33:13
So it's not, you know, it's just fun yeah, and just like part of the cool thing about talking to people is like learning these new things, like with jenny, like I had no plans on doing a sound bath, but I'm fucking all in for one now.
Speaker 1:
33:26
Yeah, man, you know what I mean. And she said she was gonna like try to make a day of it for us. Like we'll do like a full day thing, like I'm down for that. You know, getting looking at the, the life coaching thing, which is quite a bit of money but Finances don't allow for it right now, which is okay. But you know, just like A whole Whole whack of people From different walks of life and then having like Juan, who wrote a book and he's a marine, you know Just some fucking genuinely cool people. You know, actually, you know who's killing it right now. Have you seen wes lately?
Speaker 2:
33:59
wes is on some videos, yeah he's on a tear, bro he.
Speaker 1:
34:04
He was a keynote speaker last night somewhere in the states. I don't know where he's all over the place. Oh yeah, he's traveling to schools, talking at schools. Friggin laverne starting his podcast I know man you know we're gonna have him back on, we'll get him to come on and promote it. True emotion dad. For anyone who wants to look into it, he's an amazing human being.
Speaker 2:
34:24
Yeah, well, what episode was he on? Fuck, I'm gonna look that up here. Hold on, I'm gonna look that up so we can plug that, so you guys can.
Speaker 1:
34:33
He was. I think he was Just before Wes Cause, joey was still here.
Speaker 2:
34:38
It was season two, though definitely.
Speaker 1:
34:40
Yes.
Speaker 2:
34:40
Yeah.
Speaker 1:
34:42
Was it after Tom? I couldn't tell you. Fuck, I feel like it was Tom Wes and Laverne like kind of all in, yeah he was around.
Speaker 2:
34:52
Laverne was around Ed.
Speaker 1:
34:58
Yeah, he would have been before.
Speaker 2:
35:00
Ed, though, so I think he was episode season 2, episode 9. Yeah, episode 9. It is season 2, episode 9.
Speaker 1:
35:06
Check that out, guys. You're so organized dude.
Speaker 2:
35:09
It's so impressive, fuck yeah I mean, we are raw minds, man. We just fucking go with the flow and you know we're just bullshit and this it's it's. It's nice to be, you know, just real you know, no fake shit, no script shit. We don't. We don't have no questions. I mean, this is just a freestyle episode, man, like there's nothing really that we planned. We're just like fuck it, man. You're just gonna see the rawness and we're gonna bullshit about a bunch of shit. Enjoy it. It's kind of it's not as deep.
Speaker 2:
35:40
you know, it's more or less like a more relaxing, I guess, episode.
Speaker 1:
35:43
you could say yeah, yeah, like, should we give them a little insight of like what it's like to kind of be a guest on the show and like how we do our thing?
Speaker 2:
35:53
Yeah definitely. Yeah, you want me to, yeah, get into it.
Speaker 1:
35:57
No, no, you do it, okay, like the whole process you mean that we go through? Well, yeah, just give them like a general idea of like how we I don't want to say vet people, because we don't it's like fuck do you want to come on, come on in Fuck.
Speaker 2:
36:09
Yeah, we want everybody, everybody, story. It doesn't matter how big your story, how small your story may be big to someone else and small to someone else, but it's still your fucking story. You know, and it, just because it's not hard for someone else but it was hard for you, doesn't make it any different. You know, and that's how we look at it here. Man, everybody has a story. And what a lot, of, a lot of times, man, people will um, email us and beautiful emails, you know, just beautiful, like heart, just heartwarming and and at the same time, though, tragic too. You know, it's like what people gone through, and we usually just set up a date for a interview. You guys email back, we invite you in, we have a video email and I mean a video, uh call, and we just, you know, kind of shoot the shit like this.
