The Sons of God and Daughters of Man in Genesis 6
Throughout history, Genesis 6 has puzzled Bible interpreters. Who are the sons of God? Are they human royalty? Angelic beings? Demons? And who are the daughters of men? Did the union of these two produce demigod offspring who would plague the land? Rita F. Cefalu joins us to bring clarity to this d…
Genesis 3:8-10 – The Spirit of the Day
This week we discuss Genesis 3:8-10. Following Meredith Kline, we argue that in 3:8, God walks in the garden in the wind or spirit of the day. God’s Spirit is involved in this episode of judgment just as he is in later biblical instances of “the day of the Lord,” in which God comes among his people…
Sheol, Hell and Hades
If Satan falls, where is he now? The Old Testament's most common word for the afterlife is Sheol, and Sheol is not simply hell. Everybody in the Old Testament goes there, righteous and wicked alike, and not everyone who goes down experiences the same thing. It is the realm the serpent was cast down…
Atonement and the Invisible Realm

In his view, Christ…

Heavenly Minded
Heavenly minded, or no earthly good? Pastor Andre takes the old jibe, so heavenly-minded that they're no earthly good, and turns it round. He has never met a Christian like that, and the Bible seems to direct our thinking in exactly the opposite direction: if you want to be some good in this world,…
How Should Christians Think About Israel? Session 1 (Recorded Live at Santa Clarita URC)
What should Christians think about the modern state of Israel? Rev. Chris Gordon is joined by Dr. Lee Irons and Rev. Dan Borvan to work through the Abrahamic promises, the land, and the claim that the Jewish people remain God's covenant people apart from faith in Christ. Drawing on Genesis 15, Gala…
