Scott: Thank you. Well you were an EMT before me, Manny.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah, don't put funnels in don't put funnels in in people's mouths. was I? Yeah, I think I was. I became I was a nurse's aide for a coup Yeah, I was a nurse's aide for a couple of years, then I became an EMT in ninety nine, started working in two thousand, and then I met you when was it? Like two thousand two, maybe, two thousand one?
Scott: It's it's paperwork here.
Chris: Yeah.
Medi - Ocre: Might have been like 2001 that we met. ⁓
Scott: Yeah, when I got my EMT and started, you were already a medic in two thousand three.
Chris: So have y'all been partners ever since? Yep.
Scott: He's freezing. ⁓ we actually have only We've only worked a couple shifts together in all the in all the years. Like we worked at AMR back when AMR was in our area. I remember one my first emergent transport was with you and you were like priority two to the BI I'm like, What's priority two mean? And you're like, lights and signs. I like, Cool, where are the lights? And you're like, above your head. I was like, Cool. One more question. Where's the BI? 'Cause we hadn't have GPS back then. So you had to navigate me
Medi - Ocre: ⁓ Yeah, when I Yeah. I remember when I started working as an EMP.
Scott: Yeah, he had to navigate me to Boston while taking care of a critical patient.
Medi - Ocre: We were doing dialysis calls and I said, How come we're n we're driving there? Why aren't we responding to dialysis calls? I d I thought everything I didn't realize we do doctor's appointment visits. I says, We're not you mean we drive? We also can drive this thing without the lights? Wow, that's that's lame.
Scott: Yeah.
Medi - Ocre: I think I had a stethoscope around my neck.
Scott: That's my favorite way to drive now. I hate using the lights and sirens. I'm over it.
Medi - Ocre: ⁓ yeah. I think I had a stethoscope around my neck. I think I had maybe four different pairs of scissors. I don't know, I had stuff I didn't even need, maybe two pen lights. I think I had a flashlight. ⁓ wow, I could only imagine the way I look. ⁓ I didn't do the stethoscope around the ⁓ rear view mirror then.
Scott: You're like Batman as an EMT.
Chris: So you were the rescue random? I gotcha. So so whose idea was this to start the mediocre EMS, by the way? Was it Manny or Scott?
Scott: I think I think it was yours, right, Manny?
Medi - Ocre: I don't know. I think it was both of us.
Chris: Or combined.
Scott: Well we we've both worked making content. Like I went to film school, worked on Hollywood a short time and
Medi - Ocre: I don't remember where the name came from.
Scott: I came up with the name but you came up with the first skit, which was the diabetic one with the funnel.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah, we saw like ⁓ Yeah, I came up with the first one because, you know, we work in a busy system where we see a lot of crazy things. So we figured, you know, everybody takes everything so serious and the healthcare industry's kinda sinking fast. So let's let's try to create some comedy. And I think I yeah, I remember calling Scott and I was like, you know what, let's come on over. I've got a mannequin head set up and I've got s a funnel, a bag of Ms. I've got Doctor Thunder. ⁓ I don't know what else we had. I can't remember what else we had, but I said let's let's Create a diabetic video on a way not to treat a diabetic. I think we did it in one shot, didn't we?
Scott: Yeah, I think we separated each component, but like we just talked about it for a second and then improved it.
Medi - Ocre: I think we did it. Yeah.
Chris: That's impressive.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah, the whole thing was like twenty minutes long. And we were like, we put it on YouTube. Yeah, we put it on YouTube and we I think like a year went by and we might have had four views, two people named Manny and Scott. And then I think we might have looped around from different YouTube channels and two other people named Manny and Scott. So we had four views in a year. So we were blowing up. Like we were like, you know, we were heading towards Mr. Beast. I mean, we were, you know, he was eyeing us saying what four views in a year, so
Scott: Yeah, then I came I was brainstorming names.
Chris: ⁓ cool. ⁓ yeah.
Medi - Ocre: ⁓ but yeah, we did it. And then I think at the I remember at the end of it, we we said that this is not series. The what?
Chris: That's awesome. You know that
Scott: Yeah, then he put Yep. I was gonna say you put the you took the little funnel clip of sixteen seconds and put it on TikTok. I didn't have TikTok, I was like, I don't want that. And then like four hours later he called me, he's like, Dude, it's got like a hundred thousand views already. I'm like, I think we have some so I had to sign up for TikTok and we haven't stopped since
Chris: Hell yeah. That's that's amazing right there. So does it
Medi - Ocre: Yeah, so it's interesting with that. So I was working on a Yeah, so I was working I was at work and I I cut it up, I put it on TikTok at like eight o'clock in the morning. And then yeah, I kept looking and it kept I'm like, Wow, it's got like a hundred thousand views now and then a couple hours later I'm like, Wow, it's got like four hundred thousand views now.
Scott: Yeah.
Chris: Damn. Did y'all ever expect it to blow up like that?
Scott: Yep. Now we're up to bo I had no idea. Now it's up to seventeen million on our channel. And that Dr. Myro guy has shared it a couple times. ⁓ hasn't given us credit by the way, but hey. ⁓ we're not bitter. And between his two shares and ours, it's like forty two million views. So Doctor Myro, if you're watching, we made the video. ⁓ did we lose Manny?
Medi - Ocre: My Yeah.
Chris: That's that yeah, that that's awesome. No, he's there.
Scott: He's still there.
Chris: He must have T Mobile.
Scott: Yeah. Technology, all right? We can talk to a satellite past Pluto but we can talk to a sat a satellite that's way past Pluto, but you know, you try to have a little phone call in your driveway and it doesn't work.
