Now what were the headlines? What was being said on social media? What was being said in the papers during the game? And also the day after as well. What made the headlines? Headlines that were made throughout the course of the week. In terms of the wider press, we spoke last week after the defeat to Oxford of how the wider press do not cover Leicester City anymore. And you have to go down the local press route not only here in Leicester, but also with our opponents. But The news was made nationally throughout the course of the week and Tom Colomosa over in the Daily Mail had a really scathing piece. There were two very important pieces that were released this week and a and a real deep dive from Tom on the problems at Leicester City, away from the first team problems we have at the moment. And during the week in the Daily Mail, a huge, huge piece on Leicester City and really dissecting the club and and the headlines that were carried by extra Leicester. on Twitter who went through all the headlines for us. And headlines including managers were left scratching their heads when the role did not develop as they've been advertised to them. And of course we're going back over a number of managers here with this. some senior staff have even wondered privately whether Top always knew their roles at the club. And then there was conversations with former players saying about Mark or Brighton who's quoted in saying if there's one club any would work with is it is Leicester. I thought there would must be some way that we all could pass our experience and try and get that culture back. There's never been any contact with me from the club regarding this. That's the interesting line from Mark Orbrighton. regarding John Rudkin, Tom carries on and says that Rudkin has topp's unconditional trust. I think something we all know. It's understood that he remained front and centre of Leicester's transfer dealings this summer, despite the two successive relegations. Now talk carried on to Seagrave. And the worries about Seagrave were called very early on. one senior figure was quoted saying it was too shiny after the club moved in. I think that's an easy line to say, because it was brand new, of course it was. And it was a huge step up from Beaver Drive. Others worried that the togetherness and earthness of the earthiness of the club's previous home at Beaver Drive closer to the city centre would be lost. But but again it's a massive training ground and and that would always be the case. But we get what they mean. then We kind of fast forward a little bit towards the the end zone slightly after that era. Players prefer to have long commutes to training, sometimes of more than a hundred miles rather than consider relocating. And when asked to stay overnight occasionally in one of the sumptuous rooms at the training ground, some would simply refuse. Again, slightly old news. We we know about this, but I put that down to the manager. And when I put it down to the manager, I say if the manager is a strong manager who's got the respect of the players, That can work. Martin O'Neill had players who lived down in London, Frank Sinclair, for example, and other players. Enzo, of course, had Winx and and and Vestigard at times. They they were obviously living away, and they were were playing fantastic for him. So it can work, but I think if you've got the respect to the manager, it works. If not, it it doesn't. there were former Premier League player who, believing he still deserves to be in the top flight, would stroll around defiantly during training sessions to the extent He was sent indoors by the then boss Marty Sefuentes. So we're moving through the time there and yeah, there we go. and also towards the end of the Brendan Rogers tenure, turning up on time for treatment or meetings was considered optional rather than necessary to by players. Senior executives were mocked openly by squad members. And I think it's not too hard to see which squ which senior members were being mocked. Mr. Rudkin, I would put that down too. also Ben Jacobs, also with an exclusive with the prospective Leicester owner Neil Lal. Now Neil Lal is the one person who's kind of raised his head above the parapet and said, Look, I want to buy the club. The thing is with Neil, he wants to lead a consortium. So personally, my personal opinion, I would take an awful lot of what he says and kind of dismiss it because he he's trying to raise a consortium who then have the money. It's not like he's a a self made millionaire or billionaire with the money. That's not the thing. And he says he's got a five year plan involving ex Leicester City players. Again, that sort of thing you would say. Willingness to put a fan representative on the board. And apparently Ben says there's two at least two of the bidders with the Turkey Al shake sounded out and of course we've got the September the fourteenth deadline for offers. So we'll see what happens going forward and he was writing for talksport there ben jacobs. So interesting that's