00:00:00
Speaker 1: The Frames Per Second Podcast.
00:00:07
Speaker 2: What's going on? It's your boy, Nick. I'm here with super producer, Jalen. How you doing, sir? I'm good, bro.
00:00:15
Speaker 3: You?
00:00:16
Speaker 2: I'm all right. I'm all right.
00:00:17
Speaker 4: I'm also here with I Am Spike Lu of the On Deck TV show and another week in the books.
00:00:21
Speaker 2: How you doing, man? What up, bro? And Kenneth B. Inge. How you doing, sir? Hola.
00:00:27
Speaker 4: Good. And you're now tuning into the Frames for Second podcast. And in this episode, we are continuing on with our weekly recaps of the hit HBO original series coming from the DC Universe titled Lanterns. With this recap being dedicated to episode five called Lights Out.
00:00:47
Speaker 2: We got three episodes left, I think. Am I right, Jay?
00:00:50
Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah. Which is interesting because the way they ended this, we could walk away.
00:00:59
Speaker 2: Well, most of us. I don't know about how.
00:01:00
Speaker 5: But what were y'all overall thoughts on this episode? I'll start with you, Lou.
00:01:06
Speaker 2: Action packed, man.
00:01:07
Speaker 3: I feel like last week was maybe the worst episode and that wasn't bad either.
00:01:12
Speaker 2: But this episode, it got right to it.
00:01:14
Speaker 3: This felt like, you said, it felt like a season finale versus more so just a mid-season. But They did pose more questions. I liked that they wrapped up some of the storylines. Now I'm interested to see where they go with the whole Green Lantern thing. They did enough for me to get me engaged and interested in the story, not knowing any backstory or about Green Lantern. Now I'm interested in the story and the lore and the mythical shit of it that they get into for the rest of the season.
00:01:40
Speaker 2: So I'm here for it. What about you, Jay?
00:01:45
Speaker 4: Good episode, but What this episode told me is they must be got some fucking heat at the back end of this damn season, bro.
00:01:52
Speaker 2: It gotta be.
00:01:53
Speaker 4: Because for you to drop this in the middle of the season, you got some shit coming. So yeah, Action Pack definitely was high octane as far as it kept moving. There was a couple of homies I wanted to talk to about some stuff that are more D.C. living, but you know, niggas been watching football and shit.
00:02:14
Speaker 6: So, niggas ain't responding to me.
00:02:16
Speaker 2: You too, nigga. You niggas.
00:02:18
Speaker 6: Nigga, I watch the Saints and the Saints only. That's it, nigga.
00:02:21
Speaker 2: It's football to me.
00:02:22
Speaker 4: But Sunday Night Football was on and niggas was not Cowboys and Giants.
00:02:26
Speaker 6: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:02:28
Speaker 2: He's not talking. But, yeah, man.
00:02:31
Speaker 4: This is a great episode. It hasn't been a bad episode yet, which I'm appreciative of. But, again, it gets kind of nervous because it's like, y'all have given me heat all the way up here and this is top tier action.
00:02:44
Speaker 6: Y'all got to keep going now.
00:02:47
Speaker 3: I will agree with Jalen. When this episode was over, I was like, how the fuck they going to top this? That's literally what I said. I was like, okay, where they going with this?
00:02:55
Speaker 1: I think, Spike, if you had to rank the episodes, since they're all good, the last one probably would have been last, which is not an indictment, which is not grading in terms of best to worst. on his own, but it's just like in the rankings, it would just kind of be in the bottom of the order. So I think, you know, kind of looking at it that way helps people frame it from a good to worse perspective. But I think, no, this was really, really good. Definitely a lot of action, which I appreciate it. And they've kind of been slowly building it up to here. I think just to kind of also talk about what you guys were mentioning, it has to be Sinestro.
00:03:43
Speaker 2: I think that's the only thing left.
00:03:44
Speaker 1: And how they can do anything with it, what they're going to do and how, I don't know. But that has to be the play that's left. Because I'm with you guys. I don't know where they can go or what they can do from here.
00:03:55
Speaker 2: You can't fight the Guardians. I mean, you could, but you have to build it out.
00:04:02
Speaker 5: Yeah, I actually, I don't know. I still like episode four.
00:04:05
Speaker 4: Maybe I watched this episode in pieces because I was staying up late watching football. And I think I watched like half of it. last night and I finished it just before we recorded. And it was, it's a really good episode. Again, I got to watch it again in life from start to end to kind of understand my true feelings on it.
00:04:25
Speaker 5: But I still really loved how episode four ended.
00:04:29
Speaker 4: Like this, this ended, like I said, in such a conclusion that I'm like, it does feel like we're about to start season two this Sunday.
00:04:37
Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
00:04:38
Speaker 6: Like, but I, I, I still hold.
00:04:42
Speaker 4: For in high regard because of the, the, the detective kind of analyst of like how, how found out that Zoe was the man Hunter through John and like, and how he reacted to it.
00:04:53
Speaker 5: Like, I still love how that ended.
00:04:55
Speaker 4: And I don't think this episode really ended like that for me with that kind of cliffhanger. Um, it just more ended on such of like, okay, we're moving on to a whole new chapter that we better, that I hope is as good as this last chapter. Um, you think, I guess I'm curious because we was in a group and then he commented on the Patreon post and they were asking where was Rod and Mike and Mike commented that it's just.
00:05:20
Speaker 6: Boring to him. He ain't enjoying it. You think this will be the episode that actually bring him in?
00:05:25
Speaker 4: No, I think he needs to wait to the end of the season. Again, if you think it's boring right now, this episode ain't going to move you. This episode is probably going to more so confuse you because I'm confused about a couple things that are pillars of this episode.
00:05:40
Speaker 5: Like The action is great. I'm not denying that. The action was really great.
00:05:43
Speaker 2: I loved it.
00:05:44
Speaker 4: There was some surprises in that, too. But it was also, like, the story of this episode was like.
00:05:50
Speaker 2: Well, what the fuck?
00:05:51
Speaker 6: Like, I was thinking, like.
00:05:54
Speaker 4: And we'll get to it, but we start off this.
00:05:56
Speaker 2: Is this... Oh, go ahead. Is this in the same world as Peacemaker? Yes. They do the different timeline shit, too. Okay, got it. I mean, it's in a different.
00:06:03
Speaker 4: This is in 2016, so I don't know where Peacemaker was at in 2016.
00:06:06
Speaker 2: But it's the same timeline. It's the same universe and all that.
00:06:09
Speaker 1: Got it.
00:06:09
Speaker 4: Mm-hmm. Um, we start off this episode back, going to talk about timelines, back in 2007. And we get the origin story of Sheriff Kelly and how she became a resident of Rushville, Nebraska. Um, Ken, what did you think about how we started this episode with Kelly, who was on the run?
00:06:27
Speaker 6: Nah, nah, Nick. Nah, Nick.
00:06:28
Speaker 4: No, we ain't gonna let Ken go. We gonna start off with us. Cause nigga, we was right as fuck. We said something was up. We said last episode something was up with the fucking sheriff.
00:06:38
Speaker 2: Oh yeah. Yeah.
00:06:39
Speaker 4: So I just want to take props for being like this. If you want to take props, you interrupted. Go ahead, answer the question. As soon as the shit opened and she sat down, I knew it was some shit. I knew she was in on that shit.
00:06:53
Speaker 6: Everything was going on.
00:06:54
Speaker 4: Because it felt like she was always in the right place at the right time. And they just let her get away with too much shit if she was supposed to be the opposition. So when they opened up with this scene, the first thing was I was right. but then like the cutting of the finger and all that bruh it's like damn like I don't know I ain't gonna lie to you I would've just told them niggas to kill me I ain't got the heart I ain't got the heart I wouldn't I wouldn't have done that Jay I would've cut off one of they fingers and just matter of fact you could've yeah you could've cut off the dead nigga well no he's black that's probably why he's black yeah yeah yeah and it was it was fucked up they took him out she took him out first which pissed me off.
00:07:34
Speaker 2: Yeah she didn't give him no choice But I.
00:07:37
Speaker 4: Guess because she heard the other nigga talking more, he was like, oh, he must be in charge.
00:07:42
Speaker 2: Ken, what were your thoughts on how this episode opened up?
00:07:47
Speaker 1: Well, what Jalen said was that when it happened, I was like, y'all's suspicions were correct about her and what her role is in that.
00:08:01
Speaker 2: Town, her overall involvement. Cause she was from Gotham.
00:08:05
Speaker 1: The funny thing is they threw that in there and we'd never really kind of questioned like what the hell she was doing in Gotham of all places. Um, and now to come to find out she was running with some officers or something like that. And, um, and her dad was a snitch and she was trying to get away. So, uh, uh, yeah, I think it was just confirmation. Now we just got a confirmation for you guys. And then we got, uh, we saw her role in all of this. Because when she cut the finger off, I was like, I could have swore she had all five. And then I remember them saying that she heals everybody. And I was like, she's got to put her finger back unless she's got some fake shit running around that we don't know about. And that's what ended up happening.
00:08:52
Speaker 4: Well, the lore of Sheriff Kelly in the comics is that she is She's Batwoman in a universe. She ended up being connected to the Batman shit heavily. The people will actually in the comments, but she is somebody that we should... Yeah, she's connected to Batman somehow, someway, or at least Barbara Gordon, something like that. I don't give a fuck about it, but I do like how this episode started off because Lou, for me, This made me look at Zoe totally different after just this intro.
00:09:33
Speaker 2: I don't know if you share the same thoughts.
00:09:36
Speaker 3: If they had led with this and all the jokes that we had about why was he attracted to her and all these different things, I feel like they wouldn't have been there.
00:09:44
Speaker 2: I agree with you. And I thought the same thing.
00:09:46
Speaker 3: I said, damn, they should have started with this as far as her having that type of attitude. And I know she couldn't be that upfront with him. as she was with her because, again, the back against the wall thing and the whole speech that she gave her, but the way that they presented the character in this scene, ultimately captivating.
00:10:04
Speaker 2: It's like, Oh shit, who is this? She ain't been at the whole series.
