OM DENNE EPISODE
"My Bubbie was my real mother," I share, reflecting on the profound legacy of my grandmother Gertrude who emigrated from Poland in the early 1900s. Her unconditional love created a foundation that shaped my entire life, especially meaningful since my biological mother struggled with what I now recognize as borderline personality disorder.
Grandparents Day awakens bittersweet emotions as I navigate the complex reality of being a grandmother myself. While I cherish memories of my three grandsons, I've been denied access to them, including my youngest whom I've never met. During our time together, I channeled my Bubbies spirit, offering the same acceptance and love that was so transformative in my own childhood. These experiences highlight how grandparent relationships can be both healing and heartbreaking.
At nearly 78, I'm also navigating health challenges, including recent COVID and flu vaccinations that left me with significant side effects. With asthma, these preventative measures remain essential despite temporary discomfort. Throughout life's difficulties—whether family separation or health concerns—I carry forward my grandmother's legacy of unconditional love. That's why I always remind my listeners: "If nobody told you they love you today, I love you because you're you." Join me next time for part two of "I Hated High School" as we continue exploring life's meaningful moments together.

00:00:06.347 --> 00:00:08.208
Morning bitches and dolls.
00:00:08.208 --> 00:00:14.775
If no one told you they love you today, then I love you because you're you.
00:00:14.775 --> 00:00:21.949
Hi, it's Tic Tac Bubby, and today is Grandparents Day.
00:00:21.949 --> 00:00:24.489
Let me tell you about my grandparents.
00:00:24.489 --> 00:00:31.932
They emigrated from Poland in the early 1900s and 1920.
00:00:32.039 --> 00:00:37.612
My Bobby, my grandma, gertrude, was born in 1900.
00:00:37.612 --> 00:01:00.527
And she came here when she was pregnant with my eldest uncle, paul, and she came to this country and she had been the youngest of six kids, four boys and two girls, and she worked in her mother's pickle company shop in a stand in a market, so she was the salesperson.
00:01:00.527 --> 00:01:09.487
She came to this country, she gave birth to my uncle and she started on her journey in the Lower East Side and then Brooklyn, new York.
00:01:09.487 --> 00:01:14.743
If you're familiar with Brooklyn, we all know TikTok Bubby comes from Brooklyn.
00:01:14.743 --> 00:01:20.781
So I just wanted to wish a happy Grandparents Day to my grandparents, gertrude and Harry.
00:01:20.781 --> 00:01:23.406
First of all, my Bubby was.
00:01:23.406 --> 00:01:27.712
There was nobody like her in the world.
00:01:27.712 --> 00:01:29.221
She was my real mother.
00:01:29.221 --> 00:01:42.168
You know, my mother was, I don't know, you know borderline personality disorder, a lot of issues and a lot of anger, with a lot of things that happened to her which she never talked about.
00:01:42.168 --> 00:01:47.156
But my Bubby, my grandma, was my real mother.
00:01:47.156 --> 00:01:51.632
She loved me, you know, unconditionally.
00:01:51.632 --> 00:01:54.930
There was nobody like her at all.
00:01:54.930 --> 00:02:08.188
So I just want to say happy Grandparents Day to my grandparents, harry and Gertrude, or Gittel, ersel and Gittel, hello.
00:02:08.879 --> 00:02:12.680
Okay, now we can move along to my experience with my grandchildren.
00:02:12.680 --> 00:02:14.326
I have three grandsons.
00:02:14.326 --> 00:02:22.471
The first one is 18 and he's going to college, which doesn't surprise me.
00:02:22.471 --> 00:02:26.687
He's a cancer, they're homebodies and they're very smart.
00:02:26.687 --> 00:02:36.486
The second one is born the day before me, max, you know, and he's an incredible baseball player, the youngest one I've never met.
00:02:36.486 --> 00:02:38.145
Why do you ask?
00:02:38.145 --> 00:02:45.091
Because my son and his wife haven't allowed me access to my grandchildren.
00:02:45.091 --> 00:02:48.848
That's their decision, not mine.
00:02:48.848 --> 00:02:53.510
And don't even ask me, don't give me 10 different reasons.
00:02:53.510 --> 00:02:55.262
Have I tried Endlessly.
00:02:55.262 --> 00:03:00.407
I've tried to no avail, so there's nothing I can do about it.
00:03:00.701 --> 00:03:14.288
But when I was with them and it was a dream come true I treated those boys because I had never met the youngest one, sammy that's his name.
00:03:14.288 --> 00:03:28.056
Sammy the way I was treated by my puppy and I treated them the same way, with love and acceptance and allowing them to be who they were meant to be.
00:03:28.056 --> 00:03:35.611
And when they were taken from me, you know, my world changed because I love them so much.
00:03:35.611 --> 00:03:38.782
Nothing I could do about it.
