Lee Glass: Right, all right, let's go.
Lincoln: week three gave us a lot to talk about. we got embarrassments happening. We got teams that are undefeated that that that that we don't think have been undefeated. so tonight, you know, I got a question for you guys. I want you to give me one team that you believed okay, so hold on, let me let me stop my way. Give me one team you believe in now that you didn't believe in before the season, and one team you believed in. That's your starting to question.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Ooh.
Lincoln: One team you believed in that you you know kinda waning on, and then one team you believed in, that you started. Right. That you didn't
Lee Glass: You didn't believe in that you believe in now.
Lincoln: believe in. Right, that you didn't believe in and and and and vice versa on each end. If you all got that.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Okay.
Lee Glass: You wanna go first, Doc or
Donald "Doc" Glass: yeah, I'll go first. And and and both of my answers are in the AFC West. The team I believed in that I got some reservations about is them Los Angeles Chargers. 'Cause they they they own three and they they seem a little, you know, dis discombobulated and th they got a murderous row for the next few weeks of game, so There's a good chance they may end up like 0-6, 0 and 7, 1 6. So like that just don't that don't look good in AFC West. I don't think this team's going like to the playoffs or gonna make noise if they sneak in. But the Las Vegas Raiders
Lincoln: Mm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: They they're a respectable team. And I I I I don't bet, cause if I bet, I would be bareback right now, because there's no way I was
Lincoln: Okay.
Donald "Doc" Glass: gonna I was gonna if someone had bet me money that the Vegas Raiders was going to be three and I was gonna take that bet and be laughing at them until this point in the season.
Lincoln: Right, right.
Donald "Doc" Glass: So Clint Kobiak's doing something I don't think it's a amazing roster, but what they do have some pieces and those pieces are working together and They're just playing sound football and got wins your games in the NFL. So
Lee Glass: So a team that I did not believe in that I believe in now. And I know this this isn't gonna really shock anyone, maybe, maybe, maybe not, but that that would be the Kansas City Chiefs. Coming into the
Lincoln: Mm, yeah.
Lee Glass: season, I I didn't I didn't think much of the Chiefs. I didn't think that Kenneth Walker would have made that big of a difference. But to see how they're Because Andy Reid hasn't shown the propensity of committing to a running back in the past. But
Lincoln: Right. Right.
Lee Glass: I I wanna believe that this is purely based on the influence of Eric Bienemy. Since Eric Bieneme has come back, you know, the running game has now taken form, and this seems to be more of an Eric Bienneme imprint, more so than Andy Reed, because Andy Reed has never done this before. Not to this clip.
Lincoln: Right.
Lee Glass: But the way that they're playing right now on defense with, you know, some of the older guys and some of the newer guys and how Patrick Mahomes has now kind of reinvented himself by not necessarily taking the the old man, Peyton Manning approach where he's just, you know, playing not, you know, not to mess up, but really just playing within the flow of the run, run first and then t to set up the pass. It's been a revelation. So they They look like AFC contenders up there with the with the Bills. Didn't expect that. Team
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: that I believed in, that I don't quite believe in anymore in this first quarter of the of the season, I gotta call, I gotta say my Rams. Right now, I I I just you know, the
Lincoln: Mm. Mm.
Lee Glass: the silly mistakes and and what I mean by believing, not to say that they're not a good team, that they're not going to make the playoffs, but this was Super Bowl a bus.
Lincoln: Okay.
Lee Glass: That was my belief coming into the
Lincoln: Yeah. Yeah.
Lee Glass: season. And right now I I'm not I'm not inclined to think that that's gonna happen.
Lincoln: Yeah, yeah. It's some interesting, inter is interesting, interesting. I I I gotta I gotta I got I got two. the team that you know that I I I didn't quite, you know, think they were gonna do anything. but you know would would be right there, you know, for the playoffs. Doc, I gotta say you're you're you're Vikings, man. Vikings are three and you know, I take me by surprise. Not by surprise, but I know the defense was there, but I know you were shaky at quarterback. And so you guys are definitely taking taking taken taking me by surprise. now the team that I believed in that you know, is not quite fitting the bill. you know, I gotta say, I I I gotta say my Eagles, man. I I I really, you know, it it was a two and start, and we're gonna jump into this right now. You just got embarrassed on Monday night. and you know the Chicago Bears, we came in came the Eagles came into town, Chicago Bears, and you got embarrassed. you know, you put in, you know, Jalen Hurts gets hit on the sideline, you know. It it was a bang bang hit, but again, he was okay. the NFL decides to take him out, put him in the tent. Nobody in the tent. He waiting, trying to figure out what's going on. Four plays go by. They they bring in Andy Dalton. And I said, right before, right before this play, Andy Dalton, I said, do not let Andy Dalton pass the ball. Do not. I say hand it off. And if they don't get it, kick the field goal. Please. But no, they decided to put the ball into Andy Dalton's hand. And exactly what I did not want to happen with the momentum happen. And look, Ben Johnson, I gotta give him his props because I mean he was he was he was on his game. He was he was pulling everything out of the bag. their defense was on point. The Eagles didn't didn't look like they came to play, didn't look like they they they they just look lost. you know, this was the this was there there was a a bubble screen that they run for the last four three weeks in a row, multiple times, different looks to Makai Lemon. That does not work. Everybody knows what you're doing. Take the play out of the playbook, for goodness sake. Take it out, throw it away. I mean, if if if casual fans Know what you're doing. What do you think NFL defense is come on man? It's just it's it's ridiculous. It's ridiculous. So yeah, they got embarrassed on Monday night, man. Case Keenum. Look, I Lee, we talked about this. We talked about this a little bit. You know, we I
Lee Glass: We did. We didn't.
Lincoln: I was I was on the I was kind of shaky because, you know, I I was like, if if they don't come, they totally switch their game plan. They say we're not gonna run it down your throat this time. We gonna we because we know you all come and prepared for that. We are now going to carve you up. And for Vic Fangio to stay in a zone the whole night, they was carv I mean Case Keenum is a rhythm passer and he was carving us up all night. And so anyway, very disappointing. I I don't know, I'm I'm not saying they they they done by any stretch of the means. You got a lot of work to do, but props to Chicago, props to Ben Johnson, the offense and defense, they they look really good. If it was Caleb Williams, they might have scored sixty. if Caleb Williams was playing. They they they might have scored sixty. so I I I'm just I'm just I'm just glad Caleb Williams was not playing in this game because it would it would have been ugly. It would have been real ugly.
Donald "Doc" Glass: I have an unpopular take.
Lee Glass: No boy.
Lincoln: Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: I think y'all had a better chance of winning the game if Caleb Williams was playing.
Lincoln: Hey.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Because as superman as Caleb Williams is, he don't do nothing on rhythm. And you
Lee Glass: No you don't.
Donald "Doc" Glass: had a thirty-eight year old quarterback who ain't played for the last three years, but throws on rhythm and has has very nice arm talent. He he can scramble a little bit. He ain't Caleb Williams, but he throws on rhythm. And he was carving up your defense. Yo y'all brought the blitz 11 times. He was 11 for 11 against the Blitz. He saw it coming. He knew where the ball should go. And he was making throws before it would even break, hitting dudes in stride under pr under duress. Carving y'all up. That's just a veteran quarterback who understands the philosophy of the offense and doing what he's supposed to do. And if Caleb would do that, yeah, it'd be like 50 points, right? But even that first game. He's scrapping for for touchdowns. He ain't throwing stuff on rhythm. So yeah, I I I think I think it is an indictment that Kayla Williams goes against the Vikings and they put up three points. And then the next week the thirty eight year old quarterback who can play in three years can put up twenty seven against the Eagles defense.
