00:00:09
Speaker 1: Welcome, everybody, to another episode of the Frames Per Second podcast.
00:00:12
Speaker 2: Kenneth B. Inch here. And we are here to review a.
00:00:19
Speaker 1: Movie titled Hope, which is a science fiction film written and directed, written, directed, and produced by Naeung Jing. And it's a South Korean film. there's a bunch of they call it an ensemble cast of names that I don't even dare want to mess up so.
00:00:42
Speaker 2: But yeah it is this.
00:00:45
Speaker 1: Guy's first film since The Wailing.
00:00:48
Speaker 2: Anybody seen The Wailing? The Wailing? yeah it was very very popular I don't think so it's good it's subtitled too.
00:01:01
Speaker 1: Yeah, I think they had me do that for a solo, so I've watched it as well. But, yeah, apparently this is the most expensive Korean movie ever made.
00:01:22
Speaker 2: Wow. Yeah. Next to what? Next to any other Korean movie?
00:01:28
Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't see what the next one below it was, but yeah.
00:01:31
Speaker 2: Yeah, I guess they don't spend a lot of money on... Was Train to Busan Korean? Yeah. Yeah, I saw that same thing and it didn't make any sense to me either. I didn't bother to look it up.
00:01:46
Speaker 1: I mean, that thing was... I'm sure it cost a lot to make the little monster thing. Yeah.
00:01:50
Speaker 2: You know, it looked expensive. It did. CGI shit. No, it did. I mean, it didn't look... Wait, what? What? Well, I didn't say that. You're always saying the CGI looked expensive? I didn't say that. I'm saying I'm sure it was expensive to make. To make, yeah. I didn't say it looked expensive. Dom could have drawn that.
00:02:03
Speaker 1: But I'm sure it was probably expensive to do, no?
00:02:06
Speaker 2: I mean, I guess. I guess. That's what I would have thought. I'm really confused by this.
00:02:11
Speaker 1: No, it's still expensive, whether it's good or not.
00:02:15
Speaker 2: Spike is right. It still costs to do something like that. Sure, but the CGI in Train to Busan was 10 times better. So how is this more expensive? What was the CGI in Train to Busan? You thought all them zombies were real? When they were falling all over each other? No, you didn't. Shut up. No, you didn't.
00:02:32
Speaker 1: I'm trying to think at what point they were falling all over each other like that.
00:02:34
Speaker 2: Remember when they would just fall all over each other and there'd be big piles of zombies coming after people? Remember the end when they were chasing the train? Oh, yeah, that part. Yeah, okay. It just wasn't as much though, right? I got you. Yeah, and that's not super detailed like they was trying to make this. Yeah. So, yeah. Because I'm thinking about Walking Dead. Walking Dead had real actors doing that stuff. So, yeah. Yeah. Mm-hmm. So, anyway, two hours, 40-some minutes, I think. Almost three hours. Yeah. It was insane length of time.
00:03:09
Speaker 1: I don't know what's up with movies in these long run times lately.
00:03:12
Speaker 2: Yeah, I had to watch them in parts.
00:03:14
Speaker 3: I had to go one day, watch like the first half, and I had to go another day to watch the second half.
00:03:19
Speaker 2: That's crazy. Yeah. Yeah. That's funny. That's crazy.
00:03:24
Speaker 1: Yeah, I went Thursday night, I think.
00:03:30
Speaker 2: And I dreaded every.
00:03:32
Speaker 1: 9.45 because Miles had soccer practice.
00:03:35
Speaker 2: Right.
00:03:35
Speaker 3: And I was trying to go to 8. So I had conflicts like that, too. So I had to leave to go pick up Dom.
00:03:42
Speaker 2: And then I had to coordinate it another day to learn to rest. Yeah, I almost went to....
00:03:50
Speaker 1: Because it was going to be on so late. I was like, well, maybe I'll watch 40X. That'll just keep me. I'm glad I did not. Man, 40X would have been crazy in that movie.
00:03:58
Speaker 2: It was. Oh, you did it? I didn't.
00:04:00
Speaker 1: But when the movie was over, as I was walking out, I walked past the 40X. So I walked in there and sat down right towards the forest scene.
00:04:09
Speaker 2: And yeah, it was a bunch of shaking.
00:04:11
Speaker 1: So I watched a little bit of that just to see what the experience was like. And then I got up and left because it was like 12 something. That's crazy.
00:04:18
Speaker 2: Yeah, it was. But all right, man. Let's see what we thought about this movie. Mike, what did you think about Hope? I really enjoyed it. I really, really enjoyed it. I have no fucking clue what the hell I just watched. And when it ended, I was just like, all right, what was that? Oh, I can say hell, Dom, now. I can say hell. That's not that bad. But... Yeah, I have no idea what I just watched. But when it ended, I was like, this is the kind of movie you go to the movie theater for. Spike? You know what?
00:04:54
Speaker 1: I wasn't excited to see this at all, but I wasn't disappointed when I watched it. My mind said that I wasn't going to see this, but I watched the preview. I didn't remember we watched the preview, but I watched the preview, and I was like, okay. I'll go check this out.
00:05:08
Speaker 2: And it wasn't bad. I don't know.
00:05:10
Speaker 1: What the fuck it was or what they was trying to say by the end, but it wasn't bad. Even with subtitles and everything, I was like, okay, it's a movie.
00:05:20
Speaker 2: Right.
00:05:21
Speaker 3: No, I'm with them, man. This was a good time. This was really fun. Again, I think I understand a little bit more, but no, I did think it was really fun.
00:05:35
Speaker 2: I was in it. the whole time i hated to have to get up.
00:05:39
Speaker 3: And leave and um and then come back i would i really wish i could just sat through the whole thing um but no man i really enjoyed this i thought it executed really well with the exception of like some bad cgi but even given with that i think it still was good.
00:05:55
Speaker 1: Yeah i was surprised how bad the cgi was um yeah that definitely caught me off guard but I will say, this is probably one of the most insane movies I've seen.
00:06:06
Speaker 2: In a while. This shit was all over the place. It was high-paced. It was energetic. It was all kind of crazy shit happening.
00:06:17
Speaker 1: The characters were nuts as hell on all kind of levels. But it definitely started off slow. I'm like you. I did not remember the trailer. Yeah. so and then I saw the run time and I was like man I don't want to watch this shit so I was going in negative and then it took so long to kind of get to where we're going but so I was like oh man here we go but.
00:06:45
Speaker 2: By the time it was over I.
00:06:47
Speaker 1: Was like that shit was nuts that shit was nuts and I really enjoyed this movie a lot so you know I think The first part of the movie really does a lot of, like, we're going to really take about 40 minutes to kind of present this threat from different levels. And, you know, we start with this cow that's been mutilated. and they all come in and start to kind of talk about the cow and what.
00:07:26
Speaker 2: Could have actually mutilated it.
00:07:29
Speaker 1: It was in the middle of the road, and the guy and his hunting buddies, they claimed that it wasn't there when they drove past the first time, and then now it was, and that the suspicion was, after they ruled out a bear, was that it was a tiger.
00:07:44
Speaker 2: That did it. And then.
00:07:48
Speaker 1: one of the running bits in the movie was, what was that guy's name? How, how something. But yeah, Mr. House, House Sula, something like that. And it was like, yeah, Mr. House Sula said it, it must be true. Oh, that's the old guy. Yeah, that was the old guy. That was just kind of, because we're in this really Hope Harbor, which is a small, I guess we learn later, like retirement city.
00:08:15
Speaker 2: It's just a bunch of old people there.
00:08:17
Speaker 1: But what did you guys think about this opening scene where we were introduced to Bumzoc and his cousin, John Key, I think, and then all the other guys that ended up later on. Did they set this up really good with the cow and the size of the claws and stuff like that? I liked the setup. I thought it built the intrigue well as far as The conversations that they had, him acting like the big bad cop that knew everything, and then it turns out that they knew more than he did. It turns out they was fucking with him. The whole setup for this definitely got me intrigued as to what the fuck was going on.
00:09:01
Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree. It started off really good. I was in it from the start. I don't remember watching the trailer either, even though I've seen the trailer multiple times. But for some reason, I had it in my head that this was a zombie movie. I don't know where I got that from. Oh, you did too? I did too. Yeah, I don't know where I got that. But when the cow was mutilated, I was like, okay, so zombies are just running around eating cows now. Cool. But then seeing the feet, I was like, oh, is there a monster zombie? But I think that one thing that Koreans do so well when it comes to horror is they can mix comedy in without fucking up the tension. They do that so well.
00:09:42
Speaker 1: So that's a thing.
00:09:44
Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Like this. The Wailing does it. The Host does it. Train to Busan doesn't really do it. Train to Busan is pretty much serious the whole time. But, yeah, they do a really good job. Tale of Two Sisters even does it. But, yeah, they kicked it off pretty well. I think they did a really good job with the main cop whose name I can't remember. But yeah, I was intrigued from the second it started.
00:10:10
Speaker 1: You know, it's funny that you bring up the comedy thing because my theater was definitely laughing and I was thinking to myself, Usually I'm the person that's laughing without the joke actually being there. But it felt like they came for it.
00:10:25
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. In those films.
00:10:28
Speaker 1: I definitely felt that in my theater as far as some of the stuff that they laughed at and just how the timing was for some wording and stuff.
00:10:35
Speaker 2: My theater didn't laugh at all. Really? My theater was in shambles. Wow. I was like, are they really fucking with this? The theater I went to was sold out completely. I literally got the last seat. In the house. And luckily for me, it was all the way in the back, which is where I like to sit anyway. Where were you? Madison Yards. Oh, you go there too? Okay. Yeah, I got the very last seat. And I had a feeling that people just went.
00:11:01
Speaker 1: Really?