00:10:09
Speaker 4: For me, it's like, she's like, uh, she's a humanoid xenomorph. Like she's a parasite. Like she, it made me look at her totally different because she was nefarious the whole time. Like there's nothing like the, the whole time you thinking like, Oh, maybe she's just like, you know how they always have those, uh, Jay, you know what I'm talking about? They always have those aliens that are supposed to be the criminals, but they're actually the, the victims or like the people that are actually trying to, this motherfucker wasn't that good at all. She was literally what they said she was. She just was a sexy grandma.
00:10:44
Speaker 2: That's all.
00:10:45
Speaker 4: Like to me, Lou, it still don't make sense why he was like intoxicated by her because they keep saying oh she just has like man hunters they just do this thing where they end up just sleeping with you and then you just wrapped up in their shit i'm like well you got to be attracted to him first right i get ugly i get anton's reasoning because he ugly as hell but but but john is like you can have the baddest Never mind. They say we being disrespectful to the actor that's playing Zoe.
00:11:17
Speaker 6: That's the baddest chick in Westfield. That ain't no issue.
00:11:22
Speaker 4: I'm just saying, Jay, I know the lore of Jon Stewart.
00:11:26
Speaker 5: Give me somebody in the lore of Jon Stewart.
00:11:29
Speaker 2: That's the baddest chick in the city.
00:11:32
Speaker 3: You believe that? Yeah, it's a population of a thousand. Yeah, she probably the baddest chick there.
00:11:39
Speaker 6: But I mean... If you could pick to be any.
00:11:45
Speaker 6: Come on, man. You could be... What's her name?
00:11:47
Speaker 2: She explained it, though. I think the explanation was good.
00:11:51
Speaker 4: You taking that explanation. My thing is only based off of this. We got A-list actors.
00:11:58
Speaker 2: No, no. Okay.
00:12:01
Speaker 3: I'm seeing her explanation for being like that. She couldn't have been too pretty as an Indian woman in middle America.
00:12:07
Speaker 2: North Indiana.
00:12:10
Speaker 3: Because of how she explained why she took that disguise in the first place.
00:12:13
Speaker 2: Like she was trying to fit in. She just said that she just wanted to be a nigga. No, she said she wanted to be less privileged.
00:12:20
Speaker 3: And even in middle America, I would probably assume maybe Indians get treated just as bad as worse as blacks.
00:12:25
Speaker 2: But that ain't the point.
00:12:27
Speaker 3: The point is she couldn't have been too pretty because she wouldn't have got treated bad.
00:12:31
Speaker 6: And when you say Indian, you mean the Southeast Asian, right?
00:12:34
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:12:35
Speaker 6: You think they get worse than the biggest?
00:12:38
Speaker 2: I did.
00:12:38
Speaker 3: I was midway through that when I said that, Jay.
00:12:42
Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm about to say. I don't think that at all. Thank you for catching me.
00:12:47
Speaker 4: My only thing is that a white millionaire can have the baddest chick. in the city and the town, because he's a white millionaire.
00:12:54
Speaker 2: So I wouldn't, that's what I'm saying.
00:12:56
Speaker 4: Again, that's the last time I'm bringing this up, but it was still, it still didn't make sense plot-wise for why, like, does she give off pheromones? Is it like, you know what I'm saying? Like, when she has you locked in.
00:13:07
Speaker 2: Does she.
00:13:07
Speaker 3: He ain't explain shit, bro.
00:13:11
Speaker 2: We don't get to him.
00:13:12
Speaker 4: But I mean, to me, I would have more of a gripe that she wasn't a nigga, because she said she needed to be at the bottom.
00:13:19
Speaker 6: You know what I'm saying?
00:13:20
Speaker 4: Like, I would, I would think you would want to go there, but I guess you need some type of privilege.
00:13:26
Speaker 2: Well, I guess I understand. Like to me, Jay is like, she said.
00:13:32
Speaker 6: They're aliens.
00:13:32
Speaker 4: So they don't know the full, they don't care to go through the full history. You see how the guardian street niggas, like they were like, bro, we didn't even know y'all really work like that. Nor do we give a fuck with, with her. She, and then she comes from the same area. It's just like, bro, I just look, I just know that I need to start at the bottom. Y'all don't care about minorities like that. So I'm just going to pick one. Like she's, Again, she picked the brown skin. She was like, brown or black? She chose brown. Because don't nobody want to be black. You ain't got to.
00:14:00
Speaker 2: Even the Dale Garnett.
00:14:01
Speaker 4: Even if you was Dale Garnett, you see all these aliens.
00:14:05
Speaker 2: All these aliens. I want to go almost, but not.
00:14:08
Speaker 6: All the way. I ain't going back.
00:14:12
Speaker 4: You know how we play Madden franchise, and we got to create our own head coach.
00:14:17
Speaker 2: Everybody in there pick black. why why we picked the black we got a choice.
00:14:24
Speaker 4: We got a choice and we still going black oh boy um but yeah I thought that was I just I just found that really interesting that Zoe was a snake from jump and it removed all my care and empathy for that motherfucker like completely out of the show um and after that we head back to 2016 we jump forward where we pick up from the last episode and see how truly not give a fuck about John anymore based on the situation he left him in. Lou, what did you think about how this scene played out with how both Hal and Zoe left John hanging like an unnoticed booger?
00:15:06
Speaker 2: This is when they were in the diner and everything.
00:15:09
Speaker 4: No, this is when he was in the car. Nigga, just like from the last episode.
00:15:13
Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
00:15:14
Speaker 3: Yeah, Hal got out and she let him fry in there so he would need her for help. Yeah, I mean, I felt like neither one of them really fucked with him. Both of them was really stringing him along. Hal even was so on the back end after he figured out he was going to do what he wanted as far as replacing him. But, yeah, I feel like he got what he deserved in the sense of how the characters looked at him. Not how I look at him as a viewer, but how they was looking at him. Yeah, they're going to leave you right there to the right because you a threat to both of them.
00:15:44
Speaker 5: Hey, I was, again, sorry about this. salty about this.
00:15:52
Speaker 4: You could be salty but i mean he deserved it you know what you get you know what you get like i mean you've been messing with her with your nose wide open my nigga like you know better you know better so you shouldn't feel no way that she did this to you bro.
00:16:11
Speaker 6: Like I mean, you get it. I got it. I mean, that's how I feel.
00:16:17
Speaker 4: I get why you salty because she should have been like more empathetic to my boy. But at the same time, it's like you've had your nose wide open. You find out she was a man hunter. You knew all these things, but you still moving around like everything good.
00:16:30
Speaker 6: Like she's supposed to help you. Nah, bro.
00:16:34
Speaker 5: I'm salty because of how stupid he was.
00:16:37
Speaker 6: Okay.
00:16:38
Speaker 4: I was salty because it was like, Again, it didn't explain why he was so infatuated with her. If he knew she was capable of this, and I guess we're supposed to assume that to a certain degree. Like you mentioned, again, I'm only going off of the character they've shown. John is a calculated person, as he not can. He's very smart. He doesn't get attached to nothing. And it's just like, how did this thing corrupt you this way?
00:17:04
Speaker 2: What? Why don't you take dude's explanation for her?
00:17:07
Speaker 4: Because, Louis, you listen to everything the white man tell you.
00:17:12
Speaker 6: Is that what you want me to say?
00:17:14
Speaker 3: But you're saying she didn't release pheromones. I thought that sounded like that's what she was doing.
00:17:20
Speaker 6: He didn't say shit.
00:17:21
Speaker 2: He just said, we just fucking.
00:17:23
Speaker 6: Nah, it sounded like she got a special talent.
00:17:26
Speaker 2: It's between the legs.
00:17:27
Speaker 4: Nah, it did sound like it was a talent. Like she got the pheromone. There's a pheromone on the track. She knows how to get the person.
00:17:33
Speaker 6: All right, bro.
00:17:40
Speaker 3: Almost like a hypnotized or something. That's how I took it.
00:17:43
Speaker 4: There's a song called Hypnotized by Akon. And honestly, if we're really keeping it a book, that would make even more sense on why I'm not trying to be like you, but why she is not like.
00:17:58
Speaker 6: The Holly Berry looking. You know what I'm saying? Because any nigga is going to be attracted to Holly Berry.
00:18:06
Speaker 4: As compared to if it makes it more believable, like, oh, this is why he's trying, because she has the ability to admit something that makes this nigga fall, like, just get weak to her. So that makes a little bit more sense than actually just having some fine-ass woman come up to you, because what niggas say, you know, to some fine-ass woman.
00:18:22
Speaker 6: And you just sit at the bar, and she basically say, I want to fuck in my truck.
00:18:25
Speaker 2: All right.
00:18:26
Speaker 6: Like, every nigga's going to say yeah to that.
00:18:28
Speaker 2: That truck right there.
00:18:29
Speaker 4: Yeah, I agree with that shit.
00:18:36
Speaker 2: John... This was messed up from both. I think he was definitely betrayed by both.
00:18:42
Speaker 1: I was really surprised that Hal went as far as he did. When he said, I got to take you off the game board, I thought he was just like, I'm going to just leave you in the car, not to die. I don't know how Hal was willing to go that far.
00:18:58
Speaker 2: Especially as a so-called hero.
00:19:01
Speaker 1: That was a lot, and it really shows how threatened he was to leave that man to, well, he didn't, to leave him to die in the car, but more importantly, for her to let that motherfucker burn up. And she just looked at him. He just screaming at the top of his lungs for help. And she just watched him. We found out the reason why, but it's just like, I was like, God damn. But I don't think John knew. Yeah, John, no one knows how ruthless John Zoe was in that town. Like we have people that were hunting her, telling her, telling us how ruthless she was. But now we finally got a chance to see it and why everybody was so afraid and why she has that town on lock.
00:19:50
Speaker 4: But even though, Ken, I gotta disagree with that because, again, I'm going off of what they've shown. John literally had the memories of what Manhunters do to a civilization implanted in his brain.
00:20:02
Speaker 6: So that's what I'm saying, Jay.
00:20:04
Speaker 5: It's like, it don't make no sense for why this is.
