For Fox Sake: Welcome to Headlines from For Fox Sake, the headlines that Leicester City made this weekend. And my word, didn't they make plenty of headlines? My name is Pete Selby after a dramatic and dreadful 4-0 home defeat to Oxford United in League One. And after a victory during the week, and after a what looked like a very good transfer deadline day, and it may turn out to be, Leicester throwing one of the worst performances ever seen. It has to be at the King Power Stadium or At Filbert Street, a terrible defeat by Oxford. First of all, Oxford United, very good, very professional, knew their job and knew how to beat Leicester, as pretty much every club knows now. But what were the headlines over the course of the weekend? Now the first port of call is always the national press. And again, because we're down in League One, and if it's not on TV, if it's not an early game that press can get to, etc., then no one is really there. That's no surprise. But the interesting thing with this result, because it was a headline making result, it turns out that a lot of press, a lot of well known figures in the wider football world wanted to know what happened at King Power. Arlo White, for example, big Leicester fan working over in America, football commentator, also host of Live Golf as well. he says there are potentially more depths for this club to dredge. But this Is a true nadir, the lowest point in the club's hundred and forty-two year history. It seems that every week that's the case. League position, quality, spirit, hope, ownership right here, right now. Yep, it's a fantastic time to buy the club. Roll up, roll up. And also one or two others, the likes of Henry Winter, who who wasn't there, he he's never gonna be there in a game like this. But again, commenting on Leicester City. Now, he says Russell Martin criticised for not having a plan B. He deserves more criticism for not having a plan A that's suited to League One. He has some decent players, still, despite all Leicester City's woes and flaws under Top and Rudkin, especially the younger ones, who look like they care. But Martin's tactics, possession, possession, possession is simply sustained ne naivety. Losing 4-0 at home to Oxford United is unacceptable. Fair play to Oxford for taking their chances, deserve win. And I completely agree and I I echo those thoughts about Oxford. Mark Goodacre, obviously friend of the podcast, that my view on Russell Martin is that he's brand above football manager. Something I've mentioned as well, especially with Marty Cuentes, wanted to protect his brand rather than actually try and change things to improve the position of the football club. That might sound strange, but protecting his own brand for future employments. Total football philosophy, all risk, no reward, football. says all the right things like the best combination from the high performance podcast. Whilst I want him to succeed, I fear it's disaster of an appointment. And it seems that a lot of people turning on Russell Martin. There's gonna be a lot of focus on Russell Martin this week on for Foxake dot news. What's coming up this week on for Fox8.news? well at the moment, if you head to the website and again, five pounds to subscribe to forfox8.news, many thanks to everybody who have. And there's new subscribers all the time. And again, that five pounds, it's every month and it's in your hands. So you can cancel subscription or you can add it however you like. It's in your hands. You're not locked in. You can purchase for a year for £50 for the entire year. At the moment, I'm really looking forward to seeing the five things that we've learnt from the game against Oxford. That's going to be very important. Also, there's plenty on there regarding LCFC women. So Less City women are going to be starting their WSL two campaign. and there's plenty of thoughts from the former Fox Sophie Howard exclusively on for Fox8.news. Also a lowdown on a few of the news signings, including John Lundstrom, who might be straight into the first team. Also, my thoughts on where Walt Vass and Caleb O'Coley might still go from the King Power. we continue the countdown of our top 100 players. And we're between forty-four and forty. And there's a few stars from the late nineties, in amongst some stars from the sixties and seventies. And that will be out later in the week. There'll be plenty on what happened against Oxford on for Fox8.news as well. I can I can smell Andy Moore furiously writing about Russell Martin. Of course, if there's any big, big news, then there will be, of course, Plenty on for Fox8.news. Also, go back a week or so, maybe a week and a half, and read my Harry Souter Should Be Banished column. Somehow it seems to be a little bit more apt right now than maybe in the immediate game after my column about that. That's all on for fox8.news. Head there right now. A great present as well, if you want to buy someone a present. Subscription to forfox8.news. Now let's take a look at more headlines. George, LCFC Georgie says. Slowly losing the fan base after just five games in League One takes some doing. I was fully behind Martin despite what people were saying, but I don't see any way back for the club, let alone for him after today. Dark times. Now John Bennett from the BBC normally would be at Leicester, but he was at Manchester City. So he says, I was at Manchester City today and only score saw the score updates from the King Power Stadium. can anyone tell me what on earth happened? 