Lincoln: Thank you less.
Donald "Doc" Glass: So I it Ben Johnson is an amazing play caller. He was calling plays to get to get Case Keenum in rhythm. And once that dude in rhythm,
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: yeah, I mean he hot. He's on fire. Like NBA jams kind of thing. Like that's he is hitting, yeah. So I don't think most quarterbacks gonna do it against your defense. but that was just Keenum's night. his his kids was there, she was just enjoying it, the one last the one last hurrah kind of thing. So
Lincoln: yeah, yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: anyway, yeah.
Lincoln: Lee before you go, before you go, before
Donald "Doc" Glass: huh.
Lincoln: you go. If if if this is Ben Johnson's offense on rhythm, my goodness. My
Donald "Doc" Glass: Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: Yeah. This
Lincoln: goodness. That's all I can say.
Lee Glass: so he and and he talked about it during the press conference, right? He's like, I've had some experience with a quarterback that doesn't scramble or isn't as athletic. You know, yeah I I've had some experience with that. He says the only thing he's not not had experience with is a quarterback that hasn't been the number one overall pick. Right? He's tugging in, you know, they they chuckle at that one. But yeah, I mean,
Donald "Doc" Glass: Number one pick. Yeah. Tongue in cheek. Yep.
Lincoln: But yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Lee Glass: when you look at what they what the Detroit Lions were with Goff when he was there. That's what he was bringing over to the Bears, but the quarterback that they have, who is basically on the like the face of the who's who is the face of the franchise, he doesn't operate that way. So here it is, you had Ben Johnson having to change and kind of acquiesce to the elite talent of Caleb Williams. So you can't expect him to throw on rhythm. You can't expect him to to you know have a high percentage completion rate where I've heard and we've seen people in in the in the in the chat and you know even offline saying, well, you know, wide receivers are dropping the ball. That's why Caleb Williams' percentage is low. It it would have been higher if blah blah blah blah blah blah, right? And then here you come, here comes Case Keenum, and he has 70.6% completion percentage in this one game.
Lincoln: Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: And dropping his bolts.
Lee Glass: Right? I don't think Caleb Williams has had a game where he's completed 70% of his passes. So
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: You know, there's something to say about that. But if you got a quarterback that can come in and do what he does, and I'm not saying replace Caleb Williams, I'm not saying that Kate Keenum is the guy. I'm not saying Badgin is the guy. I'm just saying if Caleb Williams can just learn how to do this, then we all in trouble. So
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: I I hope he just never learns it. I hope he never learns it. I I'm I honest
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: to God, I hope he never I hope he never gets it. Continue to scramble. Continue to do all the all those great things that ingratiates you to the, you know, to the fan base, right? Because I'm telling
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: you, if he does
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: continue on this trajectory, these hamstring pulls and these nicks that he that's going to accumulate, it's going to diminish his ability to scramble and do all those great things that he's been doing in the past. And then you're going to have to be relegated to pass and in the pocket. And if you
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: haven't been exercising that muscle, then that's it.
Lincoln: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Lee Glass: But outside of that, man, the game itself, yeah, Kate Keenum, Keenum looked like a he looked like a rock style there. Your defense didn't have time, or you didn't know what you were getting yourself into because you're not preparing for that. And we said
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah. Yeah.
Lincoln: No. No.
Lee Glass: this links, we were like, the worst thing that can happen is you're preparing for one quarterback and then the next quarterback comes in
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: and he's competent in the offense, and then it's a completely different style. Defense doesn't know what to do. Or it's g not say no to it's gonna be difficult for them to kind of catch up.
Lincoln: Great. Yeah,
Lee Glass: Right, with what that quarterback
Lincoln: yeah.
Lee Glass: is doing. And Ben Johnson had a really good scheme for this one game, but now
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: teams are gonna have tape on it and let's see if Keenum can carry this over.
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: Or what I think they're gonna do is I think they're gonna put Badgin in. Because Badgent
Lincoln: They're gonna put back.
Lee Glass: he yeah, he was he had he had come out of concussion protocol right before the game, but he hadn't practice.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah.
Lincoln: Well, gotcha, gotcha.
Lee Glass: Right. So now I think they're gonna give him the start next year. I mean next next Next week. Yeah.
Lincoln: Yeah, because they did say, Caleb got like maybe three, four weeks, week to week. It kind of, kind of, manage it. if, badger could do what, what, what, and, orchestrate this offense, Ben Johnson offense, like how he wanted to be done. Ooh, it's going to be, can be far.
Lee Glass: Well, l let's let me let me put it to you this way.
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: Ben Johnson, we all know he's a stickler for how his offense needs to be run. Okay?
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: Caleb Williams aside, and we know why. Okay.
Lincoln: Yeah, yeah.
Lee Glass: But he met Badgant there when he came to the Bears and he decided
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: to keep him. Not only keep him, but gave him an extension. So that
Lincoln: Yeah. Yeah.
Lee Glass: lets me know that he has confidence in Badgin to be able to run his offense. Otherwise
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: Ben Johnson wasn't keeping no second string quarterback if he can't do what he wants him to do.
Lincoln: That's true. Yeah, yeah, that's scary, All right. Let's move on to this next one. Buffalo beat the Chargers 24 to 16 to remain unbeaten, even though the Bills turned the football over five times. Does winning despite five turnovers show how dangerous Buffalo is, or is that exactly the kind of football that eventually gets you eliminated in January?
Lee Glass: So
Donald "Doc" Glass: It's Buffalo. It's Buffalo, right? Y you could go against a team that's hasn't won a game and have five turnovers and still end up winning the game. But you go against another really good team when it matters and turn the ball over that many times, yeah. It's it's it's over and done, right? And and the scary part is for Buffalo None of us would be shocked if Buffalo had a five turnover game in the playoffs. That's that's just what they seem to do. Right. So so yeah, like they they are talented enough against bad teams to average teams, e car to win despite five turnovers. But against playoff teams, yeah. That that that gonna work. So
Lee Glass: So here's the thing, with what what with the what the Bills did, that's kind of that's that's rarefied air, right? To be able to to to do that. But the Chargers, they're in trouble. They they are in trouble. that they are 0-3, and we talked about the murderous role they have in front of them. I think the next game that they got is the the Seahawks, right? And this is a Seahawks team coming off of a bad loss. So now they gotta they gotta buckle down for that. The offense still doesn't seem to be clicking. Herbert doesn't seem to be comfortable. the running game isn't going. The run the wide receivers aren't getting any separation. And then when you go back to that to the whole turnover thing, what it was, they said it was five turnovers, Buffalo, Buffalo committed. Did you know there's only been three times?
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: Where a team has turned the ball over five five times and and had a minus four turnover margin. And only three times since I think they said 2013 has a team won is like 381 and one. Right? But what's interesting is all three of those times, the team that lost was the Chargers.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Chargers.
Lincoln: I just yeah. Yeah.
