00:00:00
Speaker 1: The Bengals like ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports station.
00:00:21
Speaker 2: Here we go, Opening day, Cincinnati, Ohio. It doesn't get any better than this. Thank you for choosing me. It's the Moegar Show. You just heard Moegar. He's been on the radio since what like four o'clock this morning, Sean. Yeah, it's been on the radio a long time. So he's gonna get the rest of the day off. That's that's okay. I am in my normal opening day spot, sitting here high atop the Death Star in Kenwood. The Death Star, I know, right, it's all glass like, it's not a circle, but it's kind of got some Death Star vibes to it. Yeah, a little bit now that now that you mention it. It was in another radio life. That's what we called this place.
00:01:29
Speaker 3: Many many moons moons away whatever it did long ago in a galaxy far far away.
00:01:37
Speaker 2: Yeah, Star Wars. I mean, I you know, I like, I like the originals. I never really got into the prequels or the sequels. I've watched them and watch them. I'm more of a comedy guy, and my ADHD doesn't let me really focus on movies all that long. I'm like a half hour show. Guy like twenty three minutes of entertainment and then I'm on to something else. But Opening day here in Cincinnati Sean McMahon on the Ones and twos. We will be chopping it up throughout the day obviously, you know, one of the biggest listener days of the year. Everybody from four o'clock on will be listening to us and we'll let you know what's going on with the Reds. Yeah, that's how this works. I like that. I don't even think my dad is going to listen today. That's harsh. My dad's a pretty like my dad consumes. As we put out a crap ton of content on Bearcout Journal, my dad manages to consume most of it. He's dedicated today he's going to watch the Reds. You know what on a daylight today. You can't blame the guy. No, I'm not. It's not his fault. I don't blame him. It's the holiday it is. It is one of the last work things I will do until I'm on vacation starting Sunday. So that's good. Headed West, Sean where to uh Three days in San Diego, three days on Venice Beach in La very nice, very nice. My daughter knows my weak spot, like, you know, instead of like most kids would be, like, can we go to Florida for spring break? I don't really care for Florida. Yeah, I'm with you there. I'm worn out on Florida. I'm not much of a Florida guy, probably because I've you know, I've just done Florida vacation a lot. There's nothing new, yep, Like, where do you want to go? I want to go to La. I'm like, but me too. I lived in La in my twenties. I love La. I was gonna say, are you going to see some old friends out there? Possible? Possible? I might see Mike. Okay, there you go. I've got Mike's number and try to hook up with We're hook up with Mike on our San Diego leg Uh. He's right up the road from where it's worst stay and we're staying with the house we got in San Diego is literally on the beach. About that, so I'm excited about that. But that, you know, that's Sunday, So I gotta get through radio today, spring football practice tomorrow, and then it's full steam ahead. We leave it like six in the morning. On Sunday, which I'm terrified because the TSA lines like, do we do I really need to go to the airport at like midnight to catch a six am flight? I don't.
00:04:25
Speaker 4: I don't know if it's that early. I mean, it seems like it fluctuates constant. It does, and it's it's so hard to predict. I mean, the safe bed is get there like three hours early.
00:04:33
Speaker 2: That's three am. Yeah, I know that's a I know. I'd almost just rather go at midnight, yeah, and just be like I'm there, Yeah, take a nap or something. I'm not going to sleep at home? Are you kidding me? In the airport? No, I'm saying like I'm not going to sleep at Oh okay, I got you. Like I'm what I'm gonna fall. I don't sleep like I'm gonna fall asleep at midnight and wake up at two. I've done that.
00:04:59
Speaker 4: It's I don't recommend it. It's awful. I've done it before too, It's terrible. You work in this business, you're bound to do it. Yeah, it becomes part of life at some point in time. But it stinks.
00:05:08
Speaker 2: Yeah, it does. It never gets easier. But you know, I'm ready I'm ready. It's been August and September. We're pretty good in bear cat Land, Sean. Yeah, since November. November was rough. November was not a lot of fun. Yeah, there hasn't been a lot of fun since then. What was fun was yesterday, Jared Calhoun's introductory press conference. I felt a lot of healing yesterday. We're gonna get to this later in the show. I felt, what has it been two thousand and five since Bob Huggins was let go? And look, Mick Cronin was part of the family, but there were still people that were mad about how things went down with Hugs. So it felt like the house was always somewhat divided to no fault of mix. Mick did a incredible job here, and Mick gets a If you listen to the press conference yesterday from both John Cunningham and Jared Calhoun, have you ever seen this before, the ady and the new coach crediting the coach at another university. Yeah, you don't hear that for bringing this together. But Huggs was there yesterday. A lot of former players there yesterday, a lot of you know, people that have been around UC basketball for a long long time, and it's the first I've been doing this for This is my twentieth year on the UC beat. I started mc cronin's first year. It feels like everybody is marching in step in the same direction for the first time in two decades.
00:06:51
Speaker 4: That's a huge feeling too, it is, I mean, and if that comes to fruition, that's that has serious implications for the program.
00:06:57
Speaker 2: If he can win, you're about to see a very very prosperous era for U see basketball, because I just there's not going to be the infighting. Even when Nick got going, people still wanted to compare them to Huggins, Like you know, there's just there was just this always push and pull. And you've been in the fan base, I would guess most of your life. Yeah, you felt it, You've seen it. It's it's kind of basically all you've known. Yeah, yeah, in my lifetime for sure. Yeah, and it you know, dealing with it. From my perspective, it's like you're always like like stepping in the middle of the fight to like come keep it, keep it keep it clean, guy, keep it clean. Quit hitting below the belt, quit quit calling each other names. Just keep it clean. Let's keep it clean. And it felt like yesterday was finally a fresh start. It wasn't you know the past two times the job was open, hire Nick van X or hire Eric Martin, or you know, hire some piece of the past, just so that there was a piece of the past in place. This felt like a piece of the past. That also that it felt like the best in terms of resume, in terms of like what he's accomplished, in terms of he was he was the right guy for the job for the right reasons, but also had the connective tissue the DNA to the UC program that people have wanted since Hugs got let go, even though Mick had ITTT. So it was a really good day yesterday, And I'm interested in your thoughts on this, Sean. Yeah, it didn't feel so many And I've got I've done a lot of coaching press conferences, a lot of introductory press conferences in twenty years. Yep, there was nothing that felt like he spent two hours in front of the mirror in his hotel room rehearsing no, I gotta I gotta get Oh, I got this line, and I've got hold the rope and rep the sea, and I'm fired up, like I gotta get this, and I gotta gotta make sure I do that. I didn't feel like that.
00:09:21
Speaker 4: Yeah, he wasn't crossing off any boxes. He was just kind of speaking his mind. He was very deliberate and how he talked about the program and and his feeling towards the program. And I just saw a clip a moment ago of him talking about, you know, moving back to Ohio with what it means for him and his family and be taken over the program. I mean, you know, it's it's hard not to be excited. I know it's March, and you know, I know we got a ways to go before the next season kicks off, but it's hard not to feel good about the hire. H. Obviously, we don't know what the future holds yet, but I it's hard not to like where you're at.
00:09:53
Speaker 2: We'll get into this a lot now or two, because we you know, they want us to do cross programming when the Red talk about the Reds until the Red start, and then once the Red start, we can talk about all kinds of other stuff, So we'll do a lot of Jared Calhoun in hour two. Also just kind of spinning off of that, the Jared Calhoun Rick Patino junior Richard Patino crosstown shootout phase that we're about to enter, and what does that look like? Because these guys don't seem too contentious, they don't seem they're competitive, but they seem like pretty nice guys. How is that gonna bubble over? Maybe as things get going so plenty more of that come in. Like I said an hour two, we'll get to some Bengals talk. You know, when I get ready to do these shows, the first thing I do is I go to the athletic and I catch up on you know, whatever Paul Dayner has written and written since the last time I was on the air. I do that with most of the other guys, but I started Paul Dayner. Then I go to Skinny, work through my guys and work down the list. And Paul had, you know, kind of a post free agency even though they're gonna add some veterans whatever. As time goes on that post free agency look at the roster in between free agency and the draft, it was there's a couple spots that you feel good about. But boy, depth is so critical in the NFL, maybe more critical than any other sport because of the injuries. Because of the violent, physical nature of the game. You go across what that Bengals, and you feel pretty good. If you go through the starters, you get to that bench, they got a lot of work to do still, You got a lot of work to do still. So we'll go over that and Sean and I will both give our thoughts on Okay, here's this position group. How do we feel about the starters. I'm guessing the answer is usually going to be pretty good. How do we feel about the bench? I'm guessing the answer is usually going to be they better stay healthy and it doesn't happen in the NFL, teams just don't stay healthy through the year. But that's our three. We'll talk about the Sweet sixteen coming up tonight, kicking off tonight and hour three so plenty to get to. But our number one Cincinnati Reds, So let's get to it. Starting lineup, opening day, four to ten. First pitch leading off the center fielder t J Friedol, I'm not gonna do that. I got a pretty good announcer voice, so I could have gotten into that world. Batting second at second base, Matt McLeay, third, Elie de la Cruz at shortstop, South Stewart. It's an interesting discussion on South Stewart here hitting fourth, au Haaneo Suarez, the DH batting fifth, Spencer Steer and left batting sixth, Tyler Stevenson behind the plate, batting seventh, Noel v Marte and right batting eighth and batting ninth at third, Cabrian Hayes batting ninth at pitcher. Cabrian Hayes. No, I'm kidding, he's not that bad. He might be that bad. He might be that bad at the plate and on the mountain. And I are today for the Reds. Of course, the left hander Andrew Abbott. So there you go. That's the red starting lineup. I have the Reds. This isn't going to be popular, Sean. The Redsit's seventy seven wins? Wow? Really, I do? Interest. So you think they dip by six games compared to last year? I do? Wow, I do. Are you willing to put money on it? Uh? Are you that confident? Sure?