Chris: ⁓ he's gone.
Scott: Technology.
Chris: ⁓ gotta love it. That's that's that's amazing though the call There it goes.
Scott: Yeah, so so Manny's been a medic forever. We did
Chris: Come in.
Medi - Ocre: There. That's weird. Alright, I'm back. Yeah, it kept it kept going up. I don't know what happened, but yeah, it it ended up with like over forty million views.
Chris: I think we lost you there, sir.
Scott: Manny, come back.
Chris: Now I get that song in my head. Baby come back.
Scott: Baby come back. You need a new phone provider.
Medi - Ocre: Can you see me now?
Chris: I see you now. I can't feel you now, but I see you now.
Medi - Ocre: ⁓ Verizon Verizon's the worst. Let me let me go somewhere else here.
Scott: Don't say that, we might want Verizon as a sponsor someday. We love Verizon.
Medi - Ocre: All right. Let me go somewhere else.
Scott: Never insult a future potential sponsor.
Medi - Ocre: I'm gonna go somewhere else.
Chris: I I I miss the old Verizon covers.
Medi - Ocre: bunch of people looking at me. I should go out there as Edna. I should go out all the people do in the street, I should just dress as Edna and ask them if they're almost done.
Chris: This is a big book. That's awesome.
Scott: Right.
Medi - Ocre: That's what I should do. I should go out there with the arms.
Scott: Stick stick it to the front of their truck.
Medi - Ocre: All right. All right. Now I'm connected. I'm connected to Wi Yeah.
Chris: Yeah, now you now you're now we can actually see you moving.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah, I should go out there with one of the arms and I should be like, Hey, if you guys come across another one of these I lost it. I'm not sure where it is. I lost the other one.
Scott: Right. Yeah. Don't ask questions, you'll be implicated.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah. Well I had them I should have pulled out of the driveway. I put both of the arms on my car that day along with the ass and the dildo, kinda like the Duke of New York's car in Escape from New York when he had the chandeliers on each side. I had the arms on each side. I should just pull out of the driveway like that and just drive down with the arms flopping.
Scott: Just a serial killer.
Chris: So Scott, describe Manny in one sentence for me before I lose track of my thoughts.
Scott: ⁓ God, one sentence. Drip well he's dri definitely driven. I always thought that like sometimes he dreams a little big and you gotta rein him back in, but that's an en enduring feature because he he has his eye on the prize at the end, so you gotta kinda pace him a little bit, but we wouldn't be here if it wasn't for that, so ⁓ Yeah, he's got some good ideas. He ⁓ he made the Bridgewater Triangle documentary, so he's ⁓ he's good at what he does as well.
Chris: That's awesome.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah. Yeah, there's some paranormal ⁓ history there. Yeah. Yep. I do acting too. Well I I try. I have like a little acting reel. ⁓ I've done some commercials. If there's anybody listening to this in Rhode Island, I'm in the Rhode Island lottery commercial. I did not win though. I'm just in the commercial. So
Scott: On Amazon.
Chris: Yeah. So manny describes Scott in one sentence.
Medi - Ocre: in one sentence.
Scott: Use the word handsome.
Chris: Yeah.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah. I feel I feel ⁓ euphoria when I'm around him, I guess. Well, I think when we're both together we we come up with some good ideas.
Scott: It's normal.
Chris: Yeah, I th I think y'all y'all are a great team.
Scott: We're definitely on same wavelength. All our stuff is improvised. Like
Medi - Ocre: Yeah, we think of these ideas really, but
Scott: Yeah. We'll show up to shoot on a Sunday morning with nothing planned. With that
Chris: So are y'all on twenty four hour shift or what do y'all work?
Medi - Ocre: Yeah.
Chris: I s I said, what kind of shifts do y'all work realer at?
Medi - Ocre: ⁓ I'll let you answer that one first, 'cause mine's a little different.
Scott: I work mostly overnights 'cause you know I got two little ones so my wife works during the day. She comes home, we high five, and I work bunch of overnights at a private EMS and then ⁓ I also work per DM at a fire department. Just doing the EMS. So we the only time we have to film is Sunday mornings after I get off at twenty four in a busy city. So it's kinda grueling, but we show up at eight in the morning till like eleven and just bang out as much as we can. It's exhausting but
Medi - Ocre: Yeah. Yeah, we we We try to do ⁓ some people think we have a lot of bloopers, but we really don't. We actually just try to bang these out as quick as we can. I mean, there's been a couple of times that we laughed, but we try to bang them out in one shot. ⁓ I guess that's good acting. We don't laugh. Even when I had that suit on, that suit that was five thousand degrees that ⁓
Scott: Exactly.
Chris: We just talked about that earlier before the show.
Scott: Shock suit. Yeah. ⁓
Medi - Ocre: Yeah, the GIMP. The GIMP. You're gonna put that on, Bob. ⁓ I should put that on and ask them. Go out there and ask if they need an extra hand.
Chris: So I'm I'm guessing Manny keeps the the props in his house.
Scott: Right. Yes.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah, everybody wants to know where the stuff comes from. So the stuff comes from Timu. Everybody wants to know. So when you add something to the cart in Timu, it's usually cheap anyways. And when you exit Timu, then they'll send you like a spin wheel. And if you exit that, then they'll send you like six thousand other things. And b before you know it, it's like five bucks. So believe it or not, everything is really cheap. ⁓ because I did go into ⁓ I did go into an adult store looking for the arm. Remember that? I drove all the way to Rhode Island. Yeah, for research. And I went in there looking for the arm. And one of the places I went into had a back room. And there was a guy looking at me going like this. I says, This isn't the right place. This is I think I'm gonna go now. So I went into a couple of other places.