Lee Glass: All three, all three of those times. So it's like, I well, I I don't know what to say about that, but this these these charges that we're that we're talking about today, if they don't get their act together soon, Mike McDaniel is gonna be out. Cause he he he's gonna be he's gonna be the fall guy in all of this.
Lincoln: Yes. Yes. Mm-hmm. Absolutely. I I agree. I agree. he he he you know, that's the that's the newest comment, that's the nomin the newest the newest
Donald "Doc" Glass: No which one that
Lincoln: feat that was added. So Yep, yep, yep,
Lee Glass: The the newest variable to the equation? Right.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Asked to arrive, first to leave.
Lincoln: so yeah, you'll be the first one to be gone. Yep, so
Donald "Doc" Glass: Has to arrive for us to leave. Yep.
Lincoln: yeah, I I I don't know. I don't know if they they they get it together. and time enough to to to I mean it's this this they you got one more game for the this first part of the quarter. If they lose this next game, which doc you already mentioned, the gauntlet for them is kind of it's it's it's is tough. I don't I don't see them.
Donald "Doc" Glass: The Seahawks, hosting the Broncos,
Lee Glass: See after a bad loss.
Donald "Doc" Glass: at the Chiefs, at the Rams, hosting the Texans, at the Ravens.
Lincoln: Mm-mm. Yeah. Yeah, forget it. Forget it. They done. They done.
Lee Glass: They don't. They don't.
Lincoln: Yeah, they done. Just stick a fork in them right now. But who you can stick a fork in, we talked about earlier, Kansas City Chiefs. So, you know, they beat Miami. It was a close game a at first. You know, Miami looked like they was hanging in there. twenty four to ten. Kansas City remains unbeating unbeaten at this point in the AFC What separates Kansas City from Buffalo and what do you trust about each team after three weeks? We just talked about this. Like after three weeks, what kind of separate Kansas City from Buffalo at this point, in your opinion?
Donald "Doc" Glass: I I I I think Buffalo has a higher ceiling and they got a lower floor. Casey and you're no five turn and you have a no five turnover game. Right? I I think they have c become a lot more conservative of the offense. The offense and the defense are much more in sync with each other.
Lincoln: Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: They'll they'll they'll churn clock, they'll shorten the game, defense comes in, does their thing, get get get you know, change of possession and so they're winning scoring the twenties, but the team, you know, scoring the teens they ain't trying to outscore people thirty five, thirty four, thirty five, thirty two. That still
Lincoln: Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: seems to be the Buffalo way. Which if everything's clicking, is awesome. But if it ain't and they're not playing the Chargers, I don't know if it's gonna work. So
Lee Glass: Yeah, I'm I'm with you on the floor for for Buffalo being lower, but I don't think the ceiling is that much higher. When you look at the teams and and the way that they kind of match up, they're almost even across the board. Quarterback, wide receiver room, right? Bunch of you know, bunch of guys, but they can make plays when you need to make plays. No no big time superstar. running back, right? You got Cook, you got Walker. defense opportunistic on both sides. they seem almost like a mirror image of each other at this point in time. So I I I right now I have those two teams for that AFC
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: championship matchup.
Lincoln: Yeah, I I was gonna say the same thing. I say right now, what is looking like after three games? It looks like Kansas
Lee Glass: Yeah.
Lincoln: City and and and Buffalo is gonna meet up again in that AFC championship. you know
Lee Glass: And don't forget Kansas City, they they they always got the refs on their side too. So I mean they they deaf and now that they're good. Yeah.
Lincoln: okay. Tell me this. I don't know if you guys saw it. In that game, Patrick Mahomes was in the end zone, throws the ball, gets hit. Like I mean it's it it's like a it's like a bang bang. It's what is the defender supposed to do? What
Lee Glass: Right.
Lincoln: is the d that that should not have been a flag. They bailed
Lee Glass: Right.
Lincoln: him out because for for for he he on the ground looking up at the rep like Yes.
Lee Glass: it was a third it was a third it was a third down play. It was a third down play. Yep.
Lincoln: Third down play, and they would have had to punt and and they bailed him out. I mean, and and and that's what happens with Kansas City, that's why I don't like Kansas City. Because I mean, the refs just they love Patrick Mahomes. They love that, you know, any other quarterback, they would not have thrown that flag. But Patrick Mahomes, they are going to throw that flag because as a defender, the ball is like right here, and he hits you right when the ball is is released. Clean hit. Everything is clean about it. But he but but but he gets bailed out with a flag. That that kinda pissed me off in this game. I couldn't I could I couldn't believe it. I couldn't believe it.
Lee Glass: No, you're right. You're right. And and I think it they they they called the flag because he they said he he landed with his full body weight on on Mahomes. But but you could tell even in the replay, you could tell like he he didn't really drive him to the ground. But
Lincoln: No, no.
Lee Glass: you know rules are rules and of course they're gonna make sure that they're enforced for some teams and
Donald "Doc" Glass: Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: other teams they
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: they give they give him five penalties within three minutes of the la you know, of the game.
Lincoln: Right,
Lee Glass: Which has never happened in NFL history, you know. Yeah.
Lincoln: right, right. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Tell me about it. We can talk about that.
Lee Glass: Five penalties in three minutes.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Okay.
Lincoln: We we we're gonna talk about that. Kansas City does have which is surprising, they're playing another three and team this week and that three and team is the Raiders. and so at that that I I expect Kansas City to win that game, but you know, it it should be interesting to see what the Raiders are gonna do. So Lee, you talked about the five penalties, right? Five penalties. Expound on the expound on the on on on this game for me please because I I really I really want to hear your point of view when you talk about this the the the the span of penalties that happened in this short amount of time. Explain what what what was going on here.
Lee Glass: I don't want to. I I really I really I don't I really won't I don't want to talk about this game. But if we have to, right? So
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: of course we have it it was the tail of two halves. Right. Rams were definitely in control. first half of this game, sixteen, I think zip about half time.
Lincoln: Yep. Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: control with the sprinkling the run, staff at the slinging the ball all over the place. The the part that gets me in all of this is the fact that Sappett a attempted over fifty fifty attempts passing. Like you you can't
Lincoln: True, yeah.
Lee Glass: have that. One, you can't have that. That that shouldn't be a thing. Okay. And as much as you know, Caleb Williams isn't my favorite Rams running back, right? When you talk about the history that we had
Donald "Doc" Glass: I mean, yeah.
Lee Glass: at that position, he was cooking that game. He was doing he was
Lincoln: He was.
Lee Glass: he was yeah, he he was he was in his own that game and I think he should have had more carries and sprinkling corn, but For whatever reason, McVeigh, maybe it was a game plan, maybe it was what the defense was dictating with Denver, but they would they were passing the ball a lot. But when we got into that second half, and you can tell that the Broncos made an adjustment on the offensive side because they they started scoring the ball,
Lincoln: Yeah, for sure. Yeah.
Lee Glass: right? Our defense were you know caught on the heels. We give up two two-point conversions in a row, right?
Lincoln: Yeah, yeah.
Lee Glass: Crazy. But Getting down to the latter part of that game where we, you know, keep making mistakes and we talked about this length, I told you, because I picked
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: I picked I picked the Broncos to win this game.
Lincoln: Pick the broncos. Yep, yep.
