00:00:00
Speaker 1: What is up, Mets fans, Welcome back, unfortunately, to another episode of The Mets the Podcast. Yeah, we're gonna rip the band aid off with this one. I'll save you the fun little intros that we normally do. Let's just start talking about the series against the Brewers.
00:00:14
Speaker 2: It was not great.
00:00:14
Speaker 1: It was a bad, bad series. Swept for the first time in this season. We know that the Mets also did not get swept pretty much all of last year. I think go September fourteenth was their first sweep against the Chicago Cubs.
00:00:27
Speaker 2: James Is.
00:00:28
Speaker 1: It's gonna feel weird because I'm not really introing you and I'm not telling people to follow us anywhere. But like I said, let's just rip the band aid off and start talking about what hopefully is the worst series of the entire year.
00:00:37
Speaker 2: I mean, I'd love to say that it can only go up from here, right.
00:00:40
Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it's hard to go down. First two games this series, the Mets didn't score a run and give up nineteen. It doesn't really get much worse than that mus give up. I think it was seven homers in the first two games. They only have they at time of At the time of those two games, only had won the entire season. It really like, there's a million stats, we can say them all now, they're not that much fun. It's just we got just bamboozols in three games in Milwaukee. Two games got bamboozled, one game lost tight.
00:01:03
Speaker 1: And we know that the Mets have a horrendously bad history of playing in Milwaukee. We were talking in the group chat and I was like, every time we go to Milwaukee, it feels like hell, it feels horrible, like it's dark in there. Something about that stadium just bad, bad vibes that I remember. So we asked Johnny Stats, who's not gonna be with us on this episode today. Him and Vido or are out doing holiday stuff right now. But we asked for some stats on what the Mets have been doing in Milwaukee the last few times that they've been there, and when it come out to James that they've lost eighteen of their last twenty one.
00:01:33
Speaker 3: Yeah, the Mets are three and eighteen. They lost twenty one games in Milwaukee and has stretch from twenty sixteen to twenty twenty one where they lost fourteen to fifteen in Milwaukee. So this place just seems to be a place that Mets can't play baseball at all. So I don't even know how, because in that time we've gone through multiple general managers, multiple managers, tons of different players, different owners, and for some reason when the Mets go to Milwaukee we can't do it. Even just the fact that we won two games in Milwaukee last year clinched the playoff berth, that was sixty seven percent of the wins the Mets have had in Milwaukee in five years and seven years actually seven years, Like it's ridiculous.
00:02:07
Speaker 2: Yeah, they just don't play well there. I don't know what it is.
00:02:09
Speaker 1: I know we saw in Game one, I believe it was Jeff McNeil had a problem with the field and they spoke about it a little bit more in Game three that Jeff and Neal made a play that was very similar to the one that he made in Miami where he like slid on his knee to try and grab a ball and like get around it they did in Milwaukee, and when he slid into the ground, his knee basically just got stuck and the grass kicked up and he basically did like a summersault. Could have gotten seriously hurt, though, thank goodness, he did not. It was like a very very awkward looking slide. But he was screaming at the ground, saying obscenities at it and going, no, I've never seen someone so angry at the ground. But then when they asked him, like why was he so mad, he said, I've played here a couple of times and made similar plays, and it feels like the grass in the outfield specifically is not rooted into the ground. He goes, it just feels like there's like just a ton of dirt underneath it and it's basically just laying on top of it, which got to imagine doesn't feel great as a player. Also probably not the reason why the Mets lost that game either, I mean they just, like we said, they played pretty horribly.
00:03:02
Speaker 2: There's no way around it. For sure.
00:03:03
Speaker 3: When that McNeil play happened, that was like a moment of visceral frustration for a team that was already losing by a decent amount, and it kind of felt like, oh no, that doesn't feel good for the rest of this game, and it just bled into the next day and even the next day, I mean not really the next day, because on Wednesday, the Mets digging on the board first first, as they did Star Hoffers cloned Doorg got on the board early. But it was just something was off this whole series. Something was weird. It's something is not Something was just not right. And maybe it was just one of the series where it's just day after day after day doesn't feel right. But also the fact that they did have a pretty significant pitching disadvantage for two of the three games. It was just also the baby Brewers Joey Weimer is Weimer or Whimer Weemer Weimer Weimer. I'm saying Whimer for years, So Joey Weimer, Bryce Terrang, Garrett Mitchell just became murderers Row Garrett, Garret and Ruth from the the Yankees just hitting every single thing out of the park. Bryce Terrang might hit nine home runs some time major League Baseball career. Hear the Grand Slam off Tommy Hunt is still going right now.
00:03:54
Speaker 2: It's it was. It was just crazy to watch this whole series.
00:03:58
Speaker 1: I had a friend text me and they're like, dude, you told me Rice Trang is not that guy like you said you were never about him, Like well, he had like never hit a ball one hundred and nine miles an hour in the air in his life before until he hit that grand slam off of Tommy Hunter, Garrett Mitchell, and Joey Weimer, like I mean, and even Bryce Terrang to a fault, they have all been highly touted prospects. Bryce Garrett Mitchell should have been like a top five pick in the twenty twenty draft, but he has type of diabetes, so he.
00:04:20
Speaker 2: Dropped in it. That's why. And yeah he dropped.
00:04:23
Speaker 1: It was just like the diabetes concerns about his health and everything like that. But he was a standout phenomenal player at UCLA. We got glimpses of it this series where he showed the power. He obviously has incredible speed as a phenomenal center fielder, looks like a very good player for the Brewis future. And Joey Weimer fifth round pick from that same draft out of Universe as Cincinnati. The dude does like very very specific things very well. He runs really fast, throws really hard, hits the ball really hard as well, and like those are all the makings of a good player, and he showed it this series as well.
00:04:51
Speaker 3: I also believe Terrang was either a first or second round pick way back when he was taken these again, like the are these are not it's not murtherers rope, but these are not not talented ball players. We did more in everyone going into the series that the Brewers had made some genuine improvements to this roster during the off season, namely Jesse Winker who we just can't see him to avoid. Wherever that guy winds up, he does something to.
00:05:08
Speaker 2: Kill the Mets.
00:05:09
Speaker 3: Whatever whatever is in Jesse Winkers's brain that allows him to beat the Mets every single time, we as a as society, possibly as a government, should you know, capture it, should analyze it and be able to try and transpose that to other people we need in competition and any anything really in the entire world. Because whatever clicks inside Jesse Winkers's brain when the team on the other side of the field is wearing clothing that just says Mets on it, or New York, when the colors of blue and orange ignites something in his freaking brain, can't they can't stop him. And you just knew every game this series like he's gonna do something, He's gonna do something, He's gonna do something, even he's inevitable against the Mets. And also William con Terreros, who's hitting the ball hard, doing a lot of things. Like this lineup isn't bad. Their pitching staff is good. Their bullpen always has freaky guys you've ever heard of before. We're gonna throw hammers and crazy fastballs and sinkers and change ups and whatnot, and they just there.