00:11:01
Speaker 2: I had a feeling that they didn't really know what it really was or whatever. Not to be racist, but in front of me, there was a whole line of Asian folks. So I assumed they knew. Again, I know that's racist, but I'm assuming... They knew what was up. And they were laughing. Everybody else was either white or black, and they were silent until the end. It was too busy reading. Huh? It was too busy reading. They might have been like, hold on, what are we... God damn, slow down. What are you saying? God damn. You wanted what? Jesus. They couldn't even tell if it was supposed to be a joke because they couldn't read it fast enough. Right, right. But no, I was laughing a lot during this movie. Um.
00:11:45
Speaker 1: Rod, did it kind of remind you of, like, Train to Busan? The opening of Train to Busan with the animal? I mean, it's the animal in the middle of the road scene a little bit. I didn't think about it.
00:11:57
Speaker 2: Except it didn't get up. Yeah, yeah, it didn't.
00:11:59
Speaker 1: Train to Busan didn't cross my mind.
00:12:01
Speaker 2: Okay.
00:12:02
Speaker 3: I will say, because it was a subtitled Korean film, maybe a.
00:12:08
Speaker 2: Little bit at some point, but nah, for the most part, nah, it just felt like its own movie to me.
00:12:13
Speaker 1: Yeah, I thought about, like, Even though it didn't get up, it was mutilated, but maybe it's probably the recency box because we just reviewed it. But that opened with an animal in the middle of the road that was a sign of something more ominous later on.
00:12:28
Speaker 4: Right.
00:12:29
Speaker 3: I guess the difference to me is kind of what Mike was alluding to earlier about it being a zombie, and that didn't happen.
00:12:35
Speaker 1: So I'm like, okay, this ain't that.
00:12:37
Speaker 2: And the tone is totally different. Well, just the similarities in the opening scene. I didn't think about that. I didn't either. But I see what you're saying. I didn't. I'm way more interested. I was way more.
00:12:46
Speaker 1: Interested in this than I was, which I sound like right off the bat.
00:12:50
Speaker 2: Damn. Yeah.
00:12:57
Speaker 1: So, yeah, so now they're off, and we spend a good part of this first scene going back and forth, like, Turns out, as you mentioned earlier, Spike, they completely lied about that shit.
00:13:09
Speaker 2: That was hilarious.
00:13:12
Speaker 1: And his reaction, too.
00:13:14
Speaker 2: Because they got him. Because he called the other lady and was like, yeah, it's a well-known thing. She's like, what are you talking about? He's like, I ain't never heard of it. I ain't never heard that. He's like, everybody knows. I don't know. I kind of believe them, too. I did, too. I thought that was true.
00:13:32
Speaker 1: Siberia Tiger. I know it wasn't a tiger. Because they went along with it so well. Like, once the first dude said, all of them was in. All of them was like, yeah.
00:13:39
Speaker 2: I did think it was a tiger. But again, I thought it was like a zombie tiger. I didn't realize. For whatever reason, I don't remember this being a monster movie. So I was like, okay, a zombie must have bit a tiger. And the tiger is wild.
00:13:50
Speaker 1: I thought it was dinosaurs again since we.
00:13:52
Speaker 2: Just seen it. You did not.
00:13:53
Speaker 1: I did.
00:13:53
Speaker 2: That is hilarious. Since we just seen it. What was that shit we just saw? In the Oak Street. Yeah, in the Oak Street.
00:14:00
Speaker 1: I was like, oh, shit, another dinosaur movie.
00:14:02
Speaker 2: You thought this was the end of some Asian town. Okay.
00:14:04
Speaker 1: End of dinosaur Oak Town Asian street. right what'd you think about him like now at this point he's running through the the the town trying to warn everybody.
00:14:14
Speaker 3: This was a little annoying actually at first um but i really settled into them having you know this this i don't know just just fearless right because i'm like man what really you see this this month with whatever it is it's throwing stuff at people and all this stuff i'm like man why why do you feel like you can just shoot this thing So that was a little annoying at first for me.
00:14:39
Speaker 1: But I did like it, though. Like I said, I did settle into it. He was funny. He was entertaining. He always was.
00:14:47
Speaker 2: Like, why did he keep doing that? He was. Dude was good, man. He was really good. He was really good.
00:14:53
Speaker 1: So, yeah, I settled into his character a lot.
00:14:56
Speaker 2: But, no, I liked it. I liked the buildup.
00:14:58
Speaker 1: The whole time you're wondering, I don't know about y'all, but the whole time, like.
00:15:00
Speaker 3: Man, what is this thing? And they did a really good job. And intrigued because they teased it a lot of times where you thought it was going to come around the corner and it never did. Even when it was like, oh, it's behind you, it's behind you. You thought you was going to see it then. And so, yeah, they did a really good job at build up in this moment for me.
00:15:17
Speaker 2: Yeah, I really did like that part.
00:15:21
Speaker 1: This is when later on, this is like right a couple of minutes before we actually see this thing where we're in the truck scene and all these people on this truck.
00:15:31
Speaker 2: Right. And they're going to chase this thing. Right. His dumb ass fall off the damn truck.
00:15:36
Speaker 1: Did he?
00:15:36
Speaker 2: I thought he did it on purpose. No, he fell off the back of the truck. He fell. Because if you watch, it hit a bump. I remember it hit a bump. Oh, my God. I was dying. Because he had the bag.
00:15:47
Speaker 1: So I was like, did he do.
00:15:47
Speaker 2: It on purpose? No. No, he wasn't stealing ammo.
00:15:51
Speaker 1: They were like, where did he go?
00:15:53
Speaker 2: Say, where did he go? That shit was so funny. Because we didn't see it. That's what made it funny. We didn't see it. Yeah. Yeah. Go ahead.
00:16:04
Speaker 1: They did a really good job of setting this up in the sense of, usually I'd be annoyed, like what I was saying, because I'm like, bro, why are you running towards this thing?
00:16:12
Speaker 2: Right.
00:16:13
Speaker 1: Like, wow, you should be leaving. Like, you see this shit that's happening? But how I knew they were doing a really good job of it, I was so intrigued just to see what the fuck this thing was.
00:16:23
Speaker 2: Right, right, right.
00:16:23
Speaker 1: Like, what's throwing cars and people around the corner and shit like that? So this was really good to set up. It didn't... Go ahead.
00:16:32
Speaker 2: It didn't bother me the way it bothered you because, one, I don't know if they factually said it, but I got the impression it was a retirement town, too. So I'm glad one of y'all backed that up. But the police force there is so small. Mm-hmm. So I just assumed like, because he didn't want to do it. You can tell he didn't want to run towards it. But he was like, there's nobody else here that can handle it. So I'm just going to do it because that's my job. But what was so good about it to me was that this felt realistic. It did. If there is a monster, you're going to tell me you wouldn't see a whole bunch of rednecks out in the truck shooting it. I did think about it. I did think about that.
00:17:09
Speaker 3: That's what made it realistic to me. Yeah, I did think about that. But I'm like, yo, this thing is like, the town is like, done. What are you really going to do?
00:17:18
Speaker 2: That's what people think. They just keep shooting and eventually it's going to die.
00:17:23
Speaker 3: Because I did start thinking about Godzilla because they thought they could just destroy Godzilla.
00:17:31
Speaker 2: But that was an army though.
00:17:32
Speaker 3: You see what I'm saying? So that was a difference. I was like, but that was an army. Not like one police officer.
00:17:37
Speaker 2: It wasn't just the one The one cop, it was all of those people thought, okay, yeah, this thing has destroyed the whole town. People are dead, but I haven't shot at it yet.
00:17:49
Speaker 1: When I shoot at it, it's going to die.
00:17:51
Speaker 2: Let me and the boys go over there and handle it. Let me and the boys go down there. We're going to go handle it. We're going to shoot it. We got different kind of bullets. We've been ready for this. We've been ready. This felt realistic as hell. I don't know much about Korean culture, so I have to put it into American culture. Yeah. It did feel like good old boys. It did feel like good old boys. Asian good old boys. Mm-hmm. I'm sure they exist. Asian rednecks.
00:18:12
Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, you even had the one guy that had fucking arrows.
00:18:16
Speaker 2: Now, that was a little.
00:18:17
Speaker 1: And he was like, you got arrows? Where you going, bro? But it's almost, he asked him like, man, what are you going to do with fucking arrows? Because he almost lit him up.
00:18:26
Speaker 2: He was like, why are you shooting at me? Right.
00:18:29
Speaker 1: And this was like one of the... I think this was when we saw Roddy. He was throwing the bicycle and the car and shit. And then that's when he started chasing after this thing. And almost shot that dude. He was like, yeah, I saw it.
00:18:41
Speaker 2: It's big. The claws are big.
00:18:43
Speaker 1: It's a mixture of peas and beans or something he said. Mashed up peas and beans.
00:18:48
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:19:26
Speaker 1: But they still ran their ass toward this thing with arrows and the fucking damn gun.
00:19:33
Speaker 2: Mm-hmm. I'm like, what in the hell? Yeah, they wanted to go find it. That was funny.
00:19:37
Speaker 1: He was like, what the fuck are you shooting? You shoot at everybody you meet, asshole?
00:19:44
Speaker 2: That joke was funny. Yeah, so.
00:19:48
Speaker 1: And he was he was with them for a while um they went into another thing i think this butcher shop and uh they end up shooting some other guy.
00:19:57
Speaker 2: Oh yeah what is this movie they didn't really just shoot some dude right right.
00:20:04
Speaker 3: And the way he tried to make it seem like he wasn't a part of it, he was like, no, you shot him too.
00:20:08
Speaker 2: He shot him too. He's like, I was listening to you. He's like, I didn't say shoot.
00:20:13
Speaker 1: This dialogue was so good.
00:20:15
Speaker 2: It was. It was really good. But again, no one was laughing but me and the Asian folks in front of me. The girl next to me was in a blanket and she was just like, what the fuck?
00:20:23
Speaker 1: Man, my whole theater was cracking up.
00:20:25
Speaker 2: Oh, man.