Speaker 1:
37:00
Really, you know, half the times we should be recording that shit and yeah, which we're gonna look at doing actually is starting to record the pre-interviews, because sometimes there is a lot of good content in there, definitely, like we want you guys to understand, like how unedited and like how raw we are, like we don't actually get too too much into guest stories when we do the pre-interviews, you know, we just get a little bit of information, just to kind of bullet points, get an idea of where the direction the conversation is going to go when we do the actual episode, and then it's us just shooting the shit for like fuck, like what time did we even get off last night? Oh man, well, we had two yesterday.
Speaker 1:
37:41
Yeah, we ran late for the second one, because we were chatting it up on the first one.
Speaker 2:
37:45
Actually Maggie's in the chat right now.
Speaker 1:
37:47
Yeah, I see that. So, hi, Maggie.
Speaker 2:
37:48
Hi, maggie, yeah, we were. What was it? 9? No, 8, 8.39? Something like 8, 8, 39, something like that. Yeah, yeah, it was around midnight for me.
Speaker 1:
38:00
Yeah, well, you're, you're three hours, you're in the future, yeah, yeah, but yeah, so we'll bring you guys on and like we'll just ask you a couple questions. We, one of the first questions that we ask before we get into anything is, like, is there anything off the table? Like, is there anything you don't want to touch on or anything you don't want us to poke and pry at? Um, and sometimes people have some stuff that they like to keep private and we respect that, like we said, and we don't really push anything. And then they always ask, like, do you guys have any questions that you're going to ask along the way? And it's no Like well, it just lets you tell your story and if questions need to be asked, we'll ask them in the moment. You know, like we want everything to be as raw as possible throughout the process, like a good example would have been Mark the guy you met at the rave.
Speaker 1:
38:40
You know, like I didn't even do that interview cause I was sick that night and some of the stuff he was talking about was getting stabbed in the head and how he fell more in love with his boyfriend at the time and I thought that was a pretty profound reaction to that type of experience and I just said it straight out as he was telling the story like that's, that's a genuine reaction. We don't. We don't have pre-loaded questions, you know. We don't have pre-loaded comments or a direction that we let the guests go in. It's this is you give us 10 minutes at the start and then it's your show and we'll just ask questions.
Speaker 2:
39:12
That's it yeah, we just made. We want you to be as most comfortable as possible, man, and you know we're, we're down to be vulnerable and, and you know, come down to your level or bring you up to ours, whatever it may be, you know, to show you, yeah, man, it's, it's a. I, we meet they're like fuck, that was easy, like that's it, like yeah, yeah, that's it, man.
Speaker 1:
39:39
So it's comfortable. Yeah, definitely comfortable. Yeah, we've had some pretty. We could probably say the thing about peter, no about his producer, before he started. Remember, before we started filming with peter and we got the text from his producer, oh yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2:
39:52
We could say that, because he went off on it anyways.
Speaker 1:
39:55
Yeah, so like. A good example is like when we had Peter on. The guy who got shot 26 times, six times in the head, died, had an afterlife experience.
Speaker 1:
40:02
So season two of 2021-22, great episode, by the way, yeah so when before we had started filming that he's visually impaired, so he had his producer text, eric, and his producer's like hey, just so you guys know, like don't ask about the injuries. Like yeah, yeah, no problem, it's his story, he can tell how he wants. So he started the episode and within 10 minutes, man, this guy's given a full fucking recount of exactly what happened. And I was sitting there with my mouth open for over 20 minutes like my mouth was dry because I was just in awe of this guy's story. You know, like we don't try to pull information out of people, we literally just let them talk. And as soon as that episode was done, the first thing he said after we were done filming is he's like I've never been so comfortable telling my story, ever in my life. I think he said he's never told it to that in that detail.
Speaker 2:
40:52
Yeah. What an amazing story too.
Speaker 1:
40:57
I'm so proud of him and like where he, where he came from and my god man like yeah, and we got to reach out to him and let him know I'm coming down yeah, we definitely, because we're going to be on.
Speaker 2:
41:03
Yeah, check it out, we'll plug him. He's podcast. That's podcast, great guy. He's got he's doing some crazy shit there. He's got some good stuff. It's about crime and stem cells, medical research yeah, really good.