00:05:56
Speaker 2: They think they're a good team.
00:05:57
Speaker 3: I don't think they're as goods they were the last couple days and the nine home runs in three games, yeah, and scoring twenty six runs, like that's a little ridiculous. But I think a lot of things went together the series and they just completely downed us.
00:06:09
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:06:09
Speaker 1: The Jesse Winker tweet you put out was funny today about like some way, somehow, we got to find a way to get him on the Mets, just simply so he doesn't have to play against the Mets anymore. It's kind of like when the Mets trader for Kelly Johnson in twenty fifteen. That guy killed us so badly when he was on the Braves or any team. Get him on the team. He's got a little magic. I mean, I don't think the Brewers are gonna be making a move for Jesse Winker right now, especially if they're computing for a playoff spot. Looking this good, he looks like he's a big part of this lineup so far, very very very good player. And you know it stinks Brian Anderson too. I mean, we'll go through it as we go through the game. So Brian Anderson, who the Marlins cut for seemingly no reason, He'd be the second best hitter on that roster, without a doubt. And like, I know a lot of people like, we're giving me crap on Twitter because I said, like, the Marlin's cut for absolutely no reason whatsoever, and basically he said or people were replying like, oh, he was hurt all the time. He was disappointing, and it's like yeah, but like to give up at a guy who was clearly good and had clearly shown talent before, Like, yeah, maybe the change of scenery was also a big thing, and going from a park of Miami to Milwaukee, which is a lot more hitter friendly, But me and you have watched that guy play a lot where like this dude was always a ballplayer. This was someone who was like I can't believe the Marlins of all teams don't want this.
00:07:16
Speaker 3: Guy bran Anderson three home runs the series against the Mets, not even the series. Bran Nenison three home runs and two games against the Mets. He had three home runs lest one hundred and forty played appearances.
00:07:25
Speaker 2: It's like you can't.
00:07:25
Speaker 3: Even make it up. And like he went, he went almost one hundred full play appearances before this series without hitting even one home run, and then it's like it doesn't it didn't even make sense what was happening. He just he looked like he was getting around on the ball so well. You know, you never want to say this, but it did feel like there was an element of this series where they almost knew what pitches were coming, like there was nothing at all surprise them. They were taking close pitches, they weren't chasing anything. Like you could talk a live up to some of these Mets pitchers not looking great and we'll start getting into these games specifically now, but it just felt like they weren't surprised by anything. There's not one thing a Mets pitcher could do to get after them. And that started on Monday after noon and with Carlos Carrasco just going out there and just looking like there was something missing by the time he had left the game in the fifth inning, his fastballs down below ninety His low one was a blow eighty nine miles an hour, and never dipped that low in the spring, and never dipped.
00:08:12
Speaker 2: That low last year.
00:08:14
Speaker 3: He was really laboring through the third and fourth innings and he still went out back there for the fifth and then the floodgates just absolutely opened, which was completely just capitalized by the Bryce terrank grand slam off Tommy Hunter, who really had to wear one on his sleeve that day and pitch a couple of innings even though the boer was just kind of teeing off on him.
00:08:29
Speaker 2: It was a bad show. It was one of those games like I just really hope, can't wait for this to end.
00:08:34
Speaker 1: Games started weird too, because Carlos Grasco on the mountain before he even threw a pitch got a pitchclock violation because he was taking too long, and he was like, oh, yeah, it's my fault.
00:08:42
Speaker 2: Like it was just it was a weird start to the game.
00:08:44
Speaker 1: There was something that happened in the first thing that I wanted to make note of before everything went south, and I was like, oh, this would be cool to talk about when the Mets win this series, stupid me a little that I know they're gonna get absolutely destroyed and swept rushed. But in the first inning, there was a three to two count to Francisco Indoor brand Nimo's on first, and Nimo stole. The pitch that was thrown was very much in the strike zone, like bottom of the zone, but it was without a doubt, like the whole ball was in the zone.
00:09:05
Speaker 2: It was a strike.
00:09:06
Speaker 1: But because Nimo was stealing, William Contreros, who's not a great defensive catcher anyway, had to get up out of his crouch blocked I believe Alan Porter who was doing the game behind the plate, and ended up getting.
00:09:15
Speaker 2: Francisco Lindoor walk.
00:09:17
Speaker 1: So just like one of those cool little baseball intricacies that sometimes you miss when you're not like fully immersed into the game. But I thought it was very cool. Saved Lindor from a strikeout and got us first and second. I didn't do anything though, didn't do anything. As we know, he didn't score any runs the first two games. That was pretty much it. I feel like for the offense in that first game, there wasn't a lot to talk about there. The big story was Carrasco. The velo dropping is concerning, I think, to say the least, like at the end of the day, like you gotta look at it from the outside perspective, and when you see a guy who sits ninety two ninety three, a guy who has been very effective for us in the past, You're gonna have bad starts.
00:09:51
Speaker 2: That's gonna happen.
00:09:52
Speaker 1: Even when you are sharp, even when you're at your best, You're gonna have bad starts in a season. Sandy alcon thro lost to the Mets the other day. Corbyn Burns had a bad start in this series. The best picture in basis two bed starts so far this year. Yeah, arguably the best picture in baseball. So you're gonna have bad starts. But the velo dropping in the way, like you said, it is a very laboring start.
00:10:10
Speaker 2: Something was off. I don't know what it is. I don't know what it was.
00:10:13
Speaker 1: Hopefully it's you know, just kind of going through breaking off some rust of like being in a real game after a spring training that was a little bit weird with World Baseball Classic and everybody coming in back and forth.
00:10:23
Speaker 2: But yeah, we just wasn't sharp from Game one at all. No, really wasn't sharp at all.
00:10:27
Speaker 3: And again you are very concerned with that because Crasco has had some elbow issues last couple of years. He's of course getting up there in age at the lower body issues two years ago. And there's such a big difference between sitting ninety two and ninety three or sitting eighty nine and ninety like, there are some big differences in velocity, and there's some spots wor it's not that much different like Crasco's a guy doesn't have peak velocity anyway, so he's not really gonna ever miss bats with his fastball. But just going from someone who's like in the fortieth percentile on fastball velosity to like the ten percent tile fastball velosity, that becomes, especially without really in elitiately breaking ball at this point in his career, that becomes something where you can just get teed off on whenever really happens. And losing those miles now or all his pitchers down a little bit, his fastball is down the most. That kind of lessens the difference between his changeup and his fastball. His change up is usually his best pitch.
00:11:08
Speaker 2: It's not good. Another thing that happened this game.
00:11:10
Speaker 3: That was really confusing was Dennis Santana, who seemed like he was becoming a bit of a high leverage landing option for the Mets and the Marlin series, pitched for a third day in a row in a game that was ten nothing where I understand that he's probably the back of the high leverage options that were out there and that bullpen between Rayley Autovino, Robertson, even Drew Smith and maybe even John Curtis at this point, but for anyone to pitch third day in row. We really were really excited last year about how this bullpen was managed. The fact that there were so few guys who did pitch on back to back days. See, you got pitched on a third day in a row was kind of weird. And remember Keithan Gary talked about a lot. I was like, Oh, I can't really figure this one out.
