Tara is a repeat guest, and she first appeared on the podcast on episode 301 in April of 2023. Tara is a retired psychologist and now helps her son with his dog training business. She shares her journey with intermittent fasting, which she began in March 2022. Initially, she was motivated by the need for change after years of caring for family and constant travel. Tara has experienced significant weight loss, dropping 60 pounds overall, and found that fasting fit seamlessly into her lifestyle. Despite facing challenges like plateaus and stress, she remained committed to the practice, emphasizing the importance of adapting fasting windows to her daily life.
Tara discusses the impact of life events, such as her husband's health scare, on her fasting journey. These experiences prompted her to prioritize her own health and well-being. She highlights the importance of listening to her body, adjusting her eating windows, and focusing on nourishing foods. Tara's story illustrates how intermittent fasting became a sustainable lifestyle rather than a quick fix, allowing her to maintain her weight loss and improve her overall health.
For those new to intermittent fasting, Tara advises embracing the process as an evolution rather than a revolution. She emphasizes the importance of patience and self-compassion, encouraging listeners to enjoy the present moment and the gradual changes that come with it. By leaning into life's experiences and allowing time for the body to adapt, Tara believes that the journey becomes more rewarding and sustainable.