00:20:07
Speaker 4: Again, this was post him fucking her the first time But for them to even continue to be fucking or even have some type of relationship, it just didn't make... Again, we're just going off of naivete on him being the quote-unquote rookie and learning how to be.
00:20:23
Speaker 6: A good cop. I get it.
00:20:26
Speaker 5: Again, after this episode review, I'm never bringing this shit up again.
00:20:29
Speaker 4: But it just didn't make sense for how he knows all this and is still making that choice based off the nigga.
00:20:36
Speaker 5: That he is.
00:20:37
Speaker 2: I think it's just.
00:20:40
Speaker 1: We just talked about Troy. And we saw two... Well, we saw one powerful man make a decision over a woman. So a woman, regardless, can make men do stupid as shit. It's just something that happens when there's this connection that happens between this other.
00:21:10
Speaker 2: Person that we're involved with and we just lose all self-control.
00:21:15
Speaker 4: I also feel like he didn't know that she was a Manhunter until.
00:21:21
Speaker 2: When was that?
00:21:22
Speaker 6: There had to be.
00:21:25
Speaker 4: After she got killed, right? He didn't know for sure until she died. That was the last time he smashed. He was just attracted to the woman.
00:21:34
Speaker 6: He didn't know. You're saying that he had.
00:21:37
Speaker 4: This implanted of what manhunters do to society, but I don't think he completely knew. Jay, if there was a potential pedophile that lived next door to you, would you befriend them? You have a suspicion that they're a pedophile, but you have no evidence. Would you still befriend them?
00:21:57
Speaker 2: This is a manhunter. That's what I'm saying.
00:21:59
Speaker 6: Ken trying to say, that's not a woman.
00:22:00
Speaker 5: That's a manhunter.
00:22:01
Speaker 2: That's a human.
00:22:02
Speaker 4: That's a thing. That is not a human thing. If this was a human connection, then I get it. But he knew that this is a potential villain and he still pursued the potential. And then it was, and then he got the word. Yeah.
00:22:15
Speaker 2: You don't trust my bed. He said, because he didn't trust, um, the guardians. He trust nobody. Exactly.
00:22:24
Speaker 4: But your example of, but this all, everything you're saying gives credence to the ability that she has.
00:22:30
Speaker 6: That's why your example of the pedophile don't really work.
00:22:32
Speaker 4: Cause it ain't like the pedophile, unless the pedophile has some secret power that like draws me near them or some shit like that.
00:22:40
Speaker 6: Like, That's different, bro. I think all this is giving credence to the power that she has.
00:22:45
Speaker 2: What if it was a sexy pedophile?
00:22:47
Speaker 5: What if she looked bad and she was a pedophile?
00:22:50
Speaker 2: You getting the mail for her?
00:22:59
Speaker 4: And I don't have no, if I ain't got no, listen, she ain't, listen, I ain't got no kids. I just make sure my nieces and nephews never come over.

00:23:59
Speaker 4: While John is getting cooked like some barbecue tofu since he's vegan and shit, we see that the whole town of Rushville is gearing up, Lou.
00:24:08
Speaker 5: Everybody in the city got strapped.
00:24:10
Speaker 4: To protect Zoey, who we now for sure know is the Manhunter that everybody's been targeting. And they even got Sheriff Kelly on the side, as we see from the beginning of this episode of Intro. Jay, did you agree with her reasoning, Sheriff Kelly's that is, for protecting Zoey when she was confronting, uh, Hal in the street. I, I don't, yeah.
00:24:38
Speaker 6: I don't disagree with it. I don't disagree with it.
00:24:41
Speaker 4: Um, because there's a part of her that owes it to Zoe, but she also sees the danger that Zoe is. So I don't completely disagree with it. Um, In that position, especially when she don't really have no power over this person that is an alien. I seen her kill somebody in front of me. I know what they're capable of. They have the power of the city around them. Now, I know that it's wrong, but they also are giving me a safe haven because there's other shit out there that is capable of killing me. So I'm trying to play the line of like, yo, I'm going to give you an opportunity to get the fuck up out of here. But at the same time, my hands are kind of tied.
00:25:18
Speaker 6: So no, I wasn't mad at the decision making she made in this scene. and then see.
00:25:23
Speaker 5: Lou, did this low-key make you fuck with Sheriff Kelly more?
00:25:28
Speaker 3: Uh, I fuck, yeah, it did make me fuck with her a little bit more. You talking about when she, he held his shield up and she was shooting at him?
00:25:37
Speaker 4: Yeah, she was like, cause I, cause she got satellites, she could see everything, so we having this conversation, but I gotta pretend like I'm trying to get you.
00:25:43
Speaker 3: And I felt her point of view too, like, just leave, nigga, like, everything was cool before you got here, like, and it would be cool if you left too, so like, I understand that we're in danger or you're like come chasing this space monster. But at the end of the day, we was cool before you got here. So I do understand what she said, what she was saying.
00:26:04
Speaker 5: As Lou was just finishing his point, I was thinking.
00:26:09
Speaker 4: Could have probably left and just said that the Manhunter wasn't trying to take over the world. The Manhunters was trying to be in Rushville, Nebraska, being a man, whatever. do you still agree with Hal for pursuing this case? Or is it to his detriment and maybe to his pride and ego that he just, if I'm on a case, I'm on a case no matter what?
00:26:34
Speaker 1: Hal is fully aware of how dangerous they are. So he's behaving in the way that you think John should behave once he got the intel. Except Hal's just been around and he has the experience and He knows the stories and he's probably have seen the destruction and devastation that they left behind.
00:26:57
Speaker 2: So it made sense for him in all of.
00:27:01
Speaker 1: His arrogance that we've seen in the first five episodes that he would not let this go. So I get him not willing to leave because Hal doesn't listen to anyone anyway.
00:27:13
Speaker 2: He don't even listen to his own boss.
00:27:15
Speaker 1: So he damn sure ain't gonna listen to some damn white woman he just met. who's trying to convince him to leave the city. I mean, her reasoning made sense. Things were fine. She has a kid there. And we could just get back to how things were if you just leave. But he's like, at this point, there are some guys that are on their way here that's going to fuck up this whole city anyway.
00:27:47
Speaker 2: So... One way or the other, this shit will get resolved. I get that. You're right.
00:27:57
Speaker 4: I didn't say how has been the most consistent character. So if you want to keep it, keep it a bead. He, as soon as he knew what that was, we didn't know. That's what I love about this show. We didn't know until this episode, of course, but he knew, like you said, care from the jump, we.
00:28:11
Speaker 2: Got to take this motherfucker out.
00:28:13
Speaker 4: And boy, uh, we learned all the reasons why we should, because we didn't see, uh, Zoe isn't totally dismissive of John as she did rescue him. Um, And that's the weird thing about the first episode, how it ended is like, we know who's living and who's dying. So it's like, you can't really suspend too much like, oh shit, what's going to happen next kind of thing. Because we find out that she did rescue him, but she literally let him cook in his rental.
00:28:41
Speaker 2: Ken. Did you understand there's always reasoning.
00:28:48
Speaker 4: For why she let John fry like an egg on a sidewalk of a summertime in Atlanta?
00:28:55
Speaker 2: Did it make sense to you?
00:29:05
Speaker 1: It's a formula that has worked for her. So, no, it did not because she already had him apparently enthralled in everything that she was doing. However, Just in case he did flip, what's a way that I can get him on my side if Hal and the Guardians managed to convince him otherwise is to save his life and have him indebted to me and his wife. seemingly with everybody in that city. So it made sense for her to just go with the status quo that has worked. Now, when I'm looking at it, I was like, you didn't have to really do all that. But for her, it was a form of insurance that she had. But it was fucked up.
00:29:59
Speaker 4: It stupid fucked up that's again another reason why i was like okay i don't i don't care for her at all this is how she gets leverage on everybody she's like i gotta have you old like you just gotta owe down any way i can i get you all down but lou i gotta ask you this is for the streets because you know they hit me up every now and then when the show going on and i got a report out but they got a question for you they said we asked this to lou please it says jonathan Or do you believe he was coming up with a game plan to take out Zoe since the last episode? And I'm going all the way back since when him and Howard were in the car before he crashed it, and he was like, I didn't know for sure, but I had a suspicion. Do you think post-car crash, he was like, if I see Zoe again, I got to take her out?
00:30:48
Speaker 2: That's a good question because... One thing this episode did.
00:30:53
Speaker 3: Show me is that John isn't as good an investigator as Hal is. So while he may have thought that he just needed more time to get confirmation or do whatever he was going to do since he did notice was the Manhunter, I do think it was kind of simpish because he's just not good at that. I don't think he would have came up with a good plan. He wouldn't have been able to take her out. That's why he hesitated anyway once he found out who it was. I think that's one of the biggest differences that they've shown between Hal's character and John's character. The reason that Hal, like you said, he been on go. And once he found out who it was, he's trying to get her out of there is because he is a much better investigator. He believes in his skill set when it comes to figuring shit out way more so than John does, which is why John is coming off simplest because he should have took care of this problem a long time ago before he got fried like an egg on the sidewalk, like you said.
00:31:51
Speaker 4: But Jay, to me, I'm thinking about this scene where he's like, he's just letting Zoe talk. Because he even asked her, like, you killed Alvin, sir, didn't you? Or the nigga that Hal got the ring from. And she was like, yeah, I had to because he was the only nigga that was aware that I was still alive and I was here. So even though he helped me, I had to take him out so I can make sure no one else would know.
00:32:12
Speaker 5: I kind of looked at it like that's him. That's doing his interrogation.