Speaker 1:
41:17
Yeah, he didn't fuck around after he lived through that. He he got his shit together, man, and he's given back in as many ways as he can.
Speaker 2:
41:26
Yeah, I mean, what a journey that that raw minds has, you know, gone through. The people that we've met, you know, know, it's just so amazing and everyone that listens, all over the world and shit, it's just I'm blown away, man, it's pretty amazing. You know, it started off with just two guys bullshitting, having no one watch us to. All of a sudden, you know, being across the world, having guests come across the world to be on our show Well, not coming across, but I, you know, videoing. It's just, it's magical, just magical we've got one coming up from.
Speaker 1:
42:00
Is it australia or new zealand? I see I don't know the difference, but I know that they get offended if you say it wrong, like if you like, call them the one that they're not.
Speaker 2:
42:09
Like if you're from new zealand or australia we have a guest coming from the other side over there and he's coming from the other side of the world.
Speaker 1:
42:17
So we have to figure out the time change. Was it like nine hours or something, or more than that? No man, it's way more than that. Like, when did we do? We did it at night, and it was like three in the afternoon, was it not? Yeah, it was like in the middle of it was in the middle of the next day for him. Yeah, yeah'clock. Yeah, it's crazy man.
Speaker 2:
42:41
Yeah, so we have him coming on in two weeks. That's ryan, right, yeah, two weeks. Yeah, yeah, I'm excited because he he um, actually he would probably be maybe someone to talk to too, man, because that's what he did. He started promoting and doing it like he's got a crazy story and yeah, you know yeah, and maybe we should connect with him.
Speaker 2:
42:57
Yeah, definitely, we're just like I said, this is just a chill freestyle, talking about just, you know, kind of keeping it a little bit light, but it gave you a little bit of vulnerability there at the beginning. You know, we're just, we're just having fun tonight this is what our phone calls are like.
Speaker 1:
43:13
If you guys are curious, this is it.
Speaker 2:
43:16
Yeah, man so what do you think about? Um, what's going on here with just raw minds like what do you think? Do you think that we're on the right, the right?
Speaker 1:
43:27
oh, 100, or I wouldn't fucking be here, bro, like for real man, you know I just want to say I'm proud to do this with you, man Dude, and I will eternally, forever, be grateful for you and Joey for seeing something in me that I wasn't aware of at the time.
Speaker 1:
43:46
I feel like you and I have really grown together in this thing but also found our own strides within this thing in the way that we complement each other. We talk about it all the time strides within this thing in the way that we compliment each other.
Speaker 1:
43:56
You know like we talk about it all the time and we we always have those like little humbling moments. You know where. We forget that people want to talk to us because we have so much fun talking to them. You know what I mean, and it's like holy shit, like people actually want to talk to us we get excited like yeah, yeah, everybody, yeah, man, we get excited.
Speaker 2:
44:13
Oh, yeah, yeah, man, we get excited for it. Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 1:
44:18
I feel like full transparency. There was one guest who we were both kind of like I don't know man, like the emails were weird, and then when he came on he blew us away. Do you know who I'm talking about? Yes, definitely Kelly. Yeah, his emails were a little weird at the beginning and we're like I don't know. And then, dude, I remember leaving that first phone call and we were like we got to call him the love guru, like this guy's fucking sick.
Speaker 1:
44:43
Like you know, like everybody, man, Like everybody, we're so excited to talk to everyone.
Speaker 2:
44:51
Yeah, that was definitely a really really cool episode and it was just what he does, like I think there's only three people in the world.
Speaker 1:
44:59
Dude and stuff pops up on my TikTok all the time. I forget it starts with a G and it's going to bug me Making the puzzles right. Yeah, the wooden puzzle boxes. Custom handmade wooden puzzle boxes.
Speaker 2:
45:11
Yeah, I'm trying to think Was it, was that the season two, episode 12? No, I think that was later on.
Speaker 1:
45:20
It was later. Yeah, quite a bit later, oh 17. 17? Yeah, so that's like over a month later Season, two episode 17. Yeah, look at us just reminiscing on guests, man, yeah man, it's a freestyle Fucking, take it easy.