00:20:27
Speaker 1: Yeah, so, and, you know, the hunters, because he called in some of the other boys, uh, It was the Fantasy Hunters, too, where they came with the little shirt out and the fancy glasses and shit.
00:20:38
Speaker 2: I didn't understand them. I assume I missed a part. Where did they come from? You didn't say?
00:20:43
Speaker 1: I thought that they had been looking for... No, so remember at the beginning when they kind of set this thing up? I don't know if they were trying to do this for cash, if this.
00:20:52
Speaker 2: Was like.
00:20:54
Speaker 1: Some sort of, I don't want to say scam or con or whatever, but When he was talking at the beginning, he was like, yeah, it's a tiger, whatever, whatever. Oh, maybe when, because when they were hunting, they went to the barn, and there was a bull that was mutilated.
00:21:09
Speaker 2: Right.
00:21:09
Speaker 1: And they were talking about it smelled like fish, and that's when they found the severed arm that had the one heart on the tattoo.
00:21:15
Speaker 2: And they're going to get you. What? Oh. We'll see you later.
00:21:22
Speaker 1: And then he called the sheriff, and he was like, yo, we just found an arm in a tree. And then it was like, yeah, I'm going to go in and call in the boys to come help with that.
00:21:34
Speaker 2: Oh, that was the boys. I thought he was calling backup cops. I'm stupid. That makes sense.
00:21:39
Speaker 1: He kept trying to call backup cops, but there were none.
00:21:42
Speaker 2: Right. Yeah. Right. That's why I didn't even think about that. OK.
00:21:46
Speaker 1: Yeah, because I think that's when he called Officer Kim and he called Officer Kim, the other person there and all kind of other stuff.
00:21:52
Speaker 2: But yeah, so that's that's where they came from.
00:21:55
Speaker 1: It threw me off, too, because I remember them saying it, but then they arrived, and then that's when they went in the woods, and he had their little dog come out, which I guess hung him, because they didn't know they were chasing an.
00:22:05
Speaker 2: Alien at that point. That dog served no purpose. Yeah, nah. Didn't die, didn't nothing. Like, disappeared. Yeah, it really did. Nothing ever happened to him.
00:22:19
Speaker 1: But, yeah, this mystery, this build-up, and I'm trying to remember when I was watching it. I won't lie, the beginning of this movie was frustrating. Because I knew they were trying to build up to finally show the monster and all this other stuff. And it's like, oh man, we're really going to spend 40 minutes doing all of this. And I'm thinking about, they used to do this with Godzilla too. It was a Godzilla thing where you spend the whole movie just waiting to see it and you don't see it until the end of the movie.
00:22:50
Speaker 2: It shows up for the last 30 minutes every time.
00:22:52
Speaker 1: So we didn't get that in this one, but clearly it was, it was, it was a thing that they were doing.
00:22:58
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:22:59
Speaker 1: Um, but cause we kept going back and forth, but yeah, that bull, that bull scene, that's when we hear it. They kept saying this thing smelled like fish and, and, and stuff like that. So I don't know what that means, but, um, but yeah, the arm was in there and there was like, Oh, we got a fucking problem here. So, um, but yeah, so, uh, so we shot the people, um, So then this scene was crazy when he was like, yeah, it's behind you.
00:23:27
Speaker 2: And then they started unloading. Yes, yes. They were like, it's behind you, it's behind you. And then they started shooting at him. He's like, what, what?
00:23:37
Speaker 1: And then he ducked behind the car, and then they running behind him, trying to chase him. He was like, you almost died. He was like, no fucking shit, because y'all shot at me.
00:23:44
Speaker 2: Yeah, that was funny, too. Yeah, yeah.
00:23:47
Speaker 1: But that whole setup was the trucks go across, go around. And then the truck is thrown back. And then another truck comes pulling around. They steal all their ammo, hop on the truck to go chase this thing, only to run into the fucking monster and get smashed. And then that's when old boy looked out to look for his brother. They're running, chasing him. Another comedic part where you say, why does he smell like that? I think he breathes halls or something like that. And then they finally find it. And this motherfucker, bro, you see the claw reach out, snatch this dude back.
00:24:25
Speaker 2: That was crazy. Man.
00:24:29
Speaker 1: Mike, what did you think when we finally saw this motherfucker pop out looking like.
00:24:33
Speaker 2: Attack on Titan? I thought he looked like Young Thug. What? I said, they done turned Young Thug into a fucking anime monster.
00:24:40
Speaker 1: Did you expect something like a human-looking figure?
00:24:43
Speaker 2: No, because I don't, again, I don't know why I don't remember them showing... any of the creatures in the trailer. Maybe they did and I just blocked it out.
00:24:52
Speaker 1: I think they showed like one. It wasn't this one.
00:24:54
Speaker 2: It wasn't this one.
00:24:55
Speaker 3: It wasn't this one. But I think they showed that one that had like the antlers on the back and stuff.
00:24:59
Speaker 2: Okay. I think they showed that one. Maybe I only watched one trailer. Maybe the trailer I saw didn't. Anyways, anyways, all that to say, no, I did not expect this one. walk-a-flock-a-looking ass fucking man. I did not expect that at all. And I was like, what? This is a human? So then that made the entire thing even more confusing because I was like, wait, are these experiments on humans? Is this a zombie? What is this thing? But I didn't get the size of it until I'm fucking stood up. And I was like, oh! what is a big ass zombie thing? Man, this part was so good because the design of the monster looked great. It was just, when he started running, I was like, bro, what are y'all doing? Is this, Is this intentional? Why does it look like that? You don't like the running? It looked ridiculous. They had to do that on purpose. I'm still wondering.
00:26:05
Speaker 1: I had the same thought, looking like they're not doing, they're not being for real right now.
00:26:09
Speaker 2: They can't be. Because the rest of the movie is so great. Why did this look like dog shit when it was running? It looked like a bad, bad, bad 80s movie. But the design of the creature, I was like, okay, so it's a big human thing. When that, man, when that motherfucker picked up a person and hit the other person with the person, I was done. And I'm looking around like, how are y'all.
00:26:39
Speaker 3: Not enjoying this? I don't know how they were quiet doing this.
00:26:44
Speaker 2: Me either. Man, that is wild. I was crying.
00:26:47
Speaker 3: Man, this was so good. It was so good. And then the buildup to it, because you saw it. throwing stuff this whole time. So now it's like, oh yeah, they were really throwing stuff.
00:26:56
Speaker 2: You know what I mean? I thought it was just strong. I didn't know it was like big, like athletic. What? Big and goofy.
00:27:05
Speaker 3: Like the way it was running, it didn't fall in.
00:27:09
Speaker 1: Oh, man, this was executed so well.
00:27:12
Speaker 2: It really was. It really was, man. I wish they could fix the CGI.
00:27:16
Speaker 1: Even when you see it in the distance about to pick up something and throw it.
00:27:19
Speaker 2: Yes.
00:27:19
Speaker 1: It was just like, golly, this is really good.
00:27:22
Speaker 2: And then see that running towards him. I'm like, yo, and it's fast. Like, yeah. I didn't expect the speed. No. That was a black monster for sure. It definitely was. For sure. Yeah, Dreadlocks, Anakin, one. Yeah, that was black. It was definitely black. Shit. Bung Sook, he was all an ass. Yeah, he was. Because it caught him, but it couldn't catch him. Yeah.
00:27:46
Speaker 1: I like the fact, though, and I don't think I've ever seen this, and I was thinking about this when I was watching it. Like, the fact that they was chasing a monster. You never really see that in scary movies. I mean, you know more so than I am. But, like, I like the dynamic how it kept going back and forth as to where at some point he was chasing them, then they was chasing it, trying to kill it.
00:28:03
Speaker 2: Like, I thought that was dope. Yeah. Yeah.
00:28:06
Speaker 1: Spike, what did you think about when Officer Kim showed up?
00:28:10
Speaker 2: I liked her. She wasn't playing absolutely no games.
00:28:15
Speaker 1: I was like, so everybody in this town about this life.
00:28:17
Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying, yeah. They bought this life.
00:28:18
Speaker 1: They ain't playing about their little town. Well, who come in here and fuck it up? I liked her.
00:28:23
Speaker 2: Yeah. That was my girl. I was like, who is this little fuck? Right. Asian bae.
00:28:29
Speaker 1: Did you think once, because she had the gun, I'm like, where the fucking grenades at?
00:28:33
Speaker 2: I thought grenades were in that motherfucker, bro. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm like, where the fucking grenades at? You just keep going. And I'm like. If you ain't doing this, you doing this. They going to get you, man. They can do whatever. But she was launching smoke bombs. Yeah. And I'm like... Now, them was grenades. Nah, those were grenades. Those were grenades. Oh, they were grenades.
00:28:51
Speaker 1: First, she was shooting like them big-ass. 50 caliber bullets. And then once she seen that that wasn't doing shit, she started loading the grenades. Yeah, I don't know why she was shooting that at first.
00:28:59
Speaker 2: She should have... Yeah. Because it was too far away, I assumed.
00:29:02
Speaker 1: Yeah, the grenade launch point, she couldn't get it that far.
00:29:04
Speaker 2: That's what I thought. Okay. I guess, okay, I guess it may, okay, got you. Maybe, maybe. It looked like smoke bombs because it was blowing up the dust. Gotcha. Okay, because I was like. Because one of them hit it and fucked it up. I know, messed up his leg. Yeah. And that motherfucker still was fast. And he learned really quickly how to run like that. I thought that was interesting. He did. Because at first it was limping. It's like, God.
00:29:24
Speaker 1: And then he started picking up speed. I was like, God, man, this is crazy.
00:29:28
Speaker 4: But, um.
00:29:29
Speaker 3: But no, yeah, I liked her when she rolled up, though. Like, yeah, she rolled up and got business.
00:29:34
Speaker 2: Yeah, she was. She was.