00:32:18
Speaker 4: He's using his leverage or the position that he's in to get all the information out before he makes his next, officially makes his next move. As I'm thinking about that, I don't know if that's something that you can agree with or do you think he was just asking questions out of him being hurt and just trying to understand why she would do all this? Or was this just more of like, I need to understand the full story before I even do what I'm about to do? Nah, I definitely feel like he was, because even in that moment, He was definitely talking about what he already had pieced together as far as, like, knowing that the Guardians made the Manhunter. Also giving us the reason why he didn't take the ring, which makes sense. It's like, well, shit, like, if y'all wanted to replace him and y'all didn't even tell him, why? Like, so it was showing us that he was able to also do something. That's why I don't kind of agree with, like, him. Of course, he's not as experienced as Hal, but it's also showing that he can't do the job, that he's actually, like, critically thinking about everything that's going on um outside of the one thing that you've been saying that you have an issue with that he actually thinks through the things that he's doing he's not just a soldier you know what i'm saying obviously comes full circle at the end of the episode but it just shows it's giving you nuggets of him thinking through the decisions even though when he's told to do things he's like all right why are you telling me to do this again like does it really make complete sense in the grand scheme of everything else that's going on so nah i think he was definitely doing an investigative piece of it. He did an investigative piece of it. He was just looking for the confirmation. He already had his suspicion. He was looking for a way to make sure it was all aligned before he made his next step.
00:33:56
Speaker 6: So his next step was going.
00:33:58
Speaker 2: To still rely on it.
00:33:59
Speaker 4: He was strapped to the bed and you burnt up and she said, I can hear you.
00:34:03
Speaker 6: At that point, you got to be like, all right, what up?
00:34:04
Speaker 2: Yeah, we taking that deal.
00:34:06
Speaker 6: You got to.
00:34:07
Speaker 2: You got to.
00:34:08
Speaker 4: Hey, Louis, like what your girl say, like, look, all right, I'll give you some head if you go just.
00:34:13
Speaker 2: Take me to the store real quick and do this grocery run. You be like, all right. The whole time you don't want to be there, but you know what you got to get at the end. And she had you out there.
00:34:23
Speaker 3: And she knew everything after, all right, I'll give you some here.
00:34:26
Speaker 2: She got you.
00:34:28
Speaker 4: Me in the store just be like, yeah, you put that in the cart. Like, all right, I'll eat that this week. Yeah, that's cool. I do need to add fruit to my diet.
00:34:39
Speaker 2: He started giving me some reason. You see what he said, kid?
00:34:41
Speaker 4: He was like, hey, if you make me white, I'm going to kill you.
00:34:44
Speaker 6: I was just about to say that.
00:34:45
Speaker 2: I was like, bro, you always don't make me no white, man. That was funny.
00:34:48
Speaker 4: Yeah. Speaking of someone else making moves, we later see Hal go to the diner that he told John to tell them other aliens to meet him at, who are also hunting Zoe. And they have a conversation. Now, Ken, I did like this scene. I'm giving it to Kyle Chandler, Luke. for how he's playing his role. But Ken, Hal is the nigga that like, bro, he, he know when.
00:35:15
Speaker 2: Shit fucked up, bro.
00:35:16
Speaker 4: The bubble came around before these niggas, you know, popped out like, that's some superhero shit. But like, but was his plan smart or dumb when it comes to like trying to set up these aliens? Like he was trying to do that little switcheroo where like, I want the aliens to go after Will while I go after Zoe. Was it smart or dumb because of, and I'm saying dumb because of the risk factor.
00:35:42
Speaker 1: I'm not sure because I think at this point we also know what Zoe's plan was and how she was going to plan to kill Hal.
00:35:52
Speaker 2: He didn't know that, though, when she.
00:35:54
Speaker 1: Was like, yeah, we're just going to make him use up the ring and then that was it. He wasn't aware of that. So for me watching it, knowing that, also I'm like, man, this is stupid because you stay out of the running. Zoe was going to do what she's going to do. Um, but it seemed like, uh, a smart plan to send the enemies after one of each other, basically almost create a distraction. And, um, and then I'm gonna just take advantage of the confusion at the end of the day, but I need to get them over here while I'm handling this business over there. So they don't just get in my way. So, um, it, it, it kind of made sense why he would think that would work.
00:36:33
Speaker 2: Hey, Jay.
00:36:37
Speaker 4: A huge AO conversation came at this diner.
00:36:48
Speaker 2: This goes again.
00:36:49
Speaker 4: I question the intelligence of the aliens in this show.
00:36:53
Speaker 2: Because they clearly can't tell what a white man lying. He was like, oh, I thought you were straight.
00:37:00
Speaker 6: He was like, nah, bro, I just see opportunity.
00:37:02
Speaker 3: He said orientation don't matter when opportunity is there.
00:37:10
Speaker 2: A slick white man lying.
00:37:11
Speaker 5: That was a.
00:37:14
Speaker 2: Slick white man lying.
00:37:15
Speaker 4: That's something that you.
00:37:19
Speaker 6: He gave a good reason. When you done seen aliens, you don't know how cool that shit become, bro. Like, you hate.
00:37:24
Speaker 3: You don't know how cool that shit become.
00:37:28
Speaker 2: You don't know what's out there.
00:37:29
Speaker 4: After that, you made me open to everything, boy.
00:37:31
Speaker 2: I'm only saying this, though, Jay.
00:37:35
Speaker 4: Just because you see extra holes in them don't mean you see something in yourself.
00:37:42
Speaker 6: Sex work awaits.
00:37:43
Speaker 2: Sex work awaits.
00:37:45
Speaker 6: It might be like ayahuasca, bro. It might open you up.
00:37:49
Speaker 2: You ain't never there.
00:37:50
Speaker 6: You ain't never know before, nigga. You never know.
00:37:58
Speaker 4: I'm all about work hours, Jay. I'm only open from 9 to 5. I ain't open 24-7. You ain't about to catch me in any kind of way.
00:38:07
Speaker 2: Go ahead. I thought this scene was dope, though. I thought this scene was good.
00:38:16
Speaker 3: They spoke to his investigative proudness this whole episode. And just the difference between him and his strengths and John's strengths. And just him coming up with that plan and even thinking on his feet when Buddy was like, well, how'd that work? And him still being able to navigate through that. One speaks to Kyle Chandler and two just speaks to this character. But it was a really good scene, too.
00:38:42
Speaker 1: And what was really interesting, though, and you're talking about a white man and his ego, was when Nathan was like, well, typically what the Manhunter does, which is a nice play on words, especially taking a female, is that they tend to take the most dominant male out of the group and break them. And they pick John over Hal. Because he had to lie.
00:39:08
Speaker 2: Remember, he lied, too. about that because he realized that.
00:39:12
Speaker 1: He wasn't the choice and that he wasn't looked at as the dominant one of the two, which also feeds into how he feels about the Guardians wanting to replace him as well.
00:39:24
Speaker 2: So it's like a double whammy for him.
00:39:26
Speaker 4: Yep.
00:39:28
Speaker 2: He told that other one.
00:39:29
Speaker 1: He was like.
00:39:29
Speaker 2: he was like, oh, man, where, where? He said, who drew that? He was like, oh, yeah, the intern. He was like, where, yeah, he said he in the car.
00:39:37
Speaker 6: I'm like, God damn, bro.
00:39:41
Speaker 2: Hey, brother, the way, hey, the way they.
00:39:43
Speaker 4: Dismiss John in this episode is nuts. They treat John literally like a black man in Nebraska. well we then go back to the hospital with john and zoe and she explained why she chose to take the form that she now has as we talked about a little bit earlier um and she's healing him with some advanced technology that she brought over from her uh escape from oa wherever she was at uh lou this speech was that zoe gave for me it basically was saying that We need to pull ourselves up by our bootstraps as minorities. And the struggles that we go to are not meant to be seen as obstacles, but as things to conquer.
00:40:28
Speaker 6: To make us better.
00:40:29
Speaker 4: Again, this is the nail in the coffin for me. Zoe is a piece of shit, but she said this.
00:40:35
Speaker 2: Well, why are you like... Because, bro, she.
00:40:38
Speaker 4: Was basically making excuses for the treatment of minorities and saying, like, oh, no, you should embrace this as something that's making you better.
00:40:46
Speaker 5: Like, only the strong come from the weak type shit.
00:40:49
Speaker 4: I'm like, what the fuck? Nick, Nick, Nick, you forgot you had some right-wing looters, you know. He about to tell you.
00:40:55
Speaker 6: He about to tell you straight up.
00:40:57
Speaker 2: She said a damn thing wrong. Y'all better get it together. Y'all better. Shit.
00:41:01
Speaker 6: I got to get out of here and get it. Y'all got to get out of here and get it.
00:41:05
Speaker 4: Shit.
00:41:05
Speaker 2: Okay. I found myself nodding in agreeance with a lot.
00:41:08
Speaker 6: Of what you're going to say.
00:41:10
Speaker 2: You're going to be on this wall on a poster. Rewind it a little bit, kid. In this tonight, he gave a vote.
00:41:19
Speaker 4: No, I'm not interested in that they did throw this in here, though.
00:41:26
Speaker 2: But no, I didn't like her saying it. Her character, like.
00:41:30
Speaker 3: If it was John's mom or dad and this conversation was happening somewhere else, then yeah. But the show has given itself the runway to be able to say and do this, I feel like, with the episode that we had about John's past.
00:41:44
Speaker 2: So I wasn't that mad at him.
00:41:49
Speaker 6: I felt some way about it.
00:41:52
Speaker 4: There was a piece, there was a, I hated it, but that piece about like, it is like, it's not, it's not the barrier.
00:42:00
Speaker 6: It's like, uh, I forgot what she said. Like I get it.
00:42:05
Speaker 4: Like, and my blackness, there's a piece of me that just feels like, yeah, man, like being black because I have to constantly fight like against everything because of my blackness. Like, yeah, I do have a tougher skin compared to that white boy that's coming out of the suburbs. So, you know what I'm saying? That ain't, that has everything given to him. Like I, there's a resilience to me that he will never really understand.
00:42:25
Speaker 2: But nah, all that other shit.
00:42:26
Speaker 4: I'm like, Fuck all that. Like, no, I don't agree with none of that shit. So, yeah, and I didn't really like it coming from her either. But I'm not supposed to like her in this moment anyway. Like, she's proven that she's evil. So, I think it kind of made sense for her to be the one delivering that message. Yeah, and I'll say the line that I do agree with her is when she was saying, I think she said something along the lines of, If you want to view the honest version of a society, start from its disenfranchised. Start from the outside because then you'll get to see it on every level.