what's going to happen this week and that will make the headlines but we shall see. also this is being recorded on a Sunday, one of the the stories that actually has broke on Sunday evening was that Team Talk at Team Talk they understand that Brucia Dortmund have been watching Louis Page quite closely and sent scouts to watch the teenager at the weekend. I think they would have been quite impressed. with Louis Page. More on that shortly. But yeah, Bruce Yortmond have gr joined the chase. But of course they're one of the hotbeds of of European football and especially young talent so it would be no surprise. now let's go through a few of the messages that were sent during the game and after the game on Saturday. A crazy match. there was a lack of overall coverage by the wider press and again that's not necessarily a bad thing, but also it's not necessarily unexpected as well, being Stockport against Leicester. Again, three o'clock on Saturday when there's an awful lot of football higher up the football pyramid. Fox in Chorley says it's absolute there's one story which is going to be a key here, by the way. Absolutely ridiculous to be doing this when the young team is winning. So we're talking we'll discuss this in a second and probably already feeling horrible pressure. Now the clowns that did this will have to too much of something slash or forgotten where they are, League One. U now that kind of sums up what happened on Saturday. Now, one of the stories was now Leicester fans when Leicester were winning four three, obviously under pressure, under the kosh, and they were singing about Russell Martin, your football is yeah, exactly. So you're winning, your team is hanging on, and then in the final ten minutes. they more than hung on really because they they started to clear the ball a bit more directly and I mean they weren't under too much pressure. But at the time that's that was being sung and there was a an argument online as to whether that was a good thing or not. you know, you're you're you're there watching your team. Yes there are wider problems, but let's get over the line here. Was that the right time to to to to be doing that? Again, everyone's got their own opinion, everyone's got the right to do whatever. But personally I I I would be more concentrating on that ninety minutes and that performance and heading them all clear, you know, and and and let's get over the line and then that can happen. But there was other things that happened after the final whistle which I think rolled on to that. Elm said, Steve, he's a regular on the podcast on the main show, this likely won't be very popular with a lot of you, but when you're winning the game but ultimately clinging on, the fans need to get behind the team and not boo. At some point we've got to accept we're in League One and do everything as fans to push the team on. And I I do agree with that. Now of course there are times to to say that. Maybe if you're winning 4-0 at home in with 10 minutes to go, you you can then talk about the wider issues at the club, maybe. But when you're hanging on 4-3 in the final few minutes, I yeah, I'm not too sure. Carl Meeson, back to the actual game itself, very impressed with Lundström, he says first half always looked available, strong and good on the ball. Mixing long and short passes And allowed Braybrook especially Paige to express themselves. Yeah, I thought Lundstrom had a brilliant game, and it was the communication. Matt Piper on BBC Radio Leicester was very key to put across that it was all about the communication from Lundstrom, including telling Paige exactly what to do with his under pressure and with the ball to then set up the the chances for for Reese to score. so very impressed with Lundstrom, obviously scored as well with a header. also he goes on to say, Carl, what do you know? Having a goal scorer is. Gets you proper finishing and very good to see Emily Reese score a couple and the second goal, especially good. LCFC data digs into a few stats and talks about Louis Page again. Stopport. 90 minutes played, 55 touches, 70%, 78% of accurate passes, two assists, three possibly, but one big chance created, four key passes, five progressive carries, a couple of shots, etc. A really good performance by Page. and then we during the game, obviously comments are made during the game and after Stopport drew on back, Jaco Alvarez says, Russell Dear, will we ever manager who doesn't trip himself up? We've got Sammy Braybrook playing as a nine without the ball. Who would have thought leaving Luke Thomas exposed and putting Alves on coverage duties would create a hold in the defence? It's enough to make you cry. It was slightly awkward there with at times with Alvez. Luke Thomas, I thought was poor once again. And again, Braybrook, a number of people commenting that he was maybe a little bit too far forward. Jim Hurst says highly unexpected three points, which we tried our hardest to throw away. Lundström was a meant in the middle and just got to what we need, especially