Lee Glass: I picked them to win this game because of the fact that we get sloppy with execution on both sides of the well, all three parts of the ball, special teams involved a as well. We we settled for too many short field goals. We, you know, for whatever reason couldn't couldn't punch it in. And when it came down again to the last three minutes of the game, we got five penalties levied against us. And that pass interference, which wasn't a pass interference, I get it was fast.
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: I get in the moment, you know, you it it it might have looked like it was past interference, but my man caught the interception and
Lincoln: Yep.
Lee Glass: he had no hands, none of his his hands wasn't touching the defender. They were both going for the ball. So of course that that dictated, you know, a big part of the game. And then, you know, the that the the touchdown that wasn't a touchdown for Bo Nicks that gave them another you know I think the ball at the the one inch line and took more time off the clock. So
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: we we just we at the end of the day, the Rams They they shot themselves in the foot. Because and as much as I I I you know, I'm tongue in cheek about the the f the the five penalties in three minutes, the fact of the matter is Stafford did have a pick six. We had a couple of dropped interceptions, and then we had one that, you know, was taken away from us. But we we had many opportunities to win this game, put the in the seal of the game away and we just didn't.
Lincoln: Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
Lee Glass: We just didn't.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah, y'all let y'all essentially let Denv Den Denville off that off the proverbial hook, right? And and the interesting thing for me with with Bonex, the whole thing with Sean Payton selecting Bonex is that Bonex protects the ball. And he did his math and you win when you quarterback doesn't put the ball in harm's way. And Bonex making some throws and it's like, dude, what are you doing? Rolling right, throwing left across the grain. That one should have been picked off.
Lee Glass: This should have my god, that should've been picked up. Lake. Yeah. Wallace. Lake had it. Wallace had it. Watson had one. Like yeah. Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: The the one that was right in your boy's hands on the right flat. That should been picked off.
Lincoln: Yeah. Yep. That yeah, Lee had that. Yeah, it was good. Yep. Yep. Yep. Yep. Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah.
Lincoln: Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: So so yeah, so you know, it's one of those things where, you know, on on on the Denver side they they make the adjustments, they come back to win, you know, and the coach is like almost mad that they won 'cause he's worried like what he's gonna say ain't gonna resonate 'cause it's like, well, we we went the game coach. But you know, he's not he's not happy what happened. and as as you've alluded to Lee, like the Rams just gotta they gotta write the ship and write the ship quickly 'cause expectations are high. And they're not playing up to up to that level. Yes, you don't have Miles Garrett and yes you don't have Puka Dakota, but this team is talented enough to win games without those two on the on the field. Right? And they're and they're not executing when they need to execute.
Lee Glass: Especially when you
Lincoln: Mm.
Lee Glass: build up a a a sixteen point lead, you gotta learn how to protect it. And you don't protect
Lincoln: Yeah, you gotta win that.
Lee Glass: that by path being pass happy. You got to run the ball.
Lincoln: Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah.
Lincoln: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You got you you you gotta you gotta win that game. I I I I thought you guys had that locked start. And then and then in the second house Sean Payton took over the the play calling and and then everything was changed. Sean Payton took over. Sean Payton took over. Trust me. Yeah, yeah. He was
Donald "Doc" Glass: Give me this
Lincoln: like, Okay, that enough is enough. Enough is enough. I I I'm taking this back over. You know, gu nobody nobody could
Donald "Doc" Glass: Enough is enough. You got ten quarters, that's all you got.
Lee Glass: man.
Lincoln: tell me other otherwise. Sean Peaton took that over, man. I for sure. So Jacksonville hammered out a 35 to 6 win, Trevor Lawrence throwing three touchdown passes. Here's the debate. Are the Jaguars arriving earlier than expected, or did they simply expose New England?
Lee Glass: They didn't arrive earlier than expected. They they're arriving right on time. This is, I think, a as a matter of fact, they they're a little bit late. We were expecting to see this a couple of years ago. last year they had thirteen wins and that's when the I I think they had arrived. And this is a carryover from last year, and this is what to be expected. As it pertains to the the Patriots, they are who we thought they were. Right? They are who we thought they were. They had a cream
Lincoln: Yeah. Yep.
Lee Glass: puff schedule last season. And
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: every time I say this, I get eviscerated in the comments. But I'm gonna say it again. Right? They had a cream puff schedule last season and they they took advantage of it. Good on them. But now they got a big boy schedule,
Lincoln: Yeah, yeah. Yep, yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah.
Lee Glass: and this is what's happening. And I don't wanna hear,
Lincoln: Right.
Lee Glass: well, AJ Brown is like you didn't have AJ Brown last year.
Lincoln: Right, didn't have a master. Right.
Lee Glass: He didn't have him last year, right? So don't don't give me that. And Drake May, regardless of AJ Brown, he's making some boneheaded decisions.
Lincoln: Ooh, yes, horrible.
Lee Glass: Right? Your offensive coordinator didn't change. Head coach didn't change. Like your coaching staff is pretty much intact. Nobody even wants, like, well, it's not like Josh McDaniels was going anywhere, but nobody wants those guys anyway. So you you're right. So your guys are your guys are
Lincoln: Right, exactly. Exactly.
Lee Glass: intact. And now that you're playing these, you know. High ranked teams, right? Seattle smacked you around, Jaguar smacked you around, right? So hey, it is what it is. It's what we thought.
Lincoln: Mm-hmm. Yep. Yep. Yep. Pull up your pull up your big boy Van D's, man.
Donald "Doc" Glass: The the the thing the thing with Drake May, he had you know, you had Josh McDaniels last year. who who's who's a really good offensive coordinator? But now you got seventeen games worth of tape on what they like to do. Right? And had
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: a whole offseason to be familiar with what what they like to do. I don't know how much McDaniels is changing what they do on offense. I don't know how much work Drake May's putting in to counter the counters. Right? But if he thought what worked last year was gonna work this year, y'all gonna have Patriots fans gonna have a long season. So and so if
Lincoln: Yeah, it's not gonna work. It's not gonna work.
Lee Glass: It doesn't go that way. It doesn't go that way. You almost have to r you have you have to reinvent yourself almost every season as a quarterback.
Lincoln: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Which is what the Patriots used to do with that coach two coaches ago. They would start from scratch every year. What we got? Play
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: selection, who they gonna feature, they would build us a go. That's right. Every year they would start slow as they build the offensive playbook. But
Lincoln: Right. Yep. Mm-hmm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: but he that coach ain't there no more and that quarterback ain't there no more. So it's
Lincoln: Nope.
Donald "Doc" Glass: just the O. C. I'm we're gonna see what he can do. And he's able to kinda steady it yeah, write that ship.
Lincoln: So so w who who was the O C when New England was on their run? Who was the O C?
Lee Glass: You talking about w in Bilacheck days?
Lincoln: Yeah, when Bilichek was there, who was the O C?
Lee Glass: Well he had plenty OCs. Yeah, yeah yeah yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah, plenty. What one
Lincoln: Who was the who
Donald "Doc" Glass: one year it was him. I think one year it was him. I I'm not I'm not
Lincoln: Who who w so how many
Lee Glass: Well, that yeah didn't go too well. That didn't go too well that year. Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: talking to one where they they he got the defensive guys to try to coach the offense. That one did not go well at all. but but
Lincoln: No. No, that that is that
Lee Glass: Right.
Donald "Doc" Glass: but but for a few years it was it was it was Josh McDaniel.