00:29:35
Speaker 1: She was telling them, like, move out of the way or whatever. So, yeah, she started shooting. They did kind of have bad aim, though.
00:29:42
Speaker 2: They were. They were just, like, kind of shooting. I thought they were hitting it, but it just went away. It looked like they was hitting, like, everything around it.
00:29:48
Speaker 1: They were hitting it just to induce shit.
00:29:51
Speaker 2: They explained that later. As we've seen later, yeah. Yeah, they just induce shit. And they were far away. That's true. So I gave them that grace.
00:29:58
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true. Now, she got busy, though. I don't know.
00:30:02
Speaker 2: 85-foot monster running at you, you're not going to just be calm.
00:30:05
Speaker 3: I feel like I would, I mean, because the target's big, I feel like I'd be hitting that dead on.
00:30:09
Speaker 2: But it's big and fast. Yeah, it was. It was fucking zigzagging. That shit was crazy. Yeah, it was crazy.
00:30:17
Speaker 1: And it was blocking shit like this, too, as well. Yeah, it was smart as shit. It knew when to attack, like you said, Spike, and it knew when to run, when to retreat. And when it lost its leg, I just couldn't believe he was running that fast without a leg, bro.
00:30:33
Speaker 3: And before he lost his leg, when he tried to hit him with that motorcycle, and it just shattered.
00:30:38
Speaker 2: It shattered.
00:30:39
Speaker 1: I was just like, man, this is so good. But he was like, where'd you get all this stuff from? She was like, that shit don't fucking matter right now.
00:30:45
Speaker 2: Why are we talking about that right now?
00:30:47
Speaker 1: Why?
00:30:47
Speaker 2: Asking stupid questions. She was just like, it's so disrespectful. I can't stand the sight of it. That's the joke part you be talking about that they able to add into it. So yeah, man, it was.
00:30:59
Speaker 1: And they never really explained what she was talking about. She was just upset. She was pissed that he was there.
00:31:04
Speaker 2: Yeah, she was mad that he was destroying the town.
00:31:05
Speaker 1: Yeah, she's mad. She's like, monster or not, it's disrespectful.
00:31:12
Speaker 2: That was funny, man. I'm telling you, that was so funny. It was because it was so unusual. You're like, what is she talking about? Because we get stupid shit like Shaun of the Dead or something. And it's all just slapstick. This is like good humor for a monster movie. It doesn't fit. It makes no sense. But it still works. Or maybe Korean folks are like that. I don't really know that many Korean folks. I was thinking like, damn, man. The humor is like that. I don't know. I have no idea.
00:31:40
Speaker 1: Yeah, me either, but Yeah, but they had it on the run, and then he had a chance to line it up to shoot it, and he hesitated, and then the shit started to flip, Rod, and then we saw this motherfucker look like it was scared.
00:31:55
Speaker 2: Yeah. And sad.
00:31:56
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, it had like, yeah, so I definitely was wondering like, okay, wait, wait, what is going on here?
00:32:01
Speaker 2: Me too.
00:32:02
Speaker 1: Or whatever, because, yeah. When they rolled up and sat in the car.
00:32:05
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. Slow-mo scene.
00:32:08
Speaker 1: Yeah, like it, it, it went from like this thing that's terrified and attacking everybody.
00:32:14
Speaker 2: It seemed like it was, it was aggressive to.
00:32:19
Speaker 1: Defending himself or we didn't know what it was, but now it went to something that was being a victim. So they kind of humanize or add this sort of, uh, emotional level to this thing that was destroying the city, which he hesitated to shoot it because he saw that.
00:32:35
Speaker 2: Yeah. Um, until, until, Until he got mad again and tried to kill him.
00:32:40
Speaker 3: It just made me think of another part when I'm over there snuck up behind him.
00:32:45
Speaker 2: That was crazy. I was like, oh, he's dead. I thought he was too. How did he get away from that? He saw the shadow. He saw the shadow.
00:32:53
Speaker 1: At the very last minute, he turned around and started shooting.
00:32:55
Speaker 2: He turned around, but how did he get away? He started shooting. Didn't he? I think so. I don't remember.
00:33:00
Speaker 1: He shot it with something, and then he started running. I think it got hit by a car or something.
00:33:05
Speaker 2: That was late. No, that was later.
00:33:06
Speaker 3: That was a truck. That was a truck. But, no, I think he just saw the shadow. He turned around and started shooting. I think that was it. Yeah, I think that was really it. Because my theater was like, ooh.
00:33:16
Speaker 2: Mine, too. Oh, man, he was so quiet. Wait, can it change size?
00:33:22
Speaker 1: It just looked like, I feel like the... where we were on the screen, it appeared to get bigger because it was walking towards the camera.
00:33:30
Speaker 2: But I feel you, though. Sometimes it looked different. Yeah, it looked like it was changing sides. It was changing heights. But even the doctor said it looked smaller than what you described. It sure did. I think that was just to outline that there's different kinds of them things.
00:33:47
Speaker 3: Maybe, but Ken might be on to something with that because even when it was running on the road, it didn't look as big.
00:33:55
Speaker 2: I think that was just bad CGI.
00:33:57
Speaker 1: I will say, when I did see the creature, I was definitely surprised, and I was like, that was a human. Then I was thinking about Attack on Titan, which you've seen that. I was like, what in the hell kind of Attack on Titan shit is this? It turned out to not be that, but it definitely reminded me about that. Then I was like, man, an Attack on Titan series or movie could be fucking dope if they did it, because that's what it seemed like it was doing, but it was far from that. But that's when they were chasing the thing, and it finally got angry again, tried to kill him, and then that's when it got ran over by this damn truck.
00:34:33
Speaker 2: Yo, that was wild.
00:34:34
Speaker 1: I said, if it ain't dead now, I don't know what's going to kill it.
00:34:36
Speaker 2: Nah, it don't kill that shit. Really? I thought it was dead.
00:34:39
Speaker 1: The way that thing was rolling in that semi-truck?
00:34:42
Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. I was like, it got to be dead. I was like, raw. Turns out it was.
00:34:47
Speaker 1: I was like, raw, that shit had to be dead. But what I will say about.
00:34:51
Speaker 1: When they rolled up and saw the face thing, usually that shit's cheap and cheesy in movies. They didn't do a bad job of it though. I really felt like, it made me think about the backstory of what the thing was in that moment versus being cheesy. And I thought they did a good job of that.
00:35:08
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:35:08
Speaker 1: Well, we do get the backstory later and I don't know that, yeah, I don't know if that was the thing or it was the other one I was looking for.
00:35:21
Speaker 2: Um you know his.
00:35:22
Speaker 1: Baby or whatever but uh either way um so after that his dad they kill it we we kind of things get a little bit calm so uh the sheriff go back the mayor the mayor's nephew's working there he didn't go out there to do shit he stayed in that old he was like you've been here the whole time he didn't do shit um And that's when he ran into the guy that said, oh, he killed a monster. Sheriff was like, the chief was like, ain't no fucking way. You killed that damn thing that I just saw. You gotta be lying. Turns out he wasn't lying. And then he turns out he actually killed a baby. In the middle of all that, we also had the autopsy that was taking place. And that's why That's where we found out how strong his skin was.
00:36:18
Speaker 2: And we hear more about how it smells, about fish.
00:36:22
Speaker 1: And she had to pull out a chainsaw just to dissect it, which was fucking nuts. I like how she just died right here. All the questions that she had was like, I got to get the work on the fuck about what this is.
00:36:37
Speaker 2: Let's see what this on the inside is. I was waiting for it to wake up. I was too. And they kept teasing like it was. Yeah, they did.
00:36:45
Speaker 3: I was just like, hmm.
00:36:50
Speaker 1: And then, in the midst of all that, before we get to the big final act, we get the story from the old man.
00:37:00
Speaker 2: I love this. This was so good. Again, no one's laughing but me and the Asians. Oh, man. Are you serious? Yes. This was so funny. Because even if you didn't read the subtitle, this is just his delivery of it. Yes. Oh, this was funny. I think that the people that were there, they didn't expect, like, comedy. They thought it was just a horror movie. So they were probably just like, this is goofy. I can see that. But I didn't expect comedy at all. Not like this. I didn't either, but it still was good. A fart and shit joke, I'll take any day. And an elongated shit joke. This was hilarious, though. He said he never hold his asshole that tight. He said, I had one hand on my hand and the other hand up my ass. Plugged up with the middle finger. What are we doing? And when he, did y'all see when he put his hand and he put it over his mouth? He was like, oh. Come on, why are y'all not laughing? He was like, oh. He was like, oh. Oh, God, that joke was so funny. The way he delivered it was so funny. He was so funny. You bet how he started. Yeah.
00:38:01
Speaker 1: I must have had some bad spicy pork.
00:38:05
Speaker 2: He's like, why are we focusing on this? He said it must have been bad. He was like, what? What are you talking about? He knew every single detail. He did.
00:38:14
Speaker 1: All she needed to know was, all he said was there were more monsters out there.
00:38:18
Speaker 2: That's another one, bro. That's all you need to say. He made this story so intriguing. I had to pop a squat and it just kept going and going. He said then he sniffed. He said he sniffed. Oh, my God. And he looked at me. He sniffed. And then he looked at me. He said I thought it. He said, that's when I saw him leaked out. Oh, my God. Yes, he did. And that's when he said he had to plug up. He had to plug up his asshole with his finger. This was so good. This was so good. I would.
00:38:50
Speaker 1: One of the most insane stories I've heard ever. I was not expecting it. And the fact, like, it just kept going. He was like, bro, stop, bro.
00:39:01
Speaker 2: Right.
00:39:02
Speaker 3: Right. Right, and they did a little flashback of it. They really made this a drawn-out story.