Scott: По ресерч.
Chris: Yeah, no.
Medi - Ocre: And I did find the arm and it was like two hundred dollars and I'm like, no, I'm all I think I'm all set with that. But yeah, I did go looking for it in Rhode Island. But then we found it on Timu and I think ⁓ I think it was like ten bucks and then we ended up getting another one 'cause it was so good.
Chris: Geez. That's awesome. So you know, I I is this a way for y'all to decompress after calls, I guess as well?
Medi - Ocre: Yeah, I don't really so I do all right, so I was working with Scott. I was doing two twenty-fours, and then I left and I joined a union to start doing first aid on movie sets. But then the dual strikes, like the writers and the actors strike, that killed everything. So I said, Well, I need to work again because unemployment can only last for so long. But I got really good at Fortnite though, during unemployment though I got awesome at Fortnite. Playing with kids under ten, but I got good. Not good enough to stream though, but good. But then I started doing the ⁓ community paramedic thing, the mobile integrated health. So that's what I do now. But I do work for an I do work on the ambulance as well, but I do the ⁓ home visits too. So we can do more than a regular paramedic can do. ⁓ you know, so I actually work today and you know, we can do antibiotics and
Chris: Yes, sir.
Medi - Ocre: Git labs and all that. So that's what I do. ⁓ I still do work on movies. You know, I don't ⁓ I just don't really do it right now full time because it's kinda hard.
Scott: Are none.
Chris: Yeah, I would imagine.
Medi - Ocre: You know, but I but I yeah, but I did ⁓ just I did the last movie that I did was ⁓ Supertroopers Three. Yeah.
Chris: ⁓ wow. That's so you've been on some big shows.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah. So I mean they filmed us, you know, doing some crazy stuff at the end that hopefully we'll make the credits. But ⁓ yeah, I worked with those I worked, you know, I was with those guys for twenty nine days. So yeah. And they did see our sketches and they did laugh their ass off. So I didn't say it, they actually one of ⁓
Chris: That's cool.
Scott: That it. Good. I think it does definitely help you decompress. Yeah. Like I don't want to do
Medi - Ocre: Yeah.
Chris: Yeah, ⁓ yeah. Scott, this is my
Scott: Yeah. I think that's it's you need that outlet, you know, like we could have done educational videos, but you know, it gets kinda heavy when you're living and when you work so much, it's just so like I don't wanna think seriously up yeah, right? I don't wanna think seriously about this stuff. I wanna just have fun and laugh, so it's kinda like make what you know. We know e medicine Yeah, there's enough people that do education.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah. Educational very Yeah, I mean educational videos would be tough.
Scott: Yeah, I just wanna laugh and
Medi - Ocre: I mean I d I don't know what the hell I'm talking about anyway, so
Scott: Yeah, the heart is somewhere here. I mean who knows? Just let me make some funny videos and laugh and ⁓ you know.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah. If we did
Chris: As long as you don't put two arms up there, you should be good.
Medi - Ocre: If we did educational videos, they would be interesting though. You know. They would be We would need a teleprompter, that's for sure.
Scott: Yeah. I'd be bored to tears. ⁓ my God. Right.
Chris: Well th there's so many there there's so many other educational video PMS things out there that I think y'all are bringing a a a better honestly a better perspective and a a lot better way that you know, all of us in the field can laugh at. You know, we we all ⁓ correlate to it in the end because it it's it's such s it's just the shit y'all do is is true to
Medi - Ocre: Yeah.
Chris: the shit we see every day, you know, and and that's that's what's funny about it.
Scott: Yeah, I say our stuff
Medi - Ocre: Yeah, our videos are re very educational and Yeah. I mean it
Scott: Yeah, our our stuff is more realistic, I think, to what EMS is like than the shows on you know, like Chicago nine one one. I'm like, that's not real. I've never got on a helicopter 'cause I thought the patient was cute. You know, I'm gonna try that, but you know, the stuff we d we do I think is way more realistic. Like how many times you get pooped on a lot.
Medi - Ocre: ⁓ it definitely is. I mean Doctor Thunder is Doctor Thunder is loaded with sugar. So if you're a diabetic, you know what I mean? It's loaded with sugar and I mean a bag of MMs if you're a diabetic.
Chris: Hey, you got the carbs and you got the sugar right there. See, well done.
Scott: Right.
Medi - Ocre: That's right. So very realistic the things that we ⁓ you know, the things that we do. We we defibrillated somebody with ⁓ jumper cables. That's you know that's ⁓ you know, they turned into a skeleton though, so might have been too many jewels.
Scott: I've never seen a study that said that won't work. So I don't know.
Medi - Ocre: Right, yeah. Prove to us that it doesn't work, you know? What was it? What was the quote we said? ⁓ red to dead. ⁓ red to dead. What was it? I can't remember. Red to dead.
Scott: Right. Exactly.
Chris: One. Good point.
Scott: ⁓ Lack of something, I know. It was a while ago.
Medi - Ocre: I can't remember. Yeah. Yeah.
Scott: Can't remember any of Memory's fried.
Medi - Ocre: ⁓ ⁓ But we think of these ideas. Sometimes we think of them during the week and ⁓ you know, then we'll just kinda maybe brush brush them up. Like we gotta we we we are, I don't know if we didn't mention this, but we are actually gonna buy an ambulance. Not a forty-five thousand dollar one, but we are gonna buy one from Facebook Marketplace. We actually have enough now. ⁓ and what we're gonna do is we're gonna rig it with some GoPros and stuff. Cause we've already
Chris: Really?