Lincoln: That's what I'm trying to get at.
Lee Glass: Yeah right. Yeah.
Lincoln: It was Josh McDaniel. It's not Josh McDaniel's fault. It's not Josh McDaniel's fault. It's your all world who y'all believe was MVP quarterback fault. I mean, he making some boneheaded throws out there. That I mean, y'all think AJ Brown coming into town was gonna solve this? No. And when AJ Brown does come back, it's going to be the same. Guess who they play next week? The Buffalo Bills. Okay? In Buffalo. It's not gonna get any easier. The same thing is going to happen. So, so so look, for the Patriots fans out there, look, y'all can be in the comments all y'all want. Y'all could be in the comments all y'all want. But all all I'm telling y'all right now is you're not gonna win another Super Bowl anytime soon. Not with Drake Mae. I'm just letting you know that right now. So, hey, that's
Donald "Doc" Glass: Mm.
Lincoln: that's just how it is. That's just how it is. That and that's how it's gonna be. doc. Y'all three and man. Y'all three and doc. you know, this this this this was this was unexpected. I I I did not expect this, especially, you know, when you had Carson Wentz in there for a game and now you you you you you got you got your boy back. but you guys are three and defense, y'all winning it, how you win it, it don't matter. It don't matter how you win, you're three and and y'all are, you know, the the division, look, it might have to come through you guys. It might have to come through you guys. I don't know. We when when you and ch in Chicago play, that's gonna be interesting. But I I I well, you guys already did what y'all had to do with them. But I
Donald "Doc" Glass: That's really Mind Disher Cup.
Lincoln: mean, when Caleb Williams comes back, etcetera, et cetera. All right. So anyway, you guys are on a roll, man. What's going on in in in Minnesota, man?
Donald "Doc" Glass: I thought this was possible. I didn't think it was gonna happen. Cause I didn't think Kevin O'Connell would get out of his own way and let the defense shine and call the offense to support the defense. Right? 'cause it took until like week week twelve last year for him to realize, yeah, my quarterbacks can do nothing. Let me call a really conservative offensive game plan and let the defense try to win us some games. I'm actually a little bit surprised the defense is balling as well as it is. is given this like our DC's like what fourth or fifth year with the team and folks
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: can't seem to figure it out, right? but the fact that we're doing our best to not turn the ball over, move move move the chains and let the defense win us games and we're winning games because of the defense, I'm I'm happy to see. Right? Like we we
Lincoln: Yes.
Donald "Doc" Glass: If we had done this from the beginning last year, we would have at least made the playoffs. I I think it'll it'll give gives give Kyle Murray some time to understand the offense a little bit more, get a little bit more firepower there. But as long as that defense, the scheme is befuddling people, we we got a legitimate chance to win pretty much every team we play. I I'm still worried about the Rams 'cause Stafford's seen everything. But
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: But most of the quarterbacks in the league can't figure out the defense. So
Lee Glass: We we we gonna talk about nines? Leaving? Going? Getting shipped out. Yeah, you got shipped out, right?
Lincoln: He did get shipped out, yes. Yeah. Yeah. Mm-hmm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah.
Lee Glass: that that that that's interesting. tal talking about the game first. you know, I mean look, Buck the Bucks had a bad go, man. Baker Mayfield ended up dislocating his thumb at the end of that game. When I was watching it at the time It y you didn't really see it. It didn't look because it it happened so quick and the camera wasn't really kind of, you know, focused on him as it took place. But you could hear him on the screen on on you know, through the screen just yelling, right? That's how much pain that he was in. And then come when they did
Lincoln: Yeah. Yeah.
Lee Glass: a close up on it and an instant replay, you could see how the thumb just went back and egg dislocation, that sucks. But he they they were on their heels the entire game.
Lincoln: Yeah, yes.
Lee Glass: even that play where he got hurt, it it was like a third and long. They had timeouts. They didn't he didn't he was pressing the entire game. And to Doc's point, he's one of those quarterbacks I think where he just hasn't figured out that Bri Brian Flores defense and you can tell it was messing with his head.
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: but Brian Flores, man, I'm I'm hoping, praying, you know, I'm gonna, you know, go, you know, to last yeah I did this with with Robert Sala. I'm a I'm a dood with for Brian Flores. He he needs that he needs to be a head coach. He needs to be a head coach. Again, give him another chance. Right?
Lincoln: You need to be at us, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Give chance, yeah.
Lee Glass: Take him away from the Vikings. Take him away from the Vikings.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Y'all take your time with that. Y'all take your time with that.
Lee Glass: Vikings, they sitting, they sitting pretty.
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: Packers don't look good right now. the the the Detroit Lions are one dimensional. Just they they're
Lincoln: Yeah, yeah,
Lee Glass: all offense.
Lincoln: yeah.
Lee Glass: And you have the Bears where they're, you know, they're they're limping. Even though you got Ben Johnson who who can dial up a a a good scheme, you know, every
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: now and then for for a game while Caleb is out at the end of the day, I think Vikings right now they you know, they they sitting at the at the top of the chain of that NFC North.
Lincoln: Yeah. And Vikings are the best team to beat the Bears. They meet twice a year. They they they get they already know what's going on, so they they got the best chance to to to really take care of the bears. So Doc y'all y'all looking good. But go ahead. You you just can
Lee Glass: And and not only did he not only did they beat did they beat him, they held him to three points, right?
Lincoln: Yeah. Yep.
Lee Glass: With their players intact. There's no
Lincoln: Yep. Yep.
Lee Glass: excuse. I and it was raining, I get it, but still, right? The the
Lincoln: Yeah, it is what it is. Yeah.
Lee Glass: defense bared down, pun intended, and you know, took him to the woodshed.
Lincoln: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Doc, I I really I I we gl we glazed over this, but JJ McCarthy is a i w he's he's a New York giant and you know, this was this was for a fifth round pick. Were they kind of just saying get out of here? I mean what I mean what what's going on?
Donald "Doc" Glass: the the w the the word I will use this the situation was untenable. I I didn't see I don't think there was any situation in which JJ McCarthy was gonna become the starting quarterback for the Vikings ever again. Right? 'Cause when you think
Lincoln: Yeah. Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: about it, after a year to learn the offense. They let Sam Darnold go. They were hoping to keep Daniel Jones, but Daniel Jones went to Indy. Right.
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: He's looking bad. Carson Wentz beats him out. Then Carson Wentz gets hurt last season. Right.
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: So then he comes back in, still struggles. They bring in Callum Murray to try to like, hey, dude, step up or you're going to get left. He
Lincoln: Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: doesn't step up. Callum Murray becomes the starting quarterback. They they announce it like first week of preseason. Like we We ain't even got nothing to hide with this. There's no gamesmanship. He gonna be the starter,
Lincoln: Right, we're not wasting any time. Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: right? Then it's like, Carlson Wentz is gonna be the backup. So you still couldn't be a Carlson Wentz the second time. Like, yeah. Like it is you're done. Now I I think I think the man can play football, but he he could not understand or deal with with Kevin O'Connell's offense. And a lot
Lincoln: Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: of vets say like it's a complicated offense, it takes a while to to get to know it. I think him going to the Giants, I think Jim and John was on the phone and John was asking Jim
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: and Jim's like, Hey, if you do this and do this, do this, he can do this, he can't do this. And I think both Harbaugh's fundamentally know football. So whenever J J gets a chance to start under Jamie Swinston in New York, he will get a chance to start this season.
