00:00:04.830 --> 00:00:12.119
Welcome to Creating the Path, a podcast to help you create success without burnout by shifting into your next level identity.
00:00:14.519 --> 00:00:23.699
I'm your host, Heather Grace Hansen, and I'm here to blend cosmic insights with practical Neuroscience to help you create the path to a life and business you love.
00:00:26.550 --> 00:00:29.010
Hey, and welcome back to Creating the Path.
00:00:29.370 --> 00:00:31.050
I am so glad you're here today.
00:00:32.009 --> 00:00:34.515
I want to start today's episode with a question.
00:00:36.240 --> 00:00:49.079
Do you feel like you're working hard in your business, doing all the things you're supposed to be doing, showing up consistently, but you're just not getting the results you want, or that the results don't match the effort you're putting in?
00:00:49.920 --> 00:00:51.090
If the answer is yes.
00:00:51.420 --> 00:01:07.769
This episode is for you because today I'm talking about something that I think is one of the most overlooked reasons people burnout or hit a plateau or just lose their motivation in their business, even when they're doing everything, quote unquote right?
00:01:08.670 --> 00:01:19.829
And I put that, I put right in air quotes because spoiler alert, a lot of what we've been told is right isn't actually right for us specifically.
00:01:20.879 --> 00:01:23.969
That distinction is really important, so let's get into it.
00:01:24.915 --> 00:01:28.605
When I first started building my business, I did what most people do.
00:01:28.694 --> 00:01:31.125
I consumed everything I could find.
00:01:31.215 --> 00:01:41.504
I followed all the experts, took all the courses, implemented all the strategies I was doing, everything I was supposed to be doing, and I was exhausted.
00:01:42.465 --> 00:01:46.484
The worst part, my business wasn't even taking off or growing at all.
00:01:46.484 --> 00:01:49.784
So all I got from all that work was burnout.
00:01:50.834 --> 00:01:56.984
And things didn't really start to change for me until a couple of years later when I discovered human design.
00:01:57.614 --> 00:02:06.944
And for the first time, I started understanding why things weren't working for me the way that I thought they should, because I was designed to work in a different way.
00:02:07.844 --> 00:02:15.284
That's when I realized that you can't just follow standard advice and expect it to work unless you also personalize it to yourself.
00:02:16.094 --> 00:02:20.444
You need to take into context how you are designed to work and what your strengths are.
00:02:21.014 --> 00:02:28.664
So let's talk more about how this actually happens and how we end up working in ways that don't actually work for us.
00:02:29.661 --> 00:02:34.070
Now the first thing is something I think we don't talk about enough.
00:02:34.670 --> 00:02:40.790
A lot of the things on your to-do list, you're probably doing them because someone told you that you should, right?
00:02:41.721 --> 00:02:45.531
Maybe it was a coach, an influencer, or like a course you took.
00:02:46.131 --> 00:03:08.830
And I'm definitely not telling you to stop learning from other people because we need to, when we're learning to do new things, When you're spending the majority of your time and energy doing things that aren't actually aligned with what you want, things that don't light you up and that don't feel meaningful to you personally, it costs you so much more energy than it should.
00:03:09.340 --> 00:03:10.090
I mean, think about it.
00:03:10.120 --> 00:03:13.810
When you're doing something that genuinely excites you, there's a natural.
00:03:14.530 --> 00:03:15.520
Energy behind it.
00:03:16.180 --> 00:03:18.009
Motivation doesn't feel like a struggle.
00:03:18.189 --> 00:03:27.669
Like you don't have to talk yourself into it, but when you're doing something just because you feel like you should, you're basically running your car on fumes.
00:03:27.669 --> 00:03:33.729
It's like you're just white knuckling your way through your to-do list instead of just flowing your way through it.
00:03:33.729 --> 00:03:34.150
Right?
00:03:35.979 --> 00:03:40.840
And that is exhausting in a way that no amount of sleep or self-care can fully fix because.
00:03:41.574 --> 00:03:44.544
That type of drain is happening at the source.
00:03:45.444 --> 00:03:59.034
So the first question that I would ask yourself is how much of what I'm doing every day is something I actually want to be doing versus something I think I should be doing.
00:04:00.057 --> 00:04:02.098
And that brings me to the second thing.
00:04:03.207 --> 00:04:15.568
Not everyone is designed to work the same way, and I think most of us understand that logically, but we don't always stop to think about what that actually means or to figure out what it means for you specifically.
00:04:16.617 --> 00:04:21.567
So some people do their best work in focused, intense bursts.