00:11:43
Speaker 1: Yeah, I wonder if maybe Dennis Santana's a guy who's like, let me throw, Yeah, like just like let you need someone to throw, let me throw, like I'm good, Like I feel like it maybe could be one of those things as well, just like I got I got bullets left in my arm right now, like I'm good to go.
00:11:55
Speaker 2: Just let me go out there.
00:11:56
Speaker 1: I'll I'll take one for the team right now, and then obviously not gonna which in the next two games, just because.
00:12:01
Speaker 2: That is a lot of pitching in three days.
00:12:02
Speaker 3: Yeah, this that was weird, but that's I mean, we even talked a game one long time. We should have now to go in the game too. Yeah, which was the second game of the series. So yeah, Monday, you know, ten nothing, pretty bad, but Tuesday nine to nothing a little better.
00:12:15
Speaker 2: Better, it's a little better, it's a little bit better.
00:12:17
Speaker 3: We go to talk about Brian Anderson already two home runs in this game. I think Rowedy also hit the home runner too. Garrett Mitchell also had two. One of the home runs by Gary Mitchell is the hardest hit ball off his young major league career, which you know, you love, you love to see the kid.
00:12:27
Speaker 2: Making an impact like that.
00:12:29
Speaker 3: And then the real story here though, is just the fact that Max Shechers just did not look right whatsoever.
00:12:34
Speaker 1: Well, it's like he didn't look right when like when he didn't look right, he didn't look right, But there were things that he still did that I feel like are getting glossed over that like make because there are people that are like, you know, like doom and gloom, like, oh my god, this is a Max schers years old now, like it just happened, but like his slider still had a really good whiff rate, his cutter was still very effective. It's just he was it seemed like he lacked the command that you normally associate with a pitcher like Max Scherzer because the balls that were hit where you see the locations or where they were left, it's like, oh it was it was in the heart of the plate, like they were mistakes.
00:13:05
Speaker 3: The Brewers also did sack this lineup with lefties, and then we know Max Schazer does struggle a little bit more with lefties compared to Riot's because he usually is able to just play off that amazing fastball slider combination. And when he was playing that the best way possible, you can see him really tunneling those pitches so the hitlers just can't tell what's coming until the end. And that wasn't really happening. He had poor command of the slider with out his own a lot and once it were down the middle, and you saw the fact that he probably didn't have feel for that slider because how many change ups he was throwing, which is the pitch that Max uses but doesn't use as much as he was using it on Tuesday night. And it was just, I don't know, he gave up a ridiculous fourteen hard hit balls in this game. That is like when you look at the hard hit balls and Savant, they're like the little flames, like next to a guy's name. They had to extend the box score out and over. It was just they were teeing off on him. That was tied for the most hard hit balls Max has ever given up to start in his career with a game in lace of ten or twenty twenty one against the Padres, and he was with the Dodgers when he was he was kind of like he was basically falling apart the seams that point season arms getting very tired.
00:14:00
Speaker 2: He couldn't really do that anymore. And this is the.
00:14:05
Speaker 3: He throwing that other two games in his career where he at least twelve hard to balls, one of them being the wildcard game last year against the Padres. All these games comes to start twenty twenty one. Three of the four have come since September twenty nine, twenty twenty one, so this is troubling trend. But again, like you say, you still got twelve whiffs, which is I and you only got two strikeouts. I've never seen that many swings and misses with that few strikeouts. Ever, I think the big part is like wasn't getting really that many called strikes, which for some reason really makes me think that maybe they just kind of had an idea of what was coming. Because the velocity was fine, the spin was fine, the movement was fine. They just weren't like chasing after pitches, and whenever a pitch wasn't his own, they were very, very ready to hit it.
00:14:40
Speaker 2: And I think, to clarify, you're not saying like they're doing the astros. I didn't say that. I'm just saying.
00:14:44
Speaker 3: I'm just saying it seems like something like there was a situation a couple of nights ago.
00:14:47
Speaker 2: I forgot who it was.
00:14:48
Speaker 3: I think it was a reliever like the Mariner or something. Someone was tipping pitches like it just happens. The baseball thing happen, like something you can talk about one percent of where their arm is. You can see them thinking like they're baseball players, you know how to do this stuff, and there were a lot of guys on second base, Unsure was on the mound, so like it's possible they were even have the ability to do it that way.
00:15:03
Speaker 2: But I'm not accusing anyone of anything.
00:15:05
Speaker 1: What Sure's are in his first start to used I did not use the PitchCom he went traditional signs.
00:15:12
Speaker 2: It'd have been interesting, yeah, interesting.
00:15:14
Speaker 1: I don't know what he did. I don't I wasn't paying attention what he did for this game. I was too busy, uh, wallowing in what was disappointment at the time.
00:15:21
Speaker 3: And we also had softball, but we were playing softball when we were keeping track of the game on our phones, watching watching live in between innings.
00:15:26
Speaker 2: But it was bad. It was weird.
00:15:28
Speaker 3: And a lot of people are doing gloom right now as sure as are just giving the way last season ended, And I think that is unfair to someone who's uh the future Hall of Famer, one of the best pitches of a generation. I genuinely think that a guy who had the lowest year raves and entire career last year, even though it was only in about one hundred for the innings. So I would give Max Sures of the benefit of doubt as crazy to say, and I would just say I was getting ready for the next one, and then we had the next one and we had to I mean I was happy for a while on this one.
00:15:54
Speaker 2: This so cury more.
00:15:56
Speaker 3: We had the debate on Tuesday night with some of the softball bros. Would you rather it was a game by a lot? It was a game by a little And I think it's very obvious after this series I'd rather lose the game by a lot, because which is opposite the way I was talking the other day.
00:16:08
Speaker 2: Yes, that's what That's what I said.
00:16:10
Speaker 1: At the game, I was like, I'd rather just get the pants beat off of us, so that like end of the day, Like I mean, like you could even see what the guys on the bench. And I think this is something that's important too, is like we noticed this last year and through talking with players, Like remember when we talked to Nido, he was like, yeah, like we see stuff on Twitter and we like laugh and he made a comment about how like Mets fans get like so crazy, like when a team loses a couple games, like it's over, it's and he's like, dude, we know we're good and even Lindor after the game today was like, we know we're a good team, we know we have the factor, we know we got a good lineup, Like this is just like a bad stretch of games. We had a bad stretch last year to end the season.
00:16:41
Speaker 2: I'm bad.
00:16:41
Speaker 1: I'm happy it's happened now rather than at the end of the season. Like now, we just have to make sure that doesn't happen again.
00:16:46
Speaker 2: And for them to not.