Lincoln: He w he he definitely will, yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: I think they're gonna call
Lee Glass: Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: plays in a way to accentuate his strengths and minimize his weaknesses. But if you don't put in the work and get some maturity, there's still gonna be issues. Right? and and the maturity thing, like, hey, don't don't don't don't taunt, celebrate and and then you taunt, celebrate, and the coaches tell you not to. It it rubs coaches the wrong way. They don't do you any favors.
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: I I do wish him the best. I think he was put in a situation where they were asking him to do stuff that just wasn't his skill set up. And not that he's not smart, just that he didn't run that kind of offense at Michigan.
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: Right.
Donald "Doc" Glass: And it just he just wasn't grasping it. but I think if you call the offense run offenses in the way he's used to, I think he'll be fine in the league. So
Lee Glass: St student body left, student body right.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Hey, it it were for Lombardi, right? And Paul Hornig and all
Lee Glass: Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: them goose guys, right?
Lee Glass: Yeah. W w what what I find interesting, Doc, is Kyler Murray isn't looking too good yet either, right? Yeah, and I know this was his first complete game, right, with you guys,
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: but I was expecting to see a little bit more. the best quarterback that Cal that that that the quarterback that's had the most success in this offense so far has been Darnell.
Lincoln: Mm. Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: And then Kirk Cousins.
Lee Glass: Anchor cousins.
Donald "Doc" Glass: And then Kirk Cousins, right? Eight
Lincoln: Currently. Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: V veteran quarterbacks.
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: Yeah.
Lincoln: Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Right. Carson's been okay. Yep. Yeah. Hey, but
Lee Glass: Murray's a vet veteran. Murray's a veteran. Yeah. Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: but for all the folks who call Kevin O'Connell a quarterback whisperer, he is not. Cause there's been many quarterbacks who've come through that have not done well in the system. the pastor,
Lee Glass: Yeah.
Lincoln: Yeah. That's on him.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Brosmer, I think we had Mullins for a little bit. I guess a bunch of dudes who've come through who have not played well for O'Cevin O'Connell. So
Lee Glass: Yeah.
Lincoln: Yeah. That's on him man. That's on him.
Donald "Doc" Glass: He he ha he has his way and he won't do it his way. And this is the first season where it's actually been him calling something so that the offense isn't trying to be maximally efficient, but just to let the defense shine. And it's working. I just hope he stays humble unless it let let lets it happen. So
Lee Glass: Mm-hmm. Yeah.
Lincoln: Yeah, it is working. Yeah. It's working. And it's gonna continue to work because y'all are playing on the Miami Dolphins this week. So it's gonna continue to work. Yeah, so got
Lee Glass: my god, good grief.
Lincoln: that. Yeah, y'all got that.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Try not to smile. So
Lincoln: I got you. So Atlanta entered the week three winless, went into Lambeau field, thirty-five fourteen win over the Green Bay Packers. I I already knew this about Jordan Luck. I I already, you know, this it was it wasn't a surprise. but did Atlanta save its season? Is Michael Penix Jr. the piece that makes Bajan Robinson, Drake London, and the rest of the offense work?
Lee Glass: It sure does look so.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Should yep.
Lee Glass: It sure looks so. I mean, he came into the game, you know, he was shaky and to be expected, didn't have any didn't have a preseason, was very limited during training camp, still rehabbing the knee. and then to come in, jump over Tua, who had all of those reps ahead of
Lincoln: On the wraps? Yes.
Lee Glass: him, and to come in and you know, he I think he threw an early pick, but settled down. played within the structure of the game, got Bijan the ball and then started sprinkling the ball around. to to come from those circumstances and play the type of game that he had with the
Lincoln: This is.
Lee Glass: win in a dominant fac fashion, yeah. He he is he is the engine that makes that team go right now on the offensive side. Well, sorry. He is the key that unlocks the engine, engine being B. John Robinson, right? That makes that offense go. Yeah.
Lincoln: Key. Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: P. John Robinson. Go.
Lincoln: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, absolutely.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yep. Yep. I I I 100% agree with you. it is still weird having two lefties on the same team at the same time. but what one lefty clearly seems to be playing better than the other. So as as long as he's upright, they got a chance.
Lee Glass: Well and a a doc and and and and and like I said, because one of those lefties is not a natural lefty.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah.
Lee Glass: Right? Tua is actually right handed. He just throws with his left hand because his dad used to make him throw with his left hand. But he does everything he does e
Lincoln: So wonder.
Donald "Doc" Glass: But that that's a natural FD.
Lee Glass: he does he does everything with his right other than throw a football. Which is probably why he can't get no power behind his throats.
Lincoln: I blame his daddy for it.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yes.
Lincoln: There you go. Bingo.
Donald "Doc" Glass: He he's the
Lee Glass: Right.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Phil Mc the Phil Mickelson, the Phil Mickelson of of America first book. So
Lee Glass: Yeah. Yep.
Lincoln: I blame his daddy for that. Yep. All right. Lee, I mean, I know you like this. Seattle loses to a backup quarterback. Washington beat Seattle 3331 with Marcus Mariota. Marcus Mariota was looking like he was all world. I mean he was making throws from from everywhere. So despite Seattle producing significantly more total defense, here's the here's the question. Are turnovers becoming one of the defining stories of week three? And does this loss reveal anything meaningful about Seattle or was it simply one of those NFL Sundays?
Lee Glass: So Drake Locke, I'm no Drew Locke, right? Drew Locke, right?
Lincoln: Get too luck, yeah. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: when he came in week one, he was what sixteen of twenty two hundred and eighty eighty seven yards and a touchdown, right? No
Lincoln: Yeah. Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: no no no interceptions. Okay.
Lincoln: Right.
Lee Glass: He he go he goes into he goes into week two and he throws what He has, you know, he's 12 of 14, 103 yards, yeah, one touchdown, no interceptions.
Donald "Doc" Glass: No interceptions.
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: No interceptions. Okay. Now he he's not throwing out a voluminous clip, but he he's protecting the ball. Okay. And now, for whatever reason, they they come into this game now that they got Darnold back and they they got a little bit past happy. But
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yep.
Lee Glass: what what did I say about Donald, right? Last year, he he led the league in what?
Lincoln: Turn over.
Donald "Doc" Glass: TOS
Lincoln: Yep.
Lee Glass: Led the league, he all he led all quarterbacks in turnovers. So, you know, he he comes in and he's he threw two interceptions. So now with with no no no no I I I sorry I gave I gave the wrong stat. I gave the wrong stat for for Drew Locke in week two. My bad, because I I I undersold him in week two, big time. Right. So week two, he had right, he was nine 19 of 26 for 235 yards and three touchdowns, no interceptions. Okay. So so yeah, so he
Donald "Doc" Glass: No deceptions.
Lincoln: There you go. Yep. Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: he he's slinging the ball, he's doing, you know, he's doing his thing, and then in come Donald, and Donald is turning the ball over.
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: So turnovers have been a thing this this week, this past week, but Donald, that that's his MO. Like he turns the ball over, and the defense has always been able to kind of save him.
Lincoln: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: They couldn't save him this time because Mariota was like, you know, he he he
Lincoln: Smarty over this carving them up.