00:43:06
Speaker 6: And how it works.
00:43:07
Speaker 2: I do appreciate that.
00:43:08
Speaker 4: I think that's what she was trying to add on to or start her speech or monologue about. That's why I chose a minority because they're the disenfranchised. They're the ones that's going to be able to see everything and also be able to hide in plain sight. So, again, I understood some of that, but it was just like before an alien to end.
00:43:27
Speaker 5: Their perspective on that note, it was like, all right, what are we doing here?
00:43:32
Speaker 2: It told the line.
00:43:38
Speaker 1: Between both parties, meaning that there are lines that as black people we can pull out. of that and be like, oh yeah, I kind of identify with, with that. Like what Jalen was talking about, what you were talking about at the same time, though, it's also for the other side that always talking about stop using your position, uh, that you were grown into stop using that as an excuse, use that as a way to build yourself up to overcome these obstacles, because it'll make you better and make you more resilient. than than the other group so you know i it was weird because i'm like because i'm thinking about like the the you pick you.
00:44:26
Speaker 2: Pick the woman and you double down.
00:44:29
Speaker 1: On you pick the woman and then you put the person of color um and these are the reason is why and i'm thinking about also like is this for like the white folks that were mad too mad at the the outcast episodes And this is just like, let me give you guys a little bit of something back.
00:44:48
Speaker 2: Or what?
00:44:49
Speaker 1: So that's why it's a very cleverly written sort of monologue that she had.
00:44:58
Speaker 2: You know? That's what I was getting to. But it is how it fucked up. Yeah, I think you're right. Because that's what I was thinking about as well.
00:45:04
Speaker 4: Because I was like, we had a Super Pro Black episode just two weeks ago.
00:45:10
Speaker 6: And then now we have.
00:45:13
Speaker 4: And it's interesting they made the villain say this, to your point, Jay, to say what she said. But also she's saying this as how we as humans, the niggas that's actually watching the show, objectively looking at this person as a, like you said, South Asian woman.
00:45:30
Speaker 2: She's a person of color. She's brown.
00:45:32
Speaker 6: So it's just like.
00:45:34
Speaker 4: There's a it's a brilliant way, a brilliant message. It's like, you know, it's like niggas when they say, I don't like living around niggas.
00:45:41
Speaker 6: Like, of course, you're going to.
00:45:42
Speaker 2: Get a mask audience that agrees with you.
00:45:44
Speaker 4: And no one's going to really push back too much because you are of that community, quote unquote.
00:45:49
Speaker 5: I just found it just very interesting that.
00:45:52
Speaker 4: Um this is the woman john fell for we've been excusing a lot of people these days uh-uh and like john came from the bottom either i know he's about to say it but he ain't like he really came from the bottom he came from a pro-black household though bro oh okay okay that's what i'm saying He.
00:46:17
Speaker 2: Probably could agree with her way of thinking, though. Being the household he was brought up. The household he was raised in?
00:46:22
Speaker 6: You could be pro-black and still conservative, bro. Like, those two things can't exist.
00:46:26
Speaker 2: Mostly, that's the case. Yeah, it is.
00:46:39
Speaker 4: You can probably agree with it, especially with the military background. I know everyone in the military isn't big pro-America, but the probability of that being a thing is probably high. With his dad being in the military, him joining the military, it's probably still a piece of good old American values. Yeah, I believe he probably he probably could agree with.
00:47:04
Speaker 6: That on some some of that.
00:47:11
Speaker 4: We then head back to the making compound and see that Zoe has the whole town pussy whipped. um as she instructs will to pretend to be the manhood so he could take the fall what were your thoughts on this scene when i can't the blackest white man name i ever heard on hbo anton anton confronting will and will over here trying to act he trying to pretend as hard as he can but he don't last about 30 seconds what do you think about that.
00:47:39
Speaker 6: Conversation That's what I.
00:47:43
Speaker 4: Was just saying because I was like, I had no out.
00:47:47
Speaker 2: I had no out. I had no out. Okay, let's move on.
00:47:52
Speaker 4: What did you think about that conversation?
00:47:58
Speaker 3: It was interesting because Anton knew, I guess you had to play it out, but from the moment that Hal told him and Diana, he felt like they was lying to him.
00:48:10
Speaker 2: But he still had to go check it out.
00:48:11
Speaker 3: Then when he get in the office and he said, buddy, he's like, I know you.
00:48:15
Speaker 6: I know.
00:48:16
Speaker 2: I know this a lot. You ain't. I know you ain't. They was saying, nah, no. He wasn't going for that at all.
00:48:25
Speaker 4: Hey the the scene that i would i really want you to comment on is when he was the questions he was asking to see.
00:48:34
Speaker 3: He had to do he did a full factor authentication it was like nah it's still like what's my mama middle name on my daddy's side my teammate name like he made sure and he knew that it wasn't it but um Dude fooled me for a split second when he started speaking in the other language.
00:48:53
Speaker 2: I was like, wait, did they fool me? Is he the man hunter? Like, did they fool me?
00:48:59
Speaker 3: But I guess they practiced that shit for a long time. But I like this scene, though, when he put the infrared dots on him and he told him, nigga, if it was really you, you would have been done killed me. You wouldn't even chance this shit. But I liked how this whole thing played out. AJ, we found out that he was sterile.
00:49:17
Speaker 6: And that he.
00:49:18
Speaker 2: And that he... he was pussy whipped too on his own planet. He probably the reason why his planet got fucked up.
00:49:25
Speaker 4: So he got this his own chain. He cost his planet everything.
00:49:32
Speaker 2: Over some Gucci. He was sick.
00:49:38
Speaker 6: But I think this too I think now.
00:49:44
Speaker 4: I'm curious though to if this is supposed to also connect with what happened in the last episode what will make him walking around naked.
00:49:55
Speaker 6: As far as trying to convince Hal.
00:49:57
Speaker 4: That he was the main hunter you know what I'm saying like as far as like being naked you know what I'm saying and trying to like seduce him in a way and saying like this is as a man hunter this is what I'm trying to do I'm still trying to connect that a little bit. I'm wondering if that's what it was. Because, again, it just happened. It was one of those things that happened, but it never really completely tied together.
00:50:18
Speaker 6: And I'm wondering if that's what it is, or I'm just missing it.
00:50:21
Speaker 2: Oh, I see what you're saying.
00:50:23
Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm wondering if that was the point.
00:50:25
Speaker 3: The awkward-ass drawing scene was to— he' s acting like he the manhunt, and he thinking that he's seducing John by getting him to draw that picture.
00:50:34
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:50:35
Speaker 4: The beat to make sure to draw him away from Zoe you know what I'm saying yeah I get what you're saying so cause he know he know at the end of the day his mission was to die for her like he he said it on the phone like you gave me more time like I'm gonna die for you you know.
00:50:49
Speaker 2: What I'm saying so that's a great that's a that's a that's a Mr.
00:50:55
Speaker 4: Fantastic reach but you got something there cause it does make sense cause like cause Anton knows that John can draw so like by him having that there yeah Damn, that must mean, bro, Zoe is a fucking, she an evil villain, Ken. That motherfucker was three steps ahead of everybody.
00:51:13
Speaker 1: Yeah, taught him the language and everything. He was fluent in that shit, too.
00:51:17
Speaker 2: I never seen no white man talk like that, man.
00:51:20
Speaker 4: And she was a pimp on the phone, Ken. She was like, tell me you love me, too. I was like, I'm going to kill myself. I'm going to kill myself.
00:51:31
Speaker 3: Tell me again what you're doing for me. I said yes already. What are we talking about?
00:51:38
Speaker 2: If he knew that motherfucker was going to carve, he going to do it. Like, we ain't got to ask all these questions.
00:51:42
Speaker 1: But if he knew that motherfucker was going to carve his heart out, he probably would have thought twice.
00:51:46
Speaker 2: Hey, he died crazy, bruh. Man, hell yeah.
00:51:50
Speaker 1: Hey.
00:51:52
Speaker 2: Shit. He did.
00:51:54
Speaker 6: Anton was taking his anger out on him.
00:51:56
Speaker 2: He ain't deserve that.
00:51:59
Speaker 6: And the nigga just, he beat cancer. Yeah, that's how you go out.
00:52:02
Speaker 2: You might as well give.
00:52:02
Speaker 4: Me the cancer. Got your, man. But this leads us to our, again, like, it was an action-packed episode. What were y'all reactions to the action scenes that took place in the downtown area? Because Ken Howe fucked up. His plan worked damn near too well. And Zoey out here just destroying everything.
00:52:30
Speaker 1: Yeah. No, all this was pretty good. Like the suicide, whatever they were just blowing themselves up. The other troops with the smoke, him putting on the glasses, having to fight through that stuff.
00:52:44
Speaker 2: That was dope. Using all this is the power of his.
00:52:47
Speaker 1: Ring while she just destroying the city, handcuffing her, her cutting her arm off.
00:52:54
Speaker 2: All that shit was was dope.
00:52:56
Speaker 1: You know, seeing all that happen and just seeing Hal get busy and, you know, how sharp and quick he is, you know, on the battlefield. So, yeah, this was dope. Even to the point where he saw a dude walking up.
00:53:12
Speaker 2: He was like, shit. Because he already knew what was about to happen when old boy started walking towards him pissed off. So, yeah. So, no, this was good. This was good leading up to that final fight. What was your thoughts, Jayne?
00:53:27
Speaker 6: I mean, all the action was like A1, bro, from them niggas blowing up.
00:53:35
Speaker 4: I will say, them niggas are terrible shots when that nigga was running in that field towards their shed.
00:53:40
Speaker 6: I was like, bro, y'all still shooting at this nigga? He ain't getting this nigga yet.
00:53:42
Speaker 5: He running in a straight line.
00:53:43
Speaker 6: I'm like, what the fuck?
00:53:45
Speaker 4: This is sci-fi slash superhero one-on-one.
00:53:48
Speaker 2: Bad guys can't shoot. I know, man, but at least.