00:16:47
Speaker 1: It doesn't feel like anybody's pressing, and there were times where it could feel like a team's pressing and that's like super super bad and not something you want to see. It just feels like they're kind of like we just played like we played bad. That's really what it came down to. We did not play well. I had to censor myself there a little bit here. I didn't want to say no producers in the stream right now. So we gotta be more careful about what's going on.
00:17:06
Speaker 3: But I do I agree with that it doesn't feel like anybody's pressing, but it just does feel like they can't push any of the right button. Like even the way this game started, like you get to run the first hitting off Corbyn burnscis glendor hits a rope down the line, nice RBI. He had his best game of the young season so far with three hits, two doubles, two runs, two ribis. Then the Brewers come back take the lead, and then they storm right back tie the game and take the lead with two big ped Linzo home runs. Finally felt like this was the game where both of those guys got back on track. And those two statistically last season were the best combination of players in any lineup in all baseball. Home runs RBI is everything they were. Maybe they're not anymore because now Banso was gonna play full season. Maniamha though, and those guys in Lewis are pretty good to the two guys in Toronto are pretty good. There's a lot of good combinations. Two guys in Philly are pretty good now. But Mike Trout show guys aren't that bad either. But I will again, these two are as good as like a mill of the other duo. You're gonna have a Major League Baseball or two absolute superstars. And the fact that they were like, all right, we didn't have a good couple of days. We're facing one of the best pitchers in the league today, we're gonna pick everybody up, We're gonna get it together, and it just still wasn't able to get wasn't enough to get them over the hump. It was really frustrating, and a part of that was the fact that David Peterson didn't really have his best stuff today. He was a little bit erratic. Command you just wild. He sailed a lot of fastballs, but in the middle endings of this game, and they were talking about on the broadcast too, for some reason, he just wasn't tugging your shoulder, wasn't following through the right way. But there were too many fastballs that were just high and left high. They weren't really able to pick off the top part of strikes, so weren't even the spot where you can get it hit or even think about swing. It was just like sail, take a step back and not think about it. And then that led to lots of long counts, lots of two twos, three twos, two to ones, three ones. It only had two two counts the entire day, which you just really just hate that. You want to be commanded a little more than that. You need a lot of trouble placing his slitherer just really couldn't put in a spot where it would get meaningful whiffs or get in the spot where he could possibly get a call strike, got one call striker, think on the curveball, and something about Peterson that he still just has this good change up that's kind of falling back to this fastball slider repertoire, and that change up actually did come up really big for him today. Didn't give up a hard hit ball with it, got a lot of whiss and called strikes with it. That was the pitch that really did get him to where he had to get through in this inning, to even get through four innings, get to that fifth inning when it looked very laborious early.
00:19:19
Speaker 2: So some good, some bad.
00:19:20
Speaker 3: I mean, just wasn't a good day. It wasn't This wasn't good place for the mess of pitch. Not a place that the Mets can win.
00:19:24
Speaker 2: Really.
00:19:25
Speaker 1: Yeah, with David Peterson, what I noticed watching the game was, like you said, those fastballs were all sailing high, and usually when that happens, that means your arms kind of lagging behind. It's like two things are either overthrowing or your arms like lagging behind the rest of your body.
00:19:38
Speaker 2: And to be fair.
00:19:39
Speaker 1: Mechanically, it did not look like he was that comfortable on the mound today. Mechanically, it looked like he was trying to figure out where his arm saw it should be when he's supposed to be releasing. Like just everything just felt a little bit off. And when you're a guy who's six foot six or whatever. David Peterson is six foot seven, your mechanics are even more important than when you're a guy. Let's just say, that's a little bit smaller picture we used to have, like Marcus Stroman, who can be a little more I don't want to say fluid in his mechanics, but there's kind of less there's less error that can really affect what's going on with him or David Peterson. If his arm's lagging behind, he's got a huge arm, he has to bring that thing forward, and that would lead to why the slider wasn't really able to locate because the arm was dragging. That would lead to why the fast balls were all missing Hut. Even some of the sliders were missing high, which is something we never see from David Peter.
00:20:24
Speaker 3: So I missed low too, and I think this is something that actually happened to him. The first two innings in Miami last weekend. I talked about that length this week. It seemed like it took him two winnings to get comfortable and then he did settle in. This is just simply a better lineup, So it's a little bit harder to settle in because you kind of have to be more careful. There's seven seven get basically in the series, nine guys in this order who could hit a home run in any given moment, because now Bryce Terra just can hit home runs. Now Gary Mitchell can hit home run, so just had you had to be careful. And there's also probably out the pressure of being the last guy going up but sweep on the line Corbin Burns on the other rubber who we just crushed, and that that makes it all so much more disappointing. And this game kind of fell out of sorts in one instance in the fifth inning when Drew David Peterson came back out to start the inning and we had a little arguing about this off air. I was I was okay with him starting the ending because it seemed like he he didn't like there was no point in this game where I can say like he actually did settle in. So it wasn't like he was pitching well or he was like losing it. Like everything kind of felt similar, like he was just like up and down, up and down, couldn't really do it. But he hadn't actually given up runs and two winnings at this point, and the runs he gave up in the second it was the third, can't remember now. It wasn't like I don't know, the ball wasn't really being smoked. He looked like he was at least finding something. And christianellig was leading off the inning mess do you only have one lefty in their bullpen? Was Brooks Raley who pitched got a kind of hit hard than that before, so we don't know whether or not he was available, so you can, okay, fine this point, let him face the left see if he can get him.
00:21:42
Speaker 2: He didn't get him. That was his fourth walk of the game.
00:21:44
Speaker 3: And now you're bringing in Drew Chains Drew Smith to pitch in kind of like it was only the fifth inning. But this was a high leverage situation because the time we're winning by two, the middle of the other orders up.
00:21:54
Speaker 2: They've been hitting you hard all week.
00:21:57
Speaker 3: And you gotta get them out and he got to a point where there were two outs, so it's a bit of a long ending, a lot of long counts.
00:22:02
Speaker 2: I think he had three straight three and two counts.
00:22:04
Speaker 3: Jesse Winkers, everyone's favorite player, is up first and third, and then something happened that I found kind of frustrating, but less frustrating at the time, more frustrating after the fact of Hindsight's always twenty twenty where we let Luke Voyd to get the second stone base of his career on second, and I think, I really truly think the Brewers were just trying to steal one run at that point because Christian Yellis is an athletic player and he's very heavy, So if you were going to throw that ball down onmar nevas that he probably was just gonna break for the plate.
00:22:29
Speaker 2: So you're in a situation.
00:22:30
Speaker 3: Where you got to get him, and it looks like he just kind of wasn't really paying that much tention to him, because again, you're Jesse winker Up, who is Babe Ruth against the Mets, so you really got to focus on him. It didn't happen, and then Drew Smith just left a three to two change.
00:22:43
Speaker 2: Up right over the plate.
00:22:43
Speaker 3: A guy who throws ten percent change ups, he had thrown three. His entire railing is very clearly is their best pitch, not a pitch I would have called in that situation. And again also probably not even a situation where again we don't know I Brooks Ralia was available. That's something we just don't know as fans on the outside. But Jesse Winker is such stark splits between lefties and righty's. I was even surprised he was starting this game against against David Peterson.
