Speaker 1: In all circumstances, hold faith as a shield to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one, and take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit, which is the Word of God.
Speaker 2: Welcome back to Scripture for your inner outcasts. Today is October 29th, 2026. Thursday of the 30th Week in Ordinary Time. Today's presenter is Pam Malinoski, the integrator at Souls and Hearts.
Speaker 1: Hello, listeners. I think it's so interesting that today's first reading, which falls so close to the secular Halloween holiday, is all about putting on the armor of God. Ephesians chapter six, verse 13 to 17, therefore put on the armor of God, that you may be able to resist on the evil day, and having done everything to hold your ground. So stand fast with your loins, girded in truth, clothed with righteousness as a breastplate, and your feet shod in readiness for the gospel of peace in all circumstances, hold faith as a shield to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one, and take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit, which is the Word of God. Before we can don truth, righteousness, and readiness for the gospel, we have to ensure that we are dressed, so to speak, in our proper undergarments, that we have our human formation in order so that our spiritual formation and the grace that comes with it has a solid foundation on which to blossom. Are you young exiles wearing the things that fit you right now, or are you dressed up in grown up clothes, shirts, and sweaters of abandonment and fear that are too big for you? Slacks or dresses of shame and neglect that are hiding behind you? Sometimes you may have picked up these items because you needed something to wear, or maybe because someone in your life dressed you in them years ago.
Speaker 1: But perhaps it's time to change out of these ill fitting clothes of shame, abandonment, fear, and neglect. If you're ready to try on a new outfit, you can begin to share your story with your innermost self who can help you put them in a drawer, give them away, or even burn them completely. This then gives you an opportunity to find clothes or jobs that fit you better within your system. Maybe you trade your oversize shirt of shame for a polo of gratitude, or exchange the dress of insecurity that trips you each step for a belt of reassurance. And the beautiful thing about changing at the natural level is that you are preparing the way. Just like our patron saint, John the Baptist does, preparing the way for our Lord so we can indeed put on the armor of God as today's reading encourages us to do.
Speaker 2: Including today, you have three more days to apply to the Saint Nicholas cohort of the Resilient Catholics community. After October 31st, the application period will close and open up again in February 2027. If you're feeling on the fence about it, you can read the testimonies linked in the description below to help you with your discernment process.
Speaker 1: Let's end with our invocations. Our Lady Untier of Knots. Pray for us. Saint Joseph, pray for us. Saint John the Baptist pray for us.