when you've got Harry Bloody Suter behind you in defence giving three goals away. Shocking captain, good away day though. So I'm glad he had a good time. And yeah, it seemed like everyone had a good time there, but yeah. Really poor by Suter. Go back onto for Fox8.news, read my piece from two and a half, three weeks ago about how he shouldn't be playing. And now Russell Martin said about Admiral Briskich and also Christian McFarland's absence, Josh Holland for the Leicester Mercury reporting he says quote the same as last week, we wanted as many men in the squad as possible today, genuinely. we needed Ilari on the bench and Bade because they were defending because we were defending with a five. So essentially just That was a team that was picked, and we needed a certain amount of players on the bench in certain positions. So nothing really into that we shall see. Sean Sweeney commented during the game that it's really poor from our fans when you're 4-3 up and singing about Russell Martin's style of football. Again, we've been into that. LCFC 78 Lee. hello Lee. He says, not everyone's favourite, but he ain't going anywhere talking about the manager until a takeover happens as King Power or Skint. Don't boo or chant about the manager. After a win, it's not achieving anything. Currently, this club needs to get promoted to survive. Think about that. And that was in a comment regarding Russell Martin was asked about the supporters if they need to trust him. He says, I think the more we win, that will build the trust. I agree. The players showed that they trust us, they run for each other. It showed a lot about the team. I cannot control the noise at all, but winning will help. And I do agree with that. There was one major discussion point discussion points after the game as well and it was regarding whether Russell Martin came over and clapped. Now I'm just gonna say my piece. This is not a a headline, this is not someone's comments, this is my own thoughts. if you are, in my opinion, personal opinion, if you're obsessed by whether the manager came over or went straight down the tunnel or did he clapped the fans, I would say get over yourself. Really? Really? Is is is that what we're clinging onto now? I've seen footage and guess what? He goes round, he has a clap to the fans, he goes round shaking the hands of all the players, and then as the players came over to the pans, he then goes towards the tunnel and walks down the tunnel. So did he clap the fans? Yes, a little bit. Did he then shake hands with all the players? Yes. And then did he go down the tunnel? Yes. So he didn't str march down the tunnel straight away. Load of nonsense. And again, if you're a supporter and you've been shouting that his football is, you know when you're four three up and clinging on for three points and then after the game you're then bemoaning the fact that he's not come over and applauded the supporters. Yeah, get over yourself, in my opinion. You know, come on. Yeah, w we're bigger than that really. Is that something to moan about? so there we go. And again, you can shout that all you like. I'm not a fan of the football at all. And I'm not a fan of Russell Martin. But and you can sing that during the game, that's fine. But yeah, to then cry about the fact that he's not come over and applauded. Nah, no. I agree with Russell on that. You know, let's get s let's get some wins. Let's get some momentum first. Let's try anyway. are we all in agreement other than three points? says Fox fifty. and it should other than three points and it should mark the end of Russell Martin's reign. This is before the game. Stockport are a good team, but we are far stronger on paper. Absolutely, and I agree and I I I completely thought that we'll get beat at the weekend. I really did. Russell Martin again, I've been brought in and have some time to build something because the club has found itself in League One for whatever reason. it's had a lot of managers over the last two years and everyone in life in football and politics needs everyone wants change really quickly. in this modern day social media and all that stuff, it's difficult, but I really believe in the way the clubs behave this week and i there's been a lot of pressure on obviously after the 4-0 drobbing by Oxford and how it's reacted to last week inside the building. It's been amazing. I feel nothing but support, we get and will be really, really successful. Manish Persing from the BBC, after sixty-five minutes, from four one up to four three. Leicester just don't do comfortable. Absolutely. Ashley Parker, he says, not confident in at all today. fear in Stockport, this is how bad it's got. Well, Russell Martin needs to get his head out of his backside and start winning football matches. Well, this was obviously before the game. Hopefully it's calmed Ashley a little bit. Expecting a massive reaction from last week's show, let's put it that way. And he's had a week to prepare, so no excuses. Hopefully he was okay with the win. Chris Eaton