00:23:05
Speaker 2: I keep saying Drew.
00:23:06
Speaker 3: Peters, like, keep making their names together, but David Peters and Drew Smith, David Peters and Drew Smith.
00:23:11
Speaker 2: Yeah, just got to get ingrained into your head.
00:23:13
Speaker 3: It was just it was just an unfortunate sequence that tied this game. And then from that point you were like, ah, this just feels bad. It feels like we kind of they just took our best punch and now we're just kind of they have a very rested bullpen and we have a very leaguered bullpen.
00:23:25
Speaker 1: I was talking to my dad on the phone during this inning and we were just talking. He's like, tell me what's going on. It was like Jesse Winker's up. It's like a three two count man on first or man second and third. And as I'm saying that, I correct like He's like, he's like, what do you do?
00:23:38
Speaker 2: I was like double in the gap. I'm like, I mean, this guy just crushed it too. He's got prime real estate.
00:23:45
Speaker 1: He owns the Mets so much, and I I feel like we talk about like met killers all the time, but Jesse Winker is up there with one of the best. Like for especially a guy who's like like Chipper Jones is obviously the all time met killer. Like everyone knows that happen. He named his he named his kid Shay, Like that's elite level of owning God, Like you tip the cap to an all time great there. I hate Schipper Jones, but that's a great job. Jesse Winker is getting really close. I feel to just like every single time that he has an opportunity to do anything. The guy's a horrible fielder. He makes plays in the field, sliding into the wall, robbing home runs, cat whatever it is. The dude just plays out of his mind when it has to go up against the Mets. It's very, very frustrating. I will say I do like him though. I think he's a kind of cool guy.
00:24:30
Speaker 3: I mean, I just I kind of just respect the hustle, the fact that he can do it consistently. Like if he acted like this and wasn't able to do this on a regular basis, I'd be like, this guy's a loser.
00:24:38
Speaker 2: But he rat. Yeah, he probably still is rap. He just delivers time and time again. Is so frustrating. Like I want him on this team.
00:24:43
Speaker 3: I want I want to stick Jesse Winker in Syracuse for the next ten years, Like I want that guy to suffer through April and my base.
00:24:49
Speaker 2: I want him to be cold. And that's like where he's from. I think he was born in Buffalo. It's up north.
00:24:53
Speaker 3: Anyways, They're good, Yeah, go back there, used to it. Just don't make any money and just don't play against the Mets ever against I'm so done with him. And then this game just lagged and lagged, and like neither offense really did anything between the sixth, seventh, eighth innings, but.
00:25:03
Speaker 1: Mets did not get a hit from the fifth inning onward. So as soon as they got that six runs, they did not get a hit. I think Pete Alonzo's home run might have been the last hit that the Mets got in the game, which is also a little I don't want to I don't know what the word is, but that stinks.
00:25:17
Speaker 3: That's not just thing else. Luke Void made multiple fantastic plays in the field. That guy's never made a play in the entire life.
00:25:23
Speaker 1: Guy's got brand, He's got he There are balls that have been thrown right to his chest that clanks off his glove, and he was making diving plays left and right.
00:25:31
Speaker 2: It was nothing could really go our way.
00:25:33
Speaker 1: And then it all culminated in the ninth inning when Adam mount of Vino came in. We used David robertson the eighth and Adam Mounavino came in the ninth. They also put in Nido in the game in the ninth, which Gary and Keith were like, huh, it's an interesting decision, Like you never really usually switch out a catcher late just to switch, but maybe Nido and out of Vino are more comfortable together. Regardless, the game ended on the on the first batter of the game of that inning through a slider that really just hung, just hung quite a bit. Yeah, take a picture of it. It was hanging and it went right in Garrett Mitchell's happy zone, to which he crushed it and he knew it was gone the second he put back to ball found out that Garrett Mitchell's wife has not been at the last two games. Famous TikTok softball player from the University of Oregon, Haley Cruz Mitchell, Oh, she's not been at the last two games, and he has had three home runs. And basically the joke that they've been running with is she's not coming at any more games.
00:26:24
Speaker 2: No, nor should she.
00:26:25
Speaker 3: Garrett Mitchell looked like Barry Bonds over the last couple games of this series. And I mean Alvino pitched in the nine to nothing game on Tuesday. So being in back to back days like getting that ending in. You want to get guys work when you're losing these games big. But then you kind of think, like, oh, man, I wish you wouldn't have pitched back to back days here, And then I don't know, he's not so good against lefties anyway. We kind of know that about you know, he's he's a fastball, slider guy that pitches a frisbee, but it's just it's much harder to use it. Effectively against lefties. That's kind of his number one shortcoming, but.
00:26:52
Speaker 1: Drops right into that zone that lefties love, low and edge. Like it's just it's still a phenomenal pitch even when it's working. It's it's just really a lot easier for the left us to.
00:27:00
Speaker 2: Hit the righties.
00:27:01
Speaker 3: And then we walk out of this series getting swept. It took almost six full months for the metsica swept last year, and this year it took less than six It took seven games. And that's honestly just it feels it feels weird as a fan, haven't gone through all of last year, like in such a different vibe. It feels like a lot of Mets fans have kind of pulled their mentality from the end of last year into this year. It's less a little frustrating because the average MAS League Baseball seasons about fifteen hundred innings long. When you include the extra innings you get the Mets have played sixty three. It's good for about four percent of an entire season. And there are Mets fans that are freaking out right now, and like, I don't know, it depends on the day whether a fan is more upset at the hitting, at the defense, at the pitching, at the managing. It just it goes round and round and round, never ever goes.
00:27:41
Speaker 2: But that's it.
00:27:42
Speaker 3: We're in a spot right now where it does feel bad because we did get swept by a pretty good team on the road, but there's still no excuse for it. Actually, the Mets even get swept on the road. Oh the metsica swept on the road last year? Just Washington, right, I don't did they even get swept?
00:27:54
Speaker 2: I don't remember. I'm black.
00:27:56
Speaker 3: No.
00:27:56
Speaker 1: I think that was a city field again, Yeah, I guess right, because I think we were at those games.
00:27:59
Speaker 2: We're like, wow, we just gott that's it might not have been swept. That was the liber Day. Serious, the Mets might not have been swept on the road all of last year. Oh Atlanta, last series of the year, of course. Have I forget that one? Well? I know how we forgot that. Well, we we blacked out of our minds. We are like, I mean when we went to the event, we got the water bottles and gave it away. I couldn't have that. I scratched the date off of mine. I still have it, but may get rid of it.
00:28:24
Speaker 3: Juju is in bottom of my desk. I've never used it. I probably get rid of that thing. Might might have to sacrifice.
00:28:28
Speaker 2: You can leave it on the street today.