4 0. The club is a huge problem. But the squad is now more than good enough for League One. No excuses for that. Jack Whiteman, he's had enough. Sack him tonight. Almost glad we got battered, as it means that he can go now, but a bit more colourful. Russell Martin may be the worst manager of all time. Now, Anthony Bennett kind of reflects the same kind of thoughts here because the only one good thing he says when Russell Martin does get sacked, which he will at some point. will be at least that we are not linked with Russell Martin. Again, I love that. That's my comment of the day. That is my comment of the headlines week, by the way, Anthony Bennett. I love that. It's very funny. Herb says the decline of Leicester City isn't just embarrassing anymore. It is frightening. Yes, I I I get that as well. I really do. Paul L I F D says he says sackable offence from Martin today. Is it? Do you agree? Or do you think he should give them more time? disgusting. And then throwing the young lads under the bus. Get out of our club. now talking about the the the the lads he threw under the bus, Russell Martin told the BBC after the game he's been speaking to BBC Radio Leicester and he says that they were naive and soft. And he says the learning is in the team was the learning is the team was too young and too inexperienced at the end. We're naive and a bit too soft. Now, obviously there were experienced players on the bench and there's Obvious reasons why some players maybe didn't start because they've just joined the club, etcetera. And I don't think we can wait long enough. I'll give them my two P at the end of this. Josh Holland from the Leicester Mercury, Russell Martin says at full time that Leicester City were too soft and naive. and he says it was unacceptable that they collapsed in the second half. WT Fox says this can't be true, can it, across the season in his last two campaigns at Rangers and Southampton. Martin has won just three of his last twenty eight games. I knew it was bad but not this bad. Marky Mark kind of leans towards my suitor thoughts. He goes, Let's talk about the captaincy of the club. Harry Souter, a player who more than likely wanted to leave in the summer, yes, didn't happen to be given the captain's armband, correct? if he gets injured suspended, who on earth in his current squad will take over as captain? Well, I would look at O'Hora, who was captain of Hibernian. Surely he should, or even Lundstrom. I would certainly give either of those the captain C right now. That would be my first port of call. Give them. Josh Holland says Warren O'Hora, Kangas Naimi and Liam Cullen all of a sudden come out of today looking the best, especially the defenders. Yes. The defence was absolutely shocking, is is one way of putting it in a in a Alan Hansen way. It really was dreadful. And obviously we've we've said that Thomas has been playing very well in centre half, but We need to bring in these new players. Lundstrom, O'Hora, they need to be in the first team straight away. Even Kangas Naomi, possibly, if he's fit, etcetera. So we'll see what happens, but we can't we need to bring these players in. We just need to straight away, straight away. And again, I would give O'Hora the captaincy. If he's been captain before and Lundstrom as well, one of them surely is the captain. now Matt Elliott actually he he did say former Leicester City and former Oxford, remember that's where he came from before signing for Leicester City. The best team Leicester have faced by a long way. So a bit of praise there for Oxford, and yes, I I think we do need to give it that, but of course we're we're looking at Leicester. now away from that, Katie B gets plenty of response, let's say that. She says L C F C equals an enigma. interesting comment. I include the fans in that, she says. Always one defeat away from imploding. The told you sows, the pylons, the singing outs, we lost. It was rubbish, she says something in a bit more stronger terms. But we'll go again. We're in League One. Time to properly accept it. Have you question mark? This is a project, and we'll all be there the next match. Okay, I get it. I I get her point of view. I would along those comments put we've brought a lot of players in. Let's wait until we've got them all fully fit. Next match, next two matches. In a couple of matches