00:53:52
Speaker 4: My thing is, if you're going to just make it realistic to an extent, just make them stop shooting. Make it seem like they ran out of bullets. Or make this nigga zigzag or some shit. He had this nigga running in a straight line and the bullets flying right beside him.
00:54:05
Speaker 2: This was bad. That was bad, bro.
00:54:07
Speaker 6: It was like, nah, man. That was terrible.
00:54:11
Speaker 4: Did y'all find it too goofy or did they actually pull it off when the water tower fell and released all that black smoke?
00:54:20
Speaker 2: This shit was fire. We get the viewpoint of how it is.
00:54:24
Speaker 6: That was dope.
00:54:26
Speaker 4: I thought that was really creative. For her to know too, to put it in there and be like, to know that I'm going to need this whenever this... I got to be in this location for when this nigga shows up because I'm going to need to out and to have the chopper there and everything she knew all right, I'm going to have to have something because this nigga is going to be damn near impossible to stop with just these niggas and guns.
00:54:51
Speaker 2: And I liked it. I liked how all the action played out, how he had... See, I liked how.
00:54:56
Speaker 3: They showed how thought processes play out. And even in the chess game, like you said, that he was playing, he knew that he had a lot of dude to tell him the dude was the man, Hunter. But he didn't know how far... He didn't know how... He didn't know when it would come back to bite him in his ass.
00:55:15
Speaker 2: He just knew it would. He just say, I ain't playing that far yet. I just got to figure this one loud first.
00:55:19
Speaker 3: So I like when he reacted to do find him like shit like that coming back to bite him in his ass because he knew eventually it would. But just overall, the action scene in a town, the towel falling and fighting with the goggles. All of this shit was a one in the sense of this feeling like a season finale episode.
00:55:38
Speaker 2: It was him for you to camp. Mm-hmm.
00:55:42
Speaker 4: Yep.
00:55:42
Speaker 1: I enjoyed it. But yeah, I already answered the question.
00:55:49
Speaker 4: After getting his new skin from Zoe, we see John break out of the hospital to finally get his ring. Ken, what were your thoughts on John's conversation with his parents as he was trying to find how to get the ring?
00:56:03
Speaker 2: Hmm.
00:56:08
Speaker 1: It was frustrating for me because They were more concerned about whether he got the ring instead of really trying to understand what was happening right now that was of urgency. Like, I need to talk to this person. You've got to get on the phone, get it here. And you're like, did you get the ring?
00:56:32
Speaker 2: Did you get the ring? Did you get the ring?
00:56:34
Speaker 1: It's like, oh, like, you know, I don't have time to deal with that. And it's almost like... It's like those.
00:56:41
Speaker 2: You know, when you're a parent, you want your child's goals. You live.
00:56:47
Speaker 1: There are parents that live through them. And the father and the mother were living through John. And everything that they've done, it makes sense if he gets this ring.
00:57:01
Speaker 2: Which.
00:57:02
Speaker 1: We don't know how they're going to react when they find out what happened, but.
00:57:08
Speaker 2: Nevertheless... That's their sole purpose.
00:57:11
Speaker 1: That's why they did all this, why they sacrificed them, why they put their child through life or death situations is to get the ring. And that's what they want to know because it's like right there in his grasp. And he's like, no, this is what happened. And I'm really pissed off. And now I'm going to go beat the shit out of him. And which him leaving the gun kind of made sense to Nick because he came back to get that motherfucker, too.
00:57:38
Speaker 6: He did.
00:57:39
Speaker 5: He said, look, it's how you take down the white man.
00:57:47
Speaker 2: Oh, Jay.
00:57:50
Speaker 4: Do you think this is. I don't know if you can find this corny or not. Do you think this is like their way of saying he's breaking the generational curse?
00:58:02
Speaker 2: Like, this was the start of it. Because, like, what Ken's.
00:58:06
Speaker 4: Saying as far as, like, obviously this was way before, like, his daddy couldn't get it.
00:58:11
Speaker 5: So that's why they're focused on it. The ring is not about him. It's about them.
00:58:15
Speaker 4: And it's like, John is like, I'm not going to allow this trauma and this stuff continue to control my life. So this is the phone conversation that starts the beginning of what we see at the end. Do you think this is what their message was based on how he was dealing with his parents?
00:58:32
Speaker 6: If it is, it ain't here for me. I don't feel that way. And even you saying it, they don't really feel that way for me. It just felt like.
00:58:42
Speaker 4: It was a way to give us insight on his mindset in that moment. And as far as giving us an understanding of some of the decisions he had made earlier that didn't really align with his character. That's what I thought that was more so for. Because it seemed like over the last episode, John has been the one getting fucked up. Like over the last hour of the show we've been watching, it's like John has been making decisions that don't align.
00:59:09
Speaker 2: With the character.
00:59:10
Speaker 6: They told us in episode three.
00:59:12
Speaker 4: So it was like telling us like, yeah, he's pissed and he did different things and he was explaining it to his parents as a way of like just us understanding what was going on. So I don't think it was about the generation of curse's thing. I think they were more so wanting to know because they knew he was supposed to have the ring already. Because I think the Guardian already told him, like, yeah, I told him, just take the ring. And they were like, nigga, do you have it? Like, this is what we've been working for, nigga. We want to know, do you have it? And he not answer the question. Nigga, we don't give a fuck. We want to know what the do you have he was.
00:59:46
Speaker 2: Supposed to do.
00:59:48
Speaker 4: So, yeah, I don't think the generational curse thing was the part, but if it was, it ain't it for me.
00:59:56
Speaker 2: Lou, what was your thoughts? I didn't pick up on the generational curse thing either. I picked up more so... Wait, why'd you say generational curse? Let me make sure I'm... The....
01:00:15
Speaker 4: You know, the sins of the father type shit, bro. Where it's like, because his father... Like, even in that episode where we get the background of John, you see the relationship between the mother and the father changed. Like he was, you could tell he was the leader of the household until that situation. And after that situation broke him, she had to lead the household. She had to come up with the plan. And it was an interesting switch because it happened based off of this ring. You know what I'm saying? Based off this opportunity. And now both of the parents viewed, I guess, a missed opportunity. And they're trying to basically, again, recreate that. but using their son as the catalyst. It's not even his dream. He didn't know what he... Well, we know what he wanted. He wanted to go to art school. He wanted to draw and all that stuff. But they were like, nah, nigga, you got to do this because we fucked up. So now you got to pay for it. You know what I'm saying? And now, remember, we'll get to the end. Yeah, we'll get to the end about why I say this is how it ties into both.
01:01:18
Speaker 2: I didn't think of that. Like Jalen was saying, I didn't think of that when I said that. I thought.
01:01:22
Speaker 3: that more so as a viewer, like, okay, where are they going with this now? Because you have to do who is supposed to get the ring saying, I ain't really sure if I want it. And then adding a parent factor into it, like what you're saying, Nick, they really have been pushing him.
01:01:38
Speaker 2: Towards this his whole life. He ain't really never had a choice.
01:01:42
Speaker 3: So now we in this episode or we at the end of this storyline with him and it's like, okay, is he saying he got a choice now and he might not take it? He don't want to, have the ring, or is he saying that he's going to try to understand why he want to do it and not be like Hal is? So I thought this was a multi-layered response and conversation.
01:02:03
Speaker 2: It gave just the right.
01:02:07
Speaker 3: Level of interest for the rest of the season for me to wonder where this character is going.
01:02:14
Speaker 5: Jay, what were your thoughts on the fight scene between Hal and John?
01:02:20
Speaker 2: Oh, this is perfect. This was perfect.
01:02:23
Speaker 6: And it.
01:02:25
Speaker 4: Felt realistic in a way of like, Hal's older, so there's no way he should win this fight.
01:02:31
Speaker 6: You know what I'm saying?
01:02:33
Speaker 4: But we know as Green Lanterns fans, the reason you become a Green Lantern is by your willpower.
01:02:38
Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
01:02:39
Speaker 6: So even though he was getting his ass whooped, you could tell he was still fighting with whatever he had. You know what I'm saying?
01:02:45
Speaker 4: So in the beginning of it, I was nervous in the beginning of the fight because I felt like, I know y'all not about to.
01:02:51
Speaker 2: Make this an even fight.
01:02:52
Speaker 6: I know y'all not about to.
01:02:54
Speaker 4: I was like, when Ha got punched the first time and he came back, I know y'all not about to make this a real fight.
01:02:59
Speaker 6: I know not. But as it progressed, you're like, oh, yeah, John is beating this nigga's ass.
01:03:03
Speaker 1: Go ahead.
01:03:04
Speaker 2: Go ahead.
01:03:06
Speaker 4: Go ahead.
01:03:12
Speaker 6: He kept getting up. He just kept getting up. I was like, nigga, stay down.
01:03:18
Speaker 2: Just stay down. Hey, kid.
01:03:22
Speaker 5: He was fucking him up like a monkey on a cupcake.
01:03:25
Speaker 4: He threw him. You know how you just throw somebody off you real quick? That nigga threw him across the room.
01:03:35
Speaker 1: Yeah.
01:03:37
Speaker 4: The nigga, hey, bruh, you ever get kicked in your, have you ever been kicked in your chest before?
01:03:41
Speaker 2: I have.
01:03:42
Speaker 4: I had my chest kicked in one time. Imagine getting your chest kicked in and you going through a door. Like, that nigga was done. That nigga was done. I felt bad for him.
01:03:54
Speaker 2: Yeah, he was working. He was working.
01:03:58
Speaker 6: I was sad for him. Let's see.
01:04:00
Speaker 3: But I'm glad they made it to Jalen's point. I'm glad they made it like that. That was realistic. Like, this big buff military-ass nigga, like, he worked his old white man.
01:04:09
Speaker 5: Have you seen that movie with Damien Williams called The Great White Hype?
01:04:12
Speaker 2: Yeah, when he played the boxer.
01:04:13
Speaker 4: Remember, they build up the whole movie to this match. Did he get his ass kicked? Like, that's what I felt like. I was like, bro, he ain't have to hit him like that. John could have just took the ring. Yeah, that's the reason why he burnt up. He had to whip his ass. That shit was personal. four episodes bro.