00:28:29
Speaker 3: And also I was thinking about that series this week, actually not for like the same reasons as most people, just because I remember last year, before any of this mess uff happened, before we knew how season was going to ride out, I had bought tickets and like got some of my accommodations to like a contract. I really wanted to see last year em group by like a lot rufus asoul out in like this really cool venue near Seattle called The Gorge. I only played a few shows there a year. It's like this massive empathy. They're like on a mountain overlooking like incredible lake. It's like apparently like one of the most scenior things in the world. I just I remember, as we're gotting to the end of the seasons, like there's absolutely no way I can go to this concert. I'm not gonna I'm not gonna go there, and like avoid, like what's gonna happen this Mets series. I was thinking about that because this week specifically, two of like my favorite musical musical artists ever in the world. One little too neither like as as even like no Roofs of Solid Jungle. They're this like British like funky pop band to play them when we have like you know, we used to have reports parties all the time. Yeah, and another DJ group called Pretty Lights. It's like one guy then his like ensuing band. One of the main reasons I've ever likedlectronic music in the first place. They, of course, are playing two shows in New York this September twenty ninth and thirtieth Friday and Saturday, when the Phillies are coming to City Field for the last series of the year. I was like, I'm just gonna buy these tickets. I don't know what that series is gonna look like, but like I just have to do it. Like maybe I gotta switch up the juju last year. Maybe I just should have gone to my music and avoided the series. Maybe this year that will just make the Mets play better. But it's funny that this happened in the last like forty eight hours. I got them both and I was thinking, like, wow, why why would' the Mets play the biggest series of the years, like one of my favorite musical are play cool concerts? Like why is that the case? I'm like, whatever, I'm gonna buy these tickets might tell them.
00:29:59
Speaker 2: I I don't know what's gonna happen. I don't know what's gonna happen, but just weird, like dejevo happening.
00:30:04
Speaker 1: I also noticed something from this game too that was interesting about Pete Alnzo was that he hit the two home runs today.
00:30:11
Speaker 2: I had to bring this up.
00:30:12
Speaker 1: Because like when I heard, I was like, Pete, Pete, come on, man, what are we doing. So Pete last year used an axe handlebat. I don't have an example because I never used an axe handle bat, never had one. But essentially, the way that the handle is is more of like if you were holding an axe that you'd be chopping a tree down with. What that's supposed to do is it gives you leverage and makes the bat kind of whip a little bit more. So you can get a really top heavy bat, a heavier bat, but swing it as if it's a little bit faster because you just get a little more leverage, a little more like whip on it.
00:30:40
Speaker 2: So Pete had been using that.
00:30:41
Speaker 1: This year, he switched to a hockey puck knob, and I watched the video by the people who make his bats.
00:30:46
Speaker 2: I believe it's dovetail bats.
00:30:47
Speaker 1: And that is to more evenly distribute the weight so that the entire the bat speed in theory, feels more even and you can get a quicker bat.
00:30:56
Speaker 2: So Petere had been.
00:30:57
Speaker 1: Using the hockey puck knob all year long. I didn't necessary been playing that great. He went back to his old his old axe bad and he get two home runs today. I'm like, hey, Pete, don't change it up. Let's keep it with the axe handle, the thing that's worked your entire career, please.
00:31:09
Speaker 2: And shaved shaved the mustache.
00:31:11
Speaker 1: Yes, and he shaved the mustache too. He kept the beard. Though we saw Pete alonzo beard. I feel like, for the first time ever, he usually just goes with the stash. They had the beard. Do you think he shaves the beard? He played well but they lost. Does he shave the beard?
00:31:23
Speaker 2: No? I think I think you'd probably keep it.
00:31:24
Speaker 3: He hit two home runs, like if he would have hit maybe one home run possibly, but he had two home runs. And also I just went back and checked out here. The Mets were not swept by Nationals. They lost two games of three games. They lost two in a row though, that was that was the big one and they were swept. Yeah, Chicago and Home the series, we were all those games.
00:31:39
Speaker 2: That was. That was miserable. And then the Atlanta series at the end.
00:31:42
Speaker 3: So the Mets were swept twice last year and didn't happen until September fourteenth for the first time.
00:31:47
Speaker 2: Hey, you know what, how did the Mets finished last year? It depends what you ask. They didn't They didn't playoff series, So yeah, not that cool. I don't care. I don't care how many times he get swept, as long as they make the playoffs and win. That's to me.
00:32:00
Speaker 1: Last year, last year they were one of the They were horrible in the regular season. That seam was terrible, and they they're looking pretty terrible right now too. If you any solace is a Mets fan, if you hate the Phillies as much as I do in the city of Philadelphia, at least you're not playing like them. They're one in five going into their next series and have looked atrocious. They can't hit, they can't pitch, they can't do anything.
00:32:20
Speaker 3: No, they can't, and I just something else. I was gonna say I lost it Cubs sweep. I don't know, I can't. I just just this series just sucked. Like I'm drawing all blanks right now.
00:32:29
Speaker 2: It was just it was just.
00:32:32
Speaker 1: Luckily we do have opening day coming up. Yeah, I also love it's I'm kind of okay. I know it kind of foils our plans a little bit here, but I'm kind of okay that Thursday got rained out because maybe maybe the boys just need.
00:32:42
Speaker 2: A little rest. They've been on the road, they've been in Florida.
00:32:44
Speaker 1: Get to get to come back to New York, relax, getting your apartment, getting your house, whatever they're doing, feel like you're at home. Maybe get some good home cooking from the wife or whoever's making the food for you, or make yourself relax or make it yourself. Maybe maybe Markanna, I'm sure is a great cook. If I had to bet anybody, it's gotta be mar Canna. But I like that they're gonna have a little day off and we start on Friday with the home opener. Of course we're gonna be at that game, so you guys know the estimate it's coming up. We're gonna have the video out for you guys after this podcast release that should be out on the New York Mets YouTube channel within some time on Thursday, we assume, or at least before the home opener, we will be doing a live stream though, I believe on Friday, uh with the seven Line at their tailgate. So if you guys want to come hang out and you know, just see the live stream in person, come see us. We're gonna be at the Marina, I believe is where they do the tailgate live stream and talking about the Mets were apparently gonna be you know, on the screen the tell at the stadium too, which will be awesome YouTube, and you'll on YouTube and you'll be able to see whether it's me or James in the tuxedo, which is going to be It's gonna be crazy, it's gonna be uts, it's gonna be us. Someone's wearing a tuxedo to the game.
00:33:44
Speaker 2: Yeah, this's gonna be funny. I'm excited for opening Day.
00:33:46
Speaker 3: I really really wish I would have won this game, just to like dampen the blow a little bit, because I just feel like the Mets fans are more ornery than usual right now. Like what I have have an announced don't nobody, nobody better, but at opening day, someone day, you should be ejected from the stadium like that's like, we don't there's already the name will never be named on.
00:34:07
Speaker 2: This podcast because we're we're better than that.
