Stranger Supreme | #94

Part 3 of our comeback episode (s), we close things out with a wide-ranging discussion on storytelling, ethics, and cultural debate in modern media.

We start with Stranger Things Season 5, sharing reactions to the final chapter, what the series may bring in the future, and whether it stuck the landing after nearly a decade in the spotlight.

From there, we dive into Pluribus, unpacking the show’s philosophical and ethical questions — from individuality vs collectivism to moral compromises to death by euphoria — and why it’s sparking deeper conversations than many other series before it.

We also discuss Marty Supreme and the discourse surrounding its reception, particularly the controversy around its recognition at the Critics Choice Awards and comparisons to Sinners. We explore how awards narratives are shaped, what gets deemed “prestige,” and how cultural bias can influence critical recognition.

This episode wraps up Part 3 of our 3-part comeback conversation, bringing the discussion full circle on art, culture, and entertainment.