01:04:39
Speaker 3: All the snide comments all the wrecking the cars.
01:04:43
Speaker 4: All the niggas junior all that bullshit you right you the reason this whole burn me up not even that Jay I can forgive him for the burn it's the rental you fucked up a rental nigga you know how much I gotta pay for that are you kidding me With them two riddles.
01:05:09
Speaker 6: Nah, yeah.
01:05:09
Speaker 2: He got to go. Yeah, never mind.
01:05:10
Speaker 4: I changed my mind on that. But now, Lou, do you think after he got his ass beat, we see that John had a play.
01:05:25
Speaker 2: He had a... What they say, he cut with a.
01:05:27
Speaker 6: What's it?
01:05:28
Speaker 2: A spade. He had a spade in the tuck. He had a spade in the tuck. He had a spade in the tuck.
01:05:35
Speaker 4: I liked how he took out Zoey, boy. Zoey, goofy ass, looking in the sunshine. He waited too long. He should have hit that motherfucker as soon as she turned around. Because I thought she was going to zigzag for a second. I thought she was going to do some power shooting.
01:05:47
Speaker 2: I was like, oh, man.
01:05:48
Speaker 3: She waited too late. But I like the setup for this. I like him leading into it. And she was like, well, why are you here? Then her turning around, realizing at the last minute, them shooting the shot. I don't get where we go from here, though. To be honest, that was the biggest thing for me from this scene. All of this shit was dope. But then when he shoots her, she get a little half smile. And I'm like, well, damn.
01:06:10
Speaker 2: Why am I tuning in for the rest of the series now?
01:06:12
Speaker 3: Like, I don't even know what to expect or what's about to happen. It's like you said, we're about to start a season two, it seems like. But I'm here for it. But it was definitely a finale-ass episode.
01:06:27
Speaker 6: I think I would have probably been there too, Lou, if I had watched Lioness before this.
01:06:34
Speaker 2: And watched it after. I watched it after, so I know what you mean.
01:06:38
Speaker 4: So, like, knowing that, oh, there's another piece of the story that's still happening that we just haven't gone back to.
01:06:44
Speaker 2: That's a really good example. Yeah, that's a really good example.
01:06:49
Speaker 4: In my mind, I was like, oh, so when I thought, I was like, oh, damn, if they took her off the board, then what are we going to do? I was like, oh, yeah, Hal did. Like, we forgot. So much other shit has happened since then.
01:07:00
Speaker 6: It's like, oh, Hal is dead. Because, and so that's why.
01:07:05
Speaker 4: I was kind of lost in that, too, because I was also like, so how the fuck, how, because I was going back to, how did Hal get the ring back?
01:07:13
Speaker 6: Because I knew John had the ring.
01:07:14
Speaker 4: So, all of, it just, my mind was still working on all those things. I had the benefit of lying to go there, but when he shot it, bro, like, Nick, man, the more I be thinking about it and talking to you, all this makes sense.
01:07:29
Speaker 2: Don't do that. Don't do that.
01:07:30
Speaker 6: He took his.
01:07:32
Speaker 2: Time doing the shot.
01:07:33
Speaker 6: He was like, I see you. This nigga's a soldier.
01:07:36
Speaker 2: He knew that he needed the shooter.
01:07:39
Speaker 6: He felt something like, oh, damn.
01:07:41
Speaker 4: Ken, did you not roll your eyes when you seen him wipe away that goddamn tear?
01:07:47
Speaker 2: He wiped away a tear? Yeah, he wiped away a tear. Damn. Oh, yeah, you're right. You're right. Uh... No, I think the chair ruined it for me.
01:07:56
Speaker 6: That's what I'm saying.
01:07:58
Speaker 2: At this point, I'm like, bro, you fell in love with her that fast? Like, you only been there with a week.
01:08:04
Speaker 6: Hey, she got that intergalactic, bruh.
01:08:06
Speaker 4: That's what Hal tried to tell you, dick.
01:08:11
Speaker 6: Anti-flu three galaxies.
01:08:14
Speaker 2: He's talking about outer space pussy. Nigga, what are you talking about?
01:08:18
Speaker 6: Like, you don't even know what that's like.
01:08:19
Speaker 2: None of us never had that. We don't know what that's like, bruh.
01:08:24
Speaker 6: Hey, Spike, we use that as a metaphor when it's great on Earth. Imagine what it's really like.
01:08:31
Speaker 4: If you're bringing this to the case, if you're bringing this as the lead evidence for everything that's going on between them two.
01:08:39
Speaker 2: That may be the only reason that I accept it.
01:08:42
Speaker 4: Because based off the evidence, kid, bro, it ain't got to be that.
01:08:48
Speaker 2: Otherwise, it don't make sense at all.
01:08:51
Speaker 1: But it was, but yeah, I really like this scene because when he picked up the gun, he walked off, he got the ring. And I was like, I was like, so everything that she laid out, her plan worked to a T. Al's there, he's ready to die. I said, but John's not that kind of guy.
01:09:09
Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, yeah, no. Yeah, John.
01:09:12
Speaker 1: I said, John's not that kind of guy. He's nowhere he's going to let Hal die. There is another play. And that's why I love how Hal, even with all this shit on top of him, still finds a way to crack the case.
01:09:29
Speaker 2: And she was like, oh, why were you like, shit, bait. That's what you are.
01:09:34
Speaker 6: You bait.
01:09:35
Speaker 2: And she was like, god damn it. You know I shouldn't have trusted that nigga. That's what she said. That's what she said. Fucking niggas. Her last thought was, niggas. That's what she said.
01:09:50
Speaker 3: Fucking niggas.
01:09:51
Speaker 2: I get the hype now. I get why they hit the bottom.
01:09:55
Speaker 6: They all came together now. I get why Earthlings do y'all like this.
01:09:58
Speaker 2: I get it.
01:10:08
Speaker 4: Niggas boy this show should be called niggas this show really is a nigga this is niggas in space this is what niggas do when they in space they get into this type of shit um Do y'all think, though, real quick, before we move on to the end of this episode, do y'all think that John really listened to Al when he was like, hey, bruh? Because John took that ring off like he was getting divorced.
01:10:45
Speaker 2: Like... Like, she was like... Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Give me back my goddamn ring.
01:11:00
Speaker 4: It's like taking something out of an old man's hand.
01:11:05
Speaker 6: He's fighting.
01:11:05
Speaker 2: He don't dare when he's going to win. He's just fighting.
01:11:07
Speaker 6: It's a fight, man.
01:11:10
Speaker 2: You ever had your granddaddy try to steal your ape?
01:11:13
Speaker 4: You don't know how to smoke. Hal did drop his last gems with him because he did say the lesson's over now.
01:11:26
Speaker 2: He was like, if they replace me, they can replace you. Mm-hmm. Yep.
01:11:33
Speaker 1: There's something there. And I think John has an uneasiness with them now because of how they move. And he's kind of violating what he kind of said he was or we've seen him to be was, I just follow orders. Now there's a little bit of how... mixed in there as well because he defied the orders and Hal is trying to tell him it's like you can't believe everything that they tell you because they're liars they'll manipulate you so it seems like he's starting to kind of pick up some of the things that Hal has been trying to school him on.
01:12:19
Speaker 4: And to your point Ken he doing what Hal did to Sinestro Like, if you want to think about it, like, bro, he, like, it's funny. I think he was, he was smiling then because he was like, look, look at how I ended up, you know, student become the teacher and all that goofy ass shit. But like, look at the situation he got himself in. He went too far. He broke all the rules because John laid out all the rules he broke. He broke the oath. Shit, he broke my ribs. He broke a lot of things. He did the same shit that Sinestro was doing. And then Hal had to replace him. It's just, it's a, it's a, Interesting story they try to weave in this episode. Yeah. Yeah.
01:13:02
Speaker 1: Yeah.
01:13:02
Speaker 2: No, it is. It is.
01:13:05
Speaker 1: And, you know, it's going to be interesting to see what they do and what we have left, too.
01:13:11
Speaker 2: But yeah, I think you're right.
01:13:12
Speaker 1: There are some definitely some parallels there with Sinestro went rogue against the Guardians as well. And Hal did it in his own way. You know, he did it the white way. And, you know, John didn't, he didn't have to take him down because his job was to replace him. But Hal was also kind of going crazy because he was overly obsessed with the mission as well.
01:13:41
Speaker 2: Yeah.
01:13:44
Speaker 4: Getting to the end of this, we see John take the lantern, take the ring, set up a meeting with the guardian, Leanna, or whatever her name is, And they have a conversation. What did y'all think about how this episode ended? I'll start with you, Jay. I think it was a great way to end the episode. Especially with all the nuggets we got throughout the episode about John. Like, again, episode four just was like, it made me uneasy as far as like the motivations for John himself. So all the things that we got in this episode with him coming to grips with how the Manhunter.
01:14:23
Speaker 6: Was even created from the Guardians, understanding that.
01:14:27
Speaker 4: The way he handled the situation with the Manhunter, like killing her. When he got the lantern and got there and was breaking it down to her and just like, but like, y'all have been fucked up. Y'all are fucked up. Like y'all haven't even spoke to him that I was replacing him.
01:14:46
Speaker 6: And that little nugget of Hal saying, they did it to me, they'll do it to you.
01:14:50
Speaker 2: It matters.
01:14:51
Speaker 4: I mean, whether he believed it 100% in that moment, it was still something that was like, that reinforced everything else he was going through at that time as far as like, yeah, they didn't really, they didn't.
01:15:01
Speaker 6: Explain to me what the fuck they, why they doing this to him.
01:15:04
Speaker 4: Like, yeah, Hal is old, but in a way, Hal is still doing a good, like he, he was doing his job, but he had to break his vows in order to do his job.
01:15:13
Speaker 6: Like, it felt like this job corrupted him. All that shit, man.
01:15:18
Speaker 2: Yeah, this was the perfect way to end the episode.
01:15:22
Speaker 6: I really fucked with this for sure.
01:15:23
Speaker 2: You felt the same way, Lou? Yeah, great ending.