00:34:10
Speaker 1: But there's there are negative fans that have a following that really really push the negativity around the Mets. And you're allowed to be upset, you're allowed to be angry, but then there's just being stupid, stupid, idiotic, a childish, immature, a baby, I think are some of the words I would describe it as.
00:34:27
Speaker 2: Don't be that. Don't be that.
00:34:28
Speaker 1: You can be mad when they lose, you gonna be upset, but don't bring that negative energy this dame.
00:34:32
Speaker 2: We need.
00:34:32
Speaker 1: We need positive vibes so badly after having one of the worst series we've had in a very long time, and it's at the start of the season. A lot of people are angry, a lot of people are ornery.
00:34:42
Speaker 2: Just just calm down.
00:34:44
Speaker 1: Relax, have a beer at the game, get a hot dog, Enjoy Friday. Is gonna be much better weather than it was gonna be on Thursday. Enjoy the sun if it's gonna be out. No booze though, please, please, for the love of God.
00:34:53
Speaker 3: Do not boo anybody on opening that can I can I give a microcosm for I think how crazy and how poorly Mets fans are probably taking the begin end of the season right now. Yes, so our friend Michael Marino at Marino MLB on.
00:35:04
Speaker 2: Twitter, he's our boy. Also fellow buck guy, shout out, shout out mind.
00:35:08
Speaker 3: He put up a poll today at five thirteen pm which star there will be the best for the Mets the rest of the season. And there were three options in the poll, Sureser, Verlander, Sanga. I want you the guest right now. Make the numbers equal to one hundred between these three guys. How do you think Mets fans voted who is going to be the best star of the rest of the way? Sure saying how do I think it should be?
00:35:32
Speaker 2: Or how do I think it will? Do you think it was? What do you think the results are right now?
00:35:34
Speaker 3: Is only this isn't a crazy sample size three hundred and thirty five votes as of recording right now.
00:35:39
Speaker 2: I want you to guess. Give it gives some ranges even of these numbers, I.
00:35:43
Speaker 1: Think, I mean, I think they picked Sanga first, that I think Sanga is gonna be like thirty seven percent.
00:35:49
Speaker 2: Who you think second? Who thinks they will give me some numbers?
00:35:51
Speaker 1: Gonna go Verlander second and Sureser third will give me. I think they're good numbers.
00:35:55
Speaker 2: I think.
00:35:57
Speaker 1: Verlander's probably gonna be like thirty five, which I think puts me at seventy two, which means shresers like twenty eight.
00:36:03
Speaker 2: I think they're all relatively close. Can I blow your mind right now? You blow my mind?
00:36:08
Speaker 3: You were You're right in your first end sync that Mets fans did vote forty nine percent for Sanyang get.
00:36:11
Speaker 2: To be the best metstar of the rest nine. I mean, Sangle looked great, but.
00:36:16
Speaker 3: That's forty nine just the Marlins listening to us. Nobody, No one ever listens to us now. One next was Verlander at forty three. So now, if you're doing your mental math right now, that left eight was like twelve percent for Max Scherzer.
00:36:32
Speaker 2: What is going on?
00:36:33
Speaker 3: Where are we freaking out? People are really freaking out right now? It was a bad series. But again, yeah, I'm going to give.
00:36:40
Speaker 2: Remember how many games we won in April last year.
00:36:42
Speaker 1: We didn't do anything for us and didn't mean member in October didn't mean anything.
00:36:46
Speaker 2: My friend, I'm a friend.
00:36:47
Speaker 1: I used to be a guy who was like, wins in April matter just as much as September and October, and they do. Theoretically they do matter exactly the same. But at the end of the day, as long as you make the playoffs, that's all that really matters. I don't care when the wins come.
00:36:59
Speaker 2: Trevor Williamson pitching the ninth inning. It's one.
00:37:01
Speaker 3: So the last April things could have been a lot different. I'm gonna go back to that every single time. But it's true, like this team was so good last year in the regular season, everyone was like it didn't mean anything, and I the second I started losing regular season games, like Team Socks, It's.
00:37:13
Speaker 2: Like, you can't have it both ways. You can't be upset about everything.
00:37:15
Speaker 3: I know some people want to be upset a boy everything, And there's a lot of content creatives out there that kind of pushed this narrative that you should be upset about everything. That's what feeds into their machine. And that makes sense, you know, if that's your content Strategy's your content strategy. However, just not gonna be our four percent through the season. Right now, it's April fifth. I don't even think last season started by this date. I think last years opening day was the seventh.
00:37:33
Speaker 1: I know, I think it was like the tenth or the eleventh, because I think I dropped my predictions on April tenth last year.
00:37:38
Speaker 2: I want to say it started like the twelfth.
00:37:39
Speaker 3: Last year the Met's opening day was I was right April seventh, Thursday, April seventh, Tyler mcgilby, Patrick Corbyn April seven. So one year going, the Mets have played zero games, and right now the season's over.
00:37:51
Speaker 1: Season's over, guys, four percent's been played. Pack it up, trade everybody, do that. That's that's the take some people are having. We're not gonna ever have those takes. If you're looking for that from us, I apologize. You're never gonna get us being doom and gloom four percent through the season. We might get upset if we're looking halfway through the season and things are not looking great, but four percent through not gonna happen.
00:38:11
Speaker 2: Something that we do have to talk about to estimate. I lost.
00:38:14
Speaker 1: I lost in the in like the first three innings of the first game between Carrasco Cana William Domez I think, or William co and trez Cott Wan who was three within the first hour. Yeah, of baseball, which unbelievable because I I thought they would like around baseball. I thought it was gonna be a lot tighter. Still happening all over the place, which is crazy. Many Machado got ejected for it, the first player ejected for a pitchclock violation arguing the other day, which is just absolutely asinine that the umpire ejected a player over arguing about the pitchclock, Like, dude, get over yourself. Come on, Ron Colpa, I mean Ron Copa no run run maya copas is how we rose like to say. I mean those umpires know people are paying paying their money to see them. Yeah, that's what just the umpire show. That's what we're here for as baseball fans. We wants to the umpire make a call, but we have to be ooh, maybe that's the estimate punishment. Maybe we have to dress up as an umpire one of the games.
00:39:03
Speaker 2: That's not a bad one.
00:39:03
Speaker 3: I'm I'm I'm still rooting for sing sing the national anthem, so that would be like, yeah, we're gonna run that one up.
00:39:09
Speaker 2: The flagpole. Let you guys know about that.
00:39:11
Speaker 3: We've also gone some pretty good estimate estimate recommendations in the inbox and on Twitter. So if you guys have any good ideas for punishments you want to see Mark and I do after the All Star break, hit us up. My dms are always open. Me's just tweet that met stuff tweeted any of us, like we're paying attention to stuff. I have horses paying more attention Because Mark has seventy thousand followers. I have a little just six thousand followers, so I'm much better chance I see your stuff.
00:39:33
Speaker 2: So I will, I will, I will.
00:39:34
Speaker 3: I will bear that burden of like, hit me up with the punishments and I'll see. It's also better to tell me the punishments because Mark's will be doing them anyway, so it's.
