OM DENNE EPISODE
Diesel just printed a number AAA has never printed before: $6.53 a gallon. Regular is $4.48. That is not a weather report. That is a shakedown at the pump, and if you drive for a living it is eating a whole extra $50 a tank before you even get paid.
Last Wednesday the Fed hiked rates for the first time since 2023. Your credit card just got more expensive. Your car note just got more expensive. And the same crowd that spent years telling you prices were a “vibes” problem is about to show up with a script: blame Trump, ignore the math, sell you a lie that somehow costs you even more.
I’m not going to pretend the pump doesn’t hurt. I’m also not going to let a diesel receipt erase what is actually working. The border numbers. The Laken Riley Act. And a Greenland security deal that slams the door on China and Russia in the Arctic. That last one is not a press release. It’s a lock.
Then we get to the fight nobody wants to have. CIRCLE at Tufts just dropped new data on young voters, and it is not the fairy tale you’ve been hearing about Gen Z going MAGA. We won young men by less than you think. And if the whole strategy is “get them to a ballot box and call it a conversion,” we are already losing them.
I close with two things you can do this week that will actually change your life. Not another lecture. A plan.
The pump is a beating. Trump is not a failure. Both can be true at the same time. If that sentence offends you, this episode is not for you. If it doesn’t, tune in.