00:14:18
Speaker 4: You're pretty confident under eighty though it seems I'm pretty confident under eighty. And you want to know why, I'll tell you why. All right, let me hear it.
00:14:24
Speaker 2: Right after this on Cincinnati's ESPN fifteen thirty. Just keep it rolling, get this show on the road. Phone lines open all day. I couldn't bring myself to schedule a guest today, Sean. There's just so much to talk about. Well, one, there's so much, and two it's opening Natty, I'm not asking somebody. Keegan with Keean Nicholson from bear Cat Journal, my my trusted, uh right hand man. I was like, you want me to come on. I'm like, dude, you're a Reds fan watch the games. Oh yeah, man, it's a holiday. I got this, Shawn, and I are paid to be here fairly. Wow.
00:15:16
Speaker 5: You know.
00:15:20
Speaker 2: I bought you lunch? Does that? Does coffeen something to know?
00:15:22
Speaker 4: Hey, hey, listen, man, I take free your food any day, and I always appreciate that you do that.
00:15:28
Speaker 2: I would complain. I introduced Sean. I won't say whey or no free ads, but introduce Seawan to the the fine world of Mongolian barbecue today. It was pretty good and I've got some for later too. Yeah it's good stuff. Yeah, it's very good stuff. Seventy seven wins. Sean.
00:15:45
Speaker 4: Okay, all right, and you threw that little teaser through the teaser that was some cruel and unusual punishment.
00:15:51
Speaker 2: It is, I think the offense is going to be better, Okay, like just going through that, like you feel outside of hey, who is not a good hitter? Like, let's let's call spade a spade, not a good hitter, Freedom, McLean, de la Cruz, Stewart, Suarez, Steer, Stevenson, Marte. I don't know what Stevenson's you know, I've I'm not saying I've given up on him being a good hitter, but I'm just not at a point where I am expecting him to like take that step into like this guy can really hit.
00:16:26
Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I know what you mean. He he has those spurts where he's hitting really Yeah, he does, and it gives you hope and but and it's it's never an indictment that you know, it's not like he's a bad hitter, not at all. But it's I know, you mean, he's a seven eight hitter.
00:16:40
Speaker 2: Ye, that's what he is. Yep. I'm worried about the pitching. Yeah, you got two guys out already. You've already got two guys out. And look, maybe maybe the trio of Burns and Louder and Williamson give them a lift in this early part of the season and they can bridge until July. Whenever in July it is that you can get Hunter back and they can finish strong. Just man, you're already like you're at your depth. Yeah, who is behind Williamson? Luis agiar? Well, and here's the other thing too, You know, how much does that hurt your bullpen? Potentially? That's the next thing I was going to get to. You know, you already are relying on three guys that are either returning from injury or just haven't been a pro long enough to build up to that one hundred and seventy type inning season. So you've already got three guys that you're gonna have to keep an eye on. You don't have really much depth left behind them coming up through the minor league system. You've already said you're at your max in terms of payroll, So going out and getting someone if you need it probably not gonna happen. And the bullpen is volatile like that. You're banking on a bunch of guys having up years and that's fine, but it also presents some volatility. It presents we might have a good April and a bad May we might have a bad April in a good may like you don't know, because outside of two or three guys, I don't know that there's anybody that, at least for now, because some of them are young that you look at and go, I trust that guy nine times out of ten. He's gonna go out there and get the job done. And they're gonna have to cover innings early because guys aren't built all the way up yet. You've really only got one inning eater of the bunch and Brady Singer, So you've got a starting rotation that I don't think is bad per se, But I don't like the synergy between Connor being out, Lodolo already dealing with blisters, a bullpen that's got potential to be a little volatile, probably gonna have to throw more innings than you would like them too early in the season, and this team's strength is supposed to be pitching. That concerns me. Is that fair? Yeah? I would say so.
00:19:42
Speaker 4: I mean it's it kind of feels like a persistent problem with the Reds that you're relying on too many guys to have ups to have up years. Yeah, you know, it's I don't know, if it's just the nature of being a Cincinnati sports team, because if you're the Dodgers, that's obviously not a problem.
00:20:00
Speaker 2: They got the payroll the size of you know, an entire nation.
00:20:05
Speaker 4: But it seems like it does seem like a persistent problem with the Reds where it's like, we got to have this guy be really good, because maybe this guy won't be so good. Uh, and we don't have necessarily the backups to help us through that or the bullpen to help us through that. Now, I think they've got a lot of good pitching going for them. Obviously we don't know for sure yet. The game hasn't even you know, first pitch hasn't even happened yet.
00:20:28
Speaker 2: Yeah, but.
00:20:30
Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a frustrating spot to be in to think that, yeah, we have some good names on the roster, but we're already dealing with injury and do we have to lean on the bullpen more? Because that was one problem they ran into the last couple of years where the bullpen just got worn out when they.
00:20:46
Speaker 2: They haven't had a lot of depth, Like they've had a couple guys that you can count on that have I think the bullpen has been especially the last two years better than I expected coming into the season. Yeah, and I think Derek Johnson deserves a lot of credit for that. But it's just such a you know, pigne through a lot of innings last year. Generally, guys like that that aren't a star in the game, and they come back from a year where they were used as heavily as he was, they struggle a little bit. That's not to say he's gonna be bad, but maybe he's not gonna be as good as they counted on him becoming a year ago. Yeah, you know, let's take a break. I don't want to. I'm trying to keep the clock for you. I'm trying to you do it all right. I'm off, I'm late, but that's okay. It's okay. It's a nice day out. It's opening day the Reds. First pitch is in forty thirty nine minutes. We're gonna get through it. But let's we'll continue this conversation after this the Maeger Show. Since that he's ESPN thirteen thirty rolling right along Power number one, Opening Day, thirty minutes away from first pitch, to continue where Sean and I have left off. To get you on the record, where are you at, Sean, what's your win total for the year.
00:22:26
Speaker 4: Well, I believe their number is what eighty and a half this year.
00:22:31
Speaker 2: I've seen it some, you know, I've seen a lot of people predicting in the seventies. But the official, like sportsbook number, I think is eighty point five.
00:22:41
Speaker 4: Yeah, I think their ceilings eighty five. I would if I had to put an exact number on it. I'm gonna take eighty four. I'm gonna go one over last year.
00:22:51
Speaker 2: Okay.
00:22:52
Speaker 4: I think they are improved, and I think we will see that on the field. I trust Harry Francona, and I think we will continue to see progress.
00:23:02
Speaker 2: Now is that good enough to get them in the postseason?
00:23:05
Speaker 4: I don't know. Probably not. I don't count on the Mets collapsing again.
00:23:09
Speaker 2: Right.
00:23:10
Speaker 4: That was, let's be honest, that was the reason the Reds got into the playoffs last year. Now they hung in there. I'll give them credit. They wont enough games to do it, but they needed a ton of help. Yeah, so I'm not banking on that happening a second time.
00:23:23
Speaker 2: I will say this, if you've listened to me over the years, one of the things I've always been rather annoyed by is what the benches look like. We'll carry that over into the Bengals because I think it's the sign of an organization that is not fully committed to doing what is necessary. More often than not, when when the bench looks poor, I kinda I don't have that same major concern with the four guys at least right now that the Reds have on the bench. Will ben who you wait for him to put it all together. I think we're getting to the point that we don't know if that's ever going to happen fully. But he can play multiple outfield positions when he's when he's going right, he can really be a guy that helps you, and there's still some upside there, and it seems like he's a great clubhouse guy. Nathaniel Lowe gives you versatility and depth in the infield. Dane Myers you can use him in center field, you can use them a little bit on the corners. Gives you some some defensive ability, and maybe a guy to keep some of those miles off of TJ. Friedel so that his body doesn't get worn down. And then I essentially see Catcher as like a two man operation between Stevenson and Trevino. I think they compliment each other really well. Yeah, but I don't look at one as the starter and one as the backup. Yeah. See, I get where you're coming from on that.
00:25:01
Speaker 4: I guess if I had to, if I had to pick one, I'd probably lean Tyler Stevenson.
00:25:04
Speaker 2: But yeah, they do.
00:25:06
Speaker 4: They do tend to split that role pretty pretty evenly for the most part.
00:25:10
Speaker 2: I mean, and they both play it very well. There's no Stuart Fairchild's in there. It doesn't feel like the opening day position players. It doesn't feel like there's any dead weight. Yeah, it feels like there's been a lot of that in years past. Now, when injuries start happening and guys start moving up and down, maybe we have a different conversation a month from now. But as it stands, what they broke camp with I like, mainly because I don't it has it not felt like for a long time the bench just couldn't hit. Yeah, couldn't hit in any way, shape or form. So if you needed a day off or if you you know, you were just inserting a lack of bigger lack of offense into the lineup, and if you needed a pinch hitter. They didn't really like, didn't really have anybody you felt comfortable going up there and getting swings. I think with this group, I think you feel a little bit better about those things. But again, for me, Green is already out until July the earliest. Like July is when he's sounds like when he's gonna start trying to come back.
00:26:26
Speaker 4: Feels like it's here we go again, right, and Lodolo, it is here we go again again.