00:39:09
Speaker 1: Nah, that was really good. Okay, so, because, again, it came back into play later because when he went, she was like, oh, shit, they're more monsters. She hopped on the bike because she couldn't reach him on the phone, drove out to the guy that had the baby thing, and she told him, Bum, and the other guy, like, yeah, like, there are more out there. And then they brought the joke back. It was like, yeah, who told you that?
00:39:39
Speaker 2: He was like, yeah, Hal. I'm going to just call him Hal. He was like, oh, yeah, he said it, and it must be true. It must be true. But I got to ask y'all, though. did y'all believe his story yeah yeah i believed every word all those details bro yeah he had to be you can't make that oh no he said it was four he was just like well he said it was three i was like why is that funny but it is i know how it is it is all of it worked it just worked some.
00:40:08
Speaker 3: Bruh man shit he got he gotta be in other movies and he must be like a Like a gnome character or something.
00:40:15
Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't look, but that was a crazy story. But, yeah, it turns out all this stuff may have started because they killed the baby, and that's what it was running around looking for. It was looking for the baby, which makes total sense. It added so much context to, like, the emotions of the creature.
00:40:32
Speaker 2: What?
00:40:32
Speaker 1: Him saying during the autopsy that he saw tears and stuff like that.
00:40:36
Speaker 2: Did this kind of.
00:40:37
Speaker 1: Change how you guys viewed the monster at all? Because now, well, yeah, the monster at all. I figured there was some context that we were missing versus it just being the few Korean films that I have seen, they are very well thought out. So I knew that there had to be some underlying context that we were missing and hadn't gotten yet that would make us look at it differently.
00:40:59
Speaker 2: So I expected this. What about you, Rod? Oh, go ahead. No, I was going to say the same. Yeah.
00:41:08
Speaker 3: I think that that one scene, the slow motion scene set us up for this scene.
00:41:13
Speaker 2: Later so yeah you start wondering okay what what.
00:41:16
Speaker 3: Is actually happening here with the monsters why are they here um is this like an intentional like invasion type thing and yeah you start kind of bringing it down it doesn't didn't really seem like it at that.
00:41:28
Speaker 1: Moment there was a sign that they show on the screen it was in the city uh and it said something about infiltration It said, protect the nation from.
00:41:44
Speaker 2: Infiltration. Yeah, infiltration.
00:41:47
Speaker 1: Which I thought that was interesting. I meant to look it up to see if it had any additional meaning outside of relating to the movie. And I'm sure it has to mean something. But I did not expect there to have been a baby, and that's why it's causing all this issue.
00:42:08
Speaker 2: No, I didn't.
00:42:09
Speaker 1: I thought you were just terrorizing the town. I mean, you know, it's a typical monster movie. It's just like, it's just killing people. But they found a way to sort of humanize this thing to make his actions justified. And it showed, like, the reactions from humans when it comes.
00:42:25
Speaker 2: To that sort of thing.
00:42:26
Speaker 1: So they're protecting their territory, and this thing is just looking for his baby that this guy that they clearly are presenting to us as an imbecile killed because he was out there hunting.
00:42:36
Speaker 2: And he was talking about, where's my $ 800? And all this other stuff.
00:42:41
Speaker 1: Um, so yeah, it was, it was a, it was a nice twist to the movie.
00:42:47
Speaker 2: Um, what'd you think about that, Mike? I didn't, I didn't know that those were tears until he said it. I saw the water. I thought that the monster was drooling when it was running. I never put, I never put it together that the monster was crying. Me either. So when they said it and it turns out, oh, it's just been looking for its baby. I was like, oh. So the interesting thing is, for those of you that have seen Attack the Block, I just reviewed that for Patreon. And, you know, spoiler alert, that's kind of the plot of that movie, too. So I was like, oh, this is actually kind of like Attack the Block. But it did humanize the creature and it definitely made you think, oh, y'all killed a parent. Like, this thing really wasn't evil, but then you start thinking, well, nah, because it killed a lot of people. It killed a lot of people, some innocent cows. They couldn't have thought the cow took the damn baby. So, nah, nah, the thing is evil, but I don't know. It's almost justifiably evil. It was an interesting twist.
00:43:51
Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, you think about creatures in the wild, you come near their babies, they're going to go all kind of feral and human as parents do the same thing. So, it killed, but within reason because we didn't see how any of this started. So, yeah, it was attacking, killing bulls and shit like that, but, you know, it had the appearance of having animalistic instincts.
00:44:17
Speaker 2: Right. So, I don't know.
00:44:20
Speaker 1: At that moment, that's what it appeared like, but turns out that may not have been the case at all because while all of that was going on, these motherfuckers come across a goddamn alien spaceship, which... What did you think about the spaceship, the design of the spaceship and stuff like that, Mike?
00:44:37
Speaker 2: It looked tight. Yeah. It was just like a big ball. And when they went inside, I even like the fact that they went inside and there was like a little dog or something in there. Yeah. But they never even explored it. They just... They shone a flashlight down there. That little dog peeked around the corner, and they were like, what the hell is that? And then they just moved on. So it's just giving us this impression that, like, yeah, there's a lot of these creatures, but there's all different kinds, and we don't even need to explore every single one. But when I saw that big-ass marble spaceship, I was like, oh, the little Wayne monster didn't fly that. Something else flew that. I was like, y'all asses are in trouble. Yeah.
00:45:22
Speaker 1: And Spike, as they always do, they end up touching some shit they didn't have any business touching.
00:45:28
Speaker 2: Leave that shit alone.
00:45:30
Speaker 1: And he touched it and the damn thing opened up. That's when we saw the dog that Mike was talking about. And that's when them other motherfuckers came out. And this one thing was in there.
00:45:39
Speaker 2: Camouflaged, hiding. And then they saw it.
00:45:44
Speaker 1: They all ran and they realized they were lured into a trap.
00:45:49
Speaker 2: I love this.
00:45:50
Speaker 1: And once again, Humans being humans, the guy was like, fuck this, and.
00:45:56
Speaker 2: Shot at the thing. And then all hell broke loose. I might have shot, too, though. Got to. Because that big avatar-looking one. See, at this point, I was like, okay, what the hell is going on with this movie? What is this? I did not expect that big blue thing to come walking around the corner.
00:46:15
Speaker 1: With the things around it and stuff like that?
00:46:18
Speaker 2: Yeah, man. And then they shot at it. What is this? I was like, yo. Real confidently. Yeah. And the motherfucker was joking. They had a sexy phone set point. She was just like, y'all done fucked up now. Yeah.
00:46:35
Speaker 1: Nah, this whole part was good. Because we had heard her say shit. It was like, did this motherfucker just talk?
00:46:41
Speaker 2: Right. Oh, yeah, it was talking.
00:46:43
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. When the caption said, I don't know what the fuck this bitch is saying.
00:46:50
Speaker 2: Done. Done. Done. Because that is exactly what we would say. I don't know. What the fuck is this trying to say? I was crying when I thought about that. That would have been my exact words. What is this bitch saying? And they said something else, too. Something like, I think they said about the ship, it looks dope.
00:47:11
Speaker 1: Did y'all see that when he said that?
00:47:12
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
00:47:13
Speaker 1: It looks dope. Oh, that's freaking dope. But I think that was when.
00:47:19
Speaker 2: Because I think that's when they found the blood. He held that stick against that guy's nose. Oh, my God. Yeah. And he kept sniffing it. We do that, too. Yep.
00:47:30
Speaker 3: It's like, why are we sniffing it again?
00:47:32
Speaker 2: Because you didn't believe yourself the first time. You got to make sure. I mean, it's so real. You got to make sure it smelled like that. You be like, what is that? Let me try it again. Hold on. Wait. Let me smell it. Let me smell it again. It's so weird that we do that.
00:47:46
Speaker 1: And that's when he said, oh, that's so freaking dope and freaking cool. I think this was before they found the ship. And then it was like, oh, he said something. He said, no, I got a bad feeling about it. He said, this pussy always wrote the fucking move.
00:47:59
Speaker 2: You're right. No, he doesn't.
00:48:02
Speaker 1: But yeah, but at this point, all hell fucking breaks loose, bro. This thing threw this fucking spear on target, nailed it. And it was a wrap. We were off to the races at this point. This, by far, made the fucking movie for me.
00:48:22
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:48:22
Speaker 1: Because everything from this point on was in fucking sane.
00:48:27
Speaker 2: Yeah, then slow down. Yeah.
00:48:29
Speaker 1: Like, this thing is... We got this fucking dog creature that's chasing these damn things.
00:48:37
Speaker 2: We heard earlier.
00:48:38
Speaker 1: that don't eat fucking horses, so they're on these horses, and they're running around in these horses. We see a headless, a bodiless horse, mounted horse. The green thing chases somebody. The woman with the antlers chases somebody. It was fucking insane.
00:48:58
Speaker 2: Fucking chaos.
00:48:59
Speaker 1: These other guys, the other guys that come up to save him, and they were like, let's go. They get on the horse, they go chase the noise. And he lines up and then he shoot the thing because it's about to get my boy. And it was like, you see that? It was like hell of a shot. I'm like, bro, these are fucking monsters. And y'all sit here bragging about shit.
00:49:20
Speaker 2: I mean, it was a good shot. It was a good shot. Right in the head.
00:49:23
Speaker 1: And then that's when he came and he scooped him up on the horse. Yo, the action, the way they said all this shit, all this was dope, bro. Yeah, it was complete chaos this one, like you said. Like, I had given up on figuring out, like, hey, where are we going with this? What's about to happen? It's like, we here for the ride, bro. That's exactly how I felt. It's like, I just, to see how this ends. It was crazy when, like, I guess the big boss showed up, the big dude. Like, that was like, wow. I was like, man, how they going to beat this?
00:49:46
Speaker 2: What? Yeah, I don't know. I was just like, are they Transformers now? But, Mike. Bro, I'm tripping. I get you, Mike. But man, I did not know the dog was that thing. That's what I'm saying. That's what I'm saying. When it turned into that man, I was like, that was the time that the entire theater actually spoke up.