00:04:21.778 --> 00:04:33.838
This is what people call batching, that deep focused work for, you know, it could be a few hours or even a few days before you stop and take as much time as you need to rest.
00:04:34.622 --> 00:04:44.007
Other people thrive on a steadier more consistent schedule, doing consistent work each day and building that momentum over time.
00:04:45.019 --> 00:04:49.129
And some people have energy that genuinely fluctuates day to day.
00:04:49.548 --> 00:04:56.028
And fighting that fluctuation and trying to force the same output every single day is what burns them out.
00:04:57.023 --> 00:04:59.213
And here's what happens when you don't know which one you are.
00:04:59.663 --> 00:05:06.802
You default to whatever the productivity experts are recommending, or you try to copy someone else's routine, right?
00:05:07.942 --> 00:05:10.552
And if their natural design is different from yours.
00:05:11.302 --> 00:05:13.642
Their routine is gonna wear you out eventually.
00:05:14.093 --> 00:05:17.242
You can do it for a while, but not forever.
00:05:18.266 --> 00:05:26.725
And it's not that you need to be more disciplined or have more willpower, it's that you need to work in alignment with who you are and how you're designed.
00:05:27.709 --> 00:05:31.939
When you work with your natural energy instead of against it, things get easier.
00:05:32.689 --> 00:05:35.269
Not necessarily easy, but easier.
00:05:36.139 --> 00:05:37.588
There's a difference between hard work that.
00:05:38.358 --> 00:05:43.129
Just flows and hard work that grinds you down to the ground.
00:05:43.848 --> 00:05:48.709
And the difference is often just whether you're working with your design or fighting against it.
00:05:48.709 --> 00:05:51.456
Honestly, and here's another thing.
00:05:51.665 --> 00:05:55.175
I see this everywhere and I have fallen into this one so many times.
00:05:56.646 --> 00:06:01.475
We tend to spend a lot of time and energy on the things that don't come naturally to us.
00:06:02.136 --> 00:06:06.966
The stuff that feels hard or unfinished or like it needs to be fixed.
00:06:08.406 --> 00:06:11.555
And in the meantime, the work we're really good at.
00:06:11.615 --> 00:06:15.125
The stuff that comes naturally and almost feels too easy.
00:06:15.696 --> 00:06:22.656
We tend to deprioritize that or put it off almost like it doesn't count as real work because it doesn't feel hard enough.
00:06:23.692 --> 00:06:25.442
Raise your hand, if that sounds familiar.
00:06:26.012 --> 00:06:28.322
You can't see it, but I've got mine raised for sure.
00:06:29.315 --> 00:06:30.696
So here's an example.
00:06:31.055 --> 00:06:39.875
Let's say you're a coach and your zone of genius is the work you do with clients coaching them, helping them shift their perspective and changing their life.
00:06:40.745 --> 00:06:43.565
That's the work that lights you up and probably doesn't even feel like work.
00:06:45.161 --> 00:06:47.571
Meaning if it tires you out, you enjoy it.
00:06:47.571 --> 00:06:51.831
So it tires you out, but it doesn't burn you out like it's, it's more fulfilling.
00:06:52.798 --> 00:06:54.507
But you might find yourself spending.
00:06:54.867 --> 00:07:22.533
Too many hours trying to figure out some tech issue on your website or redesigning your homepage for the fifth time, raising my hand again, or trying to learn some new tool that, you know, someone said you need absolutely need to be doing or using, and you tell yourself that you have to do those things and maybe sometimes you do to some, to some degree, depending on what it is, but when those tasks are taking up the majority of your energy.
00:07:23.697 --> 00:07:33.327
It takes away your energy that could be going towards the work that would actually move the needle so you end up exhausted without much to show for it.
00:07:34.557 --> 00:07:36.507
Your strengths are your superpower.
00:07:36.987 --> 00:07:42.475
When you spend most of your energy in your zone of genius, you produce better results with less effort.
00:07:43.295 --> 00:07:49.771
And when you're constantly just grinding away at the things that drain you, then you have nothing left for the work that actually matters.
00:07:51.870 --> 00:07:53.430
This is what you need to remember.
00:07:54.334 --> 00:08:07.593
There's a lot of really great advice out there, and it's great to learn from other people who have knowledge and expertise that you can benefit from, but you'll wanna filter that advice through the lens of who you are and what is going to work for you.
00:08:08.584 --> 00:08:13.264
And always remember that you can try things out and then stop if it doesn't work for you.
00:08:13.713 --> 00:08:17.223
You don't have to keep pushing through a strategy or a process that doesn't work for you.