00:26:32
Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, it is here we go again, same injury, same problem. Moist hands, moist hands. For Nick Lodolo, I just worry because I now that these three guys louder Burns, Williamson are up on the big league roster. If anything else happens, Where do you go? Where do you go? Where's that? Phil Castellini? Could you know what I'm talking about? Where are you going to go? I was here the opening day that they that he said it? Oh really?
00:27:13
Speaker 4: Oh yeah, man, I was. I was still in college. That was a trip.
00:27:17
Speaker 2: I remember. Social media is going crazy on that now. The Reds did pick up Jose Franco and added him to the starting or to the opening day roster. He's a guy that can give you some innings can provide some of that kind of depth that we've been talking about. But I just I look at it and I I wonder where does it? Where does it go if things get even you know, a little bit more bumpy from where they're at right now, because God, we've seen this franchise come out of the gate and fall flat on their face a.
00:28:01
Speaker 4: Bunch of times, a bunch of times twenty twenty three. Yeah, that was rough out of it by Mother's Day. Yeah, you can't win the division in April.
00:28:13
Speaker 2: Do you can lose it? You can lose it. And they have done that quite a bit. Oh yeah, quite a bit.
00:28:19
Speaker 5: Chad.
00:28:19
Speaker 4: I've got a question for you, two questions. If you want to do it after a break or you want to do it now. We got a little bit of time here. Okay, who are you most excited about coming out of spring? And who are you least excited about or most concerned about.
00:28:34
Speaker 2: That's a good question. It's a couple guys. I mean, I'm excited to see if Matt McLean can keep this up because he was a guy that even like going back and when when the Reds got him looking at that college tape that that short compact, straight to the you know, straight to the ball. Looked like he had great control, great balance, looked like he was he was destined to be just one of the better solid contact, put the ball in play gap to gap, got a little bit of pop, but like, he's not a not a debt you know, home run home run guy, and then that just did not exist coming off of the injury last year. But I'm super interested in South Stewart and and what this looks like. I I'm gonna be honest one. The one thing I don't love. I don't love hitting him forth right away like they are today. Okay, I mean I get it. I guess the the in theory Ellie in front of him and uh behind him, those guys strike out a lot, like people get it better get used to that. Yes, they're gonna strike out a lot. So yes, you're giving him some protection in terms of fear, right, people fear the lineup ahead him, behind him. But if those guys are striking out two times a game, how much protection is he really getting? And I don't want to see the kid press early like I want him to feel comfortable. I would liked maybe to have seen him hit sixth for a little while and then earn moving up into that four spot. But that's it's kind of be a nitpicky. I will fess up to that, man up to that that that's kind of being a little bit nitpicky. The guy that I'm worried about the most, and I don't even know if it's worried as much as it's time for Noelvie Marte to be a guy. Yeah, I agree, we haven't. We've seen it in the little flashes. We've seen it in spurts, but it's always been in fits and starts. It's never been with a whole lot of consistency. So I worry about Marte a little bit. He's hitting eighth. Maybe that's good for him. Maybe he's he's going to be able to take advantage of what I think they should be doing for South Stewart. Hit a little bit lower, get a little bit of a weight off your shoulders. It doesn't feel like you're being asked to be a middle of the order guy when maybe you weren't ready for it. So maybe that's a good thing for Marte. But I think time's kind of ticking on that it's time for him to show he's a major factor, even if it's going to be in the bottom third of this lineup. How about you.
00:31:50
Speaker 4: Well, i'll tease my answers. I'll tell you when we come back. How's that all right?
00:31:55
Speaker 2: More after this the Muegger's Show, not Moeger Cincinnati's fifteen thirty, rounding out our number one. Opening Day the best sports day of the year in Cincinnati.
00:32:20
Speaker 4: Easily, easily easily. It's not even close better than Shootout Day. Yes, there's not a parade for Shootout Day. As much as I love the Shootout, there's nothing like Opening Day. I think that's spring in the air, that everybody's in a good mood. Ideally, yea, ideally, ideally, nothing beats Opening Day.
00:32:42
Speaker 2: Okay, I'll let you have it. I'll let you have it here to finish your point.
00:32:48
Speaker 4: Yes, So back to what we were talking about earlier chat, I had asked you about who you're most excited about, who you're most concerned about. I think for me, I'm most excited to see Matt McLean. I'm excited to see if, like you mentioned, he can keep it up out the gate in the spring. Yeah, an amazing spring that doesn't always translate. But I'm excited nonetheless to see if it does. And then Nathaniel Lowe is who I'm also excited to see. Okay, he had a great story in the spring too, so I'm excited to see what he can do for the roster. Most concerned, and I feel like I'm picking It's it's like picking on a quarterback here. But Andrew Rabbit. Yes, he did not have a strong spring.
00:33:28
Speaker 2: He had a bad spring. Yeah, we can say it. Yeah, we can be honest, right, bad spring. Yes.
00:33:34
Speaker 4: So I'm concerned because I hope he's not putting too much pressure on himself to win opening Day. I mean you should have pressure because winning Opening Day means a lot. Being the opening next the opening day starter means a lot. The Reds came so close to winning last year, so close one strike, you know, can they win it this year? Can Andrew Rabbit have a good game? You know It's again, I feel like I'm picking on a quarterback here.
00:34:02
Speaker 2: But this is part of Also my concern is because I think Andrew Abbott is a fine major League baseball pitcher. When he's on, man, he's on, I think he's a three. Yeah, he's like for a good team. I think he's a number three starter. Yeah, and guess what, the good teams have really good number three starters. That is not in any way a shot at Andrew Rabbit. No guy made the All Starlet team last year. But I think he's a three. Yeah, so that gives me pause that right now he's the one until you get Lodolo back. I don't think that'll be long. Hopefully, hopefully they can get this blister thing squared away fairly easy. But Hunter's not coming back until July. So at least until July. Abbitt, you're two and for right now, Oh, he's your one. That makes me nervous, very very nervous. I don't think he's I don't think he's a one or two. I just I think he might actually settle in to being like an awesome four. But because he made the All Star Game last year and he had the great, you know start to the year, I'll give him a quality third starter.
00:35:23
Speaker 4: Here's the bottom line. The stone Cold said, so being Gil, but also just play well. I don't care where you are in the rotation. Just play well.
00:35:35
Speaker 2: I'll take it, Wendy. They're out for the national anthem. They've got the uh the flag stretched essentially from foul pole to foul pole. It looks wonderful. The drone shots are beautiful. Patron shots are beautiful. Oh, I'm sorry, I thought she said something else. The drone shot. The drone. The drone shots. The drone shots are beautiful. My brain is somewhere else. It's opening day, I can hear it. I don't get to enjoy Opening Day quite like most of the rest of the city, and you don't either. We gotta get I'm talking too long. We're gonna take a break more after this, since that he's ESPN fifteen thirty hour, number two, The Moegger Show. I'm not Moeger. There's a couple of seconds, lay chump. Sorry, all right, I think we can live with a couple of seconds.
00:36:43
Speaker 5: Jay.
00:36:43
Speaker 2: When people come off the elevator and they're just not nice, I just felt like the people who are not nice in general, I know, like it would be nice. Yeah, I didn't. Like, I'm not I'm not a I do hate elevator crowders, Like they just standing at the door and then you're like, I need to get out, and they come in before you get out, Like that's not.
00:37:03
Speaker 4: Proper thatte man elevator etiquette.
00:37:05
Speaker 2: You stand a couple steps back just to I mean, I've made the mistake every now and again because it happens. But then you're like, oh my bad, my bad, not this time, not this time. I was like five steps back from the elevator and the person getting off was was not pleasant. Oh well, you know that's in the past. Now it is. You know what the good news is? What's that? It is Opening Day. We are moments away, mere moments, mere moments away from first pitch at Great American Ballpark. Let's go back over the starting lineup. TJ freeda leading off in center field in my regular voice, I'm not doing the stadium voice batting second number two, second baseman Matt McLay. Crowd goes crazy in the three hole. Ellie de la Cruz playing short Salth Stewart clean up rookie at first base. Aujanio Suarez makes his reds return, batting fifth at designated hitter, Spencer Steer batting sixth in left field, Tyler Stevenson batting seventh at catcher Noel v Marte and right batting eighth. Brian Hayes batting ninth at third, and Andrew Abbott on the mound for the Reds opening day.
00:38:36
Speaker 4: You want some good news, ched, what's that the Cubs are losing and the Pirates are losing. The bad news the Brewers are winning, but they're also playing the White Sox. So that's like saying we breed air to survive. It's like, yeah, of course the Red Sox Roman Anthony leading off in left, Trevor's Story at short batting second, Jared Duran the DH batting third, Wilson Contreras at first, batting clean up, Caleb Durban at third, batting fifth, Wiler a Bray, You and Wright batting sixth, Isaiah, what's this one? You're on your falfa, You're on your own batting seventh, at second, Carlos Navarez behind the dish, batting eighth, Saiddanye.
00:39:33
Speaker 2: Raphaeia, you're starting to sound like cowboy. I mean, you know I didn't practice these. Neither does he. It's his job, it's not my I mean, I guess it is also my job. Garrett Crochet on the mound for Boston. So it's going to be a tough one for the Reds. Bats. Garrett Crochet very very good, but that's what you You got to expect. You're getting the other team's best on opening day. But what is your your feeling here for the Reds on opening day? The Red Sox I are expected to also have a really good bullpen offense, probably at a premium. I want to have faith in Andrew Abbott, but boy, that that's spring. It's concerning, is concerning. Maybe getting out of the heat of Arizona is good for him. This is a good Red Sox lineup, Like I don't feel great about today from a Cincinnati perspective.