00:50:06
Speaker 1: Oh, okay.
00:50:06
Speaker 2: Because it was a resounding, what the fuck was happening? Right, right. Because I did not expect that dog thing to turn into a man.
00:50:13
Speaker 3: So that's why I'm like, I'm not totally throwing his theory out about it changing and shifting sides.
00:50:20
Speaker 1: Well, it seemed like they all had powers. But, yeah, I did think about that again during this moment. I was like, maybe it did kind of change because they all had this sort of ability.
00:50:31
Speaker 2: No, yeah, y'all are right. Because when she was standing on top of it, cutting it, doing the autopsy thing, it was smaller. Yeah, it was smaller. So, yeah, maybe y'all are right because Transformers do do that. Like Megatron turned real tiny when he turns into a gun. Yeah. Thanks, buddy.
00:50:51
Speaker 1: But, yeah, all this action sequence of him evading and running from it.
00:50:57
Speaker 2: Benny got closed wide by the tree. All right, see, now this part I was like, what is happening here? He was on the ground. This was ridiculous. Is he a super serum? Like, what is happening right now? I don't know. I don't know, bro, but he couldn't breathe.
00:51:13
Speaker 1: He had no business getting that gun, number one, because the creature walked by him. Apparently he can't see. when he's in the dog shape, and then he decided to get the gun. And then it hurt him, and then that's when it transformed. And then that's when Spike, he was trying to fight this thing.
00:51:28
Speaker 2: Oh, my God. This was funny. This was funny.
00:51:31
Speaker 3: And by this time, I'm settled into them just having the audacity to fight these creatures.
00:51:37
Speaker 1: But now, again, I thought this was.
00:51:39
Speaker 2: And then when he hit him, he hit him like two or three times, like slugging him across the floor. That was the only part that... If there's a part I could say I didn't like, this is as close as it gets to I didn't really like this. Right, right. Because he should be dead. He should be dead. He should absolutely be dead. The impact of the hit or the impact of the ground. Right. Like something should have killed him. He threw him into four different trees. Right. And this dude kept getting back up. All right, man. What are we doing?
00:52:05
Speaker 1: If not dead, at least two broke up to like.
00:52:07
Speaker 2: Yes.
00:52:08
Speaker 1: Yeah, internal bleeding, broken bones, everything. You know, I agree, because I thought he was dead. He kept getting up. I think that was kind of leaning into just the humor of it all or whatever a little bit.
00:52:19
Speaker 2: Even the creature was like, man, what is wrong with these? I don't know.
00:52:21
Speaker 1: It looked like the creature was just kind of toying with him, though.
00:52:24
Speaker 2: He was, but then he also was looking like, yo, what? He was like, why are you not dead, fool? Why do you keep getting up? Right. Yeah. Right. Then he pulled out a knife. He pulled out the knife.
00:52:35
Speaker 1: I swear, despite my garage. If this thing didn't remind me of Pinky from Friday, bro. Stop doing that shit. When he got up, he was talking shit to him.
00:52:48
Speaker 2: Oh, that. And he was like, oh, yeah, come get it, come get it. And then he was like, god damn this motherfucker. He kept walking around.
00:52:54
Speaker 1: I was like, all right. Well, he said, we're going to get it to you. He's like, that's what you get for messing with Earth. But he didn't want no parts of it.
00:53:01
Speaker 2: That was fun. Oh, my goodness.
00:53:03
Speaker 1: And then it just kept smacking him. He kept getting up. So that just kind of became the bit within itself. And then it was finally going to kill him, and that's when they came up and shot it. And hit it with the grenade launcher. And I thought they killed it at this point again. But that's when he was like, nah, it doesn't die. He jumped on the horse, and then he's traveling with the horse.
00:53:25
Speaker 2: And.
00:53:26
Speaker 1: They run to go get the car. The dude was about to take off and leave.
00:53:33
Speaker 2: He tried to lie. He said, I was turning around for you. You lying motherfucker. You lying bastard. He was out of there, right? Yeah, he was. I was turning around. Man, that was funny. He was bullshitting. All right, I'm going. Oh, shit.
00:53:53
Speaker 1: But this old chase on the horse, because he said, he said, he said, because he was chasing a horse, and the guy that was driving the car, he was like, man, how can you ride.
00:54:04
Speaker 2: A horse that good? That was funny, too. And he was like, shut up. We tried to chase him. He was like, yeah, but he is, though. That was funny, yo. Because I was thinking the same thing. I was like, how he got this horse going this fast, bro? Oh, man. That's funny.
00:54:24
Speaker 1: But all of this was, because that thing was moving. I don't know how it didn't catch. Oh, it did catch him, but that's when it came back later. I don't know if you guys noticed, every time it tried to bite him, it was repelled from the horse.
00:54:41
Speaker 4: Mm-mm.
00:54:41
Speaker 2: Yeah. What now?
00:54:42
Speaker 1: Every time the creature, because it caught him and.
00:54:47
Speaker 2: The horse like three or four times. Mm-mm.
00:54:50
Speaker 1: And every time he tried to jump to bite him off the horse or to get the horse, it repelled off the horse and started falling to the side. And then it would get back up and start chasing him again.
00:55:01
Speaker 2: Yep, yep, yep.
00:55:04
Speaker 1: Because remember, they said earlier, why didn't they eat the horses? Now, how did they eat the other guy on the horse?
00:55:08
Speaker 2: I don't know. But either way it go.
00:55:12
Speaker 1: He would get to the horse, he'll jump up to get him, and then he'll tumble over to the side.
00:55:17
Speaker 2: I thought it was just clumsy or something. They were all kind of clumsy.
00:55:20
Speaker 1: I didn't put it all together yet. That's what I think was happening because I'm like, oh, man, they got my boy. Because at this point, this.
00:55:26
Speaker 2: Is my guy. Yeah, he's my guy, bro.
00:55:30
Speaker 1: So I was like, man, they're going to kill my dude. But, yeah, so he managed to evade them, and then that's when we get them catching up to him.
00:55:39
Speaker 2: And they're trying to get him into this car. If this wasn't one of the most. How? How?
00:55:48
Speaker 3: This was intense, too, because especially when he was getting close and he was still trying to pull.
00:55:53
Speaker 2: Him in there. Oh, my God. He was like, jump, jump.
00:55:57
Speaker 1: This was the craziest movie, man.
00:55:59
Speaker 2: This shit was wild.
00:56:01
Speaker 1: Yeah, they were like, shoot, shoot. So every time he would get close, they would shoot. And he's trying to get there. He got the foot and all this other stuff. And then he realized that he could just, he saw something with a grenade launcher. And he was like, give me that grenade launcher. Give me the gun. And this thing jumped. And then he shot it.
00:56:19
Speaker 2: In the mouth. Yeah. Which I was like, oh, he got him. It's dead. It's not.
00:56:27
Speaker 1: But then again, they're celebrating again. And he was like, man, they're still talking like. How is he so good at shooting?
00:56:34
Speaker 2: Right. You're a rock star. Yeah. That's so hot. I love you. Oh, my God. Oh, but man, oh, man. What's the name of that movie? Redditor. Yeah. This next scene, bro. I knew something was going to get him. My father was going to be a monster. Yeah, I did too. And they kept toying with it. They kept toying with it. But you knew something was going to happen. You did. But that's what's so good about it because you didn't think it was going to be that. It is just like, he was just like. Why did you turn? He asked, he said, did you, did you swear? He's like, yeah. Why? It was a cat or something. It was a cat that ran out. I was like, what is this movie? And you weren't about a cat. I love cats. I'd run a cat over in this moment. I was like, what just happened? I don't even know if he was telling the truth. I don't think he was. He was lying, right? I don't think he was. He was hating. That's what made it funny. Oh, is that why he did it? I thought he was just hating. He was just hating, bro. I thought he was just a dumbass. I never thought that he was hating on the dude that killed him on purpose. Oh, man. I was like, yo, he did all that work to survive.
00:57:59
Speaker 1: He got killed by a goddamn pole.
00:58:02
Speaker 2: Bro, got taken off by a pole.
00:58:04
Speaker 1: Oh, man.
00:58:04
Speaker 2: This movie is crazy. And the thing wasn't dead. It got right back up. I know it wasn't dead. Yeah, like, what? So I'm trying to think, like, why did the other thing die from the truck hit? But this thing got— I don't know if it's dead, right? It's dead. Well, it has to be because it cut over, right? I think the Optimus Prime one and the thing with all the antlers, those are like the big dogs. The alphas. The alphas. And those other ones, they're just like slaves. Mm-hmm. I think that's why they look black.
00:58:33
Speaker 1: I thought the green one, because the green one got shot up too. But it lived.
00:58:38
Speaker 2: Yeah, it lived.
00:58:39
Speaker 1: I thought that was like a family member. I thought this was a family. Because they were looking for... They were looking.
00:58:47
Speaker 2: For the blue one's son. Yeah, the antlers. Yeah, but the prime one said your kid. The prime one didn't say our kid. You're right. You're right. It sure did say that. But I think those things with the dreadlocks and stuff, I think those are just like minions or like underlings.
00:59:06
Speaker 1: Sent out to go find the kid on behalf of the antler one.
00:59:09
Speaker 4: Maybe.
00:59:10
Speaker 2: Possibly. But then it was sad, though, about something. It was sad because it was looking for its own child, they said.
00:59:16
Speaker 1: Okay, so it's possible that there's another child somewhere.
00:59:22
Speaker 2: Yes. There's a child that the blue one is still looking for.
00:59:29
Speaker 1: Okay, because I was thinking, man, if they find out that this child is dead, we didn't know what's going to happen.
00:59:34
Speaker 2: No, I think that child belonged to the young Thug Monster. Which adds on a whole other layer to this movie.
00:59:46
Speaker 1: But yeah, so at this point, we went from not hearing them talk to hearing them talk, not knowing what they're saying, to now adding a translation for us to see When the ship comes out of the sky, I'm like, what in the world?