Lee Glass: he wasn't he wasn't he wasn't having it not this time. I I I
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: can't explain I can't explain what I saw when I watched that game because I'm watching it and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. And
Lincoln: It's it's crazy. Yeah.
Lee Glass: it got to a point where as the game is unfolding, you find yourself, especially there was a point where where Seattle went ahead and
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: Commanders got the ball. I'm saying myself, Commander's gonna get this ball and go down the field and score and and score. Like there
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: was there was no more disbelief in their ability to to march down the field and on that defense
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: and get points. So I don't know. I it it could be that the the Seahawks just overlooked the commanders. They probably just got caught with this one. I'm not gonna take it as anything other than that, because we know Seattle is is a better team.
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: Than the commanders. We we we know that. But
Lincoln: Yeah. Yeah.
Lee Glass: as a Ram fan, it was really good to see. It was just it was it was an enjoyable game. That was a that was a good game to watch. Yeah.
Lincoln: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, absolutely.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Re we realize that that defense this year is not as vaunted as it was last year. On the back end, the cornerbacks are not good this year. I mean they they had signed they signed digs just to give to kick the kick the t kick the tires and see. They signed the defensive back, Arnold from Detroit before you got put on the yeah, before
Lincoln: Mm-hmm. Carrying Arnold. Mm-hmm. Yeah.
Lee Glass: Mm-hmm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: you got put on the commissioners example list, right?
Lee Glass: Right.
Donald "Doc" Glass: And then I think Aaron Wori missed at least one of the games, and then the other starting safety didn't play in this game. So like the secondary is suspect. At least right now. If they get pressure, then it's a moot point, but if they're not getting pressure, then the secondary suspect. and then with the turnovers, that's enough to tip it. Right? So when yeah. But
Lee Glass: Right. Everybody's hurt. Everybody's hurt.
Lincoln: Yeah. Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: When they don't turn the ball over, the defense is good enough for them to win games.
Lee Glass: Right.
Donald "Doc" Glass: But this year, unlike last year, the defense isn't so dominant to overlook the turnovers that Sam Darling may generate. And so we're just gonna have to take a look and see. But yeah, I think most games this year, if he got two and two two turnovers, there's a good chance Seattle doesn't win this year. When they would pull out a lot
Lee Glass: You think that
Donald "Doc" Glass: of them last year.
Lee Glass: y y you you guys think they're missing Kenneth Walker right about now?
Lincoln: So if if
Donald "Doc" Glass: Okay.
Lee Glass: You know, because they they they so Donald threw the ball he threw the ball forty five times. Okay?
Donald "Doc" Glass: Forty five times.
Lincoln: Mm, no.
Lee Glass: And and they had a total of eighteen rush attempts as a team.
Lincoln: That's crazy. That's crazy. Look.
Lee Glass: Okay. Their first overall p th I mean their first round pick price, he only had five attempts.
Lincoln: Yeah. This is the thing,
Lee Glass: And a fumble.
Lincoln: man. Yeah, this is the thing. Kenneth Walker was begging them to stay. He asked them right after the Super Bowl ended. He was like, Hey, let me work on this contract. They didn't wanna do it. But and now you you you you you you getting you get in the repercussions of that. The they definitely miss him for sure.
Lee Glass: But you you you know who is who who who's totally showing out though, phenomenal at this point? Smith and Jigbo. That dude, ten receptions, a hundred and and twenty twenty eight yards, two touchdowns, and he was
Lincoln: Hmm. Yeah, Smith and Jigma man, yeah, he he's he he's baller. He's baller. He baller.
Lee Glass: doing it with when when Drew Locke was playing.
Lincoln: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, he's bottling. Yeah, you y you can't definitely
Donald "Doc" Glass: He's smooth. He's smooth.
Lee Glass: He may end up getting offensive offensive player of the year again.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Really here.
Lincoln: Yeah, if he gave that
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah.
Lincoln: up. but another I was look I was trying to find a Brazilian word. an exciting Brazilian word, but I couldn't find one. I could I couldn't find one. I couldn't find an exciting Brazilian word. But it it you know, another exciting game was Baltimore and Dallas. my goodness. I just love this game. This this was like even though the refs tried to give Dallas the game. They tried to give him the game at the end of the game of the the I mean dude was hooking him, pulling him into the end zone. Come on, man. That that that that that Dallas, you you you you you you tried to cheat and you still lost. You still lost. Lamar Jackson, look, I I I I will say this. I don't know how impressed I was with Lamar Jackson throughout the game. He did some things, you know, he did some things. but I don't know I wasn't overly impressed where Lamar Jackson is MVP you know back in the VP runnings and stuff. Lamar Jackson did just enough. He did what what he was supposed to do and that last pass with seven seconds left to get into field goal range. That was a collapse by the Dallas Cowboys. I don't know what kind of defense they was playing. And you know, but let me tell you. I I the way I was screaming in there, I you thought I was winning the Super Bowl. I I I mean I was excited. I was excited because I knew if they got in the field goal range, my man was gonna hit that field goal. He was gonna hit that field goal and Dallas was going down. So I was excited about this game, but here's my question to you guys how much pressure is building in Dallas? Because is is it's it's it's doc you you know it best, you're right there in Dallas. and you know Did Lamar Jackson show anything that say, okay, going forward, you know, he's he's he's he's turning his season around? W what do you guys think?
Donald "Doc" Glass: lot. There's a lot of pressure in Dallas. Folks are not impressed with the coach this week. Dallas has overreaction Monday and they they were they are overreacting. You run the ball, get to the two yard line, and decide to get cute. You get the ball again, you get down to the one yard line, and you decide you're gonna tell your sixty million dollar a year quarterback to be careful with the ball. And if you don't see it eas easily to your twenty seven million dollar a year wide receiver, throw it away. You you kick the field goal to tie
Lincoln: That's crazy.
Donald "Doc" Glass: it. Then you tell your kicker to kick it through the end zone because you're worried about it running back. So no time elapses to get to the thirty five. Then you play classic prevent defense, except this is the one time you don't play classic prevent defense. You don't want them completing the 25-yard pass. You drop six back, you put three behind them, you rush two, let Lamar run around. Then it's the last play. If he throws it short, you tackle him, game's over, or you gotta go with the Hail Mary now. If he throws
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: it over those guys, you got three people you hope can tackle. But the game's over because the seven seconds have run out. But you let them do the one thing you can't let them do. And then of course, like as soon as it happens, like, yeah, this dude gonna hit this, he gonna hit this field goal. Cause they got a field goal kicker, like you got a field goal kicker. So y'all should know not to give up the twenty-five yarder, right? Just bad situational coaching. Just really bad situational coaching, and that is why folks are furious in Dallas right now. Cause they just pretty much gave it away. trying not to give it away.
Lincoln: Mm, I love it. I love it.
Lee Glass: Yeah, yeah, th this links this has nothing to do with Lamar Jackson or Derrick Henry. Like you said, Lamar Jackson didn't really overwhelm us with with his play, right? But it it it has everything to do with the coaching malpractice we saw with Brian Shottenheim, Shottenheim and his crew. as Doc said, w further elaborating on that kickoff, right? It was seven seconds left on the clock, and you kicked the ball out the end zone instead of in play.
Lincoln: In play. Yeah.