00:40:41
Speaker 4: Apparently this is the first time they've ever started the season against the Red Sox, so you know there's potential history to be made here today as well.
00:40:49
Speaker 2: Yeah, that's not surprising you generally, I'm surprised. I don't like playing the American League right out of the gate.
00:40:57
Speaker 4: No, you start with the National League. An understand that it feels like history. I guess as I get older that means a little bit more. I know, when I was younger, I didn't care about any of that stuff, like history changes, history evolves, So I didn't feel like back then that it was a big deal.
00:41:20
Speaker 2: But you know, this is my forty eighth. Opening Day is a Reds fan. Forty seventh. I guess I was born in October, so that first year doesn't count. I didn't see an opening day forty seventh. Opening Day is a Reds fan. I hate that they're not in the first game anymore. I completely agree with that sentiment. Like I understand, like if you want to do the night before thing, you like, Okay, I get it, But today, today, the Reds should be the first game.
00:41:54
Speaker 4: Yep, maybe the only game. No, you don't want to go that far. No, I wouldn't go that far.
00:41:59
Speaker 2: But it was always it was written in stone that the first pitch on Opening Day happened in Cincinnati. Yep. I don't like that that that's that, that's not a thing anymore. Completely agree with you. Why can't we do that because MLB hates us? Do you think Cincinnati had something to do with that? Because it's just easier to do the parade and all the pomp and circumstance on a four o'clock start as opposed to like a game started at like noon today, right, Yeah, I.
00:42:33
Speaker 4: Guess so it's maybe they don't backload at night TV ratings and whatnot. Yeah, I guess, well, the Sweet sixteen's on today.
00:42:41
Speaker 2: That is that is also a thing that you face as well. That's true. I also like, here's another thing I don't like. I liked I I didn't like. I loved when opening Day was the final Like the Final four generally was either the Monday of the championship game or the Tuesday after the championship game, where like the Reds Opening Day, twelve ten first pitch whatever, you got all the red stuff throughout the day and then that night you settled in for the NCAA championship game. That sounds like a much better setup.
00:43:21
Speaker 4: I think that's before my time, at least in my conscious time.
00:43:25
Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean you were probably that's probably a baby, but yeah, maybe even you like Toddler a little bit older than that. But like there was a period where like it coincided with the college basketball National Championship game. Yeah, I like that. I like that a lot.
00:43:42
Speaker 4: I think a twelve to ten first pitch sounds way better, you know, because people get there super.
00:43:47
Speaker 2: Early and they're going to wait all the way till four o'clock. Now, I will tell you I did in another you know, in a previous radio life, as I have talked about I uh drove a radio station van in the parade. How about this? And we would have to get there at like six thirty seven o'clock in the morning. Yoh, yeah, I was in the parade one year. I was in great school. Well, the Red season is one pitch old and the Red Sox have a single great start, one pitch one. We're not gonna do play by play, We're not. They don't like when I do that. They want you listening to seven hundred WLW right now if you're on the radio. But anyhow, one pitch, single, right back up the middle. So the season is underway, and I've always like baseball season is super interesting for me in that there's no other commitment in sports. Double play. Let's go there, you go. You're a little bit behind me. I'm trying not to spoil it. Okay, good, Uh, there's no other commitment in sports like being a baseball fan. Yep. It is six months every day, every day, like it feels like once every other week. I don't think that's a double play. Do you think they review it? I don't. Do you have to ask for it? Right? Yeah? Well they did not, so I think he was safe. Like I think his I think his toe was on the bag before the ball got there. You get up there and you throw a pitch quick.
00:45:38
Speaker 4: Could be could be bold to throw a challenge out early, but the second batter into the season, Yeah you got the challenge flag is on the field.
00:45:46
Speaker 2: Yeah, it could be a little bold. Maybe not. Maybe you need to be bold. I don't know, but.
00:45:54
Speaker 4: You know, started off a little week. But hey, they bounced back. Well, now we might have a challenge.
00:46:04
Speaker 2: Oh they're looking at it.
00:46:06
Speaker 4: They're calling for a challenge. That's close. It didn't getting closer than that. I'll just say that run against the tie, right, Yeah, that looks.
00:46:16
Speaker 2: Like a tie. His toe is on there and the ball is in the mid at the same time. I think it's a tie. Well you get rid of the lead of the lead runner. So yeah, I got that. That might have been That would have been a force out, so we all could you know, it all could be for just for window dressing that there's two outs in a runner on first. The commitment is incredible to be a baseball fan football one day a week, right, like maybe maybe a Monday here and there, maybe a Thursday check practice reports. Yeah, but like you don't have to spend three hours doing it.
00:46:57
Speaker 4: And on top of that, if you're a diehard baseball fan, you're following the minor league clubs too for your franchise.
00:47:03
Speaker 2: God who has how do you have that much time?
00:47:06
Speaker 4: I have a friend who follows that. Him and I are gone a current goal to see all the Reds minor league teams. We've seen the Dragons, we saw him a couple of years ago.
00:47:16
Speaker 2: Now that's fun.
00:47:16
Speaker 4: We saw the Bats last year in like July or August, and then this year we're gonna head down Chattanooga.
00:47:21
Speaker 2: Like that's super fun. Yeah, we're looking forward to it.
00:47:25
Speaker 4: Chat Neuguy, I've heard is a pretty cool little town, so I'm pretty excited to check it out.
00:47:31
Speaker 2: But following the minor leagues ever, like, like, I don't know how he does it, combing over the minor league box scores every night, Like I know, my guy Clay Snowden from Just Baseball. Uh, it's you know, it keeps up with all of that stuff.
00:47:50
Speaker 4: I don't know how. I don't know how it's possible in the most respectful way possible. Yeah, those guys are sickos, and I love it. I respect the heck out of it.
00:48:01
Speaker 2: It's dedication to another level. Challenge, denied challenge, denied runnerund first two outs, top of the first inning, opening game of the season. But yeah, it's it's settling in.
00:48:25
Speaker 4: Like.
00:48:28
Speaker 2: The interesting thing now, Sean is the commitment to like get you know, the reds used to just be whatever part of your cable package. Yeah, oh man, this is a nightmare. Now you got to spend a hundred bucks. Yeah, Like what did are you just immediately like, okay, I'm dropping the hundred bucks me. Do you just in general or do you want like do you need to see it? Like, I give me a weekord, let me see what this looks like before I make a hundred dollars commitment.
00:48:57
Speaker 4: You know, I think I do would like to see, but it looks like. The other thing, too, is my parents have Alti Fiber, and I'm sure integrating that into our house would be a bit of a nightmare for me. But I don't know. I mean, I also work here and uh I again, so usually like.
00:49:12
Speaker 2: Yeah, are you you're you're doing mornings now mostly right, You're doing a lot of mornings now.
00:49:17
Speaker 4: Yeah, So that does make it somewhat difficult for me to follow depending on the the you know, the first pitch time, which I think generally they start earlier at like six ten or six o five, and then they move to like sixty six. That's change it right here, you're right six forty, Thank you. I was trying to remember. But yeah, then they bump it up or they move it back. I guess rather about a half hour to seven ten seven o five for the summertime when the kids are out of.
00:49:42
Speaker 2: School and stuff.
00:49:43
Speaker 4: So yeah, for me, it can be difficult. I mean, let's be honest. I'm up till eleven o'clock anyway.
00:49:48
Speaker 2: So yeah, I'm not much of a sleeper.
00:49:50
Speaker 4: Yeah, I you know, my mindset is all right. If I don't get a lot of sleep, I've got all day to take a nap. I'll be fine.
00:49:57
Speaker 2: Yeah, I've gotten spoiled in the whole, like you know, kid at school thing.
00:50:02
Speaker 4: I'm like, I get what I coming up this summer. She gets her license, so I won't have to worry about it anymore.
00:50:08
Speaker 2: How about that? Well, actually, when we get back from vacation, one of her good friends lives like two streets over from us. She gets her license while we're on vacation and she's going to start taking Kelsey to school boom. So tomorrow might be the last day that I have to take her to school. Now, I'm perfectly good, Like I'm expecting there's going to be mornings where it's like, hey, Haley's not going to school today, you got to take me. Yeah, but I might be out of that duty. But I like, I would come home if I had to work late, you know, and not get to sleep until an unfair hour. I would come back home and take a nap. Yeah, well that's good for you. Yeah, potentially, potentially. Yeah.
00:50:57
Speaker 4: I haven't made the commitment yet to buy the Reds season package.
00:51:00
Speaker 2: No, I don't know that I will. Honestly, I listened to a lot of radio. I have game cast up. I'm also doing podcasts every night at like eight o'clock. Yeah, so I'm not even I don't even get to watch it. Right, we're rambling. Let's take a break. Reds get out of the top of the first unscathed pitchcount got up probably a little bit more than you wanted, but we go to the bottom of the first Reds coming to pat for the first time this season, Let's talk to some Jared Calhoun. When we come back, let's go Cincinnati's ESPN fifteen thirty. Now you're speaking my language. Well, day loss soul just felt right for the day, He myself and I. Yeah, what happened to the reds top of the bottom of the first. It disappeared in a heartbeat. Legitimately, I was looking up a couple of things. I turned away for what felt like two minutes. What do you throw five pitches?
00:52:17
Speaker 4: I honestly missed it because I blinked, and they were two outs, oh Man.