01:00:02
Speaker 2: Yeah, that was wild. Where are we going? Yeah.
01:00:07
Speaker 1: I didn't expect that.
01:00:08
Speaker 2: At first, I was mad because I was like, man, this goddamn theater is fucked up because they're not showing us the subtitle for the fucking aliens. I didn't realize they were doing it on purpose until they started talking to each other at the end. Because when the Transformer one stood up and was just talking to the dude, I'm like, are we supposed to know what he's saying? Right. But, nah, this end part was like, what in the fuck is going on? He pulled out the fucking, just like Prime, pulled out the Matrix. Yep. And was like, I'm about to resurrect your kid. And I'm like, what is happening? What is this? I thought I was lost.
01:00:42
Speaker 1: I thought y'all was going to be able to tell me what happened.
01:00:46
Speaker 2: See, I thought in this moment, I was like, this is like a part two. There's some shit we haven't seen. Some Greek mythology. Yeah, I was like, I figured there has to be some kind of other Korean movie that was the beginning because they were just acting like we're supposed to know who Gerard is and why there's a ship crashing. I was like, oh, okay, so there's some other movie I haven't seen yet. All right, cool.
01:01:12
Speaker 1: So it wasn't just me, because I was totally like, all right, so there's missing pieces all over.
01:01:16
Speaker 2: Oh, yes. They didn't explain shit.
01:01:18
Speaker 1: Did I miss something? Okay, so there's got to be some type of prerequisite. Yeah, Carl's ship crashed. Yeah, who knows that? I don't know, but apparently they all did.
01:01:29
Speaker 2: Yeah.
01:01:30
Speaker 3: I just took it that they were, like, I guess any other movie like this, they're looking for a planet.
01:01:39
Speaker 2: To start habitation.
01:01:44
Speaker 1: Why would they make us figure that out, though? Why not just tell us?
01:01:47
Speaker 2: I feel like that's what they were kind of telling us, though. That's what I kind of feel like.
01:01:51
Speaker 3: And they were basically there to kind of scout it out or whatnot to try to figure out, okay, can we live here?
01:01:59
Speaker 2: Is this a place where we can live? See, I didn't get that. What did you think it was? I have no idea. I still don't know. Because when the other ship was crashing, I couldn't tell if that was homies or if that was, like, the enemy that was crashing. I still don't know. And they kept saying, well, that's so-and-so's ship. And then they jumped back to, we gotta go find your kid. They never really said or implied to me that they were looking for a planet to inhabitate. Well, they were sad.
01:02:29
Speaker 3: So I feel like something was going on wherever they're from. They all got on the ship and were trying to find a new home. It's what I kind of felt like.
01:02:39
Speaker 2: And then when they.
01:02:40
Speaker 1: Started crashing, I guess they were just sad about it.
01:02:45
Speaker 2: See, I would think that only because it reminds me of Transformers. Right, right. They didn't, I don't have a problem with this, but they definitely didn't give me enough to think that they were just on Earth because they wanted to find a place to live because they definitely showed that they were not the same as those dreadlocked ones. And they definitely showed that they were not there peacefully. I don't know if they showed that they weren't there peacefully. Yeah. I don't know that either.
01:03:17
Speaker 1: What?
01:03:18
Speaker 2: Yeah.
01:03:18
Speaker 3: Because you didn't never, I never saw them like invading the town. It was just like, we had to assume that one was looking for his child.
01:03:27
Speaker 2: The young prince. The blue one. Maveo and Jar. Jar, I think, with the antlers is the blue one. Okay. They are definitely not peaceful. Because when motherfucker shot at Prime, Prime didn't really shoot back. He was just like, I'm here in peace. Y'all chill. These things, all it took was a couple of shots, and they're like, oh, I'm destroying everybody. They'll defend themselves. They weren't defending themselves at that point. They were chasing them down. Think about it, though.
01:03:56
Speaker 1: But then why did they kill the cows, like Mike said?
01:03:59
Speaker 2: Yeah, that's not peaceful. I think that was the other ones, though. They didn't eat them. They didn't eat them. That was the whole point.
01:04:03
Speaker 1: They were very specific about them saying they didn't eat them.
01:04:04
Speaker 2: Right. Yeah, I don't know. Exactly. I just didn't, I don't know. I didn't see them as, I didn't see them like that. I saw them as motherfuckers that came here and they were just like, these little humans don't matter. We got bigger shit going on. Yeah. No, go ahead. Go ahead.
01:04:22
Speaker 3: And see, I kind of looked at that the spear ship as like almost like Noah's Ark because like it's almost like it had different species on it. It's like, what is all that? It goes deep or whatever. What is all this stuff in there? And so I thought, like, maybe they just brought a bunch of different species from whatever planet they were from and were trying to see if they could survive on Earth.
01:04:47
Speaker 1: That's how I kind of saw it.
01:04:49
Speaker 3: I know they didn't explain it that way, but those are the context clues that I kind of used. Like, okay, you got this little dog looking thing. You got all these different ones that look, all these creatures that look different. It feels like a Noah's Ark situation where you're just pulling different animals and species on one thing to bring them to this planet.
01:05:09
Speaker 2: There's a bunch of those things, though. There's a bunch of those dreadlock ones. It wasn't just like two or three. I understand it may not be just like Noah's Ark. Yeah, but those are slaves. I guarantee. Because those look dirty. They look dirty. Those things look filthy and jacked up. And those are the ones that the old man saw. Yes. Yeah. All of those things look dirty compared to the blue one and the Optimus Prime one.
01:05:31
Speaker 1: They said he attacked a bear cave. Yeah, they went after the bear because he thought it was going to... For some reason, they went after the bear. They don't like bears because the bear face was in the ground, so they got an issue with bears for some reason.
01:05:41
Speaker 2: Yeah, they didn't explain anything. They buried the bear. Yeah. Help the bear!
01:05:47
Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know, man. Yeah, I don't know. I'm happy being confused. But that's my explanation. That's the only thing that kind of made sense to me.
01:05:54
Speaker 1: They seemed sad when Carl's, and I can't say his name, but I'm just going.
01:05:58
Speaker 2: To call it Carl's ship crashed. Right, yeah. So it seemed like they were sad. They were like, oh, my God, what are we going to do?
01:06:04
Speaker 1: But it also seemed like, oh, well, too bad. I need to go find, I'm going to help you find the young prince.
01:06:10
Speaker 2: So I don't know.
01:06:12
Speaker 1: I honestly don't know. It's clear that they're trying to set up a franchise.
01:06:16
Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
01:06:17
Speaker 2: James sent a note from the director. It's long. Y'all want to read it? Sure, go ahead.
01:06:21
Speaker 1: All right, the original plot for this film was initially three times longer than what you see on the screen today. Initially, I did think of making this into one movie, but I realized that it may be too long. In the complete version of the story, after where this current version of the movie ends, this is where the alien stories really start. And this is where the role of the aliens become really prominent. I think that's why the actors were generally positive about saying yes to the role. After the story of this movie ends is when the night falls and the complete story will end before the night ends. But we also will have a show, a little bit of the backstory, which takes place in space.
01:07:00
Speaker 2: Right. So there is. So I feel like that. Yeah.
01:07:04
Speaker 3: There was something going on in space with their planet. And so they're trying to find a new planet to come to. Yeah, he'll probably get a second. I'm sure he'll get a second movie. I'm sure they already greenlit it before they rolled this one out. Did it do well?
01:07:21
Speaker 2: You think? Did it do well? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't know if it's doing well.
01:07:27
Speaker 1: Budget's 46 mil. Box office is 41.6. So it looks like it'll make budget. If you make budget, then they should get a sequel.
01:07:39
Speaker 2: We going to discover, I'm telling y'all right now, put my word on it. We going to discover that these are bad guys. I don't think they are. We going to discover it. Cause like when she's saying, or when, when the prime guy was saying the young Prince, these are royalty in compared to those, those dreadlock ones. They weren't even concerned about the fact that they just killed the dreadlock ones. They weren't even worried about that. They're worried about whatever their mission is. We need to go find the young Prince and, And then go figure out what's going on with Carl's ship. Yeah. Could it be that Maveo is some sort of security? Which one's Maveo? The big, the dog one. The Transformer one? Yeah.
01:08:20
Speaker 1: Like, he could be, if Jarr, J-A-R, whatever, however you say it, it's J-A-U-R, I think is how it showed up on screen. If she's, like, the queen, and he's, like, just some sort of... security for him to protect the young prince and and her which is probably why he was as ruthless as he was or because he can't be the king no yeah you're talking about the dude who pulled his heart.
01:08:49
Speaker 2: Out yeah but why would he he pulled his heart out and was saying something about like how his heart had power to like resurrect Yeah, you're right. You're right. I have like if these things are supposed to be the good guys, they would not be behaving the way they are. Because defending yourself. When the car was leaving, they would just let it go. He was out to kill. And she was too. And that green one that got shot. They were all trying to wipe these people out. So if they give us a part two and they seriously try to make it seem like, oh, these were just good guys, that's going to be really weird. And the writing for this has been too good for that to make sense.
01:09:32
Speaker 1: So the young thug ones were there to scout.
01:09:39
Speaker 2: I don't think so. And Well, I'm trying to piece together. I think they just got out when that ship crashed. So you think they were part of the ship, the ball ship? I think they were in that ball. I think everything that's on the planet now is in that ball. Yeah, for sure. Remember how the slave ships came and we were all in the bottom?
01:09:56
Speaker 1: That's where them motherfuckers were.
01:09:57
Speaker 2: And the dog was there to keep them in line. Yeah. The dog was the slave master. Yeah, the dog did all the shit to do. They did. They did. You're right. But maybe we are, though. Maybe we are, though. Stay woke. Stay woke. Did you catch that weird, almost Christian stuff at the end? So what did that mean?