01:15:28
Speaker 3: Great dialogue at the end by John being like, I don't even really know my motivation for this, to be honest with you. He didn't know his motivation, and look where it led him to. It led him to being replaced by me without y'all even telling him on some backdoor type shit.
01:15:45
Speaker 2: So what does it mean for me?
01:15:47
Speaker 3: I don't know what any of this means. And I think this was the first episode where I was really like, damn, I wish I could just hit play on the next episode. Like, all the rest of them, I've been cool with, like, this is a good show. I can't wait till next Sunday. You know, I'm here for it. I want to tune in every week when it drop out. But when he had this conversation with me, I was like, damn, I really wish I could see what's next.
01:16:11
Speaker 6: What about you, Ken?
01:16:12
Speaker 5: How do you feel at the end of this?
01:16:14
Speaker 1: Um, It definitely seemed like he was not going to keep the ring. You know, it seemed fairly obvious. You know, most of us, pretty much all of us picked up on that. It's just, what would be.
01:16:32
Speaker 2: Your reasons why?
01:16:33
Speaker 1: And then I think even one of you guys reminded me earlier, a couple of episodes ago, that even when he came back to the town, he'd have the ring then.
01:16:41
Speaker 2: So at what point, when does he not take the ring? So now I think even Jada was talking about that.
01:16:46
Speaker 1: It's like, okay, well, what happens in between this time and the time that we're in episode one with?
01:16:53
Speaker 2: And what the fuck is John doing? What is he doing this whole time? Is he in art school?
01:16:58
Speaker 1: Is he painting or drawing or some shit? I hope he got some shoes.
01:17:04
Speaker 2: Man, bro, walking around with no shoes was crazy. There was a lot of shit on that ground.
01:17:08
Speaker 1: But I think the other thing, I'm like, well, who gets the ring back? You guys said Hal had the ring when they showed up, right?
01:17:19
Speaker 2: No.
01:17:20
Speaker 5: In the end of the first episode, that ring is gone.
01:17:23
Speaker 2: So nobody had the ring.
01:17:24
Speaker 1: I was wondering if the other Green Lantern, Hal, that we mentioned earlier, or we talked about earlier, I think, Nick, you had brought up.
01:17:35
Speaker 2: I forgot his last name. Kyle Reeves? No, no, no.
01:17:39
Speaker 6: He's my guy.
01:17:40
Speaker 2: Oh, Guy Gardner. My Guy Gardner. Guy Gardner was before. After Hal? Yeah, he's after Hal, based off the timeline they got. Damn, it could be. Yeah, so you're right.
01:17:49
Speaker 1: Instead of the Cal guy, then it could be Guy Gardner.
01:17:53
Speaker 2: But he keeps it for a while, so how would... I don't know. I don't know, but somebody has to get that ring.
01:17:59
Speaker 1: She got to give it to somebody, because she can't go back to Hal and say, hey, man, by the way, you know, he declined the promotion.
01:18:05
Speaker 4: Yeah, you got to find somebody.
01:18:07
Speaker 2: I don't know what's going to happen. They got to find somebody to get that ring.
01:18:10
Speaker 1: To, unless it goes back to him.
01:18:13
Speaker 2: No, it'll go to whoever says the oath at this point.
01:18:20
Speaker 1: Yeah, but the ring finds its next owner when the person dies.
01:18:25
Speaker 2: Yeah, but if he's still alive, he just gets fired.
01:18:30
Speaker 1: So, yeah, I guess the other question is, I guess what I'm asking is now that the Guardian has the ring, what is she going to do with it? Because it's been taken from Hal. He didn't say the oath anymore. John never said the oath, so it doesn't have an owner now. So I don't know what they're going to do.
01:18:53
Speaker 2: Wait, is there a thing in the storybook? I have no idea.
01:18:57
Speaker 5: I don't know the lore enough to answer that.
01:19:00
Speaker 2: Yeah, Nick, you shouldn't.
01:19:02
Speaker 6: Say anything right now. He got an answer, but he thought of being wrong.
01:19:08
Speaker 2: Fuck y'all.
01:19:09
Speaker 6: But yeah, I like this end of this.
01:19:14
Speaker 5: Episode because it does.
01:19:24
Speaker 4: I like the guts of it because, Ken, is this episode six, seven, eight trash?
01:19:31
Speaker 2: We're going right here to.
01:19:33
Speaker 4: Be like, this is exactly where you need to get dropped off.
01:19:38
Speaker 2: Just go watch the next Superman movie.
01:19:41
Speaker 5: You don't need to finish the season.
01:19:43
Speaker 4: The guts to do all this, to basically tell a complete story in five episodes, we still have at least almost three hours left of material left. I'm anticipating that next one off of that alone. To see what John's up to, to see how, like, how do we get back to Rushville? Why is he still in contact with Sheriff Kelly? Like, all that shit.
01:20:04
Speaker 3: I'm scared that they'll do that thing where they just drag these last three episodes and be like, bro, what's happening right now? Just different side storylines just won't matter to us.
01:20:15
Speaker 2: I hope they don't do that.
01:20:18
Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, it's a pessimistic view because, like, So far, so good. Like we said, their worst episode is another show's best. So there is a comfortability that I have built with this show where it's just something I watch Sunday night and.
01:20:33
Speaker 2: I guarantee I'm going to enjoy it.
01:20:35
Speaker 4: But at the same time, bro, I've been in a situation before where I really like the show and it end on a shitty note, i.e.
01:20:41
Speaker 2: Snowfall. It was the other Jonathan Major show. Did you watch that?
01:20:48
Speaker 4: I didn't give Lovecraft that much credit as everybody else did.
01:20:52
Speaker 2: It was a cool show, but it wasn't.
01:20:54
Speaker 5: It wasn't like, oh, it wasn't Sinners.
01:20:56
Speaker 2: You got to see this. This is iconic.
01:20:58
Speaker 6: I don't know, man. I think we probably still... I think that.
01:21:05
Speaker 4: Talking through it with y'all, I think the next step is to probably show Jon being.
01:21:10
Speaker 6: Capable enough to have the ring as Hal was.
01:21:14
Speaker 4: When he died and being more of a detective, like, cause now he got to find out who kills how. So I think the next couple of episodes and Anton is still alive.
01:21:23
Speaker 2: Anton died. He blew up.
01:21:25
Speaker 6: Oh, he blew up.
01:21:26
Speaker 2: He blew up. Cause I thought.
01:21:29
Speaker 6: Cause I thought how, how say we don't kill.
01:21:31
Speaker 2: So that's why I didn't think he, he died.
01:21:32
Speaker 6: He killed himself.
01:21:33
Speaker 1: Yeah.
01:21:34
Speaker 4: Oh, okay.
01:21:34
Speaker 1: Okay.
01:21:35
Speaker 2: Okay. So, all right. Nevermind then.
01:21:36
Speaker 3: So, yeah, I don't know, but I think, Yeah, it ain't no other. Like Ken said, Sinestro is the only villain on the board. I couldn't see them introducing a new villain. I could kind of see them making the what's the girl from Ozark?
01:21:56
Speaker 2: Whatever they are. The Guardians.
01:21:59
Speaker 3: The Guardians maybe could be the villains, but I don't know.
01:22:02
Speaker 1: Yeah, but I don't know how they would do that, you know, because I think there is a War of the Guardians or something.
01:22:07
Speaker 2: Like that story. But either way I.
01:22:09
Speaker 1: Go, now that I'm thinking about it, though. Hal doesn't have the ring, so how the hell is Sinestro going to get out? He would have to break him out, or Sinestro would have to break himself out. So I don't know how Sinestro could be the bad guy. He seems the only one left, but now that no one has the ring, what are they going to do? So I'm really at a loss here, now that I think about it. It seemed like the obvious.
01:22:38
Speaker 2: Play, but.
01:22:40
Speaker 6: I mean... I don't know how he's.
01:22:42
Speaker 2: Going to get out. I mean, I would say that.
01:22:47
Speaker 4: I mean, he would be a good person to point to as far as who would want to shoot Howl in the head.
01:22:52
Speaker 2: So that's the only one that makes sense at this point. Everybody else did.
01:22:57
Speaker 1: Nah, because John shot the Manhunter in the head. So that's it.
01:23:02
Speaker 2: No more Manhunters, huh? Because she was the last one. Well, maybe not. Maybe it's that little boy.
01:23:08
Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
01:23:08
Speaker 2: There was a kid, right? He's still alive.
01:23:11
Speaker 3: He asked her about the kid in the first... When he went back and John was sitting there frozen, he asked her about that kid. The kid was an all-state in football or something she said. Yeah, she did.
01:23:23
Speaker 2: The kid's been around for a while now. Maybe he killed her. You killed my sexy grandma. Her and the sheriff of the house started dating, right? Did y'all pick up on that? Did y'all see that? Mm-mm.
01:23:39
Speaker 6: Yeah, I vote from.
01:23:41
Speaker 3: When I watched the review, it was talking about they have a relationship in the future. We were supposed to understand that when John sees her in that scene where we saw him frozen at the football field, that her and Hal had been in a relationship.
01:23:58
Speaker 1: That would make sense because she walked up to John and was like, yo, where's Hal?
01:24:03
Speaker 2: He was like, nah, he's back there.
01:24:05
Speaker 1: And she just kind of looked at him and then walked off, but she didn't say anything. I really don't know what to make of that, but I guess maybe she just wanted to know if he was still alive.
01:24:16
Speaker 2: Yeah. Interesting. Any last thoughts on this episode? I'm here for it.
01:24:21
Speaker 4: All right.
01:24:24
Speaker 6: That top 10.
01:24:25
Speaker 2: List is going to be rough at the end of this year. Yeah.
01:24:29
Speaker 5: If this lands on his feet, it may be up there with one of them ones.
01:24:35
Speaker 2: But we'll see.
01:24:36
Speaker 4: Those are our thoughts on this episode of Lanterns. Please let us know what you guys think. FPS Podcast is the Reddit thread. That's also our handle for IG and Twitter. And we'll catch you next week.
01:24:45
Speaker 2: We out. Peace. Peace.