Medi - Ocre: We already have some ideas, but we need an ambulance to do them. But I mean, you can find one on Facebook marketplace for a couple of grand. And we don't we're not yeah, we're not gonna ever use it like realistically for an ambulance company. So I mean we're literally gonna probably spray paint it and paint it with paintbrushes and stuff. So, you know. Yeah.
Chris: That's awesome. ⁓ yeah. Yeah. I I It works. I mean
Scott: Do parades and touch a trucks, that would be fun. Right? It's free advertising, just drive that around.
Chris: Hey hey Rabbats a big big Martigra town, so
Medi - Ocre: Yeah. Yeah.
Scott: Yeah.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah. Yeah. All the equipment will be the supply room equipment. So, you know, when people open up, you know, everything, all the stuff will be in the cabinets for everybody to look at, you know.
Scott: Some harbor freight tools for whatever.
Chris: Y you know you
Medi - Ocre: Yeah.
Chris: That's that's that's that's awesome. That I mean, I I think it's amazing that y'all are again doing this a and y'all are able to build as much as you are on top of it. You know, like you said earlier, y'all started small and all of a sudden blew up. That that's awesome. You know.
Scott: And it's funny 'cause like the videos we don't think
Medi - Ocre: Yeah, my phone, ⁓ yeah.
Scott: Yeah, the videos we don't think are gonna do well blow up. Like I posted a video with one of those fake arms, was that like a ⁓ two months ago? Where literally I just had it on the wall and I put a microphone over it so it's like holding it. It did nothing for like two months and then yesterday it went viral and it's got three hundred thousand views since yesterday afternoon. There's like no rhyme or reason, but the things we spend time on bomb.
Medi - Ocre: ⁓ I know. Yeah.
Chris: Damn.
Scott: Right, like the music video.
Chris: That sounds about right.
Medi - Ocre: ⁓ yeah, we ⁓ the music video went nowhere. ⁓ it's it's we spend so much time on it. There was so much time and so much effort. Even Bob is in it. He's he you know, he's even he's even dancing in it and it went nowhere. ⁓ yeah. I think so, yeah. Us. That's it. Us.
Chris: I haven't seen that one yet. I gotta look that one up now.
Scott: Yeah. Song of Buddy Bola.
Chris: It sucks.
Scott: Got like three views.
Chris: ⁓ wow.
Scott: Yeah. I think we I think we overthink things sometimes, you know, like everything we plan out usually bombs and we're like so proud of it and it does nothing. But then the like throwaway video that we make, like, ⁓ this is a dumb idea, let's just film it blows up, you know. That's TikTok mentality for ya.
Chris: You know. Makes sense. Yeah, that that that actually I was kinda curious on how y'all feel about these TikTok medics that keep popping up.
Scott: Yeah.
Medi - Ocre: ⁓ there's tons of them. Yeah. ⁓ there's tons, yeah. Every other post we ⁓ there's a couple of them that are from Massachusetts that we see. ⁓
Chris: Yeah, no. I know I know a few of ⁓ but I've actually worked with two of at a company I worked at.
Scott: Nice. We talked to you know a handful like salty paramedic has shouted us out. I've talked to Badge who's awesome. Redbeard the medic, one of my favorites. That guy's awesome. So yeah, so met some cool people doing this.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah, ⁓
Chris: He's awesome.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah, Firehouse Chronicles is is pops up a lot.
Chris: Yeah, I've been trying to get him on for a while too. He's he's busy.
Scott: He's gotta be a busy dude there.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah, he pops up he pops up. Yeah.
Chris: So
Medi - Ocre: I know, I know. I know.
Chris: What do y'all two think is the most overrated EMS tradition?
Scott: Jeez. Lights and sirens for everything. I don't know how it works near you, but like if we have a broken toe, we respond to the hospital, you know. I'm I know it's 'cause, you know, you gotta clear up fast, but like I think lights and sirens, the stair chair, I hate the stair chair. I think that's overrated.
Chris: Yes. Unless it's battery powered.
Scott: You know, I have a permanent injury from a stairchair, broke my ankle and my foot, stair chairing a guy that was walking around the house before we were told to stair chair him. I'm like I understand if you have chest pain, shortness of breath, all that stuff, sure. But not everybody needs a stairchair.
Chris: So you broke your ankle taking a guy that could walk down the stairs with a stair chair.
Scott: Yep, he was walking around up s upstairs and then they call for the chair and we're bringing him down and the last step he did the whole jerk forward and pulled us forward. So instead of my foot landing like this, it landed like this. And my pinky toe side touched the side of my leg and broke a whole bunch of stuff, still hurts to this day. That was like three years ago. It's never gonna get better, but
Medi - Ocre: Yeah.
Chris: That's not fun.
Scott: That is the stair chair. I hate it. It should go the way of ⁓ the way of masked trousers.
Chris: That sucks.
Medi - Ocre: We have those.
Chris: Y'all still have those?
Medi - Ocre: No, in the video we have those. Yeah. Yeah. It's a little different though.
Chris: ⁓ yeah.
Scott: The shock suit. Yeah, it's a little different, right? Or the CAD.
Chris: I thought you got so terrible, I'm like, what the hell?
Scott: Yeah. Do you g you guys don't have those, right, where you are?
Medi - Ocre: Yeah, we don't have a cat. We gotta get a cat.
Chris: No, no, no.
Scott: We brought somebody the other night Yeah. We transported somebody the other night with a traction splint on. I'm like God I haven't seen that thing for ten years and the hospital put them on a traction splint. I'm like, how does that work again?
Chris: I did have ⁓ off shore and I was trying to figure out why, but I think mine's dusty. Last time I pulled it out it had dust all over it.