00:39:40
Speaker 2: Better offter you filter them. And that's kind of part of the game.
00:39:44
Speaker 3: But the estimate for this series, again, John's that celebrating right now, so he's not involved. But it's going to be stolen bases in the Mets Martland series. It's a three game series. Jash Cizzo might be hurt. Whose a guy does usually steal a lot of bases. John Birdy's gonna be playing. We all know he'd like steal based against the Mets. Marta has been very active on the bass pass early. We haven't seen Fiscal Indoor get active on the base pass early, but I'm sure he will get there.
00:40:06
Speaker 2: And this team's gonna have to win some games.
00:40:08
Speaker 3: I think they might be pretty aggressive, so stolen bases this series three games.
00:40:13
Speaker 1: You know we were talking about that, we get to see Jazz Chishom play center field against Early twice.
00:40:18
Speaker 2: He's gonna be hurt. They're gonna play real center field. Make that one. I mean, we've got an unbelievable talent at.
00:40:24
Speaker 1: This like crazy, it's truly special. It's it's let me let me crunch some numbers here, Okay, I like that.
00:40:30
Speaker 2: I like that. Like what I'm seeing. I'm crunching numbers. Not that guy. I'm gonna go with, well, don't say it. How many games Mets have played? Seven games? Mets have played seven games.
00:40:39
Speaker 1: Mets have played seven games, and I think the Marlins have played six seven they played seven as well. I'm gonna go with this number right here. I wrote it so small on those piece of paper I got shocking. At least I got my white board out. I'm pretty excited about it, honestly.
00:40:52
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:40:53
Speaker 1: I mean that's pretty official. So or we're just gonna go three to one when you're ready, three two one, flip bang.
00:41:00
Speaker 3: Oh all right, okay, now what precedential?
00:41:07
Speaker 1: The first time we do an estimate without the guy who created it, John, the guy who'd be able to come up with a tie breaker, we come up with the exact same number.
00:41:15
Speaker 2: This unbelievable.
00:41:17
Speaker 1: You want to want to say, who does the who gets the first stolen base?
00:41:20
Speaker 2: Maybe?
00:41:20
Speaker 3: Well I was going to say it was gonna be kind of maybe who gets like what team gets for a stolen base player?
00:41:26
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I guess it could just be then we're both wrong.
00:41:28
Speaker 3: That's the one and oh god, I think what we should do now is we should add on what we what was the last estimate, which is pitchclock violation.
00:41:37
Speaker 2: Add that number to this number. Okay, so I have six and you have seven.
00:41:43
Speaker 3: Yeah, so and we've I've got cool down putting both of those together, pitchcock violations and stolen bases.
00:41:49
Speaker 2: Oh right, m hmm. You don't like that one? We do? You have an idea? This great podcast.
00:41:55
Speaker 1: I think we I think I think we just add we have to add something to stolen basis, so stolen bases plus.
00:42:02
Speaker 2: I have an idea. Okay, actually it's not gonna help at all.
00:42:04
Speaker 3: I was gonna say every uh stealing third counts is too, but hasn't helped us all.
00:42:10
Speaker 2: We have the same solution. God damn, there's.
00:42:12
Speaker 1: No solution to this. You want to know why I picked four. Two Mets have stole six stolen bases this year. The Marlins have stold too. I picked the number right in the mists. I'd picked four because I thought you would pick five. Interesting, you know we could do.
00:42:23
Speaker 2: Here's what we could do. What we do is a solution.
00:42:25
Speaker 3: We are going to have another podcast that comes out Friday, sometime before the Mets play a game. We could add some estimate to that. Maybe we can get Darren involved. Maybe there could be some kind of activity we do with the seven lines to maybe put something out with this. We could have a conversation with John in between them. Because now there's just bad podcasting as confused of a pre tie breaker.
00:42:44
Speaker 2: This is why the producers need to be around. This is why we can't do this by ourselves. James. No, yes, this is exactly why. Yeah, it was a nightmare. This is a nice right.
00:42:52
Speaker 3: Also, I don't even I mean, we're gonna preview the series and especially Friday's game much more so in the live stream Friday this we guys make sure you check out out you get the series preview. It's also gonna come out as a podcast, probably right away when that game's even going on. So just you could play in the background, maybe just maybe just dim dim Gary keithan Ryn a little bit, play us in the background for the first two winnings. It will only be about twenty thirty minutes, so easy. Get out with Darren from the seven line too, if you guys keep track of him, follow him.
00:43:16
Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't really have another answer right now to do this.
00:43:18
Speaker 1: I mean, we could just talk about the Marlin series briefly real quick, because like we said, we're gonna do it a little bit more in depth in the live stream.
00:43:25
Speaker 2: That will be an episode. Uh. Pitching matchups.
00:43:27
Speaker 1: Tyler McGill is still pitching the home opener, which has now moved to Friday, so it should be McGill.
00:43:32
Speaker 2: Then it's going to be Senga, right yep. And then Carrasco.
00:43:37
Speaker 3: I guess yeah, I mean that's that's who would make sense. Krasco would be a Sunday.
00:43:40
Speaker 2: Guy, so Crasco would be Sunday.
00:43:42
Speaker 1: And then for the Marlins, they just went Alcantra and Lizardo. So their next pitcher should be who pitch today from them? Trevor ro or No today was Lozardo?
00:43:49
Speaker 3: Yeah, so is it to be? Those are the two we're going to miss, which is pretty cool?
00:43:53
Speaker 2: Yes, which is nice?
00:43:54
Speaker 3: Love that love that good good juju right there. Then we're gonna see Trevor Rodgers. I know Johnny Quid left the last start with an I was not sure if his status. And who's last guy in the rotation we can't think of right now.
00:44:04
Speaker 2: Edward Cabrera.
00:44:05
Speaker 3: Edward Cabrera, all right, so I guess I guess we're gonna Edward the Edward versus Miguil on Friday.
00:44:10
Speaker 1: And Daniel Castanio is back up, so that will probably be the other starter, because I'm looking at their active roster right now. I think Braxing Garrett got sent down. He was pitched out of the bullpen last week, so maybe Okay, so I think it's it will be a combination of either Braxing Garrett or Daniel Castanotania pitching in Castano or is it does he got the little Okay, yeah, Daniel Kastanio, big card guy apparently.
00:44:34
Speaker 2: Fun fact.
00:44:34
Speaker 1: Also, when we were walking in the tunnel last year, so I'm taking a phone call, he answered a phone call from like a spam telemarket and he was very he was he was astonished, like, I'd you get this number?
00:44:43
Speaker 2: It was like, dude, just hang up, but you don't need to answer this phone call.
00:44:45
Speaker 3: It's kind of funny how people getting numbers as theme of the week.
00:44:49
Speaker 1: Guys, thank you so much for listening to this unfortunately depressing a negative episode.
00:44:54
Speaker 2: We weren't negative. We weren't. We were just no.

00:44:54