00:08:17.704 --> 00:08:26.343
Just because someone with more experience than you, you know, says that their strategy is the best, because the other thing you need to remember is that the problem isn't you.
00:08:26.973 --> 00:08:31.024
The problem is that the advice wasn't designed for you specifically.
00:08:32.163 --> 00:08:44.948
So when a coach tells you to post every day, or to batch your content on Mondays or do a live every week, they're giving you advice based on what worked for them or what tends to work in general.
00:08:46.099 --> 00:08:54.318
But it n but it might not be what works for your specific energy or your specific strengths or your specific design.
00:08:55.188 --> 00:09:09.379
And when you follow advice that isn't right for you, it creates that frustrating situation where you feel like you're doing everything right because technically you are following the advice, but you're exhausted and the needle isn't moving, right?
00:09:10.788 --> 00:09:13.578
That's not a failure, it's just misalignment.
00:09:14.913 --> 00:09:21.333
The shift happens when you stop trying to fit yourself into someone else's blueprint and start building your own.
00:09:22.171 --> 00:09:32.821
So if you're ready to understand how your energy is specifically designed to work, I've created a 50 plus page personalized human design report that you can download instantly.
00:09:33.765 --> 00:09:39.586
It's a comprehensive, fully personalized report that covers all the major elements of your human design.
00:09:39.975 --> 00:09:48.105
It has your energy type, your strategy, authority, profile, definition, centers, channels, gates.
00:09:49.216 --> 00:09:49.576
Oh my gosh.
00:09:49.576 --> 00:09:50.625
I think that's everything, right?
00:09:51.405 --> 00:09:52.725
It covers all the major parts.
00:09:53.566 --> 00:09:59.775
It explains what each of these means specifically for you and how you can actually apply it in your real life.
00:10:00.717 --> 00:10:03.327
It's really one of the most eye-opening things you can do for yourself.
00:10:03.357 --> 00:10:14.967
Honestly, it was for me because when you finally see your own design laid out in a way that makes sense, so much of that confusion and the self-blame just falls away.
00:10:16.018 --> 00:10:21.748
You stop wondering what's wrong with you and start understanding how you were actually built to operate.
00:10:22.500 --> 00:10:25.471
So I'll put the link in the show notes where you can go and get your report.
00:10:25.770 --> 00:10:27.990
Uh, it's just $44 as of now.
00:10:28.410 --> 00:10:36.120
And you'll just need to enter your, uh, birth date, location, and the exact time of your birth in order to generate your chart.
00:10:36.510 --> 00:10:44.400
Uh, make sure you have the exact time in order to make sure that your chart is accurate, and then you can buy the report and download it within seconds.
00:10:45.600 --> 00:10:48.061
So now let's bring this all back together.
00:10:49.321 --> 00:10:57.421
If you are exhausted despite doing all the right things, quote unquote right things, there are a few things worth looking at First.
00:10:58.125 --> 00:11:03.076
Are you spending your energy on things you actually want to do or things you feel you should do?
00:11:03.765 --> 00:11:08.056
Because that distinction matters more than we usually give it credit for.
00:11:09.346 --> 00:11:14.145
And second, are you working with your natural energy rhythm or against it?
00:11:15.015 --> 00:11:19.859
Not everyone is built for the same schedule, same output, or the same pace.
00:11:20.936 --> 00:11:21.745
And third.
00:11:22.495 --> 00:11:28.076
Are you working with your strengths and doing the work that comes naturally and creates the most impact?
00:11:28.676 --> 00:11:34.436
Or are you just grinding away at everything else and leaving nothing left for your zone of genius?
00:11:35.239 --> 00:11:40.729
And remember, you can still learn from the experts, but only you are the expert on what works for you.
00:11:41.328 --> 00:11:43.798
Your human design can help you understand what will work for you.
00:11:44.703 --> 00:11:50.313
So that you can then take the advice you get from others and just adjust it to work for you.
00:11:51.453 --> 00:11:57.153
So you don't need to work harder, you just need to work in a way that's aligned with how you are designed.
00:11:58.394 --> 00:12:00.614
I hope this resonates and I hope it's helpful.
00:12:00.614 --> 00:12:03.104
Thank you so much for spending this time with me today.
00:12:03.583 --> 00:12:11.624
And if you know someone who else who needs to hear this, please share it with them, and I will see you again next Thursday.
00:12:21.349 --> 00:12:24.563
I hope you enjoyed this episode of Creating the Path as much as I did.

00:12:29.693 --> 00:12:30.413