Scott: Yeah, right. I know the bag's in the truck, I assume the things in there.
Medi - Ocre: I remember doing a transfer with somebody. Years ago, I did a transfer with somebody that was driving pretty crazy to Boston and they had a traction splint on the patient. And this person that I was working with was driving so crazy that the bolts became loose on the traction splint. Yeah. Yeah. They were going up the highway and they went in the median. Yeah.
Chris: Wow. Talk about a bad fucking memory.
Scott: Mm-hmm.
Medi - Ocre: And so we were like it was like Grand Theft Auto. Yeah. Yeah. So the bolts came out, the screws came out, yeah.
Scott: Awesome. It wasn't me.
Chris: Jeez.
Medi - Ocre: No no, know who it was though, but it wasn't you.
Scott: Yeah.
Chris: It wasn't me. Normally that normally when someone says that, Scott, it is them. Come on now.
Scott: Right, I'm I'm guilty of a lot of things. It was that wasn't it. I do my own stupid things, for sure.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah.
Chris: Do you do your own stunts though? Do you do your own stunts?
Scott: Like have you used a CED? That's true, I do. Getting too old for it, but yeah. Do you use it at all or?
Chris: Yes. Yeah yes, I have. Yeah. Yeah, I've actually used them to ⁓ I you I like using them to extricate out of cars.
Scott: Yeah. Really? I think I've used it once and I use it as a pediatric longboard 'cause we don't have P D boards to immobilize a a a kid. I don't think I've ever used it other in my twenty years or whatever of
Chris: It worked.
Scott: Maybe we should be edit that part out, I guess. Nobody listen to that.
Chris: I've used it quite a few times actually.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah, maybe we should maybe we should be using it.
Chris: Well, like I said, I like using them on Rex. To me, it's easier than a backboard to be able to get the patient out. I don't you know, that's all I do it for is put ⁓ on the ba put ⁓ on the stretcher, take the damn thing off and I'm done with it, but you know.
Scott: Right. Yeah. You still have to backboard everybody.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah, maybe we should. Do you guys use a stretcher up here? Yeah, we don't use a stretcher down here.
Scott: Peter.
Chris: Y'all don't use a stretcher down there.
Medi - Ocre: We don't use a stretcher down here, so we
Scott: We attach ⁓ to drones and they fly.
Chris: Okay, well that works. I mean ⁓ ⁓ you lucky bastards. I've heard about them patient taking drones.
Scott: Yeah. Technology. Like do you still board everybody in in car accidents where you are? 'Cause we used to do that and now we don't board anybody. No, good. So that's a nationwide thing where they kinda got rid of that?
Chris: Nope. Nope. I believe so. I know we were getting away from it about a year and a half ago is when we started looking into it lot more. And I've I've never I've never been a fan of them. I I really haven't.
Scott: Yeah. Made things so much easier. Yeah.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah. Yeah, I know.
Scott: I don't think they do much, yeah.
Chris: But also being on one of them kinda made me not a fan of them, so
Scott: Yeah. Slightly uncomfortable.
Chris: It's it's like me, I don't like giving my patients ketamine because I went through the K hole whenever I broke my foot and the medic gave me the wrong dosage.
Scott: ⁓ boy. How'd that go?
Medi - Ocre: ⁓ my god.
Chris: So I don't like ketamine giving it if you're psychotic, yeah, I'll give you some ketamine, but I'm not giving it for pain.
Scott: Yep. We don't carry ketamine. Do you guys have ketamine? I don't.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah, we have that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, we have it ⁓ up there. Yeah. Maybe aspirin.
Scott: We have Tyle. Right. Do some yoga.
Chris: You'll have cord all where y'all are.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah, we have tordol. We do. I have ⁓ I have other stuff too and when I do the community paramedic stuff I have another pelican case that has ⁓ that has like antibiotics in it and everything too. So I have a lot more.
Scott: Stored all yeah.
Chris: I gotcha. that's what I miss about offshore is my my wider scope i is I was able to give prescriptions and sutures and all that and now I'm back on the truck and it's like I I feel like a little baby again.
Scott: I was offshore, is that good?
Medi - Ocre: ⁓ yeah.
Chris: ⁓ it's it's interesting to say the least. ⁓ I I had quite a few ⁓ interesting cases. I ⁓ I had one that he came to me with nausea vomiting diarrhea. I thought he was just sick. ⁓ wound up treating his nausea vomiting diarrhea and then he got blocked backed up to where he had to have bowel surgery and having I think it was three to six feet of bowel resected. So That that was fun. I was like, it was just coming out, what happened? It's been twenty four hours. You shouldn't be this backed up that that fast.
Medi - Ocre: Wow.
Scott: Right. That's a crappy call.
Medi - Ocre: God, diarrhea. I remember the day. I don't want diarrhea. I that explosive diarrhea that's going around. I don't want that.
Chris: I've heard it's fun. It's it's it's all the it's all the talk now. Come on now.
Scott: You lose a lot of weight. I think it's fine.
Medi - Ocre: Well I remember the day that I got norovirus. Yeah, norovirus is the worst. Have you ever Yeah, I mean I remember I had that and then Scott got it. I remember when I had it, I was gonna see if I could go to the hospital and get euthanized to see if they could maybe do it for me. 'Cause I I felt like I was dead. I think Scott passed out, I think. ⁓ didn't you pass?
