Ascension Harmonics with Jonathan Goldman

Empowered Spirit Show- Episode #396 Ascension Harmonics with Jonathan Goldman

Episode Overview

In this episode, I welcome Jonathan Goldman — sound healing pioneer, musician, and author — for a wide-ranging conversation about his new book, Ascension Harmonics: Invoke the Divine Name for Vibrational Activation and Healing. Jonathan shares the origin story of his life's work, the discovery behind the book's central practice, the science backing sound healing, and even offers a live vocal toning demonstration.

About the Guest

Jonathan Goldman is a musician, author, and founder of the Sound Healers Association, Spirit Music, and Healing Sounds. He created a master's degree program in sound and music healing at Lesley University and is the founder of World Sound Healing Day, held every February 14th, which will mark its 25th year in 2027. His previous books and recordings include The Humming Effect, The Divine Name, and The Sounds of the God Code. His website is healingsounds.com.

Key Topics Discussed

• Jonathan's origin story — from playing in rock bands to a pivotal moment on stage that shifted his focus from performance to healing, and the mentor who introduced him to sound and color healing.
• "Frequency plus intent equals healing" — how Jonathan arrived at this foundational formula during his master's research at Lesley University, and why intentionality was once a radical idea in sound healing circles.
• The discovery behind Ascension Harmonics — Jonathan recounts the 1990s dream that led him to sound a vowel sequence moving from the crown chakra down to the root and back, and how it echoed the Tetragrammaton (the ancient Hebrew name of God).
• Vowel sounds as universal and trans-denominational — why Jonathan renamed the book from The Divine Name to Ascension Harmonics, and how vowel-based sacred sound shows up across many spiritual traditions.
• Physiological, emotional, and spiritual benefits of toning and humming — including increased oxygen in the cells, better lymphatic circulation, lower blood pressure and heart rate, increased melatonin, endorphin release, nitric oxide and oxytocin release, and improved heart rate variability and vagal tone.
• Psychoacoustics vs. vibroacoustics — the two primary ways sound affects the body, from the ear/brain pathway to the cellular and molecular level.
• The science of collective sound healing — Jonathan discusses Roger Nelson's Global Consciousness Project at Princeton, the HeartMath Institute's research (Dr. Rollin McCraty), and the Maharishi Effect, connecting collective compassionate intention to measurable shifts.
• World Sound Healing Day — the annual February 14th global "ah" toning event, and its research into planetary and collective consciousness effects.
• Sound, crystals, and light — the interplay between sound healing, crystal work, and color/light harmonics.
• A live demonstration — Jonathan performs an invocation to Chamael, angel of sacred sound, followed by a sustained vocal toning of the Divine Name.
• Where to learn more — free downloads, workshops, and resources available at healingsounds.com.

Memorable Moments

• We reflect on how naturally children respond to sound, humming, and toning — illustrated through a story about the host's young grandson.
• Jonathan shares a personal experience on the morning of the interview (8/8, the "Lion's Gate") sensing an intense flow of solar/cosmic energy while intoning the Divine Name.
• Jonathan closes the episode with a reflection on how self-created sound offers a direct connection to Source — calling it "a hotline to the divine."