after the game, what an insane football match, he says. what that was. Entertainment off the charts from both teams. Yes, exactly. And well played to to Stockport. Vards or at Book Rogers. Wishing Russell Martin all the best this afternoon at Stockport before the game. to all the vile toxic Leicester fans, hand back in your season tickets and keep well away from the club. We don't need you. So there is a little bit of tension there in the stands, isn't there? Those wanting to support the team and those who are talking maybe about wider issues, I can completely understand both points of you. And that's not me sitting on the fence. and then there was lots and lots of messages from accounts regarding just League One, all about League One. Also EFL as well, and they were saying that Leicester City Manager Russell Martin walked straight down the tunnel whilst the Foxes players came over to congratulate the away fans. No, they showed him walking down the tunnel when the players coming over, but they didn't show what happened before. So again, it's it's a a little bit it's an edited clip essentially, you know. In context, it's not quite right. and again, Lee Mills, who I think sums it up quite well, Mills nineteen eighty nine FB says Leicester fans quote Russell Martin, your football is exactly. also Leicester fans. Russell Martin is an idiot, let's say, for not coming and applauding the away fans. Exactly what I feel, you know, you can't have one without the other, essentially. and then LCFC block P. This is generally outrageous, talking about the the chance about Russell Martin at the end of the game, just before the end of the game. This is generally outrageous. I was in the away end yesterday, and how you can sing that whilst winning, by the way, is ridiculous. We are so far from where we need to be, but I don't care. I don't chant this whilst we are winning the game. And I think that's what a lot of people are saying. We're winning the game. We just need to build up a few wins. Don't s don't sing that whilst we're winning. plenty from Josh Holland in the Leicester Mercury. Again, he started his Leicester Mercury tenure very, very well. And he was talking about how things would change tactically in Leicester's win against Stockport, with an interesting side. Obviously Hohora came into the bat line with Souter, Joseph and Thomas then out wide, lunch from Anka into midfield. Many people saying Braybrook was a little bit too far forward and Alves was covering that side. Maybe it's because Thomas is on that side and Alves felt that he needs to. It it's I it's it's a little bit awkward, but The one thing I liked about the game and the one thing I like is player ratings. I'm big fan of player ratings, and Ryan LCFC three. he gave his player ratings against Stopport. So let's just go through these. he's got McCarthy five. Yep. Joseph five. O'Hora seven. Souter six. Thomas five. Are you agreement so far? I'm I'm pretty pretty solid on these. I would have gives her a five, maybe. Lundstrom he gives an eight. six for Braybrook, nine for Paige. Seven for Alves, eight for Cullen. Great for him to get his first goal. And ten for Reese, man of the match. yeah, I I kind of agree there, but I think I would have given Lundstrom maybe a nine and he would have been my man of the match over Reese, who obviously was was excellent. Paul Reed says, Congratulations to Liam Cullen on your first goal on your first club my goal for my first club. Obviously Paul Reed former Leicester player. hope he continues to deliver for LCFC. and a couple of final words from Becky T L C F C. What a strange game that was, she says. So glad we held on to the win because we looked so fragile all second half. felt like everyone was just waiting for the fourth to go in for Stockport. Someone walking out nailed it. It's the worst win I've ever seen. Felt drained at full time. Yes, we all did. and Ashley Parker, one last comment says Lundstrom was excellent today, was on it from the first whistle and looked hungry and ready for the fight, and not just here for the final payday. And I think that's a good way to end headlines because it was three points. There was lots of fallout in the stands, there was lots of fallout about what happened after the game. There was plenty of fallouts in the days leading up to the game in the national press, and I'd imagine plenty with this deadline of the fourteenth of September, so that's Monday, as you're listening to this. And we'll see what bids come in for Leicester as we build up towards the next game in League One. Plenty more on for Fox8.news. Head over, it's five pounds a month to subscribe. And for that you get full independence coverage of Leicester City and Leicester City women. We'll be back with podcasts next week. Of course we've got the preview for the next game and also the main podcast regarding the game against Stockport. That might go on for quite a while. Looking forward to that in a week. But for now, that's it for headlines. Crikey, we've got three points.