Scott: ⁓ yeah, I passed it on the toilet. Fun fact. I was doing the circle dance, you know, you don't know if you're gonna throw up or the other. So you're sitting there like, What should I do first? Choose wisely.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah, I thought it was food poisoning. Wasn't food poisoning. I thought that's you know, it's initially I thought it might have been food poisoning because it came on so quick. ⁓ it was like bam. Yeah, it was brutal. I've never been that sick before. ⁓ We have a lot of
Scott: Yeah. Brutal. I almost had abs for like a day after, so it was great.
Chris: That's awesome.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah, you lose a lot of weight. We we have a lot of patients in the community paramedic, the MIH that have that they because they need fluid. So
Scott: Yeah.
Chris: Yeah, I w I wanted to get that, but there this ass backward state that I'm in, ⁓ doesn't really recognize community paramedics. Yeah.
Medi - Ocre: ⁓ really?
Chris: It it's I again I'm in Alabama, so if they're they're asked backwards.
Scott: took ours a while too, right? I mean so maybe you'll get it eventually.
Medi - Ocre: Weird. Yeah, 'cause there's the community paramedic and then there's the hospital at home program, which ours, yeah. They're pretty much the same thing. ⁓ you know, one is more that you're admitted at home, so you can't leave versus the other one, the MIH, where it's you can go there in the morning, give somebody an antibiotic and they can leave and go to work. You know, they're not they're not an inpatient anymore, but the hospital at home program is ⁓
Chris: ⁓ that's cool.
Medi - Ocre: It's more like you're still in the hospital, so you can't just you can't just you don't have to wear a Johnny, but you don't you know, it's like you're still an inpage and ⁓ but we were doing that, I was doing that and the program had shut down. But they still do it here in mass. A couple of places to do it, yeah. People liked it. I mean nobody wants to go to the hospital. So
Chris: That's cool. No, no, yeah. And I I I see it having a I've been seeing it really implemented in Texas lately and and it it's pretty cool how they're doing it over there as well as ⁓ they a couple of people I've talked to they they kind of do it to where instead of going to the doctor, the MIH goes to them and it it's better for the doctors and the patients in the end.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely. That's what people like. You know, instead of going to the urgent care, we come to them. So I did it today. As a matter of fact.
Scott: ⁓ yeah. Cuts down wait times in the ER.
Chris: Right.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely.
Chris: Yeah. Unless your house is on diversion, you know, hey, then then you know.
Scott: Yeah, right.
Medi - Ocre: I know. I think they're gone now. I think they all took off. They all left. But they'll be back though. I should I should go out there when they come back. I should set the camera up on a tripod and go out there as Edna.
Scott: Keep waving out the window, just like Hi boys.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah. I'll go out there with the fake boobs with the cleavage.
Scott: Disturbing. I don't know if you saw that. That's disturbing.
Medi - Ocre: I'd be like you but you don't mind I'd be like you don't mind if I just sunbathed you and I'll just sit there and spread my legs. I'll use the wig. The wig like we did. I'll put the wig between my legs.
Scott: ⁓ boy.
Chris: Offer them some candy when you're out too. I know it's not you're not you know just just just throwing that out there.
Scott: Yeah right. Want a nice sucker?
Medi - Ocre: Yeah. Yeah, I'll get a bag of like I'll get yeah, I'll get a bag of like ⁓ bugles or something. I'll be like, You guys want something to eat? You can have a nice glass of milk. Come on in. Maybe have some tea.
Scott: Drop ⁓ on ya. Yep, yep.
Chris: Would you like spot of tea with your bugles?
Medi - Ocre: Yeah. Yeah.
Chris: ⁓ god.
Scott: Yeah.
Chris: Well I know y'all only said thirty minutes, so if for everybody listening, ⁓ it was laughed about say that again?
Scott: ⁓ tomeira. It doesn't matter. Nothing going.
Medi - Ocre: Was that?
Chris: ⁓ I gotcha. So, you know, I know y'all create I'm not sure if y'all created this just out of shits of giggles or if it was something y'all planned to go bigger. I know y earlier you said y'all didn't, but as you said earlier, Scott, maybe Manny had this plan to be bigger. Was that your plan in the end, Manny?
Medi - Ocre: Yeah, I think it actually could be bigger than it is. I think, you know, there's a bigger audience out there 'cause when we go to these hospitals, we see a lot of people that say, Hey, we love your Instagrams or we love your TikToks and then, you know, somebody else will say, ⁓ why, what what do you mean? So those people will s you know, get shown from their partner what we're doing. And I think there's a bigger audience out there and I think we're getting there. I mean, my phone keeps going off. ⁓ These notifications, the Instagram one that Scott did with the arm is it's amazing, like they just take off, you know. People love the arm. But yeah, I think it's you know, I think it you know, I think it's gonna get bigger. I hope. You know, I think like I said, we're gonna get the ambulance and ⁓ you know, we won't we need to get one that runs, that's for sure.
Chris: Right. That that's kinda
Scott: More scripted content.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah, yeah, more scripted content and ⁓ you know it's gonna be funny when we get it because we do have some ideas already, but we can't do them. We could, but it really would make I mean we could green screen the ideas, but it would be funnier with the ambulance. ⁓ you know, that's not gonna probably have a stretcher. I think that's probably optional. So we'll we might make one. You know, I mean a piece of plywood, maybe a
Scott: We'll figure like a dolly from Home Depot.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah, I mean we might get yeah, we might make one, you know, some two by fours and ⁓ sheet of plywood. You know, maybe and some wheels from Harbor Freight or something. Yeah, you know we might
Chris: Right. Have let Bob have a ride.
Medi - Ocre: ⁓ he will be. We have you know, we have some ideas of ⁓ of him going for a ride. Yeah.
Chris: I could only imagine.
