Why Does Resistance Come Right After You Obey God? (Luke 4:1-13) | Daily Devotional & Bible Study

Have you ever said yes to God and then watched everything get harder? Luke 4 shows us why.

We're starting Luke chapter 4 in our fall Bible study, and before we get to the three temptations, there's something in the first two verses most of us read right past. Jesus was full of the Holy Spirit, and the Spirit is the one who led Him into the wilderness. The hard season wasn't a detour from the assignment. It was part of it. Today we look at the forty days, why that number matters, and how Jesus fought as a Spirit-empowered man rather than by pulling rank.