00:52:25
Speaker 2: Two pitches to Freedo, one pitch to McClean, one pitch to day Light Cruise. Gary Crochet threw four pitches in the bottom of the first. I swear I did not see a pitch. Yeah, I don't think I did either. That's deadly efficiency. I was looking something up, thinking I had some time, right, you think you have it like ten minutes, you know, not even landing. I don't even it was. How long was that break? Four minutes? Yeah, we literally went to break as they were running off the field. Came back from break four minutes later and the Red Sox were already batting. That's unlike I don't know that I've ever seen anything go that that was almost literally the perfect like three pitches, three outs, a perfect first inning. If that's a sign of things to come today, my goodness, don't give up hope yet. Man, We're only in the second I mean, I get it. I haven't given up hope yet. I know I'm legitimately saying I don't know how that happened. I don't know how that happened. Oh, Jared Calhoun in the parade today, in the parade today, Corey Evans, the general manager in the in the back seat with Jared, the new brain trust, the one two punch of the Cincinnati basketball program. I don't know how you could not be impressed with Jared Calhoun yesterday.
00:54:21
Speaker 5: Like it.
00:54:23
Speaker 2: He felt like he was already like a part of the program. And I think that is one of the reasons why people are so antsy always, or or you know, they have their heart set on getting somebody that has a connection to to whatever it is. We see it with the Reds. Bring back Barry Larkin or you know when Pete Rose was the manager coach, Yeah, make Joey Vada the hitting coach. And it's not just the Cincinnati thing. It happens everywhere, yep, But yesterday felt like why it happens everywhere? Because I don't know how. You know, you're very early in your career. I am a little farther down the road. That's a fair statement. A little farther down the road. But back when I was your age, there were opportunities for me to leave town and to go start a sports talk journey somewhere else, and I never did it because I never thought I could be authentic covering teams that I don't have any emotional attachment to talking about. You know, moved to Kansas City and you're talking about the Royals and the Chiefs, Kansas Jayhaw like all fine organizations, right, But I have no skin in the game, and I think that makes it incredibly difficult, especially in like a press conference setting where you're up there at the mic and you know, somebody I saw this on the internet yesterday and I don't remember who's I think it was just a you know, a regular poster on one of the social media sites, and they were talking about like Wes Miller and Wes Miller's press conference compared to Jared Calhoun's press conference, and they were actually doing it from a very fair perspective, and that perspective was Wes Miller had. He was very fond of the Cincinnati program. But he was fond of the Cincinnati program because when he was growing up from Afar, from North Carolina, the Cincinnati program was cool, right, yep. I remember that press conference. It was He obviously had a lot of respect and had a lot of you know, thought highly of who Cincinnati was as a program, what Cincinnati basketball meant.
00:57:23
Speaker 4: And it gave you a good amount of excitement too, Yes, a healthy amount, I would.
00:57:29
Speaker 2: Say, I agree, But he never he didn't live it. Yeah, it wasn't ingrained in his DNA. Jared Calhoun from Cleveland grew up as a kid in that era. Then after a couple of years playing for Raleigh Massamino at Cleveland State, moved down to Cincinnati as a student assistant and got to be around Bob Huggins and Bearcat basketball and it became part of him and he carried that with him. And I thought you could feel that yesterday that there was connective tissue in his DNA that Cincinnati basketball wasn't something that he admired as a kid from Afar and looked at as. Yeah, I'd love to, like, I know that place. Basketball means something there. That's how Wes looked at it. It was right, basketball means and you know, if you listen to any of my content, it's part of when things weren't going well this year. That was one of the things I said, is you can't take a job and say you took the job because you know basketball at Cincinnati meant something and then not understand why the fans were upset when you weren't winning enough. They're upset because it means something. They're upset because to them, Cincinnati basketball holds a higher standard, and you're to be held to that standard. That's why you took the job. You can't wonder why things are like that when there's not success. Calhoun, it feels like has the DNA. He doesn't look at the DNA and say, that's a DNA I'd like to be part of. He says, that's already in me. I was here with Bob Huggins, I was here with Jason max Eel and James White and Eric Hicks and John Meeker and Lenny Stokes, like he knows what it means. And I thought that was different from listening to Luke Fickle talk, or listening to Butch Jones or Tommy Tubberville or John Brannon, who was a Xavier fan growing up, or Wes Miller, Like it just felt different yesterday because it felt like Jared Calhoun understood. And that's a good feeling to have too. If you're a fan, it is because you feel like he said something yesterday. I'm gonna take a break. He said something yesterday. I don't think it's gonna mean anything to you, but I think there's a lot of people out there that when I say it, we'll understand exactly what I'm talking about, and then we'll get into a little bit of Patino Calhoun.
01:00:28
Speaker 4: What does the shootout look like going forward? Sincenat He's ESPN fifteen thirty.
01:00:46
Speaker 2: Welcome back our number two rolls along Sinnati's ESPN fifteen thirty. Chad Brendle, Bearcat Journal dot Com in Vermoegger, Red's threatening bottom of the second, first and second two outs, Noel v Marte at the plate. This for me. You get a double from Stuart, get a walk from Steer in between swore As with a flyout to right. Stevenson Marte, Hayes. Can they deliver If this offense is to take a step forward, those guys can't be easy outs. They can't be easy outs. You're gonna have guys on Freedom, McClain, day Light, Cruz, Stewart, Suarez, Steer. The bottom of the lineup is gonna have opportunities. Can they get it done? Uh? Jared Calhoun in official in the opening day parade, that's a done deal. And look, you got to give John Cunningham some credit because Sean, I think this is about to get crazy in college basketball. Yeah, you got that right. North Carolina open will Wade today leaves n C State to go back to LSU. NC State open the two North Carolina school how about that? Yeah? And look they there's rumors, depending on what happens, do could be open too.
01:02:41
Speaker 5: Wow.
01:02:42
Speaker 2: I don't know if you've heard those rumors or not. I have not. This is the first I've heard of that. So the belief is and this could tie into North Carolina as well. Nlvie Marte strikes out, they leave two on, don't get a run across a leadoff double from Sal Stewart. He does not move past second base. They are the Kings of that girl right, get him on, get him over, get him in, and not that nobody can hit a ground ball to the right side of the infield Sean Evidently not.
01:03:17
Speaker 4: I'm telling you man, they are the kings of the stat category of leaving guys on base, especially when the bases are loaded.
01:03:23
Speaker 2: You know, a fly pop out essentially to right field. Now Stevenson made good contact, flew out to the wall, you know the warning track and left, and then Marte strikes out. You don't get the guy over. It's annoying. It's it's basic baseball. I know Garrett Crochet is really good. Like it's it's hard to do that. But if you're gonna be good, it's what you gotta do. What was I saying, Jered, you're talking about Carolina be cas Well. Uh So the Bulls are believed to be They're gonna let go Billy Donovan. Okay, john Shire is a Chicago basketball legend. Wow sore he grew up. It's his family is where he's from. There are reports that the Bulls would make a run of john Shire. And you've potentially got Bill self retiring. I think Kelvin Sampson's going to retire really now that one, it's going to his son. Okay, so you know, if Kelvin retires, he would still be around, probably in an advisory role, and his son would take over the program. Like they wouldn't really scared. That one wouldn't affect the market much. But something Jared Calhoun said yesterday, thirteen one seventy six. Does that mean anything to you, Sean, thirteen one seventy seven six? Yeah? Is that a complete number or is there a dash between them? Nope, that is a complete number, thirteen one seventy six. U let's take a stab at it. Okay. I don't know. I'm not as confident that thirteen thousand, one hundred and seventy six that's the number.
01:05:13
Speaker 4: Is that the total number of wins that you see basketball has accumulated?
01:05:16
Speaker 2: No? No, that was the number indicating a sellout at fifth Third Arena what used to be the Shoemaker Center. And people have a certain age, Sean, Okay, know that number by heart because it was every night, Yeah, tonight's attendance thirteen thousand, one seventy six every night. And if you're my age to probably a little bit, you know, obviously older than me, but all the way down to like late thirties, I would say hearing thirteen one seventy six meant something to you. And Jared Calhoun in that press conference yesterday said, man, you'd come out here and you'd look around him, there'd be thirteen one seventy six and like he get like, that's him. That's the guy. That was your jaw dropping hit that floor. No, it like didn't hit the floor, but it was. That's the guy. If you can, if you can stand up there and just casually, like when I walked out and I looked around and I knew there was thirteen one seventy six in the building. If you're of a certain age, everybody everybody reacted. I can guarantee you that that that was of that age. That was like, yep, nail on the head. This is the guy. He knows what thirteen one to seventy six is. He's one of us. And you just proved that point by asking me the question too. Yeah, you're I mean, you're a younger guy, so that wouldn't mean as much now it's twelveenty twelve, and look for a lot of years, like how old were you in two thousand and six?
01:06:56
Speaker 3: Uh?
01:06:57
Speaker 2: First eight months I would have been five. That's when McK cronin got here. And for the first four years that place was never full because it was a rebuild and people's feelings were hurt and it took time it got back there. But thirteen one seventy six wasn't a thing Undermick. That was a Bob Huggins thing, right, So it makes sense that you don't know it. But boy, people of my generation that resonated yesterday, I guarantee it. I would love to hear people's thoughts on that from that are from that that era.
01:07:33
Speaker 4: As soon as you as soon as I heard, as soon as I like, that's okay, he knows, he knows, he's a knower.
01:07:39
Speaker 2: He's a knower.
01:07:42
Speaker 4: Stake a break more after this since an as ESPN fifteen thirty people, all right, and here.
01:07:55
Speaker 2: We go, close it out the hour. I don't I don't do this for anyone, but I'm gonna do this for Mike today. Mike. We got two options here. Okay, are you there, Mike, Mike's at a party. Oh there he is. He's back. He's back, Mike.