01:10:17
Speaker 3: So with that, I just felt like there was time in the title of the movie, the whole hope thing or whatever, which is why I think hope and faith can kind of be the same.
01:10:30
Speaker 2: But it was almost a direct Bible quote.
01:10:33
Speaker 1: It almost was a direct Bible quote.
01:10:34
Speaker 2: I can't think of it. It's like, faith is the evidence that things hope for. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That was weird. Yeah. It was like almost a direct Bible quote. So it's like, what the hell is this? Yeah. I just look at it as... Oh, that's why you think they're good guys.
01:10:48
Speaker 3: That's not exactly why, but it's just the tone of them just seemed... It didn't seem like villainous to me. But yeah, that's kind of how I took the whole title, them talking about faith and hope. And, like, even though they saw the destruction of the ship, they were keeping the faith that, you know, that they still will be able to carry on. Same thing with the town. They were keeping hope alive and faith alive. That's why they were just so relentless.
01:11:17
Speaker 2: I was just called hope because the town was called hope.
01:11:20
Speaker 1: I mean, the town is called hope.
01:11:22
Speaker 3: But when you start adding those different elements in it, it's just like, you know, things are going to be all right.
01:11:26
Speaker 2: I don't want to wait. three years for part two. I really don't.
01:11:30
Speaker 1: Hell, it took them 10 years to do this one. So it may take them just as long.
01:11:35
Speaker 2: They can't do that to us. Yeah. Their first step needs to be give these fools some money. Right. Let them go back and fix the CGI and then do a re-release and then give us part two with a bigger budget. They cannot make us wait. Because the way this shit ended, I was like, what? Yeah. Are you serious? I did not expect it to end like this. Me either. I did not expect it to end like this. I did because I kept looking at my time. Because I was like... Yeah. For a two hour and 40 minute movie, I was looking at my time being like, no, there's only 30 minutes left. There's only 30. You can't do this to me. Like, make this make sense.
01:12:08
Speaker 1: It's kind of crazy. This ended like part two was done already.
01:12:12
Speaker 2: It did. And it's about to come out in the fall. It did. It had like Star Wars, like the original New Hope feels like, oh, this is done. Don't worry. Next year, you'll get part two.
01:12:24
Speaker 1: I'm kind of with Rod. I don't know if they're necessarily bad guys, but I.
01:12:30
Speaker 2: Can't rule it out because they were aggressive.
01:12:35
Speaker 1: Especially if they lured them into the trap. However, they did fire first.
01:12:40
Speaker 2: They did.
01:12:41
Speaker 3: They got on their ship. They had weapons. I mean, yeah. They're defending their colony.
01:12:50
Speaker 2: They chased these motherfuckers down. I get you don't want to chase them. Because they were on their ship. He threw them into trees for 10 minutes. Shouldn't have been on my ship, bro. He shouldn't have. You're right. You trust me. I'm standing my ground. I get all that. But if they're going to try to make it like these were just good guys trying to come to Earth and y'all attack first, that's going to be a hard sell.
01:13:12
Speaker 3: I'm not saying that they're good all the way. I think they will do what they need to do to make spells work. space for themselves, like kill off bears, kill off things that would harm them, right? So that's what it seems like. They went after the things that would harm them, like bears and things. And let's get rid of that.
01:13:29
Speaker 2: Cows, though?
01:13:30
Speaker 1: I don't know about the cows.
01:13:31
Speaker 2: Like, yeah. So they intentionally killed cows? Yeah. They killed multiple cows. And then they specifically said they didn't eat them. Yeah, the cows had slashes on them. Why did they kill the cows? And they didn't even kill all the cows. It was like they just killed the cows that looked at them funny. They alerted them to milk. Right? Lactose intolerant aliens.
01:13:47
Speaker 1: Yeah, in the city when Bum was running through. He spooked that one cow. When he ran by that cow.
01:13:53
Speaker 2: Yeah, I would too. I'd be spooked too. He was lucky to be alive. But, yeah. So, I don't know.
01:14:00
Speaker 1: But I like it. I'm with you. I would love to know when the next one is going to release.
01:14:06
Speaker 2: Yeah, me too.
01:14:07
Speaker 1: I don't know if this could serve as a complete ending to this movie.
01:14:14
Speaker 2: Hell no. No. We don't even know what the beginning of the story is. We have no idea. I got to go back.
01:14:20
Speaker 1: Yeah, like they just dropped us into a timeline.
01:14:21
Speaker 3: Yeah, they dropped us into a timeline. They literally did. Because like, yeah.
01:14:25
Speaker 1: Enjoy this little part of the story right here.
01:14:27
Speaker 2: It's interesting. But there's more to it. I don't like they did it that way, though. I do, too. We kind of made the movie a little bit. It's rare you can do that. Like, it takes really good writing. To drop you into a movie like this or a story like this that makes no sense.
01:14:39
Speaker 1: And no beginning.
01:14:40
Speaker 2: And then just cut it off. No beginning, no resolution. Exactly. Just here. Right. And you're happy about it. You're like, damn, that was awesome. It's completely fine. What happened? I don't know. I met with my girl afterwards and she was like, so what did you think of the movie? I was like, I loved it, but I have no idea what I just watched. For three hours, I have no clue. And you know there's supposed to be a, I didn't see it. but apparently it's a post-credit scene. Yeah. That's all, yeah. Oh, so the dude is still alive. Yeah, he's still alive, bro. That's ridiculous. I didn't see it. Everybody clapped at my movie when it happened. That's ridiculous. He the guy, man.
01:15:10
Speaker 3: He was limping down the street. It was funny. And it says Hope when he posts it. I'm glad I missed it.
01:15:16
Speaker 2: It was perfect. It was. Oh, man, I missed it.
01:15:18
Speaker 1: Especially the way they did it, because it kind of almost faded into view, because you see the road, and you don't know what's going on, but it looks like an end credits.
01:15:27
Speaker 2: And then that's the end credits.
01:15:30
Speaker 1: And like no one really was expecting I don't even know why the fuck I saw it I just sit there for a minute I was on my phone I always.
01:15:36
Speaker 2: Look it up now And I was just walking out I didn't think to Yeah I always look it up now.
01:15:39
Speaker 1: I had something to do with it But I just was like Nah there's no post credit for this one That's why I didn't even think about it I just happened to be like you Still there That's hilarious man And I was like Wait is this gonna be a mid credit scene And then when it was coming I was like My guy's still alive bro Exactly Yeah they come putting him out like that bro Yeah.
01:15:55
Speaker 3: And I get after I feel like they played on the hope thing again Like, to keep the hope alive or whatever. Like, yeah, because we thought he was dead.
01:16:04
Speaker 2: So, yeah. Them aliens racist, bro. I don't care what y'all say.
01:16:08
Speaker 1: It's like they had different races themselves, though.
01:16:10
Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying.
01:16:10
Speaker 1: I feel like they brought different people over.
01:16:13
Speaker 2: But they were, like, bougie or whatever. Like, them little slave ones. Yeah. Nah, them motherfuckers racist.
01:16:19
Speaker 1: So, the Protect the Nation from Infiltration, of course, has a double meaning, obviously, from the movie.
01:16:24
Speaker 2: But it is a real-world civil war.
01:16:28
Speaker 1: Defense slogan that is frequently seen on public signs and banners throughout South Korea and in regions bordering the Korean demilitarized zone, which is where this movie took place.
01:16:39
Speaker 2: Interesting. Yeah. I thought it was some weird anti-immigrant stuff or something. Yeah, so that's what we got.
01:16:47
Speaker 1: Anyway, oh yeah, and Hong Jung-min and Hoyoung were in Squid Game.
01:16:56
Speaker 2: Yeah, the girl who's Who's the other one that was in squid game? I don't know. I recognize Asian Bay from, uh, she was like the one that was a kill. Yeah. Okay.
01:17:06
Speaker 1: Yeah.
01:17:07
Speaker 2: She was in squid game, but I didn't recognize another person. Yeah. I'm trying to see. Oh, they had shown me the cast. Uh, you're so hot. Oh God. This movie is so good. Yeah. I'm on the wiki page. Uh, Son Gay? I think that's the rookie cop. No, it can't be him. I don't know. I can't find it. But either way I go.
01:17:34
Speaker 1: Nah, man, this was, yeah, I mess with this film.
01:17:38
Speaker 2: It's a movie theater movie.
01:17:39
Speaker 1: Don't watch it at home, y'all.
01:17:40
Speaker 2: You can't. You have to go to the theater. That forest scene, it was stuck in my head all weekend. It was so good. It was really good. I really hope they fix the CGI, though. Because if the CGI was quality, this is a damn near perfect movie. Mm-hmm. You don't think it added to it a little bit? No. Give it that bad, soft outfit? Only when I thought they were doing it on purpose. When I realized it's like, no, they just ran out of money, I was like, no, that's ridiculous. Go fix it. Just go fix it. Give these fools some money to fix it. And really, it was just honestly like an environment flaw.
01:18:16
Speaker 3: It was too bright. It should have been darker in moments and stuff like that. It didn't match the environment.
01:18:23
Speaker 2: Yeah. They could fix that. That's an easy fix. That's just a coloring fix right there. No, that motherfucker had a big black outline around it. It did, bro. That creature had a big dark... What's that one that had bad CGI? She-Hulk? Yeah, it was like She-Hulk. Oh my goodness, yeah. Yeah. It's amazing that even with that shitty ass CGI, this movie was still great.
01:18:50
Speaker 3: Right so i'm gonna watch it again it was entertaining as a super entertaining yeah yeah officer ken was the one that started with the h i don't know who the other one uh anyway.
01:19:02
Speaker 1: All right um we're rambling now but that has been the movie hope let us know what you guys think about the movie As well, did you enjoy it? What's your theory about the aliens?
01:19:14
Speaker 2: And we'll catch you guys next time. We out. Peace.

01:19:02