Scott: Yeah, I think the sky's the limit. Like I think we have ideas for longer skits. It's just trying to find time and that stuff. But we have a lot of ideas that eventually we want to do for like YouTube length, not TikTok. And ⁓ like I we could have a whole like show like with half hour content I with the ideas we have. So hopefully someday we get there.
Chris: Right.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah, I mean we do Yeah, I mean it'd be nice. I mean like we're just running and gunning it, you know, we don't like we have this nice little screen that we can see what the you know the back camera is ⁓ is recording, but half of the time we forget it. Well I forget it half of the time, but yeah, I mean it's just ⁓ Yeah, it's not charged. And it's a funny if I found another one tonight, but we gotta plug it in.
Chris: Right the also. Okay.
Scott: You bring it, it's not charged.
Medi - Ocre: But ⁓ yeah, I mean if we had the capabilities of ⁓ camera crew, I mean something like ⁓ like a Saturday Night Live type thing. Yeah, the sky's limited. We do have ideas that we we you know, we couldn't do ourselves. Like we have one idea of ⁓ we would need to be at a water park for that idea. So
Scott: We don't have the budget for that.
Chris: That sounds interesting.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah. Yeah, we don't have the budget. ⁓ but if we had the budget, the ideas are are pretty much endless, so yeah.
Scott: Yeah. I have one skit that takes place on the moon.
Chris: You don't need to get a production company behind y'all, that's what you need.
Medi - Ocre: I know. Yeah. That would be a long way to go. We But yeah, we don't ⁓ I mean they they have the shows like Reno nine one one and Tacoma F D and ⁓ then they have a few others so who's we yeah, maybe one day.
Scott: Yeah. Hey Elon, we need a rocket. Sirens.
Chris: Yeah, but y'all's is Y'all's is tremendously better. I mean y'all's we can actually again, relate to i i and makes sense.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah.
Scott: Thank you.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah. Yeah, I know. Everybody that says that, I think they're right. They say, you know, our stuff we just keep coming up with these ideas too. We don't like they're endless. We already have ideas for Sunday. And we write ⁓ down. There's a couple, like I said, we can't we can't do. We need ⁓ we need to go to different locations, but eventually we will though.
Chris: Wait. So you all film at a central location or how does it how does it do that?
Scott: Yeah, people ask me Yeah, we shoot at ⁓ a local cable station. I I've been a volunteer there since like junior high. ⁓ so they g I have a key and they let us go in there and film, which has been huge. Otherwise we would really wouldn't have anywhere else. That's where the amulets hopefully will come in. A little mobile studio.
Medi - Ocre: Yes. Yes. I'm sure once we get the ambulance people are gonna wonder what the hell it is. When it's just mediocre EMS and spray paint on the side and it's
Scott: Yeah. It's gonna be awesome.
Medi - Ocre: Somebody probably will come up to us when we're out with it and say, Excuse me, s are you guys there's a man over there. I think he might be dead. You guys are in an ambulance. Can you help him?
Scott: Putting the mass OEMS, we can't work as EMTs if we're not punched in.
Chris: We're not that kind of ambulance.
Scott: So we can't help ya.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah, we're now punched in, so I think ⁓ you know, what we'll probably do is purchase a time clock. So, you know, we'll just buy it we'll bring a time clock with us. So
Chris: That's awesome. ⁓ Lord. I swear if I didn't have another podcast for twenty minutes
Scott: great field though. Yeah.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah, we have a lot of some of the ideas we have, some of the equipment is expensive too. There's a few supply room things that I wanna get, but they're they're expensive. There's ⁓ yeah, there's a restraint that I wanna get. ⁓ but it's kind of big and expensive.
Chris: ⁓ no. And then I'm T ⁓ Is it bolt to the ceiling, sir?
Medi - Ocre: No. No, it doesn't. I think it I know what you're talking about though, but ⁓ No, it's ⁓ it's another w it's another one.
Scott: I want to film the the triage tags that I came up with.
Medi - Ocre: ⁓ yeah, we have one of those that we're gonna do. We already have the piece of equipment.
Scott: Light up triage tags that go somewhere.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah. We're gonna do ⁓ 'cause you know you have red or you know, dead. ⁓ green is you're good to go. what is yellow your
Scott: Remote control, but yeah. How do you see it at nighttime? You need to mellow.
Chris: I mean
Medi - Ocre: Yeah, we we got we got something already. We need to do it at night though. ⁓ we need needs to be dark for the
Chris: In a graveyard. That'd be a good one.
Medi - Ocre: We did something years ago in a graveyard, but it wasn't I don't really remember what the hell we did. We did something though. But ⁓ yeah. Yeah. We have just endless ideas though.
Scott: Every every time I get a call to like a funeral home You know when you get a when you get a call to a funeral home 'cause somebody passed out, I'm like the comedy ideas go through my head of like there's a guy in the casket laying there, like what if we went to the wrong person, you know? That'd be funny. Not for the family, but for us it'd be funny.
Medi - Ocre: ⁓ yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Chris: Yeah. True.
Scott: Make sure you get a refusal from that guy in the casket.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah. Yeah. I mean yeah.
Chris: Right here.
Medi - Ocre: I mean, ⁓ you know, like if the if the ideas if we could get into like ⁓ like if somebody could let us use a jail cell or if somebody could let us use a you know, a restaurant or whatever, we're not gonna just ⁓ you know, go in there illegally. But ⁓ yeah, I mean the ideas are there.
Chris: Right.
Scott: We won't.
Chris: That's awesome.
Medi - Ocre: Eventually, yeah, eventually. So
Scott: Maybe that's something we need to do is reach out to the public.