01:08:20
Speaker 5: J Well, we checked into this hotel here. I'm not far from Dodger's Stadium for the game, and they got the music turned up too damn loud.
01:08:31
Speaker 2: Well, we got one or two ways to do this, Mike. Okay, I got about three and a half minutes now, or we can wait until the top of the hour and I'll have more time.
01:08:41
Speaker 5: Oh, that would be great. Thank you for being so cooperative.
01:08:45
Speaker 2: For sure, not a problem. I'll talk to you in a couple of minutes. Okay, thanks you, no problem. But there's I can't get Mike in and out in three three and a half minutes. Yeah, that guy deserves more time. It's not possib Yeah. Richard Patino Jared Calhoun. I'm interested to see how this goes because these don't seem like angry guys. They've had nice things to say about each other. They have competed twice last year, not last year, the year before in the Mountain West, when Patino was at New Mexico Calhoun was in his first season at Utah State. Do you do you think that they need some spice in this rivalry? Do you do you think it suffers a little bit if the two guys kind of like each other.
01:09:37
Speaker 4: Yeah, definitely, definitely. It's better when the two head coaches. I don't want to say at each other's throats, but when they have a little bit of.
01:09:48
Speaker 2: Bad blood. Yeah, because you know you've got bad luck. Man, I got a fifteen year old daughter. Like you know how much Taylor Swift I've listened to rely too much? Yeah, I know, I'm aware. I've been to two Taylor Swift concerts. I'm sorry. I hope you enjoyed it though, actually I did. It's a pretty good show. Okay, fair enough, I'm not gonna lie it wasn't It wasn't bad by any stretch of the imagination. Yeah. I would think someone like her would put on a good production. Yeah. I can't believe how much she like moved, Like the stage is like seventy yards and she is up and back and up and back and up and back and up and back like it's a lot of you get a lot of cardio. Yeah. I do think like there needs to be some some contentious personalities, some contankerism. Yeah.
01:10:35
Speaker 4: I think you're much more likely to get that out of Jared Calhoun, him having that history of being a UC guy, being in Ohio. Yeah, rick I'm sorry, Chino, Yes, thank you, little Ricky yeah, a little ricky. Yeah, you're probably not gonna get that out of him now, I guess unless something started between the two of them, some kind of beef, which I can't anticipate that happening. But I think Jared Calhoun is a guy who knows exactly what this rivalry means to the city, exactly what it means to win that game. I think Wes understood there was a lot of pressure to win it because he heard it constantly.
01:11:15
Speaker 2: He won, you know, of the five Crosstown shootouts.
01:11:18
Speaker 4: Teams in he won one and he was three different Xavier head coach, you know all that stuff. So he knew there was a lot of pressure to win that game.
01:11:26
Speaker 2: But it did.
01:11:27
Speaker 4: It didn't have the meaning to him that you know it will for Jared Calhoun. And that's fine. I wouldn't expect it to you know, you talked about it earlier. You know, you didn't have skin in the game. It just isn't the same for someone who's not from here to really fully grasp what it means. Now, he can maybe relate it to the Duke North Carolina rival he can relate it, but that's the same, it's not the same. So I think Jared Calhoun is the most likely candidate to kind of maybe spark the one side of it. But we'll see, we'll see. I'm I'm interested to see that too as well.
01:12:02
Speaker 2: Nick and Nick Cronin and Chris Mick knew each other their whole lives. Yeah, they didn't care for each other.
01:12:08
Speaker 4: Yeah, we'll see if it develops.
01:12:12
Speaker 2: We'll see if it grows organically. Breneman and Jones on baseball Coming up, Cincinnati's ESPN thirteen.
01:12:18
Speaker 1: Thirty, ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.
01:12:45
Speaker 2: Here we go our number three, The Mowagger Show. Opening Day, Cincinnati. There's no better place to be than Cincinnati on opening Day. Yeah, don't let the Saint Louis fans tell you. They look. They've had a better baseball franchise than the Reds over the last however many decades you'd like to count, correct, But they don't do opening Day like Cincinnati. No, nobody does opening Day like the Cincinnati Reds. The Cincinnati Reds batters not doing great on opening Day. The Reds have one hit through four innings. Garrett crochet Is, I think it like forty five pitches through four. The Reds are trying to be aggressive. They're going up there and getting their cuts in. It's not resulting in hits and or base runners. You had the double from Stewart and then one two batters later, a walk from Steer. Those have been the only two base runners allowed. Not great, Bob, not great. How are we looking? Not good? Good? Not good? So we go to the fifth nothing nothing give credit. I mean Andrew, Andrew Abbott has not been as as dominant, but it's still been effective. He's he's given up five hits, he's given up a walk, he has worked around all those. We've seen a pair of double plays. But it look I know it's Garrett Crochet. I know it's one of the best pitchers in baseball. But for a team that we're looking at and going, man, the pitching has me a little worried. It's a concern. On Day one, we're through four innings, They've had two base runners. Zero point five whip for Garrett Crochet. That's pretty good. So, like I said, we moved to the fifth. Bottom of the Red Sox order coming up. Let's get to Mike. See what Mike wants to talk about. Mike, how's it going, my friend, You're you're ready for Dodgers Opening Day. I take it I'm.
01:15:55
Speaker 5: More ready for you coming to the visit, coming to California than that.
01:15:58
Speaker 2: I'm ready to get out there. I am ready to hit the hit the road. I'm worried about the airports. They don't sound great, but.
01:16:10
Speaker 5: Lax is always nuts. Man doesn't matter when it can be three in the morning.
01:16:14
Speaker 2: Mike, I got a question. Have you ever had Don's Chilake heelays, say it again, Don's Chila keelays, you know what Chilike Keelay's are.
01:16:24
Speaker 5: Right, Yeah, but I don't know about the don part.
01:16:29
Speaker 2: It's in La there's a couple of locations. There's one in Long Beach, there's one kind of near downtown. I've heard very good things. I think I'm gonna go. We get off the plane at like eight fifteen Sunday morning. I think we're gonna go get some Don's Chila.
01:16:44
Speaker 5: Keelays, No, that's perfect, and actually they're they're just I don't know if they've opened a new one down in San Clemente. Okay, down in Orange County because I lived down at Dana Point. You know that. Yeah, down it just a little south of the Newport. Uh gosh, I haven't been to one of the one of their joints for you know, I don't know, not that long, a couple of years. Oh yeah, blow your mind, dude.
01:17:13
Speaker 2: I love and you gotta go green, right, you gotta go green. You don't go right, you got to go green.
01:17:20
Speaker 5: You gotta go And that's my opinion. Now other people will say otherwise, but I personally was much for further green.
01:17:28
Speaker 2: I'm ready for some Mexican food.
01:17:32
Speaker 5: I'm gonna I'm gonna well, I don't have your phone number.
01:17:38
Speaker 2: I have yours. I'm gonna get in touch with you this weekend.
01:17:41
Speaker 5: Yeah, and then uh, and then I'll give you I'll work on that the next day or so and come up with four or five joints that won't be you know, long drice for you in the family to check out.
01:17:54
Speaker 2: Yeah, we're staying in Pacific Beach when we're in San Diego, and then and we're staying right in Venice when we get to.
01:18:02
Speaker 5: La Okay, I'll tell you another good resource when you want to do something like that. I don't care.
01:18:08
Speaker 2: Where are you going to?
01:18:09
Speaker 5: The United States? Is a guy Fieri?
01:18:12
Speaker 2: Yeah, I always check out Triple D and see what triple D spots are around.
01:18:16
Speaker 5: So because those are all the mom and pops me and those are the hidden.
01:18:19
Speaker 2: Traders that we all love, that's what I prefer me too.
01:18:23
Speaker 5: Well, they brought twenty of us up here, and I'm thankful for it, but it's it's a it's a kind of a bit of an arduous experience physically because a lot of guys have a lot of gear they got to bring, and yeah, stuff like that. But but hey, how can you turn down third base seats in the top of the bottom section there and not just be grateful as hell? And they're putting us up in the hotel here. So I apologize about that earlier.
01:18:55
Speaker 2: That's all good, But we were talking about Oh my god, I mean, come on, what just it's like the fourth bad call at first base by Cebe Buckner.
01:19:08
Speaker 5: Oh, I didn't know where you were on that one, so I got a little lost.
01:19:12
Speaker 2: Oh come on, not you, you're fine, Not you, you're fine.
01:19:18
Speaker 5: Well, you know, if they're going against dude Crochet, gonna not be an easy task, you know.
01:19:23
Speaker 2: Right, That's why it's important you don't get screwed over by the umpires.
01:19:28
Speaker 5: Hey, schemes got hammered by the Mets.
01:19:30
Speaker 2: He did. It was not a good day for him.
01:19:33
Speaker 5: See, so it can happen to the best of them. You guys might just start blowing hitting, hitting crochet like you know, ping pong ball.
01:19:40
Speaker 4: Here a little bit, Mikey, he's throwing like forty five pitches through four innings.
01:19:46
Speaker 5: Whoa right, I think he's on his game a little bit. Yes, how many hits they got too?
01:19:52
Speaker 2: The Reds have one hit, the Red Sox have seven.
01:19:56
Speaker 5: Oh gosh.
01:19:58
Speaker 2: It's not trending in a good direction, my friend.
01:20:01
Speaker 5: No, And that makes people upset on opening day. But that's not what opening day is about. Opening Day, well it should be.
01:20:07
Speaker 2: But opening days, he'd like to get a win.
01:20:10
Speaker 5: Hell yeah, because when it comes right down to it, opening days here and going, and then we're down to the nitty gritty, right right. But I want to talk about U see real quick basketball because I heard you about the thirty thirteen seven sixty one.