Lee Glass: To allow some time to elapse,
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: right? Even if you kick it like somewhere like within the 10 yard line, which we know Aubrey is skilled enough to do, the
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: best kick in the league, and they decide let's fair catch the ball so that time doesn't elapse. You at least you pin them
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Lee Glass: somewhere down there near the 10 instead of putting them up there, what, the 30 or 35, 35.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Thirty five. Thirty five.
Lincoln: Thirty five. That's
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah.
Lincoln: crazy.
Lee Glass: makes absolutely no sense. So all you gotta do at that point is is connect on a 30 yard play, if that, to get within field goal range. And that's what they did. Because they now they want to play pre-vent defense. It it was it was horrible coaching, horrible decisions, no no situational awareness whatsoever.
Lincoln: Yeah.
Lee Glass: None. And I was thinking Brian Schottenheimer was like an okay coach. But now, no, not so much. You
Lincoln: Mm.
Lee Glass: know, leading up to this point. yeah, I I I and and the in terms of like, I don't even think he's gonna be on the hot seat because we know Jerry, he doesn't fire coaches. So he's he's
Lincoln: Yeah, no yeah, yeah.
Lee Glass: still gonna end up playing out or coaching out his his his contract. And the fans are just gonna have to eat it. They c the fans
Lincoln: Mm-hmm. Yeah.
Lee Glass: in Dallas, they could be upset all they want. Nothing's gonna change.
Lincoln: No. Mm-mm.
Lee Glass: Nothing's gonna change. Jerry's gonna keep singing the swan song, No one's more upset than me. That's a lie. That's a lie.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Right.
Lincoln: Ha ha ha.
Lee Glass: I beg to differ, right? I'm pretty sure
Lincoln: Right, right, right.
Lee Glass: those fans are way more upset than Jerry Jones, who gets to go
Donald "Doc" Glass: more we've said. Yeah.
Lincoln: Yeah, yeah.
Lee Glass: into his million-dollar mansion at the end of these games and sleep on his you know silk pillow, right? Yeah, you're right. Scrooge McDuck
Lincoln: Right.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Like Scrooge McDuck.
Lee Glass: in it with his with his money vault. Like, yeah, like. No, Jer Jerry, we we're not hearing it. You're not that upset. You're not that upset.
Lincoln: Yeah. Right. Right. Yeah.
Lee Glass: but yeah, look, I'm not I'm not upset. I don't care. Right. I don't care. But yeah, this
Lincoln: I'm not upset either. I'm out yet.
Lee Glass: this this is this has been Dallas's ammo for the past 30 years. 30 years, nothing, not nothing
Donald "Doc" Glass: Yeah. Yeah.
Lincoln: Yeah, yeah.
Lee Glass: is going to change as long as they keep the current GM as the
Donald "Doc" Glass: GM.
Lee Glass: GM.
Lincoln: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. I I you know, I was I was, you know, and and and we'll wrap it up with this. I I was I was like, is it the DC? I mean you you got Christian Park a new DC. Is it the DC? Is it the players? Is it the organization? you know, and and I'm and I'm trying to think, you got the you got pretty much the same players on defense as you had previous year. I mean I think they they got a couple of little pieces there, but you know, you you got that. Christian Parker comes in, and you know, they're expected to really do some things on on on defense and you give up a play like that. So that play call, I I I don't know if it c it it should have been the right play call, but I think one of the players was not in the right position to give up that to give up that that reception in the middle of the field like that. And so It was on whichever player that was, I don't know who it was. But I I think it was the right play call. It was just up to the players to execute. And so this goes on the players, man. This goes on the players. The coach can only call the play. I mean, it's only i i i I say special teams, Coach Lee, like you were saying. Special teams keeping the ball in bounds and then on defense, you know. them executing at the end of the game. But I love it. I I love it. I love everything about it.
Lee Glass: I I don't agree with that. I d it's not on the players.
Lincoln: What do you think?
Lee Glass: I mean yeah, I mean of course certain to a certain degree, but the players are being put in bad situations, man. Right?
Lincoln: You think that was a bad play call at the end?
Lee Glass: All of it, everything that happened at the end for for Dallas, everything that happened was bad on the coaching.
Lincoln: Yeah, yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: I I I fought Christian Parker some for the play call. I blame the head coach for the last fifteen seconds. The the the the random pass that was airmailed, kicking the ball straight through the end zone, et cetera, et cetera. Dallas for years has had an issue with execution, especially situational football.
Lincoln: Mm-hmm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: they they can't have a quarterback sneak and get to the line of scrimmage and snap the ball in time. Right? It's not the first time they've given up some big, huge pass play to then set up some play to lose the game. It's different
Lincoln: Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: coaches. Right? And so I I think and this is where I blame the GM, I think they bring in players who don't have much football awareness. They may have talent,
Lincoln: Mm.
Donald "Doc" Glass: but I don't think they have a high IQ. I I I think if if Brian Flores came to the Cowboys and had five years to coach the the the the Cowboys, the defense
Lincoln: Yeah, we don't want that.
Donald "Doc" Glass: at best would be average. He wouldn't be able to do what he does. 'Cause I don't think they're bringing in high IQ players, with the exception of Caleb Downs. I think Caleb Downs is is the exception, right? But you got guys who I mean, this is the guy who played co coached under under you know, Vic Fangio, and you got dudes just running rough shot through the secondary. Still. He's
Lincoln: Yeah.
Donald "Doc" Glass: he's a bright young defensive coordinator. I don't think he doesn't know what to call. I think there's just times where Ice don't get it and he's trying to help him get it, but It it happens so often, it's just as you almost like that's just what the cowboys do. Right? And so you gotta be like, What's what's what's the commonality? And it's the it's the owner slash GM. I don't think he brings in guys that understand situational football easily. I'll put it that way. And I don't know how much time he's they they get to try to learn situational football. So
Lincoln: Is that
Lee Glass: Are you in Dallas and you said that? Oi. I I'm not I'm not touching that.
Donald "Doc" Glass: I gotta call it like I said.
Lincoln: Let's see what happened in the comments, man. Let's see what happened in the comments.
Lee Glass: I'm not touching that.
Lincoln: man. But yeah,
Lee Glass: Yeah.
Lincoln: look man, it's some great storylines going on NFL. We got week four coming up. you know, we got some big, big games coming up in week four. I know we're gonna talk about that a little bit on the next one, Lee, and we'll we'll we'll we'll we'll just get into some of those predictions when we record again.
Lee Glass: Well you called me out specifically on that. What what are we talking about?
Lincoln: Okay, we we we we we we know what time it is. We we know we we know what time it is, right? We we we we
Lee Glass: What what it's it's it's ten eighteen PM Eastern Standard Time.
Lincoln: We know we know we know what game it is.
Lee Glass: It is it is ten eighteen PM Eastern Standard Time. That's what time it
Lincoln: Well,
Lee Glass: is.
Lincoln: I'm just gonna we know the Rams and the Eagles are gonna play. We're gonna talk about this, man. We're gonna talk
Lee Glass: okay.
Lincoln: about this. And you know, look.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Ooh.
Lincoln: It we'll we'll just we'll we'll get into that later. We'll get into that later. Get into that later. Yeah. Alright fellas. Alright man.
Lee Glass: Alright then. Alright fellas. Later.
Donald "Doc" Glass: Right. Cool. Right.
Lincoln: Yep, later.