Speaker 1:
45:38
You know, just give appreciation. Actually, you want to know what else I want to say about this. Like what this does for me is, this keeps me in my healing journey. You know what I mean. Doing this like not just on mondays, not just on wednesdays, but like continually working in this thing. It reminds me to continue to keep digging deeper and keep searching, and my god, I'm dying over here just continuing to keep digging and searching, because there is always, always something to be improved upon. Like what, how, how are we at for time right now? Uh, 53 minutes. Do you want me to get into the relationship?
Speaker 2:
46:12
relationship. If you want to touch on that shit, go for it, bro, yeah I'm cool, I'm cool yeah.
Speaker 1:
46:17
So, like you know, we we do our best to practice what we preach and the way that I work through. A lot of stuff is in recovery and I am not ashamed to admit my shortcomings. And one of the things I've been working a lot on as of recently is my relationships, and not specifically intimate ones, just with women in general. And one thing that I've I've come to realize is like I've struggled a lot for a very long time with relationships with women, and one of the things that I I did within recovery is, you know, I I look back at my all my past with my ex, with my kids mom, with my own mom. I go through all these relationships with women and I remove them from the scenario and I look at what I was doing, what I wasn't doing and really looking hard at my part, and I know this sounds like a lack of self-compassion towards myself, but it's genuinely not. It's just holding myself accountable for my own actions or lack thereof. And the one thing that was a constant throughout every single situation was, for one, I don't have an understanding of what a healthy relationship looks like, and not to the fault of anybody else, just that I've never been in one and I've never contributed to one. So one of the things that I realized, especially looking back at the relationship with my kid's mom for 13 years and with my ex and all the little ones in between or whatever, is I would always put the work in in the beginning and then I would just let my foot off the gas and then it was like an expectation that I would receive all these things, and it was always about taking and never contributing almost greedy in a sense, but without doing my own therapy, practicing recovery, doing this with people that we meet every week. These aren't realizations that I would have come to on my own, and that's why self-care and continued work on yourself is important, because I've done a bunch of work on relationships in the past three and a half, almost four years that I've been sober.

I've talked to therapists, I've talked to my sponsor, I've done work, but the work never ends, it just doesn't. There's always more to dig up, there's always more to learn, there's always more to understand about yourself and understand about your partners, your friends, your coworkers, all of these things. It's a continued effort. It's going to continue for the rest of our lives, as long as we choose to do so. You can let your foot off the brake, but if there's one thing that I've realized, or let your foot off the gas. Sorry, but if there's one thing that I've realized is the moment you start slowing down, you're going to end up exactly where you were before you started. Every single time you're just gonna keep that momentum.
Speaker 1:
48:59
Yeah, you're just gonna fall back into old behaviors and old patterns every single time, and the reason I know that is because I've done that, you know, and I don't want to do that anymore. So the only way forward is on the gas pedal right. So there's a little bit of vulnerability from me and what's going on in my life but yeah, how are you taking charge to go through that?
Speaker 1:
49:19
just taking accountability and and really taking a good hard look at myself and like what I want to bring to the table in a relationship and how to bring it to the table and also you ever think about writing that shit down? Oh, that's how I do it oh yeah, that's how I do it. Yeah, you know, that's how we it's called inventory in recovery.
Speaker 2:
49:36
It's visual too, so you can see it and read it.
Speaker 1:
49:38
The best thing you can do. I think we talked about this with Joey the best thing you can do is put it down on fucking paper. Yeah, right.
Speaker 2:
49:44
Yeah.
Speaker 1:
49:44
That's how we do it Inventory. And the other thing is like understanding that I'm not aware of what a healthy relationship looks like, but being okay with not knowing what it looks like, because if I don't accept that about myself, I'll never be open-minded enough to learn about it. You know, I don't know shit, bro. At the end of the day, I don't know shit like that's. You know, like if I thought I knew everything, you think I would have even considered a fucking sound bath. No, you know, if I thought I knew everything, you think there'd be any point in?
Speaker 2:
50:13