01:20:25
Speaker 2: I think it's thirteen.
01:20:27
Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm dyslexic a little bit, that's okay, But Ted, I swear my dad took me to my first UC basket. I think it was called the wasn't it called the Armory field House.
01:20:38
Speaker 2: Yeah, the Armory field House. Oh no, yep, Well now what South Stewart just took a line drive off his arm hand arm area. He wrists dropped his glove immediately. Oh my god, this is not going great, Mike, it's not going great.
01:20:57
Speaker 5: Curse this team is cursed. I swear to the course post nineteen seventies. This team was.
01:21:04
Speaker 4: Col right at the base of the palm, like right where the palm and the wrists meet on the inside, right at the like the bottom of the glove.
01:21:18
Speaker 5: Not a compound fracture.
01:21:20
Speaker 2: Uh, it was immediate. He was down. Great that blows.
01:21:25
Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, that blows real hard. Well, well, anyway, well I know you gotta get going. But what I was going to do? Remember, okay, thanks my dad taking me down there when I was five years old. No, no, I was probably about seven and uh, and Oscar was still playing for US. And it's funny, ched I talked to so many people over the years that said, yeah, I was unreal. Oscar went for a three peet. I should know, brother Oscar was gone. He was gone.
01:21:55
Speaker 2: He got him to a final four, but he never got a title.
01:21:58
Speaker 5: I never got him the title. And I but then they had started taking me down the other games. And I'll never forget those guys with Paul Hoag and Tony Yates and Larry Shankleton and Tom Thacker. Tom Packer was my favorite. And then after that it was George Wilson and Ron Bonm and we beat Ohio State twice. And you know, I'm showing my age, but boy, that was the heyday of DUC basketball, wasn't it.
01:22:24
Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean I think people think that they won two titles and that was it. They don't realize they went to five straight final fours.
01:22:33
Speaker 5: Yeah, and then they got beat by Loyola on the three peat with Jeff Parkner was there. Loyal of Chicago was their star player, and Jucker went, I don't know if he went into a stall.
01:22:45
Speaker 6: Then or what.
01:22:46
Speaker 5: But we I don't know, did we lose that in overtime? It might have been an over.
01:22:50
Speaker 2: I think it was. I mean, I I was still a I was a couple of years from being born at that point.
01:22:58
Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I was so because I was tall. I was already real tall for my age. So that's why I ended up playing basketball.
01:23:06
Speaker 2: Uh.
01:23:06
Speaker 5: I didn't play football much, so I played basketball and baseball, and I was so attached to you. See, Ron Bonham had the most beautiful baseline jump shot I've seen in a while.
01:23:18
Speaker 2: I've heard a lot of I've always heard people talk about his his mid ran and how good he could have been if there was a three point line, how much better he could have been if there was a three point line.
01:23:28
Speaker 5: Okay, I'll just stay on and listen to your play eight. Uh can you leave the line dedicated to me so I can listen to Upstate? Okay, I'll talk to you this weekend or communicating someway stay or form before you leave?
01:23:46
Speaker 2: All right, enjoy the game.
01:23:49
Speaker 5: Thank you, Chad, You're my budd.
01:23:50
Speaker 2: No problem. Thanks Mike Dick from Dayton, Dick, how you doing, brother?
01:23:56
Speaker 5: How are you Chid?
01:23:58
Speaker 2: I'm good at South Stewart's State.
01:24:01
Speaker 6: Well, I just wanted to tell you Dayton made a good Uh. There's going to be a lot of people happy. You know the hotels, I could, you know, for the for the tournament, you know, for d you know, for the madness. They're going to generate a lot of money for basketball.
01:24:17
Speaker 2: Aren't they sure? Sure?
01:24:19
Speaker 6: Yeah, it's good, it's pretty good. Well did your Hey, congratulations.
01:24:25
Speaker 5: To uh, Miami, whatdy gear? They had? Right?
01:24:28
Speaker 2: The great season was a great season. I mean you know they were eventually going to run into a team that was bigger and stronger and faster. That was inevitable. But they absolutely made the best of it.
01:24:42
Speaker 6: Yeah they did, did they?
01:24:43
Speaker 5: Now?
01:24:44
Speaker 6: Did your teams make it?
01:24:47
Speaker 2: Take my team? Cincinnati?
01:24:49
Speaker 5: Oh? Yeah? Yeah? But come on, what's the matter with come on?
01:24:55
Speaker 6: But you know I called my friend, uh we we we got where last year and Dave. I thought Dave maybe would give me some bread stickets. But you got to meet my friend. Sometimes he comes gets me and uh uh uh we go to uh, you know, different places to see everybody. Oh, I want you to say hi to somebody.
01:25:20
Speaker 4: Hi, somebody, Hi, how are you Hi?
01:25:26
Speaker 5: I can't hear on this, dame, hold on.
01:25:27
Speaker 2: I can't either. It's fine, Hi, how are you? I'm wonderful yourself.
01:25:34
Speaker 5: Can you hear me?
01:25:35
Speaker 2: I can hear you? Can you hear me?
01:25:37
Speaker 5: Okay?
01:25:38
Speaker 2: This is Jimmy. How you doing? I'm doing good? What's your Red win total for this year? How many? How many win games? Of the Reds gonna win all of them? All of them? One hundred and sixty two and oh Okay, I love that. There you go.
01:25:58
Speaker 3: All right, Well, nice talking to you.
01:26:00
Speaker 6: Here goes okay, yeah, just this never it's great up here. You know, I know people basketball and I'll played music.
01:26:11
Speaker 5: But I'm having a good time.
01:26:13
Speaker 2: All right. You have a great day, Dick. Okay, Okay, see you later. What that was a hoot? Just happened? I'm so confused, don't you love rud Live Radio? Ah, should have kept talking to Mike the second break.
01:26:35
Speaker 4: It's not easy SB at fifteen thirty. Little reggae action, okay, okay, just fits the day.
01:26:54
Speaker 2: It's I'm going for the vibes today. You know, the vibes have been good. Yeah, the vibes have been good. Let's get to a little Bengals. There's been a lot of talk surrounding the roster construction and how things look coming out of free agency. And that doesn't mean they can't sign free agents. Obviously, there are still guys out there, but the rush of free agents is over. The first wave, the second wave, however you want to call it. That's in the books. You'll see some guys getting cut, some additions made that way, but for all intents and purposes, everybody's now looking at the draft and the in roster building, and so I was looking at, you know, Paul Dayner's article this week. I think it came out on maybe Monday about the Bengals depth chart titled linebacker remains glaring need how to toward NFL Draft. And then you start going through and you started start looking, I'm concerned about the depth of this roster. In a league where injuries are just part of the deal, just part of the deal, you are going to have injuries in the NFL. It is a violent sport. That's not telling anybody new. If you're trying to build a championship roster, yes, you need to have great players at the top. But man, you're through free agency, you're going into the draft. This is a rough look as we go through the roster, and we'll try to do this quickly and then we'll talk about it after we take a break. But sean quarterback, Joe Burrow, Joe Flacco, Okay, that's fine, that's fine. Yeah, two guys deep, we can we can. We can work with that running back Chase Brown the starter, samaj p Ryan and Tosbrooks behind him. You'd like to maybe have a little bit more depth there. I'm sure that that that's something that that they will address, getting like a special team's type, you know, depth piece at running back. I'm not not sweating running back and tight end. I think is is reasonable. I don't think it's a great tight end room, especially you've got Mike Gaseki and Drew Sample and then on the bench Tanner Hudson and Eric All. I would I would have this higher if we were confident that Eric All is going to be able to play NFL football.
01:29:44
Speaker 4: Right, he looked great when he started, Yes, but that knee is not great. Yeah, multiple h A c L surgeries.
01:29:55
Speaker 2: It's a lot wide receiver starts to get a little a little interesting here, Jamar Chase T Higgins, Josebash in the slot. I don't trust him. It's a great story, seems like an awesome guy. I don't trust him to be a high level slot receiver. And then behind them Charlie Jones, Keishawn Williams, Michael Tinsley, woof Mitch Tinsley or Mitch Tinsley. Mitchell Tinsley. He might he might be the the one that that actually saves that room from being like a kind of a disaster. Except for the fact that obviously you've got two of the best in the NFL and at the top of the room. I'm not terrible, Tarry, I'm not mad about that, but when one of those guys gets hurt, that goes from a strength to a weakness. We've seen it how many times offensive line love the starters, Brown fair Child, Keris Riisner, mems good with that behind them, Cody Ford, Matt Lee, Jalen Rivers, Oh no, oh no, that's not good.
01:31:09
Speaker 4: No, and Cordell of oosen Volson also got dropped recently. Yeah, so there's less depth there, and even if whatever your opinion was, it's still one less guy you got in the room.