00:03:38.782 --> 00:03:46.048
So I just wanted to wish all the people in the world who are grandparents happy Grandparents Day.
00:03:46.048 --> 00:03:55.567
Love your kids, love your grandchildren, and be there for them, even if you don't see them somehow someway.
00:03:55.567 --> 00:03:59.633
Hopefully, they will know that you're thinking about them.
00:03:59.633 --> 00:04:03.228
Oops, I don't know why that happened.
00:04:03.228 --> 00:04:06.530
That just oopsie.
00:04:06.530 --> 00:04:08.566
I don't know how that happened.
00:04:08.566 --> 00:04:10.513
Woo, a kerfuffle.
00:04:10.513 --> 00:04:14.145
Anyway, I just wanted to say I love all of you.
00:04:14.145 --> 00:04:17.016
Thank you for listening to this podcast.
00:04:17.076 --> 00:04:31.081
Sometimes I'm here, sometimes I'm not, you know, and there are some days I go through a lot of depression I'm not going to lie and I had the COVID and flu vaccines on Friday, so I have not been well the last three days.
00:04:31.081 --> 00:04:36.951
When I had COVID, I had the worst headache in the world and I couldn't sleep.
00:04:36.951 --> 00:04:42.302
Same thing Terrible COVID headache.
00:04:42.302 --> 00:04:44.346
And I didn't even have COVID.
00:04:44.346 --> 00:04:45.468
But I got the vaccines.
00:04:45.468 --> 00:04:46.189
And you know what?
00:04:46.189 --> 00:05:02.709
I'm happy because at my age, almost 78 years old, if I don't get the vaccines, I am sure with my asthma I will get very, very, very, very sick.
00:05:03.089 --> 00:05:07.105
And I don't listen to Robert Kennedy Jr because he has nothing to say.
00:05:07.105 --> 00:05:08.050
That's important to me.
00:05:08.050 --> 00:05:08.694
You know he has nothing to say.
00:05:08.694 --> 00:05:16.091
That's important to me, you know, and nothing to say that's important to anybody, because he doesn't know what he's talking about.
00:05:16.091 --> 00:05:17.446
He ain't no doctor.
00:05:17.446 --> 00:05:20.005
What is he anyway?
00:05:20.005 --> 00:05:21.586
A rich Kennedy.
00:05:21.586 --> 00:05:25.029
Even his own brothers and sisters have disowned him.
00:05:25.029 --> 00:05:27.740
So what does that tell you about a family?
00:05:27.740 --> 00:05:28.588
What does that tell you about a family?
00:05:28.588 --> 00:05:34.774
What does that tell you about someone in the family and his father, who is my idol, robert F Kennedy?
00:05:34.774 --> 00:05:36.901
What would he really think?
00:05:36.901 --> 00:05:41.391
What would he feel about his son and everything that's going on with him?
00:05:41.391 --> 00:05:45.285
You know, disgusting.
00:05:45.466 --> 00:05:55.870
Anyway, I just thought I wanted to come on here and wish everybody a happy, happy, happy, happy Grandparents Day.
00:05:55.870 --> 00:06:06.569
And you know, tiktok, bobby loves you unconditionally, the way my own grandmother, bobby Gittle Bernstein, loved me.
00:06:06.569 --> 00:06:11.755
So if nobody told you they love you today, I love you because you are you.
00:06:11.755 --> 00:06:20.535
I'm still glad I have the access to my podcast to talk about a lot of things that are very important to me as I age.
00:06:20.535 --> 00:06:28.767
I'm going to be talking about, you know, part two of I hated high school in my next podcast, so I want you to listen to that.
00:06:28.767 --> 00:06:31.105
This one is just like a sidebar with.
00:06:31.105 --> 00:06:33.391
I miss my grandparents.
00:06:33.560 --> 00:06:35.706
My papa loved chocolate.
00:06:35.706 --> 00:06:38.848
Like me, he loved Nestle's chocolate.
00:06:38.848 --> 00:06:44.170
He kept it in the refrigerator and I said, papa, can I have some of that Nestle's chocolate?
00:06:44.170 --> 00:06:46.745
Yes, sandra, I'll have it.
00:06:46.745 --> 00:06:47.709
And guess what?
00:06:47.709 --> 00:06:49.567
I took it and I ate the whole thing.
00:06:49.567 --> 00:06:55.187
Anyway, I miss you, papa and Bobby.
00:06:55.187 --> 00:06:56.872
I love you very much.
00:06:56.872 --> 00:07:03.305
I'm looking at a picture of my Bobby right now on my computer holding me as a child.
00:07:03.305 --> 00:07:09.894
Oh, my God, a baby, four months, and I just loved her so much and she just loved me.
00:07:09.894 --> 00:07:16.552
So if nobody told you they love you today, I love you because you're you.
00:07:16.552 --> 00:07:18.384
Be good to yourself.
00:07:18.384 --> 00:07:20.593
Okay, bye.