time, well three matches time, we're playing at home against Wigan. By then, if it's not turned around and we haven't seen a much improved display and we haven't got those players we've signed playing in the first team, then for me he will have to go. But I will give him those players that were signed by him, who he'd previously worked with, I'd give them a game or two to get in that team and then we see what Russell Martin's team's all about. But for now It's a right mess. Jordan says it's a tough situation at Leicester. The anger towards the owners and board is obvious. Has been for ages. but the young lads we've wanted won't take it all like that, and it makes the match days look harder. because of the slide, it's harder to accept. I'm not sure what the answer is. Yeah, it's it it is. And and and Ryan LCFC gives p ratings and he gives a one for Suter, one for Thomas, and and not much more for the rest. It's a real mess. And as you can tell from those comments on the headlines that there's there's not a lot of hope out there and it's anger, especially after the game, and that's that's very much a a case with football and I but for with this I think it's different because I don't think it will subside as we go through the weekend. This is being recorded on Saturday. So normally it's recorded on a Sunday where people maybe come out with a bit more of a you've slept on it and then you can have a a a slightly more ration thinking. I don't think the comments will change. And the headlines will change from Saturday to Sunday. I think this anger will now stay because it's such a dreadful result. We've got Stockport at the weekend who are flying. They're going really well. There were three up inside what 20 odd minutes today at a port Wigan. But I'm looking at that game in three weeks' time in a few weeks' time against Wigan at home. If he's gonna go, if he's gonna be sacked, that's the game. If they lose to Wigan at home, my word, that's him gone. We need to bring these players that we've signed quickly into the first team. They need to hit the ground running. They need to take the captaincy off suit. That's my opinion. We'll be talking about all this on the website, on for Fox8.news and on the podcast next week. Just a word on the podcast. Remember, if you're listening to this, you can watch the podcast now. This is an audio podcast headlines because it's just me talking into a mic, surrounded by newspapers, etc. you can listen to this, obviously, on Apple and Spotify. But you can watch the regular podcast. You can watch the normal for Fox8, you watch The women's football show, and you can watch the preview not only on our YouTube channel. Make sure you subscribe, but also you can watch on Spotify and you can now watch on Apple. On Apple Podcasts, you can watch the podcast. Obviously, this one, headlines, is just audio, but all the others will now be video. The first one was on last week. I always say that because it's taken me a while to get that working over a couple of weeks. A few emails back and forth between myself and the Good people at Apple, and it's up and running, and I'm delighted with it. So that's great news because the majority of people who listen to the podcast listen on Apple Podcasts. So that's great news. That's it for headlines this week. My word, there may well be some headlines during the week. I wouldn't be too sure if maybe on a Monday there may be a few headlines regarding this performance. Again, the papers, the wider press maybe then smelling blood. And trying to create not create a story but report on the story of Russell Martin and it all going wrong at Leicester. Of course, there is the option of major headlines, something being done by the board. Will they make the chop? We don't know. We shall wait and see. But one thing's for sure, we'll be talking about it all next week on the podcast and also writing about it on for Fox8.news. Subscribe now for Fox8.news, head over and also if you haven't gone there before and you're not a subscriber, you can Read one of those columns for free. There's one or two free ones on there. And my advice, click on news and you can see the transfer window roundup. And that is a free, it doesn't say members next to it, it's completely free. And essentially it goes through every single player, 14 of them brought in by the football club, and where from, and then a little line about them, and then all 30 who have left. I've gone through them all and it's a nice free column. It just gives you an insight into forfox8.news. Apart from that, stick around here on headlines. Give us a five-star rating because guess what? It helps Leicester City fans find the podcast. That's it from Pete Selby, from me, here at For Fox 8 with headlines. Hopefully next week we have a few better headlines. But I've got a feeling there may be some big headlines coming this week in one way, shape, or form. See you next time.