Chris: So, you know, everybody listening this
Scott: Right. I was just saying maybe we should reach out to the public and say, Hey, is there do you have a location we could film a skid in? You know, if somebody has a restaurant that watches us nearby, maybe they'll be like, Yeah, come on in. It's an idea.
Chris: Public. Yeah. Right.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah. Yeah.
Chris: Hell, I mean like you just said, after hours. I mean
Scott: Yeah.
Medi - Ocre: ⁓ yeah. ⁓ yeah.
Chris: So no one won't even you'd have to be there. You were there.
Scott: Something to think about.
Medi - Ocre: It's too bad that the fair isn't here anymore because if the fair was like we had the Brockt fair that was here, which it's sad that it's no longer here because if it was here, I think that, you know, it would be great because they have ⁓ a couple of rides that Bob would unfortunately have a very bad accident on. You know. So ⁓ you know, I mean he just you know, if he's not strapped in, yeah.
Scott: Yeah. throw ⁓ off the top of the Ferris wheel.
Medi - Ocre: I mean if he's not strapped in, you know, he's anything could happen. He could just catapult across the whole park. So like the fare is gone, so can't do that.
Chris: Hell yeah. So sorry I'm gonna have to cut this off here shortly, but ⁓ everybody listening has laughed because of something you've created. And that's again phenomenal. But if there's a medic driving home after twelve, twenty four hours ⁓ thinking about quitting or wondering if they're the only ones struggling in this damn field with their own mental health, ⁓ what do you want to tell them?
Medi - Ocre: That's great. ⁓ which one? If they're thinking about quitting, 'cause there's quite a few of ⁓ that I can assure you that are probably thinking about quitting. ⁓ don't take everything so serious. Just look at our content. You know? Yeah, look at our content. Yeah.
Chris: Uh-huh.
Scott: Yeah. Yep. My father was a medic. My father was a medic my whole life and you know, he always said, ⁓ you know, you never stop learning, don't ever think you know everything. So like don't beat yourself up if you know if things didn't go well but you did as best as you could, you know, you can't kick yourself. I know a lot people do that. But ⁓ you know. He was a medic for like thirty years and he still was like I still learn something every day and You know, if you have any issues about it, make sure you just talk to somebody you're close to at work. That's that's what's helped me talking to people like Manny, you know. I I had a bad call a couple of weekends ago, a pediatric who got ran over by a car and didn't go so well, you know. And ⁓ everyone on the call was kinda having tough time but we talked about it and it helps.
Chris: Very true.
Scott: So everybody's there before we tell her.
Medi - Ocre: I had a really good antibiotic infusion today.
Scott: Yeah, went well. No infiltration.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah, it was really stressful. ⁓ no, it was stressful, you know. I took a blood pressure with the zole too. That was that was, you know, that was something.
Scott: Least you'd have to change the paper on it, right? On a Zole. It's the worst.
Medi - Ocre: I actually had to do that the other day and I forgot it. I said, I don't know, I couldn't remember which way the paper went. But I got it. ⁓
Chris: Ha ha. So y'all I know y'all are on TikTok, y'all are on Facebook, YouTube. Is there a website for anybody to be able to reach out to y'all if they want to learn more about y'all, get merch or share your chaos for God's sakes?
Medi - Ocre: There's a ⁓ there's a there's a link on the TikTok that has a link to all of our other pages. And I think Scott created like a spreadsheet on there that has some merchandise. Yeah.
Scott: It's called spread shop. Yeah. Yeah, different shirts, all sorts of different shirts, mugs, all that stuff. It's pretty cool. Stickers. It's about the best site in the world. It's kind of weird.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah, we tried making Yeah, we tried making some stuff on our own and it's it didn't go too well. ⁓ I mean it's mediocre. I mean ⁓ you can see in the most recent videos the logo on Scott's shirt is gigantic.
Scott: And it's the wrong side, it's supposed to be over here.
Medi - Ocre: ⁓ in the Yeah, it's on the wrong side. The back of the shirt, the logo's crooked. ⁓ yeah, it's came out horrible. ⁓ so we don't make anything ourselves right now. We did make some stickers. ⁓ we've been Yeah, we're mediocre, so it's that's the I guess the products are pretty good, you know.
Chris: ⁓ god. Mm-hmm.
Scott: We are mediocre.
Chris: Yeah, as long as mediocre it's mediocre.
Scott: Yeah. It's on purpose. This is on purpose.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah, yeah.
Chris: So before we wrap up for everybody That's our purpose Before we wrap up if today's conversation made you laugh, reminded you why this job needs humor, or you just want to support Scott and Manny and what they're building, go give mediocre EMS a damn follow. Share their videos, check out their merchandise. People, these two guys are phenomenal. They're awesome. They work with us, not against us. So make sure we help them grow and keep going.
Scott: Yeah.
Medi - Ocre: Yeah, we just recently started ⁓ up the ⁓ X account. So we have a whopping ten followers. We're getting there. Yeah. People the the news channels, I can see the talk shows contacting us now. So it's only a matter of time. Saturday Night Live is probably saying these guys got ten this guy's got ten followers, so we gotta get them on right now. So but no, everything else is going on.
Scott: Thank you.
Chris: Woo!
Scott: Yeah. And we usually try to reply to people if they message us. So you know, if people wanna reach out, say hi, we like that and we like to say hi back.
Medi - Ocre: Mm. Yeah, we'll get to you. Yeah, we'll get to you if we see the message. We'll get to you.
Scott: Many agrees.
Chris: Well guys I appreciate it. I'm gonna go ahead and hit stop real quick.
Scott: ⁓ well thanks for having us.
Chris: God forsaken computer.