01:31:20
Speaker 2: Defensive line, Miles Murphy, Jonathan Allen, TJ. Slayton, Boye, Mafe. It's not gonna win any awards for best defensive line in the NFL. But it's not bad. It's not bad that they need to be more productive. But I don't I'm not overly terrified at the starters, but backups. BJ Hill, I think his best time has passed him. Chris Jenkins, No, Shamar Stewart, I mean, I guess, I don't know, but so far, not a lot. Cedric Johnson. Who McKinley Jackson. I'm gonna be surprised, honestly, if McKinley Jackson makes this team, unless it's just a matter of we don't have enough. Hendrickson gone a Saigone. They replaced Hendrickson with Mafe, They did not replace Osai. I don't think defensive line is great. Linebacker goodness, starters Brett Carter, Demetrius Knight, backups Owen Burke's Joe Giles, Harris, Shaka Hayward. That's clearly a bad place. And then defensive backs at corner DJ Turner and Dax Hill, Jalen Davis, the nickel Brian Cook and Jordan Battle. The safeties not bad there, but you go to the bench Josh Newton, DJ Ivy, PJ. Jewles, that's it. You see a lot of injuries in the secondary like that. That's just a spot. And they don't you know, they don't always seem to be like super serious. But guy misses a game or two and you gotta you gotta slide somebody in there behind him. There's no depth on this team, Sean ye none. I've got a question for you, but I'll leave it for when we come back. All right, let's take a break. We will will break that down now that we've set the stage. We'll break that down when we come back. Since that's ESPN thirteen thirty, Reds are threatening. Finally, Sean, finally, we've been here before. We have South Stewart up one out in the bottom of the sixth, McLain on second, Dela Cruz on first, Andrew Abbott done for the day, six scoreless innings, gave up seven hits, give up a walk. Oh boy, I know you're behind me, so I'm being careful here. Okay, okay, Basis loaded Stewart single second hit of the day for the rookie. Whoever drives that first run across is going to get a standing ovation. Gino Basses juiced in the sixth. See if he's got some of that World Baseball Classic magic. Yes, But you were saying about the Bengals and the depth as we've gone through it.
01:34:32
Speaker 4: Now I'm going to ask you a question I was just asked yesterday in an interview, who do you think the Bengals should draft?
01:34:41
Speaker 2: And to me, it's three possible answers, but I'll let you go first. So here's the thing I think there are six defenders that I like. Okay, most every mock I've seen has all six of those defenders going before the Bengals drafted ten. That checks out. Yeah, it would be great if even one of those guys fell. I think you and I probably have three in common. But go ahead. We only have three of the six in common because I only have three.
01:35:14
Speaker 4: But I'm curious to hear who your six are and if I have three of the same.
01:35:21
Speaker 2: Well, obviously Aara Reese okay, Ruben Bain yep, that's one of mine. Starnay Styles yep, Okay, Caleb Downs, that's.
01:35:38
Speaker 5: My other one.
01:35:39
Speaker 4: My second one, the the pass rusher from Texas Tech.
01:35:45
Speaker 2: That's six, right, that was you? Are you saying? Was that your sixth one? Yeah? I think that was Was that six? I think that was four or five? There's at least five? Yeah? What about what about a Key mesidor? I don't know if here's the thing. Reese Bailey is the edge from Texas Tech, Caleb Downs, Sunny Styles, Reuben Bain and was it only five? I thought it was.
01:36:20
Speaker 5: Downs?
01:36:21
Speaker 7: Yeah, two, three, four, five? That was only five? Maybe it was only five? Okay, more is better?
01:36:37
Speaker 2: I everybody keeps putting mansor Delaney in that ten spot to the Bengals, That would tell me that that is a play for the future. Would it added depth this year? Yes, but it is a play for the future, and that you don't intend to resign both DJ Turner and dex Hill, And I think you need so much defensively, I think you have to sign both of those guys. You need them right now. I would probably trade back if I could at ten. Okay, interested to hear your thought process on this. I don't think. I don't think Delaney is who I would spend the tenth pick on. So if I can add they need so much, if I can move back a couple spots and add a pick or two in the in the third round, the fourth round, I think that would be wildly beneficial. And you still could probably, like if Delaney's not there, I still think you could get Jed Jemal McCoy from Tennessee. How depending on how far you go back, Avian Terrell from Clemson. The Reds can't get it done. What did I tell you earlier?
01:38:09
Speaker 4: They're the best when the bases are loaded at not getting anybody across the fleet.
01:38:15
Speaker 2: Unbelievable. More the same. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Bases loaded one out and Suarez and Steers strakeout swinging. Welcome back to the red season again. Garrett Crouchet is very good. But you gotta find a way to scratch a run across. Maybe you don't hit him for four, you gotta find a way to get one. I would trade back. I think the five guys that I think are the best options. I don't think they're gonna trade up, No, I don't think so. So I would trade back and get extra picks if one of those five guys wasn't there. I don't love a corner at at ten. How far up do you think they could trade if they decided they wanted to, like maybe seven, maybe, but you could I think you get one of those five guys at seven. Yeah, I think so too. And they need help on defensive line. I mean, I guess you could say they're okay at safety, but you could always use another defensive back and downs, and they need help a linebacker.
01:39:26
Speaker 4: They need help, period. Yeah, the defense just isn't enough. Blanket statement.
01:39:30
Speaker 2: Yeah, let's take our last break, sweet sixteen tonight, get a couple of quick thoughts on that before we get out of here, since I e's ESPN thirteen thirty. All right, home stretch, we go. We're no longer tied. Pierce Johnson and his first appearance as a Red gives up a double on his second pitch, a sack punt to get him to third, and then on the third batter face to single up the middle of the reds now trail, one to nothing, top of the seventh Sweet sixteen. Tonight, four games, Texas and Purdue, and that's it for Pierce Johnson. Three batters, he got one out, gave up a run. Fast about that bullpen? What were you saying earlier? This is what happens when you get bases loaded with one out and you strike out twice. You put no pressure on the other team. How many times did we see that with Hunter Green?
01:40:48
Speaker 5: Yeah?
01:40:49
Speaker 4: I mean that was one of the storylines of twenty twenty four. It was Hunter Green would have great games, the offense would stink, and they'd lose because of it. Yep, Hunter would have an amazing game and the offense just couldn't produce.
01:41:04
Speaker 2: Uh seven Tonight Texas and Purdue. I think Texas wins this game.
01:41:11
Speaker 4: I Oh, for racket's sake, I really hope you're wrong.
01:41:15
Speaker 2: Purdue generally overwhelms you with size. Texas has great size, they do, so like, Purdue is not gonna overwhelm Clough and Kaufman Wren are not gonna overwhelm Texas with their size. I like Traymon Mark like I I think Texas wins. And you know, I think it's gonna be really funny if Sean Miller goes to the Elite eight, goes to the Elite eight, you're one at Texas second game, Iowa Nebraska, I mean, good for Nebraska. Good for Nebraska. I know Zach Taylor's happy. I talked to Zach about this on Tuesday. Oh, very nice. He was at both games last week. Wow. Nebraska's never won a NCAA tournament game, Yeah, till this year. And now they're in the sweet sixteen. Incredible. I don't know here. I think Nebraska is the better team. I think Iowa wins. I think they're more physical. Ben McCollums outstanding. Yeah, he's outstanding. It's the battle of the farm boys. Yeah. Oh, these and these two schools hate each other. Oh yeah, hate. You love to see that in the Sweet sixteen. Yeah, uh tonight Arkansas and Arizona. Arizona is the best team left in this tournament. Arkansas has the best player in this tournament. Darius Acuff, if you have not watched him, is.
01:42:47
Speaker 4: Electric, insane, electric with the ball in his hands.
01:42:53
Speaker 2: But I don't think he can do it alone. And I think that defense of Arizona is gonna make it a lot tougher on him than pretty much anybody else has. To this point. I think Arizona wins. I think it's going to be closed, but I just don't think Acuff has enough juice to do it by himself.
01:43:13
Speaker 4: What if I told you I have Arkansas in the National Championship game, Well, I mean, look, you're going with the best player in the tournament. I can't hate you for that. I just was going on the coach Calf, I've.
01:43:26
Speaker 2: Got him going through Arizona.
01:43:28
Speaker 4: Hey, listen, I'm I'm tied for first place on the iHeartMedia Bracket Pool Challenge right now, tied for first.
01:43:36
Speaker 2: The guy has had more talent than any coach in the history of basketball. He's won one tournament and that team was absurd. Coach col and then stylistically one of the more interesting games you'll see all season. Illinois number two in the country in offensive efficiency. Houston a top five defense always under Calvin Samson. I think the big thing here is Houston lives on dominating the glass. I think Illinois matches them on the glass. Yeah, two very physical teams. I love Calvin Samson. I love that Houston program. Uh, but I think Illinois wins.
01:44:21
Speaker 4: What if I told you I have them winning it all Illinois Houston, Houston, I would tell you you're not going to be at.
01:44:28
Speaker 2: The top of the iHeart brackets for long. I just I worry about their They're so young. Yeah, Flimmings is a freshman. Snack's a freshman. You know. They've got a couple of freshmen that come off the bench. Like they just got a lot of youth across the board for Houston that they don't normally have. They're usually old. They're usually a very veteran ridden team. Yeah, and I and I don't think Jojo Tugler, who is an excellent defender, but he has not rounded out his game like you saw, like Juwan roberts Do, who's spent forty three years. Juwan Roberts was a freshman on five Slamm of jama and now he's a senior.
01:45:16
Speaker 4: I don't know it's gonna be fun. All I know is it's March and anything's possible.
01:45:20
Speaker 2: Yeah, it should be two really really good games tonight. Thanks to everybody for tuning in. Sam Maul got out of the jam. So we are at the seventh inning stretch. It's one nothing, Boston Stevenson, Marte Hayes coming up for the Reds. Sean, It's been a absolute pleasure today, sir. Always fun with you.
01:45:43
Speaker 5: Jed.
01:45:44
Speaker 2: I'm glad look forward to I'm glad you like the Mongolian barbecue. It's one of my favorite things. Looking forward to it later. All right, Well, thanks to everybody for tuning in. Take me out to the ballgame, take me out to the crowd, Get me out of this studio, Cincinnati's ESPN fifteen thirty
